Devices for protecting the door from burglary. How to strengthen the door in the country? Strengthening a wooden door with iron

How to strengthen a wooden door?

When discussing another case of burglary among ourselves, we, as a rule, scold the police, accusing them of the lack of effective measures to prevent such cases and combat the catastrophic increase in their number. At the same time, however, we forget about ourselves: are we doing something for the safety of our apartments!

We are not encouraging readers to “catch crooks”; We see our task in something else: to suggest such methods of refurbishing an apartment, which will significantly reduce the possibility of burglaries.

The simplest example: a fair share of all apartment robberies occurs without breaking the front door or using master keys - people leaving the house simply forget to lock the apartment. And how many front doors are equipped with such primitive locks that you don't need to be Ostap Bender to open them with your thumbnail! Meanwhile, you can significantly secure your home if you strengthen the door frame, reinforce the door and equip it with reliable locks. In today's post, we want to give you some proven tips that will help you to a large extent to protect your apartment from uninvited guests.

To rigidly connect the door frame with a reinforced concrete wall panel, holes d = 10 mm must be drilled in its vertical posts so that the drill goes deep into the concrete to a depth of at least 50..70 mm, after which steel rods are driven into these holes. The door will also be strengthened by a pair of pins d = 10 mm fixed to it from the side of the hinges, as shown in our figure. Opposite each of the pins on the box, cut a blind hole into which a steel sleeve (a piece of pipe) with an inner diameter slightly larger than the diameter of the pin is inserted. When the door is closed, these rods enter the bushings; such latches do not allow robbers (or, in any case, seriously impede) to break open the door from the side of not too strong and reliable hinges.

Reliable constipation is an ample guarantee of the safety of your apartment. Unfortunately, it is not easy to acquire a high-security lock today (however, like many other things). However, it is not too difficult to equip the door with the simplest additional devices that significantly increase the secrecy of old and not very reliable locks.

As you know, many doors still have locks with plate levers and with a through keyhole. Their secrecy is extremely low; however, it can be increased significantly. The easiest way is to install an additional miniature lock, which is designed for mailboxes. It is made on the basis of a fairly reliable cylinder mechanism with a high degree of secrecy. If you embed it as shown in our figure, then, leaving the house, you can first close the door with the main lock, and then, by inserting the key into a miniature lock, block the keyhole of the main lock with the help of a latch connected to its mechanism ... Now an attacker will no longer be able to insert a key or a master key into the keyhole. An additional lock will do you a good service even when you lock the doors at night. It is only necessary to block the keyhole from the outside with it, and from the inside to lock the door with the main lock.

Rice. 2. Increase the privacy of the main lock with an additional mailbox lock:
1- handle-lining, 2-additional lock, 3-additional lock key; 4- key of the main lock; 5- keyhole latch of the main lock, 6-door

There is another way to increase the secrecy of old locks - with the help of a secret latch, which can be opened or closed through the keyhole of the main lock. To do this, you will have to make a homemade valve of the type shown in the figure. The main thing in it is a comb of four to five steel threaded rods screwed into the latch and slightly riveted in order to ensure their locking. Such a valve is opened or closed using a homemade key. It is necessary to select a rod (or an old key) according to the diameter of the keyhole, make a cut at the end and pivotally fix a steel plate in it with a rivet or screw. Its length is chosen depending on the relative position of the keyhole of the main lock and the secret latch.

To open or close such a latch, you must insert a homemade key into the keyhole; the swivel plate must be vertical. As soon as the end of the key comes out of the keyhole, the plate will drop under its own weight and fall between the adjacent pins of the comb. By turning the key to one side or the other, you can open or close the latch. Keep in mind that such a lock can be installed on the door even if it is not equipped with a turnkey lock with a barbed key. It is only necessary to cut a through hole in the door for a homemade key with a swivel plate and close it from the inside and outside with a decorative overlay with a keyhole.

A keyhole (fake or real) will allow you to install another sufficiently reliable lock with increased secrecy and increased mechanical reliability. With the help of such a lock, the door is rigidly fixed from above and below, which, in combination with a reinforced door frame, will make your home reliably protected from the visits of "burglars".

This lock consists of two spring-loaded latches installed, as shown in the figure, in the upper and lower parts of the door. The latches are connected with a thick nylon fishing line so that it is located opposite the keyhole - real or fake. A special key, with which you can open such a lock, is a round steel rod with an eyelet (similar to the standard key of this lock); in the end part of it there is a cut, the width of which is slightly larger than the diameter of the line, and the depth is about 10 mm. Sharp edges on the key should be rounded as shown in our picture. To open such a lock, the key is inserted into the keyhole, the connecting line falls into the cut, after which the key must be turned; the fishing line will wind on the rod, pull the latches, and they will free the front door.

Such a lock is especially reliable in combination with the miniature cylinder lock for mailboxes, the use of which we have already described above. It should, apparently, be noted that it is convenient to use the mechanisms of old, now rarely used so-called "English" locks as latches, which have a spring-loaded latch and a safety catch.

And the last thing. All additional locks of increased reliability and secrecy and a reinforced door frame are unlikely to be effective means of protection against burglars if the door itself is fragile. And modern doors, consisting, as a rule, of a lightweight wooden frame, chip filler and hardboard sheathing, do not differ in strength. It can be increased by additional cladding with plywood with a thickness of 3.4 mm or pasting with several layers of fiberglass over epoxy resin or parquet varnish. In conclusion, we recommend that you cover the door with leatherette or artificial leather, laying a layer of foam rubber between the trim and the door itself. In addition to damping noise and improving the appearance of the front door, the soft cladding will introduce an element of uncertainty for the intruder - after all, any unpredictably ultra-reliable door can be hidden under the artificial leather.

