Installing the hob in the worktop. Do-it-yourself hob installation

To change the interior of the kitchen, to make it more functional, beautiful and modern. It is necessary to treat this process with the utmost responsibility. Replacing a headset is only half the battle. It is impossible to imagine a kitchen without a modern household appliances, which will facilitate the work of the hostess. Installation hob only at first glance it seems a simple matter that anyone can easily cope with. The slightest mistake can ruin a complex expensive technique .. Therefore, it is best to enlist the support of professionals.

Installing the hob: The first step is to mark out.

It is necessary to understand that without correct markup it is impossible to install the equipment properly. We can say with absolute certainty that poor-quality markings can negate all your efforts to modernize the premises. It ensures that all the holes made then will exactly match the required parameters and will ensure a high-quality work. Any countertop costs a lot, so the slightest inaccuracy will surely become a prerequisite for additional financial investments.

Buying a new countertop, especially if it was made from fine wood, will result in significant costs. The price of the hob installation service depends on many factors. Often people draw a pencil around the panel laid on the countertop, and make the holes by eye. Professionals never do that. Accurate measurement of all parameters, impeccable marking of each position to the millimeter will ensure the perfect appearance and reliability of the new equipment. The stages of a good markup include several steps.

Transfer the inner space of the cabinet to the surface of the worktop. To do this, draw parallel lines with a marker or soft pencil, exactly corresponding to the boundaries of the internal partitions. You should get a perfect rectangle. Connecting the corners, we find the exact center where the cross is drawn. One line should be parallel to the front and back lines, and the other - to the side. It is best to use a construction square for this.

Having drawn your coordinate system, it is necessary to transfer the dimensions of the embedded panel elements to it with the utmost care. It is required to make holes with a small margin, which will help to accurately center the device. After marking and checking their exact correspondence with the initial data, we draw parallel lines, which, after connecting them, will be a hole in which, after cutting, the hob will exactly fit.

It is important! In order for the hole to be perfectly even and not go beyond the edges of the equipment being mounted, you need to mark it slowly, using quality tools... You need to cut a hole electric jigsaw, which makes it possible to make the cut straight.

How to perform all the work efficiently?

You can use an electric jigsaw, drill or manual milling machine to cut holes of a given size in the monolith of the tabletop. Our specialists have necessary equipment and guarantee the high quality of work.

By the way! In order to cut a bore hole with a drill, you need to stock up on several drills with a diameter of 8-10 millimeters and, following the marking contour, drill as many holes as possible with a minimum distance from each other. After that, with the same drill, all the holes are gradually connected. The main thing is to work on the inner contour of the marking. To prevent the cut out from damaging the floor, place a stool or cardboard box in this place.

By using a jigsaw, you can get the hole you want much faster with flawlessly straight edges. However, you cannot do without a drill, since you need to make the first hole where you can insert the tool file. A dedicated stock and built-in ruler help you get the job done quickly. You just need to take care that the dropped piece does not damage the floor.

It is best to use a milling machine. It is ideal for such work, but only a well-trained specialist who knows how to work with such a tool can use it. After making the hole, before installing the hob, take care of high-quality waterproofing... During operation, steam and water will inevitably destroy the countertop. It is best to use silicone for protection. It is easy to apply, flexible and does not lose its properties with prolonged use.

Steps for fixing and connecting equipment when installing the hob.

A simple instruction on the sequence of work performed will help you get a complete picture of how the installation should be carried out so that the equipment can be operated for a long time without additional repair costs.

It is required to immediately connect the gas hose, since then it will be quite difficult to do this. Need to install in union nut paranite washer. After that, we screw it securely to the existing pipe. It can be found at the bottom of the brewhouse. In order for the connection to be as reliable as possible, the paranite should be lubricated with graphite grease or grease.

It is required to glue the entire perimeter of the cut hole with sealing tape. It is included with store-bought equipment. It is necessary to glue the surface of the countertop with a continuous layer. When cornering, we simply bend the tape without breaking it. The self-adhesive tape will stick tightly in the right place. You only need to gradually peel off the protective paper layer. It is best if you make a small overlap at the junction so that there is no gap.

The hob fits snugly into the cut-out hole and is centered so that the front looks perfect, without distortion. Then with inside four special plates are screwed in the corners with self-tapping screws. They provide a tight connection between the equipment and the worktop. It is required to tighten the screws as tightly as possible, but be careful not to strip the threads.

Connection to the gas distribution system.

