How to properly connect a faucet in the bathroom. How to change the faucet in the kitchen: do-it-yourself repair

Overhaul bathroom necessarily includes the installation of a new faucet. Having figured out how to install a mixer with your own hands, you can save a significant amount on plumbing services. The order will have a number of differences depending on whether you need to install equipment from scratch or replace an old appliance.

Dismantling guide

If plumbing is already installed in your bathroom, before you just purchased it from the store, you will need to get rid of the old device. To do this, turn off the water supply by turning the appropriate valves, and then open the taps to relieve pressure in the pipeline.

Sometimes it happens (especially often in old houses) that the inlet valves rust and do not completely shut off the water supply (it flows in a thin stream or drips). In this case, you will need to do the following: if you are unable to completely shut off the cold water, open any cold water faucet (usually open the faucet that supplies water to the toilet) located below the faucet outlets. As a result, water will go through the bottom tap, and you can safely proceed to dismantle and install the faucet in the bathroom.

If it is not possible to discharge water according to such a scheme, you will have to go to the housing office or another management company and write a statement with a request to completely turn off the water risers for the duration of the work. Be prepared for the fact that you will have to pay separately for this service.

Check again for water. If it does not flow, take the key and unscrew the nuts in turn, with which the mixer is attached to the plumbing system. When unscrewing, the key should be turned counterclockwise.

Remove the old mixer and look into the supply pipes. Quite often, an additional filter is installed before entering the tap. After a certain period of operation, this filter becomes contaminated with rust, scale and other elements, which significantly reduces throughput. Carefully remove all foreign matter.

After that, you can start installing new plumbing. However, before you install the mixer, you need to familiarize yourself with a number of rules and requirements. They will help you get things done faster. necessary work, and the installed product will serve for a long time without failures and complaints.

Theoretical knowledge

In most cases, bathrooms already have an outlet for end fittings with internal thread for . In the event that you will be engaged in the supply of highways with your own hands, consider the following important points:

  1. The axis of the inlet fittings for hot and cold water must be installed at a distance of 15 cm from each other.
  2. Hot water is supplied on the left, and cold - on the right.
  3. It is most convenient to use a mixer installed at a height of 15-20 cm from the bathtub and 60-80 from the floor level. Therefore, it is best to be in this position.
  4. Push inlet fittings into the wall. This must be done in such a way that when laying the tiles on the wall, the ends of the fittings are flush with the front side. ceramic tiles. Thanks to this, you can hide the connection points of the plumbing fixture behind decorative cups.

For plumbing, it is best to use plastic pipes. They are cheaper and more practical than steel and cast iron products, and even a person without experience can cope with welding such pipes.

Step-by-step instruction

Prepare mounting tools:

  • gas and wrench and;
  • FUM tape (can be replaced with ordinary tow or linen thread);
  • a set of hex keys;
  • pliers;
  • Screwdriver Set;
  • wrenches.

Often, when installing inlet fittings, it is almost impossible to maintain a distance between them equal to 150 mm. If you made a small mistake, then it's okay. Especially for this, transitional eccentrics are included with the plumbing fixture.

Take your chosen sealing material and wrap it around the threads of the eccentrics and then screw them into the water line inlet fittings. Rotate the eccentrics to obtain a distance equal to or as close as possible to 150 mm. Check the horizontal position of the installation with a spirit level.

Pre-screw the body of the new faucet and make sure it is level. Check how the union nuts are tightened. They should be quite easy to tighten by hand on the entire thread of the nut. If it is rather tight, you will need to fine-tune by slightly turning the eccentrics to achieve unhindered twisting. After that, you will need to wind the decorative cups that will hide the connection point of your new mixer to the main.

Insert the gaskets and put the body of the product in place. Take the wrench and tighten the fixing nuts. Be sure to place a piece of soft cloth under the jaws of the wrench so as not to spoil the coating of the nuts and general form products.

Do not overtighten the nuts. The connection will seal perfectly through the gasket, and there will be no leakage.

Just in case, you can apply pressure to the line and make sure there are no leaks. In case of its presence, it is necessary to additionally tighten the nuts until the leakage is completely eliminated.

Next, you will need to install the gander. Screw on the nut and tighten it with a wrench through a piece of fabric. Insert the gasket and screw the watering can hose to the main body. Insert another gasket, only now to connect the watering can to the hose. Mark the position and attachment points of the watering can holder.

