Doors for toilet and bathroom - selection, reviews, characteristics. Doors for bathroom and toilet - Beautiful options for better design (90 photos) Covering doors for the bathroom

Traditionally, it is customary to install the same doors throughout the apartment. From a design point of view, this is, of course, good, but how they will work depending on the operating conditions in different rooms is another question. Take, for example, a bathroom where the air is simply saturated with moisture vapor. How do you think the MDF doors will behave in these rooms? In a couple of years, they will turn into a wretched sight. In this article, together with the site, we will study the characteristics of all existing types of doors and, by comparing them specifications, we will issue a verdict on the suitability of their operation in rooms with high humidity.

How to choose interior doors to the bathroom

Bathroom doors: MDF products

No matter how the manufacturers of interroom MDF doors in the excellent quality of their products, no matter how they guarantee the invariability of their forms during operation, paper still remains paper, and one cannot expect much from it. Probably, many people have already burned themselves on this type of doors - as a rule, after a few days of their operation, the door frame swells, the gap disappears between it and the canvas, and the doors simply stop functioning normally. This happens because the frame of such doors does not have a laminated protection on the back side, through which moisture penetrates, despite foam or other similar obstacles.

Now let's consider other, no less important characteristics that MDF doors have. Have you ever noticed how quickly the protective coating peels off? It is worth scratching them a little and that's it, “write it’s gone.” Further, the process proceeds along the knurled one, and it is practically impossible to stop it, especially if we take into account the constant humidity in the rooms of the bathroom or toilet.

MDF doors are absolutely unsuitable for use in rooms with a high moisture content in the air. Answering the question, which doors to put in the bathroom, we can say that any, but not from MDF.

What doors to put in the bathroom: wood products

One of the main properties of any wood product is to release moisture into dry air and take it out of an atmosphere saturated with water vapor. Thus, the tree "breathes". This process can be both visually noticeable and elusive for the human eye. Such changes in the shape of the tree can be successfully resisted - for these purposes, wooden doors are coated with varnish or paint, and the door frame, among other things, is securely attached to the opening using mounting foam and anchors. Without the latter, the likelihood that door frame will lead, very high.

In addition, these endless drying and wetting of wood leads to the destruction of wood products. No matter how you care for doors made of natural or glued beams, there will be one end - cracks and, as a result, an unsightly look. But first of all, endless layers of paint and varnish products will begin to separate, and the doors will have to be restored. Maintenance of wooden doors is very expensive.

To the question of which door to choose for the bathroom - wooden or another, the answer will be as follows. Wooden doors can be used in the bathroom, but with a caveat - you will have to constantly maintain the protective coating in perfect order. Are you willing to pay for an attractive looking natural material? Then install.

Metal-plastic doors for the bathroom: the ideal solution at an affordable price

Interior doors to the bathroom, made of a modern metal-plastic profile, in comparison with the above-described products for a similar purpose, have a number of advantages.

  1. The material used for the manufacture of these doors (aluminum and plastic) is absolutely not affected by moisture - it does not rot and does not change its shape under its influence.
  2. It has durability, which is due to the same inertness of the material used to all temperature and humidity conditions.
  3. Variety of colors. By and large, using modern Pvc film, you can give any shade and even structure. With the help of such lamination, it is possible to easily imitate the structure of any tree.

What doors to put in the bathroom

These qualities are quite enough to give preference to doors from a metal-plastic profile. From myself I want to add that the care and operation of such structures is not particularly difficult - occasionally they have to be wiped with a damp cloth and even less often they are cleaned with modern detergents.

Minimum maintenance and durability of operation of doors from a metal-plastic profile make them ideal option for use in the bathroom.

How to choose a bathroom door: glass and features of its use in the bathroom

Everyone is familiar with glass, and I think there is no need to explain why it is not exposed to moisture - this material can be called ideal for use in the bathroom, if not for a few "BUT".

  1. With an abundance of moisture, condensation begins to form on the glass doors. In principle, you can put up with it - the problem lies only in the consequences of condensation. It leaves streaks and streaks on the glass, which are visible even after drying. In addition, dripping condensation falls on the floor and forms puddles.
  2. Brittleness despite the thickness of the glass used. To cope with this problem and safely operate even with small children in the house, they need to be covered with a special shock-resistant film. By the way, the issue of transparency of glass doors can also be solved with the help of tinting films.
  3. Care. It is not so easy to get rid of water drips on glass - such doors must either be wiped dry every day, or put up with the untidy appearance of the surface.

Despite the fact that glass doors are fully consistent with the positive answer to the question of which bathroom, they are still not a very good solution. It is better to give preference to metal-plastic doors.

Glass door to the bathroom photo

So, with the question of which doors are better for the bathroom, we have decided, now it only remains to decide the question of their design. Many probably know that in addition to the usual swing doors, there are also accordion doors, and even folding ones. To one degree or another, they are equally successful in coping with the tasks assigned to them.

A specialist in his field in a video clip tells in detail which doors are better to choose.

The difference lies only in some operational nuances - for example, swing doors require a lot of space to open, which is usually worth its weight in gold in small apartments. Sliding ones have insufficient sound insulation (with the exception of their cassette varieties). The same can be said for folding doors and accordion doors. In general, if you think sensibly, then the most suitable door design for a bathroom is a swing door. It is she who is able to provide both proper sound insulation and give the room an interesting look in terms of design.

Which doors are best for the bathroom

Summing up all of the above, we can say that the best doors for a bathroom are, of course, swing metal-plastic products. Although, this is just my opinion - maybe someone thinks differently. I will not insist, study the characteristics, analyze, consult with friends and draw your own conclusions.

Manufacturers produce a huge range of interior doors but not all of them are suitable for the bathroom. This room in the apartment has a special microclimate, and not every material can withstand it. When choosing a door for a bathroom, first of all, its operational characteristics are important, but the design, ease of use and appearance are also not the latest qualities. How to make the right purchase in all respects, read this article.

In addition to the standard requirements for interior doors, special ones are imposed on structures for the bathroom - these are resistance to high humidity and direct contact with water.

Hygroscopic materials absorb moisture, and when dry they deform, crack and change size. This quickly renders the doors unusable.

Important! The closer the product is to the source high humidity, the more resistant it should be to negative influences.

It is possible to reduce the requirements for the door in cases where a shower cabin is installed and it is located far from the opening or there is a partition separating the bathtub. This is permissible for premises large area... More often, a bathroom is a cramped space with a bathtub, sink, washing machine. With such a concentration of moisture sources, the door should be as protected as possible.

