Do-it-yourself garden washbasin How to make a street sink in the country with your own hands

For summer residents, the issue of hygiene procedures is always relevant, since earthworks require a washbasin. This or that design is installed depending on the availability of water supply and electricity. Consider how to solve the problem with the washbasin, based on various conditions, and what options for washbasins can be used in the country.

Peculiarities

The choice of a device for washing depends on the method of water supply: tap water or a manually filled container. Modern summer cottages are equipped with a centralized water supply, but most summer cottages use water from a well, imported or from an artesian well. This determines the division of washbasins into two types of devices.

The standard faucet device is powered by water pipes. In the country, it is convenient to equip such a washbasin next to the garden or in the yard so that the earth does not clog drain sewer. The water supply is centralized, the owners of the site can only make a layer for the washbasin, a sink and a faucet can be bought at the store. The stand under the sink is purchased ready-made or mounted independently to the desired height and placed in a convenient place.

The disadvantage of this type of washbasin is the limitation of use during the warm season, since with the onset of the first frost, the pipes may burst.

In order to avoid failure of the water supply before the onset of cold weather, the water supply is shut off and the remaining water is drained from the pipes. in a good way extending the life of the washbasin is the insulation of the external water supply with glass wool. This type of insulation will allow for a couple of months a year to extend the operating period, but in late autumn, a complete shutdown of the water supply will still be required. The construction industry offers specialized water pipes with insulation and an electric heating element inside the outer contour of the insulation for winter use in the country, which protects the water pipe from freezing throughout its entire length at low temperatures.

The presence of electricity will allow the use of heating elements inside the washbasin. Hot water supply in the country is a luxury; in any weather, you often have to wash your face with cold water. Today, there is a wide range of washbasins with elements for heating water to make your stay in the country comfortable. Such designs will require good electrical insulation and a float device. The container can be single-chamber, then the heating should not exceed 40 degrees. In devices with two chambers for cold and hot water, a mixer tap is used.

Traditional bulk washstands are the simplest circuit, which uses the pressure of a mass of water: the container is filled with water, a hole is made in the lower part with a valve in the form of a rod, or a tap is installed. Various industrial models of this type are commercially available.

Country craftsmen show miracles of ingenuity, using improvised materials to design washstands from plastic bottles or tanks. Place country washbasins in a sunny place for natural water heating.

Regardless of the water supply scheme, the presence or absence of heating, all washstands should be easy to use.

First of all, you need to organize a drain. In the simplest models, mounted on a rack, this can be a specially equipped drain groove, the walls of which are concreted or pipes similar to the gutter of a roof drain are used. To drain, you need to provide a slope and sufficiently high sides to protect against splashes. It is more convenient to use a pedestal with a sink and a drain, which is discharged into an underground reservoir or drained under a slope to a designated place on the site.

Let's try to analyze in more detail the models of country washbasins that are diverse in terms of constructive schemes and design.

Main types

Country washstands can be classified into hinged, frame and pedestal, with or without heating. The only outdoor model in the recent past is a metal or plastic hanging tank with a valve at the bottom. Such washbasins are mounted on a pole or wall of the house or on a frame, and an ordinary bucket is used under the drain. They require completely manual maintenance and on winter time removed into the room.

For all its simplicity, this is a very popular model that is in constant demand. This is the most a budget option and also available in a wide range of colors.

The disadvantage is the small volume of the tank and the need to frequently add water. Advanced models have a tank larger capacity- from 10 liters or more. Equipped with a tap to regulate the water pressure.

The large weight of the filled tank requires a frame stand and good fastenings to the support. The stand is equipped with a sink and a place for a container for used liquid.

A stationary washbasin for a summer residence is installed on a flat area. The legs of the frame can be sunk into the ground. To maintain a level position, the legs are reinforced with a support made of solid material or legs are used in the form of an inverted letter "P". Drainage in dense soils is organized in drain hole or into a drainage ditch.

Sandy soils do not require special drainage, you can let the water soak into the ground. In this case, the soil under the washbasin is covered with a layer of small pebbles or expanded clay to avoid the formation of puddles.

The next most difficult water supply is the construction of a garden washbasin attached to an outdoor shower tank. In this case, two problems are solved at once: natural heating of water and the presence of a large volume of liquid. Water supply pipes are mounted to the washstand tank, a float system is installed or a manual adjustment filling with an additional tap at the pipe inlet.

The same option is convenient to use if there is an electric water heater in the shower. These models are justified if the location of the washbasin next to the shower is convenient for the owners of the cottage.

On large plots or at a considerable distance from the garden outbuildings, you should choose a model with autonomous water heating. There are options for self-connecting a heating element to a conventional design without heating water or purchasing a ready-made tank with a built-in heating element.

High-quality and modern models are offered by many Russian manufacturers at affordable prices. Self connection requires knowledge of the intricacies of working with electricity.

for water heating heating element tanks made of plastic and metal are used. When choosing a heating element for self-installation, you need to calculate required power heating. A too weak element for a large water tank will make the heating time very long, a strong element will make the water scalding hot.

A good choice would be to purchase a heating element with a thermostat or select a model with two containers for cold and hot water. Particular attention is paid to electrical insulation for safe use.

