How to make a screen in the bathroom. Bath screen (45 photos): basic options

The bath screen is a design that is made of various materials and is used to hide communications. From a constructive point of view, there are several options for such protective panels, which allows you to choose the most suitable product for a particular interior. Screens allow not only to protect pipes from moisture, but also to decorate the room, make it more functional and original.

Today, bath screens are classified into two main groups:

solid;

sliding.

Solid models are the most common and are simple. However, the simplicity of the design does not affect its effectiveness. Facing such a product, as a rule, is made with the same materials as the rest of the room (for example, tiles). Thanks to this, the panel organically fits into the interior of the bathroom.

Sliding models, in turn, are more functional. The design of such screens allows you to organize shelves under the bathroom for storing household chemicals and other household items. Buy a bath screen sliding type can be in any building hypermarket or specialized store. And also it is not difficult to choose and order the product you like via the Internet.

Advantages and disadvantages of solid models

The arrangement of a solid screen in the bathroom allows you to achieve harmony in the interior of the room. Facing for such a screen can be very different, but most often they use decorative tiles or a mosaic. The most aesthetically pleasing look products lined with mosaics. Consider the advantages of solid models in more detail:

  • this design has a long service life;
  • solid tile bath screens are easy to clean. To clean the dirt, just use a damp cloth or sponge.

However, such panels also have some disadvantages that you should pay attention to:

  • in some cases, the small dimensions of the viewing window are not enough to carry out repairs under the bathroom;
  • the inability to store household chemicals under the bathroom;
  • in the presence of such a panel, replacing the bowl is accompanied by some difficulties, since the structure will have to be dismantled.

Note! To access the communications that are located under the bath bowl, it is necessary to equip an inspection hatch of sufficient size. In the case of such a hatch, there are no problems with the repair of pipes, since the dismantling of the shielding is excluded.

Thus, a solid screen is great solution for the interior of the bathroom, but its use is associated with some inconvenience.

Bath screen sizes

Protective panels differ not only in their design, but also in size. There are both standard and non-standard screen models. To date, the minimum length of these products is 105 cm, and the maximum can reach 190 cm.

Consider the dimensions of the most common screens:

  • length - 150, 170 cm;
  • width - from 50 to 56 cm;
  • thickness - 3 mm.

Less common model sizes are 160, 180 and 190 cm. Shielding custom bathtubs it is much more difficult to perform, since it is not always possible to find a suitable product for sale. Bath screens 150 cm are the most common and are easy to install.

Solid panels are equipped with legs, which are necessary for the regulation or fitting of the product. Bath screens 170 cm are also standard and are used much more often than models whose length is 180 or 190 cm.

Screen Design Differences

The construction market offers many varieties of such panels for every taste. They differ in design and functionality. Many companies are engaged in the production of custom-made bath screens, which allows us to say with confidence about the large selection of these products.

Consider the varieties of such protective panels, depending on the design features:

  • standard;
  • multifunctional;
  • end.

Standard models are the most common and are a plastic panel for which a frame of appropriate dimensions is selected. Multifunctional option differs from the standard one in that it has the ability to adjust the size of the screen for the bath (due to the legs). End panels are used to hide only a certain part of the bathroom.

Useful advice! Today you can find products equipped with various auxiliary elements that are necessary for convenience. Such products include panels with shelves, handles for people with limited mobility, as well as screens that include a hole for the legs.

Photos of bath screens can be easily found on the web, which greatly simplifies their selection.

Features of plastic models

Plastic shielding options are the most popular today. They are attractively priced and easy to install and operate. The service life of such panels can reach 10 years (provided proper care followed by). Plastic screens are resistant to moisture and do not rot over time.

The main advantage of panels made of this material is the variety color solutions. This is due to the ease of production of products from polymers. The functionality of these screens may also differ. In specialized stores, you can buy plastic bath screens with shelves, sliding, solid, removable, folding, etc.

If desired, you can perform shielding yourself. This will require an inexpensive polymer lining. This panel does not require additional facing works which has a positive impact on financial costs. To fix the plastic lining, it is necessary to mount a profile made of wood or metal.

The main disadvantage of plastic screens of any type is poor resistance to mechanical stress (shocks). When installing a plastic solid screen on your own, you need to take care of organizing a door for a bathtub for quick access to hidden communications. You can make a special door yourself or purchase it in a store.