Ways to strengthen a wooden front door

Unfortunately, over time, the performance characteristics of wooden entrance doors change, and not for the better. Naturally, the question of replacing them arises. In the event that there is no financial opportunity to install another door block, it makes sense to strengthen the old one.

It is not worth taking any measures to strengthen the low-quality door, it is more expedient to replace it at the same time as the box. Alternatively, a solid wood door is suitable, which can be strengthened at your discretion.

We strengthen the door frame

It's no secret that a front door that opens to the outside is better. But there are apartments in which the opposite is true, and this situation must be corrected as soon as possible. You will get extra space, and at the same time make the task more difficult for ill-wishers. In addition, it is very easy to do it. It is enough to remove the entire door block and turn it in the right direction.

The protection of the apartment originates from the door frame, the fasteners of which are directly connected to the material. The metal frame can be welded to steel rods hammered into the ends of a doorway or to the reinforcement of a reinforced concrete wall. This type of fastener is the most reliable.

The door frame can also be installed on the spacer anchors. To do this, at the ends of the doorway, it is necessary to drill holes and put metal dowels into them, into which the bolts are screwed. It is important to remember that when installing the door frame, you cannot use plastic dowels, nails or self-tapping screws. Even with the strongest door, with this type of fastening, it will not be difficult to remove it from the opening using simple tools.

Checking door hinges

Wooden front doors can simply be removed from their hinges. Therefore, ordinary hinges should be replaced with special metal plates with flat insulated connectors. They are popularly called "anti-squeeze". It is advisable to attach a third hinge, this will prevent the door from landing. In addition, in the hinge attachment points, the doorframe must be well reinforced, for example with a steel strip.

We install reliable larvae

The lock remains an important security element. For the front door, you should choose more complex locking devices, and preferably several at once, this will increase its protection. To avoid unexpected guests, you need to carry out a full or partial replacement of the faulty closing mechanism in time, or improve its individual elements. The modern market has a huge selection of profile locks and larvae equipped with all sorts of anti-burglary systems.

Replacement of the lock usually begins with its dismantling. When the screws are unscrewed, the key should be turned and using a screwdriver, prying the plate, pull out the old lock. After that, you can put a new one, having previously outlined the contours of its plates. Plates with pins will be installed on the end of the door, and counterparts to the door frame, where it is necessary to drill holes of the required size for them. After tightening the screws on the end plate, insert, for example, the high security Mottura secret larvae. Then, make sure the lock works well and the door opens easily.

Armor for wooden door

The safest way to make the front door stronger is to cover it with steel or aluminum sheet, so that it is larger than the size of the door and protrudes beyond its frame. But then the hinges should also be strengthened, since, due to the increase in the weight of the door, they can sag and lead to deformation of the leaf. This also applies to the base, which must be upholstered with metal corners and more securely fixed in the doorway.

To enhance the protection of a wooden entrance door, you can also upholster it with a metal mesh. To do this, using steel strips, the metal mesh should be fixed from the inside along the entire surface of the canvas. Further, mineral wool is spread over the mesh, fixed, and covered with any upholstery material.

Full-height steel bolt bars will also help provide your front door with extra protection. One of the effective ways to strengthen the front door will be the installation of a special metal plate that will close access to the lock. The cover plate itself, screws and threaded bushings must be extra strong. The metal strip is attached to the inside of the door handle. It is desirable that the insert has beveled edges, this will prevent it from being gripped by any tool. Thus, the closed base of the cylinder prevents the cylinder from being rotated.

Additional protection items

  • For safety reasons, it is worth putting on special “legs” on the door hinges, which are bolted to the door and abut against the corresponding bushings in the door frame when it is closed.
  • Particularly noteworthy is the latch, which will protect the wooden door from being knocked out. It is attached across the door, which includes the latch and lock stopper. It is important that the plank has a solid base and is not very thin.
  • When attempting to burglarize, electronic sound locks will also be protected, emitting a long, loud alarm signal.
  • Enhanced security measures will never be superfluous, therefore, if possible, it is advisable to install a second metal door with a profile lock.

How to strengthen a wooden door?

I want to put a wooden front door. But I understand that it needs to be reinforced with metal. The question is: how to do it right?
I thought to do something like this: sheathe the end of the door along the perimeter, for example, with a corner.
Strengthen the side of the hinges and the side of the lock with met. plates.
What is the best way to connect metal to wood? For example, self-tapping screws can be easily unscrewed, therefore they do not fit, I think. And is it wise to use welding?
The corner, fixed from the side of the end, is inaccessible to the attacker. Therefore, I am mainly interested in fastening met. plates to protect the lock.
Should a sheet of metal on the side of the lock cover the door along its entire height, or is it enough to just close the place where the locks are installed?
How to make a cover strip to protect the crossbars of the locks?
How to properly attach (and protect) the hinges?

I would be grateful for constructive suggestions and reasonable criticism.

2Skeptic I saw the door of the Finns, there they are inside the door, when collecting a bar before gluing, they put a piece of iron bent with the letter P inside. As I understand it, it strengthens better than the timber itself. We ordered the door, we'll get it. Only the locks are broken, not the doors, it is enough to overlap the place where the hinges are installed, the end of the door at the exit point of the crossbars of the locks and the place where the locks are installed. Even with bolts sticking out from the outside through the door, such an installation is more reliable one hundred times than in the void of iron doors. The fact that a piece of cotton wool is better in terms of heat and sound insulation of a 60 mm thick wooden array can only be said by a patient.

