How to decorate the ceiling in the house: what materials can be used, how much will the repair work cost. Decorating the ceilings in the apartment with modern materials The better to close the ceiling in the house

Ceiling decoration is an integral part of the overall design of the room. The design of the ceiling space should correspond to the entire style of the interior. There is a wide variety of materials and finishes. In order not to be mistaken in the choice, it is worth getting acquainted with the traditional and new solutions for the design of the ceiling, find out how the size of the room affects this choice, how you can decorate and what colors can be combined to create a harmonious interior.

Peculiarities

The design of the ceiling depends on the type of room to be finished. The decoration in a city apartment is different from the decoration of a summer house. We spend a lot of time in the house and the disadvantages of finishing will not go unnoticed. Compliance with the entire chain of the technological cycle is appropriate here. To prepare the surface of the upper floor, you need to more carefully approach the choice of color and texture, special attention is paid to the types of decor.

Finishing work in the country depends on the conditions of use of the country house- whether the room is heated or is used only in the summer, whether the material of the ceiling covering will be affected low temperatures and humidity. A universal solution would be to sheathe the ceiling with wood, if lathing is used in the design of the summer cottage. Such a ceiling will serve for many years and, if necessary, it can be simply painted in desired color.

Giving preference to one or another version of the ceiling, you need to take into account the size of the room. The ceiling on suspended structures will remove 5-10 centimeters in height, in low rooms it is better to paint or wallpaper on plaster. On the contrary, the dimensions of a narrow and high room can be balanced by lowering the suspension structure by the desired height... In the attic rooms, up to two meters in height can thus be removed to decorate the room in a traditional style.

The use of color and different levels in the design of the ceiling allows you to zone the room and visually influence the size. A cross-beam made of wood or a protruding plane of plasterboard will divide the space and expand the boundaries of the walls of a long narrow room. The same effect will be obtained if the transverse stripe is made in a contrasting color. Care should be taken to apply dark tones in the ceiling tinting. They add weight to the top of the space. This technique is acceptable when decorating walls with very light or white colors and a sufficient room height.

Some types of ceiling finishing work can be done independently; for more complex finishes, it is better to invite specialists. For the execution of a designer exclusive ceiling, project documentation, a plan of a constructive solution, a wiring diagram and lighting are drawn, sketches of tinting are prepared in relation to a specific object. Such design work are not cheap, there will be costs quality materials and payment for the work of specialists, but as a result you become the owner of a unique ceiling that will amaze guests and decorate your home.

Decorating methods

The traditional and oldest ceiling decoration technique is whitewashing. Any housewife is familiar with the whitewashing scheme: the old layer of chalky whitewash is slightly washed out with a wet sponge or brush, then a new clean water-chalk solution is applied from a spray gun or with a wide brush. During the first painting, several layers of whitewash are applied to the ceiling slab. The advantage here is the ease of repair work and the painting itself, the harmlessness of the chalk solution, resistance to high temperatures... The advantages include the invariability of the height of the room.

The disadvantages include careful preparation of the floor surface. The cycle of work is as follows: the floor slab is cleaned of dust, spray of cement and degreased in the presence of oil stains. The surface is covered with a primer, on the primer they are plastered in heated rooms gypsum plaster, and in the ancillary - cement. If there are gaps between the slabs or a large difference in heights, beacons are set and the surface is leveled along the beacons. Next, they are treated with a leveling putty, on which a primer is applied and fiberglass is glued to a special glue. This is followed by a layer of finishing putty, which is rubbed over first with a coarse mesh, then with a fine mesh manually or mechanically. The surface is now ready for whitewashing.

Chalk paints have lost their relevance today and they were replaced by acrylic and water-dispersion paints. Such a ceiling can be washed, this coating lasts longer, but preparation for painting is performed in the same order as for whitewashing. And he and the other type of finish can be painted in any color scheme suitable for interior decoration. On this basis, frescoes and murals are made that adorn the ceremonial living rooms and halls. Stucco molding is used from the decor; gilding is added to give more solemnity.

A plain white ceiling in a classic style looks noble.

Affordable and simple in execution is wallpapering the ceiling. You can make this coating yourself by choosing wallpaper to match the wall wallpaper or using bright colored accents on the ceiling with monochrome interior decor. Floor preparation is a little easier than whitewashing. Here it is enough to apply a layer of leveling putty on the plaster. Thick wallpaper hide minor surface defects. Vinyl wallpapers can be colored several times, updating the color.

The disadvantages include a short service life, a tendency to yellowing under the influence of ultraviolet rays, to peeling of seams under the influence of moisture and the laboriousness of the pasting process. Tastefully selected wallpapers will create a Renaissance classic in the living room.

Liquid wallpaper replaced paper. There is great variability in color solutions, material availability, ease of application, great durability, the ability to change the color scheme. Disadvantages include difficulties wet cleaning and dust accumulation in the texture.

The next group of types of ceiling finishes refers to suspended structures to which the base material is attached. There are several such materials.

Drywall is an inexpensive material with a surface prepared for applying the finishing putty. No top floor treatment is required for this finish. These ceilings do not need to align the differences in floor slabs, they are environmentally friendly material, non-flammable, easy to install.

At the initial stage, a frame is mounted, which consists of metal profiles attached to suspensions. The lighting scheme is determined, electrical wiring is laid. Then the frame is sheathed with sheets of drywall, holes are cut for installing lighting fixtures. Plasterboard is putty at the joints, fiberglass is glued and passed with a layer of finishing putty. The surface is painted in the desired color. This type of ceiling can be wallpapered or finished liquid wallpaper, then you can limit yourself only to sealing the seams between the sheets with putty. Thus, the plane of the ceiling is lowered by at least 10 centimeters, this must be taken into account when choosing a method for finishing the ceiling in low rooms.

Frame ceilings can be made in several levels, it will add artistic expression to the interior. Tiered ceilings look good in spacious high rooms... In a small room, it is worth stopping at a straight ceiling or mounting one protruding level in the center or along one of the walls. An LED strip is mounted on the side faces of the level, or several spotlights are mounted on the level of the ceiling along the outline of the level.

Plasterboard suspended ceilings are indispensable if you need to perform complex relief on the ceiling.

Recently, stretch ceilings have become very popular. They are easy and quick to install, do not require special preparation of the floor surface, only the installation of the frame. A frame made of a metal profile is attached to the walls, so the ceiling is lowered only to a profile height of three to 5 centimeters. At the next stage, electrical wiring for lighting is done. The finishing cloth is stretched and fixed in several places, then it is heated with the help of an electric generator and bent between the profile and the wall with a spatula. The junction of the wall and ceiling is decorated with molding.