Another important requirement is ease of cleaning. The bathroom door will need to be washed more frequently due to fogging or water droplets.

The small size of the bathroom is also worth considering when choosing the opening method and the type of canvas. The right decision will help save usable space and visually increase the area.

Material - the main selection criterion

Use without restrictions on the level of humidity is permissible only for doors made of plastic and glass. All structures, which include solid wood or chip-based materials, are recommended to be operated at humidity up to 60%. Different ways of protecting products increase resistance to moisture, but do not remove the limitation.

Plastic

Ideal material for humid microclimate. Not afraid of water vapor or water droplets. The PVC door does not require renovation and additional processing... V classic version the products are white, you can give a different color or texture to the wood effect by painting or lamination with PVC film.

Advantages:

  • High resistance to moisture and temperature extremes.
  • No deformation.
  • Ease of cleaning.
  • Sound and heat insulation.
  • Possibility of using blind filling or glass.

Flaws:

  • Great weight.
  • A poor set of design options.
  • It is difficult to fit into the interior of adjacent rooms.

One of the designers' rules is that if there are several doors in a room, they should all be the same. At standard layout apartments, when the opening to the bathroom is located in the hallway, you will have to install plastic everywhere or neglect this postulate.

Glass

Door leaves are made from safe types of glass: triplex, duplex and tempered. Even in case of destruction, the product will disintegrate into small pieces without sharp corners or remain on the film. For the bathroom, opaque glass is used: tinted, matte or with a sandblasted pattern.

Advantages:

  • Moisture resistance.
  • Resistant to mold and mildew.
  • Preservation of shape and size when temperature drops.
  • Visual expansion of the room.
  • Presentable appearance.
  • Complete environmental safety.

Flaws:

  • High price.
  • Great weight.
  • Relative fragility.
  • Demanding care. Traces of water droplets and streaks are highly visible.
  • Glass is not suitable for all interior styles

In terms of performance, a glass door is an excellent option for a bathroom. But external features and price often stop you from buying such products.

Solid wood

A door made of solid wood is beautiful and high-status. But for the bathroom - not the best way... Such products are installed only in spacious bathrooms with good ventilation. If the door model is provided for by the design project, and it is impossible to deviate from it, use products from dense wood species: oak, beech. The surface of which is carefully processed antiseptic impregnations, protective compounds, varnishes.

Solid wood door is suitable for spacious bathrooms.

Advantages:

  • Attractive appearance.
  • Environmental Safety.
  • High strength.

Flaws:

  • Susceptible to mold and mildew.
  • The need to update the coverage.
  • Deformation and resizing due to prolonged contact with water or steam.
  • High price.

Solid wood doors have decent and inexpensive counterparts. They accurately convey the appearance natural wood, but the filling is made of cheaper materials - particle boards and fiber boards.

MDF and chipboard boards

The optimal solution in terms of price and characteristics - doors from MDF and chipboard. The former are made from wood fiber-based boards, the latter - from shavings. These materials are susceptible to the negative effects of moisture, so the outer surface is covered with a protective layer.

Note! The lower and upper ends of the canvases are often left open, so manufacturers simplify the manufacturing process. V normal conditions this does not matter, but for operation in high humidity, it is recommended to glue the edge with an iron or treat the cut with a waterproof varnish. When buying, pay attention to this.

Advantages:

  • Low weight of structures.
  • Affordable cost.
  • Moderate moisture resistance.
  • Easy to clean.
  • Attractive appearance.
  • Resistant to deformation.
  • Large selection of models and decorations.

Strength depends on the type of coating and the quality of the filling materials. The cheapest options are prone to scratches and cannot withstand heavy impacts. The film-coated doors have a noticeable imitation of natural wood.

Types of door coatings made of MDF and chipboard:

  • Paints and varnishes. Gives any color to the surface. Improves moisture resistance. The coverage needs updating. Some formulations will fade when exposed to moisture.
  • Laminate. A thin coating of paper and moisture-resistant varnish. Susceptible to mechanical damage. Simulates a tree pattern.
  • Laminatin. An improved version of the previous type. It is made of thicker paper, covered with several layers of varnish.
  • PVC film. The material conveys the texture and pattern of wood. Very durable, reliably protects the base from moisture.
  • Eco-veneer. Coated with plastic and wood fibers. Qualitatively imitates woody species. Resistant to any damage. Environmentally friendly.
  • Natural veneer. It is made from a thin layer of valuable wood species. It is almost impossible to distinguish a veneered door from a solid one, while it is much easier and cheaper than from an array. Resistance to moisture is moderate, direct contact with water is unacceptable.

Doors from MDF and chipboard are the most popular solution not only for the bathroom, but also for other premises. Their demand is due to their low price and good performance properties.

Choice of doors according to the size of the opening

Standard door sizes for houses old building, for example, Khrushchev: height - 2000 mm, width - 600 mm. V modern apartments ah the opening in the bathroom is wider. This is due to the peculiarities of furniture and plumbing. Fullsize washing machines, jacuzzi, large baths and shower cabins may not pass into a narrow passage, therefore the width of the doors is made larger - 700, 800 mm. Non-standard openings are found in private houses and cottages.

When choosing a door, it is important to consider that it should be several centimeters lower and narrower than the opening.

The ratio of the dimensions of the opening, the box and the canvas. In width, everything that does not close the door frame is closed with extras. They are chosen a little wider than the part to be closed and trimmed in place.

Opening method

Ease of use depends on the way the door is opened. Some models are designed to save the cramped bathroom space. Standard designs are usually less expensive than telescopic, foldable, or rotary designs. But the last three look unusual and less cumbersome.

Swing

The classic option for any premises is swing doors. They open without physical effort, are easy to install, but require free space to open. The end of the canvas on the side of the hinges conceals the width of the opening, so you should not mount such a model in a too narrow passage.

The canvas fits tightly into the box, which provides high-quality sound and heat insulation.

Sliding

Arranged as a wardrobe. They save space, completely open the doorway, but insulate the room worse, since the canvas does not fit snugly. They can move along the wall, which requires a small gap when installing furniture and plumbing, or into the internal cavity.

The sliding mechanism saves space against the wall.

A significant disadvantage of these structures is a complex device. The blade runs on rollers. If any object or debris falls into the groove, the door will fail. It will be especially difficult to eliminate the breakage when moving into the inner cavity of the wall.

Foldable

Another way to save space is to install folding doors. They are opened by folding the web in one or more places. When folded, they take up space inside the opening, therefore they are not suitable for bathrooms in old houses.

Folding doors accordion and book.