Acrylic bath screens

A popular type of protective panels, which is often sold complete with acrylic bathtubs themselves. Such products are made of plastic material, which is subsequently processed with an acrylic layer. All of them are individually crafted. Therefore, experts do not recommend buying acrylic models separate from the baths, as found suitable option almost impossible.

Acrylic panels are only suitable for installation under baths made of the same material. In most cases, such panels are solid, however, other varieties can be found on sale. If it is not possible to purchase a suitable screen for a specific bathtub purchased earlier, it is recommended to buy a custom-made bathroom screen.

Note! Acrylic models have the same color as the bathtub, which allows general design look organic.

Of the advantages, it can also be noted that such panels fit snugly against the sides of the bowl. The frame and fixing elements for fixing the panel are supplied to customers complete with the screen itself.

Screens from MDF sheets and mirrors

MDF bath screen is most often used in classic design rooms, as they have a woody pattern. A wide range of colors and textures allows you to choose a product that fits any interior. MDF shielding looks stylish and expensive, which often attracts buyers. However, when buying such a screen, you need to pay attention to two important points:

  • products made from this material are only suitable for standard, rectangular bathtubs;
  • MDF screens are produced by pressing sawdust, so they are unstable to moisture. In order to solve this problem, it is necessary to choose a moisture-resistant material that is equipped with a protective film.

The demand for mirror models is quite simple to explain. Most modern bathrooms are small in size, and the mirror surface can visually increase the space of the room. Such panels also add a play of light. They can be mounted under different angles, as well as to equip special lighting (for example, neon).

In any case, the mirror screen looks very impressive. However, such panels are not without drawbacks, including: fragility and difficult maintenance. Drops of water and stains on the mirror surface are much more noticeable than on any others, so you will have to wipe them quite often.

You can make a screen from MDF with your own hands, which will be exactly the same as

Plasterboard bath screen

Panels made from drywall material, are affordable and affordable. Organizing drywall shielding is quite simple with your own hands. In most cases, after installing the drywall screen, it is veneered ceramic tiles.

Important! To shield the space under the bathroom, it is necessary to use a moisture-resistant type of drywall sheet.

Consider the process of installing screens under plasterboard bathtubs:

  1. First of all, you need to assemble the frame. The material for assembling the frame is a bar with dimensions of 40x40 mm. At this stage, fixing elements and metal corners are installed.
  2. Further, markings are applied to the walls and floor, which is needed for orientation during the installation process.
  3. After marking, the rails are mounted on it. Reiki are established both in a vertical, and in a horizontal plane.
  4. Next, a front panel is cut out of the drywall sheet, on which hinged hinges or latches are installed.
  5. The product is installed and an inspection hole is made in it.

Ceramic screens for bathrooms

Ceramic shielding allows you to organically decorate the plumbing unit. The main advantage of organizing a ceramic protective panel is that it looks as presentable as possible. Ceramic tile is the main finishing material when organizing drywall screens, as well as tongue-and-groove plates. Ceramic tiles are resistant to moisture, easy to clean, and resistant to mechanical stress.

Installing a screen under a tile bath is quite simple. For installation, you do not need to have special construction knowledge and skills.

  • first you need to take measurements (width and height of the opening under the bathroom);
  • ceramic tiles are laid from the upper left corner. Very important point is that the laying must be carried out strictly horizontally;
  • each individual tile element must be lubricated with tile adhesive;
  • alignment of the ceramic screen, consisting of tiles, is carried out using special crosses. Such crosses are inserted into the gaps between the tiles and form the same distance for all structural elements;
  • not only solid screens can be tiled.

Curtain for a bathtub made of curtain fabric

People who have a rigid bathtub panel installed constantly touch it with their feet. Bathtubs with such panels are inconvenient to wash. Using a curtain solves this problem.

Note! Such a non-standard solution is only suitable for rooms with good ventilation, since the curtain is not able to protect the pipes from moist air.