PVC fabric can be classified into the following types: matte, glossy, satin and fabric. The matte surface is suitable for almost any interior, regardless of the size of the room. This solution would be ideal for low-rise rooms. Disadvantage matte surface is its ability to absorb light, so you need to take care of sufficient lighting. The choice of this type of canvas is suitable for classic design premises with wooden furniture, traditional curtains and paintings for which glare in the room is undesirable.

For ultra-modern trends in interior design, manufacturers offer a glossy canvas. A glossy ceiling, due to the reflectivity and glare of light, adds illumination to the room and visually raises the ceiling. Gloss acts on the principle of reflection in a pond - if the floor is finished with glossy porcelain stoneware, the objects will be reflected many times, creating the effect of infinity. If you add this or that color scheme, you can get an exceptionally stylish effect on the floor and ceiling.

Satin fabric combines the advantages of both types of finishes. Retaining the nobility of the matte material, it has a slight sheen of satin fabric and mother-of-pearl motifs. It is the best choice for classic architectural solutions. A slight gloss of the structure of the canvas emphasizes the play of light on the ceiling, the weave pattern changes shades under different angles view, which adds richness to the texture. In natural light, the color looks darker than with electric.

Fabric stretch ceilings have similar properties. In this case, a thin layer of PVC is applied to the fabric at the factory, which gives the fabric elasticity and does not hide the peculiarities of the thread weaves. Professional art painting is done on the fabric or an already existing pattern is chosen, but this type of finishing material is the most expensive.

Modern technologies allow performing multilevel ceilings made of PVC or fabric.

The advantage of stretch ceilings is durability, high performance and strength, a wide variety of textures and colors of the canvas, it is easy to keep them clean, it is enough to wipe with a damp cloth. The finishing material has a high moisture resistance, it can be used in rooms for any purpose.

The disadvantages include the impossibility self-assembly , since special equipment and knowledge of technology is required, and the limitation of use in unheated rooms. Minor repairs cannot be made. In case of damage to such a ceiling or flooding from the upper floor, the canvas must be completely replaced.

The next popular type of ceiling decoration is suspended modular ceilings. Armstrong ceilings are distinguished here. They rank first in the ratings of finishing materials for administrative and office buildings. The ceiling consists of a metal frame attached to the floor slab in the form of squares or rectangles. Pressed mineral fiber slabs ( stone wool with starch, latex, gypsum, cellulose), which are held by the T-shaped profile of the frame.

Plates have standard size 60x60 centimeters and a thickness of 1-2.5 centimeters. Rectangular slabs are available in sizes 120x60 centimeters. The most affordable and practical ceilings are "Oasis" and "Baikal" in white or gray. Plates "Biogard" have a special antimicrobial coating, which expands the scope of application in kitchens and dining rooms. Plates "Prima" withstand high humidity. Additional noise insulation have "Ultima" ceilings.

The advantages of these ceilings are obvious: affordable price, installation speed, no need to prepare the floor, hidden wiring, ease of replacing one module with another during repair. The disadvantages include the loss of performance at high humidity or water ingress on the plates, fragility mineral slabs and instability to UV rays.

A variety of suspended structures are cassette ceilings. They are more often used in the decoration of houses because of their decorative effect. Modules can be of any color, as well as mirror, metal, polymer. Their performance is much higher, and their ease of assembly makes them the bestseller.

Another option for a modular ceiling is the Grilyato ceiling. These are lattices from aluminum profile... Their configurations are very diverse, they can be painted in any color, there is no difficulty in installation, they transmit light, which allows you to mount original lighting. Previously, Grilyato's designs were used in industrial buildings and canteens. There are lattices of dense small rectangles - blinds, a square mesh system "Standard", a pyramidal cell, which visually increases the height of the room - "Pyramid". These cellular ceilings can be located at different levels. Today, as industrial design styles are in vogue, lattice modules are at their peak of popularity, allowing you to create fantastic interiors.

The disadvantage is the transparency of the gratings and the visibility of electricity and ventilation communications. Designers prefer with inside cover the interceiling space with frosted glass.

The most economical option is recognized as PVC or foam modules. They are equipped with ornamental relief, wood or stone texture. They have a wide variety of colors. Even an inexperienced person in construction can cope with gluing plates to the ceiling. After gluing the tiles, the seams are covered with putty to match the color of the module. If you have a flat base and neat installation of the modules, you get a beautiful ceiling.

The slatted ceiling is well known for the nation's rural construction. Wooden log cabins sheathed wooden board or lath, since wood was the most affordable material, wood is very durable material, retains heat well, has excellent sound insulating properties. Minus - susceptibility to rotting and fungal diseases in violation of temperature and humidity conditions.

However, this is enough simple technology, which does not require special preparation of the base. A frame made of a metal profile or from a wooden bar is attached to the upper floor. The frame is sewn up with a board or rail. The brutality of the material allows the presence of cuts from knots, and the heterogeneous interesting fibrous structure of the wood conceals irregularities. Electrical wiring is laid in the gap between the frame and the slatted bed.

The tree adapts well to high humidity, is a "breathable" material, environmentally friendly. Some types of wood emit resins useful for the respiratory system when heated; this effect is successfully used in baths and saunas. Designers are happy to use wooden lath in the decoration of premises. Rack ceiling after special treatment from decay it is covered with varnish, wax or stains on a water or oil basis. When repairing a ceiling that has blackened from time to time, you can sand the top layer, so clear wood will open. With a deep defeat of the array, the ceiling is simply painted with paint.

Today, natural finishing materials are increasingly being replaced by artificial ones. PVC ceiling slats are widely used. The structure of PVC slats is very light, is not afraid of moisture, its installation is not complicated, the entire technological cycle takes a little time. Manufacturers produce quality imitations natural materials that cannot be identified "by eye". Similar ceiling slats are produced from metal decorated with gold or with a mirror surface. Affordable decorative material allows for luxurious interiors.

An original and easy-to-use solution will be ceiling sheathing and walls of OSB slabs. The OSB board is used as a flat and solid base for finishing with another material, it can also become a finishing solution to the ceiling. This material is now at the peak of popularity, as it has an interesting structure and color scheme in natural colors. OSB boards have increased moisture resistance, are durable, aesthetic.

Reed mats have become an interesting technique for decorating a country house or attic, they are not very durable, but with proper protection from moisture they will last for several years and add an exotic note to the design of the cottage.