This model has low insulating characteristics. The harness and the canvas are not tightly connected. Another drawback is the high risk of hardware breakage.

Rotary

This is a combination of swing and sliding doors... The canvas first opens in the classical way, then moves close to the wall. The door fits snugly to the rail and protects the room well from noise and draft. When open, it takes up a minimum of space, but hides the width of the opening.

Rotary design for the bathroom.

Fittings

Door fittings include hinges, handles and latch. Ease of management and service life without breakdowns depend on their quality. Mechanical elements are made of metal. The material of the handles is unlimited - it can be plastic, wood or metal.

Types of loops

Hinges are detachable and universal. The former allow you to quickly remove the canvas without dismantling the fasteners, but they can sag, therefore, they are suitable only for lightweight structures. The latter are more reliable, withstand heavy canvas, but in order to remove the canvas, it is necessary to unscrew the loops themselves.

Most often, overhead and mortise hinge models are used:

  • overheads are easy to install, but take up a small space between the box and the canvas;
  • mortise requires preliminary milling of recesses for their installation and are completely buried in the base material.

The movable part of the hinges is located outside the door and remains visible, but models of a secret type are produced - their mechanism is hidden between the canvas and the frame.

Types of handles and latches

Knob handle - a device with a built-in latch and lock. Easy to install and operate, but breaks down more often than others. It can be made with ball or latch handles.

It is possible to install the handle and latch separately. In this case, the mechanism is spaced inside the door, the wrapper simply fixes the handle from turning, thereby blocking the door from opening.

In other words, the retainer is also called a wrap.

Color selection

The choice of door color and design is a matter of taste and personal preference. But it is worth adhering to several rules so that this design does not knock out of the interior of the apartment. Usually, the color of the door is matched to the floor covering: to match, darker or lighter by several shades - this is the simplest solution for people who are far from design. In this case, the canvas can contrast with the color of the walls.

A canvas to match the floor is a win-win option.

White is a universal option, it almost always looks appropriate, visually expands the space and makes the room brighter. This also includes all pastel shades.

White door fits any interior.

The popular dark shade of wenge adds sophistication to the simplest interior, but it is desirable to combine it with a dark floor. It is important to take into account that such tones can crush and visually reduce the area.

Wenge - a stylish solution

Bright colored models look catchy and unusual. But it is difficult to fit them into the interior on your own. They must necessarily overlap with other elements of the interior: decoration details, furniture, accessories.

Successful combination screaming canvas and bright elements interior.

If you don't want to focus on the doors, you can choose models to match the walls. To highlight the structure, it is permissible to frame it with a platband of the same color as the plinth.

Contrast door trim to match the walls.

When developing an interior without a designer's hand, it is advisable not to combine warm and cold colors in the same room. If all doors are located in the corridor, then you should choose the same model.

Glass and mirror inserts will help make the door more airy, light, and at the same time expand the space.

Do I need a ventilation grill

If the microclimate in the bathroom does not deviate from the permissible values and the exhaust system does its job well, then you do not need to buy doors with a grill or install it yourself.

The correct door should be mounted without a threshold, but with a 1-1.5 cm gap under the door. This will improve ventilation (and not only in the bathroom) and you will not stumble all your life. The grille, without good ventilation, will not solve the problem of high humidity, but it will greatly spoil the appearance. Better to install an exhaust fan and make a gap under the door.

Choosing bathroom doors is not difficult if you know what criteria and characteristics are used to evaluate products. For rooms with a special microclimate, not only the appearance is not so important, but the properties of the structure and the ability to withstand negative influences.

Bathroom doors - important element interior, which should be organically combined with plumbing fixtures, furniture and cladding. However, the main purpose of the door is not aesthetic qualities, but its reliability and functionality.

Often, among designers and homeowners, disputes arise about which door to put in the bathroom, but there is no definite answer, because much depends on the area of the room, the level of humidity, the quality of ventilation and the design features of the canvas itself.

No matter how stylish and expensive the doors you choose, first of all, they must be moisture resistant, that is, protected from high humidity, hot air and contact with water.

Without a protective coating, natural wood or MDF board deforms: it swells, then shrinks, which is why it becomes covered with cracks and ceases to fulfill its main function.

The effect of moisture and high temperature can be mitigated by installing a bathroom or shower stall on the opposite wall from the door, or by erecting an additional partition.

In a spacious room with well-equipped ventilation, you can install a door with any type of design - from processed baguette array to metal-plastic. The humidity level in a large bathroom is not hazardous, and direct water ingress on door covering excluded

The most successful for a cramped bathroom are metal-plastic and glass canvases, for spacious room- any products with a protective layer.

For example, laminate products are covered with a thick synthetic film that does not allow moisture to pass through. So that the appearance does not contradict the general interior solution, a laminate that imitates natural wood is chosen.

Let's also look at the different types of doors and try to identify their advantages and disadvantages:

Types of canvases by material of manufacture

Choosing the design of the product, its location, decoration, rely mainly on the material from which the canvas is made. The texture of wood suggests one type of finish, plastic - another, glass - a third, and the possibilities of each material are far from limitless.

For example, it is difficult to place a pvc product in a palace interior, and glass sliding doors in a country-style room.

Budget option - MDF

If you are interested in attractive products of the middle price segment, no doubt purchase MDF doors, which can be easily described in one word - universal.

Manufacturers offer quite interesting models in walnut, wenge and cherry shades, decorated with glass inserts, for only 2000-2500 rubles. Design proposals, of course, will cost more, however, for a bathroom-toilet couple, standard canvases that do not attract the eye are more often selected, since in the main role play tiles, furniture and plumbing fixtures.

The most common option from MDF is a blank canvas of baguette or milled type, imitating popular types of wood (oak, ash, walnut, maple) and reinforced with a protective coating

You will be pleased with the relative ease and ease of use of MDF products - they are not as fragile as glass. Due to the natural composition (pressed sawdust and binder lignin) and environmental friendliness, doors are good in houses with large quantity children and animals.

They are moisture resistant, but there is a risk of minimal changes in size during the heating season. The primer and enamel covering their surface increases the resistance to mechanical wear.

Environmentally friendly solid wood

The fashion for natural materials has led to the fact that solid wood doors are becoming more and more in demand among owners. country cottages, and from the owners of city apartments.

Wooden products do not need additional decorative finishing - the wood texture has a natural beauty. It is enough to saturate the surface with varnish or special wax, as the soft, porous and pliable wood turns into a durable, waterproof, pest and mildew resistant canvas.