Outdoor washbasins differ in the method of fastening: on the frame and on the pedestal. The frame can be made independently from wood or metal, as well as purchased ready-made. It is selected according to a convenient height, and the length support legs depends on the mass of the water tank, and the greater the weight of the tank, the deeper the supports are embedded in the ground. Massive structures will require concrete legs to maintain stability.

Another common option is to mount the washbasin on the pedestal of the Moydodyr type. Here the frame is sheathed with moisture-resistant material and has a neat appearance.

The washbasin with a cabinet is equipped with soap dishes, towel holders, a mirror. These devices create comfortable conditions for use.

Design can be customized to suit any taste. On sale there are models from various materials and with different content - from "all inclusive" to elementary devices.

Finally, the last type of country washbasin without a tank and without heating is directly from the water supply system. Pipes are brought to the sink on the cabinet or a decorative support made of wood, stone or metal is arranged. If conditions permit, then the water supply is connected to the electric or gas water heater installed in the house. Such a system should be located near a heat source.

It makes sense to install it in the yard or next to the sauna or summer kitchen. In the remote corners of the garden enjoy running water or install tanks with heating elements.

materials

Wash basins are made from traditional materials: plastic, metal, wood. Lightweight and practical plastic is used for simple attachments with valves or taps and for heated models. Modern plastic is durable material which is not exposed to corrosion, is convenient in operation, is easily kept clean. Tanks made of galvanized steel or metal are more durable, they will last for many years, provided there is no rust.

Stainless steel tanks have great advantages. Stainless steel is almost resistant to corrosion, has a long service life, good decorative qualities, but the cost of such products is high, which is not always justified for summer cottages.

The frame is mainly made of metal or wooden beams. Cabinet models are sheathed with plastic panels or sheets of fiberboard, MDF or natural lumber. Chipboards can only serve indoors, as under the influence of moisture their service is reduced to one or two seasons.

Finishing from plastic panels has a diverse color scheme, can also imitate a coating from any natural materials. They are easy to clean and are inexpensive.

Finishing with natural wood always looks noble, but moisture destroys the wood and gives it dark shade which over time will look unaesthetic. The wooden parts of the cabinet should be regularly treated with antiseptic preparations or coated with oil-based paint.

Garden washbasins, made in a traditional rural style, fit well into country life. A win-win option is stainless steel cabinetry. This design provides a long service life and excellent appearance, which is only supported wet cleaning with any detergent.

The material for the manufacture of sinks and taps can also be selected according to your preferences and conditions of use. Choosing country washbasin it is necessary to consider at what time of the year it will be used and how often. If you only wash your hands before eating or returning to the city, then they pick up plastic models. For permanent residence in the country in the warm season, a more durable material is selected - a metal sink or tank. Faience or ceramics in the country - not the best suitable choice due to the high brittleness of these materials.

Dimensions

The size of the water tank depends on the number of users. For a family of four and trips to the country on weekends, a tank of 10-20 liters is enough. The larger size (30 liters or more) is intended for permanent residence of a family outside the city. If you have to go far for water and you rarely go to the country, then you can opt for simple mounted models of no more than 5 liters in volume. Calculate right amount water and tank size is needed for heated models, so as not to waste excess electricity on an unused balance.

The cabinet for the washbasin has dimensions, where 5-7 centimeters are added to the size of the sink for the countertop. Standard cabinets are 60 centimeters wide and 60 centimeters long, 75 centimeters high for the sink and 1.5 meters for the supporting wall.

Style and design

Ready-made models of washbasins have varied design. For high-tech lovers, it is appropriate to choose a washbasin made entirely of stainless steel. Provence-style dacha decoration will be supported by plastic models pastel colors. The cabinets are considered classics, paneled in natural wood with a cistern located behind the counter panel and with a large mirror. The ornament of flowers in the decoration of the outdoor washbasin will harmoniously match the garden vegetation.

A simple country washbasin can turn into a work of art if it standard design decorate with plants or give it an unusual shape. Kisses summer kitchen outdoors can be made from a frame sheathed with slats. You need to make the countertop a convenient length so that you can cook on it, transplant flowers or preserve vegetables. Equip the supporting wall and cabinet with shelves for storage and hooks for utensils and hygiene items.

Lightweight and inexpensive construction natural wood organically fit into the landscape and become a convenient kitchen island in the garden.

original solution the decoration of the cistern for washing and the sink with a drain into barrels will become, thereby emphasizing the rural style of your estate. Such a design is not difficult to implement if old barrels remain on the farm. They need to be sanded, washed with a suitable stain so that the supporting wall and the barrels become the same color, and coated with wax or oil. A shell is inserted into the upper part of the barrel, the tank is decorated with half of another barrel.

Modern minimalist styles welcome simple rectangular shapes without decorative elements. Get a simple plain white or gray plastic vanity kit and place it where you want it. Place flowerpots with flowers nearby, place a hinged washbasin above the cabinet with flowers. You will wash yourself, and the flower bed at this time will be irrigated.

A heated outdoor washstand will require the construction of a canopy to maintain safe operating conditions. Even if the washbasin is not heated, in rainy weather it will be more comfortable to have a roof over your head for hygiene procedures. The simplest canopy can be attached to the frame and have the form of a single-pitched or gable roof. The roof can be made of profiled sheet, wooden slats or polycarbonate. The use of polycarbonate allows you to build arched structure from metal arcs.

