Guides for the block house. Fastening the block house to the wall: how to do it right? Use of finishing nails

Finishing the facade of the house or cladding internal walls require a material that will not only protect building structure from destruction, but also decorate the building. Under these parameters, many finishing materials are suitable, different in shape, size, performance properties.

In private one-story construction, for arranging the facade, wood, metal or vinyl block-house panels are often preferred. This article will discuss what a block house is and how to install it.

Block house is a high-quality material for facing facades and walls inside the building. In shape, it resembles a rounded log, sawn into two equal halves.

The quality of processing is much higher than that of ordinary wooden logs. For device interior partitions panels are used that imitate a full-fledged construction timber. Sheathing a house with a side house means getting a complete imitation of a wooden building in the old Russian style.

Kinds

Block house panels are made of wood, metal or plastic (PVC).

Wooden

Widely used in decoration country houses and cottages. Wooden block house creates a complete imitation of a log structure. Main indicator- the quality of the wood. There are extra-class panels without knots and cracks from the best varieties wood. They are distinguished by high cost.

You can choose more cheap option from wood of a lower class. Then on the surface there will be chips and cracks, knots. The processing quality is noticeably lower.

A wooden block house is an eco-friendly and safe material for the human body, which can be used to decorate any facade. Installation of elements must be carried out with extreme caution, as the wood can crack. wooden facade must be treated with an antiseptic to inhibit the processes of decay, as well as maintain a satisfactory appearance.

metal

Imitation wooden beam from bent metal profile. With it, you can only finish the facades, it is not intended for cladding interior spaces. A metal block house is often used for building facades sheathed with insulation.

The cost of the material is much lower than wood. The metal block house is very durable. It protects the facade from all types of destruction. It does not deform from the action of moisture, it belongs to the class of fire-resistant materials.

The installation of a metal block house is much easier to do with your own hands than a wooden cladding device.

On closer inspection, the facade of a metal block house looks worse than a wooden one. The sheets quickly heat up in the sun, raising the temperature inside the building.

PVC

They are used when you need to get a facade that looks like a wooden one, but for less money. PVC block house has a duller color. The panels do not need to be additionally impregnated with an antiseptic. They can sheathe dilapidated and emergency facades. They are not destroyed by moisture and ultraviolet rays. PVC block house is easily and quickly mounted, they are not afraid of open fire. They have a huge selection of colors.

Panels are installed not just end-to-end, but taking into account deformation gaps. This can cause difficulties for inexperienced installers. Seasonal temperature fluctuations can lead to a violation of the integrity of the PVC panel sheathing.

Block house installation

All types of panels are mounted on wooden or metal carcass. There are differences in the method of attachment. Wooden elements are latched into a special lock, it is almost impossible to make a mistake.

between metal and PVC panels leave a clearance gap. With its help, temperature changes in the size of the facade are leveled. To increase the energy efficiency of the building, a layer of mineral insulation can be inserted between the wall and the cladding.

In addition to directly block-house panels, a lot of additional elements and frame parts:

 1. Crate. load-bearing frame consists of a metal profile CD 27x54 or a wooden bar with a section of 50 × 50, 60 × 60 mm. To attach the profile to the wall, I will fit U-shaped suspensions.
 2. Corner panels. Used to get neat joints ordinary block house panels on the internal and outside corners building. Used to complement metal and vinyl facades.
 3. Slopes, tides. Ebbs are made of galvanized steel. The size is selected individually for each window. Often ebbs are installed together with plastic or wooden window structures.
 4. Door frames. Close the gap between door frame and wall. Platbands are selected for a specific door. They can be wood, metal or plastic.
 5. Insulation. For cladding wood or brick house outside block house can be used
 6. Vapor barriers. The base film is applied. One or two coats required. It releases steam in one direction, not passing water back
 7. fasteners. To fix the hangers to the wall, a 40-60 mm self-tapping dowel is required. The profile is connected to the hangers using self-tapping screws for metal with a 25-40 mm drill.

Panels are fastened to the crate in three ways:

 • On nails - for panels with a thickness of not more than 20 mm. The nail is driven into the comb or body of the element.
 • On self-tapping screws - the most common mounting option. Only galvanized screws are used. If you use ordinary ones, then smudges from corrosion of fasteners will appear on the facade.

Kleimers - clamps for fixing block house panels at the bottom or top. Kleimers are attached to the profile with self-tapping screws.

