Plasterboard niches for TV. How to make a niche for TV from drywall: photo and video

In addition to partitions and additional walls other decorative objects are also made of drywall. For example, you can make a beautiful and functional TV niche with your own hands. Such design solution will allow you to decorate the room, improve its constructive qualities, and make it unusual.

Plasterboard objects in the form of niches are made of various sizes and shapes. The design is complemented with shelves for storing useful things (magazines, books, CDs, columns) or decorative items (figurines, candles, photographs, small paintings).

An example of a niche for a drywall TV

The size and characteristics of the structure depend on such factors:

  • the shape and dimensions of the TV;
  • the visual effect you want to achieve;
  • the size of the room;
  • the presence of other structural objects in the room;
  • placement of sockets and cable from the TV.

These are far from all the factors that will affect the design development and niche installation process. Therefore, to begin with, carefully inspect the room and take into account those nuances that will harmoniously fit the structure into the interior.

After determining the parameters of the future niche, it's time to start manufacturing. This process is so simple that you can do without outside help, and even more so you don't have to call a specialist to your home.

To achieve the desired result, first of all do correct markup... If you strictly follow our recommendations, you will not make mistakes in your work.

First, measurements are taken from the TV. After that, they are transferred to the surface of the wall, where the structure is supposed to be placed. When doing this, take into account the gap between the equipment and the walls. It is enough to take 10 cm on each side.

Allowances allow:

  • facilitate the installation and maintenance of the TV;
  • ensure the ventilation of the TV between the walls;
  • protect the TV from overheating.

The rest of the design parameters depend only on your desire. Moreover, this applies to the size, shape, and finish. Here, a large role should be given to your taste preferences and imagination.

Marking

Be sure to install the profiles in a strictly horizontal position. To do this, use the building level.

In accordance with the markings made, the installation of the guide profiles is carried out. They are attached with self-tapping screws. For installation, you need tools - a screwdriver and a hammer drill. The remaining elements are also created using guide profiles.

An important point in the design of a drywall object is the calculation of the depth. After creating a bulky and oversized structure, in the end you will not be happy with its appearance. A small shelf is suitable for creating a harmonious design. In a single or plural(it all depends on the design) it will avoid unnecessary cumbersomeness. So add some of these small objects to your design if you want.

Installation of profiles

Plating installation and finishing works

Having calculated the parameters of the future structure, carefully cut the material. This stage of construction is very important, since two adjacent strips should converge exactly at the ends. As a result, you will end up with a straight line, which can be both horizontal and vertical. No overhangs or slopes are allowed.

Fix the strips of the pre-cut gypsum board on the installed profiles. Fasten it with self-tapping screws. To create a volumetric effect, other profiles are attached to the edges of the installed plasterboard sections, which repeat the size and location of the previous ones.

Before installing the plasterboard strips, the elements of the communication system are laid.

These elements include:

  • cable from the TV;
  • sockets located so as not to obstruct the installation of the TV;
  • built-in backlight wiring (if any).

After that, cover the front of the niche with plasterboard.

Front paneling

To clarify the nuances of making a niche for installing a TV, a video review is presented below.

It remains only to carry out the final work on finishing the niche.

Step by step execution:

  1. Sealing with putty. It is recommended to use a serpentine tape.
  2. Applying a primer to the surface.
  3. Leveling the common surface with putty.
  4. Sanding with sandpaper.
  5. Application of a primer.
  6. Painting or applying a finishing material.

If the features of your design involve installation in a lighting niche, do not forget to make holes for the installation of lamps.

There are many ways to place your TV in a room. You can purchase a special cabinet at an electrical store. The device is built into a wall or furniture niche or hung on brackets. The owner decides for himself where to place the TV: in the corner of the room or against the wall. Next, we will talk about how to arrange a niche where you plan to put the device.