Unfortunately, it is very difficult to find a company that is ready to implement all the necessary reinforcements for a wooden door for a reasonable price. The top steel door DPZ or NEMAN type K9l will come out cheaper, more beautiful and more reliable. And independent attempts in most cases are doomed to failure. Too troublesome. In addition, you cannot even imagine the process, and you do not have a workshop. And at home, on your knee, nothing good will come of it. Your door will open with the help of a simple crowbar even after all the "enhancements" on the count of two.

2TeRaos Hello instigator. You would have thrown what you think here and kind of did it yourself, but Neman and I would have installed such doors. Roughly speaking, I don’t know what Neman will take for the iron door frame, but the door panel will come out to the level of 600 rubles in total. Locks, strengthening will understand by letting in another five, no higher. And it will look like an ordinary wooden door. The Finns easily suggested a way of strengthening. A metal profile is laid inside, before gluing the timber.
Everything is glued together, with all the details and necessary embedded parts.
The door as a constructor will be.
The club will give money to finance this model. After all, ***** and those who do not know how to think are running out, although there is still a lot left.

At home, on my knee - yes. But there are friends who make doors (not bad). Plus, there are acquaintances working in a mechanical workshop.
Although, I think that at home, on your knees, you can achieve good results.
And the doors of the DPZ and Neman. So they are not in our city, and they are unlikely to appear in the near future.
And what we sell. This is horror: either China (a lot of China), or a garage. There are, however, a couple of offices that make doors supposedly using bending technology. But these doors did not stand next to the Neman, even a simple one, and the price was FROM 30,000. And the castles are there. none.

Therefore, I still do not give up the idea. Does everyone really think that strengthening the door at home is impossible? After all, you can cut metal to order (from the same friends), and you can attach it to the door yourself, if you have a tool and hands.

Skeptic
Perhaps in the absence of an alternative, you can do something suitable, but.

Firstly, you will need a door made of glued solid oak, beech or alder (however, other species are also possible, except for spruce and pine, but the designated ones are best). Paneled doors will not work.

Secondly, the canvas must be at least 50mm. It is desirable that on the door and frame two quarters be chosen for two seals, but it is not easy to find such. In an extreme case, it will do with one quarter, but then a "roller" will have to be made as the second sealing circuit.

Thirdly, from the side of the bolts, we strengthen the anti-release bar. In the simplest case, we select a cavity 3-6 mm deep from the end of the door with a milling cutter, insert a metal plate of the appropriate thickness into it. We fix it with self-tapping screws. We do the same from the side of the box. We do not use the standard counterparts of the locks; we make holes for the crossbars directly in the reinforced plate.

From the side of the loops, we do a similar operation. Ideally, we do this procedure around the entire perimeter of the door and frame. You can try to replace the plate with a corner or even a U-shaped profile. But the complexity increases significantly, and it will be difficult to find such material.

Actually after that the door can be installed. But do not forget about the corresponding hinges and their fastening (the weight at the door will be more than 100 kg). It is also better to choose a lock with three-way locking, but the vertical rods will have to be hidden in boxes, and this is not entirely aesthetically pleasing. However, they can later be hidden behind the upholstery. If the door opens inward, the "rollers" of the second sealing contour will also be located on the same side. The attachment points of the end strips of locks and hinges will need to be "coordinated" with the metal plates installed in the previous step.

Actually, this is the strengthening of the wooden door. The rest is little things. Unfortunately, it is unlikely that it will be possible to close the U-shaped profile even at the gluing stage, although, of course, it will be much better than the specified strapping.

PS. This method has been tested in practice, but the final cost of the door is far from budgetary, about $ 2,000.

Thanks for the good advice! I will think further.

Actually, after the door and locks are installed, you will need to wait a while until it "sits in its place." Then proceed to the main strengthening, which is as follows:

Through the hinges, end strips of locks and "reinforcing" plates we make several holes (from 3 to 10 on each side) into the door cavity for 10-20mm reinforcement. From the side of the hinges into these holes, the reinforcement is installed with a protrusion of 10-15 mm. Mating holes are made on the box, where these "tails" will fall when the door is closed. From the side of the locks, the fittings are installed flush, the main thing is that a reliable hook is formed between these power elements and the end strips of the locks.

The metal plates on the side of the box are strengthened in the same way. It is important that the reinforcement goes into the main wall, and does not hang out in the gap between the frame and the doorway.

And to what depth do you need to drill holes and install fittings? I understand that this operation should be performed after the door has been installed, therefore, it should (can) be done at home, using an ordinary drill? After all, it is hardly possible to remove the installed door and take it to the workshop, especially if this is the only door.
And yet - what is the best way to fix the reinforcement? Do I need to put it on epoxy, for example? Or will it be enough to force it into the holes?
It is especially important to know the recommended hole depth.

You don't need to film anything. All rebar holes are drilled on site. There is no point in fixing either, because when trying to break in, the main force will be applied to bending, not pulling out. It is enough that the reinforcement fits snugly and DOES NOT PRESS INSIDE, i.e. the depth of the hole and the length of the reinforcement must match. It is important that a secure engagement is formed between the end plates and the reinforcement. How to provide it - look at the place. Tack it by welding. The main thing is not to overdo it with the gap between the door and the frame. Leave 1mm - the door will sag and will cling. Leave 5mm - a crowbar will stick in and tear off any reinforcement. Choose the reinforcement planting depth based on common sense, 20cm should be enough.

Not more than 5 - 8 thousand rubles, not counting the installation. Plus the moral satisfaction that you have an ordinary normal door, and not an entrance to your own prison cell.

