How to make a stone vase. How to make outdoor flowerpots for flowers with your own hands

Outdoor vases (which are often referred to as flowerpots) greatly decorate the area near a summer house or a private cottage. These peculiar flower beds can be installed anywhere: near benches and gates, on stairs and.

You can buy such a vase (but it is quite expensive), or you can make it yourself. Moreover, from quite accessible materials and.

Peculiarities

We will talk about products that imitate stone - they look the most stylish and can last a long time. It is very long and hard to carve a stone flowerpot, and the costs will be large. It is much easier to cast a vase on a cement or plaster mortar. Successfully decorated, it will look no worse than stone.

The form into which the solution will be poured can be purchased ready-made - they are sold. Or use improvised materials for this purpose: boxes, plastic buckets, large tin cans. More on this later. By the way, we will talk about technology that does not require the use of a form at all.

  • For a long service life, it should be selected for a solution that gives sufficient water resistance (after all, an outdoor vase will have to successfully withstand more than one winter and summer).
  • products are treated with a moisture-proof composition.

Composition and structure

Depending on the manufacturing technology, the compositions of the components will be required, slightly (or significantly) different from each other. Let's take a closer look at three ways to make a vase using a solution.

Method one - a flowerpot made of concrete

To get a product that imitates stone well, you need to take:

  • two parts of peat (which can be replaced with vermiculite);
  • one part (for texture);
  • one part dry fresh cement;
  • water (it is added to the dry mixture until the mass reaches a viscous consistency).

As forms for a concrete vase in this option, cardboard boxes can be used (two pieces that fit one into the other with a gap equal to the wall thickness of the future vase). Or any other containers. You can also buy it at a hardware store. finished form from plastic.

Method two - when the form is not required

This technology was published in one of the Hungarian magazines. There is no need to make or buy a form here - just simple plywood (plank) templates are enough for the inner and outer walls. Each of the templates has a semicircular recess, and wire loops are attached to the side.

The composition of the solution used in this technology:

  • dry fresh cement - one part;
  • sand (with large or medium grain) - from three to five parts;
  • water - until a sufficiently thick consistency of the mixture is obtained.

Method three - plaster vase

In this case, we most often need a non-removable form. If the product is small, then, for example, plastic bottles can be used.

A larger flowerpot can be made on the basis of a bucket of building materials, a large tin can or box.

To make a vase you need:

  • gypsum powder;
  • plaster bandage (can be replaced with strips of fabric, bandage);
  • water - to create a mixture of sour cream density.

How to make a street flower vase from concrete for a summer residence with your own hands, from a solution with rags, cloth and burlap, read below.

About why concrete vase for the street is better than plastic, this video will tell:

Do it yourself

Let us describe in more detail the process of making a flowerpot by each of the three methods.

concrete product

Basic way

The easiest option is to take two boxes as a template. One is smaller, the other is larger. The gap between their walls will be equal to the thickness of our future vase.

A smaller box is wrapped with mesh, and then inserted into a large box, on the bottom of which cement is first poured with a layer of three to five centimeters.

  1. Now we prepare the solution by mixing cement, sand and peat (or expanded clay).
  2. Add enough water to get not a liquid mass, but a mixture that is well molded.
  3. We fill the space between the boxes with this mixture and leave it for a couple of days.
  4. After that, we take out the smaller box (having previously checked whether the solution has hardened), and cut the larger one and also remove it.

Important nuances

If you don't want to drill the necessary drainage holes in solid concrete (which would require a special stone drill), you can do it easier. Before pouring the solution, we insert several tubes with a height equal to the thickness of the walls and bottom (usually about five centimeters).

After cleaning the sharp edges of the product with a stiff brush, they begin to decorate. For example, painting. We sand well all the bumps and cover the surface with durable paint for outdoor use. If you want to get a product of a light shade, then first apply a layer of white paint.

By the way, you can also color the solution itself by adding iron oxide pigment to it. It has good durability, but it has a small selection of shades.

Cement sample according to Hungarian technology

  1. We free up a flat place on the site and put a sheet there (can be replaced with thick polyethylene, tin, and so on).
  2. Pour a mixture of sand and cement into the center (from three to one to five to one), stir well, spread it in a slide and make a hole on top.
  3. Slowly pour water into this hole until you get a thick mixture,.
  4. Now let's act like potters. We stick a metal rod into the center, to which we attach the first template on wire loops - for the inner walls.
  5. We begin to rotate it, resulting in a hemisphere. We close it with thin polyethylene, and then apply the next layer of the mixture, smoothing it with a trowel.
  6. Then a reinforcing layer will go (mesh made of plastic or metal), again a layer cement mixture. It's time to use the second template, which gives the look outside vases.
  7. After that, the rod can be removed (by the way, just formed drainage hole), and let the vase dry from five days to a week. At this time, it is useful to put wet rags on it.

Sometimes, to speed up hardening, instead cement mortar make plaster (from three to four parts lime mortar plus one part plaster). To avoid lumps, gypsum is first poured into the water, then lime mortar is added.

Plaster vases

Method number 1

  1. The selected form (box, jar, bucket) for a concrete flower vase is placed on a plane covered with oilcloth.
  2. The glossy surface (if present) is sanded for better adhesion.
  3. Wrap the surface with plaster bandages (or ordinary bandages or strips of fabric soaked gypsum mortar cream density).
  4. After the walls have reached the desired thickness, the workpiece is put to dry.

You can do it easier and faster, without a long winding of bandages. Taking a piece of any dense fabric (knitwear is well suited for this purpose) and fix it on the form. Using glue or tailor's pins. Then we apply gypsum diluted to a liquid consistency (preferably decorative) in several layers. Let dry, decorate.