Do-it-yourself niche made of drywall

To make the portal for the TV receiver attractive appearance, you need to work hard. Prepare in advance:

  • Aluminum profile. Take a runner with a ceiling-to-wall runner, flexible may also be required.
  • Components
  • Fasteners.
  • GKL. Needed standard sheets and arched, if the need arises.
  • Primer and putty.
  • Special tape to close up inner corners and joints with seams.
  • Finishing materials.

If you are just going to buy a new TV, then measure the dimensions of the niche in the wall in order to choose a model for the installation of which you will not need to further deepen into the wall. Prepare tools for work.

A puncher is needed to drill holes in the wall. With the help of a laser level, you can control the installation process in order to avoid distortions. The screwdriver will allow you to quickly tighten the fasteners. To work with drywall, you need scissors, a knife, a hacksaw for metal, a painter's thread, sandpaper to sand the gypsum board, and a spatula with a roller.

Determine for yourself what the niche design should be. It can be protruding, recessed and with open corners. The latter option involves a lot of work. The master will have to close a significant part of the wall with the help of gypsum board, but the interior will only benefit: it will look solid and stylish.

As for the form, you have all kinds of options available. Look at the photo of a TV niche and choose the one that you like best: curved, in the form of a rectangle, square or oval. Structures can be positioned horizontally or vertically.

You need to remember about the standard rules that work here. Vertical installation raises the ceiling visually, and horizontal expands the narrow wall. Also, for rooms with large area or a non-standard layout, unusual geometry may be used.

Near the television receiver, as a rule, they additionally install shelves for a stereo system, placing books, exclusive souvenirs and other decorative items.

To buy a roomy cabinet with a niche for a TV is perfect solution... But if you wish, you yourself can make a drywall rack, and as a result, you will have a holistic structure.

Installation work is carried out in stages. First of all, apply the markings. To do this, use laser level with a tape measure. Draw a drawing of the future portal and proceed with the construction of a metal frame. Calculate the depth of the niche, for this you will need to know the thickness of the TV receiver.

It is necessary to add another 5 or 7 cm to the resulting value for the gap. Then it will be possible to hide engineering Communication... There should be some space between the wall surface and the screen so that air circulates freely and cools the turned on device.

It is important to leave space on all sides of the monitor. Then there will be no problems when you need to hang it or, conversely, remove it. In addition, it is possible that after a while you will want to buy a model with a larger diagonal.

Before you start working, decide how the electrical wiring... Make special channels for the wires or install skirting boxes where you can hide the electrical wiring.

First, you need to fix the guide profile, the distance between adjacent dowels should not exceed 40 cm. After that, the vertical elements are mounted, they are fixed on the floor and on the ceiling. Another option is to make the base of the niche separately and, already assembled, install it on the wall.

At the next stage, the frame is to be covered with gypsum plasterboards. Previously, sheets of drywall are cut into appropriate shapes. Start with small details and complex elements... Fix them with self-tapping screws in increments of 25 or 30 cm.

After installing drywall, it must be leveled using a primer and putty. Reinforce the seams and joints with a serpentine tape. Cover the outer edges with perforated metal corners. After sanding, apply a layer of finishing filler to the plasterboard surface.

Decoration

A beautiful niche in the interior can serve as a real decoration of the room, if you approach it creatively. There are many finishing options, the main thing is to maintain a sense of style.

You can paint the structure water-based paint, sheathe it with decorative stone, paste over with wallpaper or fabric, decorate mosaic tiles or polyurethane stucco molding, apply images to the surface using stencils or paint with your own hands.

Portal in the living room

A living room with a niche for a TV is an opportunity to equip a room in a modern way. After all, around the TV screen, you can arrange a wall with the compartments that are needed. Interesting lighting, exclusive decorative elements and works of art help to make the design original. In addition to paintings, you can put graceful figurines in the wall.

A plasterboard niche requires less space, when compared with standard pieces of furniture - wardrobes or shelving. In addition, the plasterboard construction looks more stylish. It is really unique: you cannot buy it in a store.

