Point location. The location of the fixtures on the ceiling: the rules of the game with light

Spotlights can complement or even replace the central ceiling chandelier because:

 • The main plus is that they allow you to make the lighting in the kitchen uniform, diffused, soft, both separately and in combination with a chandelier or LED backlight. An ordinary ceiling lamp without additional lighting creates shadows and visually narrows the space;
 • Lighting on LED and halogen lamps is very economical, and the installation of spotlights with the ability to turn on in parts, that is, only where needed in this moment, for example, in the work area when you cook, greatly saves energy;
 • Swivel spots and ceiling-wall lamps can direct the light where you want, thanks to which you can profitably beat the advantages and disadvantages of space - visually lift low ceilings, expand, zone, etc. How to do this will be described below;
 • In addition, you can use single-color or colored light bulbs, forming unusual design lighting, dividing zones and placing accents.

The disadvantages of spotlights include:

 • More complex installation compared to a chandelier;
 • The need to think over the placement of light sources on the ceiling even at the repair stage, and the placement of spotlights built into the kitchen set at the assembly stage;
 • Not everyone likes this modern type ceiling lighting in the kitchen, to some it may resemble an “office” backlight. But it's a big delusion, today spot lighting you can organically fit even into the traditional interior of the kitchen as in the photo below. The main thing is to choose the right design lighting fixtures.

 • Types of spotlights for installation are divided into: mortise, overhead, pendant. If mortise can only be built into suspended ceilings(, etc.), then overhead (external) lamps can also be installed on a conventional concrete ceiling, since on the basis of the body of such a spot there is a special mounting plate for screws;
 • Recessed models are the most popular type in the category of spotlights, so they are presented in a very wide range of colors, designs and sizes;
 • Mortise lamps can be completely recessed into the base and then they are practically invisible, or they can, on the contrary, decorate the ceiling, protruding above its surface with a beautiful decorative diffuser;

 • Spotlights can create local, basic and decorative lighting;
 • Each of the installed devices is able to illuminate no more than two square meters of the room;
 • Modern appliances are fireproof, and therefore can be used in combination with any finish. And their body is made of moisture-proof material, which makes it easy to withstand high humidity;
 • There are designs with an internal or external location of the light bulb, which provides directional or diffused light, respectively.

Advice:

 • How simpler design spots, the easier it is to take care of them - to wash off greasy deposits, dust, etc .;
 • For stretch ceilings, it is better to choose round or rounded lamps;
 • For a more economical and rational consumption of electricity, install a dimmer, which is also called a rheostat or dimmer.

Types of lamps

Lamps are: LED, halogen or incandescent.

LED lamps enjoy well-deserved popularity. They are economical and consume very little electricity, and practically do not heat up. Therefore, LED devices can be used in combination with the most different finishes- their location, even near flammable materials, will not lead to fire.

LED recessed luminaires are swivel and non-swivel. Swivel lamps allow you to change the direction of light.

Appliances with incandescent lamps installed give a bright, pleasant light familiar to everyone, but they are much larger in size, so they require installation with a large margin, in addition, they have a short service life.

In terms of durability and energy consumption, halogen lamps are beneficial, but they are also considered the most expensive. They give bright, close to natural lighting, but have one drawback - the lamps get very hot, so choose fixtures with metal frame, glass diffuser and ceramic cartridge.

Keep in mind that halogen spotlights require a transformer that converts the usual 220 watts into the required 12 watts. The power of the transformer should slightly exceed the total power of all halogen bulbs.

Installation of spotlights in the kitchen with stretch ceilings implies a limitation on the power of the installed lamps. So, the power of halogen devices should not exceed 35 watts, and the power of incandescent lamps - 60 watts. This is due to the properties of the material, which can melt from too high temperatures.

Placement of fixtures and the rules of "playing with light"

To create the main lighting in the kitchen, ceiling spotlights should be placed at a distance of at least 30-40 cm from each other. A distance of at least 20 cm is maintained from the corner of the wall. Experts advise setting one point per 1.5 square meters. m or follow the following recommendation - for every 1 sq.m of the ceiling there should be a lamp of 20 watts. If you want to install fixtures with a power of more than 20 W or plan to combine them with a chandelier, then their number can be reduced.

Using the correct location of spotlights, you can easily change the whole perception of space.

You can visually expand a small, narrow or elongated kitchen if you install a group of several lamps along the center and on both sides of the ceiling of a narrow or elongated kitchen. That is, the main objective- fill the space as evenly as possible with soft, diffused light without shadows.