It must be remembered that any work related to installation gas equipment, are carried out exclusively by representatives of gas services. Otherwise, fines cannot be avoided. Even replacing a conventional valve requires shutting off the gas supply in the riser and then testing and obtaining a special permit for use. We take care of all technical, organizational issues and guarantee that all work will be performed in strict accordance with safety requirements. Electrical connection.The installation of the hob in Moscow or the region is carried out by us in strict accordance with existing technological standards. To provide power, you must use a moisture-proof outlet. It is pre-mounted on the inside of the headset. It is best to entrust the connection of complex equipment to professionals. This will help to avoid the occurrence of malfunctions.

Installing a hob requires high professionalism. We can give a full guarantee that after the completion of the work you will not have to think about repairs soon. If the house wiring does not seem to be reliable, it is best to install automatic system protection, which will prevent electric shock in the event of a short circuit.

Idea self installation the hob can be somewhat intimidating. After all, you will have to deal with either electricity or gas and at the same time work with quite expensive kitchen equipment... However, none of the steps to install the hob is particularly difficult. You just need to do everything carefully and in the correct sequence from the beginning to the end.

Steps

Installing the electric hob

    Remove the old hob, if any. If you are replacing an old hob, first you need to remove it. Cut off the electricity v switchboard... Remove any attachments from the hob and clean off any existing sealant. Disconnect the wires, remembering how the old hob was connected, and remove the hob from the hole in which it sat.

    Make sure you have enough space in the location chosen for the hob. Ideally, you should have a 76 cm gap above the hob with free place approx. 30-60 cm. You should also make sure that there is enough space under the worktop to accommodate your new hob.

    Make sure there is junction box to connect the hob to the mains. Most electric hobs require a direct connection to the mains via a 220 V junction box. If you are replacing the hob, you probably already have a junction box.

    Measure the hob and make sure it fits into the old hole. If you are replacing the hob, there should already be a hole in the worktop and you just need to make sure it fits the new hob.

    Adjust the hole for the hob to fit into it. The hole on each side should be 1.5-2.5 cm smaller than the hob. If you do not have a hole for the hob yet, or it is too small, then you will need to cut it to the required size. If the existing hole is too large, then metal sheets can be screwed on the sides to reduce it.

    Remove all removable parts from the hob to make it easier for you to put it back in place. The hob may have removable burners, protective screens and other parts that should be temporarily put aside. Also, remember to remove all packing materials from the hob.

    Install the clamps. They are designed to fix the hob. You should hang them from the top edge of the slot and then screw them down.

    Lower the hob into the opening. Lower the new hob into the hole, making sure to insert the wires first. Press down on the hob until you hear the locking clips click.

    Connect the hob wires to the mains. Electricity should still be turned off when doing this so you don't get an electric shock. Connect the hob wires to the corresponding wires in the junction box.

    Refit the previously removed removable parts on the hob. Replace the burners, protective shields and other removable parts.

    Turn on the electricity and check the hob is working. Turn on the power to the hob to check that everything is working properly.

    Open all cooking zones for a few minutes. Despite the fact that you have turned off the gas, it may still remain in the hose. Open all burners to release the gas. Don't light it on fire. All gas will be released in a few minutes.

    Disconnect the flexible gas supply hose from the stationary gas line using two wrenches. Take one wrench and install it on the hose nut and the other wrench on the fixed gas line nut.

    Remove all removable parts from the hob. Remove hotplates, protective shields and other removable parts before proceeding. This will make it easier to move the hob.

    Remove the clips holding the existing hob in place. Unscrew the clips on the underside of the old hob.

    Push the hob from below to raise it. Remove the hob from the worktop and place in safe place... Remember that the gas hose is still connected to it.

    Disconnect the gas hose from the old hob. If you will be using an old gas hose to connect a new hob, you must disconnect it from the old hob. Use two wrenches to do this, placing one on the hob and the other on the hose nut.

    • To disconnect the hose, turn the hose nut counterclockwise.
  1. Connect the gas hose to the new hob. Use a gas sealant by applying it to the threads where the hose and the hob join. Apply sealant generously to the threads, but so that it does not get into the hose. Use a wrench to screw the gas hose nut onto the hob.

    Place the new hob in its place. Lower the hob carefully into the opening so as not to damage any of the connections at the bottom. Before lowering the hob into the opening, you must pass the gas hose through it forward.

    Connect the gas hose to the stationary gas pipe. Apply sealant to the threads of the gas pipe fitting. Then twist wrench gas hose nut. Be sure to tighten the nut tightly.

    Prepare a soapy solution. Prepare a solution of 1 part dish soap and 1 part water to check for gas leaks. Stir the solution thoroughly and then either spray on the gas connections or apply with a brush. Turn on the gas supply valve by placing it in the position in which its handle indicates the direction of gas supply.

    Switch on the cooking zones and test them. If a soapy water test shows no leaks, try lighting the burners. It may take a few seconds for the gas to come up and ignite as normal air must first come out of the hose.

