Gas boilers with underfloor heating function. Efficient boiler for water underfloor heating The best gas boiler for underfloor heating

For a warm water floor, the temperature of the coolant should not be too high. But the circulation must be ensured constantly. The heated floor cannot be heated by a one-time injection of hot liquid. Normal hydraulics with a mixing unit will take energy from the hot coolant from the heating system little by little.

Therefore, a boiler for a warm floor must work constantly, measuredly, and it is desirable that it produces a stable temperature of the coolant. It is even better if this heat generator will constantly give out 35 - 50 degrees.

Obviously, some types of boilers do not go well with underfloor heating systems. What are these models, can they be improved?

Solid fuel boilers are not the best choice for underfloor heating

A conventional solid fuel boiler produces an unstable temperature, works in cycles. During the period of maximum combustion, it is possible that the temperature of the coolant will rise to 90 degrees.

When attenuated, it will quickly drop to 40 degrees. During such a cycle, the stem of the three-way valve and the thermal head of the mixing unit will be in two extreme positions, and flaws in the adjustment are possible.

For 3-5 hours, when the temperature was above 40 degrees, the heavy screed simply will not have time to warm up and will warm up in the next furnace cycles. Therefore, the real heat transfer from the warm floor is likely to be lower than planned.

Heat storage and advanced models

Then, with a powerful boiler, it will be possible to heat it once a day, which will significantly increase the comfort of your stay. And the warm floor will work stably and correctly, without overloading the equipment.

There are automated pellet machines, but they are expensive in themselves and fuel for them is more expensive than ordinary coal and firewood. But with them it is possible to use underfloor heating without problems ...

T. n. pyrolysis boilers are very suspicious; eminent manufacturers do not classify them as reliable and useful equipment, and do not produce them.

Typical options are automated gas and electric

The technical concept of "underfloor heating boiler" does not exist. Any heat generator can heat this system.

However, underfloor heating will perform better with automated system heating, which is usually formed on the basis of heat generators - wall gas and electric.

Where there is main gas, of course, nothing else is heated, and the choice falls on wall-mounted gas automated boilers, suitable for the "normal" area of apartments and houses, or floor-standing boilers for large buildings.

But in terms of comfort, electric boilers are even better - they make less noise, there are no emissions, there are no difficulties in maintenance.

True, electricity is the most expensive form of energy. But only daytime. If there is an opportunity to issue a night rate, then this should be used. And use a heat generator, again, with a buffer tank, which needs to be charged at night. Moreover, night electricity, perhaps, is the leader in terms of the ratio of comfort and price, if there is no gas, of course.

Automated gas and electric boilers are characterized by stable operation - just what you need for a water heated floor.

The best solution to the question

Condensing boilers appeared relatively recently, and immediately began to be widely used, especially in Europe. The reason is increased energy savings. Their purpose is to work with a warm floor, since at the exit they give a temperature of 40 -50 degrees.

Block diagram of the inclusion of a warm floor without a mixing unit.

In our country, the proliferation of condensing boilers, which have an efficiency of more than 100%, is held back by their high cost and low price energy carriers.

Features of the condensing option

Moreover, "efficiency is more than 100%" is not a slip of the tongue, but a technical fact, since the heat of combustion is calculated according to the usual method, without taking into account the energy contained in the water vapor, which is formed during combustion.

And if this vapor passes back into water, which happens at +55 degrees, then additional energy is released. In total, it gives off more energy than is released during normal combustion of fuel, as was commonly believed.

No mixing unit is needed here, only overheating protection. But the area of the radiators, in order to obtain normal heat transfer, needs to be increased almost 2 times, at least 1.5 times, since instead of the usual 70 degrees, now we get 45 degrees.

Should I use a condensing boiler

Experts say that it will give 10% energy savings when working on radiators and up to 20% - 25% when working on warm floors, depending on the height of the ceiling and insulation. (…. In comparison with a conventional gas boiler (efficiency 97%) and with a conventional radiator network.)

And these are very significant numbers. However, our low gas cost makes them unimportant. In Europe, at the normative level, they already require the installation of only condensing boilers….

When creating heating in a private house, all experts recommend using progressive and comfortable heating schemes - using a warm floor as the main system and a radiator as an additional one. And also use a condensing boiler, if possible, or other equipment for available energy sources ....