Famous manufacturers and reviews

Well-known Russian manufacturers offer a wide range of ready-made country washbasins that meet the diverse needs of consumers and have a wide price range. The most popular heated models are washbasins "Elbet"- inexpensive devices with a powerful water heating element, temperature sensors and a large water tank. According to summer residents, they have good performance.

Not inferior to them as washbasins "Spring". They are made of stainless steel, which significantly increases their service life. Both models with heating and without are produced, the tank has a volume of 16 liters or more.

"Sadko"- This is a compact model with a polypropylene body, the water tank holds more than 18 liters. Consumers note the ease of assembly and installation, convenient and durable fastening of structural parts.

Good washbasins are offered by companies such as "Cascade", "Summer Resident", "Clean", "Double", "Leader", "Waterfall", Obi. Production of the company Aquatex gained popularity due to good quality and budget prices. Washbasins have a variety of designs, a tank capacity of over 20 liters and heating. When choosing a model, you need to pay attention to the method of heating. "Dry" heating is provided by a steatite pipe with a heating element inserted into it. This method allows you to quickly and without the formation of scale to heat water, they do not break when connected without water. "Wet" heating is similar to the work of a boiler, it is less safe and more prone to breakage, which makes the price of such washbasins somewhat lower.

How to choose and install with your own hands?

When choosing a model in a store, you need to be guided by the following arguments:

  • season of use, heating required or not;
  • street or home operation mode affects the choice of material of manufacture;
  • tank size based on the number of users;
  • case design.

Having determined these criteria, it is enough just to pick up and install a washbasin in the country with your own hands. The main task is secure fastening water tank on a support. If this is a finished model with a case, you need to follow the instructions exactly and firmly fix the tank on the panel, this will ensure safe use.

Self-placement will help to carry out a set of terminals and fasteners, which are included in the sale. The frame is purchased from ready-made or made from improvised material. The metal legs of the frame are recessed into the ground in proportion to the weight of the filled water tank - the heavier, the deeper. The height of the frame is calculated based on the proportionality of a person’s height, but so that the tank hangs at least 1 meter from the ground.

For greater stability, a frame is made in the form of a pedestal. It is made as follows: corners are prepared from steel 25x25, or wooden beam section 50x50. Measure the dimensions of the sink and calculate the dimensions of the frame. Parts are cut to the required length from a metal profile or beam and screwed or welded manual welding. If you want to make a closed structure, the frame is sheathed with wooden slats, chipboard or MDF panels or plastic and a sink is installed.

Plastic sheathing of the frame is a more practical option for outdoor use. The curbstone can be covered with moisture resistant paint. It is worth noting that the paint on the outdoor washbasin will have to be updated annually. Chipboard and MDF panels are suitable only for the home. To extend the life of the frame, it is necessary to isolate the legs from soil moisture. To do this, the metal is painted with an anti-corrosion compound, and the wooden parts of the structure are treated with anti-rotting agents. Drainage of water is organized either autonomously - into a bucket under the sink, or stationary - into a drain pit. For a stationary drain, a sewer is installed drain pipe at the back of the cabinet.

The rear wall is built up with a vertical frame, on which a water tank, a mirror and towel hooks will be mounted. The side walls of the cabinet are sewn up with panels, the back wall can also be sewn up with a panel, and when installed against a wall, it is left open. A door is hung on hinges on the front wall of the cabinet or left open; if desired, this place can be decorated with a curtain. An outdoor washbasin is best placed on a hard paved area.

It is not difficult to make a heating system on your own, you need to purchase a heating element of the required power. It should correspond to the size of the water tank. It is better to opt for models with a thermostat. Attach the heating element to the side wall of the tank at the bottom of the tank. The top location will make heating less efficient, the heating element will often burn out from a decrease in water level. The installation of the heating element is associated with the need for careful insulation of the terminals and wires.

For long-term operation of a country washbasin, certain rules must be observed. Before the start of the winter season, be sure to drain the water from all containers and pipes. If, nevertheless, the pipe froze during early frosts, then the damaged section is repaired: couplings are installed on the breaks or a piece of pipe is replaced. It is easier to perform this operation with polypropylene pipes. Heating elements in case of failure are replaced with new ones. To do this, you need to purchase a model with a similar design and power.

Heated wash basins are best used indoors. Outdoor heated tank must be placed under a canopy. For the winter, a washbasin with a heating element must be removed to a barn or house. All metal parts must be dried well and wrap the washbasin with dry plastic wrap to winter storage. For the winter, it is advisable to remove the plastic tanks of bulk washbasins from the support and put them into the room, since ultraviolet and temperature changes destroy the plastic, and the ingress of moisture into the tank during freezing contributes to the deformation of its shape.

Metal and wooden stationary outdoor washbasins are dried and wrapped with a film, tied with a rope and left for the winter in the open air.

Successful examples and options

The placement of the washbasin in the country depends on the needs of the household. A simple design is installed in the garden, where a hinged tank is mounted on a frame. Curly annuals can be planted around the legs of the frame to decorate the supports. In the yard it is more convenient to use a cabinet with a sink. The advantages of a corner location are to create a hygiene zone hidden from prying eyes. If it is decorated with plants or paintings, this area will acquire a special charm. Advanced summer residents of cabinets with computers for adjusting the heater are placed in the country kitchen, bath or shower.