In lighting large spaces, the main task is to arrange light sources so that they perfectly illuminate all functional areas, but at the same time create coziness, intimacy and a pleasant atmosphere. Most often, the lamps are arranged as in the photo below: there are spots around the perimeter of the kitchen, and hanging chandeliers in the center above the table or island.

The most versatile option for placing spotlights in the kitchen is as follows: in the center of the kitchen, above the table or bar counter, you can hang ceiling lights or a chandelier, and install spots only above working area right above the kitchen cabinet.

But if the kitchen has low ceilings, then it is better to choose rotary models and direct their light up to the ceiling, as well as install lamps on the visor wall cabinets kitchen set. It is better not to hang a chandelier in a low kitchen.

In addition, spotlights allow you to perfectly zone the room, highlighting each of the functional areas. As a rule, in the joint spaces - in the studio apartment, kitchen-dining room, kitchen-living room, the work area, the kitchen area or the adjacent hallway is highlighted with spot lighting, and the recreation or dining area is illuminated by a chandelier and pendant lights.

Spotlights are simply created for decoration and illumination. two-level ceilings. In this case, as a rule, embedded models are used. You can highlight everything or only one level as in the next photo on the right.

How to properly mount spotlights

Installation of spotlights requires the preparation of certain tools and fixtures:

 • Terminals for connection;
 • Screwdriver with a flat end;
 • Crowns for wood or metal (the latter will be required to work with a slatted ceiling);
 • Mounting knife for stripping wires;
 • Drill;
 • wire cutters;
 • pliers;
 • Stairs.

Connecting spotlights is impossible without creating an appropriate electrical wiring. At the first stage, a lighting box is installed - it is mounted in such a way that it has free access to it all the time. This means that it is not worth putting the box behind the skin. After that, from the box to each lamp is laid separate wire. Wires must be placed in a corrugated pipe, necessary for protection.

If you plan to stay in plasterboard ceiling, then the work is carried out in the following sequence:

 • The location of each device on the ceiling is precisely marked, while the location of the guides must be taken into account, the lamps should not be attached to them;
 • A hole of the appropriate size is cut out on a drill with a crown, and for square devices, a hole is made with a jigsaw;
 • The previously laid cable is taken out through the hole. Of course, during the work, the wire must be de-energized. In order to get the cable out of a small hole for sure, a wire hook is used;
 • The wire brought out to the outside is connected in accordance with the colors through the terminals. If use LED lights with screw terminals for the wire, no terminals are required;
 • This is followed by the location of the lamp in the hole, as a result of which it is fixed with special clamps-springs;
 • A lamp is screwed into the device, and after that a decorative ring is put on;
 • Perform a system performance test.

Human life is directly related to lighting and its level at a particular point in the housing. In past years, the design of lighting devices did not pay much attention. Modern techniques repairs involve many technologies in the design of the ceiling space. This includes various types hanging devices. Therefore, much in the perception of the interior depends on how to arrange the lamps on stretch ceiling and how many are needed.

Lighting is part of the interior of the room. However, it would be wrong to think only about beauty. Being in a room, a person should feel comfort and peace. Properly selected lighting and additional lighting will allow you to be in the comfort zone. For ceilings made of fabric or film, a chandelier, spots, or a combination of them are suitable.

hanging chandelier

This lighting device has been used for decades and enjoys well-deserved popularity among designers and just homeowners. As a rule, in a room with a ceiling of any type, it takes center stage. The chandelier has the following advantages:

For many years, this lighting suited most consumers. But over time, fundamentally new types of lighting technology began to appear, which made us look at the chandeliers from a different angle. This made it possible to notice such negative features:

 • Only the center of the room is most brightly lit.
 • With this method, shadows are formed on the surfaces of furniture and walls.
 • A single light source does not allow you to focus on a particular element of decor.

Point equipment

On a stretch ceiling, it is most advantageous to place spotlights. This is the most organic addition to the interior. They have a number of key benefits.:

 • Installation in rooms of any type.
 • Long service life.
 • Endless varieties.
 • Vibration resistant.
 • Provides a constant stream of light.
 • They can be built into pieces of furniture.

Due to the small sector of illumination, such devices are practically not used one by one. Most often, this is a group of devices located in random order and of any number. Power is supplied to them both in parallel and in series.

Structurally, they are divided into rotary, with a movable axis that allows you to change the direction of the light flow, and installed exclusively vertically. They are cheaper, but creating the right direction of illumination with their help is much more difficult.

Before starting the installation of the canvas, it is necessary to consider the power supply and how to arrange the lamps in the stretch ceiling. A properly selected scheme will allow you to make zoned lighting or highlight some area or piece of furniture. The color of the surface also affects the number and design of light sources, especially for combined ceilings.