Do you think that it makes no sense to reinforce the end of the door with a corner? Is the bar enough?

Also, I want to ask some advice about locks. I want to put Kerberos as the main one. Which one is better to choose - mortise or invoice, taking into account the specifics of the door?
True, in our city they do not sell Kerberos. How can you order it by mail? And then on the sites of your dealers I did not find such an option.

And here is the additional lock. So what about the Barrier? I remember you said that Polyvector is now a member of the Club?

Has entered.
There are common enemies for the Russian manufacturer, and do not bark with each other, on one side of the front.
But they have a website, a connection, you decide everything there yourself. Your choice is your responsibility, you can't think about a kind uncle all the time.

2Clock Lovers Club
Thanks!

You. You give ideas. And savmi already order such a door. We will get everything ourselves and check it out. It is also curious how theory and practice correspond there.

interesting topic.
I reinforced an ordinary door by making two plates at the factory from 3 mm steel (one with a bend covered part of the outer plane at the place where the lock was attached, and the side of the lock was an L-shaped piece ..
in it, on a press, I cut out holes for fastening a handle, and for two locks .. a new and sulvadny cylinder.

then four studs were welded and an anti-release bar was welded, then the outer plane was ground on the machine, the welding places became invisible .. (it is no longer possible to drill the attachment points because it is not known where the studs are welded .. and the weld seam is not visible. then this thing was covered with vinyl film (the edges are pre-ground at a corner).
and the second plate was made - just a plate on the inside, there are holes in it for these pins, and for the handle. and under the keyholes ..

installation - on the front side of the door I make a recess equal to the thickness of the lock strips + the thickness of the plate .. total 5 mm) mark the holes for the studs .. drill .. put the outer plate, put the inner one .. squeeze with a clamp .. cut the studs in height, screw on beautiful nuts - all.

the part of the box from the side of the locks is reinforced in a corresponding way. (this was necessary because there was already dust, not wood ..).

along the edge of the door from the side of the hinges, in my opinion, I let an iron strip .. and if I am not mistaken the upper and lower edges .. but I can be mistaken .. I fastened the hinges with long hardened screws .. fortunately that there was an impact screwdriver at hand ..
from the side of the box, the hinge was attached to the wall .. (holes in the wall, dowels and long screws are hammered in).

as a result it was funny .. when I sowed the key .. or forgot it in the room .. I don’t remember already .. I broke the door .. as a result the box broke off .. and the door remained intact ..
although it is difficult to judge the burglary resistance of such protection, since I did not break it vandal .. not having the desire to damage the door or the box .. maybe it would not have saved from radically forceful methods.

The topic is back
I see that I am not the only one who thinks about installing a solid wooden door.

we have an external china at home .. an alarm will hang on it .. I put all my hope on a wooden door .. so I will start strengthening it ..

Once upon a time I liked one piece of advice that I heard somewhere.
put the outer flimsy and even nondescript .. and the inner solid ..
about the nondescript, I disagree .. china looks, in principle, wow .. but I hope all thieves know that this is cheap, but let the internal one work as protection .. well, I just think of the Chinese as an alarm sensor that they started to break

So after all the evolution of the type.
Thoughts and reflections, plus experience, a normal process.
We have been reporting from day one: they don’t clean guns with bricks. stupidity is to put yourself a piece of iron at the entrance.
There is no such example of burglary resistance and personal security around the world, except for the scoop. No!
Well, unless there is such a thing in Moscow, from there the fashion went completely stupid.

Good day everyone!

If I understood the above correctly -
today in Moscow it is unrealistic to find an office that can supply a high-quality wooden door that is not inferior to the NEMAN steel doors for reasonable money (25-30 rubles)?

How to strengthen a wooden hinged front door: reinforcement options

The main function of the front door is to protect the premises from unauthorized entry by thieves.

Entrance structures are made of metal, wood, glass, plastic or a combination of these materials. Metal products resist burglary better. More often these are placed in modern houses. But, if you have wooden doors installed, they can be reinforced so that they become reliable when trying to break in mechanically.

Classification

They are divided by the type of opening:

In swing systems for opening, the unsecured part of the door leaf is pushed away from itself or pulled towards itself.

In sliding systems, the sash moves parallel to the wall along guides that are installed at the top of the doorway (compartment doors), or mounted in the doorway (cassette-type doors). In the case of the cassette type, the sash hides inward into a cassette installed in the wall.

Swing type is often used for external systems.

Swing type

Before giving options for strengthening the structure, we will consider what it consists of and what elements can be strengthened, as well as ways of performing these works.

Entrance swing door design

It consists of two parts: a box and a canvas. Additionally, each system is completed with fittings.

Door frame

Fixed part of the structure. Fastened into the wall opening with anchors. Consists of three or four beams (depending on the design).

Each of them has its own name, according to their functional responsibilities. The bar to which the canvas is attached is called hinged. The second vertical bar is called mock. The upper beam is the headroom, and the lower one is the threshold.

Canvas

The leaf or sash is a movable element of the door. One part of the hinges is installed on the canvas, the second (lower) is attached to the hinge bar. When installing the canvas, it is simply hung on the door frame using a hinge structure.

The canvas is of the following types:

Solid wood is made of solid wood. For the construction of wooden doors, this is the most reliable option.

Panel boards consist of a wooden frame, which is covered with MDF sheets or wooden elements. A heat and sound insulator is placed between the sheets.

Panel door construction

Attention! The panel structure is weakly resistant to burglary, so if you have such a door installed, then it must be replaced, since reinforcing the box or purchasing high-quality locks will not help if the door is knocked out.