The design is successfully used for zoning a room as an internal partition. It partially replaces furniture, allowing you to save usable space... If you are making shelves for books, then it is better to take boards. Wood or glass can withstand significant loads. These materials add variety to the design.

When decorating a niche, focus on the style of the interior. For country - optimal solution false fireplace laid out from decorative stone For Art Nouveau, asymmetry is considered appropriate, for minimalism - clear geometry, for Provence - floral ornaments, and for classics - columns, gilded decor and stucco molding.

And the main highlight is the TV, which occupies the central place. Do not use a lot of bright elements... Lurid details will compete with the footage, which can be annoying.

If you decide to make a niche in other rooms: in the bedroom or in the kitchen, then the sequence of work remains the same. The only caveat is the finish; pastel shades and soft lighting are suitable for the bedroom. In the kitchen, it is appropriate to use green, which is considered the most pleasing to the human eye.

Browse online catalogs to find a design solution you like. Original models will serve as a source of inspiration for you, and you will create a beautiful interior with your own hands.

Photo niche for TV

By virtue of our design abilities and skills, we can independently shape the interior of our house, we can draw up minimal reconstruction projects, adjust them to the estimate for repairs and thus make the apartment more attractive and more convenient. We get huge opportunities using plasterboard systems. It is a lightweight and malleable material with which you can independently make any decorative element - from tiered ceiling and arches, to the simplest niche for the TV.

Feasibility of building a niche for a TV

Flat-panel LCD TVs look good even so, but they may not be perceived in every interior. An excellent solution to this issue can be a plasterboard niche for a TV. We will consider the photo of the structure and the main stages of building a niche today, it remains only to decide on the structure and design. Another big advantage of a niche is the ability to camouflage network and signal cables, but before making a niche with your own hands, it is worth considering even the most original options design and choose those that are most compatible with the chosen interior style.

There are several ways to construct such a niche - it can be a structural part of the entire wall, which is sewn up with drywall, or a separate structure protruding from the wall. Depending on the interior design, you can choose either one or the other, but it is worth considering that if the wall is sewn up with gypsum board anyway, then the niche device in this case will be both cheaper and easier. A separate niche will make the TV center more functional by arranging shelves for small things there.

We think over a sketch and plan

Depending on the room in which the TV will be located, a niche is designed. For example, for a niche in the bedroom, the photo of which is located below, it is not necessary to make the TV visible from anywhere in the room, that is, it can be installed deep enough, and this will make the niche more spacious and functional. Niche lighting in this case will be very useful. In the case when a niche is installed in a large living room, this assumes that the TV will be watched not only from one point, which imposes certain requirements on the design parameters.

Here's what you need to consider and do during the design process:

  • calculate metal carcass, on which the gypsum board will be attached, think over the placement of the profile, all stiffening jumpers, amplifiers and struts;
  • be sure to include in the graphic sketch the laying of communications - power and signal cables, take into account and think over the lighting scheme;
  • after that, you can estimate the GKL cutting scheme in order to avoid overspending of material.

It is also worth immediately deciding what kind of finishing plan will be. The point is that everyone finishing material has its own thickness and it can affect the linear dimensions of the structure as a whole.

We prepare materials and tools

To build a niche of any design, the following tools and materials will be needed:

  1. Metal profile for drywall. You can use and wooden bar, however, if the design is complex enough, then the profile will be preferable. It is lighter, better processed and, if necessary, it can be bent and make at least an arch niche, even a niche complex shape... The tree will not allow this.
  2. GKL can be taken the thinnest and most inexpensive ceiling. It will not carry a special load, and it is processed better.
  3. Dowels for fixing the frame to the wall.
  4. Materials for the manufacture of backlighting, if any, are wires, switches, light sources.
  5. Finishing. Here, everyone enters, guided by their own taste, but the minimum that needs to be done is to putty the seams and level the surface with finishing putty.

As for the tool, everyone should have it in their arsenal - this is hammer drill, screwdriver, building level, jigsaw, metal scissors, dowels, screws, grinder, several types of sandpaper, putty knives.