Competent combination various devices will create a unique atmosphere in the room. There is no standard for spotting. An important role is played by the size and purpose of the room, the number and dimensions of furniture. Usually, when developing a lighting plan, one of two currents is followed:

 • The use of many medium power lamps is used in the classical scheme. They are arranged in groups in various forms and can be included either together or separately. This option is suitable for allocating separate spaces of the room.
 • The combined lighting method looks a little different. Here the center of attention is the chandelier, and small arrays of spots create additional illumination of various corners of the room. As a rule, they work together with the main lamp or are switched on separately.

Several factors influence the location and number of lighting fixtures. They must be taken into account when designing light in a stretch ceiling:

Layout Affecting Restrictions

The service life of stretch ceilings depends on the location of the integrated luminaires. The choice of lighting equipment and the scheme of their installation must be agreed with the following conditions:

Recessed lamps

To date, there are four types of lamps for spots, on which the lighting of the room depends. Their use has its pros and cons:

Lighting layout

For different spaces, there are options for placing spotlights on a stretch ceiling. It depends both on the size of the room and its use. The number and arrangement of windows matters.

Ceiling in the hall

For living rooms, the arrangement of lighting elements is purely individual and there are no special exact rules. The fantasy of the hosts allows you to accept any design solutions. Most versions involve placing a powerful LED spotlight or a group of weaker spots in the center of the room. Suitable for the role of the main light source and a chandelier. It is supposed to arrange low-power devices in a circle.

Local lighting involves several groups of 2-4 lamps in each local space. For small room some developments do not provide a pronounced middle, leaving the entire surface to the LED bundles. Installation of LED strips is more suitable for two-level ceilings. This helps the distribution of lighting between parts of the room.

For a comfortable stay in the room, it makes sense to power the most powerful lamp separately. Leaving only dimmed lights, it is convenient to watch TV.

When determining the lighting scheme of the hall, you need not forget about additional devices such as sconces and floor lamps installed next to armchairs and a sofa.

bedroom light

This room does not need intense lighting. Since it is intended for relaxation, the light here should also be soft and diffused. Usually 3 or 4 LED spots are distributed, evenly spaced along the ceiling. On bedside tables small lamps are installed for individual illumination. To adjust the luminous flux, it is recommended to install dimmers.

The cold spectrum for bedrooms is contraindicated, a yellowish warm shade will be most welcome. If a lot of low-power devices are selected, then a round or oval shape is best for placing them. Large rooms for recreation, they suggest installing a small chandelier in the center, and with the help of spots, delimit the area into a sleeping, dressing area with separate lighting dressing table. In this scenario, the illumination of each sector is supposed to be turned on separately.

Spotting in the kitchen

Correct placement of all spotlights in the dining room, the ability to adjust the level of illumination will emphasize individual characteristics design. There are several such methods. A small kitchen needs one powerful central light, which can be either a spotlight or a chandelier. Illumination of workspaces in this case is performed using local lighting points.

For spacious dining rooms, these areas are delimited by several combinations of spots. Lighting in this case must be divided and dimmed: for dining area calmer, brighter for the worker, even cold shades will do.

Like other rooms, the design of the lighting scheme ranges from classic, with rounded shapes, patterns and pendants, to modern, where polygonal fixtures predominate.

Lighting in the hallway

The idea of the apartment and its owners begins to take shape right here. The first thing guests encounter is the decor in the corridor and, of course, its lighting. And for the residents of the apartment, comfort at the entrance to the house is no less important. As in all rooms, the light in the hallway depends on its size. However, there is almost always a central point where the brightest lamp stands.

Zone lighting in small spaces without access to natural light is organized at work points. As a general lamp, a chandelier with a mount on mounting plate, which will visually increase the volume of the corridor. In large or polygonal hallways, one light source will not be enough. Therefore, local points are placed on the stretch ceiling in those parts that are not covered by the central lamp.

The improvement of finishing methods, as well as the release of new technologies in lighting engineering, allows you to take a fresh look at the organization of lighting throughout the apartment. Subject to the rules and regulations, you can achieve completely unexpected results in interior design.

The demand for stretch fabrics is associated with a number of advantages that allow you to completely transform any ceiling. Unlike suspended structure The height of the wall does not play a decisive role here. It is only important to solve one question - how to place the lamps on the stretch ceiling in order to better emphasize its merits.