Next, you will need to drill holes for the fasteners and fix the watering can holder bracket to the wall. After that the process self installation mixer in the bathroom can be considered complete. Finally, you will need to open the shut-off valves, make sure that the mixer is working properly and check the tightness of the connections.

Sooner or later, all things fail. What if your favorite faucet, which has pleased you with its flawless work for many years, suddenly breaks down or a decision is made to replace the equipment during the renovation of the bathroom? There are two scenarios. You can call professionals and spend some money to pay for their services, or take on the job yourself.

Contrary to popular belief, installing a bathroom faucet is not that difficult. Any home master, even a beginner, will be able to cope with it. However, before starting work, you should carefully study the instructions and get acquainted with all the nuances of the upcoming procedure.

When going to the store, you need to decide on the type of device that will be installed in the bathroom. If you plan to change the old mixer, it would be best to buy a similar technical specifications new model.

Even a novice home master can install the mixer, you just need to clearly follow all the instructions

You need to understand that there are several types of plumbing equipment.

For example, models are produced for wall mounting and built-in devices. For the first type, it is important to correctly determine the distance between the so-called water sockets and select a mixer with the appropriate parameters.

In addition, it is imperative to make sure that the working elements of the mixer you like are suitable for their dimensions.

If you intend to purchase universal device, its spout should rotate freely, and the length of the part should be sufficient so that it reaches both the bathtub and the sink.

It is also worth making sure that the length of the shower hose is sufficient for comfortable use and that the device contains the accessories necessary for mounting the shower head on the wall.

Mixer accessories may vary. The more elements it includes, the better. In addition, it is very important that the quality of the device is not in doubt.

Dismantling the old device

Before starting work, turn off the water supply. This can be done using the inlet taps, after which the hot and cold water to relieve pressure in the pipelines. It happens that old inlet taps cannot fully cope with their functionality and do not completely shut off the water.

She continues to dig or even flow in a thin stream. In this case, there are only two options for further action. The first is to completely shut off the water supply in the riser, for which you will have to submit an appropriate application to the management company.

You can do with less global actions. It is necessary to open the corresponding water tap with cold or hot water located below the level of the mixer holes. Thus, water will flow from an open tap, not reaching the plumbing fixture, which you can safely work with.

After carrying out all the preparatory work, we once again check the absence of water and proceed to dismantling. If we dismantle wall mixer, we start by unscrewing the union nuts located on the cold and hot water pipes that attach the mixer to the water supply.

Turn the nut counterclockwise with a wrench and unscrew it completely. Then remove the mixer body. Old eccentrics remain on the wall. If they are in good condition and made of good material, such as thick-walled brass, the parts can be left.

Otherwise, the eccentrics must be dismantled. Problems can arise here, so you need to proceed very carefully. We take a gas key and clamp it with sponges on the eccentric on the inner edge of the wide thread. Carefully unscrew the part in a counterclockwise direction.

Excessive force should not be applied, since the element is quite fragile and can break off. It often happens that a stuck eccentric cannot be twisted out.

In this case, it can be heated with a lighter or a candle, provided that the water pipes are made of metal.

When dismantling the old mixer, you need to act precisely and very carefully. Especially carefully remove the eccentrics that have served their purpose, which can get stuck or break off.

The “stubborn” eccentric can also be unscrewed with the help of pliers. Open the tool and insert one of its sponge all the way into the hole. We turn the pliers, unscrewing the eccentric. If there is not enough effort, we take an adjustable wrench, clamp the tool with it and turn it.

It happens that this method does not help either. In this case, there is nothing left but to cut out the stuck eccentric. The same method is used to extract the broken part. We take the blade from a hacksaw for metal, insert it into the hole and begin to cut the thread.

Having cut through the eccentric, we stop so as not to touch another part. After completing one cut after 0.5 cm, we perform the same. Now we take a flat screwdriver, put it under the cut sector and begin to strike it with a hammer. Thus, we take out the sawn element.

We work carefully so as not to damage the internal thread. It is desirable that broken fragments do not fall inside the pipe. If this nevertheless happened, we perform a sharp start-up of water, which will push the fragments out. After the sawn sector is removed, we take the pliers and bend the rest of the part inward.

Then carefully remove it. It remains to carefully clean the hole so that no foreign objects and contaminants remain in it.