For a comfortable and cozy environment in an apartment, you need to maintain an optimal temperature regime.

District heating is often not enough for this.

An alternative can be a warm floor with a heating boiler.

Water heat-insulated floor

One of the most efficient and popular heating systems is a water-heated floor. It is a coil located under the floor screed and connected to closed loop led by a boiler. The circulation of the coolant through the coil is carried out by a pump.

The peculiarity of a water-heated floor is that it does not require a heat carrier with a high temperature, 40-45 ° C is enough. However, due to large area heat exchange, air heating is carried out evenly and efficiently. After all, the coils are located at the lowest point of the room, just where the cold air accumulates.

Boilers for underfloor heating

In the process of arranging an autonomous heating system, the question of choosing a boiler will arise. Boilers are classified by the type of fuel they burn: solid (coal, firewood, pellets), liquid (diesel fuel, kerosene, waste oil, fuel oil), gaseous ( natural gas, propane).

The most convenient, efficient and unpretentious units are:

  • Electric boiler for underfloor heating.
  • Gas boiler for underfloor heating on natural gas.

Electric boiler for underfloor heating

Electric boilers- these are units that heat the coolant due to electrical energy... They are very effective, their ratio useful action(Efficiency) reaches 99%. Despite this, their operation requires large financial costs, since electricity is more expensive than any fuel and gas in particular.

The advantages of an electric boiler:

  • high efficiency;
  • Fire safety;
  • lack of combustion products;
  • ease of installation work;
  • the possibility of complex programming and remote control;
  • no need for a separate room.

Flaws:

  • high cost of electricity.
  • volatility.

It is advisable to use an electric boiler for a warm water floor to heat small areas with good thermal insulation, then their operation will be more economical and cost-effective.

Often, electric boilers are installed as backup equipment in case of failure of the main one.

Choosing an electric boiler

A boiler for a warm water floor must ensure uninterrupted and efficient heating premises in automatic mode... Therefore, the choice of the unit is based on several main characteristics:

  1. Thermal power of the unit - it should be enough for the area of the room.
  2. Boiler operation automation level (programmable temperature regime, overheating protection, etc.).
  3. The level of protection against air humidity.
  4. Connection to 220 or 380 V.
  5. Boiler design and control module convenience.
  6. Manufacturer.

Major boiler manufacturers:

  1. RISNIT - Russia.
  2. Ferroli - Italy.
  3. Dacon - Czech Republic.
  4. Eleko - Slovakia.
  5. Protherm - Slovakia.
  6. Viesmann - Germany.

If the boiler will be located in a small apartment, then it is best to choose a silent model.

Gas boilers for underfloor heating

A gas boiler is a unit that heats a coolant by burning gas. Heating system on gas is one of the most efficient and economical types, because gas is a fairly cheap fuel.

Advantages of gas boilers:

  • cheap fuel;
  • high level of automation;
  • when gas is burned, less is emitted harmful substances for environment compared to other fuels;
  • some models of gas boilers can be completely non-volatile;
  • high efficiency.

Disadvantages of gas boilers:

  • The gas is flammable.
  • The need to equip a system for removing combustion products outside the premises.
  • The need to install additional equipment (gas analyzers, gas pressure sensors, etc.).
  • The high cost of equipment compared to electrical or solid fuel units.
  • To the installation room gas boiler strict requirements are imposed (room volume, ventilation, communications, decoration, etc.).

The use of a gas boiler for a heating system with underfloor heating

A gas heating unit is used as the main heat source for heating the coolant. However, the use of such a unit becomes unprofitable if the heated area is less than 90 square meters.

The use of gas boilers in apartments is allowed, however, the installation process is somewhat difficult due to the arrangement of the chimney. Therefore, they are mainly used for heating private houses.

Choosing a gas boiler for underfloor heating

As mentioned earlier, the temperature of the coolant for a warm floor should be lower than usual. But in traditional boilers it is necessary to maintain the "return" temperature within certain limits set by the manufacturer.

This creates inconvenience during operation, since the heating area of warm floors is large enough and the coolant cools down significantly.