Designers are increasingly choosing this finish option, as they manage to organically fit the ceiling into the chosen style and make it a real decoration. You no longer need to be afraid whether multi-level stretch ceilings are suitable for the kitchen or will be appropriate only in the hall and bedroom. Thanks to them, several problems can be solved at once, especially if you use spotlights.

Advantages of a stretch ceiling

Stretch ceiling has a number of advantages over hanging system, where there are many restrictions:

 1. Installation takes minimal time further care also does not cause much difficulty.
 2. The main material used is fabric or vinyl film. Involved rich color palette with up to 200 shades. Can imitate precious metals, wood and stone.
 3. The film can withstand heavy loads and is not afraid of water if the neighbors flood. After drying, the ceiling will again take a beautiful look.
 4. You don't have to do it endlessly redecorating, it will be possible to hide all the flaws and irregularities. The service life reaches 50 years.

Installation helps to solve the problem of illumination. The correct location of spotlights on the stretch ceiling will allow you to better perceive the space, remove discomfort, highlight areas for work and leisure.

TIP: It is better to entrust measurements and installation to specialists. There are many nuances here and some experience is needed. The fabric canvas is great for unheated rooms such as a loggia or a summer house, as it can withstand low temperatures.

Criteria for choosing fixtures

The market today offers new lighting devices that work using innovative technologies. To place them, you need to carefully study the characteristics of the structure, canvas, lamps, etc. Only then will it be possible to find the exact location of the fixtures on the stretch ceiling.

 1. A chandelier, even if a lot of powerful light bulbs are installed in the ceiling lamps, is not able to illuminate all distant corners, highlight decorative elements. But it is well suited for a large living room or bedroom if other stretch ceiling fixtures were used.
 2. We must not forget about the parameters of heat dissipation. For a web of film, they should not exceed 40 W, and for fabric - 60 W. Otherwise, a quick deformation will occur if spotlights were used on a stretch ceiling with powerful lamps of 80 or 100 W.
 3. If you place lamps with an outdoor location, then they do not heat the canvas as much and cool faster. In addition, it will be possible to direct a powerful stream of light to a large area of the room, use lamps up to 70 watts.
 4. Before placing spotlights, calculate how many spots are required. The number should be equal to the area of the room divided by 1.5. For a 20-meter room, this is approximately 12 elements.
 5. It is preferable to install rotary models that can instantly direct light to a specific area.

The placement of lighting fixtures can now be decorative or aesthetic. This is due to the materials of manufacture, shapes, sizes and lamps of different power.

TIP: before installing the fixtures, accurate measurements of the ceiling are made. Spots should be located no closer than 20 centimeters from the wall. The distance from the hanging chandelier to the ceiling is 15 centimeters, for spotlights - up to 20 centimeters.

Lamp parameters

It is necessary not only to decide on the place where it is planned to install spotlights on a stretch canvas. It is very important to choose the right lamps that will be able to fit in and change the interior for the better.

 • An inexpensive incandescent lamp is well suited for a bathroom, pantry or hallway. There are no problems with operation, but the service life is limited and too much heat is generated.
 • Higher ratio useful action at fluorescent lamps. A little heat and bright light will not damage the tensile structures. The disadvantage is associated with the inability to use light control devices. They are badly affected by excessive moisture.
 • With the help of a dimmer, you can adjust the brightness of halogen lamps. They will last much longer, just be careful during installation and maintenance.
 • Despite the higher cost, LEDs are ideal for stretch ceilings. There is minimal heating, a softer natural beam of light can have different color shades. Such a ceiling lamp will last from twenty to thirty years.

The LED is easy to replace. It does not attract dust, is not afraid of humidity and temperature changes. Needed literally for all premises. An additional advantage is the minimum power consumption.

TIP: the calculations must take into account the purpose and total area, the presence of a chandelier and other lighting fixtures, the power and type of lamps. Halogen should not be more powerful than 35 watts.

Accommodation options

Before placing the lamps, you need to carefully study the main options for their location again. In the living room, point devices can be located in the form of semicircles or a large oval. As a result, it will be possible to illuminate all corners of the room, the central part will be decorated with an elegant chandelier.

 • In the kitchen, you can use the corner option by mounting some of the LEDs directly into the kitchen set. On dinner table or a bar counter will be given a stream of light by a chandelier or sconce mounted on the wall.
 • In a standard bathroom, there are usually from 4 to 10 spotlights. An arc arrangement is suitable here, allowing you to highlight the main zones.
 • For a nursery, it’s good to use the shape of a cross. You can completely abandon the chandelier and evenly distribute the flow of light.
 • The circular shape highlights the center of the bedroom, but leaves in the shadow the corners where the bed or chairs are installed.
 • The rectangular arrangement makes it possible to visually expand the space, often used for a corridor.
 • Spot can make the surface of the ceiling non-standard. It is easy to create a wavy line, embody a drawing or a pattern using colored LEDs.