When installing a new mixer, we tighten the nuts clockwise, when dismantling, we perform the reverse operation

It is much easier to dismantle the faucet located on the side of the sink or bathtub. We start by unscrewing the flexible hoses from the pipes supplying hot and cold water. Before starting this procedure, it is advisable to substitute a basin under the sink, since water may remain in the hoses.

The next step is to unscrew the hoses from the mixer. The next steps depend on the type of old appliance. It can be fixed on a wide or narrow base. In any case, you will need to unscrew the fasteners, there may be one or two, and then dismantle the old mixer.

Preparing for installation

Preparatory work for installing a faucet in the bathroom consists in preparing the device and water outlets, if installation is expected wall model. Most often, end fittings with threaded female threads for connecting a faucet are already present in the bathroom.

If they are not there or it is planned to replace the old pipeline, some points should be taken into account when laying new pipes:

  • Hot water supply is on the left, and cold water is on the right.
  • A center distance of 150 mm is maintained between the fittings.
  • The optimal position of the faucet above the edge of the bathtub is at a height of 150-200 mm. For the sink, the height will be different, it depends on the type of faucet.
  • Water line fittings are recessed into the wall in such a way that when installing the tiles, their ends are flush with the front side of the cladding. This makes it possible to mask the connection area with decorative overlays.

The mixer also needs to be prepared for installation, since they are most often sold in disassembled form. First of all, it is worth checking the equipment of the device again.

It depends on the model, but most often it includes: the main unit, spout, shower head and hose, gaskets, eccentrics and decorative overlays.

The thread on the fastening nuts and eccentrics must be of high quality. Be sure to study the assembly instructions that the manufacturer puts in the packaging with the device, and assemble the device, following all its points. The mixer is ready for installation.

Faucet installation step by step

The mixer installation technology depends on the type of device. Let's look at the two most common options.

When installing new eccentrics, it is very important to maintain the desired center distance. It should be 150 mm. In addition, do not forget to check the horizontal installation

Installation of wall equipment

Faucets of this type are mounted on the wall above the sink or bath. Work is performed in the following sequence:

  • We prepare eccentrics for installation. To do this, we begin to wind the sealing material onto the threads of the parts. As a winding it is optimal to use sanitary flax. Carefully wind it clockwise, then apply a special lubricant, such as unipack. You can use silicone or even liquid soap. It is permissible to wind the unilok thread, it is better not to use fum tape.
  • We screw the prepared eccentrics into the fittings, observing the symmetry of their relative position. The distance between the parts should be exactly 150 mm.
  • We check the horizontal mounting of the eccentrics, for this we lay on top of the parts building level. If inaccuracies are identified, we eliminate them.
  • We try on the mixer body. We pre-fasten the part in place, after which we check the horizontal installation. If everything is done correctly, then the fixing union nuts will be easily tightened by hand to the full thread until it stops. If the nuts are tight when tightening, you need to adjust the eccentrics. To do this, we slightly rotate the parts, making fine adjustments, and achieve free tightening of the fasteners. After fitting, the body is removed.
  • Mounting on eccentrics decorative covers, which will close the area where the mixer is connected to the pipeline.
  • Put the gaskets in place. If rigid elements are included in the kit, for example, from fiber or paronite, experts recommend mounting them only if the planes of the exits of the eccentrics almost perfectly match. If this is not the case, it is better to use so-called self-adjusting silicone or rubber gaskets.
  • We install the mixer body in place and carefully tighten the fixing nuts with a wrench. In order not to damage the product and not to spoil the chrome coating, we put a key under the lips soft tissue. It is not worth tightening the nuts strongly, since the connection is sealed due to the presence of a gasket and there should be no leakage. After the nuts are tightened, we do a test run of water to make sure there are no leaks. If water still leaks, tighten the nuts a little more.
  • We mount the spout of the mixer. We take the nut, bait it, then tighten it by placing a soft cloth under the jaws of the key.
  • Put the shower head in place. We start with the installation of the gasket, which we place on the junction of the hose and the mixer body. Then carefully tighten the hose. We install the gasket and fasten the shower head to the hose.
  • We mount the mount under the shower. To do this, we mark on the wall a place where the shower head should be fixed. At the marked points, we drill holes for fasteners for the holder. We install the fasteners and fasten the bracket for the shower head holder to the wall.

The installation procedure is completed, it remains only to conduct a test run of water. Before starting it, you need to remove the aerator from the spout so that it does not become clogged with debris that may have remained in the pipeline after dismantling the old appliance.