Rooms with beveled ceilings are usually difficult to decorate beautifully. An unused area appears in the low part of the room, where unnecessary things accumulate. It is better to give such rooms under the bedroom and put the headboard against a low wall. A good idea would be to combine the ceiling with contrasting materials. The bright color will warn against bruises and decorate the interior.

Design

Contemporary design trends give great value modeling of the ceiling space. The floor can only have a horizontal plane, the walls - vertical, but the ceiling is given the most bizarre configurations. And for this they use a combination of simple types of finishes - from whitewash to wooden slats.

The original designs are made from a combination of plasterboard and tension members. When included in the composition of contrasting colors, a stylish high-tech ceiling is obtained. This design is supported by glossy dark furnishings and light-colored walls.

Patterned stretch ceilings can completely transform a room if you use the illumination of the canvas on the top and sides in the lower level. The effect of a three-dimensional image has become available thanks to the technology of creating 3D drawings.

What is the best ceiling for an apartment: solutions for rooms with different functionality

Greetings, comrades! In this article, I want to touch upon the topic of finishing ceilings - the choice of one or another finishing method depending on the functions performed by the room and the actual finishing technology in each case. Let's get started.

Types of premises and requirements for the ceiling

Both in the apartment and in the house, premises with different functionality can be distinguished:

  • Living rooms (living rooms and bedrooms). They are characterized by constant humidity in the range of 60-90% and the absence of strong pollution (soot, splashes, etc.). Attractive design ceiling, the presence of backlighting or spot lighting is welcome;

  • Bathroom (or separate toilet and bathroom), as well as a kitchen. It is not for nothing that they are combined into a general group: they are characterized by frequent fluctuations in humidity and more likely to be contaminated ceilings (in the kitchen - with soot and grease splashes, in the bathroom or bathroom - with splashes of shampoos, scrubs and lime streaks remaining from water drops). Aesthetics are in demand here too;

Therefore, the ceiling finish should combine an attractive appearance with low hygroscopicity and resistance to cleaning (read - to wet abrasion).

  • Technical premises (storage room, home workshop, and in a private house - boiler room and laundry), on the contrary, are undemanding to the appearance of the finish and do not impose any special requirements on the strength, wear resistance and water resistance of the ceiling covering.

Materials (edit)

So, what types of ceilings in an apartment or house are suitable for each of the listed types of premises?

Living rooms

For a small bedroom in a private house (primarily in a log house or frame structure) a wooden ceiling, assembled from pine lining along the crate, is ideal. The smell of wood will create an incomparable atmosphere of comfort. In addition, phytoncides secreted by fresh wood are considered an excellent means of preventing respiratory diseases, helping to cure colds and generally increase immunity.

How to decorate the ceiling in the living room or in the studio? Inexpensive and one-stop solution- drywall on a galvanized profile frame. It allows you to hide the differences in the panel floor and create complex multi-level structures that can hide boxes, soffits or lighting.

Stretch ceilings in an apartment are especially beneficial with a small distance between the floor and the ceiling. Standard height ceilings in Khrushchev or Brezhnevka is only 2.5 meters, which is already quite small for a person above average height.

Frame any suspended structure additionally reduces this height by at least 5 - 7 centimeters, but a canvas made of polyester or PVC film can be stretched at a minimum distance from the overlap.

Which stretch ceilings are better to do - fabric or film? Comrades, it is difficult to give an unambiguous answer here. The pros and cons of both types of stretch ceilings have been discussed many times in review articles and on thematic forums, so I will only mention the key properties of both solutions:

  • The fabric ceiling is much more resistant to accidental mechanical damage, while even a festive champagne cork can break through a thin vinyl film;
  • On the other hand, in a low room glossy ceiling visually increases its apparent volume due to translucent reflection overhead: the ceiling seems much higher. And gloss is just vinyl. The fabric ceiling can only have a matte or "satin" texture.

With a catastrophic lack of room height, the only option for finishing the flow is to plaster it (or, in case of an insignificant size of floor irregularities, puttying). Yes, complex design delights are impossible here, but the room will hardly lose its height.

Some finishes I strongly I do not advise use in living rooms... Not only because they are impractical, but also for purely aesthetic reasons:

  • Rack suspended ceilings and modular systems (Armstrong and others like them) make an already low room visually cramped and give it the look of a standard office from the 90s;

  • Foam and polystyrene ceiling tiles will give the room a frankly "collective farm" look. Even with a perfectly flat sticker, it looks dull and boring;

  • For the same reason, you should not glue wallpaper to the ceiling. Let's leave this "kolkhoz-style" by the 90th;

  • Glass and mirrored suspended ceilings are unsafe: accidentally broken glass is quite capable of stuffing shards on everyone on the floor under it.

Bathrooms, kitchens

Stretch ceiling will be appropriate in this case too, but not any, but again made of vinyl film. Unlike fabric, it is, if necessary, easily washed from grease, splashes and soot with soapy water or any household detergents (except, of course, abrasive).

The film ceiling is waterproof and, when flooded from above, can retain several tens of liters of water. Later, it can be drained through any hole for the luminaire.

An alternative to a stretch film is a suspended ceiling made of plastic wall panels... It is also easy to clean using household detergents, and, unlike hanging, without any risk of accidental damage: the panels are only afraid of strong impacts and significant deforming loads.

Suspended gypsum plasterboard structures are also in use here: they are useful in that they allow you to covertly lay ventilation and mount soffits that give maximum illumination in the complete absence of shadows.

The last property is useful, first of all, for the beautiful half of the family. Shadows interfere with the application of makeup, while even lighting with multiple light sources allows you to pay attention to the smallest details of your appearance.

If the average ceiling height in the bathroom and toilet is 2.4 meters or less, the loss of a few centimeters from the floor to the ceiling is highly undesirable. The only sensible solution is a plaster ceiling.

But what about the requirements for resistance to wet abrasion? Can the surface of the gypsum board or plaster be washed?

Calm, only calm. It all depends on what this surface is painted with.

And how to paint drywall or plaster to make them washable?

"Rubber" water-dispersion paint. Personally tested: it tolerates not only wet wear when cleaning with a sponge with "Whiteness" or a solution laundry soap but even long exposure to cat claws (painted wall near litter tray) and shoe abrasion (plywood outdoor stairs).

Technical buildings

The options for finishing ceilings in technical rooms do not shine with a variety: as a rule, slab or monolithic floor stupidly painted in White color... The slab seams are reinforced with fiberglass mesh and putty to avoid cracks.