Solid wood doors, especially those made of valuable or rare wood, can often be seen in luxury houses, the interior of which corresponds to aristocratic style... The price range is wide - from 20 to 200 thousand rubles

Many do not see much difference in different breeds trees - and are deeply mistaken. The color of bleached, with a milky shade of hornbeam or almost black, with the noble waxy shine of bog oak cannot be confused with anything. Alder, like cherry, has a light redness, and pine shades represent a whole range - from brownish-pink to yellow.

Elegant veneer

Veneer finishing is an appropriate offer as an alternative option for those who value natural beauty and practicality. Veneer is a thin sheet of wood obtained by a special sawing process. For the manufacture of interior doors, sawn material is used, which is the most resistant to mechanical damage.

The use of veneering makes the door structure lighter, makes it more accessible, while the textured features and wood pattern are preserved in their original form.

Special processing of veneer - usually 2-3 layers of varnish - increases the strength of a thin sheet of wood and allows the use of interior doors in kitchens, bathrooms and bathrooms, that is, in rooms with high humidity

Modern methods of wood processing make it possible to produce veneer from various species - beech, apple, oak, poplar, olive. Due to the democratic price, the walnut texture is the most popular, and oak veneer models are distinguished by their durability and wear resistance, therefore their cost is higher.

The versatility of veneered products allows them to harmoniously fit into any design project - they are perfectly combined with sanitary ware and bathroom furniture.

Practical laminate

If you liked laminated doors, be sure to ask what type of film was used in their production. The cheapest products are covered with a layer of cellulose impregnated with synthetic resins. Obviously, a paper "shirt" is absolutely unsuitable for bathroom furnishings.

You should choose models wrapped in polyvinyl chloride elastic film 0.5 mm thick, or even more durable two-sided laminate with a thickness of up to 0.8 mm, which is more expensive and resembles veneer in appearance.

Caring for door leaves covered with laminate is wiping the film with a damp sponge or a piece of cloth (microfiber). You can use non-aggressive detergents such as laundry soap or bath cleaning gel

For bathroom with budget interiors laminated doors are perfect: cheap, easy to install and simple care... If desired, among the monotonous models, you can find options with a curly panel or glass design.

However, it must be remembered that you should not expect an exquisite design from doors of this type, as well as special strength - products with a honeycomb filler are rarely reliable.

Plastic: a variety of choices

Plastic bathroom doors don't have to resemble standard balcony blocks white... Manufacturers offer various options swing, sliding, folding structures, consisting of plastic, metal-plastic and glass.

If the thickness and structure of the wall allows, you can choose an original modern solution - cassette doors. They do not require additional space for deployment, but are placed in the wall or parallel to it.

White plastic is perfectly combined with plumbing equipment and furniture of similar shades and organically fits into the interior in pastel, milky, beige or pearl colors

To save space and money, many people choose the "accordion" - a folding door made of plastic slats. Immediately after installation, you will notice the disadvantages of a device that is convenient at first glance: instability of the structure, large gaps, lack of reliability.

A sliding door on rollers is much more convenient and functional, and with precisely selected dimensions it is not inferior in sound insulation to a conventional swing structure.

Impact resistant glass

Glass systems are not yet as widespread as metal-plastic ones, but their popularity is growing every year. Beautiful, beautifully decorated, durable and completely non-responsive to the effects of water, the doors are made for bathrooms. Glass goes well with faience, porcelain, chrome and gilded fittings.

The safety of glass doors is guaranteed by the use of modern materials: polycarbonate, tempered glass, plexiglass, triplex. It is very difficult to break a product made of the listed materials, and in case of damage, the fragments hang on the doors or crumble into pieces without sharp corners

How to maintain privacy and deprive glass of its inherent transparency? They recommend several successful methods:

  • gold, silver, colored spraying;
  • adhesive film coating;
  • drawings and ornaments with stained glass paints;
  • frosted or tinted glass;
  • stained-glass window made of colored glass.

Glass doors are often made to order, so there are no problems with decoration, framing, choice of texture or image. A small minus of glass is the appearance of streaks when condensate accumulates, but you can get rid of this trouble by adjusting ventilation and using ventilation.

Sliding and folding door systems

When it is necessary to save space adjacent to the doorway, or to complete an original design project, they choose not traditional swing doors, but folding and sliding type structures.

The easiest way to install is to mount the overhead system. It includes door leaf, which moves along a guide (metal profile or decorative hanger) along the wall.

Some structures in their functionality resemble the front of the wardrobe: to open the door leaf, it is necessary to move it to the side with a slight movement

The design is so simple that many install it on their own, choosing canvases from various materials as doors: wood, MDF board, plastic.

Sliding one-way or two-way system consists of the following parts:

  • 1 or 2 door leaves;
  • guide profile (suspension) installed above the doorway;
  • rollers fixed in the upper end part of the flaps;
  • a stop that does not allow the doors to swing and is located on the floor.

To make a latch, it is necessary to install a stand on the opposite side and adjust the locking mechanism. A variant of sliding systems are cassette in-wall structures, which are great for new buildings, but in old Stalinist, panel and block houses, problems may arise with their installation.

The design, choice of material and external design of sliding doors largely depend on the area of the bathroom and corridor, as well as on design goals. Suppose glass doors visually increase the space of the premises.

Despite the recommendations of experts, some residents choose folding doors and accordion doors. These are two similar options, united by one principle of disclosure. "Accordions" consist of many identical elements, which, when folded, are assembled like the bellows of a musical instrument of the same name.

The doors of the "book" consist of two large parts, folding in a certain direction. It is extremely impractical to use both solutions for bathroom furnishings, as it is difficult to achieve good sound insulation and reliability. These designs are more suitable for the installation of interior partitions.

The weakest point of folding doors is the hardware that connects the plates and fixes them to the top rail. If there are three or more people in the family, the fasteners will wear out very quickly.

Choice of doors and style solutions

One of starting points when choosing a door model is the style of the bathroom. It is taken into account in wall cladding, the selection of plumbing equipment and furniture, and, of course, it is reflected in the design of door and window openings.

A favorite of homeowners is the classics - noble, elegant, calm, ideal for decorating a room intended for bathing. It is allowed to use wooden or veneered door leaves in a traditional baguette frame.

Door color in classic interior should intersect with the shade of the surrounding walls, most often these are pastel colors - beige, gray, pearl, golden, pink or light blue

Country style is distinguished by simplicity and deliberate roughness of execution. Doors from any material are suitable: solid wood, MDF, veneer, laminate.

To give the doors a touch of rustic imperfection, they can be aged using special impregnations and paints, as well as by choosing an unpretentious, outdated design.