We carry out a test water supply, carefully inspect the device for leaks.

We increase and decrease the pressure, monitoring the correct operation of the mixer, direct the water into the shower head. Any deficiencies noted will be corrected immediately.

Installing the mixer on the side

Installation of a plumbing fixture on board a sink or bath can be carried out in three ways connecting pipes:

  • The metal part can be steel or more expensive copper chrome. Gives a high quality rigid connection, the most reliable of all known. It can be placed in concrete or in a wall cavity. Differs in difficult and time-consuming installation.
  • Heat-resistant metal-plastic pipe. Allows you to perform reliable connection medium hardness. When mounting, it is mandatory to use end fittings with internal thread and additional adapter needles. In practice, such a connection is used very rarely.
  • Flexible hose. The most simple and inexpensive way connect the water pressure fittings to the mixer. The connection is flexible and quite reliable. Ceteris paribus, it quickly fails, so it is not recommended for placement in a wall or in concrete.

Before installing the mixer on the bath, you need to determine the length of the connecting pipes. To do this, we put the device in place and temporarily fix it, after which we measure the distance from the inlets of the device to the water pipe, taking into account all the bends and corners.

The easiest way is to install the faucet on the edge of the bathtub or sink using flexible inlet hoses. Even a novice plumber can handle this job.

We add a small margin of 50-100 mm to the obtained value, which will make it possible to comfortably fix the device.

A flexible hose, namely, it is most often chosen for making a connection, should not be stretched, but at the same time should not be too long.

Pay attention not only to the size, but also the quality of the details. They should last as long as possible.

When choosing a built-in faucet, you must take into account the dimensions of the mounting hole, otherwise it will not be possible to install it

Let's start installing the device:

  • Putting in place rubber seals and with the help of nuts we fasten flexible connecting hoses to the mixer. If desired, you can create an additional seal by wrapping a little tow or unilok thread on the thread.
  • We take a rubber sealing insert and put it in a recess specially designed for this purpose on the mixer body. The part is necessary to prevent leaks under the bottom of the sink or bathtub.
  • Flexible hoses, fixed at one end on the mixer, are lowered into the hole on the bowl. We lay a gasket on the sink, which should fit between the appliance and the surface of the bowl, and a pressure pin. Then we install the mixer in place.
  • We fix the device with a nut and bolt. We then make sure that the device stands firmly and does not hang out. When tightening the nuts, remember that excessive force will damage the mixer, so carefully tighten them by hand, and then tighten them a little with a wrench.

After installing the device, we perform a test run of water, checking the equipment for leaks. Fixing possible bugs. Any home master can install the mixer on his own. It is very important to choose it correctly so that the device fits in size and type to plumbing equipment installed in the bathroom.

The option with several mounting holes allows you to very conveniently place all the elements of the mixer on the bathtub rim

During installation, you must follow the manufacturer's instructions, clearly fulfilling all their requirements. Then the installation will be successful, and the mixer will serve for a long time and without problems.

One of the directions repair work in the bathroom, except for gluing new tiles on the walls and floor, is the wiring of communications and the replacement of plumbing. Installing a faucet in the bathroom is not difficult and can be done on your own. Just before starting work, you should familiarize yourself with its device, study the manufacturer's instructions and prepare essential tool. Then during the installation of special difficulties will not arise.

    Complete set of a new mixer

    Before you remove the old device and install a new one, you should figure out how it works. It usually includes the following elements:

    • Frame. It consists of two branch pipes for connecting hot and cold water, two nests and spout.
    • Shower hose. The flexible part of the system that connects the mixer to the watering can. The device and material for the manufacture of hoses are different. The simplest ones are made of plastic reinforced with metal winding. More advanced ones have a silicone layer covered with a metal braid and anti-twist protection.
    • Shower head (shower). The most simple model represented by two or three standard modes. More expensive equipped additional features, such as the creation of aerated, massage, jet stream, "economy" mode, etc.
    • Eccentric. Special adapter rounded and slightly elongated. One of its edges is attached to the supply pipe, and the other to the mixer. The length and size for each model may vary slightly.
    • Gusak, or spout, spout. The most widespread are J, C, L-shaped forms.
    • Decorative plafonds.
    • Rubber (silicone) gaskets.

    Any plumbing purchased in a store should be checked for compliance with the configuration and the presence of a possible marriage. Therefore, even before buying, you should make sure that the threads of the fastening nuts, eccentrics are intact, as well as that there are no visible damages on the faucet body and spout, shower hose.