What is the whitewash of the ceilings in boiler rooms or home workshops? As well as water-based paints on an acrylic, latex or silicate base, lime, which is common in the apartments of our childhood, is often used here. It attracts not only its cheapness: lime is a natural antiseptic that helps to clean and disinfect the air.

Finishing technique

Now - about how the ceilings are finished in an apartment or house in each specific case.

Wooden lining

The assembly of the ceiling from the lining begins with the installation of the lathing. The step between its elements is 60-80 cm, the direction is perpendicular to the lining, the material is a bar with a section of at least 40x40 mm or galvanized profiles for gypsum board (ceiling CD and ceiling guide UD).

For installation of profiles to the ceiling, straight hangers are used. They can also be used for alignment. wooden lathing if the overlap has significant irregularities. If the overlap differences are small, the lathing from the bar is attached with dowel screws directly to it or through lining from any available material.

The first lining board is fastened with a groove to the wall. Fasteners - self-tapping screws (they can be used with a wooden or metal lathing) or nails with sharp tips bitten off with pliers (for lathing from a bar). A blunt nail crushes the wood fibers rather than splitting them, which prevents damage to the lining.

For self-tapping screws, holes in the lining must be drilled with the same diameter as their thread. This precaution serves the same purpose of preventing the fasteners from splitting the board along the grain.

From the side of the wall, the lining board is fastened with a self-tapping screw or a nail passing through at a minimum distance from the wall. The fasteners will later disappear under the ceiling plinth. On the other side, the board is fastened obliquely into a tenon; here the fasteners will go into the groove of the next board.

An alternative way of fixing the lining is with galvanized clamps. Kleimer presses the tenon to the crate and hides in the groove of the next board.

The last board is trimmed in width and fastened again at a minimum distance from the wall. The fasteners are closed with a wooden baguette, which is easiest to fasten on liquid nails or silicone sealant with additional fixation to the lining with nails without heads.

When hammering them, use a doboiner (for example, a dowel for a mounting gun with a sharpened sharp tip). The doboinik will prevent you from jamming the baguette with an accidental hammer blow.

What to make the strips between the ends of the lining spliced along the length? Their slats are 3 - 4 cm wide and 1 cm thick. The slats are sanded and fixed in the same way as a baguette.

Drywall

What is the best way to make a suspended ceiling from gypsum board?

A set of CD, UD profiles and straight suspensions, already familiar to us from the lining, is used as a frame.

For the simplest single-level ceiling it is going like this:

  1. On the walls, according to the level (better - laser or water), the bottom line of the frame is marked;
  2. Along this line, the UD profile is attached with dowel screws with a step of half a meter;
  3. Parallel to the shorter wall of the room, the fixing lines of the CD profiles are marked on the floor. The step between their axes should be exactly 60 centimeters: then the seams between adjacent sheets of drywall (remember, their width is 120 centimeters) will fall exactly in the middle of the profile;

The standard size of a drywall sheet is 2.5x1.2 meters. One of the sizes must be a multiple of the sheathing step.

  1. According to the markings, with a step of the same 0.6 meters, direct suspensions are screwed to the ceiling with dowel screws;
  2. CDs are cut to length and inserted into the guides, and then attracted to the overlap by the curved ears of the suspensions;

If the width of the room exceeds the length of the profile (3 or 4 meters), straight connectors (“crabs”) are used for the CD splice.

  1. Several cords or threads are stretched between the guides across the lathing, which will be used to align the lathing in one plane;
  2. The CDs are alternately freed from the bent hangers and lowered to the level of the stretched cords, after which the ears of the suspensions are screwed to the side walls of the profile with metal screws 9 mm long;

  1. The free part of the suspensions is bent upwards.

For cladding the ceiling, a 9 mm thick ceiling gypsum board is usually used. The sheet must be lifted and secured by at least two people. For fastening, self-tapping screws are used for drywall with a length of 25 mm, which are screwed in with a screwdriver with a pitch of 15-20 cm along each profile (including guides).

The screw cap is immersed by about a millimeter and then hides under a layer of putty. You need to screw in the self-tapping screws at least 2 cm from the edge of the sheet, otherwise the edge of the gypsum board may crumble.

After the last sheet is fixed, the seams between adjacent edges are reinforced with serpyanka (strips of self-adhesive fiberglass mesh) and putty with plaster putty. It will be necessary to putty the seams and caps of the screws two or three times in order to compensate for the shrinkage of the putty when setting. After puttying, the ceiling is sanded, swept away from dust and primed with a penetrating acrylic primer for painting.

How to make a ceiling tiered? Here are some solutions:

  • Along with straight lines, use adjustable hangers when installing the frame, allowing you to choose the distance from the ceiling to the batten;
  • Use the CW profile as rigid studs between the battens and the slab;
  • Align suspended plasterboard and plaster ceilings. In this case, the loss of room height will be minimal.

The lower level will be formed by plasterboard along the frame, the upper level - by plastered floor slabs.

Tension cloth

How are PVC stretch ceilings installed?

  1. Along the perimeter of the room, at a minimum distance from the overlap, a baguette is attached - a profile on which the canvas will be stretched. The step between the attachment points does not exceed 25 cm. The most common harpoon profile fixing a film inserted into a groove with a rigid harpoon welded to it;

  1. The air in the room is heated to a temperature of about 70 C using a gas heat gun;

  1. The heated canvas is stretched and inserted with the edges into the groove of the baguette;
  2. The groove is closed with a flexible vinyl strip or skirting board.

Plastic or polyurethane ceiling plinth attaches only to walls. There is a gap between it and the tensioning curtain. This skylight can be used to accommodate a hidden ceiling light with LED strip.

The fastening of the stretch fabric to the frame of the multi-level plasterboard ceiling deserves a special mention. In this case, the frame must be reinforced with bevels, since the tension force of the web after cooling reaches 60-70 kgf per linear meter.

Plastering

For leveling the ceiling in living rooms, gypsum-based plasters and putties are currently used. They differ from pure gypsum primarily in setting time: it is increased from 3-5 minutes to 30.

Of the mixtures tested, the HP Start plaster and ABS Saten putty made the most pleasant impressions. They do not clump when mixed, and Saten additionally attracts with a long shelf life after mixing - up to 45 minutes.

Repairing the ceiling in an apartment using plaster mixes begins with cleaning it from old coatings - cement plaster and whitewash. A hard steel spatula is used to remove them; the plaster should be additionally tapped with a light pick or hammer.