In a minimalist interior, the doors seem to merge with the wall, do not stand out from the general background. The design is the simplest; glass, plastic, moisture-resistant veneer are used for manufacturing.

One of the principles of minimalism is the absence of unnecessary details, which is also manifested in the design of the door leaf, however, it can still be decorated with neat, discreet details, for example, frosted glass inserts

The luxurious Art Deco style emphasizes the richness and sophistication of the interior. This is reflected in the overall design of the bathroom and in individual details, including doors: for their manufacture they choose rare types of wood, use stained-glass windows self made or an elaborate wrought-iron finish.

Unlike minimalism or hi-tech, the art deco style is characterized by pretentiousness, extravagance and eclecticism. A sample of door decoration - curly carvings against the background of Venetian plaster and designer tiles

Whatever doors you choose, the main thing is that they match the interior design and your taste.

13 June 2013

When you start decorating your bathroom, every detail, even the smallest, should be considered. Pay special attention to the doors to the bathroom, because they are under very heavy stress. It is advisable to solve this problem during the repair.

When choosing a door, you should pay attention to the following factors: the material from which the door is made, color, cost and design. If there is a desire, then it can be made a real highlight of the bathroom and for this, apply photo printing or use matte, glass or colored doors, all these solutions will look great and attract the eyes of guests. As a rule, the owners install the same doors into this room that were used throughout the house. The truth is, do not forget about the fact that the doors to the kitchen and bedroom are not exposed to much impact. environment: steam, water, frequent temperature changes. All of these factors have the most unfavorable effect on the state of the door in the bathroom, therefore, the choice should be taken away special place... With a poorly selected door, it will deform very quickly and, accordingly, you will have to replace it.

Which door to choose for the bathroom, and what characteristics the product should have:

Natural product. It is allowed to install solid wood doors in the bathroom, just make sure that the wood has been well dried, the structure is made taking into account all modern technologies, and several layers of a special protective coating are applied to the array. It is recommended to buy such doors only from a trusted manufacturer who has been on this market for more than one year and has managed to establish itself only with better side... After all, we don't want to run out the door again and re-install in a few months.

The most budget option among the doors are considered to be from solid pine, they are varnished and tinted. It must be remembered that pine doors tend to absorb water much more than oak, mahogany (treated with special impregnations) or maple. Their price is also appropriate, therefore they are much less common.

For doors that are faced with valuable wood veneer, all of the above also applies. During their manufacture, careful processing is carried out and are observed installed technology production.

Solid wood interior doors are often decorated with metal and glass inserts, so you get original and memorable doors. In order for you not to have additional trouble during cleaning, it is better to avoid these delights.

Laminate is everywhere. Now more and more often they use laminate doors, its secret is quite simple, because the material is famous for its excellent moisture resistance, attractive appearance and strength, and they cost an order of magnitude less than wooden ones.

The doors are covered with a special durable film that protects the material from external influences... When choosing a door for rooms with high humidity, preference should be given to a fairly common material - moisture resistant MDF. Inside, the space of the frame is filled with jumpers or stubs in the form of strips, interconnected in the form of honeycombs.

If you want to opt for laminated doors, then pay Special attention on the material of the end, because, as a rule, it is here that the peeling of the coatings is observed due to high humidity. It is better to choose doors with PVC edges. If you do not know which doors are in front of you and what they are made of, then contact a consultant and ask him for technical documentation, so you will know what materials were used in the manufacture and can choose the appropriate ones for your room. Then ask about the warranty, and from the technical information you will find out about the recommended humidity, temperature and other operating conditions.

Doors with a plastic coating are considered more durable than laminated doors. It is worth highlighting the excellent wear resistance and durability in the manufacture of using only harmless polymers. The door imitates the material not only externally, but if you touch it you will feel the same sensations, such a result can be achieved thanks to modern vacuum technologies.

For adherents of modern style, you can hardly find a better option than a glass door. This type of door is very often used for various design solutions, she can become a real highlight of your room.

Glass is a fairly practical material, because it is not subject to sudden changes in temperature and high humidity, it will not be able to "go" to the side or sag like, for example wooden door... It is quite simple to take care of such material for this you will have enough ordinary detergent and a soft cloth. But glasses are different and in order for your door to serve as long as possible, you need to choose doors made of shock-resistant material: multi-layer or tempered.

Such glass is very difficult to break, but even if this happens, it will not disintegrate into many small fragments. This fact is very important for the bathroom.

In order for the door to serve you as long as possible, you need to make all the necessary conditions for this. It is necessary to start with ventilation, it is important here, like in any other room, because water vapor should be removed from the room rather quickly, and the temperature should return to normal. If there is not enough ventilation in the room, then all condensation will collect on the surface of the ceiling, doors (which will lead to deformation) and the walls of the room. Remember that even a low-quality door can last much longer in a well-ventilated bathroom than a quality one with poor ventilation.

In order for the air to circulate as best as possible, in addition to ventilation, it is necessary to leave gaps between the lower edge of the door and the threshold. More recently, special doors with a plastic lattice located on the lower part of the leaf have appeared on the market.

When the door is purchased, you should not install it yourself, in this case it is better to call experienced master, because if the installation technology is not preserved, there is a risk that the door frame will begin to absorb moisture, which is why it will swell and, as a result, the doors will not close.

As the experts themselves say to choose good door for a bathroom in reality it is very difficult, it is advisable to read a sufficient amount of literature before buying. Now you know that the door has to withstand the effects of moisture on the surface, be it painting or veneer. The most the best option for the bathroom there is a glass door in aluminum frame, after it there are doors made of MDF. Alternatively, you can install the same doors throughout the apartment and not focus on the bathroom, in reality it will be enough to choose more expensive models... Try to give preference to hollow models that are not so prone to deformation.

In order for the doors to the bathroom to serve as long as possible, try while taking a shower and closed door turn on forced draft. Follow this advice even if at your door ventilation gap, this will prevent steam from accumulating in the bathroom.

If you are a fan of hot showers, then install a painted or frosted door in an aluminum box. When you make a purchase, be sure to ask the seller if it can be installed in rooms with high humidity.

It does not matter what material the chosen door will be of, whether it be veneer or solid wood, the main thing is that it is properly soaked in special means, and varnish is applied. Currently, protective equipment is so good and of high quality that designers are not afraid to use wooden furniture, not to mention doors.

Laminated doors are practically not subject to sudden changes in temperature and humidity, but they are significantly inferior to the array in their appearance.

Before you finally decide on any of the models, you should analyze whether there is forced ventilation and how good she is. Thanks to this nuance, you will be able to regulate the temperature in the room and accordingly extend the service life of your door. If you choose sliding doors, then you do not have to think about the gap that should be left between the door frame and the canvas.