How to calculate the consumption of a block house and additional elements

The number of block house is calculated based on the surface area for finishing. To simplify the calculation methodology, you can not subtract from the total area of windows and doors. Then you do not need to add 10% to trim the material.

The frame is calculated based on the height of the facade. The standard profile installation step is 500-600 mm. The vertical installation step of U-shaped suspensions is 600-1000 mm. For each suspension, 3-4 self-tapping dowels must be laid. To connect the profile with the suspension, 2-3 metal screws are needed.

Additional elements are considered running meters or finished units.

Preparation of tools for work

In order to avoid delays and downtime during the installation of block-house panels, it is necessary to carefully prepare the tool:

 1. Laser level, building level, measuring tape, plumb line, mason's lace, marker or crayon.
 2. Bulgarian with disks for metal, hacksaw, jigsaw, scissors for metal.
 3. Hammer, screwdriver, screwdriver, mallet with a rubber knob.

For a particular block house made of metal, wood or plastic, not all the tools from the list may be needed. This is a compilation list for all three options.

Preparing the house from the outside for sheathing with a block house

Preparation begins with a visual inspection. If the house is made of wood, then Special attention should be turned to lower crowns. In what condition are they, is there a fungus.

Stone houses are inspected for cracks in brickwork and their character. If the cracks are through and cross several rows of masonry, then there are problems in the foundation. brick wall can be treated with an antiseptic.

It is necessary to remove all hinged elements from the facade, stretch the wiring for external lighting.

Lathing installation

Block house is produced in special panels equipped with spikes and grooves, so trim the walls ... Available in many colors and easy to use installation. Possess light weight, so there is no significant load on foundation of the house. However, these panels are...

As the proverb says: every man must build a house, plant a tree and raise a son. And if the last two points do not cause any particular difficulties, then when building your home, you may have some questions. Using the advice on the site, you probably already managed to build your wooden dream without any problems, and now it remains to give your log house finishing touch- make it finish.

Trying to preserve the style of the log house, we will consider the option of finishing it with a block house, or rather, the rules and tips for fixing and laying it, so that you do not have questions about how to fix the block house with your own hands. Due to the fact that the block house is presented on the market in several versions, therefore, the methods of its installation will differ slightly. All work on finishing the house should be started after the shrinkage of the house, otherwise your efforts may be wasted.

Before starting any work on laying the block house, you must first prepare the walls of your wooden house.

Note: the caulking of a wooden house is made at least twice: the first after the completion of construction, the second in a year and a half, when the log house gives the necessary shrinkage and shrinkage. The third in 7-9 years.

External preparatory work.

Virtually no different from interior decoration log house. The only thing worth considering is that when facing a building, it is always insulated with additional materials (polystyrene, mineral wool, etc.). This can be overlooked in interior design.

Additional preparation also includes drying and antiseptic treatment of the wooden panels of the block house. Iron, vinyl and plastic block house does not require any preliminary procedures.

Having completed all the necessary preparations, you should decide what type of block house you will use to finish the building.

Stage two. Crate for fastening the blockhouse.

wondering how to fix block house you first need to understand what it needs to be attached to. The crate is needed primarily in order to ensure a smooth surface of the walls and additionally insulate them with various materials. For a block house, only a vertical crate is used due to the peculiarities of its appearance (have you ever seen a log house with vertically located logs anywhere?).

Before starting the crate, it is worth using a level and a plumb line to mark the walls and only after that proceed with the direct installation. To do this, with the help of a level, it is worth pulling the fishing line at the top and bottom of the wall. It’s worth starting with the longest of the walls of the log house, while the line is first stretched at the top of the wall, then the lower line is leveled using a plumb line (this is done so that the wall is not littered).

Wooden crate.

This type of lathing is made from wooden planks (20*50mm) or bars (30*30mm; 40*40) which are attached to the log house wall with galvanized nails or self-tapping screws.

The first bar is attached to a vertically stretched fishing line, all subsequent ones must also be adjusted to a horizontal level. To align the slats, sawn and boards are used, small spacers, which, depending on the need, are adjusted along the entire length of the slat or bar. The fastening step of the bars is approximately 40-60 cm, depending on the type of block house used.

It is worth remembering that wooden crate requires the same treatment as the log house (antiseptic, etc.). It is mainly used for a wooden blog house.

Advantages:

 • Wooden planks can always be hewn to the correct level, in case they are nailed a little unevenly.
 • Such a crate has a large bearing capacity and is preferred for exterior decoration.
 • Although fastening will require cutting spacers, the fastening process itself is simpler than that of a metal profile.