So that the cleaning of the floor is not accompanied by clouds of dust, first soak the old finish, 2-3 times with an interval of a quarter of an hour, moistening it abundantly with water using a brush or spray.

The next stage is the treatment of the overlap with a primer (acrylic reinforcing primer). It will strengthen the base and adhere dust residues to it, which can affect the adhesion of the floor to the finishing layer.

If the ceiling is plastered over the entire area, it needs continuous reinforcement. How to glue it over as a base for plaster? Fiberglass mesh with a mesh of about 2 mm; it is glued directly onto the plaster, pressed into it with a spatula.

Plan B: the mesh is pressed against the ceiling and covered with a layer of plaster.

The technique of applying gypsum mixtures is spreading. For applying plaster, it seems to me that it is most convenient to use a rectangular trowel; for puttying, an ordinary steel spatula with a width of at least 30 centimeters is used.

With significant irregularities in the ceiling, it is more convenient to plaster it along the lighthouses. The extreme lighthouse profiles are leveled, the intermediate ones - along the threads stretched between the extreme lighthouses. For their fastening it is convenient to use plaster of paris setting in a few minutes.

The spacing between the beacons should be less than the length of the rule at your disposal. The plaster is spread on the ceiling, after which its excess is removed by the rule and can be used for the next section of the surface.

Panels

If the installation of stretch ceilings requires some skill and rather expensive equipment (at least a gas heat gun and a cylinder), then a suspended ceiling made of panels is easy to assemble with your own hands.

As its basis, a galvanized profile frame is used, completely identical to the crate intended for drywall. The only difference is in the step between the ceiling profiles: it should be reduced to 40-50 centimeters in order to avoid sagging of the panels under their own weight.

The frame for the ceiling panel is the same as for drywall. Reduced only the step between the profiles.

The panels are attached to the frame profiles with 9 mm metal self-tapping screws screwed into the spike using a screwdriver. The panel adjacent to the wall is screwed through at a minimum distance from the wall. As in the case wooden lining, the fasteners are covered with a ceiling plinth.

It is most convenient to glue the foam plinth on an acrylic putty: its viscosity will not allow the baguette to slide down the wall. The same filler is used to fill the gaps between the skirting board and the unevenness of the wall.

This method of attaching a ceiling molding is applicable to all types of suspended, stretch and plaster ceilings.

Problems and their elimination

Among the problems that every owner of their own home faces is not only the decoration of the apartment, but also its Maintenance... I will allow myself to give some tips on how to make DIY repairs to some types of ceilings:

  • What to do if your ceiling has collapsed in the area of the seam between the floor panels?

Low blood repair can be performed as follows:

  1. Clean peeling plaster and whitewash around the defect;
  2. Process whole ceiling acrylic primer. It will glue the layers of the finish and prevent its further destruction;
  3. Level the defect with a plaster putty, placing a reinforcing fiberglass mesh under it;
  4. Level the area of the defect by grinding;

  1. Paint the ceiling all over the area... Partial painting will be highlighted in color.
  • How to repair a sagging plastic panel ceiling?
  1. Dismantle the molding and panels;
  2. Install additional (intermediate) parallel to the old crate ceiling profiles... The reason for the sagging is only in a large step between the elements of the lathing. It should not exceed 50 cm;
  3. Sew the panels again, with the obligatory fixation to each profile.

  • How to repair accidental damage in a plasterboard ceiling?
  1. Cut out a patch from a sheet of drywall a little less than the defect in width, longer than its size by at least 10 centimeters;
  2. Screw a self-tapping screw into the center of the patch;
  3. Tie it with rope;
  4. Apply strips of PVA glue to the underside of the patch along its edges, liquid nails or silicone;
  5. Insert the patch into the gap and pull it by the rope to the back surface of the drywall sheet;
  6. After the adhesive has set, putty the break with a gypsum finishing filler.

Conclusion

I hope that my simple advice will help the dear reader in finishing and repairing ceilings. More information can be found in the video attached to the article. Feel free to comment on it and share your own experiences. Good luck, comrades!

Thanks to modern building technologies and materials, finishing the premises of a private house is not a problem. The owner chooses how to decorate the ceilings in a private house based on his taste, general design features and suitable cost. An important role in the choice is played by the design of the house, height, presence or absence ceiling beams... A new but already popular trend in construction is stretch ceilings, which are suitable for almost all premises in the house.

Ceiling finishes

When deciding the best way to finish the ceiling in a private house, first of all it is worth determining the functional belonging of the room. The requirements for the material for finishing the ceiling in the kitchen, bathroom, boiler room differ from the material for the bedroom or living room. Houses with low ceilings and rooms in attics also have their own characteristics. New buildings also have their own specifics. The owners want to arrange new flat ceilings according to the latest design trends, but the structure shrinks over time, and significant. Even small distortions are visible on the ceiling surface, and the expensive materials spent are damaged. Having considered all the pros and cons, the decision on how to decorate the ceiling in a private house is still made. How the material is used in different cases:

  • Drywall
  • The liquid wallpaper
  • Lining
  • Tension materials
  • Prop beams
  • Plastic
  • Blockhouse
  • Ceiling tiles.

Kitchen ceilings

The requirements for the materials for finishing the surfaces of the kitchen area have their own nuances. Modern kitchen is both a dining room and a gathering place for the whole family. Here are fumes, odors, high humidity. How to decorate the ceiling in the kitchen of a private house, combining all the requirements of practicality and aesthetics?

  • Whitewashing: plus - cheap, environmentally friendly, you can do it yourself. Minus - does not tolerate temperature extremes and high humidity, crumbles, quickly becomes stained.
  • Painting - cheap, available for independent work, can be washed, but short-lived.
  • Wallpaper - relatively inexpensive, washing - can be washed, gluing does not cause high costs, you can choose a color for any interior. Changes in temperature and steam can lead to peeling, especially at the seams.
  • Drywall. Does not belong to the category of expensive and inaccessible material, ideally levels the surface, makes it possible to hide ceiling communications, and to embody different design ideas... The disadvantage is small, but you need to know it: high humidity can lead to shedding of the plaster at the seams, periodically you need to repaint.
  • The latest technologies - stretch, panel or decorate any kitchen, but these materials that meet the requirements of this room do not in any way belong to the budget options.
  • Plastic is the most practical material for the kitchen in terms of maintaining cleanliness, but only its expensive varieties can be considered environmentally friendly.