Please read carefully before purchasing technical information, it will indicate what temperature will be optimal and what maximum they can withstand, recommendations for installation and door care.

The operating conditions of the doors directly depend on the environment. In the bathroom, for example, even if there is a powerful ventilation system, the humidity level will be higher than the average for the house, or even will "walk", then rising to maximum values, then dropping below the norm. It is from this stereotype that people make a start when choosing doors to the bathroom. In part, this is correct - who, after a couple of months, wants to face the problem of an unlocking door or see treacherous traces of rust on the gilded hinges.

On the other hand, manufacturers have foreseen these moments for a long time and have protected the products so that they function without failures in the most aggressive environment. True, this only applies to high-quality products. This means that buyers have the opportunity to install door structures with the same design throughout the apartment - deaf or with glass, swing or sliding, leading to all adjoining rooms, including a bathroom, a toilet, a dressing room, etc.
The isolated status of bathroom doors still takes place, but it does not concern design and price, but other factors. When choosing, pay attention to the following characteristics:

  • Dimensions: depend on the opening, which can be standard or non-standard;
  • Covering doors;
  • Convenient constipation
  • The type of opening and how well it suits your space.

These questions, as well as how to choose a bathroom door by material, will be covered in detail in the following paragraphs. In writing this article, the specialists of the online store "In the House" took part, who will help you choose interior doors for any premises.

How to order bathroom doors of the right size and not overpay?

How not to overpay for interior doors to the bathroom, toilet is one of the key issues, because these structures, or rather, the openings for them, do not always fit into the standard dimensions.

So, let's go in order - there are 2 options for the development of events:

  • Doorways correspond to common standard sizes;
  • The opening is too narrow and low.

What is the standard opening

It would be correct to consider the standardization of the dimensions of interior doors from two sides.

First, the parameters given in regulatory documents- GOSTs.

Second is the ruler standard sizes installed at a specific manufacturer. When choosing doors, we are interested in this very moment, because if a certain size is considered non-standard at the factory, then when ordering doors of this size, the overpayment will be from 30 to 50%.

What do the GOSTs say

V regulatory documents standards for interior doors are conventionally divided into 2 categories:

  • For a height of 1900 mm - doors can be 550, 600 mm wide;
  • For a height of 2000 mm - 600-900 mm (with a step of 100 mm).

But in enterprises producing interior doors, the height is 1900 mm. in half of the cases, it is considered non-standard, and requires an additional payment.

Attention! If overpaying is not included in your plans, look for the models you like from those manufacturers who make doors with a height of 1900 mm. no surcharges.

Most modern apartments are equipped with openings of the second standard size, leaving a height of 2 m.

The width of the doors is usually selected in accordance with the purpose of the room:

  • In rooms - 80 mm;
  • To the kitchen - 70 mm;
  • In the bathroom, toilet - 60 mm.

That is, for bathrooms and toilets in some types typical houses leave a minimum opening. This option is no longer considered inconvenient for buyers today. For most manufacturers, each series of interior doors is available in the entire existing range of sizes that fit within the framework of standards. This means that you can order 3-4 or more doors of the same design in one place at once to be installed in the hallway at the exits to the bathroom, toilet, living room, kitchen and other rooms (in accordance with the layout).

Conclusion: you are in luck if all doorways, including those for utility rooms, have the same height and approximately the same width. Before you - a huge assortment of models from all existing materials, at a price from 2 to 50 or more thousand rubles, of any color and style.

If the opening does not fit into the established standards - what to do?

Doors to the bathroom in the houses of the 137 series often do not fit into any standards at all. In special cases, the question is such that it is no longer a matter of price. We need to find a factory that can make doors of this size at all.

Factories that are engaged in the manufacture of too high (low) or wide (narrow) canvases can be found on the Internet, if you type in the search line "custom-made interior doors in non-standard openings", and the city in which you live. Of course, such products are not produced in circulation, they are not among the ready-made designs, so get ready for the fact that:

  • Doors will be made to order, from 2 weeks to 2 months;
  • The price for 1 position will increase by 30-50%;
  • Installation costs will also increase.

The production of standard doors in factories has been put on stream. Accordingly, the equipment is adjusted to a certain standard size. To obtain a design with larger or smaller parameters, it will be necessary to change the settings of the machine tools, and possibly the technology, which will lead to even greater labor costs and an increase in cost.

What if the bathroom and toilet require custom-sized doors, and there is no way to overpay?

  1. Look for manufacturers who are engaged in the production of models of the required sizes, and then, among the selected names, choose factories where the price for non-standard sizes will be with a minimum overpayment.
  2. At the stage of repair, you can expand the opening if the project allows. This is the best option, because it will solve the problem with the choice of doors once and for all, will allow you to bring in dimensional furniture and plumbing without any problems, and will provide a lot of options for choosing a design.
  3. Cut the door leaf in height. The method is not suitable for models with a film coating, and for solid wood doors it is considered a reasonable solution if the work is done by a professional.

Doors from what materials can be installed in the bathroom, and from which not?

Why did we decide to specifically highlight the problem of choosing doors to the bathroom? Of course, it's not just a few drops of water that can accidentally fall on the canvas: the drop version just doesn't do as much harm as the cyclically changing atmosphere. Even with a powerful supply and exhaust ventilation maintaining the humidity and temperature in the bathroom at the same level is almost impossible.

What kind of doors are installed in the bathroom?

In general, interior doors differ from each other in three key features:

  • Base material;
  • Coating;
  • Design.

The moisture resistance of the canvas depends on each of them. That is, some models are categorically not recommended to be installed in places with a changing atmosphere, while others, on the contrary, are able to withstand direct ingress of water and the constant presence of condensation for a long time.

Of the three listed factors, it is the base material that affects moisture resistance less than the others. The choice of coating is very important - it creates protection and prevents moisture penetration into the inner layers. Also, a lot depends on the quality of the assembly and the type of construction, because if a micro gap remains at the joints of the panels and the base or on the edges, it will thus become a "moisture bridge" and over time from small defect will turn into a huge gap in the form of a swollen, unclosed canvas.

However, the door to the bathroom is not always PVC or eco-veneer. Modern materials and processing technologies make it possible to use solid wood structures for this purpose. Which models are able to constantly withstand the onslaught of high humidity - let's discuss in detail:

Inexpensive film doors

  • Laminated with inexpensive smooth wood-like cellulose film;
  • Covered with a thin paper-based eco-veneer 0.1-0.3 mm thick, imitating the texture and pattern of an array.