Flaws:

 • The price of a tree is an order of magnitude higher than a profile.
 • The tree needs additional processing.

Tip: for greater load-bearing capacity and stronger and convenient fastening you can apply the method of counter-lattice. In which, after mounting the main guides, perpendicular beams are additionally attached to them. Such a crate is more stable, but its price is correspondingly higher.

Fixing the block house on wooden house

Lathing from a metal profile.

How to fix a block house in a metal version is very simple. With such a crate, a U-shaped (UD) is used, which is attached to the wall using spacers that are also bent in the form of the letter P. With the help of spacers and their bends in the right places, the profile is aligned along level and the required plane of the walls is achieved. All elements of the metal profile are fastened exclusively with self-tapping screws. The step of fastening the vertical bases is from 35 to 50 cm due to the weaker bearing capacity, as an option, it is worth considering the option of a conrobrete.

Advantages:

 • Faster installation
 • It is easier to level the crate with the help of spacers
 • Availability and low price material used
 • Does not require additional processing

How to properly fix the metal crate under the blockhouse

Flaws:

 • Weak bearing capacity of the structure
 • Difficulty attaching wooden planks (limits attachment options)
 • Limited applicability for external purlins

The metal profile is mainly suitable for the iron and siding version of the blog house.

Plastic crate.

Enough the new kind building framing with plastic profile. Mounted mainly on a flat surface by means of self-tapping screws. It has an easier installation system and increased bearing capacity (compared to metal), but it is very difficult to find it on the market, and if the walls of the log house are not even, the use of a plastic profile is almost impossible.

Stage number three. Blockhouse fixing.

Having decided on the crate of the building and making a choice in favor of one of the materials, you have come to the main question: how to fix the block house? Whichever type of laying you choose, it is worth remembering that they all mean mounting the block house panels in a horizontal direction from the bottom of the wall up.

Installation of wooden panels block house.

The most representative type of block house, made in the form of a wagon board and imitating a rounded log or timber. Suitable for any type of finish due to its attractive appearance and excellent combination with other materials. Great for any home, whether log cabin, brick or block.

This type of block house is the most expensive and requires a more complex approach to the mounting process. There are a fairly large number of options for laying wood panels, consider the most popular.

 • With the help of a kleimer. Kleimer is a special bar used to connect the panels of a block house with a crate, as well as providing a tight connection of the panels to each other according to the “thorn-groove” system. The kleimer is inserted into the groove of the board and, using a self-tapping screw, connects it to the crate bar. The only drawback is the gaps that may appear between the panels due to the kleimer (eliminated with a special wood-colored paste).
 • In this case, fastening occurs with the help of a self-tapping screw or a bunch, which is driven and sunk with a hat into the “thorn” of the panel. This method is fraught with a chipping of the “thorn” if not installed correctly and, accordingly, the panel is defective.
 • Like previous version, a bunch / self-tapping screw is driven into the spike, but only at an angle of 45 °, this method is more effective and most risky (due to the increased risk of damaging the panel).
 • Using a drill, holes are drilled in a wooden panel for a self-tapping screw / nail. After the panel is fixed, the fastening cap is sunk into the hole and hidden with a special adhesive. wooden cork. After grinding it, the cork resembles an ordinary knot. Quite laborious and at the same time reliable option mounts.
 • This method is relevant only for an outdated type of block house that does not have a tongue and groove fastening system and is made in the form regular board on one side and logs on the other. For it, both method No. 4 and the option of attaching to special glue or liquid nails are used.

Note: The self-tapping screw must at least double greater length than the board thickness of the block house.

All of the above listed options (except for No. 5) are identical both for fastening from the inside and for the exterior of the building. It is worth remembering that both internal and external cladding can be used to insulate the walls of a log house.

Don't forget: Wood is a whimsical and demanding material. If you have used it for exterior cladding, feel free to follow up with it every 4-5 years!

 • The best view of the building, both inside and outside.
 • With proper care, it does not lose its attractiveness over time and is easily updated.
 • The thickness of the board (2-4 cm) provides additional insulation and noise insulation.
 • Risk of damaging the panel with some mounting options.
 • Additional costs of money and time for periodic re-treatment of the tree.
 • combustibility of the source material.

Metal block house.

A very promising and most importantly economical option for decorating a house for a block house. Appeared relatively recently, but has already managed to gain popularity thanks to its excellent performance, low price and excellent appearance. It is attached mainly to the metal profile and is best used for exterior decoration of the house.