    What material to prefer

    There is a wide variety of manufacturing materials, but the following options are the most practical and in demand:

    • Brass. The device made of this alloy differs in decent weight, costs more. But it has high characteristics, so the product is durable. Well resists various influences of chemical, physical type. During operation, you do not have to worry that the thread of the nuts will not withstand the load, the gander will break off or the body will be damaged.
    • Silumin. An alloy of aluminum and silicon has a democratic price. Models are light, but at the same time fragile, not very reliable. Therefore, imaginary savings as a result of the rapid failure of a silumin product can lead to additional costs.

    Models made of brass and silumin do not differ externally. But brass has more weight, so they should be picked up and compared with each other.. The heavy product will be made of brass, the light one will be made of silumin.

    Device and types of control

    In addition to the classic two-valve mixer control arrangement in Lately there were other solutions. Therefore, the choice of product depends not only on financial capabilities, but also on ease of use.

    Two valves are traditional scheme management. cold and hot water are fed into the mixer separately, and only then the water pressure of each of them (its intensity) is regulated using its own tap. The product is easy to maintain, so repair and replacement of failed parts is easy to do with your own hands.

    Its advantages include compliance classic style and low cost. The disadvantage is the complexity of control, this is especially noticeable in the process of setting the flow of the desired temperature in small volumes, as well as the need to use two hands.

    One lever. The connection of water flows occurs with the help of a special cartridge, and the control is carried out with one movement of the hand. Therefore, this scheme, due to the optimal ratio between price and ease of use, is by far the most popular. The main installation site is the kitchen and bathroom, which contain a sink and sink with a bottom connection.

    Thermostatic control. With this scheme, one knob regulates the force of pressure, the other - its temperature. The acquisition of such a system will be expensive, but if there are children in the family, especially younger age, it should be put on the washbasin. Then, during operation, the likelihood of burns will be minimal.

    Contactless control. The automatic mixer is activated by an infrared sensor, which reacts to the approach of any object, to the user's hands, and signals this to the control board. The electronics processes the impulse and redirects it to the solenoid water valve, which opens, thereby supplying water.

    As soon as the object disappears from the area of action, the valve closes. The set temperature is set using a thermostatic regulator, the operation of which occurs almost instantly. The disadvantages include the high cost of equipment and the periodic replacement of batteries.

    When purchasing a new mixer, you should pay attention to such an indicator as the height, length of the spout itself, and take into account the characteristics of its location. Ideally, the jet of flowing water should not hit the walls and provide the necessary comfort.

    Available installation methods

    Differences in the designs of taps - the length of the gooseneck, the presence / absence of a shower head, the opening mechanism and other characteristics affect the choice of installation method. According to them, there are several options:

    • fastening the crane to the wall;
    • hidden gasket;
    • construction of a separate rack;
    • bathtub installation.

    The most widely used methods are open and concealed installation. The first one is perfect for a beginner. home master, since the fastening can be done directly on the wall yourself, without resorting to the help of professionals. This does not require a specialized tool for wall chasing, complex calculations and markings, and all operations will take a minimum of time.

    The most popular and in demand is the flush-mounted connection. The task is more laborious, but doable. The main difficulty lies in preparing the walls, laying pipes inside them and gaining access to communications. Perfect for this method. polypropylene pipes which are resistant to corrosion, have good performance characteristics and have a long service life. Hidden from prying eyes, they do not spoil appearance rooms, do not clutter up the place. Therefore, the mixer can be installed at any comfortable height.

    The construction of a separate rack. The method is quite laborious, but it allows you to hide the pipes by placing them inside the box. To fit the rack into the interior of the room, it is surrounded tiles. Since such designs require additional space, which many bathrooms do not have, this method is in demand in rooms with large area. Given the possible difficulties, the option of installing an open rack is more popular.

    If the design of the bath has special technological connectors, then the installation of the mixer is carried out directly on its board. Connection to hot and cold water pipes is carried out with flexible hoses of the required length, which are purchased separately. This solution eliminates the need for complex piping. But this method is not suitable for installing a faucet on an ordinary classic bath..

    There are no special restrictions, so many owners themselves choose how to connect the faucet, and also determine the height and location of the device: above the bathtub, sink or between them.