The problem of maintaining the temperature disappeared when creating modernized units - condensing gas boilers. Their efficiency increases several times compared to traditional counterparts, and most importantly, the "return" temperature should be as low as possible, which is well combined with the operation of underfloor heating.

What else to look for when choosing a gas boiler for underfloor heating:

  1. Heat output of the unit (depends on the heated area).
  2. Combustion chamber type (open, closed).
  3. Installation type (floor, wall).
  4. Dependence on electricity.
  5. The level of automation, the possibility of complex programming and remote control.
  6. Unit design.
  7. Manufacturer.

The calculation of the power of the heating unit is carried out by calculating the heat losses of the room, taking into account the area of the walls, ceilings, windows and doors. You can use the following formula: 2 kW of unit power per 1 m. Of the room area, if the ceiling height is 2.5 m.

The leading manufacturer of gas boilers for water floors is Viessman, whose boilers are distinguished by their durability and quality. The products of the Buderus company also deserve attention.

For underfloor heating small apartment an electric boiler or a gas condensing boiler will do. If it is not possible to mount a chimney, you should stop at the electric version.

A comfortable home environment is not only Beautiful design premises and cozy furniture. It's also warm. And to provide full heating of premises, especially in a private house, it is the warm floor that will help. However, it is not always possible to equip electric heating, and people often stop at the water heating system. Moreover, if there is no option to connect it to a centralized heating system, it is necessary to install an electric boiler for a warm floor. It remains only to decide which model to choose and how to install it.

Features of underfloor heating without radiators, floor heating boilers

Underfloor heating is very often thought about in winter period years, when you so want to move around the premises barefoot, but the flooring is so cold that this is not possible. An option to make it more pleasant and tactile is to install the underfloor heating system.

Exists different systems floor heating - water, electric, infrared. And often the owners of apartments and houses make a choice in favor of the first option. The system will consist of main pipes through which the coolant circulates - hot water, as well as a boiler that heats this water.

On a note! In new buildings, floor heating can often be connected to the system central heating- it will have special outlets for connecting pipes of the heating system. But in private houses, as well as in apartments of the old stock, it is impossible to connect to heating, so there are two options here - using other heating systems or installing a water heating boiler.

The boiler is often used to heat various premises - apartments and garages, houses and offices. This reliable device has acceptable dimensions and is not dangerous for use in a residential area. It also has a very convenient temperature control system, which will allow you to control the indoor climate. This will make it possible to leave the unit turned on unattended for a long period of time.

On a note! The boiler belongs to autonomous system heating, it will save a lot Money, which will be spent on the usual additional heating of the room.

However, experts do not recommend using only an underfloor heating system for heating a room without heating radiators. The fact is that in order to warm up the house to a comfortable temperature, you will have to warm up the floors to at least +30 degrees, and this can negatively affect flooring, it will also be unpleasant for a person - it is hot to move on such floors. Also, due to radiators, the air in the room can be warmed up much faster than a system of underfloor heating. The latter take longer to warm up even on their own due to the fact that they are closed with a screed, which also needs to be warmed up.

On a note! Only electric boilers can work efficiently and economically at low power. Everyone else will burn too much fuel to keep the temperature low, which is unprofitable.

An electric boiler is the comfort of your home

That is why the underfloor heating system should only heat the floor surface, the rest of the room should be heated by radiators. And, nevertheless, for the correct and economical operation of the equipment, it is worth purchasing a heating boiler.

Types of boilers for underfloor heating

There are several types of boilers for heating the coolant, that is, water. They differ in the peculiarities of work, installation and operation, as well as the type of fuel due to which they function.

Table. Types of heating boilers.

A typegeneral information

Such boilers only heat the coolant (in our case, water). In order for them to be used for something else, it is necessary to purchase boilers, heat exchangers, etc.

Boilers of this type can be used for heating water and for heating purposes. Heating in such a unit is possible due to the presence of a heat exchanger or boiler already directly in the device itself.

Also, boilers can be divided into two categories according to the place of installation. They are wall-mounted, floor-mounted. Floorstands tend to have more power than pendant ones. But the latter are much more convenient in terms of installation and less expensive to maintain.