Before buying a bathtub protection panel, you need to pay attention to the following points:

  • before purchasing the panel, it is recommended to take measurements of the bathroom and the bowl;
  • the choice of product design depends on two factors: the financial capabilities of the buyer and the dimensions of the bathroom. For example, it is not recommended to purchase flip-down screen models for bathrooms, the dimensions of which are standard. For small spaces solid models are best suited;
  • a model with doors allows not only to protect communications, but also to organize a small warehouse for household chemicals and other items under the bathroom;

  • it is recommended to pay attention to the material from which the fittings for the panel are made. It is very important that the material has good resistance to corrosive influences;
  • the panel should be freely adjustable, so you need to check the legs before buying a product;
  • aluminum is considered the best material for the frame of the panel;
  • MDF bathroom screens are suitable for rooms equipped with good ventilation system. Otherwise, due to stagnant moisture, this material can quickly become unusable.

The design of the panel is selected depending on the individual preferences of the owners of the apartment. Assembling a bathroom screen with your own hands will save a lot of money.

How to make a do-it-yourself bath screen from drywall and tiles

Before you start self-assembling a solid panel, you must prepare the following tools and materials:

  • drywall;
  • building level;
  • facing tiles;
  • grout for facing tiles;
  • grinder, drill, screwdriver;
  • special sealant.

Plasterboard panel assembly is a common event. This is due to the availability of the material, financial benefits and ease of execution of the shield. Moisture-resistant drywall used for these purposes has good flexibility, which allows you to make a panel of non-standard shape.

How to make screens under the bathroom with your own hands? Consider the sequence of actions:

  1. Markup is done first. The markings must be applied to the walls and floor, which will eliminate installation errors in the future.

  1. At the second stage, it is necessary to form frame structure for the panel. The frame can be made from wooden slats or metal profiles. To assemble the frame, you need a drill and a screwdriver.
  2. After the frame is ready, it is necessary to sheathe it with plasterboard sheets. For this, special self-tapping screws for drywall are used.
  3. Next, it is necessary to fill all the seams and joints in the resulting structure with a hermetic composition.
  4. At this stage, the front part of the gypsum board is treated with a primer.
  5. At the end, the gypsum board is lined with ceramic tiles.

Useful advice! Experts recommend treating frame elements with protective compounds. This is necessary to improve the moisture-resistant qualities of the structure.

Thus, it is not difficult to assemble a panel for a drywall bathroom with your own hands. And the finished screen will greatly improve the appearance of the bathroom. If necessary, you can buy bath screens in a specialized store or on the Internet.

Installation of a plastic or acrylic screen on a bath

As a rule, instructions are attached to the panel, which must be studied before installing the screen under the bath. For structures that differ only in size, the assembly process will not have much difference. The main differences in this case come down to the fact that the legs for shields under a high bath have an additional margin of height (about 5 cm).

Consider step by step how to install a screen under the bath:

  1. Before starting the installation of this design, it is recommended to fill the bathtub with water.
  2. It is necessary to install special handles on the outer panel of the screen, which are mounted for ease of use of the structure.
  3. The legs are sold separately. They must be inserted into the holes that are located on the bottom side of the screen.
  4. Next, you need to get the panel under the side of the bath.
  5. After that, the structure must be fixed with the help of auxiliary components.

In some cases, the bathroom is different in that it has protruding communications or a plinth, the presence of which makes it difficult to completely cover the free space under the bathroom with a shield. How to install a screen under the bath in such a situation? It is best to measure the parameters of the protruding elements and make a hole corresponding to them in the screen. Then the screen will not bump into the protruding element of the plumbing unit. Of course, you can redo the bathroom, but this more labor-intensive and expensive event is not suitable for everyone.

How to install a screen on an acrylic bath?

To install the screen on an acrylic bath, you must adhere to the following work algorithm:

  1. First of all, you need to mark up on the side and the screen. The markup must match the fixation points.
  2. At the next stage, you need to attach the shield to the bath at a certain angle of 30–40 ° and bring its top between the side and the mount.
  3. Further, the previously marked places on the side and the shield are drilled under the screws.
  4. At the end of the hole, which must match, are fixed with self-tapping screws.

Screens for acrylic baths have good resistance to moisture, and also have a long shelf life. Experts recommend that you carefully study the instructions before installing such a protective panel. The instructions describe all the necessary nuances of installation.