When choosing, they choose a structure made of solid wood, for example, oak, beech, cherry or alder.

Fittings

It includes the following elements:

  • locking and locking mechanisms;
  • pens;
  • door peepholes, etc.

What places of a wooden door need strengthening

One of the most common hacking methods is spinning the canvas. To do this, a scrap is inserted into the gap between the canvas and the box and the sash is squeezed out. This happens if you have gaps between the canvas and the box.

The second way is violation of the integrity of the lock (drilling, pulling out or knocking out the lock cylinder).

The door opened in the castle area

The third option is cutting door hinges. After the burglar has performed the cut, the canvas simply moves to the side and the passage to the room is open.

Also, when using jacks or with a strong impact, the box is squeezed out along with the canvas. This happens if it is loosely fixed in the opening.

How to strengthen a wooden door from thieves with your own hands?

Strengthening the wooden box

If the tree from which the box is made is not rotten and has not dried out over time, then the structure is strengthened from mechanical breaking.

To strengthen the box, metal corners are installed around the perimeter. One side of the square is attached to the doorway with long metal pins or dowels, and the other directly to the frame beams. The easiest way is to install metal plates on all corners of the box.

Strengthening the corners of the door system

Vulnerable when knocked out are doors that open into the room. It is advisable to correct this option for opening the sash. However, simply twisting the loops is not enough. It is necessary to select a groove on the jamb of the box so that the canvas is tightly fixed in the closed position.

To make the box more difficult to deform when the door is pressed out, metal corners are installed around the entire perimeter of the box, which are fixed with self-tapping screws. The main thing is that after installation, they do not interfere with the movement of the web.

Protection of the canvas

To strengthen the wooden canvas, it is upholstered on the outside with a steel sheet with a thickness of 1-1.5 mm. In this case, the sheet should bend around the door from the ends and be fixed with nails or screws from the inside or from the ends. Then the doors are decorated with a wooden lath on top. If the door structure is weak, then the door will sag due to the increased weight of the door leaf. In this case, they are replaced with more powerful ones.

Instead of upholstering the door with a metal sheet, it is upholstered with a metal mesh, which is reinforced with steel sheets around the perimeter. For fixing, screws or staples are used. From above, the door is insulated with mineral wool, which is covered with upholstery made of dermantine or other material. You can install a metal sheet on the outside of the canvas, and from the inside - upholstery with mesh, and then close it with an MDF sheet.

Reservation of the door is carried out as follows.

Stage 1. The canvas is removed from the hinges and laid on a horizontal surface with the outside up.

Stage 2. A metal sheet is laid on top and the locations of the bolts are marked. To do this, draw a line around the perimeter and make marks every 10-15 cm. The bolts must pass through the wooden frame of the canvas. In this case, the mount will be more reliable.

Stage 3. Drill through the door leaf and metal sheet at the bolt installation points. The hole diameter must be equal to the screw diameter.

Stage 4. Fasten the sheet with screws. Their heads are located on the outside of the door. From the inside, they are fixed with nuts.

Fixing the metal sheet on the canvas with screws

Stage 5. Holes are drilled in the metal in the places where the handle, the lock cylinder, and also under the self-tapping screws that secure the lock bar are installed.

Stage 6. Install the accessories on the canvas.

7 stage. Hang the canvas on the box.

In addition to reinforcing the canvas with metal, additional stiffening ribs are installed.

Often, several locking systems are installed to protect doors. Locks cannot be placed close to each other. This weakens the strength of the web. It is desirable that the distance between them be at least 40 cm. The castle platform is also strengthened. If the lock is invoice, then we install a metal plate under it and fasten it with screws. If a mortise structure is used, then a steel plate, only of a larger size, is also installed on the screws from the inside to the lock platform. The cover should cover the keyholes. The metal plate on the locking area and hardware must be strong. Its thickness can be up to 3 mm.

Protection of the lock with metal plates

Installing anti-cuts

To prevent the door from being removed, even when cutting the hinges, use a device that is analogous to anti-cuts. They are installed on metal doors.

Holes are drilled in the hinges that are installed on the box and sash strictly opposite each other. Next, screw a screw into one loop and cut off its head. It should protrude 1-1.5 cm from the hinge. When the door is closed, the hardware enters the hole. Now, even if the hinge is cut off, the screw will not allow you to remove, set aside the broken door and enter the room.

Anti-cuts are also installed on wooden doors. To do this, use plates with a pin, which are mounted on the end of the canvas from the hinge side. To do this, a recess is selected in the tree with a length and depth corresponding to the dimensions of the plate, which should be flush with the end.

Anti-cuts

After that, the door is closed and the pin leaves an imprint on the box. In this place, a counter plate is installed in the box.

It is better to choose a reinforced version of the hinge, with a plug against which the rod rests. In this case, with shaking and impacts, the rod will not fall out and the door cannot be opened in this way.

Installation of reliable locks

To protect the doors from burglary, reliable locks are installed. They are of the following types:

Cylindrical and leveled ones are considered reliable. It is advisable to install not one, but two locks. Only they should not be installed close to each other, so as not to weaken the door leaf.

Also, for better protection, two front doors are installed. The first outer one opens outward, and the second one - into the room. This will not only create big problems for the burglar, but also add additional sound and thermal insulation to the house. The second door should not be inferior in strength to the external one. Sometimes the second doors are made more reinforced than the first, which makes it possible not to attract special attention of thieves to the house. They also need to reinforce the locking platform with a steel plate.

It is advisable to equip the front door leaf with a peephole with a viewing angle of 150-180 °.