Diesel boilers

In this case, ordinary diesel fuel acts as fuel. These units are productive and very efficient, differ in absolute autonomy, that is, they do not depend on whether they are connected to any communications (gas, electrical networks etc.). They are easy to install, easy to operate and have high efficiency rates with low fuel consumption.

diesel boilers heating

Solid fuel boilers

The fuel for these units is wood and fuel pellets. The principle of operation is similar to burning wood in a conventional stove. But in this case, combustion occurs when high temperatures(from +250 degrees) and without air access. Heating of the coolant occurs due to the release of hot smoke during fuel combustion.

In residential premises, such boilers are rarely used, the usual scope of their use is production, Agriculture... These units in the house require constant attention, as well as fuel loading, which complicates the operation.

On a note! If the boiler has a chamber where fuel burns, closed type then it can be installed anywhere. For equipment with a camera open type it is necessary to look for a separate installation room in the house.

solid fuel heating boilers

Gas boilers

It is not hard to guess that this type of boiler is gas powered. The body of these devices is usually made of cast iron or steel, which will determine the service life and ease of installation. Steel boilers are much lighter than cast iron ones, they have small dimensions and are easy to repair. However, their service life is lower. That is why cast iron units are more expensive, as they are distinguished by increased reliability indicators. The devices can operate both on main gas and on liquefied gas from cylinders. They are quite economical, and for heating only floors, you can take a low-power installation.

These boilers are not recommended for connection to the underfloor heating system. The reason is simple - they, of course, are able to maintain the water temperature at low rates (about +45 degrees), but in fact they are designed to heat the coolant at least +80 degrees. Because of this, the efficiency of the boiler will drop very much (up to 15%).

But still there is an option for using a gas boiler to work with a floor heating system. To do this, you will have to use a mixing unit equipped with a special distributor and a circulation pump. However, this will also increase the cost of purchasing equipment and installing it.

On a note! By the way, the same applies to other types of boilers, with the exception of electrical units.

Electric boilers

These units working on electric current, can be used in all areas and are best suited for connection to underfloor heating systems. Connecting this boiler is simple, despite the seeming complexity. Such units will make it possible to organize low-temperature heating - such as is needed for a warm floor - due to the possibility of adjusting the temperature of the outgoing heat carrier flow.

On a note! The higher the thermal insulation values in the room, the less power you will have to purchase a boiler.

In the photo - an electric heating boiler

How to calculate the boiler output for hot water heating?

You need to calculate the power in order to choose a unit that is suitable for floor heating. This indicator depends on many factors, but it is quite simple to calculate it approximately, based on the fact that only 1 kW of unit power will be required to heat 10 m 2 of the area of a brick and well-insulated house with a ceiling height of up to 3 m. Thus, the specific power will be equal to 100 W / m 2.

On average, the temperature of the coolant should be about +70 degrees, in this case it is necessary to increase the boiler power by about 20%. Also, an increase in this indicator should be carried out with any additional load on the unit. That is, if a storage boiler is also used, then about 30% more should be added to the power. If the underfloor heating system acts as a supplement to radiator heating, then its heat transfer will be no more than 50 W / m 2.

Advice! If in the future the areas of heated rooms are increased, then the boiler must be installed with a capacity that will allow heating the outbuildings.

Boiler selection criteria

Unfortunately, there are no specially designed boilers to which the underfloor heating system can be connected. There are, of course, models in the technical data sheets of which it is indicated that they can work in this mode, but in general this is only one of the functions of the equipment.

The choice of floor heating equipment should be made according to several criteria:

  • the ability to adjust the heating of the coolant and floors;
  • unit power;
  • Type of fuel;
  • compatibility with the underfloor heating system;
  • high efficiency;
  • ease of use, repair, maintenance;
  • safety system;
  • manufacturer;
  • ease of installation.

Everyone should choose the fuel that will be the most profitable. In some regions, heating is cheapest with electricity, in others with gas.

One of critical parameters the choice of a heating boiler is the ability to connect it to the floor heating system. This is necessary in order to be able to set the temperature of the coolant that will circulate without sacrificing equipment and budget. On the supply line, the heating system should give out only + 35-45 degrees, and on the return line - about +25.

On a note! If the house is heated by radiators connected to the boiler, from which the underfloor heating system also departs, then it will be easier to choose the unit. If the rooms are not heated by the boiler, then it is important to choose the model that will allow you to install low temperature underfloor heating.