Method number 2

Another way:

  1. We take a plastic ten-liter bucket (we will pull it out later) and weave it with a wire, making a frame.
  2. We cover this frame inside (and then outside) with strips of fabric soaked in a gypsum solution of sour cream density.
  3. We lay the fabric until the walls of the desired thickness are obtained.
  4. Then we dry (with a wall thickness of two centimeters, the process will take twelve hours) and decorate.

You can simply paint the gypsum product (first by applying a layer of white acrylic paint for soil, then - any of your choice). Or you can stick lace before dyeing (or varnishing) (it gives a very beautiful effect), buttons, small twigs. From above, an acrylic lacquer intended for outdoor use will give protection.

The following video will teach you how to make a highly durable concrete vase:

Decorating a yard, garden or cottage is a fascinating and lengthy business, and it also requires decent material costs. To save money, many things to decorate the garden / plot can be done by hand. This time we will talk about how to make outdoor flowerpots. Let's take a closer look at the manufacturing process of two materials - wood and concrete. These are the most plastic inexpensive materials from which you can make very good things.

Wooden flowerpots

Wood may or may not the best choice for the manufacture of outdoor flowerpots, but very affordable, plastic, easy to process. That's probably why it's popular. Wooden outdoor flowerpots can be made from scrap boards, moisture-resistant plywood, timber, tree trunks, stumps, old barrels and tubs.

From boards and plywood

If you want the flowerpot to retain its color for a long time and not turn gray, but you don’t want to paint it with some kind of opaque paint (such as oil paint), you will need to buy wood oil. It gives the wood a shade, but leaves visible pores (like a stain). Along the way, this oil, as it were, “preserves” it, protects it from fungi, insects, and mold.

The easiest way to make flower vases is from rectangular or square boards. It is necessary to cut several pieces of the same length, put together a box from them, nail the bottom.

So that the bottom of such a flowerpot does not bloom, it must be raised on its legs. In the very simple version to the bottom, in the corners, you can nail four small pieces of the board. There is a desire - you can try to make more decorative legs (as in the photo above).

When nailing boards, do not try to knock down the planks very tightly. When watered, they will swell and, if they are nailed close, they can rise. However, you should not leave very large gaps - the earth can wake up through the bottom.

Another way to make an outdoor flower pot out of wood is to cut four identical pieces of timber with a small section of 25-25 mm, for example). Use the bars as the ribs of the structure, nail the boards to them, attach the bottom from below. This option is good because such flowerpots immediately have legs.

By the same principle, you can make a flowerpot from moisture-resistant plywood. Cut out the sides from it, attach them to the bars. Instead of nails, wood screws are usually used, and a drill will also be needed. Before screwing the screw, drill a hole. Attach the sidewall to the bar rack, drill, stepping back 1 cm from the edge. Drill diameter - 1-2 mm less than the diameter of the self-tapping screw. So, firstly, the bar will not burst, and secondly, it is easier to fasteners into plywood. Instead of wooden corners you can take metal, better - from stainless steel.

The next version of the flower pot is from wooden beam(photo below). It’s still easier here - they fold the beam so that the connection is either in one plane or in another. After laying each beam, it is nailed to those located below. Nails must be driven in at the corners; on the long side, you can also nail one or two times.

Everything is simple. Difficulties can arise only with the first row. It can be fixed to some kind of bottom, for example, knocked down from boards, a piece of waterproof plywood with holes drilled in it to drain water.

Any of these flowerpots can be combined with. You will get a wonderful place to relax. Such a group can be placed in the garden, near the entrance, somewhere on the site, near or a small homemade one.

From stumps and logs

In the garden or suburban area old trees have to be felled periodically. From their stumps and trunks, you can also make outdoor flowerpots. First, let's talk about how to use trunks. It is better not to peel off the bark, so the look of the flowerpots will be more decorative. Depending on the idea, the trunks are cut into blocks of some height. Can be cut with normal hand saw, but faster - with a chainsaw. These logs can be placed standing up, you can lay them on their side.

The main task is to take out a piece of wood so that a container is formed that can be filled with earth. There are several methods for removing the core. Usually take a drill and a large diameter drill. A conical or spade-shaped drill works better (as in the photo).

Make some holes to the depth you need. It depends on the type of plants that you plan to plant in this flowerpot, but usually - 15-20 cm. You can make a lot of holes - the thinner the walls are, the easier it is to remove them.

The walls are destroyed with a chisel or a wide chisel. The handle of these tools is tapped with a hammer, and the sharp blade breaks off pieces. So, gradually, the core is released. Then the edges of the resulting container are slightly aligned using the same technique.

If the stump has a large diameter, you can use an ax or a pickaxe. Just be careful not to break the walls. Near the walls, you can use a drill, finally decorate the inside of the flowerpot with the same chisel.

Another option is to make some notches with an ax, crumble the wood, make a fire inside. But whether it will be possible to extinguish it in time is the question. The charred insides are then removed with a chisel or chisel.

By the way, very interesting compositions can be obtained from a very old and rotten deck. It is cleaned of very crumbling wood. The inside in this case is picked off very easily - the inner part of the trunk decays first. What's left can be coated with wood oil, stopping decay for a period.

Such hollowed out logs or stumps make excellent flowerpots. Some design ideas are collected in the photo gallery.

An interesting fence around the lawn - flowerpots of stumps alternate simply with decks Chornobrivtsy - unpretentious flowers with a long flowering period Primroses will bloom in stumps earlier - they receive more sun and are higher from the cold ground And even a stump, on a spring day ...