It is very convenient to purchase a washbasin model with a pump for pumping water using a foot pedal, where the tank is connected by a special hose to a common water tank intended for household needs. The pump allows you to contactlessly fill the wash tank with water, which will be a great advantage when working with the ground and for hygiene purposes.

Country craftsmen with imagination and imagination equip a corner for washing, creating stylish compositions from wood, stone and metal.

In the next video you will see how to make a do-it-yourself washstand for giving.

Not everyone has a running water in the country, but the need for water arises quite often: it is necessary to rinse your hands repeatedly after gardening, then wash vegetables or fruits, or dishes after eating. All this can be done with a washbasin. It comes in handy not only inside the country house, where there is no plumbing, but also on the street, in the garden or next to the gazebo where it stands dinner table. A portable washbasin is good because it can be installed anywhere. There are several types of washbasins that differ structurally: from the simplest to the most convenient units with cabinets and heating. The latter are so convenient that they can partially replace a full-fledged plumbing. More recently, to make a washbasin for a summer residence with a sink, you had to make many elements yourself. Now the modern market can offer various ready-made options. Nevertheless, let's remember how you can make a washbasin with your own hands. After all, a hand-made thing is not only unique, but it can also have many elements or functions that you need, but they are not provided for in ready-made models.

Types of washbasins for giving

The main difference between all washbasins is functionality. To make the right choice, you need to understand exactly what you want to see and how you are going to use it. Do you need a simple wall-hung washbasin or do you need a unit with a cabinet or even hot water.

Simple hanging washbasins for summer cottages

The simplest washbasin is a slightly barrel-shaped container with a pressure spout. The volume of such washbasins does not exceed 3 - 5 liters. Thanks to special fasteners, this washbasin can be hung in any place where there is a suitable vertical surface. For example, on a fence, on a tree, on a board hammered into the ground, or on another convenient surface.

It is necessary to pour water into a simple washbasin manually. But the drain can be organized in different ways. Much depends on where the washbasin hangs. For example, you can substitute a container under the washbasin in which drains will be collected, and then, as the bucket fills, take out its contents into compost pit. If the washbasin is used quite rarely, you can substitute nothing at all - let the water pour on the ground. And to make it easier for water to seep, you can pour a layer of crushed stone or fine gravel under the washbasin.

Such simple washbasins are still popular, as they allow you to quickly and easily wash your hands after dirty work in the garden or in the garage. But because of the small volume, it is difficult to use it for washing dishes after a family dinner.

Larger wall-mounted washbasins from 10 to 18 liters are more convenient due to the fact that you need to pour water into them less often. The shape of such washbasins is different: rectangular, oval, slightly rounded. The material of manufacture is either plastic or stainless steel. As a rule, washbasins with a volume of more than 10 liters are equipped with a valve valve, which is located on the front wall. Such taps are very convenient: unscrew the valve and use water, twist it - the water stops flowing. In models with a pressure spout, it is necessary to constantly press it, which is sometimes inconvenient or difficult.

Large wall-hung washbasins can be fixed to a vertical surface, such as a wall, or hung on a cabinet. They are used both indoors and outdoors.

A rather unusual version of outdoor washbasins is a stand-mounted unit. The water tank is attached to the top metal rack. You can install such a washbasin anywhere, including where there is no vertical support. At the bottom of the rack there is a crossbar, after pressing with the foot on which the horns - supports are firmly driven into the ground. Thus, the washbasin on the counter is fixed quite steadily in any part of the garden or vegetable garden.

It can be used to wash hands or face during work, it is enough to unscrew the valve valve - and the water will flow by gravity. The capacity of washbasins on the rack is usually from 8 to 15 liters.

You can make a similar rack under the washbasin yourself. Need steel pipes, Bulgarian and welding machine. For greater stability of the racks - there should be at least two supports and the distance between them should be 20 - 25 cm.

  • We measure the required length of the supports, cut off two pipes.
  • In order for the racks to easily enter the ground, the end of the pipes from which they are made must be cut at an angle. The sharp end of the rack easily pierces the ground.
  • We cut off the lower jumper and the upper bar to which the washbasin is attached.
  • We weld the jumper and the top bar to the supports.

Instead of pipes, you can use fittings or steel corners 25x25 mm.

Washbasin with cabinet for giving - "moydodyr"

Washbasin "moydodyr" is a design of cabinets, sinks and washbasin (tank). It is more functional, it can be installed both indoors and outdoors. Despite the fact that the washbasin with cabinet is heavier than simpler models, it can be dragged from place to place by two people. A bucket or other container for drains is installed in the cabinet under the sink.

Thanks to the presence of a sink in the washbasin with a cabinet, you can not only wash your hands and face, but also conveniently wash dishes or vegetables and fruits. For example, a bowl of freshly picked strawberries can be placed inside the sink. The valve tap on the washbasin tank allows you to thoroughly wash the berries under running water.

As you can see in the photo showing the washbasin for giving, similar models of washbasins can be equipped with a mirror, a towel hook and a soap holder. Can be stored inside cabinet detergents for dishes and washcloths.