It is also important to evaluate the area of the room in which the underfloor heating system will be installed, the materials from which it is made finishing, as well as the parameters of the screed.

What boilers can be combined with a warm floor?

Most the best way a boiler for underfloor heating is an electric boiler. Moreover, regardless of whether it is a heating element, induction or electrode. It has optimum efficiency even at low power levels. V small house such equipment can be connected directly to the underfloor heating system. V large rooms it is better to make the connection using a special distribution and mixing unit.

The boiler works automatically and practically does not need human control. It is easy to install and easy to maintain.

You can also use condensate gas boilers, which can work effectively with low heating of the coolant. But conventional gas units require the installation of a mixing unit, in which control elements will be provided. This is a great option for combining radiator heating and underfloor heating systems.

Solid fuel and liquid fuel boilers are not the best option, although they can also be used to organize a floor heating system. They require the installation of a mixing unit with thermometers, controllers and other additional equipment... Yes, and it is very difficult to debug the desired temperature with their help - either they give out too hot a coolant, then too cold.

Advice! To cope with this, a heat storage device should be purchased and installed. But this is not a cheap device.

Which brand is the best

An important factor when choosing a boiler will be the brand under which the equipment is manufactured. There are quite a few manufacturers who supply heating boilers to the market. Let's get acquainted with the main and most popular of them, as well as with the brands of boilers and their cost. The emphasis will be on electric boilers, since they are the best option.

Table. Boiler manufacturers, equipment characteristics and cost.

This article will focus on a boiler for a warm water floor - gas, electric and solid fuel. We will consider their advantages and disadvantages, as well as how to choose and install (installation) correctly.

Today, water underfloor heating is a very popular form of heating a residential building. Such a dwelling heating system has a lot of advantages: low energy consumption, the ability to control the temperature, etc. In order for a water-heated floor to work with maximum productivity, you need to correctly choose a boiler for. The main criteria that should be followed when choosing a boiler are efficiency, ease of use, heating cost, as well as the degree of installation complexity and connection requirements.

Arrangement of the heating system

For such a system heating, you can choose a boiler that runs on any fuel. However, the unit must match one important condition: its control system must be automatic.

Boilers are classified according to the type of fuel on which they operate: solid fuel (, wood,), gas (gas), electric (electricity), liquid fuel (diesel fuel, waste oil).

The most profitable and productive for a warm hollow are:

  • electric boilers;
  • gas boilers.

Electric boiler for underfloor heating

An electric boiler is a device that heats a coolant using electricity. The work of such units is productive and efficient. The efficiency can reach 99%.

Electric boiler operation diagram

But despite the high efficiency and productivity of electric boilers, their use involves high costs, since electricity is an expensive fuel.

An electric heating boiler is constructed from a tank in which the coolant and heating elements are located. In addition, the unit is equipped with security team consisting of a pressure sensor and safety valve... The boiler has a pump that circulates the coolant, an air outlet and an expansion tank.

The principle of water heating for warm water floors is based on the following: water enters the boiler and begins to warm up. When the required temperature is reached, the heat carrier moves towards the warm water floor.

The principle of operation of electric boilers of floor and wall design is identical.

Advantages and disadvantages

Let's note the main advantages and disadvantages of using electric boilers for underfloor heating:

  • high efficiency;
  • reliability;
  • lack of combustion products;
  • autonomy of work, the presence of a person is not assumed;
  • difficulties with installation and further use usually do not arise.

A number of difficulties may arise with connecting the boiler to the network, since it will need to be wired separately.

Flaws:

  • volatility;
  • high price of electricity.

An electric unit for a warm water floor is more suitable for rooms that are not very large in size and with good thermal insulation, then their operation will be as economical as possible.

Installation and selection

Underfloor heating and an electric boiler are easy to connect. Working temperature many models start from 25 °, so strapping does not imply high costs. It will only be necessary to acquire it, and then only in the situation when several circuits will be connected to one boiler. As already noted, there are no combustion products in the operation of such units, so you can install an electric boiler anywhere in your home.

When choosing an electric boiler for a warm water floor, you need to be guided by such criteria as:

  • power: performance heating device(calculated according to the size of the heated room);
  • protection from air humidity;
  • the degree of automation of the boiler;
  • connection to a 220 V or 380 V network;
  • design;
  • manufacturer.