Boiler rooms and utility rooms

It is good if the house has a separate room for a heating boiler. This extension, like other household buildings, does not require any special refinements in design, but cleanliness and order are also necessary here. How to decorate the ceiling in the boiler room of a private house, so as not to spend money on expensive materials, and meet safety requirements? A feature of the ceiling in the boiler room may be that several pipes, fans and other communications pass through it. If there is no need to close them from the eyes, you can leave the ceiling just plastered and not finish with anything else. Another option is to hide everything under fireproof drywall, but leave the grille inserts in places that may need to be accessed over time.

For non-residential utility rooms, especially cool ones, the best option is plastic slats or panels. Drywall is also fine, but it is better to choose a moisture resistant one.

How to decorate a wooden ceiling in a private house?

Man's craving for the natural and the natural is reflected in the popularity of country houses made of wood and interior wood trim. What about the ceilings in this case? • Reiki "block house". An excellent invention for a wooden house: does not require preliminary preparation, hides all defects, excellent heat and sound insulation material, innumerable design solutions... There is only one drawback - high cost. Almost any type of wood serves as a material for the manufacture of such blocks.

Plywood is also used in the decoration, wooden floor beams, special fake beams, boards and slats. Interesting solution for wooden ceilings- combination in the design of wood inserts with tensioning elements or versatile plasterboard structures.

Stretch ceiling

Stretch ceilings have come into use relatively recently. Not everyone is familiar with their advantages and disadvantages, the variety of texture, color and quality. Stretch ceiling is a stretched sheet of PVC film or fabric impregnated with polyvinyl chloride. The colors of the canvas are represented by the widest colors, both plain and with many different patterns. The types of surfaces of a stretch ceiling for a private house are chosen depending on the purpose of the room. How to decorate a low ceiling in a private house? Covered latex paint such a cloth is easy to clean from smoke and soot. Having stopped their choice on this option, the stove itself is chosen a small one, with a chimney of a narrow diameter. Around the pipe, you can make a wide box of drywall, like a shield.

Glossy surfaces

Liquid wallpaper is a special type of plaster made from natural fibers, dyes and binders. It is used to decorate expensive interiors, with claims to chic and sophistication.

Design ideas

When reworking the ceilings of an old house with beamed ceilings, the voids between them are often used to fill with communication wiring, and then sewn up with ceilings.Another option is to use them after processing as the main element of the ceiling design, which gives a special charm to a private house. The ceiling in the house can be finished in a classic style, with one type of material. You can do it differently. Combinations of various structures and shapes, multilevel designs, design original lighting allow you to make each house individual and special from simple materials.

Perhaps, those times when the ceiling was whitewashed with chalk or simply painted, go into the far past. Modern choice building materials presents tremendous opportunities for those who have decided to start renovating their apartment.

Ceiling panels made of a wide variety of materials, wallpaper, plasterboard and intricately shaped stretch ceilings are presented to the strict judgment of the consumer. So, we go in search of an answer to the question of how to decorate the ceiling in the kitchen.

Wallpapering

The most democratic option for finishing the ceiling is wallpapering. However, having chosen this method, be prepared for the fact that alignment and sealing of all cracks and microcracks will be required.

Wallpaper is a thin material, over time, the joints of the plates, sagging and falling off plaster will appear through it. In addition, the lifespan of such repairs is relatively short. It all depends on the purpose of the premises and operational features.

If it comes on how to decorate the corridor, then the wallpaper is quite suitable, since high humidity and dampness are rarely observed in the hallway. But for better to make a choice in favor of a different material.

Experts agree that fiberglass is the best solution for the kitchen. They will simultaneously perform a reinforcing function and hide most of the microcracks. In addition, you can safely paint them in different shades up to five times.

Before starting work, the surface should be thoroughly cleaned of old wallpaper, plaster and whitewash, cleaned and degreased. If there is a fungus on the ceiling, it must be destroyed. Most often, various antifungal compounds or special paints are used for this.

After the surface of the ceiling is perfectly leveled and prepared, you can start priming and wallpapering it.

Polystyrene panels

Ceiling made of polystyrene panels

The ceiling can not only be pasted over, but also glued. And for these purposes, special plates or panels made of extruded polystyrene are used. The modern choice of such panels is great. They can be either white or in various pastel shades.

In addition, there are plastic panels wood, metal, leather.

Despite such a great choice and low cost, most still prefer not to use this option. It is quite difficult to glue the boards perfectly evenly; the surface must be prepared as carefully as for the wallpaper. Among the advantages of finishing the ceiling in this way are the low cost and speed of work.

Stretch ceiling

Stretch ceiling

How to decorate the ceiling in the kitchen? Well, obviously not wallpaper and polystyrene. After all, these finishing methods are completely unsuitable in a room where they constantly cook. The fact is that the soot that accumulates on the ceiling of the kitchen is quite difficult to wash off.

In addition, no one canceled the neighbors from above with their ever-flowing pipes. This is detrimental to both wallpaper and polystyrene panels.

Perhaps one should get used to the idea that kitchen renovation is one of the most expensive events. Is there a solution that combines practicality and aesthetics? There is also a stretch ceiling.

Advantages

It has many advantages. Firstly, its installation is carried out literally in half a day, regardless of the initial state of the ceiling in the room.

Those who are intimidated by repairs due to dirt and mountains of debris do not have to worry about stretch ceilings. Craftsmen only need to drill a few dozen holes around the perimeter. And collecting dust in the corners is much easier than heaps of dried plaster all over the room.

Secondly, stretch ceilings allow you to mount backlighting, which will be relevant in the living room-kitchen. This will make it possible to divide the room into zones in the most advantageous way.

It should be noted that the main quality of such a ceiling is its resistance to spills from the neighbors from above. It can hold colossal volumes of water without deforming. It, as well as, allows you to create structures in several levels.

disadvantages

This method of finishing the ceiling also has disadvantages, the main one is the high cost. However, price is only noticeable as a factor when compared to wallpaper or tiles. Currently, the prices for materials for stretch ceilings have fallen, the market has become competitive, which means that ceilings are much cheaper.

Drywall

Plasterboard ceiling decoration

This universal material loved by many residents of our vast country. Still would!

They can successfully close an uneven wall, build furniture structures and, of course, make a ceiling out of it!

The main advantage of a plasterboard suspended ceiling is that it does not require preparation of the base.

Advice! A layer of insulation can be laid under the drywall, this will allow you to achieve additional sound insulation and insulation.