Good lighting is needed for winter garden and gym, aviary and aquarium, areas for work and study.

The luminous flux is able to create a certain atmosphere, highlight the most important elements and hide imperfections. Some secrets and recommendations:

 1. It is preferable to install the chandelier directly in the center, but at the same time use several switching modes to control the lighting.
 2. Depending on the shape and size, both symmetrical and asymmetrical arrangements are used. LEDs and halogen lamps can be arranged around the perimeter or in a zigzag pattern.
 3. For a narrow and long space, a row of lamps lined up directly in the center looks better.
 4. A glossy stretch ceiling looks more spectacular if the spotlights are mounted on the wall. Such reflected light will emphasize all its advantages.
 5. In the bedroom, you need to cover the light source behind the molding or cornice. Diffused lighting is created and the area itself visually expands.
 6. For a bathroom, it is recommended to use up to 8 spotlights, leaving an approximately equal gap between them. It is necessary to highlight all the metal chrome elements and the pattern on the tile.
 7. In the kitchen, the working triangle is necessarily well lit, which is now often connected to the island and the counter. Numerous built-in LEDs on the ceiling and furniture will help to cope with this task.

The ceiling is the most common place for installing spotlights, chandeliers and LED backlight. The location of the fixtures depends on the number of fixtures, the structure, area and shape of the ceiling.

The slightest nuances should be taken into account, otherwise a technically incorrect decision will negatively affect the interior, lighting and energy costs. Different requirements for the placement of lighting devices are presented depending on the type of room.

Types of ceiling lighting

Before considering the basic requirements and rules for the location of fixtures on the ceiling, we will determine the types of devices suitable for apartments and private houses. On the ceiling you can see:

 1. Chandelier - a traditional lighting fixture, in most cases mounted in the center of the ceiling. It consists of several horns with socles for many light bulbs. Illuminates the room well.
 2. Recessed spotlights. Also called "spots". Install exclusively on a stretch ceiling (suspended). Drown part of the body in tensile structure, and leave the decorative, front side in plain sight. Often mounted around the perimeter of the ceiling or in certain areas (reading, applying makeup).
 3. Illumination - decorative lighting. The apartments use LED strips, on the streets you can find more varieties, including neon bulbs.
 4. No less popular are wall and table lamps, floor lamps.

What lamps can be used in recessed fixtures

The built-in luminaire has at least one base. The light bulb is selected depending on the type of base and lighting requirements. An important factor is the structure of the ceiling.

There are certain limitations in stretch ceilings - fabrics, films and other materials used in the arrangement are not resistant to heat, therefore, halogens and CFL housekeepers (compact fluorescent lamps) with a power of no more than 20 watts are installed here. When using an incandescent lamp, the power should not exceed 40 watts. If the ceiling is made of fabric, then the power limit rises to 35 and 60 watts, respectively.

In the case of LED strips, there are no restrictions, since during operation the temperature of the devices is many times lower than conventional lamps. In such a situation, focus on the shape, brightness and color temperature. The latter affects the luminous flux - the device can shine in cold white or warm yellow.

Basic placement rules

Before installing fixtures, you need to study a number of requirements for installation. To improve the quality and efficiency of lighting, follow the recommendations below:

 1. The distance from the spotlight to the corner of the wall and ceiling must be at least 200 mm.
 2. If there is only one chandelier, then place it strictly in the center of the ceiling. In studio apartments, it is recommended to use one chandelier above each work area.
 3. In stretch ceilings, the distance from the built-in lamp to the seam of the PVC film is at least 150 mm.
 4. One point device illuminates no more than 2 square meters. m. When calculating the right amount lamps rely on the fact that one lamp gives enough light for 1.5 square meters. m.
 5. With a symmetrical arrangement ceiling lights keep the same distance between the appliances, the individual device and the wall.

The distance to the windows does not matter. Your main task is to ensure that the light falls on all objects in the room. Recommendations are suitable for installing spots in stretch, suspended and rack ceilings.

Calculation of the required number of spotlights

important preparatory stage before installing spotlights is to calculate their number. The rule "one lamp per 1.5 sq. m "relevant, but ideally, you need to take into account the power of the devices. For one square meter spot 20 watts required. When using a 30–35 W lamp, it will be possible to illuminate 1.5 square meters. m. Divide the area of the room by a fractional number and get the number of fixtures you need to fully illuminate the room.