Video of installing a screen on an acrylic bath

Modern acrylic bathtubs and pallets are often equipped with special aprons that hide the hard-hitting metal support structures and cover the empty space under the bowl. As for ordinary bathtubs, they are often sold without such devices, and, unless the plumbing is designer and has decorative legs, then the appearance of the bowl leaves much to be desired. Attractive bath screens can correct the situation. What you need to know when choosing a finished panel and how to assemble the structure yourself - read below.

The screen under the bath is a kind of apron, the main components of which are a frame made of steel or aluminum and waterproof panels. Behind such panels, you can easily hide household chemicals, personal hygiene products (this issue is especially acute in small rooms, the space of which does not allow many modules to be placed). Often, an acrylic bathtub is sold complete with a screen. Otherwise, the panel can be purchased separately or made independently.

Folding screens under the bath look stylish and modern, which, as a rule, are equipped with shelves for placing detergents. The disadvantage of such designs is that they require free space next to the bathroom.

Today, there are such types of screens: hinged, sliding, stationary. Designs are selected depending on the shape of the bath. So, for plumbing, which is close to the walls, a front screen is suitable, and for a curly structure or a bathtub with one open side, a corner acrylic shield. Often, screens are made with internal shelves and a retractable storage system.

Choosing bath doors

A popular option that allows you to effectively hide household chemicals and close the space under the bathroom are hinged doors: they make it easy and quick to get the necessary detergents, tools and any other household equipment, while looking attractive and stylish.

When choosing doors for a bath, you must adhere to the following recommendations:

  1. Doors must be made of moisture-resistant material (for example, PVC, plexiglass). If the screen trim is made of wood, then the wood must be marine (moisture resistant). Suitable teak, wenge, larch.
  2. Handles should be comfortable, made of stainless steel or plastic. The same goes for hinges and fasteners.
  3. Products should be selected according to the interior of the bathroom. This applies to both colors and materials. For example, for modern bathrooms perfect choice mirror screens will become, for rustic interiors - panels made of wooden planks.
  4. If the bathroom already has furniture (hanging cabinets, cabinets under the sink), then it is better that the doors are the same as those of the fittings or as similar as possible.

When choosing products, it should be borne in mind that the doors can be installed under bathtubs, next to which there are no other plumbing fixtures and Appliances, since nothing should interfere with the opening of the doors.

MDF bath screen: pros and cons

Bath doors can be made from almost any material. The main requirement is that it must be moisture resistant. At the same time, it is desirable that the surface of the panels be smooth: thus, dirt can be easily and quickly removed from it. One of the popular materials for making screens is MDF.

Wood fiber board has the following advantages:

  1. Environmental friendliness. Today, MDF boards are made by pressing without the use of binding fibers, so the material is absolutely safe for humans and the environment.
  2. Availability. Compared to plexiglass, MDF is much cheaper.
  3. Attractive appearance. Outwardly, the material resembles wood, which makes the interior cozy and remains relevant regardless of fashion trends.
  4. High density. This makes MDF resistant to hot steam and moisture.
  5. Wide range of design possibilities. Fiberboard panels can be made in any style and color.

The disadvantages of the material include its fire hazard: MDF boards are not recommended to be placed next to flammable objects, wiring. Also, MDF does not differ in one hundred percent moisture resistance: with extensive accumulation of moisture on the surface of the material, even installed on the frame, it is well fixed MDF board begins to roll under the weight of its own weight and deform.

Sliding bath panel

A sliding panel for a bathtub is a design that consists of a solid frame with guides or a roller mechanism and mobile doors. Panel shutters work on the principle of sliding doors, allowing you to quickly get what you need and get to communications.

Sliding screens can have two or three doors (depending on the length of the bathroom), be decorated with photo printing, mirrors, frosted glass. Some firms offer the production of panels to order: a beautiful screen will be an effective addition to the design of the room, emphasize the style of the interior.

Sliding bath doors are ideal for small bathrooms as they do not take up much space during operation.

The most affordable sliding panels for a bath are plastic. Plexiglas panels are considered the highest quality sliding screens: Plexiglas screens are 100% moisture resistant, have a smooth ride, and are made of quality materials, can be made in various colors, have a mirror surface.

How to make a sliding screen under the bath with your own hands

The easiest way to install a sliding screen with your own hands is to buy a ready-made set of doors. If there is no opportunity to purchase a set, then you can make the panels yourself. Most often, in order to make a homemade screen, plastic, aluminum profiles, corners and fasteners are used.