If you are going to install a washbasin with a cabinet inside the house, then you can choose any model, including those with a wooden cabinet. On the street, wood, chipboard or plywood will quickly become unusable. For outdoor use, washbasins with a painted metal pedestal or a cabinet sheathed with polycarbonate are better suited.

The heated washbasin is a more advanced model of the washbasin with cabinet. In fact, they differ from each other only in that a heating element is installed in the water tank, which heats the water. The sink and cabinet are exactly the same.

In early spring and autumn, the water in the washbasin is practically not heated by the sun. And if water from a well is used, then it is just ice cold. The washbasin with heating allows you to feel full comfort. wash up warm water, wash dishes hot. All this is possible thanks to the thermostat. With it, you can set the required temperature from +30 to +70 ° C.

A container with a volume of 10 to 20 liters is usually made of durable plastic, similar to that used in electric kettles. Sometimes heated models have a stainless steel body. Ready-made heated washbasins, which can be bought in the store, have standard dimensions: the width and depth of the pedestal is 0.5 m, the height of the pedestal is 1.0 - 1.5 m.

Do-it-yourself washbasin for giving

Wash basins are not that expensive. For example, prices for a washbasin with cabinet and heating start at $85. So if you have an extra hundred dollars, then there is no point in bothering and designing a washbasin with your own hands. But if you really really want to do everything yourself, or a unique functional design has matured in your head, then below we give recommendations on how to make a washbasin for a summer residence with your own hands.

Water tank - which washbasin to choose

If you want to make a washbasin with a cabinet for giving, then it makes no sense to fool yourself and make a water tank yourself. It is unreliable, unaesthetic and not functional. For example, it is possible to make a tank from an old 5-10 liter water bottle, but why? The cost of a washbasin with a valve tap does not exceed 10 USD, but it looks much more beautiful.

Water container for a washbasin with a cabinet should be from 10 to 20 liters. Taking less is pointless.

Production material capacity also matters. Most often, washbasins are made of plastic and stainless steel. Which one to choose depends on personal preference, but there is an important nuance.

Important! A stainless steel washbasin for a summer residence is more preferable because it is more reliable and durable. If you accidentally fall plastic washbasin filled with water, the chance that it will burst, crack or split is much greater than if a stainless steel washbasin falls. We rarely think about such things, but when we face them with our own eyes, we regret that we spared the money.

Washbasin shape is also important. Usually, few people pay attention to this, but in vain. It's all about the pressure of water that will pour out of the faucet. If the container is flat, almost horizontal, then water will flow out of it in a small stream. The higher the water column in the washbasin tank, the greater the pressure. For example, among rectangular washbasins, it is better to give preference to the one that has an elongated shape. Better yet, take a washbasin whose bottom is not flat and has a slope towards the faucet.

Faucet location. AT recent times washbasins with a valve tap on the front wall are very popular. Have you noticed that the water pressure from such a faucet is less than from a small 3-5 l washbasin with a pressure tap? The thing is that in the valve tap, water pressure is lost due to the turns of the tap spout itself and due to the fact that it is located not at the bottom, but on the front wall. Choose a washbasin model in which the faucet is located as low as possible. Otherwise, you will encounter such a problem - you will have to add water to the washbasin even before it runs out, from about half the capacity. The reason is the loss of power.

How to organize heating in the washbasin

The cost of ready-made washbasins with heating starts from 20 USD. This is quite inexpensive, given that the heating device is equipped with a temperature controller from +30 to +70 °C. You can also make such a unit yourself. To do this, you need to buy a heating element with a thermostat and install it in a tank.

Important! Please note that the heating element is most effective if installed at the bottom of the tank, at a level of 2 - 5 cm from the bottom. Installing a heating element at the top does not make sense.

The complexity of self-installation of heating elements in the washbasin is this. The heating element cuts into the container body and the unit with the thermostat remains on the outer wall of the washbasin. It is quite difficult to seal the washbasin body after insertion. You can, of course, immerse the boiler into the container through the lid without making holes in the body, then there will be no problems with tightness.

Washbasin cabinet frame

When planning to make your own washbasin with a sink for a summer residence, the cabinet frame and the cabinet itself are the most obvious structural elements that it makes sense to do yourself.

The easiest way to make such a washbasin is if you have a sink for dishes left from Soviet times. The shape and size of the old kitchen sink fully suitable for the construction of a washbasin. Cabinet with opening door and bottom, place under the sink and the sink itself. To the finished sink body, you only need to attach a board on which you can fix the washbasin container.

If the old sink is not available, then the cabinet will have to be made independently. You can make the frame of the cabinet from wooden bars with a section of 50x50 or 80x80 mm, as well as from a steel corner 40x40 mm or 25x25 mm.

  • Convenient height of the cabinet under the sink from 85 cm to 1 m.
  • We take a steel corner or a wooden beam and cut 4 pieces 85 cm long.
  • We measure the sink, which we are going to install in the cabinet. The size of the frame should be such that the sink fits easily on the edges of the frame.
  • Then we cut 8 pieces to the size of the sink, usually 50 cm.
  • We weld or knock down the frame together.

Remember that the sink will fit on the inner edges of the frame, so be guided by them. After manufacturing, the steel frame must be primed and painted, as in frequent contact with dampness and water, it will quickly rust.