Depending on the chosen layout, the number of fixtures varies up or down. This is where the type of room comes into play. For example, bedrooms tend to have fewer fixtures because there is no need for bright lights. In the living room or corridor, where there are no windows, the number can be increased. In the latter case, separate switches must be installed (for groups of luminaires - at least two for full and partial lighting) and dimmers that can adjust the brightness of the glow. The most popular is the connection of lamps through one, in a checkerboard pattern.

The location of the fixtures on the ceiling

Above we talked about the influence of the type of room on the layout of fixtures on the ceiling. Every detail is taken into account, starting from the geometry of the room, the location of windows and ending with the requirements for illumination of specific areas. Do not forget about the aesthetic component - the room should look like a single whole, the light should fall on objects designed to focus attention.

The standard option is the presence of a chandelier in the center of the ceiling, and spots around the perimeter. Typically, lighting fixtures are chosen in the same style or neutral spots are bought.

Some people prefer to do without a chandelier, considering it a relic of the past. But the absence of such may be due to the type of room: it is difficult to imagine a bathroom or corridor with a large, beautiful and bright chandelier. In the first case, this is due to electrical and fire safety, in the second - to aesthetics. On the other hand, not only the corridor, but the bathroom and toilet are rooms where there are no natural light sources, so we strongly recommend increasing the estimated number of lamps.

Below we will talk about how to arrange the lamps depending on the type of room.

In the bedroom

The bedroom is a place where people come to relax and unwind, so the presence of bright light will not lead to anything good. Choose light bulbs that emit a soft, warm and unobtrusive light. Avoid using products with bright white or light blue shades.

Often, spotlights in bedrooms are arranged in a circle or in the shape of an oval. Spots can be placed along the wall opposite the bed. This is especially true if the TV is attached to the wall. Fans of laconic design, minimalism and hi-tech styles will like a classic set of lighting fixtures and a standard arrangement - one chandelier in the center, spotlights along the long walls.

In the living room

The most important room in which most of the waking time is spent. Install a colorful chandelier in the center of the ceiling, and spots around the perimeter. Lamps located along the edge of the ceiling, when the chandelier, which is the main source, is turned off, will give a subdued light.

As in the bedroom, the standard option is to use one chandelier and several lamps, but in this case there will be more of the latter. If there is only one place for the chandelier (in the center), then the spots can be placed in the form of various geometric shapes. In a hall with an asymmetrical ceiling, consisting of several levels, you can do without the use of a chandelier. In such a situation, lamps should be placed in groups, illuminating different zones.

Children's

Improper lighting design in the children's room promises much more trouble. A more diversified scheme is required here. Your child will grow up, he will need to study, do homework, so take a separate area and make bright lighting. Adequate lighting is required in the play area, but it is important not to overdo it. Finally, it is recommended to organize a more subdued light over the sleeping area. For this reason, the first thing you should do is decide on the location of the bed, table, play area, and then calculate the number of lamps.

Using bunk ceilings lighting fixtures are installed along the level boundary. There are many more schemes for flat ceilings - you can take one of them or come up with your own.

In the kitchen

The kitchen is another room, consisting of several zones. The brightest light is required above the dining table and work area (cooking). In the first case, you can install a large chandelier on the ceiling, in the second - supplement it with spots built into lower part hanging cabinets.

Another layout is associated with the spot installation of fixtures, the line of which will coincide with the contours of the kitchen set. But the spots do not need to be mounted directly above the edges of the furniture, but 15-20 cm closer to the center of the room, which guarantees an even distribution of light.

For the kitchen, the choice of the location of lighting fixtures depends on the style of the room itself and your preferences. To create a soft or chamber interior, use schemes with circles. Laconic design requires more direct geometric patterns. Must try different sizes and types of lamps.

In the bathroom and toilet

There is no need for a chandelier in these rooms. This is due to the small area and electrical safety. Used spotlights in the bathroom are installed in the form of a rectangle or oval along the walls. Above the mirror, you additionally need to hang a wall fixture.

In addition to design and style, do not forget about the good moisture protection of the selected electrical appliances. because of high humidity try to avoid the use of fluorescent lamps, the inductor of which is leaking. Luminaires must be able to withstand fumes and splashes from both hot and cold water. The location depends on the specific devices.

Small-sized bathtubs remain so even with a combined bathroom. It won’t work out much here - the area is still small. In a normal situation, two or three lamps are located above the bath and shower, and a few more in the rest of the room. If you don’t like conciseness, then try to buy lamps that are interesting in design or use electrical engineering with different beams of light.