From tub barrels and other cooperage products

The easiest way to make street flowerpots is from old barrels, tubs and other containers that are no longer in use and cannot be used due to old age, but it is a pity to throw them away. They can be processed a little. sandpaper- manually or by attaching an appropriate nozzle to a drill / grinder. Then they can be painted, varnished for outdoor use or wood oil. And you can plant plants.

Barrels are sawn, and in any plane. But if you cut along, you will have to knock together planks with each other. The barrels cut across are two identical (or almost) flowerpots.

Even old wood may not be processed. So the composition looks more natural. But not all styles will fit such a flowerpot. In this case, use a special paint for outdoor work, which can be used on wood.

Outdoor flowerpot made of plastic with wooden lining

If outwardly you like wood, but want to have sealed container to avoid drips on the site after watering, you can paste over a plastic container with wooden planks. Planks are treated with antiseptics, painted, dried. Then you can start converting a plastic container (bucket, tank, barrel) into a flower pot for outdoor flowers.

First, holes are drilled in the bottom. Out diameter - 10-14 mm. Leave two opposite zones along the edges untouched. Here we attach the “legs” - two planks cut so that they do not protrude beyond the outline of the barrel. You can attach it to the bolts, drill a hole under the head so that the fasteners are “drowned”.

We take a universal glue that is suitable for gluing plastic and wood, and glue the planks on it. The narrower the planks, the more monolithic the surface will be. Such outdoor flowerpots do not shrink and do not swell.

Homemade concrete flower vases

Concrete is good because it can be poured into any shape. Suitable plastic, glass, metal, wooden, clay vessels and even cardboard boxes.

It is most convenient to work with plastic - it is easy to remove from it. Even easier with glass, but such forms are usually disposable. It was not possible to take them out - they are broken.

What kind of concrete to use

For the manufacture of outdoor flowerpots, you can use ordinary concrete, consisting of cement and sand in a ratio of 1: 3/4 (Portland cement grade not lower than M 400 and clean sifted river sand). The surface of such a flowerpot will be monophonic, gray. In some cases, it looks stylish, and grey colour does not distract attention from the main thing - from flowers. But but not always.

products look more interesting decorative concrete. It is also called artistic, art, architectural, acrylic, polymer - concrete. These are all designations for the same product. In addition to cement and sand, architectural concrete contains polymer additives, small fragments of natural minerals, some contain dyes. The surface of the flowerpot made of decorative concrete is smoother, more interesting, interspersed with natural stones. The specific type depends on the selected composition. Some types of decorative concrete are shown in the photo below.

What to make forms for pouring a concrete flowerpot

Any shape can be used, from almost any material. It is important that it does not get wet and keeps its shape for 4-5 hours. Then the concrete seizes and already holds itself. Therefore, they make forms even from thick packaging cardboard, sizing coal well and tightening it with belts” from adhesive tape. But caron can be used to make molds only for small flowerpots - for a small group of plants. But the form can be any.

Actually, two forms are needed - one to form the outer surface, the second - much smaller - is inserted inside the first and forms a zone into which soil is then poured and plants are planted. The internal shape is selected based on the dimensions of the planned flowerpot, but the wall thickness should not be less than 3 cm.

You can use plastic bowls, glasses, containers, trays, water bottles - large and small. You can knock down the form of boards, plywood, pieces of another sheet material. It does not matter. Anything, anything that comes to mind to use.

There is interesting shape basin or bowl? Also suitable. And to form the internal volume, you can find something heavy, preferably correct form, but this is absolutely not important. Even a bowling ball will do. It is good because it is heavy and smooth - you can easily take it out.

Metal bowl and bowling ball - make a great flower pot

Round flowerpots look best, but finding the right shape is not easy. Usually these are either plastic containers or glass balls, which are cut / broken after the concrete has set.

Manufacturing process

It is possible to work with cement only at temperatures above +5 °C. Ideal conditions are +20°C and high humidity but temperature is more important. The place where you will leave the concrete to "ripen" should be in the shade.

You found suitable forms, stirred the cement. It should not be too runny, not too thick. It should not drain from a spatula or spatula, but not so dry that something can be molded from it.

It is necessary to work with gloves - concrete corrodes hands very quickly. You need a spatula or something similar to spread the solution, a long thin stick or a metal rod to remove air. You will also need either a large container with water or a piece of plastic wrap.

We take forms, process them with some kind of lubricant. This is necessary in order to remove the flowerpot from the mold easily. You can use the following drugs:

  • Non-stick cooking spray. Harmless and effective.
  • Special sprays for concrete. They are much more expensive, but the performance is the same.
  • Motor oil.
  • Universal grease VD-40.

Maybe other compounds work, but these are tested.

One of the compositions is processing forms. The big one is inside, the small one is outside. In a large form, pour the solution into the bottom with a layer of 3-4 cm, level it. This will be the bottom. If you want drainage holes in the bottom, insert pieces of tubing. You can use metal, cut them into pieces 3-4 cm long, also treat the outside with grease. In this case, the bottom thickness should be equal to the height of these tubes. And place them strictly under the bottom of the second form.

We put the second form on the solution. If it is light, we fill it with small stones, crushed stone, pebbles, sand. The gaps between the two walls are filled with mortar. If the material allows, then we take a rod or a thin stick along the walls with a hammer, pierce the solution to the bottom, shake it from side to side. With these actions - knocking and piercing - air bubbles come out of the concrete, it settles down a little. This procedure can be repeated a couple of times. Then we take some smooth object (a spoon, for example), spray it with grease and level the top of the wall. try to make the side as even as possible - then it's hard to do something with it.