The main advantage of such a block house is its increased resistance to the environment. The panels are fastened using self-tapping screws, which are drilled into a specially designed perforated mounting plate. This type of connection is simpler than wooden panels, but requires additional insulation. Usually wind / moisture is placed in such a crate protective film and mineral wool or foam.

Advantages:

 • Price and availability
 • Various color schemes
 • Ease of installation
 • Increased resistance to external influences
 • Durability (warranty from 25 to 50 years)

Flaws:

 • The impossibility of restoring the finish after the end of its service life (unlike wood, metal cannot be repainted or varnished).
 • In summer, at high temperatures, in a house sheathed with such a block house, a steam room is obtained due to the high heating of the metal.
 • Sometimes it's hard to hide mechanical damage such upholstery.

Siding, vinyl, plastic.

The terms siding include all synthetic finishes for a block house. Their undoubted advantage is the high range and high availability of material. And due to the large variety of siding panels, the possibility of layout various styles cladding performance.

Installation, as in the case of the metal version, occurs by means of threaded screws. But with external cladding, it is worth considering the susceptibility of such panels to temperature extremes. Because of this, when they are installed between the panels (this is most acute for vinyl panels), a temperature “pocket” (gap) remains. It is necessary so that when the temperature rises (and, accordingly, the panel expands), the siding does not split or crack. On average, the gap is from 1 to 2 mm, it is worth considering that the panels themselves, when fastened with self-tapping screws, should also not be rigidly connected to the crate (you need to leave a gap between the cap and the panel of at least 1 mm).

Due to such gaps, the effectiveness of home insulation is reduced. To solve at least a little this problem allows the use of plastic crates of the building. Due to the fact that the crate, like the siding itself, is subject to deformation and structural change during the temperature difference, rigid fastening to such a frame of the crate is allowed.

 • Price quality
 • Ease of installation
 • Tons of design and layout options
 • No need for additional processing
 • Attractive appearance
 • Poor resistance to temperature changes
 • Weak resistance to mechanical damage

Reminder: only wood look block house can be considered a full-fledged wall. It has enough load-bearing capacity for a bookshelf or wall hanging, other types of block house are simply not designed to be driven in with nails or screws (driving a picture stud into a metal or plastic block house is a big problem).

Episode four. Completion of installation. Difficulties.

Although it would seem that the question and the installation stages are described above, you may encounter following questions and problems.

Wooden block house.

 • Angles. The most hard part installation. craftsmen with straight arms, special grooves are cut in the corners of the log house, into which the panel board is laid. This method has a very attractive appearance. Less capable people cover the joints with the help of special corners, planks and rails (such strips are attached mainly to glue or liquid nails).
 • Another option is to cut the panels into a 90° angle. With this arrangement, the plank, as it were, falls into the plank of the adjacent wall and an imitation of laying the log “into the bowl” is obtained.
 • The second complication can be door and window openings. Fortunately, to solve this problem on the market, you can find a fairly large assortment of various platbands that will hide the gaps and harmoniously fit the doors and windows into the overall picture of the house lined with a block house.

Video how to make corners

Metal block house

The main problem in the design of this type of block house is the need to purchase additional additional elements (corners, panels to hide joints, skirting boards, etc.)

Siding, vinyl, plastic.

Like metal version requires a large number of additional additional elements. It should be noted that due to the large number of siding options and the general type of fastening of these panels, this option is the best suited for the noble cladding of your wooden house, at minimal financial cost.

It is worth remembering that in itself, finishing a house for a block house implies significant costs, but:

 • If having made the decision to make your home in wooden style even during the construction process, you can use glued or profiled timber (which is much cheaper than a solid log), and then finish it under a block house. You will get almost the same log house for a much lower price.
 • In the case when the log house skewed the walls during shrinkage, as an option to correct the situation and give the log house the desired look.
 • When using cheap logs in the construction process, in order to give nobility to the building.
 • As additional remedy insulation, protection from wind and moisture, as well as noise insulation of the room.
 • And finally, just to develop a flight of fancy and give originality to your home when creating a design.

As paradoxical as it sounds, it is wooden materials that are best suited for finishing a wooden house. The use of other types of block house is justified only in case of lack of funds, because no advantages synthetic material, can not be compared with the beauty of natural wood.

And in the hope that having understood how to fix the block house with your own hands, you will not miss the main thing, preserving the style of your log house, make a choice in favor of the material you need.