Stages of work

Since the sketch is already ready, it remains only to go directly to the place where the niche was built and start marking. The dimensions from the sketch are transferred to the wall, once again everything is adjusted in place and, if necessary, some changes are made. The first step is to draw lines along which the profile will be attached. The guide profiles are fixed along horizontal lines, checking the horizontal with the building level. In principle, the supporting legs can be replaced wooden blocks a suitable section, but they are heavier, so the dowels should be placed more often.

If the design assumes the presence of several drywall boxes, they should be fastened in turn from bottom to top. When the frame is ready, you can start sheathing. The sheets are marked as accurately as possible and cut with a sharp knife or jigsaw. In some cases on simple constructions you can first strengthen the sheet, and then cut it in place. Screws are screwed in at a frequency of at least 10 cm.The screwdriver is adjusted to a small torque so that the caps do not damage the surface of the gypsum board, but do not stick out above its surface.

After assembling the niche, it is putty, and a reinforcing mesh is used. The niche is finished in accordance with the chosen design of the room. It can be both wallpaper and stone-like tiles, painting or polyurethane panels. Good luck with your work and enjoyable TV viewing!

In this article, we will figure out how to make a niche for a TV from drywall, consider a photo of ideas for options for such designs and decide where it is better to arrange a niche: in the living room or bedroom.

Plasterboard TV niche

Modern technologies make it possible to use the space of the room as efficiently as possible. Even niches, which, it would seem, cannot be used, can be easily converted into useful shelves, shelving, etc. Moreover, in the arsenal of designers and builders there is a universal material that will remain almost invisible in the interior, but very functional.

We are talking about drywall, the properties of which allow this material to be cut, fastened, painted, etc. This makes it possible to mount household appliances into wall niches and thereby relieve space in the room. This is especially useful if the wall space is the same size as the TV, home theater etc., because most often such equipment is installed in the living room - a room where there is always little space.

You can make a niche for a TV out of drywall with your own hands, having previously studied all the subtleties of installation, fastening and design. Below we will tell you what to look for when creating such a structure and how to do it as beautifully and aesthetically as possible.

What is drywall: advantages and disadvantages of the material

Quite simply due to its structure: this finishing material consists of two elements: a layer of gypsum and specially treated cardboard that covers the gypsum core on both sides. This protects the gypsum from exposure external factors... In addition, due to the perfectly flat surface, the material does not require additional processing before assembly and processing.

In addition, the adhesive and foam used for the production of gypsum is excellent for use in interior decoration: the material does not affect human health, and the fumes do not pollute the air... Another important property of drywall is its ability to absorb moisture in case of excess and release in case of a lack. Among the main characteristics that are valued in construction:

  1. flexibility;
  2. ease;
  3. the ability to decorate;
  4. strength;
  5. wear resistance.

Positive and negative properties of drywall

Like any building material, drywall has its own strengths and weaknesses. The latter include:

  • budget - in comparison with stone, plaster or wood, the cost of drywall is relatively low, and this allows it to be used for finishing large areas and creating different structures;
  • ease of transportation - drywall sheets are easy to transport: they have standard size, which makes it possible to fit the material into the car, and also weigh a little, which makes it easy to use them even on the upper floors;
  • installation speed - due to the absence of "dirty" work (mixing special solutions, gluing, etc.), drywall is quickly and easily attached to the base. In addition, the surface of such a finish is already flat - it is easy to putty, paint or paste over;
  • versatility - due to the fact that drywall can be cut and "adjusted" to the shape, it can be used for different purposes: from, to small structures in the form of niches, shelves and racks;
  • safety - drywall stabilizes the humidity level in the room. Besides, material does not burn.

Concerning disadvantages of drywall, then here we can distinguish the ability to get wet and, as a result, deformation, as well as fragility: if you hammer a nail into a drywall sheet, it will not withstand a heavy load.