We cover the form filled with concrete with a piece of polyethylene and leave it in this form for at least a day. After a day, the form can be removed, but it is still impossible to use the flowerpot. It can be lowered into a container of water and left there for a week. Another option is to cover with a film and sprinkle with water three or four times a day. Spray generously, until completely dark. Remember to cover with cling film each time. After about 10-14 days, you can start planting plants. That's all, now you can make concrete outdoor flowerpots with your own hands.

Finishing a concrete flowerpot

If you do not like the surface of the flowerpot, you can decorate it. Do not make the flowerpot too bright. It is only a background for the flowers and greenery that will be planted in it. There is traditional methods– coloring, there are more exotic ones – decoration with mosaics, pieces of bat ceramic tiles or pebbles.

When painting, choose a paint that is suitable for concrete, pre-priming the surface (in order for the paint to hold better and not flake off).

For finishing with tiles or pebbles, a layer of tile adhesive (for outdoor use) 5-6 mm thick is laid on the surface, and pebbles are pressed into it. It is necessary to work carefully, to erase traces of glue on pebbles with a rhinestone - then it is not removed.

The finished flowerpot is left to dry until the glue dries (the time is indicated on the package). The joints can then be grouted using standard tile grout. It is inconvenient to work, the gaps between the pebbles are too narrow. You can try using thin plastic strips or narrow tile grouts.

Flowerpots from building concrete blocks

For planting plants suitable hollow concrete blocks with large cells. Soil is poured into the cells, flowers are planted. You can lay out a whole wall from such blocks. The recipe is simple but very effective.

Low and wide bowl - can be made from a basin

And finally, a video master class on how to make a flowerpot from a car tire.

The countryside area is more finished and well maintained. Such elements today can easily be purchased at specialized garden stores and centers. You can also try to make such a product with your own hands. We will consider the latter option and tell the order and various options for creating beautiful decoration for garden with my own hands. Go!..

We make a flowerpot from a stump

To create a decorative ornament with a stump, the first step, of course, is to find the most suitable tree for this. As such, it can be just a small snag found in the forest, or a thick base of a tree, sawn out with one's own hands. At the same time, it is important to understand that the decorative effect of the finished element will largely depend on the texture and shape of the selected wood species.

All work starts with dimensioning street vase. Experts do not recommend taking a height of more than 40 centimeters. The excess is simply cut out with a chainsaw. With this approach, the bark of the wood is not damaged, and the appearance of the element will remain as natural as possible. In addition, you will get the most even cut, which is also good.

A circle is outlined on the surface of the sawn stump. After that, a cone-shaped drill is taken, and the inside is completely drilled out. In this case, it is important to follow right order: first, small holes about 10 cm deep are made around the perimeter, then the internal contents of the stump are knocked out with a mechanical chisel, where the final surface treatment is done with an ordinary chisel.

The future flowerpot is covered from the inside wood stain. For this, as a rule, a paint brush is used. It is important to process all areas without leaving gaps! If desired, for decoration, you can use different decorative products.

Ready-made logs are attached to the already processed and dried bottom. It is best if you use a saw cut of identical diameter for this. From the inside, parts of a single circle are attached with construction stapler. The new row is placed in such a way that the seam looks misaligned. The rows themselves are also fastened with a stapler.

At the end, it remains only to place a plastic or clay container inside right size, and plant the flowers you like in the spilled earth.

Do-it-yourself concrete flowerpot

Using cement and other components, you can make a flowerpot as big size, and not so much.

Big

For a large composition you will need plastic mold height and diameter of 23 and 53 centimeters, respectively.

The concrete mixture is prepared from a couple of parts of high-moor peat and a part of perlite. Capacity can be measured using a 1.5-liter bucket. The composition of 3 components is diluted with water until a thick consistency is formed.

Since the finished concrete flowerpot will turn out to be quite heavy, it is recommended to create it immediately at the right place.

First of all, to create an outdoor flowerpot made of concrete, we take a plastic pot, which will act as a form. On its surface even layer, the film is lined. It is important that it be straightened, otherwise ugly folds may form on the surface of the frozen form!

First, the cement mass is laid out on the bottom of the pot. In this case, the thickness of the layer should not exceed 4-5 cm. It is convenient to measure the thickness of the layers with toothpicks or simple matches.

It will be possible to increase the strength characteristics of a large product due to reinforcing structure, which can be a wire frame. Partly to increase the strength will be due to the crushed fiberglass added to the composition of the solution.

Since we are making a large flowerpot, it will not be easy to knead the volume of concrete with our own hands. Based on this, it is more correct to knead the mixture fractionally. In the process of work, 4-5 batches may be required.

Do not forget about the drainage hole, which is performed by a film wrapped in a film pre-installed at the bottom of the pot.

If desired, flowerpots can be made and colorful. For this purpose, the concrete solution is divided into parts, into which various coloring substances are subsequently added. Multi-colored compositions are added in turn, resulting in a beautiful and unique element.

After the end of the laying of the mixture, the structure is covered with a film for 10 days. During this time, the concrete should finally harden and get stronger. However, if the design begins to dry out too quickly, then the product will have to be additionally moistened.

After 8 days, the element is checked. For this purpose, the walls of the flowerpot are tapped. A dull sound will indicate that the product is ready and can be removed from the mold.

The next step is to clean the walls with a metal brush, which eliminates the resulting irregularities. In the case of a too smooth surface, the opposite effect occurs, due to which the walls become more textured.