How to finish the ceiling with plasterboard? Not as difficult as it seems at first glance.

  1. The first stage is the assembly of the frame. At this stage, it is necessary to carefully measure all dimensions and reinforce the rails and profiles on the ceiling. Yet again! This method of finishing does not imply the preparation of ceilings, in contrast to pasting with wallpaper or panels.
  2. After the frame is prepared, the wiring is divorced. This is where the fun begins! The possibilities of using drywall are endless, you can arrange a real light illumination at home. The only thing to consider is that the size of the spotlights forces the ceiling to be “lowered” by a few centimeters.
  3. Fastening sheets of drywall to the ceiling is carried out after pre-drilling holes in them for light bulbs. If you plan to create figured ceiling, the layout is cut out in advance. After the ceiling is attached, you can proceed to finishing- and painting it.

Of course, like any finishing method, this option has not only advantages, but also disadvantages. and the installation of drywall itself is a rather dirty work, requiring the removal of furniture and significant time costs.

We hope we managed to clarify the situation and give an answer to the question of how better to decorate the ceiling. You just have to highlight the advantages and disadvantages for yourself and make the right choice.

Having decided to start a repair, you will have to choose color palette rooms, choose a way to decorate walls, ceilings and floors, find the best combination of practicality, aesthetics and, of course, price. If you explore the possibilities modern finishes, you can save the lion's share of the family budget, since everyone is well aware of how unplanned alterations can lead to huge, irrational waste.

Choosing a ceiling design option

Any redecorating begins with the ceiling, on its completeness, design and construction largely depends on the whole. To date, there are a lot of options for finishing the ceiling. They are selected based on the preferences of the owners, the purpose of the premises and, of course, the cost. When the question of saving is acute, classic budget options for finishing are chosen - painting and whitewashing, or with expanded polystyrene plates. Suspended ceilings are relatively inexpensive, but also more practical and aesthetic. And, of course, when the question of the price of repairs is not so acute, the choice may fall on elite stretch ceilings.

Let's try to describe in detail each type of finish to help you choose the best option for you.

One of the most ancient, laborious and messy methods, requiring a perfectly flat ceiling surface with neat joints ceiling tiles. Everyone remembers how much whitewash has to be washed off the floor and furniture after painting or whitewashing the ceiling. In addition, it is quite difficult to achieve a perfect uniform surface without streaks using a chalk solution or ceiling paint.

On the other hand, painting and whitewashing was and remains the most budgetary repair option. And it must be admitted that the qualitatively reconstructed painted ceiling looks quite neat and aesthetically pleasing. Plus, at your discretion, you can tint white with other shades.

It is less messy and time consuming than whitewashing, but just as inexpensive, especially along with hanging and tensioning systems... There are a huge variety of design options, from combinations of wallpapers of different patterns to their coloring in any color.

If you use special for the ceiling (ideally, liquid wallpaper), they will retain their original appearance for a long time. It is not recommended to use them in the bathroom or kitchen. In addition, the ceiling is unlikely to smooth out the unevenness of the ceiling, so the surface to be pasted should be as flat as possible.

Pasting with expanded polystyrene plates

This finishing option is very similar to wallpapering, so we will not dwell on it for a long time. The only thing, unlike wallpaper, polystyrene ceiling tiles are able to resist moisture and smooth out small imperfections in the ceiling surface.

Plastic paneling

A good option for finishing the ceiling is PVC panels. They are durable, strong, soundproof and resistant to moisture and high temperatures. The latter allows them to be used with LED and halogen spotlights. PVC panels perfectly mask irregularities in the ceiling, pipes and wiring. All in all, it is a budget alternative to more expensive trim and false ceilings.

Plasterboard ceilings

This is a versatile and inexpensive false ceiling that allows you to bring all kinds of design ideas to life, hide any surface defects, irregularities, lighting, electrical wiring, etc.

Perhaps the only drawback of drywall is its fear of moisture, so it is not suitable for a bathroom. Otherwise, drywall is almost an ideal finishing material.

Advantages:

  • Sheathing of any, even untreated surface;
  • The ability to hide wiring, pipes, ceiling seams and other irregularities;
  • Getting an absolutely flat and smooth surface;
  • Creation of a multilevel ceiling;
  • Carrying out a built-in lighting system;
  • Excellent thermal insulation and the ability to maintain a microclimate in the room;
  • Security;
  • Heat resistance and incombustibility;
  • Low cost compared to stretch ceilings.

Unlike previous finishing methods, you will have to tinker with the installation of drywall panels - install the frame, mount the plates, carry out the subsequent decorative finishing. Depending on the unevenness of the ceiling and the volume of hidden wires and communications, you can lose 5-10 cm in height. On the other hand, these are minor drawbacks, since as a result you get a beautiful, inexpensive, perfectly flat ceiling of the design you like.

If you are interested in finishing plasterboard ceilings, be sure to read!

In addition to the aforementioned plasterboard ceilings, false ceilings can be made of fiberboard and MDF. These are durable, safe, moisture-resistant finishing coatings, of a huge color and textured variety.

MDF and fiberboard can imitate wood, tiles, untreated brickwork or natural stone. The surface of the slabs can be easily painted with enamel and oil paints, pasted over with foil, decorated with slats and other elements, thereby creating an imitation of beams. Such a false ceiling will allow you to create an “expensive ceiling effect” and embody many interesting design solutions.

Dropped ceilings

The most popular type of mid-range ceilings. A suspended ceiling is a construction when various finishing materials are fixed to a wooden or metal frame. With its help, you can easily hide all the flaws and irregularities of the ceiling, wiring and communications, you can carry out a climate ventilation system, install built-in lamps.

Distinguish:

  • Cassette ceilings - durable, durable, moisture-resistant and fireproof steel or aluminum plates (cassettes), commonly used in public spaces - restaurants, hotels, offices, medical facilities, etc.
  • Armstrong-type ceilings are a budget finishing option that has become widespread, both for administrative premises and home rooms. They are easy to install, inexpensive, aesthetic slabs made of pressed mineral fiber, with thermal insulation, fire resistance and increased light reflectivity, which allows you to save a lot on lighting.
  • Rack ceilings are very durable, shockproof, moisture resistant and fireproof metal ceiling... It does not need scrupulous care, does not rot, does not accumulate dirt and dust.
  • Mirrored ceilings - allow you to create a rich, spacious and stylish design with lots of light and depth of space.

The last type of ceilings is elite modern fashionable stretch ceilings. In addition to the fact that this type of design looks very expensive and stylish, it is also a fairly practical way to decorate the ceiling.