Block house is a modern wood product that is used for exterior and interior decoration of the walls of the house. This element is installed quickly and easily due to the presence of a groove and a spike in the end longitudinal part. In principle, the technology for installing a wooden panel inside and outside the house is not much different. Of course, there are similar products on sale from other materials (steel, polymers) that are attached in a slightly different way, but many homeowners prefer wood panels, so in our article we will tell you how to sheathe a house with a block house.

material requirements

First of all, you need to choose a quality and durable material which is suitable for exterior finish. As a rule, the manufacturer packs the panels in shrink film, so that you can inspect the product well and evaluate its quality, you will have to open the package.

To sheathe the house outside, you need only high-quality panels, so you should not purchase products that have the following defects:

 • there should be no dark knots on the front surface;
 • deep cracks are not allowed;
 • there should be no mold or rot;
 • blue wood is also a reason to refuse a purchase.

Important: at quality product for exterior decoration, the pitching size should be no more than 0.8 cm wide and no more than 0.2-0.3 cm deep.

Also when choosing quality material It is worth paying attention to the location of the annual rings. Since dense wood is more suitable for outdoor decoration, it is worth choosing products on which the annual rings are located as close to each other as possible. This material is characterized high quality, excellent density and good moisture resistance.

Materials and tools

Having bought a block house, the installation of which is carried out without the use of specialized tools and accessories, you can handle it yourself. Self-tapping screws are usually used to fix the boards, so you will need an electric drill to work.

In addition, it is more convenient to mount block house panels using clamps. For the production of these fasteners, galvanized steel is used, so the elements have corrosion resistance, which is very important for maintaining the beautiful appearance of wood. Kleimer is a flat plate with a protruding tongue. The product has cuts for installing screws. The panel is fixed and held thanks to this tongue.

Important: you can install a block house using clamps with a height of at least 6-7 mm. If there is a choice between self-tapping screws and kleimers, then preference should be given to the latter.

Benefits of using clamps:

 1. With the use of clips, the panels can be fixed without the risk of deformation and cracking.
 2. Thanks to the use of such fasteners, the joints of the panels will be almost invisible. As a result, the outer finishing layer will be more beautiful.
 3. Installing a block house will be much faster, because it will take more time to screw in the screws.

It is worth buying a mount for a block house in the form of kleimers on the basis that 200 kleimers will go for every 10 squares of sheathing. However, such a large expense does not mean that you have to spend a lot on the purchase. The price of fasteners is quite affordable.

When sheathing a house with a block house, you will have to cut some panels into more short elements, so you need a power saw to work. However, if the amount of work is insignificant, then you can easily get by with a regular hacksaw with fine teeth.

Tip: if desired, you can use circular saw. However, the blade must be free of carbide, which can cause uneven cuts.

Sheathing your house with a blockhouse, you should not forget about its insulation. Mineral wool can be used as a heater. This material has good heat and sound insulation characteristics. You can also choose other types of heaters based on mineral wool.

Attention: the use of foam as a heater should be abandoned, due to low vapor permeability and poor combination with wood. In addition, the foam supports combustion.

You will also need a beam to make the frame of the crate to which the trim will be attached. The dimensions of the timber should be chosen taking into account the thickness thermal insulation material. In addition, the cladding of the house with a block house is carried out using a vapor and waterproofing membrane. A vapor barrier material is needed to protect the insulation from the accumulation of condensate in it, and waterproofing will protect against atmospheric moisture. As a vapor barrier, you can take ordinary glassine, a special modern membrane material or a traditional perforated film. For waterproofing, ordinary polyethylene film is ideal.

Preparatory activities

Before fixing the block house, all wooden elements must be treated with an antiseptic composition. In addition, flame retardant treatment is recommended to protect against fire.

Before sheathing a brick, aerated concrete or wooden house with a block house from the outside, you should do the following:

 1. First, a vapor barrier material is attached to the walls. Strips of material are fixed horizontally with an overlap of 10-15 cm. A stapler or staples can be used for fixation.
 2. Next, we mount a crate of timber on the walls. To attach the frame to a wooden house, you can use self-tapping screws or nails, and frame dowels are suitable for a brick or aerated concrete surface. The installation step of the beam should be selected taking into account the width of the plates of the heat-insulating material.
 3. In the space between the crate we lay the heat-insulating material.
 4. Next, a waterproofing film is attached over the insulation. It is fixed to the crate with staples or a stapler.
 5. After that, we attach another crate to the main frame. It is needed to form ventilation gap behind the panels of the block house. This will protect the material from decay and damage. It is to this crate that the facing elements will be attached.