The process of installing a sliding panel involves:

  1. Drawing markings for the frame. The marking depends on the height and length of the bathtub, and is carried out using the building level. The starting point, in this case, is the side of the bath.
  2. Frame installation. aluminum profiles connected in parallel with corners.
  3. Installation of guides to the upper and lower frame.
  4. Cutting plastic and installing sheets in the grooves of the guides.

The valve can consist of two or more elements. For convenience, metal or plastic handles are attached to the panels.

We make a monolithic plasterboard bath screen

The easiest for self-manufacturing is a stationary bath screen, the main function of which is decorative (the panel will hide the space under the bathroom, but it will be impossible to store household chemicals behind it). To carry out the work you will need: drywall, guides with bearing profile, material for external finishing.

To make a monolithic screen you need:

  1. Make a markup for a profile for drywall. The top edge of the bathroom is taken as the starting point for marking. At the same time, during work it is necessary to use the building level.
  2. Install a frame from a metal profile (most often use a UD profile). For rigidity, not only the frame, but also the guides should be mounted.
  3. Cut the sheet to size and sheathe the frame. If the screen will be crossed by pipes, but in the material it is necessary to cut special holes for communications.
  4. Putty joints between sheets of drywall (if any).
  5. Trim drywall. The wired material can be decorated with tiles, tiles, wooden moisture-resistant panels, plastic.

In the same way, you can make a screen with a door. To do this, you will need to purchase an inspection hatch at a hardware store and cut a hole in the drywall sheet for its installation.

How to make a bath screen (video)

The modern production of bath screens offers a wide range of products, different in appearance, design, material of manufacture. Today, everyone can choose a panel depending on their own preferences, parameters and design of the bathroom, the shape of plumbing. In addition, you can easily make panels for the bath with your own hands. Install attractive and practical screens and enjoy the functionality and attractive look of your own bathroom!

Repair is a tricky business. When in the process the “hi-tech” style gradually turns into “hi-so” - this quote, popular among the people, shows that repair is indeed a rather complicated and lengthy process.

And if this fate has not befallen you, and you are still attentive to detail and strive to achieve harmony of your desires, capabilities and chosen design - this article is for you.

Consider the renovation of the bathroom, in which the bath itself occupies a dominant position. The bath screen is a special element in its decoration. You can buy it in almost any hardware store, BUT:

  • firstly, this thing is very expensive (if more or less high quality);
  • secondly, the manufacturer “stamps” mostly standard colors and shapes, and it’s not a fact that the proposed product will match your idea.

It is practical to choose sliding plastic screens, but their production is practiced only for rectangular bathtubs, corner ones are problematic to find. Installing them also takes a lot of time and effort. It is easier, more profitable and more aesthetically pleasing to make a bath screen with your own hands.

Step by step installation

The entire installation process can be divided into stages, which we will analyze separately.

Step one. The choice of material for installation work

The best option is plastic - it is moisture and wear-resistant, easy to use (in this particular case, the same plastic was used as on the ceiling, creating a unity of the image as a whole). In addition to the panels, you must purchase:

  • a starting strip of the same or a suitable color;
  • UD profile (not reinforced, ordinary) and fastening elements (dowels, screw nails);
  • "liquid Nails".

And also prepare the tool:

  • perforator;
  • screwdriver;
  • square;
  • construction stapler;
  • drywall knife.

Step two. Installation of a frame for a screen under a bath

The screen frame is modeled under corner bath to install plastic. A broken line is measured on the floor, repeating one to one the outlines of the bathtub bend - with the help of a level, points are transferred to the floor, a line is drawn by points. A profile is laid along the line. Why, at the place of the bend, it is cut along the side edge with metal scissors into segments of 10 cm. After that, we fasten: at a distance of 13-17 cm from each other. With a perforator, recesses are made in the profile and tiles already laid along the line, we drive them into drilled hole plastic (expansion) dowel, then we drive a screw into it with a small hammer (for reliable fixation).

Perform all these works very carefully, without using excessive force, so as not to damage the tiles on the floor.

Step three. Installation of the upper part of the bathroom screen frame

We attach wooden blocks to the inside of the hem of the bathtub (20 cm from each other). Why measure the thickness of the bar (about 7 long and 3x3 cm of height and thickness so that it enters the gap between the bathtub and the hem) and using " liquid nails» (apply on top and the sidewall of the bar adjacent to the hem) fasten and hold until fixed.