  • Stretch ceilings create an absolutely perfect surface, hide the asymmetrical shapes of the room, cover all irregularities and communications;
  • Stretch ceilings hold a lot of weight, in case the neighbors decide to flood you;
  • The material does not allow moisture to pass through, which allows it to be used in all rooms without exception.
  • A very wide variety of designs - from the choice of color or texture (matte, glossy or satin) to photo printing, glitter, jewelry and more.

Unfortunately, the installation of stretch ceilings will not do without cons:

  • This is the most expensive type of finishing;
  • They can only be installed by professionals using special equipment ( gas cannon);
  • The canvas is afraid of mechanical damage, sharp objects, it is easily punctured.

Stretch ceilings are not installed in cold rooms without heating or with temperatures below +5, they lose their technological properties.

Choosing a ceiling design depending on the room

Now you know the features of each type of finish and can make a choice.

But remember that the choice of material for finishing the ceiling is highly dependent on the place. You cannot wallpaper the ceiling in the bathroom, and hope that in a month the appearance of the ceiling will remain in its original form. Most likely, yours will go with divorces, if not peeled off at all.

In the living room

On the kitchen

Is a place with constant vapors, temperature changes and special requirements for hygiene, therefore kitchen ceiling must be moisture resistant, fireproof, environmentally friendly and easy to maintain. Whitewashing and painting the ceiling in the kitchen, as well as wallpapering are long gone due to their fragility. On such ceilings, stains and stains quickly appear, they crumble, peel off, and due to the large accumulation of steam they become an excellent breeding ground for fungi.

If there is a question of price, then it is better to use laminated polystyrene tiles or relatively inexpensive PVC panels.

For large irregularities, best solutions will become gypsum, suspended or stretch ceilings.

To the bathroom

The requirements are the same as for the kitchen. Due to the large amount of fumes, the risk of accumulation of fungi and pathogenic bacteria, the need for regular cleaning of surfaces, plasterboard ceilings, ceilings covered with wallpaper or finished with chipboard and fiberboard panels without special impregnation are completely unsuitable for the bathroom.

Few can boast large area bathroom, therefore ideal option there will be suspended slatted and mirrored ceilings that will expand the space, add more light and shine.

Plus, they are quite easy to care for, they are perfectly cleaned of stains and plaque.

A more expensive alternative is a stretch ceiling, which is also ideal for a bathroom.

Choosing a ceiling for your home

For Khrushchev

The small height of the ceilings in Khrushchev, unfortunately, is not a myth, but a harsh reality. Their maximum height is 2.40 m or even less if the floor was replaced and screed in the apartment. Naturally, in such conditions, it is quite difficult to install a suspended or stretch ceiling, which will steal 5-10 cm from an already small height.But it is still possible if the real surface of the ceiling does not have too large transitions, and the ceiling can be installed with minimal loss of space ...

For a modern new building

Unlike Khrushchev, choosing a ceiling for a new building is much easier. Here, the ceiling height is higher and the quality is newer, so you can choose almost any type of finish. It should only be borne in mind that within 2-3 years, the new building will shrink a little, which may affect the geometry of the premises. Therefore, finishing materials, especially for the ceiling, should be installed with some margin. All types of suspension and tensioning systems are ideal for new buildings.

For a private house

In a private house, the issue of thermal insulation is acute, therefore, the ceiling material should retain heat well in the house. Since the outer covering of the ceiling must also take into account the layer of insulation (from expanded clay, mineral wool or foam), it is best to use frame structures - suspended and stretch ceilings.

For suspended ceilings, a frame is first assembled for attaching an external ceiling (cassettes, drywall, etc.), and then a layer of insulation is laid in the space between the profiles. For stretch ceilings, on the contrary, first create a frame from bars for insulation, lay it, and only then stretch the outer canvas.

From the choice of the light source and correct placement light depends on what kind of room you get in the end - small and dark, large but cold or warm and cozy.

Chandeliers and lamps

The classic lighting option is a chandelier in the center of the ceiling. Gives a lot of warm light, perfectly suits almost any type of interiors, gives the room an exquisite coziness.

Remember the mass of the lamp! It is not safe to mount a heavy chandelier on light drywall; it is better to mount it to the concrete base of the ceiling.

Unfortunately, this type of lighting is not very suitable for modern suspended and suspended ceilings, therefore, it is gradually being replaced by built-in lighting.

Spotlights

  • They allow you to create the necessary lighting around the perimeter of the entire ceiling and make a certain pattern out of it, if provided by the designer;
  • Easy to install fixtures and replace bulbs;
  • Security. Spotlights do not heat the ceiling;
  • Rotary models allow you to change the direction of lighting as needed;
  • It is comparative inexpensive way lighting.

LED strips

LED strips are a very non-standard and non-trivial approach to room lighting. You can not only choose an unusual lighting color, but even create a real light show at home, thanks to dynamic light effects - smoothly changing colors, light music, waves, etc.

Modern trends in the design of ceilings

  1. Light neutral tones make the room more spacious, brighter, higher. If you decide to use patterns or bright colors, accent them in one small place so that the room does not become clumsy.
  2. Multilevel ceilings allow you to perfectly divide the space into zones. For example, a bulging section of the ceiling will perfectly concentrate attention on the bed in the bedroom.
  3. The glossy, mirrored and lacquered surface diffuses light, creating the effect of a 3-dimensional space.
  4. For a low room, a plain light plasterboard ceiling with edges located at the edges is ideal. LED strips... This illusion will visually raise the ceiling.
  5. The ceiling, sheathed with wood or wood-like clapboard, in conjunction with light furniture gives the interior naturalness, wealth and comfort.
  6. The glossy finish of the bathroom walls matches perfectly with the matte ceiling.
  7. The eternal question of repairs is to do it yourself or to provide work to professionals. In fact, many of the above methods for decorating the ceiling are not particularly difficult and may well be done independently. You can easily whitewash or paint the ceiling yourself, paste over it with wallpaper or expanded polystyrene plates. With a certain skill and study of video tutorials, you can plant on a frame plasterboard or MDF panel.

    The only type of ceiling, the installation of which is recommended to be entrusted to specialists, is a stretch ceiling. First, because it takes at least a little practice to install it. Secondly, because the canvas is stretched with the help of a special expensive gas cannon, which is not advisable for you to buy for one repair.

    We offer several video tutorials on decorating ceilings yourself, and you already decide how much these methods are within your power.