Panel installation

Do-it-yourself installation of a block house is carried out in the following sequence:

 1. The installation of panels begins to lead from the bottom corner of the house. In this case, the block house is mounted horizontally with the groove down.
 2. To fix the panels with the help of kleimers, the fastener is attached to the crate so that the spike of the panel enters into the legs of the kleimer. If you use self-tapping screws, then you must first drill holes in the board. Fastener installation step - 400 mm. The self-tapping screw is screwed into the spike of the board at an angle of 45 degrees.
 3. Next, the groove of the next facing element is put on the spike of the previous board. Installed panel again fixed to the crate with clamps. Thus, the installation of the finish is continued until the entire facade is sewn up.

For finishing exterior and internal corners you will need special ready-made elements. These are factory polymer products, like those used when decorating walls with siding. However, when using them, there is a significant drawback - the panel fits snugly to the profile only at the top point, as a result, uncovered cracks will remain in the finish at the corners. In principle, this can be considered a significant drawback.

That is why it is better to use a planed beam with a section of 0.5x0.5 dm for the design of corners. It is attached to both walls in the area of the corner before sheathing. Next, the panels in this place are cut from the end at 45 °. Thus, the boards on the walls adjacent to the corner are joined end to end to each other without the slightest gaps. This method can be used in the design of internal and external corners.

Additional points

Sometimes the panels are fixed to the crate directly through the front surface. In this case, visible recesses with a fastener head remain, which can be hidden in the following ways:

 1. From scraps of elements, you can cut plugs according to the dimensions of the hole. Next, the corks are glued into the recesses using adhesive composition PVA. After it dries, the surface is polished.
 2. You can purchase ready-made plugs that are sold in hardware stores. At the same time, plugs can be found on sale different color, so you can easily match the product to the color of your finish. PVA glue is also used to fix these plugs.
 3. You can also close the recesses from the installation of fasteners with the help of a special wooden paste. Such a paste can be prepared independently from sawdust and an adhesive composition, for example, PVA. The prepared composition should be thick enough. The holes in the panels are filled with this mixture. After it dries, the surface of the board is polished. This method is the easiest and least expensive, but it is very difficult to prepare a pasta that matches exactly the color of the facing material, therefore, even after grouting, the installation sites of fasteners may be slightly noticeable.

Video instruction for self installation house block:

February 7, 2018
Specialization: master in construction drywall constructions, finishing work and installation floor coverings. Installation of door and window blocks, facade finishing, installation of electrics, plumbing and heating - I can give detailed advice on all types of work.

Today we will figure out how to properly install the popular finishing material, which is called a block house. It differs from all other options in that the elements have a semicircular surface, which creates the effect of volume and imitates log wall. In the review, I will talk about three main mounting options, and we will also analyze some of the nuances of the workflow that are important to know for everyone who sheaths walls on their own.

Mounting options and their features

Before you start installing the skin with your own hands, you should perform certain preparations. We will talk about them first of all, and then we will move on to specific mounting options that can be used.

In order for the wall cladding to have an attractive appearance and serve for a long time, you need to follow a few simple recommendations:

 • Choose quality products. All products are marked by grade, it is better to buy the first (A) and the second (B). They have a more attractive appearance and a minimum number of flaws on the surface. Below is a table that describes all the requirements for each variety, using it you can check the compliance of the option proposed to you with regulatory requirements;

When buying, pay attention to the storage conditions of the material. If the panels are stacked under a canopy or film, then their humidity will be much higher than declared. The block house must be stored in warehouses.

 • The material must be acclimatized. If you are fastening the elements outside, then unpack the block house and let it lie under a canopy for 2-3 days. If you need to sheathe the walls inside the premises, then the elements must be brought inside, unpacked and left for 2-3 days. This operation allows you to balance the moisture and temperature of the wood and environment and reduces the likelihood of cracks on the surface;
 • To insulate the walls under the sheathing, it is better to use mineral wool.. It fits much better than styrofoam and allows the wood to breathe. As for the thickness, it all depends on your region and the heat-insulating properties of the walls. Usually the standard 50 mm option is selected;

 • The wooden crate for the block house must be strong. The quality of the surface sheathing directly depends on the reliability of the base. Therefore, use a beam with a section of 40x30 cm or more and check the reliability of its fastening to the wall.