Cabinet and countertop for washbasin

You can sheathe the frame of the cabinet with different materials:

  • wooden boards;
  • plywood boards;
  • steel sheets;
  • Polycarbonate sheets.
  • plastic panels.

Wood and plywood will quickly get wet on the street. Although if the tree is varnished, then it can last a long time.

We completely sheathe the back and side walls of the cabinet, firmly fixing the material to the frame of the cabinet. On the front wall of the cabinet, you need to make a door, which is then hung on hinges.

It is desirable to make the floor inside the pedestal board with a distance between the boards of 1 - 1.5 cm so that air can circulate, and even accidentally spilled water seeps into the ground.

It is not necessary to be limited only to the cabinet under the sink, you can make a countertop and a convenient dish dryer:

  • On one side or on both sides of the cabinet, we make a countertop or dryer.
  • We take wooden boards with a section of 25x15 mm.
  • We knock them down in such a way that we get a dryer - a grate. Between the boards we make a distance of 1.5 - 2 cm.
  • The dryer can be made two-level, then at a height of 35 cm above the ground we make another frame for the dryer and fill the boards.

The dryer next to the washbasin is convenient because you can arrange freshly washed dishes in it. The cups can simply be turned upside down and left to dry. Plates and pot lids can be tucked into the gaps between the boards and fixed vertically to drain excess water. And pots and pans simply arrange upside down on the dryer.

It is not necessary to connect the frame of the dryer to the cabinet of the washbasin. Be sure to varnish the wooden dryer.

Sink and washbasin drain

The sink for an outdoor washbasin can be plastic, enameled or stainless steel. The last two are the most durable and practical. You can buy a new sink or a used one and carefully install it in the cabinet frame.

Drainage of water from the washbasin can be organized in different ways:

  • Substitute a bucket, which is emptied as it fills.
  • Make a drain into the sewer or divert into a ditch.
  • Drain water directly into the ground, after pouring a 25 - 35 cm layer of crushed stone under the pedestal.

The bucket option is the best. The fact is that in the washbasin we not only wash our hands and face, vegetables and fruits are often washed here, tails come off along the way and are thrown straight into the sink, and when washing dishes, food remains are also washed into the sink. Eventually wastewater obtained with organic residues. A bucket of such slop is best taken to a compost pit or heap, where the remains will rot.

It is possible to equip the drain of water into the sewer, but then it will not be possible to dump cleaning and food residues into the sink, as they can clog the pipe. Plain corrugated sewage pipe connects to a sink drain and drains underground to a septic tank or gutter. Some simply dig a pipe at a depth of 25 - 35 cm at a distance of 1 - 2 m from the washbasin, and the water simply soaks into the soil.

If desired, an ordinary washbasin for giving can be turned into a real masterpiece, especially if you use wood for decoration. But remember that it is better to clean wooden products for the winter in a dry shed or garage. This also applies to washbasins with heating.

In this article, we will tell you how to make a washbasin for a summer residence with your own hands, consider various options, and also show photo and video instructions for creating an outdoor washbasin.

The washbasin must be:

  • simple;
  • multifunctional (so that you can not only wash your hands);
  • convenient.

If your country house does not yet have a washbasin, then please read this article carefully. In fact, there are more than enough ways to make a homemade washstand.

From a plastic bottle

The simplest, budget option. It can be a 1.5 liter bottle or a 5 liter eggplant. First you need to cut the bottom. Then, using a clamp or aluminum wire, fix it on some vertical plane. The role of the dispenser in this case will be played by the lid itself. We draw some water into the container, and it will flow in a thin stream when we slightly open the lid. It turned out to be the simplest - and nowhere simpler - a hinged washbasin. That's all the wisdom of this washstand.

with faucet

This stationary structure is more complex, so for its manufacture you will need to have at least basic knowledge in plumbing. It will be good if in your household by chance there will be a small 6-liter plastic (soft plastic) can with a wide neck or any other suitable container. This time we will have to spend money on the purchase of accessories for the future washbasin. You will need:

  • drive;
  • tap for water supply;
  • two rubber gaskets;
  • two nuts;
  • two pucks.

The work does not require professional skills. It's simple: a hole is drilled in the bottom of the can for the diameter of the run (the lower the better). We insert the drive itself into the hole with the side where there are more threads, we put the washers on both sides, and then the gaskets and clamp them with nuts on both sides too. After that, we wind the faucet, after winding the linen winding, smeared with a special impregnation, and that’s it, the washbasin is ready.

It remains only to choose a suitable cabinet for it or a rack pre-bonded from four wooden bars. Having fixed the can on such a structure, we fill it with water. And now you have a more civilized option for a larger amount of liquid in the country washbasin and, moreover, with a faucet for water supply.

In that simple version a washstand can be dispensed with without a drive. For example, take a 10-liter galvanized bucket. We will need:

  • two rubber gaskets;
  • screw;
  • tap brass water folding tsapkovy;
  • drill attachment.

The work is simple: in the lower part of the bucket, using a nozzle, we drill a diameter for a brass faucet. We put a gasket on it and insert it into the finished hole. On the other hand, we also insert the gasket and clamp it with a nut. The top of the washbasin is ready.