In the corridor and hallway

The installation of spotlights on the ceiling in the corridor depends on geometric shape premises. In a narrow opening, there are enough spots located in one row. AT rectangular room it is ideal to use four lamps that form a given geometric figure.

Do not forget that spotlights can be mounted not only under the ceiling, but also in various objects, as is done in the kitchen (under hanging cabinets).

Installation instructions

The installation of spotlights in stretch ceilings begins with the laying of electrical wiring along the base ceiling. This is done before the installation of the tension structure. After completing the work, mark the areas where the lamps will be located. Build fasteners for them in advance. After installing the ceiling, make cuts in the marked places, install thermal rings that will not allow it to break further. Pass the wires and connect the light sources at the end of the work.

Choosing the location of fixtures is a process that requires the implementation of certain recommendations, compliance with the rules of electrical and fire safety and creative approach.

Lighting plays an important role in the decor of the room. Properly chosen arrangement of lamps on a stretch ceiling or other finishes can transform a room beyond recognition; in a large hall, space can be zoned, and a small area can be visually expanded. As an example, we will give several typical luminaire layouts, as well as present interesting design solutions for various kinds premises. Since spot lighting (spotlights) is now popular in interior design, maximum attention is paid to it.

Where on the ceiling to place lighting fixtures, everyone is free to choose for himself, but at the same time, technical nuances should be taken into account, as well as the basic marking rules:

 1. Lighting devices should create a certain level of illumination for a particular part of the room. For example, there is a place for bright light above the working area, in a resting place it is better to make the lighting “muffled”, if it is not enough, you can always install additional lighting ( table lamp, floor lamp, sconce, etc.).
 2. It is necessary to adhere to the general rules when placing ceiling spotlights:
 • If the backlight is located along the perimeter of the room, then the minimum distance from the spots to the walls should be at least 20.0 cm. Deviation from this rule will lead to a deterioration in light scattering and possible “overheating” of the wall surface.
 • Between the nearest lamps there should not be less than 30.0 cm. Depending on the design of the lighting fixtures, the material of the ceiling surface, as well as other factors, this norm can be revised, as a rule, upwards.

We have listed the basic standards for any type of ceiling stretch coating, now let's move on to particulars.

Choosing a luminaire for stretch ceilings

Separately, mention should be made of the power of lighting devices installed on stretch fabrics. Since the latter are critical to a strong increase in temperature, a number of limitations must be taken into account. For PVC films, they are as follows:

 • The power of a light bulb with a filament (LN) should not exceed 40 watts.
 • Halogen lamp - 20 W.

For satin sheets:

 • LN - no more than 60 watts.
 • Luminaires for stretch ceilings on halogen lamps - a maximum of 35 watts.

Nowadays, LED bulbs and strips are increasingly being used, since their heat generation and electricity consumption are much lower than other ceiling lights with the same level of luminous flux. When organizing LED backlighting, it should be borne in mind that to power the tapes, special blocks power supply (driver), which must be placed in an accessible place. As for the same type of lamps, their drivers are built into the bases.

Popular luminaire layouts

There are many options for lighting design, but it is not possible to name the most optimal location for ceiling lights. This is due to the fact that many factors must be taken into account, from the area of the room to the location of the windows. You should also decide whether spotlights will be used as additional lighting (together with pendant chandeliers) or main lighting.

If possible, it is better to consult with a lighting designer about the placement of fixtures. For those who decide to deal with this issue on their own, we can offer several typical options for placing ceiling lights.

Figure 1. The most common schemes for additional lighting to the central chandelier

Such embodiments not only contribute to uniform distribution lighting throughout the area, and, if necessary, allow you to make bright lighting of work areas.

Spots can also act as the main lighting fixtures, in which case it is important to distribute them in such a way that they not only look beautiful, but also fulfill their intended purpose, fitting into the interior design.

Photo examples of interesting options

Here are a few good decisions lighting design for various types premises. Among the examples will be present as typical schemes and original compositions.

For corridor and hallway

In such rooms there is no need to make bright lighting, therefore, the central chandelier can be omitted. Sources are installed along the walls or around the entire perimeter, if there are mirrors, it is desirable to illuminate them additionally using wall lamps.

Below is a similar option, but with a central chandelier.

If the corridor is narrow, then place spotlights in its middle, creating a light path, if necessary, you can make additional lower lighting on the walls, as shown below.

A similar arrangement is possible for multi-level ceiling, as can be seen from the figure, this version is more original.

If there is a glossy stretch ceiling in the corridor, then spotlights directed upwards look good as additional lighting. Their rays reflected in the ceiling will create interesting game Sveta.