Fastening with screws is not possible, since the whole aesthetics will be violated on the front side of the bath.

The starting strip will be attached to them. To install it, it is enough to use construction stapler, although self-tapping with a flat press washer is much more reliable.

Step four. Installation of plastic panels

The distance is measured from the depth of the upper and lower mounted frame elements, the dimensions are transferred to the plastic (for right angle it is best to use a square), the desired length is cut with a drywall knife.

On the first strip, since it will be the last one against the wall, the starting strip is put on exactly the same length. On the inside the starting strip is applied with “liquid nails” glue and “driven” into the plastic (it is very easy to do this with a metal ruler, for which, under pressure, slightly “open” the strip, insert the plastic with a gentle force and pull out the ruler).

At the bottom, the strip can be safely fastened with metal screws to the profile (so that it remains behind the plastic, not on the front side), because. as a result, a plastic plinth will be installed below, matched to the color of the floor tiles.

Fix the plastic at the top with staples (a stapler is used), but you can also put it on glue.

The remaining strips are installed and fastened in the same way.

Be sure to pay attention that there are no gaps left at the joints between the strips.

Step five. Installing the last panel

The last stage is difficult, but doable. Measure the remaining width of the strip needed to complete our screen, transfer to plastic and cut with a drywall knife. In place of the cut, put on the starting strip, which will be adjacent to the wall, insert the resulting structure from above into the side groove of the previous strip, carefully move it down and “drive” it into the upper starting strip using the same metal ruler.

At the very end, it is necessary to attach a plinth along the contour (fortunately, it is plastic and bends well). And voila - your perfect bath screen is ready: bathe and enjoy!

We hope that this material will help you make a bath screen with your own hands without any problems under the right dimensions and form.

Reading time ≈ 4 minutes

In order for the bathroom to take on its finished look, a special screen will need to be installed around it to hide plumbing fixtures. If you manage to mount a reliable screen under the bath with your own hands, then in this way you can save significant money. Moreover, there are no difficulties in such work.

Screen material selection

Many people do not understand how such a screen is made under the bath with my own hands, because they have no idea what material it can be made from. In fact, there are a large number of different building materials that can be used in such a room with too high humidity. If you look at the proposed photographs of a do-it-yourself screen for a bathtub, this will make it possible to see that the following materials can be used for such work:

  1. Very convenient for this purpose is moisture resistant drywall; it can be finished later with tiles, plaster or wallpaper.
  2. It can be sheathed with moisture-resistant MDF boards, also covered with trim.
  3. PVC panels are suitable for this.
  4. You can use a sliding screen installed under the bath or with drop-down doors.

If we consider all these options, then only a bath screen made of PVC panels will not require special finishing in the future. This material is very convenient to use because it is practical, completely moisture resistant and easy to clean. In addition, it is also durable, and if you need to make repairs to the screen, you can change one or more strips of plastic.

Requirements

When the desire has matured to solve the urgent question of how to make a beautiful screen for a bath, you should first understand what requirements should be placed on it.

  • Access at any time to sewer units, the screen must have an opening opening or doors.
  • The connection of the floor with the screen in certain cases must be sealed so that moisture does not enter under the bath.
  • The screen must not be load-bearing structure, so it is advisable to make sure that the bath cannot lean on it.

If you make a high-quality bath screen using moisture-resistant drywall or PVC panels, then you can leave free space under it so that it cannot interfere with your feet. But in this case, this gap should be at least 10 cm, so that emerging moisture can be wiped out under the bathtub.

Screen mounting

You can watch the video correct installation bath screen; only this will make it possible to understand how to make it and what materials will be required for this. Consider the option of drywall and PVC panels. To do this, you first need to install a reliable frame. As a frame for the screen, it is quite possible to use both wooden beam 30x30 or 40x40 mm, also a metal profile.

So that subsequently rot does not appear on the beam and a fungus does not appear, the wood must first be treated with a special antiseptic.

But when installing the frame, if drywall is used, one should take into account not only its thickness, but also the material for the subsequent screen finishing.