It would be useful to say that the outdoor washbasin must be equipped with a drain. This can be an ordinary container where used water is collected or a finished sink, with a corrugated tube inserted into the drain (from three meters). With the help of such a tube, water can simply be drained into the garden and soaked into the ground. Some people do not equip drains at all, and water flows directly to the ground. And so that dirty slurry does not form under your feet, (two buckets are enough). As they say, cheap and cheerful.

For premises

If we are talking about homemade washstands on the street, then it is definitely worth mentioning the washstands in the room. The internal washstand is much more complex in design than its outdoor counterparts. It is clear that here you need to take care not only of its functionality, but also of beauty. In other words, it should harmoniously fit into the general surroundings of a country simple life. Most likely, this will be the most common type of internal washbasins - “moidodyr”. How to make this washstand out of wood? We will need boards 25 × 150 mm.

In vertical blanks, recesses must be cut in advance (depth 20 mm, width 8 mm). This can be done with manual router. In horizontal blanks, spikes are cut accordingly using a conventional hacksaw.

The hacksaw should be sharp enough and with fine teeth. Canvas length: 25–30 cm.

The size of the future washbasin is largely determined by the dimensions of the water tank that we plan to use for it. It is also important for us to know for sure the dimensions of the sink, which we will mount on the cabinet. After everything is cut to size and technological recesses are cut along with spikes, the washbasin is assembled like a designer. However, it would be better to fix the joints with wood screws.

The upper (or side) part of the structure has a niche where we should insert the finished water tank.

For such a washbasin, a 20-liter galvanized tank is better suited (width: 490 mm, height: 360 mm, thickness: 140 mm)

We strengthen the bottom of the washstand with slats (20 × 45 mm) at the same distance from each other. We close the back wall of the upper part of the "moidodyr" with plywood - from 3 mm and fix it with self-tapping screws. Of course, it is better to use moisture-resistant plywood for such a thing in case the water tank leaks, but if there is none, it’s not scary.

As for the cabinet door, everything is simple here: we glue a square of 3 mm plywood with PVA glue to the frame of four interconnected small wooden planks on its back side. It remains to embed a lock with a figured handle. All, wooden frame"moydodyra" is assembled. Now finishing touch- this is grinding, painting the product, and then installing the sink. It will turn out very cute.

There are a lot of options for washbasins and they are all good in their own right. The question is which design you prefer. Much, of course, depends on the functions that you assign to it. One way or another, a washstand / washbasin is convenient in every way. And if it's in the country, even more so. Therefore, we hope that this article was useful for you.

For convenience and comfort in country estates, you can create a washbasin for a summer residence with your own hands. An inexpensive and effortless device can make life so much more enjoyable. Even if in country house there is a full-fledged water supply system, an outdoor washstand on the site allows you to quickly rinse your hands after working with soil, fertilizers, weeds.

Types of washbasins

It may seem that a do-it-yourself washstand for giving with your own hands can only be made of the simplest design. In fact, even a novice master is able, with the help of the most simple tools create a comfortable and very beautiful washbasin. The degree of comfort is determined by the design of the structure.

At your own choice, you can give preference to one of the most common models:

  • hinged (with a clamping spout or crane),
  • on a stand that can be easily carried and installed anywhere on the site, even where there is no suitable support,
  • "moydodyr" - a design with a pedestal in which a container for collecting waste water is located,
  • heated products.

If you need to pick up or without it, then our review article will help you with this.

And the characteristics that the popular and inexpensive have are presented in other material on the site.

We also have instructions on how to make . Selection of materials and sequence of work.

Washbasin from a plastic bottle

If you are thinking about how to make a washbasin in the country with your own hands easily, quickly and simply, the design of a plastic bottle will become optimal solution. You can create such a design in a few minutes with virtually no cost. Such a washstand will serve perfectly until you build a more perfect structure, and maybe it will be in demand in the future.

The general principle of creating such washstands is the same - a plastic bottle is suspended and fixed vertically with the neck down. Such a bottle can be filled through the neck, but for this the bottle will have to be removed from the support. If a rigid fixation is provided, the bottom can be cut off at the container. In this case, it is better to provide the washbasin with a top cover (for example, made from a cut-off bottom) to prevent dust and debris from entering the water.

Variations usually relate to the water supply device.

  • The simplest outdoor washbasin for a summer residence is a plastic bottle, in the lid of which a hole is made, and an ordinary nail with a blunt point is placed in it. The cap of the nail is inside the bottle, and the diameter of the hole is greater than the diameter of the nail, but less than the diameter of its head. Thus, in a free position, the nail head is pressed against the hole, blocking the exit of water. If necessary, wash your hands, just lift it up by pressing on the free end of the nail from the bottom up. The advantage of the design is its simplicity, however, there are significant drawbacks. For example, a nail that is constantly in water quickly rusts. In addition, using such a pressure device is not always convenient. The model may well work as an outdoor washstand for giving, but it is difficult to wash dishes with it because of the inconvenience of the drain part and because of the small capacity.

  • A street-mounted washstand from a plastic bottle can be used as a drain device the usual "native" cover with a hole in the side. When such a cap is fully screwed, the opening is blocked by the neck of the bottle. Partially opening the lid, you release the hole, the water begins to flow from the washbasin. The inconvenience of using this design lies in the difficulty of regulating the intensity of the water supply. The advantage, like the previous version, is the simplicity of the device.
  • A more comfortable outdoor washstand for giving your own hands from a plastic bottle can be made, having provided the neck of the container with a small faucet. It can be purchased or removed from faulty equipment (washing machine, etc.). It is not difficult to fix the tap on the neck with electrical tape.