Do-it-yourself TV niche: design choice

A few decades ago, a niche was the place that was specially hidden from the eyes of the guests of the house. Usually they placed unnecessary trash there and hung it up. decorative curtain or closed with doors. However, today this situation can be corrected and, with the help of gycardboard, make a stylish and beautiful place for a TV or TV out of this space. Before you start creating a structure, you need to decide on the place where it will be brought together, as well as on the design.

It should immediately be noted that the niche should be installed taking into account all the subtleties:

  • calculate how the audio system will be installed: the subwoofer, speakers and sound amplifiers should not be closed;
  • calculate comfortable height on which the screen will be installed. To do this, take into account the height of the intended niche, the distance to the sofa / bed, as well as the height of the furniture. It should be noted here that experts recommend making a niche at a distance of at least 3 meters from a person;
  • Before installing the plasterboard parts, you should think over and cut out all the connectors for the wires in advance.

The design of the niche itself should not stand out from the general ensemble of the room. This space should be invisible and should not attract too much attention, because the main purpose of a niche is to add additional functionality.

Therefore, it would be best to make it monochromatic, or with imitation natural material, if it comes about the use of stone, wood or other species in the interior.

Sketching and Sizing

After it has been decided where the niche will be located, what elements it will consist of and what the height of the structure will be, you should proceed to the development of sketches. There are several important points to consider at this stage:

  • draw all metal profiles that will be used in the structure, taking into account the thickness of the material and the installation of additional jumpers that will strengthen the structure;
  • indicate on the diagram where the sockets will be transferred, and how they will be attached;
  • outline the ways of dividing drywall under right size and a shape that would save the amount of material.

Dimensions strongly depend on the diagonal of your equipment and the need to install an audio and video system. Lay at least 20 centimeters away from the TV on the left and right sides. Otherwise, there is a risk of overheating of the equipment and its failure.

The most popular types of niches for TV

People who wish to create plasterboard construction for television equipment, it is necessary to choose the shape of the future structure. Most often, preference is given to the following varieties:

  • rectangular horizontal- allows not only to place a TV with a thin screen, but also to leave room for ventilation of the device. The decision to use this type of construction is suitable for both large and small rooms. Moreover, a small space with the help of niches to visually increase the area;

  • rectangular vertical- starts from the floor plinth and ends with the ceiling. Usually on the right height a TV is installed, and below there are additional shelves for books, souvenirs, etc. This design is best suited for rooms with a wide wall;

  • oval- due to the complexity in creating a structure, it is installed quite rarely and is suitable for installation only in those rooms where big square and high ceilings.

The choice of niche design is a matter of taste and preference. However, one should not forget that the wrong design can make the room uncomfortable and comical.

Required tools and materials

Before proceeding to self-assembly niches for a plasterboard TV, it is necessary to prepare tools and materials that will be used in the course of work:

  • aluminum profiles - they will serve as a frame. There are two options for marking such elements: CW - the possibility of attaching the profile to a wall or ceiling, as well as UW - a bearing profile used to fix plasterboard sheets;
  • wooden beams - necessary to strengthen the base of the niche;
  • drywall sheets;
  • metal connecting elements for profiles;
  • dowels and screws.

If the design of a niche in the form of an arc is assumed, it is necessary to purchase special drywall and profiles, the thickness of which makes it possible to bend them... In addition to materials for installation, you will also need a set of tools:

  1. electric devices: drill, screwdriver and grinder;
  2. screwdriver;
  3. a construction knife and a plane for processing drywall;
  4. measuring devices (tape measure, level, meter).

You can also immediately purchase materials for finishing a niche: putty, construction tape, decorative coating: artificial stones, curly plaster, paint.

Installation and assembly process

After purchasing all necessary materials and the preparation of tools, you can begin work on creating the structure and cladding of the niche. This process can be conditionally divided into the following stages.

  1. Fastening metal corners to the wall and ceiling.
  2. Installation of jumpers amplifiers.
  3. Sheathing of the frame with plasterboard.
  4. Create inputs for sockets and wires.
  5. Finishing work.
  6. Installation of television equipment.