After that, the element is washed and dried. At the end, it is re-placed under the film for further hardening.

After 1-2 weeks, the concrete becomes lighter. After that, you just have to remove the film and place the outdoor flowerpot in its rightful place.

Little

With the help of a concrete composition, small structures for flowers are also perfectly made. In this case, absolutely any form is used, be it dishes, vases for vegetables and fruits, basins, buckets and even flower pots. The order of work remains the same.

Shaped leg design

To make this kind of product with your own hands, the following composition is used: 2 parts of high-moor peat and one part of vermiculite with gray cement.

The role of the base is played by a 5-liter plastic bottle, cut at the required height, and a wire frame from a fan.

The frame is covered with foil. So that the composition does not go between the rods too much, you will have to apply 3 layers of material. After the mixture hardens, you will get an interesting carved surface. At the end, the product will only have to be processed a little with a metal brush and the outdoor flowerpot with a leg will be almost finished.

Styrofoam

Styrofoam is one of the most common materials, and therefore often the owners of a country dwelling ask themselves: “How to make a street flowerpot out of polystyrene with your own hands?”

First of all, for the walls it is necessary to cut out rectangular blanks. Subsequently, they are reinforced adhesive composition. After that, the walls of the container are treated with several layers of plaster. At the same time, reinforcement with a plastic mesh is made.

After drying, the walls are cleaned of irregularities. The next step is painting work.

At the end, by means of decorative plaster, finishing layer , thanks to which the flowerpot will look as if poured from a concrete mixture.

From sticks

Obviously, in this case, thin sticks will be required for an outdoor flowerpot. An excellent solution could be ice cream sticks, which will be applied to wooden bars.

Thus, 4 sides are created, after which they are glued on both sides.

The finished surface is processed. As a result of such actions, we get a small decorative element for planting flowers.

Tiered structures made of silicate blocks

This option will look in the suburban area as unique and spectacular as possible, interestingly transforming the most boring vegetation.

The place formed inside the silicate blocks is perfect for planting and growing. different plants and flowers. It is worth noting that some manufacturers today even began to specially manufacture hollow elements designed for arranging and diversifying the suburban area.

When using silicate blocks in order to create a street flowerpot with your own hands, it is worthwhile to thoroughly think over the design of the future landscape element in advance so that it remains as stable as possible and allows you to place the plants necessary for planting inside. After that, the necessary material is bought.

Do not forget about the drainage, through which excess water will be removed. In addition, the base must also remain reliable and strong.

The base is glued to the first silicate blocks. After that, the whole structure is assembled. Blocks are fixed with glue.

Thus, tier by tier gradually develops. For greater strength, the first rows should be filled with soil.

Using car tires

Almost any waste materials are great for decorating a summer cottage. In our case, an old car tire will be used. Before you start creating a beautiful flowerpot, you need to accurately determine the size of the workpiece. For carved structures, it is best to take non-studded winter tires, which would be distinguished by its small thickness and softness.

The finished element in its appearance will partly resemble a flower. First of all, show jumping with chalk is planned on the side of the tire.

Adhering to the pattern, the details are carefully cut out with a shoe knife or a jigsaw. You can see the steps of the work in more detail in the video below.

After the petals are cut out, small longitudinal cuts are made in increments of 5-10 centimeters. Subsequently, they will greatly facilitate the eversion of the tire.

Obviously, it will be physically difficult to turn the tire out, but after turning at least one side, the work is significantly accelerated.

In the end, you will only need to somehow decorate the flowerpot. In addition to the method considered, today there are many other variations using a car tire.

From a plastic barrel

Using a 150-liter barrel, you can make several containers at once. In this case, it is necessary to make a mark in the middle, according to which the saw will be cut with a jigsaw.

After the edges of the barrel are processed through special tool, thus avoiding unpleasant burrs.

The finished workpiece is sheathed externally with an overlap or end-to-end with wooden planks. In this case, the nails must be hammered with a special tool, where the sharp edges are bent from the inside with a hammer.

The upper part is covered with planks located at a certain angle. Fixation is achieved by glue and nails.

Further wooden surface can be painted with any color or simply treated with varnish. On this flowerpot will be ready.

Decorative flowerpots will make the design garden plot finished. You can buy them at garden centers or make your own. Consider ways to make a flowerpot with your own hands from various materials.

Do-it-yourself flowerpot from a stump

To make a street flowerpot from a stump with your own hands, you first need to choose a suitable tree. It can be a thick base of the trunk or a small snag. The decorativeness of the flowerpot depends on the shape of the tree and the texture of its surface.

They start making a flowerpot with their own hands with a definition sizes. Optimal height is forty centimeters. The excess is cut off with a chainsaw. In this case, an even cut is obtained and the bark, which adorns the surface of the future flowerpot, is not damaged.

A circle is marked on the surface of the hemp. Internal content drilled out using a cone-shaped drill. First, holes are made ten centimeters deep around the entire perimeter, then the wood is knocked out with a mechanical chisel and the walls are finished with an ordinary chisel.

The inner surface of such a garden flowerpot is processed wood stain. To do this, the composition is poured into a small glass and applied with a paint brush to all surfaces of the product, trying not to leave unpainted areas. Additionally, you can use various decorative elements.

The resulting chumps we nail to the dried and processed bottom. For it, you can use a cut that is suitable in diameter. Between themselves, parts of one circle are connected by a construction stapler with inside. The next row is placed so that the seams are constantly shifting. Between themselves, the rows are also connected with a stapler.

From cement with the addition of other components, you can make both large flowerpots for flowers with your own hands, and relatively small ones.