Mounted models from canisters

If a do-it-yourself summer washstand built from bottles in the country does not meet the needs of the family even with temporary use, you can install a larger model from a plastic or metal canister, or even a bucket. To do this, cut or knock out a hole in the container into which the tap is installed.

If necessary, for better tightness, first a squeegee is installed in the hole knocked out in the canister, supplying it with rubber gaskets on both sides. The position of the sway is fixed with nuts from the outer and inside cans. A crane is installed on the slope.

At installation, it is important to ensure the tightness of the joints. If you choose a model from a canister, it should be borne in mind that the volume of the drain will be larger, which means that you should think about diverting drains.

The following options are possible:

  • a container for collecting liquid, installed under the washbasin,
  • drainage ditch,
  • drainage channel to etc.

If the site has permeable soil, into which water easily drains, you can allow the liquid to soak into the soil. In this case, it is recommended to fill the space under the washbasin with gravel, crushed stone or expanded clay for better drainage.

Rack Models

Washbasins on racks are containers with taps fixed on a frame. The frame has "legs" at the bottom that go into the ground. Thus, the washstand on the rack moves freely and is installed in any part of the infield. For ease of installation, a transverse crossbar is made above the support legs - this is a kind of “pedal”. You can quickly and reliably install the structure by pressing the crossbar with your foot.

The frame structure of the washbasin on the rack must be reliably protected from moisture, especially its supporting parts, which are immersed in the ground.

A tank with a tap can be purchased or made independently. Please note: the depth of immersion of the legs for reliable stability increases in proportion to the mass of the structure. This is important factor when choosing the material of the tank and its volume.

Washbasin with cabinet

A more solid and convenient do-it-yourself country washbasin can be made with a pedestal and its own support for a bulk tank. Such a model can be installed outdoors, on a covered veranda and in the house. To create it, you will need materials, however, for reasons of economy, you can not purchase them specifically, but use improvised or leftovers from construction and installation work in another direction.

The main elements of such a washstand, called "moidodyr", are a sink (in this capacity, you can even use an old sink dismantled during repairs) and a filling tank, which can be purchased ready-made or made by hand. In the second case, certain skills will be required. If a washstand is provided for giving without heating, the tank may be plastic. If you want to provide maximum comfort and provide "moidodyr" with a heating element, it is advisable to choose a container made of metal.

A washbasin with a cabinet is a frame structure sheathed with sheet or panel material. It can be used as:

  • plywood,
  • plastic,
  • polycarbonate,
  • polymer panels,
  • sheet steel, etc.

The photo shows another version of the cabinet, in the manufacture of which wooden boards were used.

For the frame of the washbasin with cabinet are used wooden bars with a square in cross section (the side of the square is 50-80 mm) or a corner made of steel 25x25 or 40x40 mm.

Work is performed in the following order:

  1. Measurement of the sink and calculation of the dimensions of the cabinet.
  2. cutting frame material(bar or corner) according to the given dimensions (8 identical segments to form the upper and lower horizontal squares).
  3. Cutting off vertical racks (4 bars).
  4. Assembly (knocking down, welding, etc.) of the frame.

Important: When installing the washbasin outdoors, materials that are not resistant to moisture are recommended to be painted or varnished.

Drainage of water is organized in the most convenient way.

  • The easiest way is to substitute a bucket to collect wastewater.
  • For stationary structures, you can arrange a drain into a sewer or ditch.
  • With good soil permeability, water can be drained into the soil by first filling the drain site with drainage material (crushed stone, gravel, etc.) to a height of 25-35 cm.

When sheathing the frame on all walls of the pedestal, except for the front, sheets or panels are fixed rigidly. Two or one (depending on the dimensions of the product) doors are arranged in the front part. A tank or bucket is placed in the cabinet under the sink, where water will drain.

A frame vertical superstructure should be installed above the sink, on which it will be fixed.

Such a washbasin can be additionally equipped with a countertop and a dish dryer made of slats.

Heated washbasin

A washbasin, in which there will be not only cold, but also hot water, is a real luxury for a summer residence. Such structures, as a rule, are installed permanently, since they require connection to the mains. By design, such a metal washstand for giving can be a “moidodyr” or a model on a stand.

To heat the liquid in the tank, you can use a conventional boiler, but experienced craftsmen recommend purchase a special heating element with a thermostat. Please note that the power of the heating element must be selected in accordance with the volume of the tank. With insufficient power, you will have to wait a long time until the water heats up, and with too much power, it is likely that the water will overheat. In addition, you should choose optimal design and heating mode. If there is only one tank and it is not divided into chambers, the water will need to be heated to a temperature of about 40 ° C, with a divided tank (one section for cold, and the other, with a heating element, for hot water), the heating temperature should be higher. The tank in this case is equipped not with an ordinary tap, but with a mixer.

When making your own electric washstand for a heated summer house, to ensure safety, it is important to take care of the insulation of the current-carrying wire, as well as to provide the structure with a float level indicator or its more complex analogue, and also, in the absence of a thermostat, a thermometer to control water heating.