Use of finishing nails

This method is most often used inside the house, for outdoor work it is better to choose one of the options described below. The instructions for wall cladding are simple:

Illustration Description
Special finishing nails are required for installation. They differ in that they have a reduced cap size and a special anti-corrosion coating.

They can have a diameter of 1.2 to 2 mm and a length of 20 to 60 mm.

The first mounting option is in a spike at a right angle. As can be seen in the diagram, the nail is driven into the straight section of the spike, the attachment point is closed by the protrusion of the next panel.

It's over easy way, which is much simpler and faster, which I recommend to beginners.

The second option is in the groove at an angle of 45 degrees. In this case, the panels are fixed with nails, which are hammered into the recess of the groove at an angle of 45 degrees.
First, pieces of the required size are cut off.. Do not forget that it is necessary to leave deformation gaps of 5-7 mm at the edges.

It is best to cut the material with a jigsaw or a conventional hand saw.

The crate is attached. The beam must be placed at a distance of no more than 60 cm. It is rigidly fixed to the wall, it is important to check the plane so that the elements fit snugly against the surface.

If the walls are very curved, then it is better to fasten the bar through suspensions, with their help it will not be difficult to bring the plane out.

Installation is easier to start from the bottom. The first element is placed, aligned and attached to the bars in the way you choose. The nail is placed to the surface and carefully hammered almost to the plane of the block house.
Nails are achieved with a spacer. Picked up suitable element through which fasteners can be hammered without damaging the surface.

If you don’t have a special finisher, take an ordinary nail 120-150 mm long and cut off the point from it.

It is important to join the elements well in length. The easiest way is to knock the panels through the spacer until it stops, then you can mount it.

Using self-tapping screws

Mounting with self-tapping screws is similar to the option described above, but there are some differences that we will consider:

Illustration Description

Self-tapping screws 3x25 mm are used for work. They have a small diameter, which is very important. For screwing, you will need a screwdriver with a 3 mm drill bit and a PZ1 bit.

Fasteners may have different sizes, but this option proved to be the best.

Holes for self-tapping screws are drilled in the grooves. This is done with a 3 mm drill, before installation, make sure that the fastener passes normally and its length is enough for normal fixation, ideally the self-tapping screw should protrude at least 15 mm.
The element is put in place and fastened. It is better to call an assistant to hold the block house until it is securely fixed.

Try to screw the fasteners so that the hat does not protrude above the surface.

Using kleimers

Kleimer is a special fastener with which a block house is attached. Setting the elements in this case looks like this:

Illustration Description
This is what the claimer looks like. This special bracket, which is nailed with two carnations, they are always included.

When choosing, you should take into account the thickness of the spike on the block house, it is by it that the type of kleimer is determined.

Finishing is very easy:
 • The panel is exposed on the crate with the groove down;
 • From the bottom side, a clamp is put on all the way;
 • Two cloves are hammered. Such fasteners should be on each bar of the crate.
This is the easiest way to arrange a block house in the corners. Join the elements evenly, and then close the connection wooden corner. There is no need to cut and join anything, everything is simple, the technology is suitable for both external and internal corners.
And so the surface is prepared for sockets and switches. Since the texture of the material is such that there are no flat areas, you need to think over the location of the elements in advance and cut out even planes.

Two cuts are made on the sides, after which all excess is carefully removed with a chisel, and the surface is polished.

AT recent times it became popular to build houses from natural materials. But what if your house was built a long time ago and it has brick or concrete walls? Do not demolish it because of fashion trends. If you want to be in trend, check out how to fix a block house.

Block house - a material for finishing a house, which creates an imitation of the execution of walls from log cabins of trees. In a house lined with such material, you can spend many warm winter evenings.

Any outer lining requires preliminary facing works. In our case, this is the treatment of walls with protective mixtures, the elimination of too large irregularities with the help of putty or the sealing of crowns for a log house.

If you have chosen a block house made of plastic, metal or vinyl for decoration, it does not need to be processed, but the wooden panels must be additionally dried and treated with an antiseptic.

Lathing installation

Frame, installed primarily for leveling the walls and for the possibility of insulating the building. Fastening the block house to the wall can only be made on a vertical crate. First, mark the surface using a level and plumb lines. To do this, you need to stretch the fishing line at the bottom and top of the building.

Tip: Start with the long wall at the top, aligning the bottom line with it so you don't overwhelm the wall.

If the crate is made of wood

Such a crate is an assembled frame of planks measuring 2 by 5 cm or bars 3 by 3 cm or 4 by 4 cm.