To make a large flowerpot you will need plastic mold with parameters 53 cm in diameter and 23 cm in height.

Solution we make from two parts of white cement, one part of perlite (agroperlite) and two parts of high-moor peat. As a measuring container, you can take a one and a half liter bucket. A mixture of three components is diluted with water until a mass of thick consistency is obtained.

Since such a flowerpot will be quite heavy, it is better to make it immediately in a permanent place.

To make a do-it-yourself cement flowerpot, we take a plastic pot, which is a form, and line it thin film. Cellophane must be straightened so that incomprehensible folds are not printed on the surface.

First, put the solution on the bottom. The thickness of the layer should be approximately four or five centimeters. To control the thickness, matches or toothpicks are great.

To increase the strength of such a large product, you can install metal wire frame or other reinforcing structure. You can add about a handful of crushed fiberglass to it to strengthen the composition. Since the flowerpot is large enough, and it is difficult to knead large volumes of the cement composition with your hands, you will have to do it fractionally. It will take about four or five batches.

Do not forget when making garden flowerpots with your own hands and about drainage hole. It is made by laying a cork wrapped in a film on the bottom.

Can this pot be made colorful. To do this, the cement mixture is divided into parts. They add different dyes. A multi-colored mixture is placed alternately on the inner surface, which makes the finished container motley.

After the entire surface is lined with a mixture, the product is closed cellophane film and leave for about ten days. During this time, the cement mixture will harden and gain strength. If the product dries out too quickly, then it will need to be moistened.

Readiness is checked after eight days. To do this, tap on the surface of the cement. If the sound is not deaf, then the flowerpot is removed from the mold along with the film.

After brushing, the flowerpot is washed with water and slightly dried. Next, his words are wrapped in a film so that the mixture continues to harden.

After about a week or two, the material will take on a lighter shade. This is a sign that it is time to remove the film, and put the flowerpot in its final place.

small cement vases

From such a cement mixture, you can also make small flowerpots with your own hands. They take any form. These can be old fruit vases, flower pots and buckets, basins and dishes. The manufacturing technology is the same as for a large flowerpot.

Flowerpot on a leg with a figured surface

To make such a flowerpot with your own hands, use a mixture of the following components. Take one part of gray cement, one part of vermiculite and two parts of high-moor peat.

Wire is taken as the basis fan frame and a five-liter plastic bottle, which is cut at the desired height.

The frame from the fan is lined with a film. It will take three layers so that the mixture does not squeeze between the rods too much. After the mixture hardens, you get the original carved surface. It only needs to be lightly treated with a metal brush and a flowerpot made of cement with your own hands is almost ready.

Flowerpots from car tires. Instruction step by step

To decorate personal plot practically waste materials can also be used, for example, old car tires. To make flowerpots from tires with your own hands, you should choose raw material the right sizes. Winter non-studded tires, which are softer and thinner, are best suited for creating carved products.

Consider how to make a pot of tires with your own hands, similar to a flower. To do this, first draw a contour on the side of the tire with chalk.

When the petals are cut into the tire, small longitudinal cuts are made. They are at a distance of five or ten centimeters from each other and facilitate the process of eversion of the tire.

It is not easy to unscrew the product. This requires physical effort, but after turning at least small plot, the process is accelerating.

After that, it remains only to decorate the finished product. There are other options for making flowerpots from tires with your own hands.

Do-it-yourself flowerpot for a garden from a plastic barrel

From a large barrel of one hundred and fifty liters, two containers can be obtained at once. To do this, in the middle of the barrel, mark the place of the cut, along which they are sawn into two parts. jigsaw.

The edges processed with a special tool so that there are no burrs.

Outside, two are attached to the bottom bar to make the pot easier to move.

The resulting workpiece is sheathed wooden planks. They can be placed end to end or overlapped.

Nails are hammered with a special gun. From the inside they are bent with a hammer.

Top rim made from boards connected at an angle. Attach it with nails and glue.

Wooden trim can be varnished or painted in a suitable color. The flowerpot is ready, you can plant flowers in it.

Flowerpots made of silicate blocks with several tiers

This design option looks impressive and makes even the most familiar plants unusual.

The cavities inside the blocks are great for planting and growing plants. Some manufacturers even began to produce special hollow elements for landscape design.

To make outdoor flowerpots from silicate blocks with your own hands, you should think over the design so that it is stable and has enough space for plants. Next, the necessary material is acquired.

The blocks should have drainage, to get rid of excess water. The base is chosen strong enough.

The base is glued to the bottom of the silicate blocks. Then, a structure is assembled from the resulting elements. Blocks are interconnected with glue.

Gradually building tiers, it is necessary to fill the lower ones with earth.

Small vases from sticks

Required to work thin sticks, for example, from ice cream. They are glued to wood. bars.

By repeating the processes, three more sides are made.

Then the sticks are glued on top on both sides.

The surface of the resulting container is ground and painted.

It turns out a small flowerpot in which a container with flowers is placed.

Do-it-yourself polystyrene flowerpot

Styrofoam is a common material and people are often interested in how to make a flowerpot with their own hands from it.

First, cut out rectangular blanks for walls that are connected with glue with self-tapping screws. The container is then covered plaster mixture in several layers with plastic mesh reinforcement. When the mixture dries, the surface is cleaned of irregularities. The next step is painting. After that, a finishing layer of decorative plaster is applied. The product looks like it is cast from concrete.

A vase from a pallet. Master Class

You can make a garden flowerpot with your own hands from wooden pallet. To do this, it is carefully disassembled into boards.