In order not to be mistaken, it is necessary to make markings both on the floor and on the wall before installing the frame. And only after the frame is made, is the final stage in the form of attaching the screen under the bath, where you can use drywall, plastic or other material.

Even minor, at first glance, details in the interior will help to make the appearance of any room complete, unique. And the same little things can completely spoil our impression. sliding screen under the bath with your own hands a useful thing that can solve many small problems that spoil the mood.

Screen design

These structures are also different. Products are produced standard length: 1.5 or 1.7 meters. The height indicator is in the range of 560, 550, 506 millimeters. The product has special legs that allow you to adjust this characteristic.

  1. End screens - cover the corresponding part in the bathroom.
  2. Varieties where there are no end frames.
  3. Universal models. Plastic panels are enclosed in an aluminum frame. The length of the frame itself can be reduced if customers have such a desire. Thanks to this, an easier do-it-yourself installation of a structure becomes easier where sewer pipes pass.
  4. Normal look. Plastic panels are enclosed inside the frame, the performers try to adhere to certain sizes.

About MDF structures

Most often, modern buyers make a choice in favor of plastic, but this does not mean that the choice is only limited to them. One of the most common materials is MDF board, which can resist even moisture in large quantities.

The material, at its core, is a type of fiberboard with average density. It is created using pressing technology when supported high temperature, pressure.

Compared to plastic, these models are more expensive. But on the other hand, the appearance can also be called more massive, impressive. It is best to choose the color and material so that they match the decor that is already present in the room.

Screens made of plastic and MDF are not moved apart by the same mechanisms. MDF products simply open inward, which is very reminiscent of ordinary furniture facades.

Differs in MDF and higher resistance to mechanical loads.

Such products are most often produced immediately complete with the bathrooms themselves.

For each model, a truly unique jewelry is developed that has a certain set of characteristics.

How can you do everything yourself?

From the very beginning, we need to understand the requirements that any sliding bath screen must meet.

  1. There should not be any support on this part near the bath itself. The product cannot play the role of a supporting structure.
  2. Near the screen, you will definitely need to take care of high-quality floor sealing.
  3. There must be a technical opening that allows, if necessary, access to all communications. To hide this part, it is allowed to use small doors or plugs.

Working with brick

It is necessary to lay it between the walls where the bath itself is located. The main thing is to withstand the thickness, it should be equal to half the brick. It is by this value that it is necessary to shift all subsequent rows. It remains only to change everything depending on the specified parameters.

It is important to make a special window where the drain will take place. In the future, just a door is attached there. small size. The bath should not be leaned even on brick screens, this is one of the most important rules. Between the last row of bricks and the bathroom itself, you will need to create a small gap. Usually it is no more than 1-2 millimeters, then it is covered mounting foam. After that, the brickwork is sheathed.

What about drywall?

One of the best decisions. A timber beam or a metal profile is perfect for forming the main frame. True, if the choice is made specifically in favor of wood, it will be necessary to process the material with the help of soil. Otherwise, it will not be possible to completely protect yourself from mold and rot.

The frame requires a small recess, this should be taken into account separately when creating it with your own hands. The face material will then be on top of the skin. As for the thickness, it should be the same as that of this future skin. By this amount, it is necessary to deepen the entire structure later. Correction will help to carry out a plumb line.

What other work can be done?

The UD profile is fixed along the outlined line. To prevent water from getting under the bath, it is necessary lower part structures with sealant.

CD - profile, which in any case must maintain a vertical position. Fastening takes place on the base profile. Between them you need to leave a certain distance, not less than 600 millimeters. Where the technological hole will be located, it is worth installing additional racks. It is better to provide a protrusion for the legs in the center.

The installation of the profile is carried out in the form of the letter P. It must be deepened under the bath, only 10 centimeters.

A moisture-resistant variety of drywall is best suited for finishing screen sheathing. The main thing is to observe the width and height of the structure, make a small margin of 2 cm.

Self-tapping screws are used when fastening along the perimeter and in the center of the profile, while it is important to observe a step of 15 cm. It is important to monitor the self-tapping screws, if handled carelessly, they can damage the bath. It is recommended to retreat 1 cm from the edge and the floor, then the drywall will not swell. This material is water resistant, but constant contact with moisture can be dangerous for him.