    Preparatory work

    Regardless of the installation method chosen, even before starting work, it is necessary to carefully plan the entire process and prepare the following tools and materials:

    • mixer;
    • gas key No. 1;
    • adjustable wrench up to 17 mm;
    • pliers;
    • linen tow or FUM.

    If there are no high-quality keys and no plumbing work is planned in the future, then it is better to borrow them from friends. Because the cost good tool may be higher than the price of the mixer itself. A gas wrench is required to work with elements without a protective decorative coating, such as eccentrics. But the nuts, in order not to damage their coating, should be tightened with an adjustable wrench.

    At the initial stage, they block the water supply going along the main line and from an electric water heater or gas water heater. By opening the taps, the residual pressure in the system is relieved.

    In the event of a poor state of communications and problems, it would be right to refuse to install the mixer yourself and invite a plumber to help.

    Next, you need to remove the valve. An old type product with two valves holds the nuts, which are unscrewed first. After which the mixer is removed without problems. The next step is to remove the eccentrics. With hidden pipe laying and limited access, this is quite difficult to do.

    Therefore, if the condition of the old eccentrics allows, and the center distance between them and the connection points on the mixer are the same, then they are left in place. This solution will reduce the time of work. If the eccentrics are to be replaced, they take new ones that come with the mixer in the amount of two units. There are threads on each side. different diameter, with a designation in the inch system - by ½ and ¾.

    Taking the key and adjusting the jaws to the size of the adapter, they try to turn it counterclockwise. Remove and check the condition of the external thread on the pipes.

    Connection to the water supply is carried out with a smaller diameter. Before that, tow or FUM is wound on the thread of the polypropylene adapter of the supplied pipe. They are necessary to ensure a tight connection and can prevent leakage. Clockwise, they try to carefully screw in the eccentric until it sits tightly and its bend is in the upper position.

    Mixer installation

    Having completed preparatory work, you can proceed with the installation of a new crane. Despite the apparent difficulties, the process takes a little time. Before assembling the device, all parts are manually connected to each other, checking for serviceability, and tightened with a key. But it is better to fix the shower head at the final stage.

    Leaning the mixer against the screwed-in eccentrics, check the center-to-center correspondence between them and the holes on the body. If everything is done correctly, then they will match. Now install decorative shades, trying to fit snugly against the wall.

    Further, insulating gaskets are placed between the eccentrics and union nuts on the mixer body. Tighten by hand and only then tighten with a key until slight resistance appears, and a creaking sound should appear. It is not recommended to apply excessive force, otherwise the threads may be stripped or the gasket damaged. At the end of the work, a shower head and a gander are connected. This completes the assembly and installation of the mixer. It remains to open the water supply and, after checking for possible leaks, try it out in action - take a shower.

    Installation of the mixer is a responsible, but simple task, which everyone can handle. With even a little plumbing experience, all work is easy to do on your own without the involvement of qualified specialists, which will save some money.

Each of us faced such a problem as replacing the mixer. This can happen because the old faucet is worn out, or if you are doing repairs and decide to install a new faucet.

You always have the option to invite a specialist who will install you, but you will have to pay for this service, or you can install it yourself, and spend the saved money on other needs. Installing a faucet is not that difficult.

In this article, we will tell you in detail how to properly install a faucet in the bathroom and present a video instruction on this topic.

Now there are two main models of mixers - these are lever and valve. Each option has its pros and cons:

  1. Lever- very easy to use, but adjusting the water temperature is very difficult, especially when you have hot water coming from a boiler or gas column. Also very frequent problems with shower switch.
  2. valve- This model is familiar to everyone. The advantage of these faucets is a more accurate setting of the water temperature, as well as a more durable shower switch. The disadvantage is the valves themselves, or rather the fact that because of them it often drips from the gander and frequent replacement of gaskets is required.

There are other models, more about which can be found on this. If you want to know how to choose and install a bathroom faucet with a shower,. Also when choosing a bathroom faucet pay attention to the following nuances:

  • Faucet finish (chrome) must be perfect. Any defects in the coating in the future will accelerate the destruction of the coating and spoil the appearance of the mixer.
  • Gotta be heavy then it's made of brass. Only mixers made of brass are durable.
  • Check the kit.

The complete set of the mixer includes the following parts:

  • Mixer body;
  • Gander;
  • Passage under the shower;
  • Decorative shades;
  • shower head;
  • shower hose;
  • Gaskets;
  • Wall mount (if the crane is lever).