Their main plus is low price... Nevertheless, if there is some cash reserve, we do not recommend installing such models in a bathroom, especially in a small one, where humidity manifests itself in two ways - in the form of steam and with direct contact with drops. Even very high-quality protection weakens over time, the paper gets wet, moisture penetrates to MDF, which, although it is considered moisture resistant, will swell after a year or two. The door will change in size and you will have difficulty closing. Yes, and the model's appearance will suffer. Therefore, if there is a laminate, then it is worth giving up, or it is not for long.

Film doors in the middle price segment

  • High quality, durable PVC films;
  • Polypropylene coverings, including high-class eco-veneer with a thickness of 0.4-0.5 mm.

Films protect the inner content by 100% in the event that they were used during their application efficient technologies and there is not the slightest defect on the surface. The strength of the synthetic materials is sufficient to resist impacts and small scratches. And this is important, because in the case of interior doors made of PVC and eco-veneer, attention should be paid to the level of their performance. Water can hit them if there is a loophole for it.

By design, foil doors are divided into 2 groups:

  • Panel boards - from a solid canvas, possibly with decorative application by milling;
  • Prefabricated - paneled and side panels, consisting of a base (frame) and inserts from MDF, glass.

Bathtub panel doors with quality assembly are the right choice.

These are canvases made from a single sheet of MDF or milled. The latter are outwardly similar to paneled ones (when the inserts go separately from the frame), yet it is their imitation, which is performed for the purpose of decoration.

Covering panel doors with films is carried out in stages. First, the material is applied to the facades in a single sheet (PVC films and eco-veneer are sold in rolls). After that, narrow sidewalls (edges) are glued. As a result, a seam is formed at the joint. This is the first weak point of panel structures. The sensitivity of the door to moisture will depend on how well the connection is made, how tightly the floor is made.

Milled doors are covered with foil using the same technology.

There is a third option for panel models - with glass inserts. In the places where they are installed, cut MDF plate, a timber is laid inside for fixing the glass. The joint where the wood board meets the glass is the second weak point in the structure.

Choosing a panelized film door to the bathroom, carefully inspect the edges and the junction of the glass. You can take them only if there are no defects on the surface - even the smallest.

PVC paneled and side doors, eco-veneer in the bathroom - 100% your option!

In this case, all attention is also paid to the quality of the product. In fact, such a door is a prefabricated constructor. The advantage lies in the technology of coating with protective materials: roll films are not completely wrapped finished door, and separately each element. In this case, the joints at the panels are left on the side that will be hidden inside the frame groove.

The second point is the edges: in paneled structures, the frames are completely wrapped, without creating joints on the sidewalls, so they are completely devoid of those weak points that panel canvases have. But on the other hand, both the upper and lower ends remain open - as a rule, they are not covered with films, because they are not visible.

Veneered doors

We mean doors covered with natural veneer. The same wood, which is known to be very hygroscopic (especially some varieties). Moisture resistance depends on the quality and type of protection. In veneered doors, this role is played by varnish - it is carefully coated on all surfaces, except for the upper and lower ends. If glass panels are used, then they are mounted together with seals, achieving a tight and reliable connection.

Coated doors enamel

It is the undisputed leader in the rating of materials for protecting fabrics from water and moisture. The enamel fits evenly on all parts of the structure. The glass installation method is the same as described above. Weak points are the ends above and below.

Can I install solid wood doors in the bathroom

The segment of the most durable, reliable and expensive interior doors. Given the tendency of wood to absorb moisture, is it worth spending large sums for a product that may not be suitable for use in the bathroom. Or have the manufacturers coped with this task?

Doors go into production different varieties wood. The most common are 5 types (in order of decreasing cost):

  • Ash;
  • Alder;
  • Pine.

How ready product will react to increased humidity - depends on the type of wood and on the protection option. We will deal with the varieties of the massif and the level of their hygroscopicity a little later. First, about protective coatings - they are of two types:

  • Breathable - paint, wax, impregnation;
  • Non-breathable - primers, enamels, varnishes.

The first to perform deeper processing of the array. Substances - stronger or weaker - penetrate into the inner layers, leaving open the pores, due to which the tree "breathes" and ensures normal air exchange in the room. Materials from the second category clog the pores, thereby providing a more reliable natural protection of the tree from moisture.

Now - about the moisture resistance of wood species.

Pine

Its advantages are low cost, beautiful drawing, high thermal insulation, a huge amount of resins in the wood, which make it relatively resistant to moisture. It is for this reason that doors are often found from generally unprocessed pine. But living material with open pores will react to moisture. Given the looseness of the wood, it will expand or contract strongly. To close the pores and give additional water-repellent properties, it is impregnated with wax. Often it is tinted and varnished. It is not recommended to paint with enamel, because due to large coefficient expansion, it may crack.

Alder

Alder is slightly denser than pine, but without resins. Therefore, it absorbs moisture much more. As coatings it is necessary to choose more dense compositions: primer, enamel, varnish. The breed is often used for surface finishing in saunas. The wood does not overheat, thus preventing burns. People are also attracted by its beautiful reddish hue and pleasant smell, similar to the aroma of cognac.

Oak

Suitable breed for making bathroom doors. Behaves well in high humidity conditions, provided the wood is well dried and reliably covered correct formulations... Oak absorbs moisture well, but does not change in size much due to the density of the wood. It is not necessary to cover it with dense opaque coatings. Paint or varnish works great.

Ash

Ash is similar to oak, but if the latter becomes as strong as metal under water (remember bog oak), the ash begins to rot. Therefore, ash trees are not placed outdoors. In damp rooms, antiseptic treatment is required, but this is normal for natural wood. In general, when used in apartments and houses, it is no different from oak and the outer coatings are generally identical.

Beech

As strong as oak, but unlike the latter, it is very hygroscopic, like alder. If we talk about pure untreated wood, then it is not recommended to use it even under normal conditions, not to mention high humidity. Solid beech doors should be finished with as dense coverings as possible. It is better to install enamel doors in the bathroom.

Bathroom door fittings - hinges, handles, screws

Bathroom and toilet are the most visited places in an apartment or house. The doors to these rooms are subject to increased stress, especially in large families or communal apartments. It turns out that when choosing fittings, attention should be paid not only to its moisture resistance and protection against corrosion, but also to the reliability of the opening and locking mechanisms.

Locks

  • Plumbing wrapping;
  • Knob handle with built-in wrap;
  • The latch or latch.