The components of the frame are fixed to the wall with nails / self-tapping screws. For this you need:

 • fasten the initial bar parallel to the fishing line;
 • fix the next at a distance of 40-60 cm, using the level.

Tip: Use spacers to align the frame slats along the entire length.

Wooden crate is popular because it is easy to align the frame parts by sawing in the right places, it has a high load-bearing capacity, it is much easier to fix it than a metal block.

Attention: ensure a good load-bearing capacity by making a counter-lattice - installing the beams perpendicular to the rails.

Metal crate

You can make a crate for a block house like this:

 • attach spacers outside to the facade of the house U-shaped profile, bending the spacers in the form of the letter "p" in the right places;
 • align the crate using a level and bending the spacers;
 • done with self-tapping screws in increments of 35–50 cm.

Attention: the metal profile crate is mainly made for siding and iron panels.

Crate made of plastic

The most modern crate is plastic, for installation it requires perfectly even walls.

The fastening of the block house is made with self-tapping screws, it is identical to the previous version.

Block house installation

There are several ways to attach the block house to the crate or directly to the facade of the house. The installation method is determined by the type of material. In any case, the installation will be carried out from the bottom up and horizontally.

If you prefer a wooden block house

The most expensive type of block house, made of natural material under a log or timber.

Used for decoration wooden houses, but also mounted on block or brick building. There are many types of fasteners, consider the most affordable.

 • To firmly connect the panels to each other according to the “thorn-groove” system, you will need straps for installing samples on the crate - kleimers. It must be installed in the groove of the panel and attached with screws or nails to the guides. When fastening with clamps, air gaps that need to be eliminated with wood-colored paste.

Attention: a self-tapping screw or a nail is driven into a “thorn”, the chipping of which will render the panel unusable.

 • In another version, a self-tapping screw or a nail is driven in at an angle of 45 ° - this way you minimize the risk of damaging the panel.
 • You can also make holes in the panel with a drill, and then sink the hat in the adhesive mass and hide it with a cork made of wood. When, after drying, it is sanded, it will look like a knot. This method takes a lot of time, but it is reliable.

Tip: You need self-tapping screws at least twice the thickness of the panel.

 • If you purchased panels without a fastening system, you can use liquid nails or an adhesive solution.

An attached block house made of this material will not be cheap, especially taking into account the costs of subsequent processing or the purchase of additional panels if one of the main ones was damaged during installation.

Despite these difficulties, such a finish looks chic, does not lose its attractiveness, and in itself serves as a sound insulator and insulation.

If you prefer a metal block house

With a low, relative to the previous view, the panels of this block house resist more qualitatively external influence. For installation, it is enough to fix them with self-tapping screws through the holes of the mounting plate.

Before properly fixing the block house, in order to exclude the penetration of moisture and wind, they lay on the frame special film. To insulate the structure, a heater is placed under the film: polystyrene foam or mineral wool.

Attention! This finish will serve you from 25 to 50 years. Unfortunately, after this period, it will have to be completely changed, since it is impossible to paint or varnish the damage. And in the summer it will be especially hot, due to the strong heating of the metal.

If you prefer plastic, siding or vinyl

All panels made of artificial materials were able to gather in this category. They are inexpensive and are presented in a wide range of products. Thanks to this, you can combine several styles in the cladding of your home.

Finishing the house with vinyl siding.

Installation takes place with threaded screws. The panels do not fit closely due to expansion when heated, it is customary to leave a gap of 0.1–0.2 cm between them. The screw must also be fixed at a distance of 0.1 cm of the cap from the panel. Thanks to such actions, the panels will not lose their appearance from cracking during temperature changes.

Attention! So that the level of thermal insulation does not fall, it is necessary to tightly mount it on a plastic crate, which expands and narrows along with the block house.

finishing touches

Each type of block house has nuances that you can encounter in the process of work:

 1. Block house made of wood. The most difficult moment is the finishing of the corners. If you have experience working with wood, you can easily make grooves in the corners of a wooden house and lay panels there. Another option is easier - just purchase special corners and fix them liquid nails on the corner rails of the frame. Alternatively, cut down parts of the panels so that they can be folded at an angle of 90 °. For the slopes of doors and windows, a variety of platbands have been developed that complement general form building.
 2. Block house made of metal. Difficulties in finishing are correct selection additional materials: plinth, corners and others.
 3. Block house from artificial material- also requires the purchase of a large number of elements, but thanks to this, it allows you to recreate the designer's idea in full at low cost.