Even the most reliable faucet can leak if installed incorrectly or for long periods of time. Find out if and if it is possible.

Did you know that there is a faucet with a water supply sensor? More about it, its advantages and disadvantages.

Preparation for work

You will need the following set of tools:

  • adjustable wrench;
  • gas key;
  • Fum-tape - fluoroplastic sealant;
  • Drill;
  • Hexagon #10;
  • Roulette.

Adjustable wrench is better to use the second number, it will be much more convenient for you during installation. Drill, if you have to install a wall-mounted shower fixture. You can still wind up the tow with a special paste, but for a beginner it will be easier to work with fum tape.

When installing the mixer, in fact, you need to wind only one side of the eccentric, which is screwed into a corner in the wall, and everything else is assembled strictly on gaskets, and winding in these connections will not help at all.

Installation instructions

  1. We shut off the water.
  2. We screw the eccentrics.
  3. We put on decorative shades.
  4. We fasten the mixer body.
  5. We mount the goose.
  6. We install the transition under the shower hose.
  7. We fasten the shower hose and watering can.
  8. If required, we mount a shower fixture on the wall.

And now consider each step installation of a faucet in the bathroom with your own hands in detail.

Most people have the most problems with the first point. It's good if you already had a mixer, which is out of order and you just change it. Then you are all set, you just need to screw the mixer body and that's it.

If the installation of eccentrics is required, then we wind the half-inch thread with a fum tape, we wind the seal strictly clockwise and do from 4-10 turns it all depends on the thickness of the fuma you purchased.

After that, we screw an inch corner into the floor, which is hidden in the wall. Twisting it with a gas or adjustable wrench, eccentrics are installed so that the distance between the centers was strictly 15 cm so that the faucet can be screwed on easily.

If your nuts are easily screwed during installation, then you did everything well. If the nuts are screwed with an interference fit, then this promises in the future big problems. At some point, the nut or the brass bushing that holds the nut will snap, so it is better to fix the eccentrics.

Now you can open the water and check if we have leaks. If everything is normal, then continue with the installation. If not, then you need to fix the problem.

After installing the shades, we fasten the mixer body. To do this, gaskets are inserted in the nut on the mixer body, and we fasten the nuts to the eccentrics.

First, we tighten the nuts as much as possible by hand, only then we tighten the nuts with an adjustable wrench, making literally 1-2 turns. You should not tighten it too much, otherwise you can cut off the gaskets and then you will need to install new ones.

Now we fasten the gander to the body. It is only screwed on by hand. and keys are not used. To do this, we press the gander with force into the hole intended for it, and then the nut will be easily screwed.

If it leaks from under the gander, it makes no sense to tighten it with a wrench or gas wrench, it is necessary to produce replacement of the goose with a new one.

Next, we install the transition under the shower hose, which also serves as a mount for it. It is screwed with a three-quarter nut to the hole on top of the mixer. Having previously inserted a gasket into the nut, twist and tighten tightly by hand.

What to do, if ? Learn all about the causes of the problem and how to solve it.

Why are water heater taps Aquaterm, Delimano and others attractive and why are they chosen instead of traditional faucets? Find out.

Lever faucets, some older models, may have a special transition tee (moon) for connecting shower hoses. It is mounted between the gander and the mixer body.

We fasten the shower hose to the transition to the shower. To do this, put half an inch spacers in the nut on the hose and tighten by hand. If required, can be tightened up a bit.

We fasten the watering can to the hose, not forgetting to install the gasket in the nut on the hose. We twist strictly by hand.

On the shower hose, the nuts come in different shapes - elongated, conical, and the other is standard. The flare nut is screwed to the watering can, and the usual one to the mixer.

And the last - install wall mount. It is completed with fastening only lever cranes. In valve mixers, the watering can is located on the mixer.

Important Details

When tightening the nuts with a wrench, be sure to put a piece of a rag between them, so you will not scratch the mixer. If the faucet is damaged, the warranty automatically expires with the key..

Before installation, tighten the brass bushings on the mixer with a No. 10 hex that press ¾ nuts on body.

Installing a faucet in the bathroom yourself is not a very difficult task, the main thing is to carefully and carefully follow each step when installing the faucet. As a result, you will be pleased with the new mixer on the wall, which you were able to install yourself.