All boards with a length of 80 cm are cut in half. The boards are 120 cm long, we mark them into three parts of 38 cm each and cut them, making a beveled cut at an angle of thirty degrees.

We connect boards with oblique cuts using self-tapping screws. It turns out a hexagon. We attach a leg to each of its boards.

Similarly, we assemble the second hexagon.

We collect the bottom of the flowerpot. To do this, we attach a transverse board between the legs. We lay the bottom boards on it and fasten them to the edges of the hexagon with self-tapping screws.

It turns out a solid structure, which should be treated with an antiseptic. You can decorate it in any way.

Ennobling the site country house or cottages, you can use different techniques of landscape design. Some people like rockeries, others just need to decorate the space with small details. Take at least a flowerpot: filled flowering plants he looks unique. At the same time, this product can be made by hand: we understand the intricacies of the process.

Kinds

A concrete flowerpot is a small decorative vase architectural form which can be made from different materials. This is a beautiful pot for plants and flowers. It helps gardeners in the cultivation of particularly sensitive plants, allows you to choose the optimal composition of the soil for each of them. Carries a flowerpot and a decorative load: through it you can place bright accents in the landscape space, emphasizing the uniqueness of the garden.

Existing varieties are divided into several categories. Vases are:

  • street (garden);
  • room;
  • decorative.

Each type has its own characteristics, although in general the properties of the varieties are identical: the difference lies in the size, the material used in each case. For example, flower girls for summer cottages are often medium in size.

If the landscape space is large, you can use outdoor varieties for flowers: they are larger, often higher, so the plants in them often hang down, creating an indescribable atmosphere of antiquity.

Decorative models are smaller, they are exhibited at the entrance, they are a kind of component to give the interior of the landscape the right atmosphere. Options small size often move, so they are mobile. Large models often resemble flower beds, differing in shallow depth.

materials

The main material in the creation of a flowerpot is concrete. This composition consists of:

  • crushed stone;
  • sand;
  • cement;
  • water;
  • special additives.

The binder component is Portland cement, which includes the clinker of the same name, gypsum, slag, ash, pozzolans and other mineral inclusions. Other varieties of Portland cement are expanded clay concrete (crushed stone is replaced with expanded clay), or sand concrete (different fraction sand performs the function of aggregates). Water for mixing the composition can be different: drinking, ground, technical, sea (not suitable for reinforced concrete flowerpots).

In addition to the main raw materials, auxiliary and decorative ones are used in the work. The first category includes improvised means with which you can make a flowerpot. These are a variety of items that can be used as a flowerpot shape, as well as a load that allows you to achieve the desired thickness of the product. Some of the most interesting and unexpected solutions include:

  • large and small empty food boxes;
  • used plastic bottles and buckets left after repair;
  • old basins, buckets, tubs;

  • rubber gloves for cleaning (high density);
  • wooden boards, cardboard, dishes;
  • metal rods, wire;
  • old towels, rags or other fabric of a rectangular, square, round, oval shape;
  • old shoes, children's toys of the right size;
  • boxes of furniture that has fallen into disrepair.

Mostly small stones are used as a load: due to their size, they perfectly fill the internal part necessary to give the flowerpot a shape, and are also an oppression with a low weight. This raw material can be found in any garden or plot of a country house. If there are problems with finding it, you can use sand, which is also heavy with a small volume.

If there is no sand on the site, a part of the dry cement composition can be used for work, hermetically packing it in several plastic bags before the work process.

decorative elements concrete vase depend on the stylistic idea. AT classic version a flowerpot may not have a decor at all: a bet can be made on the unusual shape, because the abundance of decor does not always look harmoniously with flowers or other plants that will be in a flowerpot. The most interesting raw materials for finishing are glass, coins, small multi-colored pebbles, rhinestones, mirror fragments, stained glass and paints.

Creative connoisseurs use natural materials in their work, conveying the unique texture (for example, green leaves) of the concrete surface.

Sizes and shapes

The shape of the flowerpot today is not subject to any standards. It is not limited in size, a concrete flower vase can be:

Dimensions at the same time vary from 20 cm and more. Some varieties can reach a length of more than 1 meter, a width of 60–120 cm.

The form of products is divided into the usual classic and non-standard. The first category includes concrete flowerpots geometric shapes(round, square, rectangular, hexagonal, octagonal, oval varieties).

The second group cannot be confused with anything - flowerpots can be represented as:

  • silhouette of a fairy tale character;
  • parts of the sculpture (for example, it can be hands holding flowers);
  • couples of hearts different sizes;
  • openwork stone bowl;
  • corrugated vase;

  • stars with a different number of ends and a round base;
  • men's shoe, boot or elegant women's shoes;
  • a charming kitten, lamb or other animal;
  • wicker baskets with a long handle;
  • iris flower, lotus;
  • stylized as a magic totem.

At the same time, the complexity of creation may not lie in experience, but in lack of patience. Any product can be made independently at a professional level. The process includes:

  • the availability of the necessary raw materials, finishes, sketches (for complex models);
  • preparation of a solution of the desired consistency;
  • compliance with process technology;
  • maintaining the prescribed time for drying the concrete base;
  • shape correction (for washed concrete options);
  • decorating or painting a flowerpot.

Necessary tools and mixtures

For the workflow that is carried out in the summer, you will not need so many materials if you decide in advance on the appearance, think over the raw materials, decor and frame. Depending on the specific case, cement, sand or a ready-made mixture is used. Water and composition should always be at hand: sometimes the composition is dense, so it needs to be brought to the desired consistency

In other cases, the mass should not spread, this is necessary for models that perform like sculpting.