Before you hang your TV, you need to decide on its brand and weight. For heavy equipment, it is sometimes necessary to do double sheathing(in case the device will be attached to a plasterboard wall).

Niche for backlit TV: what appliances are used

To add decorative effect to the niche, it can be additionally illuminated. It looks nice when the device is turned off and gives the impression of a portal. The lighting is especially suitable if the niche is equipped with additional shelves with souvenirs placed on them. To create additional, better use led strip that consumes little electricity. This mechanism is also easy to install.

The more costly way in terms of finance and effort to install is Spotlights ... For each device, a cutout must be made and the wattage calculated to avoid overvoltages and short circuits.

To make the niche look as organic as possible, designers recommend following these guidelines:

  • the structure should not be knocked out of overall design;
  • the size of the niche should not be less than a television device and more than 1/3 of the wall;
  • the backlighting should not be bright, and the colors of the lamps should not be in contrast to the overall colors premises;
  • in order for the niche to look as organic as possible, it is necessary to develop a sketch and strictly follow it.

A niche for a plasterboard TV is a unique opportunity to "dilute" the interior of a room and make the most of the space. In addition, the design does not require material costs, as well as serious knowledge or efforts: it can be done independently, without the involvement of specialists, which significantly saves money.

The layout of the interior can make you nervous: suddenly it turns out that there is nowhere to put the TV ... But this is not such a problem - the electronic device will perfectly fit into the situation if you create a niche of drywall for it.

Why a niche is needed for TV

Today, a TV box the size of a box is a forgotten past. It is not on sale, and only a few have kept such a huge electronic device at home. There is no need to fit shelves or bedside tables under TVs with thin plasma and LCD screens, because they have mounts that allow you to fix the screen to the wall or hide it in a niche.

A drywall niche is a great place to install a thin TV

It is important that the thin plasma is inside the wall, without protruding even a centimeter forward. Truth, an ordinary wall it is not so easy to equip an LCD TV for such an arrangement. By the walls different thickness- some are very thick and others are thin.

You won't have to worry about creating a depression in the wall if you arm yourself with drywall. Niche in this building material will make the interior original.

Advantages of placing TV in a box

  • Tucked into a drywall niche, the TV will not seem like a foreign object, it will completely harmonize with the decor in the room;
  • On the shelves of the niche, you can place not only the liquid crystal panel, but also books, a player and discs, and other design elements;
  • Thanks to the niche, the TV will be protected from accidental grazing, which means it will not budge or be damaged;
  • The speakers can be removed into the manufactured niche so that they are also completely safe, for example, from the pens of small children;
  • The equipment from the TV (wires and cable) in the plasterboard niche will be completely hidden from view;
  • You can mount in the created recess lighting, which will significantly decorate the room and make it brighter;
  • The niche looks like an expensive interior decoration, although it doesn't take much money to make it.

Types of plasterboard structures

If the owners of an apartment undertake to create a niche, then they consider three options for its shape. The design can be rectangular horizontal, rectangular vertical or oval. Sometimes it is possible to combine several types in one niche.

Types of plasterboard niches:

  • Usually a rectangular horizontal plasterboard niche is preferred. It will be able to ideally position a thin screen and make a couple of shelves for additional things.

This niche is created without shelves, but backlit

Rectangular horizontal niche - good decision for registration both large and small room... If you create such a niche in a room of short size, you will be able to make it visually more spacious.

  • Rectangular vertical niches are unique in that they take up wall space from flooring up to the ceiling. The TV is certainly installed in the middle of such structures, and next to it, space is left for additional equipment that decorates the interior of elements, books or paintings.

This niche has an unusual curved shape.

A rectangular vertical niche will visually increase the space above your head. Therefore, it is better to build this structure in a room with very wide walls.