There are 2 options for installing a bathroom faucet - you can pay a small amount and hire good master or do it all by hand. After reading the article, you will learn not only how to install a faucet in the bathroom on the wall, but also learn how to do it correctly, taking into account all the nuances and subtleties.

Choosing a new faucet in the bath

To replace the old faucet, you need to buy a new faucet.

Parameters by which mixers should be evaluated:

  • Weight. The quality of the mixer is indicated by its mass. A good faucet cannot be too light. Long-term service is determined by the thickness of the material. Weight is the key to metal.
  • Manufacturing material. Cranes are made of 2 materials: brass or silumin. Silumin faucets are much cheaper than brass ones. However, silumin metal is not durable. In such mixers, clamping nuts often burst or handles break off. Their only advantage is their low price.

Brass taps have a large mass with an increased viscosity of the alloy. Due to the viscosity of the alloy, clamping nuts with pipes do not burst from minor deformations that cannot be avoided when using a crane. Brass alloy faucets have an impressive appearance and do not corrode.

Dismantling the old mixer

Only after you purchase a new faucet, you can start connecting. The process begins with the dismantling of the old.

The process is carried out as follows:

  • First, the water supply to the bathroom is shut off.
  • The rest of the water comes down from the faucet.
  • An adjustable wrench is taken and carefully, so as not to damage the thread on the fitting on the wall, we unscrew the connection of the mixer with the water supply.
  • The thread of the fitting should be cleaned of winding residues.

Before starting the installation of a new crane, it should be assembled.

Since the cranes are sold unassembled, when buying a product, you must carefully check the complete set of parts:

  • decorative plafonds;
  • gaskets;
  • eccentrics;
  • shower head;
  • shower hose;
  • gander;
  • main block.

You can check the completeness in the instructions that came with the mixer. All parts must be packaged and be in fabric or plastic bags.

Be sure to check the integrity of the threads on all nuts and eccentrics.

Installing a faucet in the bathroom on the wall: the sequence of work

For ease of perception of information on installing a faucet in the bathroom, the process is presented in the form of step-by-step instructions:

  • There are 2 exits on the wall water pipes, which end with an internal thread. V rare cases, they may end not with an internal, but with an external thread. The first thing to do in this case is to install special couplings (adapters). They are quite easy to install - they are wound on external thread tow, and then the sleeve is screwed on and tightened with an adjustable wrench.
  • Having equipped the outlet pipes with an internal thread, you can proceed with the installation of the mixer. After unpacking the box with the product, you will find a small bag with 2 shiny cups, from which we take out 2 eccentrics. They can be recognized by the carving - on one side there is an inscription 3/4, and on the other - 1/2. At this stage of work, we need a thread of a smaller diameter. We tightly wrap tow on it. The eccentric must be held by the thread of a larger diameter in the left hand, we wind the tow clockwise. We screw both eccentrics so that they look up with bends.
  • Now we get the mixer itself. Installation of the mixer at this stage of work requires adjusting the eccentrics to the center-to-center distance of the mixer itself. It is very easy to do this. First you need to wind one union nut eccentric mixer. After you have screwed on 1 nut, see how the second nut fits on the second eccentric. If inconsistencies are found, take open end wrench and the eccentric is gently scrolled until the desired position is reached.
  • Having achieved the desired result, the mixer is removed and decorative cups are screwed onto the eccentrics. At this stage, problems should not arise.
  • We mount the mixer using gaskets- no FUM tapes, tow and other sealants need to be wound on the thread. With correctly fitted eccentrics under the mixer nuts, there will be no leakage, even with the nuts twisted by hand.

The nuts must not be tightened with a wrench - after clamping by hand, it is enough to make half a turn with the wrench. Too much effort can result in cracked nuts and cut linings. In both cases, leaks are likely to occur.

  • If you did not assemble the faucet before installation, do it now. The key should only be used when absolutely necessary.
  • Open the main valve. Check the operation of the mixer.

Installing a faucet on a new bathroom wall

Now consider the question of how to install a faucet in the bathroom on new wall taking into account all the subtleties.

To display fittings for installing a mixer, you should calculate the following parameters:

  • The distance between the fittings should be approximately 150 mm. At the same time, they must be located strictly parallel.

  • After laying ceramic tiles, extreme point fitting must be flush with the wall.
  • The fittings must be level and at a height acceptable for the installation of the mixer. The side of the bath can be taken as a guide.

The fittings should be soldered already after the plumbing pipes have branched, when the plaster beacons are set or when the crate is installed.