How to strengthen the door in the country?

The need to strengthen the doors in the country can appear in several cases: after prolonged use and with the wrong choice of canvas. In these situations, the majority of summer residents who cannot afford the purchase of a new block the question arises - how to strengthen the door in the country?

Experts advise that if the canvas is of poor quality, then it is better not to carry out strengthening measures, since the security level will still remain the same.

Door frame reinforcement technology

Metal doors opening to the inside are rare, but they are still there. If such a system is in the country, then it must be immediately corrected, since external opening significantly increases the level of protection, and also frees up space inside the building. The dismantling process is simple and takes little time, for this it is necessary to remove the door block and install it in the desired position.

If a metal box is installed in the country, then the structure must be welded to steel rods or reinforcement hammered into the ends, this method of strengthening is considered one of the best. It is also possible to install a box on the spacer anchors, which will increase the fixation. This requires fixing metal dowels into the pre-drilled holes at the ends of the opening and screwing in the bolts.

Checking and selection of hinges for the door in the country

How to strengthen the door in the country? - the question arises for most owners, hinges play a significant role in strengthening, and the level of safety as a whole depends on the structure of the structure.

If a high-quality canvas is available, then it is better to equip the doors with hidden hinges. The whole mechanism is hidden in a specialized hole in the box, which is not visible from the outside. The operation of a door with internal hinges is much easier, since the balls on the axles or bearings ensure ease of opening.

Benefits of hidden hinges

  • Due to the hidden device, an attractive and presentable appearance is guaranteed;
  • Increased level of safety, since the hinges cannot be cut or knocked down;
  • If necessary, internal hinges can be exchanged for conventional devices;
  • Simple adjustment, which ensures a complete and even fit to the box.

Features and benefits of anti-removable pins

If the doors have external hinges, then the structure must be reinforced with 12 mm iron rods. Installation of elements occurs from 2 pieces from the end side with a hinge.

Advantages of anti-removable pins

  • It is impossible to remove the door when cutting with a hinge by intruders, since the pins are securely fixed in the box when the blade is closed;
  • When installing the pins, the integrity of the web does not suffer;
  • The attractiveness and style of the surface does not change in any way and remains the same.

Installing a steel sheet to strengthen the door for a summer residence

To increase the strength and reliability of a summer cottage door, the most common way is to install an aluminum or steel sheet. The material must be selected in such a way that the sheet is slightly larger than the door leaf and protrudes beyond it.

This method of strengthening implies strengthening the hinges, since the mass of the door will increase significantly, due to which the structure will sag or deform, the base will also need to be upholstered with metal corners.

Another way is to upholster the canvas with a metal mesh. The process will require steel strips, the installation of which takes place from the inside. Mineral wool is used to insulate the structure, the material is fixed over the mesh and then sheathed with a leather substitute.

Replacing the lock in the door for a summer residence

If there is a simple or faulty lock on the front door of the country house, then it is necessary to replace it, since this element is the basis of protection against the penetration of unauthorized persons. For places not intended for permanent residence, it is better to choose more complex locking mechanisms, for example, a combination of a cylinder and a lever lock will be an excellent security solution.

Additional ways to protect a country house

A high level of security will ensure the safety of your property, and any measures to strengthen the door in the country will not be superfluous.

Rice. 1. Reinforcement of the door and door frame:
1- concrete panel, 2- door frame, 3- door, 4- door reinforcement pin on the hinge side, 5- bushing, 6- door frame reinforcement pin.

Rice.

It can be increased by additional cladding with plywood 3 ... 4 mm thick or pasting with several layers of fiberglass over epoxy resin or parquet varnish.

Independent development of "M-K" using materials from foreign periodicals

  • locking and locking mechanisms;
  • pens;

Also, to protect the door, you need to install an additional bolt or chain, or both.

Do-it-yourself window protection in the country from thieves - how to do it outside and inside the house: from penetration, sun and children + Video

In this article, we will tell you about the most popular types of window protection in the country from thieves. Let's consider the design features of roller shutters, shutters, grilles, their advantages and disadvantages.

Find out what is good for window protection films and anti-burglar fittings.

Also, it will not be superfluous to learn how to protect rooms from the scorching summer sun using blinds and thermal protective film.

How to protect the dacha

Country country houses are often operated only during the summer period and are empty in the winter. In this regard, the owners need to take care of protecting their homes from thieves.

A strong and reliable door, of course, will protect your property from robbery. Protecting windows in the country is another effective method of protecting a house from intruders. Not everyone can afford an alarm, and not everyone needs it.

Choosing protection from thieves

Types of protective structures for windows in a country house

  • Protective coating for glass;
  • Anti-burglary fittings;
  • Varieties of gratings;
  • roller shutters;
  • strong shutters;
  • scarecrows.

Professional thieves will not be afraid of such protection, but the likelihood that they will go for good in a small country house is not high. And for petty thieves, such protective systems will become an obstacle on the way to entering the country.

The rods can be placed vertically, horizontally or overlapping, it all depends on the imagination. The main requirement for metal is and will be strength, the inability to bend under the influence of a certain force.

pros

The level of protection of windows in the country with the help of grilles is quite high, since the fastening takes place directly into the walls.

The choice of frames and lattices in our time is wide, for every taste and budget. Such designs can decorate windows even in an expensive country house.

Minuses

The disadvantage of metal gratings on windows for summer cottages is that they need periodic painting of rods and frames.