The plumbing wrap is considered the most convenient. Is a standard mortise lock... Unlike mechanisms installed in entrance doors, it has a simple design and one tongue that flies into the groove and is locked with a latch. The advantage of this design is reliability, although installation requires more effort than installing a simple bolt, and the service is relatively expensive.

Plumbing locks are so called because they do not have much secrecy, but fulfill the only mission - to prevent accidental opening of the room when it is occupied. Some mechanisms have a small hole. It is necessary so that an adult can open the door with a hairpin, if a child who is playing suddenly forbids the door.

The knob is a mechanism with a ball-shaped handle, in the center of which there is a small rotating latch. It is worth installing it perpendicularly, and the mechanism is blocked, it becomes impossible to open it from the outside. Installation is carried out in 2 holes - one through is drilled in the canvas, the second right there, but from the end.

Espagnolette or the heck - why not? Such devices are inexpensive; you do not need to drill holes for installation. The downside is that if the child locks himself inside, the door will have to be broken.

Hinges

They have a triple load - from high humidity, frequent opening and the weight of the structure.

To prevent the hinges from corroding, choose stainless steel or brass accessories, but nickel or chrome plated.

Of all the types of hinge designs, one should not stop at butterfly models. Suitable here:

  • Card;
  • Mortise;
  • Hidden.

Card loops are the cheapest. If you focus on strength, take brass - they are stronger and can withstand a lot of weight. They look like 2 metal plates connected by a pin inside the cylinder. Installation is done on self-tapping screws.

Mortise models are similar to card models, but for their installation at the ends, at the attachment points, a recess is cut out in the size of the hinge bar. The fittings are put into the formed niche and fastened with self-tapping screws.

Hidden hinges are the most expensive and difficult to install. They create a more aesthetic appearance, because they remain invisible in any position of the canvas.

Do I need a threshold

The threshold on the bathroom door is optional. A small gap at the bottom serves as a natural ventilation... Some argue that the threshold in the bathroom is necessary so that in the event of a flood, it will hold back the water for some time and not allow it to rush into the living area. Experts say that for these purposes, a low floor installation is provided in the bathroom. Indeed, the level flooring in the bathroom it is lower than in the rooms, which means that the threshold, as a restraining element, is not needed.

Which of the existing options for closing doors optimally solve all 4 designated tasks? Recall that there are 5 varieties in total:

  • Swing.
  • Sliding - on a roller mechanism installed along the wall.
  • Sliding - in a pencil case.
  • Folding (books).
  • Rotdover.

Swing doors to the bathroom are the best solution

The classic version of doors, which is used in large-scale and individual construction. The swing door is more suitable for use in the bathroom than other designs. The main thing is to choose the right material, fittings and opening side (left, right), having assessed the situation around in advance. For example, if the bathroom and the toilet are next to each other, and the entrance to the kitchen is located on an adjacent wall (a traditional version of many typical projects), you should consider the location method so that the doors are in open form did not interfere with each other.

Advantages of swing doors:

  • Relatively low price due to a simple and understandable hanging mechanism;
  • Simple, fast installation;
  • A high degree of tightness (if the installation is done correctly): achieved due to high-quality seals;
  • Soundproofing: from the outside you can not hear the sound of a water jet knocking on the bottom of a steel bath;
  • Reliability and maintainability of fittings, which is also easy to replace.

Sliding systems - pros and cons

General advantages of all types of sliding doors:

  • Easy opening of the sash - no effort is required even for a child;
  • Saving space;
  • Visual appeal, stylish design;
  • There is no threshold;
  • The ability to install automation systems to fix the web in a certain position;
  • The set includes stoppers, limiters preventing automatic closing.

Flaws:

  • The high cost of fittings, locks;
  • Minimum sound insulation;
  • Difficult installation, especially for pencil case systems;
  • Special requirements for adjoining walls - they must be free so that nothing interferes with the movement of the canvas.

Both types of sliding structures are installed in the bathroom - ordinary (along the wall) and "in a pencil case".

Sliding along the wall

The most simple system of the existing sliding options... The guides are installed from above and below. The overhead roller slides left / right. The design is not suitable for installation in very cramped hallways, where the entrance to the bathroom and the toilet are on the same wall at a distance of several centimeters and are separated from each other by a thin partition.

The second point is that nothing can be put or hung on the wall: a table, a picture, a vase - everything will prevent opening.

The third minus is that it is impossible to achieve a tight closure. The lack of tightness in our case is not an unimportant factor. Water vapor in the form of condensation will accumulate on the walls and ceiling of the adjacent room. This can render the finish unusable if wallpaper is used in the design.

Yet, compared to alternative sliding models, this one is the cheapest and simplest. Sometimes you don't even need to buy a new canvas - you can simply remove the old one from the hinges and install it on the guides: the accessories are available and inexpensive.

Sliding in a pencil case

Not suitable for all premises, because it requires even more space around the opening for installation. As a rule, it is necessary to leave at least 1 m on the left and right sides, and also provide a distance from above where the cornice will be installed.

Installation options:

  • Break the wall, expand the opening approximately 2 times;
  • Install the "pencil case" in the opening where there was previously a double swing door;
  • Build a false wall to make a "pencil case" out of the swing door.

Please note that the mechanism that ensures the movement of the canvas will be built into the wall and operated in high humidity conditions. Pay attention to its quality, because if the hardware breaks, you will have to break the wall to repair or replace it.

Folding doors

There are 2 models available:

  • Book;
  • Harmonic.

Advantages:

  • Saving useful space;
  • Not demanding on adjacent walls, because they do not move to the side;
  • They allow the door to be opened to the required distance - it is not required to open the entire canvas if this is not necessary.

The constructions are completed with seals to achieve a tight seal. Disadvantages - complicated installation and expensive mechanism.

Rotodover

The rotor system is a synthesis of swing and sliding structures. Opening inward and outward is allowed, as in pendulum versions. When the web is opened, it rotates around an axis set in the center, and also shifts to the side. That is, being open, the door remains in the opening, but one half is in the bathroom, the other in the hallway or bedroom.

Disadvantages - minimal tightness and moisture, constantly affecting an expensive mechanism. If we consider such systems for the bathroom, then with great care, in the presence of good ventilation and a large area, where the sink and shower stall are at a decent distance from the entrance.

Conclusion! Which door to choose in the bathroom - today practically does not depend on the material. Manufacturers have long removed this issue from the agenda and provided buyers with an unlimited range of designs, colors and prices. Only one thing depends on us - to control how well the assembly is done and decorative coating, as well as what accessories are attached to the product and whether it corresponds to your ideas about beauty and comfort. The main point that hinders the free choice of doors is the issue of non-standard sizes.