Connection diagram of the boiler and warm water floor

Here are some manufacturers of electric boilers.

Gas boiler for underfloor heating

A gas boiler is a device that heats a coolant by burning gas. Since gas is a fuel available and inexpensive, the "warm water floor" heating system connected to a gas boiler is very profitable and efficient.

It can be installed in gas boilers. In units with closed chamber combustion - forced ventilation, and this option has a rather complex structure.

An example of a gas boiler device Protherm Panther KTV

They also differ in the presence of a heat exchanger. If you intend to use a boiler for heating water, then a heat exchanger must be built into it.

If the device is not equipped, then the water is heated by the same chamber as the heat carrier for floor heating. Consider the principle of operation of such a unit:

  1. Cold water moves along the lower right pipe, there is also security group.
  2. Then posted circulation pump , the expansion tank tube is located in front of it.
  3. There is a temperature sensor on the tube.
  4. Then the coolant moves to heating element and gets into heating system warm water floor.

In the center of the boiler there is a gas valve with its own safety block, which controls the flame, gas pressure, flue gases.

Advantages and disadvantages

The heating system, like a warm water floor from a gas boiler, has advantages:

  • cheap fuel;
  • high efficiency;
  • automated control system;
  • environmental friendliness.

For the normal functioning of a traditional gas boiler, the temperature must be at least 60 °, while for a condensing gas boiler, no higher than 40 °.

  • it is necessary to equip the system of exhausting combustion products outside the premises;
  • the equipment itself is expensive;
  • the boiler must be equipped with auxiliary elements: gas analyzers, gas pressure sensors;
  • fire hazard.

Installation and selection

Installation of a gas boiler for underfloor heating is quite simple:

  1. Install between the supply and return pipelines.
  2. If the circulation is carried out at a low speed, then the water will stratify in temperature, and it will not be difficult to take the supply for the warm floor from the cold part, and hot water, in turn, will enter the boiler.
  3. Having carried out the installation of a simple thermal control circuit, it will be easy to find out the arbitrary temperature of the coolant, which is practically not tied to the return flow in the boiler.

If in your house you decide to use a gas boiler for a warm floor, then choosing such a unit, you should pay attention to the following indicators:

  • combustion chamber type: open / closed;
  • mounting type: wall / floor;
  • power;
  • design;
  • manufacturer.

The leader among the manufacturers of gas boilers for water floors is Viessman. The products of this company are characterized by strength, durability and high quality... Also, the equipment of the Buderus company has positive reviews.

Solid fuel boiler for underfloor heating

Solid fuel boilers in their operation need constant attention and maintenance, and there are especially many difficulties in compatibility with a warm floor. The exceptions are, but they still require more attention compared to boilers operating on gas and electricity.

In the work of solid fuel heating appliances many difficulties arise:

  1. A special place is required near the boiler for storing fuel.
  2. The boiler should be melted at least once a day.
  3. The chimney must be cleaned regularly.

To connect a solid fuel boiler, you need to install three-way valves. Their number should be equal to the number of contours. Thanks to the mixing unit that these valves form, the heated water will cool down.

Solid fuel boiler with heat storage

When connecting a solid fuel boiler to a water floor, it is imperative to take into account that water enters the pipes under the action of a pump that operates from the mains. If a power outage occurs, the movement of the coolant will be stopped, but since the boiler will continue to function, the water will begin to heat up, and its temperature will reach 100 ° C. Thus, due to the fact that the units operating on solid fuel do not have automation, the water will overheat.

To avoid such unpleasant consequences, you can install. This device is a container, the volume of which is calculated based on the power of the boiler - for 1 kW 40 liters. The thermal accumulator is connected to the underfloor heating system. The heated water will initially enter this tank, and after it cools down - into the pipes of the underfloor heating.

At the price, diesel boilers are more expensive than gas boilers, and in terms of energy consumption they are slightly cheaper than electric ones.

The disadvantage of diesel boilers, unfortunately, is not only in the boilers themselves, but also in diesel fuel, the quality of which often leaves much to be desired. Other disadvantages: the smell of diesel fuel in the boiler room, the need to have storage tanks for storage of diesel fuel.