Luminaires on a stretch ceiling do not have to be installed at the same distance from each other, the asymmetric scheme looks quite original.

For small square hallways, we can recommend the classic scheme for 5 lamps. It is shown in Figure 1 (A), while the chandelier can be replaced with a ceiling lamp.

For kitchens

This type of room is rightfully considered the brightest, it is problematic to cook food in the twilight, in particular, to cut vegetables. Therefore, proper lighting of the kitchen must be given Special attention. This is greatly facilitated by the division of the room into zones, in one there is cooking, in the other there is a dining table, etc. In such cases, the fixtures are installed in accordance with the interior, the layout of the room and the level of natural light.

Of the typical options in Figure 1, schemes "I" and "K" are best suited for such purposes.

Option "K" is more suitable for spacious rooms.

It is not at all necessary to use the above schemes, other solutions can be found, the main thing is that there is enough light in the working area.

It is equally important that lights are also directed at the dining table, as shown in the example below.

It is not necessary to use a hanging chandelier, when correct location spots can be dispensed with without it.

Below is another version of the "chandelierless" scheme for a kitchen with a ceiling sheet.

For the hall

This is the most large room in the house, and since it is considered the main room, it must correspond to this status. For large areas, the classic scheme with the main lamp in the form of a pendant chandelier and additional illumination of the zones may not be effective. In such cases, it is better to use a uniform arrangement of fixtures on a stretch ceiling.

Alternatively, you can consider schemes with an uneven arrangement of fixtures on the ceiling. In such cases, spots may be concentrated in various parts rooms, creating zoning.

This method of accommodation is great for studio apartments, which, in fact, consist of one large room. With the correct arrangement of spots, a large room is easily divided into several zones.

A good option would be to install several lamps on the ceiling in an oval, while the figure can be divided into several segments, which are switched on separately.

Looks good solutions with multi-level suspended ceilings on which spots are installed.

When choosing a scheme, it is imperative to take into account the interior design, since serious repairs will be required to choose a different solution.

For the bedroom

In fact, this room is a continuous recreation area, therefore, it is necessary to adhere to moderate lighting in it.

If there is not enough light, you can always install additional sources in the form of a sconce or floor lamp.

If we consider classic schemes(see Fig. 1), we recommend paying attention to two options "E" (8 lamps) and "H" (12 lamps). Also looks good is a small pendant chandelier edging several figures from the LED strip.

You can choose an option with an imitation of the starry sky, an implementation example is presented below.

Please note that the interior can also affect lighting. The light reflected from the drapery acquires its shade. This is clearly seen in Figure 24, where ordinary "warm" white light lamps are used to illuminate the room. The interior adds red undertones.

There are no restrictions for fantasies, you can create something fabulous and unusual.

For living rooms

This type of room differs from the hall in a smaller area, so it is better to use schemes with a central powerful source (chandelier) in the middle of the room with additional spots. The latter can be located around the perimeter or highlight the corners of the room. If we consider the classical options (see Fig. 1), then we can choose schemes: A, C, D, F, G, J and L. Each of them fully satisfies the conditions of the problem.

In this case, the perimeter does not have to be correct form, the absence of right angles creates a completely different mood.

Above the seating area, you can not install the backlight, it will be successfully replaced by a sconce.

In the living room, as in the hall, you can generally refuse hanging chandeliers if you use several powerful outdoor fixtures.

LED Strip Light in a multi-level plasterboard ceiling, it will cope with the lighting of the living room no worse than a chandelier.

Light scheme using built-in lights and LED strip

If the living room is small, it is enough just to install spots around the perimeter.

For children's room

As a rule, such rooms are zoned into a place for sleeping, studying and playground. Accordingly, a group should be installed on the stretch ceiling above the table additional lamps, and place a sconce near the beds.

As an option, for desk a table lamp can be installed.

Since the nursery is often a playground, a chandelier in the room is not desirable. Playing too much, children can damage it. Uniform placement of powerful spots allows you to do without a bulky chandelier.

Proper lighting will help create a bright, fabulous atmosphere in the nursery.

for bathroom

Because in typical panel houses If this room is not large, then you can opt for option "B" with 6 lamps (see Fig. 1). For such a situation, it is not even necessary to implement the scheme in full, it is enough to choose one of two types of lamps for the ceiling. If necessary, sconces or rotary lamps can be installed near the mirrors.

If the bathroom larger area, then the scope for imagination expands significantly. Can be used classic version with evenly spaced spots.

Light can emphasize zoning.

Use a trick to give the light the desired shade.