  • Very rarely they resort to making an oval niche, since it has a complex manufacturing technology. But it is much more interesting than simple rectangular structure... True, the owners of small rooms about the niche non-standard type can only dream, as it optically reduces the surrounding space.

Oval niche - perfect option for rooms with a large area and high ceilings.

The oval niche goes well with round ceiling and a spherical chandelier

What you need to make your own hands

To create a drywall niche and later not doubt its aesthetics and reliability, you need to have all the materials at hand:

  • Manufactured aluminum profiles for conventions CW and UW. The first mark indicates that the profile can be attached to the wall and ceiling. And the second indicates that the profile can be used as a load-bearing element for fixing drywall panels;
  • Wooden beams, necessary to create the base of the structure;
  • Plasterboard panels 12.5 mm thick;
  • Connectors for metal profiles;
  • Packing with dowels and screws.

When planning to create an arched drywall niche, you need to purchase an arched profile and drywall sheets of such a thickness that they can bend.

Of the tools during work, come in handy:

  • A drill on which you can change the speed;
  • Screwdriver and screwdriver;
  • Hacksaw for metal and power tools for processing profiles;
  • Construction knife and planer for cutting and smoothing drywall panels;
  • Measuring instruments (tape measure, cord, building level and plumb line).

What needs to be considered for the calculations to be correct

  • Before starting work, you need to sketch on paper a drawing of the future structure. From the drawing it will be clear which shelves and where will be made. In it, it is important to designate all the dimensions of the niche, which are calculated based on the parameters of the plasma TV.
  • The depth of the recess is necessarily equal to the length of the TV, otherwise it will protrude beyond the edges of the drywall, and all the work will be done in vain. If you plan to make an outlet behind the TV, then this size must be increased, because in the niche you will have to hide the wires.
  • The width of the niche should be more tv 20 cm, because it is customary to leave a small distance on the sides of the plasma screen. Such gaps between the plasterboard wall and the TV screen are necessary so that you can stick your hands in them to connect or dismantle the TV.

There are no strict limits for all other sizes. The only thing is that each line in the drawing should be drawn straight. Therefore, when applying the markings on the wall, you need to use the building level. They begin to draw exclusively from the center of the wall.

The drawing shows the dimensions of the TV niche and the shelves at the top

  • The strip of outlets for speakers and other additional equipment is usually located at the bottom. Most of the wires can be removed behind the TV. If this option does not suit you, the wires are brought to the TV directly along the wall, after having hollowed out the channel with a puncher. Then the wires embedded in it are masked with putty.

Installation of plasterboard construction

Stages of creating a niche:

  1. First of all, the UD profiles are fixed on the wall exactly according to the marked markings using self-tapping screws. CD profiles are vertically inserted into them; It is important to install each CD profile 0.6 meters from the other. They do not loosen if you fix them on the wall using U-shaped mounts.
  2. On the sides of the niche, the CD profiles must no longer be fastened vertically, but horizontally. After assembling the frame, a TV cable is laid on the wall and electrical wire for backlighting;

    It is possible that other fastening methods may be needed when assembling the frame.

  3. Now you can go to the frame skin. First, drywall sheets are cut into pieces in accordance with required dimensions... The finished pieces are applied to the metal frame.

    Stages of creating a niche: construction of the frame, plasterboard sheathing and finishing the walls with putty

    The edges of the drywall pieces should not protrude beyond the profile. One piece should be in close contact with the other. Excess millimeters of material should be removed with a clerical knife;

  4. Pieces of material are screwed to the frame with self-tapping screws, whose heads must "sink" in the material so that later they cannot be seen under the layer of putty;
  5. Having sheathed the frame with plasterboard, you can carry out finishing work:
    • It is important to putty all the seams between the pieces of material and stick the serpyanka strips on them. When the putty at the drywall joints dries, it will need to be smoothed with sandpaper;
    • Then a primer is applied to the drywall;
    • As soon as the primer is dry, the entire surface of the niche is covered with a thin layer of putty, leveling out small pits;