Installation of grilles to protect windows in the country is possible in the following options:

  • Fixed grilles are considered one of the most durable. Installation takes place in openings at the stage of fixing windows, in this regard, they can be removed only with blocks.
  • Lattices on windows for overhead-type summer cottages are mounted externally and can be easily dismantled if necessary. To enhance the reliability of fastening, it is possible by pre-installing the anchors into the wall, but in practice no one is doing this.
  • Hinged grilles on windows for summer cottages by the type of shutters have an increased level of security, since in the event of an unforeseen situation, the sashes open without problems from the inside.
  • Folding grates the windows are not endowed with the same reliability and safety as the types described above. Moreover, their appearance leaves much to be desired.

Roller shutters for window protection in the country

Roller shutters on windows to the country house can be installed inside and outside the windows. The lamellas are so tightly placed to each other that it is impossible to spy on what is happening inside the building from the street.

This design opens and closes without any problems. This process takes place according to the principle of sliding the lamellas along the guides on the side, and twist into a neat roll, which is placed at the top of the window opening.

Roller shutters with rigid ribs on windows to the country house are more reliable. Expensive models are equipped with software with which they can open and close on their own, without the participation of the owner of the house.

Benefits of roller shutters

  • They are not afraid of moisture and frost;
  • Comfortable in operation - manual and software control from the remote control;
  • It is possible to lower it completely or up to half;
  • Polyurethane protective coating resists deformation;
  • The variety of colors allows you to make a harmonious choice.

Roller shutter systems are built-in and overhead. The former are more reliable, but at the same time, and significantly more expensive, since the installation system is quite complex.

Roller shutters for summer cottages are not very popular with summer cottage owners, which is explained by the relative high cost of the system. On small wooden houses, they will look too bulky, so they are more suitable for large country houses.

Shutters for protecting windows in the country

The modern market offers us modernized structures that vaguely resemble wooden shutters on old wooden houses.

Very popular now metal shutters for summer cottages, although analogs can be made from wood just as well. This is a two-leaf swing type design. The package includes a locking mechanism.

Note. Metal shutters are much stronger and safer than wooden shutters.

Overhead shutters they are mounted on windows that are located at the level of the facade of the house or are slightly recessed inside. They are installed using hidden hinges, so that they do not fall into the field of view of thieves, and they could not determine the location of the fittings. The expectation is that no one wants to bother with opening such a structure.

Window shutters for built-in summer cottages are more reliable. They are installed inside window openings using anchors that are hammered into the wall. The smaller the space between the fasteners, the better the protection.

Important! Built-in shutters are suitable for installation on windows with deep openings only.

Bogeymen for protecting windows in the country

Modern alarm systems are not cheap, so they are not very popular with summer cottages. There is a similar light and sound security system, but to connect it, you need to use the services of security companies.

Pugach is equipped with sensors that react to movement. It is they who give the signal to turn on the light or sound.

Alarm for protecting windows in the country

A modern alarm system provides for the installation of a sensor in the house that reacts to movement, opening a door or window.

Thus, it gives an alert signal about intrusion into private ownership to the control panel of the security organization. After a certain period of time, and the sooner, the better, the guard will arrive at the facility.

The disadvantage of this method of protecting a house from burglary is that you have to pay a considerable amount for services. Also, there must be a telephone line in the house, it is through it that the signal goes to the remote control.

Protecting windows from the sun

It is good to hide from the sun in the summer cottage. It is good if there is a small garden where you can comfortably sit in the shade of trees. In addition, care must be taken to protect the sunny rooms in the summer cottage.

For this purpose, the owners install blinds, awnings, screens, roller blinds day-night (with a foil side), cover the windows with a special sun-protective film.

It is not for nothing that blinds for windows to the country house are very popular, because their range is so huge that sometimes you can even get confused when choosing them. They are horizontal, vertical, fabric, aluminum, of various colors.

For those who want to save money, ordinary foil will also work, but such protection has an unsightly appearance and tears quickly. Thermal protective film is attached to the windows at the stage of their manufacture.

Let's take a closer look at the most reliable and inexpensive way to protect windows in the country - lattices. To install the grilles on the windows with your own hands, you must adhere to the sequence of steps for their installation.

At the initial stage, before installation, it is necessary to take measurements and order the grilles. Next, decide on the choice of fasteners. Holes of the required size are drilled in the facade, steel pins are driven into them.

The next step is to fasten the lattice with seams in the form of tacking. After installing the metal frame, it must be welded.

At the final stage, the grill is cleaned of welding marks and covered with a special substance that prevents the formation of rust. For a beautiful look, varnish can be applied.

How to strengthen the door in the country?

A high level of security will ensure the safety of your property, and any measures to strengthen the door in the country will not be superfluous.

10 ways to protect your dacha from theft.

How to turn a country house into an impregnable fortress? There is an answer to this question. This article describes three classic, but very effective ways to secure your beloved home, as well as several cheap but very clever ways to protect yourself.

As it usually happens, a person comes to his dacha, and the rooms are a mess, the window is broken, the lock on the door is broken, your favorite electric stove, TV, dishes, tools and garden equipment are missing. In some cases, the wires are even cut and pulled out. Country thieves do not disdain anything, which is insulting!

Remember! As a rule, they climb where it is easy to climb, and quietly and imperceptibly, otherwise the risk of being caught increases greatly. Therefore, determine what the weakest points in the house, as a rule, are windows and doors. So they need to be strengthened so as not to leave the thief a single chance!

Method number 1 Reinforce a wooden front door

If your door is wooden, it can be strengthened with fairly simple methods.
Cover it with steel sheet or stiffener, protect the lock by installing a steel plate. You can strengthen the box with iron corners.