Tiles and foil can be used for priming finished surface. This is one of the last stages of work. Suitable and decorative plaster, many prefer washing wallpaper.

Are there other options available?

Working with drywall partitions is very similar to what can and should be done with OSB, MDF. The only difference is that in the latter case inside the screen it is necessary additional window, which will be responsible for ventilation. The main thing is that it should be located on the opposite side from the place where the technical hole will be located.

Length - within 5-10 centimeters, width - about 2-3. A plastic grill will help cover everything. Sheets must be covered on both sides MDF primer. And this must be done before the final fixing on the frame.

What features of the installation should you be aware of?

The screen fixture is easily mounted directly on the sides of the bath if it is acrylic. But this is unacceptable if you need to do everything under a cast iron bath. Otherwise, the enamel surface will deteriorate.

The complexity of installation usually depends on how complex design the screen itself. Installation of a guide profile in the shape of the letter Ш is a mandatory requirement if a product with sliding doors is selected. After that, you need to cut out the details, which will be the doors in the future. One door must be larger than the other. Only after that they are installed in the guide profile.

Fasteners for the screen under the cast-iron bath DO NOT mount on the sides of the bath itself

What about drywall construction?

The first step is to assemble a frame that matches the dimensions we need. You can not do without wooden bars 40 by 40 millimeters, screws and metal corners.

  1. First important step becomes markup. A plumb bob is used to apply to the surface right amount points. Then they are connected in single lines, usually going to the floor from the corners of the bath. There should be two such lines.
  2. It is necessary to retreat 2.5 cm from each of the drawn lines. And draw one more parallel to the previous ones. But they will move inside the bath. Points for drawing lines on the floor are marked in much the same way as they are used. We get 4 lines.
  3. The plumb line must be applied to outside corner baths, which is not adjacent to them. After that, another point is placed on the floor. This is the top of a square whose side is 2.5 centimeters. It is turned inside the bath.
  4. Several lines will need to be drawn from the corner of the square facing the bath. They are connected to those lines that were described in paragraph two.
  • For the vertical sides of the square, you will need four of them. The length will be equal to the distance from the floor to the lower edge of the side of the bath.
  • On the shorter side of the bathtub, two are needed for the frame.
  • Finally, on one long side, you will need two parts.
  • Several rails in the vertical plane will be needed if the bath has a large length.

After that, finally, you can go to the framework itself.

  1. Four short bars need to be interconnected using metal corners. Do-it-yourself screws are required for fastening. Between the vertical rails it will be necessary to place parts with a horizontal position. Reverse order actions are not allowed.
  2. You need to drill two holes in the rail that is attached to the wall
  3. The frame should be on the wall, on the small side of the tub. Depending on the material from which the frame is made, select the appropriate fasteners.
  4. The long frame is mounted in the same way. It is attached to the second wall.
  5. If additional vertical slats were prepared from the very beginning, then first they are attached to the frame, and then you can go further.
  6. To connect both structures, screws will be needed. The fabrication of the frame can be considered complete.

Installation of a curved frame

The general principle is about the same as described above. But it is not without its nuances.

  • Profiles for drywall - the basis for the manufacture of the frame; first you need to make cuts, only then give the necessary shape;
  • There should be 2 such curvilinear profiles in total. They are fixed with ordinary self-tapping screws. Next, you can go to the vertical slats, they will strengthen the frame.
  • He himself should be on some recess from the side.
  • Only after the installation of the frame does the installation of the screen itself begin.

A little about sliding and removable options

Most often, acrylic bathtubs are equipped with removable screens. The latter are sometimes made of the same material, come as a set, in ready-made. These products are attractive appearance perfect for bathtubs. But they do not allow to fully use all the free space.

Choosing a plastic sliding screen for the bath

The design with external open shelves is one of the varieties of this model. Plastic is used for its manufacture, it is a convenient and practical option.

The material is also used in production. finished structures. You can always choose an option that will have an end insert. The main thing is to purchase a model that clearly and accurately matches the size of the bath. Exact fit in place will have to be done in any case.

For deaf structures, brick will be the best material. In the future, it is easy for him to make a lining. But in any case, it is important to provide for the presence of a technological opening so that there is always access to the main technological communications. The main thing is that even this detail should not stand out against the general background, fit into the existing interior. Other materials can be used, but this design is often quite complex.