If the sand is not homogeneous, a special sieve may be needed to work. Cement is preferable to choose at least M-400. Such a composition will fit well, will not cause difficulties in the process. In addition to it, you may need:

  • polyethylene film;
  • frame raw materials (what will serve as the basis or form);
  • ready-made stencils, anti-stencils;
  • gloves, spatula;
  • metal pipe (for drainage);
  • capacity for mixing concrete;
  • non-stick spray (VD-40 grease or engine oil);
  • paints and brushes, as well as a knife for cutting and adjusting the pattern.

Some home craftsmen even use the tile adhesive left after laying the wall or floor tiles. Due to perfectly balanced proportions and uniformity, such material mixes perfectly with other components without forming lumps.

Everyone chooses the finish on their own: it is enough to decorate the surface with pebbles of various shapes, leaving the dominant place of decor to live flowers. Others start work to demonstrate design skills, decorating the surface with carved ornaments, for example, in an Indian theme. At the same time, plants in this tandem look no less stylish.

How to do: step by step master class

Whatever model you conceive, the technology for its manufacture will follow approximately the same processes. The difference may lie in the number of steps: the more complex the product, the more steps. This is especially true for products that require molding. To analyze the essence of the work, consider the general technology, and then several options for making a stylish concrete flowerpot. This will allow you to understand why the steps in the master classes are different.

The solution is kneaded in a consistency, as for laying tiles: the mass does not spread, while it is not thick. If the composition is planned to be impregnated, it must be more liquid, otherwise it will not be able to completely impregnate the desired form. More often to give desired shape use two containers. One of them is filled with mortar, the other is inserted into the mortar and filled with oppression (heavy objects, sand) so that the concrete rises along the edges of the original form.

So that the cement can be separated from the main form, a large container chosen as the basis is treated inside with a lubricant. For this purpose, you can use plastic wrap, however, it is not always possible to straighten it perfectly, so production flaws can be seen on finished product. The second form is treated with lubricant from the outside (in the place where it comes into contact with the solution). General instruction is:

  • concrete material is poured to the bottom of more capacity, while the average layer thickness should be 3–4 cm;
  • if necessary, the bottom layer is leveled with a spatula - then this will not work;
  • for drainage, insert chopped into small pieces metal pipe, treated on the outside with grease;
  • a smaller form is installed on metal segments, filled with sand or other cargo (gravel, crushed stone), prepared in advance;

  • after fixing the second container, the concrete mortar is poured between the forms, not forgetting to pierce it with a thin metal rod (so that there are no air bubbles left in it);
  • trim the upper edge of the future flowerpot with a spatula or an ordinary spoon;
  • the workpiece is covered with polyethylene and left for at least a day (until it dries completely);
  • after drying, remove all unnecessary elements (if necessary, they are broken if the structure has metal carcass, auxiliary parts are carefully removed);
  • flower girls are immersed in water for 1 week (large products are abundantly sprayed with water 4 times a day and covered with a film, repeating this for 10–14 days);
  • after the lapse of the necessary time, the flowerpots will remain to be decorated and painted.

If inserts into the surface are planned (for example, mirror fragments or stones), they are pressed into the material when the concrete is still pliable. The same applies to stencils: you need to press down the form at the moment the concrete hardens.

Let's go briefly through different types manufacturing.

Flowerpot-sculpture

To make a charming flowerpot-cat, you will need 6 wooden supports (you can use the legs from old stools) and a plastic container for the body. The supports are fixed to the container by means of aluminum wire, constructing paws from 4, and the tail and head from the remaining two. Then the inner space of the flowerpot is finished with concrete, the outer space is sculpted. For the head, you can use any object of a round shape.

They work with the material gradually, otherwise the mass risks falling off the base. When the solution hardens, you need to sand the surface. Then it is necessary to paint the form in the color you like, giving the cat the original color. You can varnish the product on top.

From plastic containers

This method is the simplest. Used 5 liter bottles cut to desired height, then concrete is poured to the bottom. A round shape is often inserted inside, following the basic technology, filling it with sand in a bag or gravel. Some flowerpots, when solidified, have a ready-made embossed pattern in the form of transverse stripes left by the mold larger capacity. Others look original, differing in the curly shape of the edge.

From fabric

No less simple to manufacture is a flowerpot made of textiles or an old towel. To create it, you will need a container for kneading, a cloth, a bucket and a support. Everything is extremely simple here: the fabric is dipped into a concrete solution until completely impregnated, then hung on a bucket, put on a support. If necessary, you can immediately correct the edges of the future flowerpot by cutting them, or bending them to the sides, like flower petals, when the solution begins to solidify.

There can be a lot of options for fabrics, as well as the structure of the material: the flowerpot can turn out to be airy, openwork.

If you use towels, the drawing will have an original relief. Can be impregnated concrete mortar Different things. For example, it can be a regular woven bag with strings, a scarf, or old jeans.

Some people like paper (for example, the shape of a box): this material, after the solution hardens, takes on the original texture. Its production does not differ from the main technology. Moreover, the shape itself can be varied: the box can have concave, convex side faces, or asymmetry. The main rule of all materials is free access to the removal of used devices, otherwise it will be problematic to separate the workpiece from the base.

Finishing

Finishing a concrete flowerpot is a creative and exciting process. It is not enough to complete the form: it needs to be given an attractive appearance. To do this, concrete is often washed out, giving the surface a unique texture. Another finishing technique is interspersed different materials. The design can be very diverse: painting the product in bronze or gilding will give the product a vintage touch. The white type of surface will successfully fit into the garden interior, which has statues, or will be an independent accent of the site.