If you want to give the box extra strength, drill a hole in the end and hammer in 10mm metal pins. After such changes, the thief will no longer be able to pull out your box with a crowbar.

“But it should be borne in mind that due to the increase in the weight of the door, the hinges can sag, which will lead to sagging and problems with opening and closing. If the hinges are weak, then change them to more powerful ones. "

Method number 2 Steel doors

It is not necessary to put a door with a very expensive exterior finish on the dacha. The main thing is not appearance, but protective functions. Here's a look at the model steel doors economy, they are usually often used in summer cottages.

When choosing a door, remember that:

The door steel sheet should not be thinner than 2mm, otherwise it can be opened with a kitchen knife.

Install a door that only opens outward. So that it is not possible to knock it out inside.

You need to install two complex locks, with different mechanisms.

A professional burglar understands well how difficult it is to open such metal doors with modern mortise locks.

To break open an iron door with a forceful method, which is correctly installed, it is necessary to cut it out with an autogenous gun, and this requires time, equipment and, in addition, there will be so many sparks and noise that the whole summer cottage village will wake up. It is unlikely that an attacker would take such a risk.

Method number 3 Install bars or shutters on the windows.

For a summer resident, the most pleasant quality of grilles is that in summer you can sleep with an open window and not think that someone is sneaking into your room.

Today, many options do not limit our choice. They can be made in any style and harmoniously fit into the architecture of any home.
But don't forget about the fire safety rules! You need to make at least one opening grille.
The cheapest ways:

Using LEDs instead of alarms.

Hanging up a sign that says "the house is guarded by private security" is, at first glance, a simple, but very practical method, since no one will be able to verify such information and will not risk it.

One of the most recent inventions, traps with marking paint. Objects are used that the thief will surely covet, and as soon as he picks them up, the object explodes with a cloud of paint. It has a very strong psychological effect, realizing that he remained marked, the attacker immediately hides.

A dummy video camera. Equipping a video surveillance system is, of course, a very reliable method of protection, but also very expensive. It is easier to hang up signs with the inscription and the picture “Attention! Video surveillance is being conducted ”and install two or three dummy video cameras. A special impression can be achieved by disguising the dummies of the cameras, but so that the attacker will certainly notice that they were trying to hide.

Other ways:

Security services, an effective but expensive method.

Country house and country property insurance, one of the most common types of insurance. This issue should always be taken very seriously, carefully study the insurance company and the conditions of insurance.

In order not to overpay contributions, insure only those valuables that can potentially be stolen. Draw up a separate insurance contract not only for the building, but also for the property (lawn mower, heater ...) and indicate the prices of each unit.

Install a loud alarm. Who will climb into a house that is noisy for the whole district. As a rule, this has a very strong psychological effect and the attacker will immediately disappear. It is not cheap to install a branded alarm, but you can easily make it yourself for a summer residence.

The main thing is not to use illegal methods of protection and not cause harm to offenders. Better to leave a basin of water over the doorframe, and the thief will appreciate your joke with humor.

In our hectic and insecure age, we need to take care that the front door is a reliable guard for our home. Not only the door should be reliable, but also the door frame.

Quite often, in apartment buildings, door frames are fixed in such a way that it is worth not making a lot of effort, how you can pull the box together with the door out of place. So the first thing we strengthen the door frame so that it is rigidly connected to the wall. To do this, we drill holes in the vertical posts of the door frame and in the wall.

We drill the rack with an ordinary drill, and the wall with a victorious tip. The diameter of the hole on the box should be 1 cm, and in the wall the drill should go to a depth of 5-7 cm.Now we hammer steel rods into the holes obtained, if the walls are wooden, then first we insert metal tubes into the holes, and then rods into them.

In most cases, the door has 2 hinges, for reinforcement we install 1-2 more. We fasten the hinges to the door frame with hardened screws (this will give additional reinforcement to the hinges). The screws must pass through the door frame and enter the wall by at least 3 cm.

There is one more additional protection for the front door - burglar-proof feet that secure the hinges on the door. These steel strips are bolted to the door leaf, and when it is closed, they abut against the holes on the frame.

They will also help strengthen the door. two pins with a diameter of 1 cm, which must be fixed on the door from the hinge side. The essence of these pins is as follows: after making a sufficient hole in the door frame, insert a piece of steel pipe into them, the diameter of which will be slightly larger than the pins, and when the door is closed, the pins enter these steel bushings and fix the door. This fixation will make it harder to break the door down compared to unreliable hinges. But the best result in strengthening the door will be the replacement of conventional hinges with special anti-release hinges, which have both pins and corresponding holes.

Strengthening the door frame in the place of the striker plate will help steel corner... It is installed vertically along the entire height of the box. The corner will be invisible on the door frame if you cut it flush into the jamb.

You can paint it with the same paint as the casing. Before installing the corner, select the holes for the lock tongues and make the fastening holes. The corner is fastened with screws, the length of which is at least 3.5 cm.

The hardened steel will also allow you to slightly reinforce the front door. We fasten the chain to the door jamb with screws, and the locking punk to the door itself horizontally. This is so that the chain can only be removed by closing the door. But this is not a very reliable protection, since you can eat it with nippers, or simply pull it out. Therefore, it is better to install a special door stop, which is more reliable than a chain. You can also make a peephole, which is more expedient to install at a height that will be convenient for all family members.

Installation of the peephole is quite simple, you just need to drill a hole and insert it. We recommend taking a panoramic peephole, which has a wide field of view and closes from the inside.

But the best protection for your front door will be a second steel door with a secure lock (by the way, a hardwood door is also suitable for this purpose), which can be ordered and installed on top of yours.