  2. Attach the hob mounting brackets to the worktop. When you are sure that the hob is working, attach it to the worktop using the fixing brackets. Your hob is now fully installed.

    • Replace the doors and drawers of the cabinet under the hob and all of its contents.

Thinking about self-production kitchen furniture? Then it's time for you to find out that making it is only half the battle, and the second half of this business is to complete the furniture with all kinds of equipment. These are both built-in washing and dishwashers, and a sink, and an oven, and, of course, the hob, which will be discussed in this article. Together with the site, we will deal with the question of how to install the hob with our own hands and how to connect it to the home gas pipeline and electrical wiring.

Installing the hob: marking the installation site

Markup is perhaps the most important stage work associated with installing the hob with your own hands, which, oddly enough, has the most nuances. Judge for yourself - the whole appearance of the kitchen depends on how clearly and accurately you can mark, and then cut a hole for the hob. This is exactly the case in which an error of one centimeter can be irreparable - you always need to keep in mind the cost. Buying a new one isn't all that cheap. The fact is that the panel itself must fit clearly above the curbstone, and there is practically no margin in width there.
There are two ways to mark the bore hole - you can simply lay it on the tabletop, center it on the peephole and circle it with a pencil, or go the way of professionals and calculate everything down to a millimeter. Naturally, it is better to choose the second option for solving the issue, since in this case the chances of making a mistake are minimal. This is done as follows.

Now it's just a small matter - cut and install the hob into the hole. We will talk about this further. For those who do not like to read and delve into what has been written, we attach a video on installing the hob in the worktop.

Installing a gas hob: two ways to cut a hole

You can cut a hole for the hob using three different electric tools - a jigsaw, a drill or a hand-held milling machine. The most accurate and beautiful cut is obtained using a hand mill, but you don't even need to ask about the presence of it in the home workshop of a person who is not associated with construction. Not everyone can find a jigsaw either, but at least it is not very expensive, and you can buy it for these works. Well, almost every household man has a drill. Let's start with it, but first I will warn about the quality of the hole obtained with the drill - it can be said to be disgusting. It is quite difficult to seal torn edges, but this must be done, and problems will arise in this regard. In principle, they can be solved, but more on that later.

After the hole is ready, it is imperative to waterproof it - if water or even just moisture gets into the end of the countertop, there is a very high probability that the material from which it is made will swell and the countertop will deteriorate. Typically, the end of the cutout is treated with silicone. If you cut a hole with a drill, then it will be quite difficult to do it efficiently - you have to tinker.

Installing the electric hob: fixing and connecting

To make it easier to understand how the hob is installed in the hole of the countertop, we represent it in the form of a sequence of work - so to speak, in the form of a small, but clear instructions on the installation of the hob.

Basically, that's it. The electric hob is mounted in exactly the same way. The only exception is the absence of a gas hose in it. There may, of course, be other nuances - for example, if we talk about a hob dependent on the hob, here the installation process looks somewhat different. To begin with, and then the panel, which is connected directly to the oven itself.

Basically, that's it. Now judge for yourself whether this work is difficult or not. You will cope with it yourself, or perhaps contact the specialists. In general, based on experience, I can say that most people who are wondering how to install the hob with their own hands, cope with this work easily. In fact, it is not difficult, and all that is needed for the successful completion of the case is to clearly observe all the subtleties and nuances.

If you want to make repairs in your kitchen, you can independently replace the stove with a hob. Today, a modern and functional solution for every kitchen is to install the hob in the worktop with your own hands. In addition, you can make a combination that will consist of oven and the hob, so you don't lose anything at all. In this article, we will tell you in detail how to independently install the hob in the worktop, without resorting to the help of specialists.

If you have ever had to do repairs at your dacha or in an apartment, or you were engaged in construction, then it will be correct to install the hob in the worktop a simple matter For you. It is enough to accurately measure its thickness and dimensions during installation. Well, let's get started.

In order to properly install the hob yourself, you need to know how to cut a hole in the worktop. Everything required sizes are noted in the instructions on the diagram, do not invent anything new. So, you will speed up the process and significantly reduce the possible measurement errors. Measurements, it is possible to make yourself, for this you need to put hob bottom to top, then find out the length and width of the surface on the sides inside.

Note that the instructions write the minimum allowed indents from the edge of the tabletop. You can make the size of the indents a little larger, since the narrow edges can break after a while. It is necessary to make markings on the surface of the table in accordance with the dimensions and thickness of the hob. This is where you will embed it. To keep the lines visible and more visible on the surface dark color, you can glue strips of paper tape, and transfer each line to them.

Then you need to drill a hole from which the cut begins. Cutouts are made with an electric jigsaw. So that the edges of the cutout are even and do not crumble around the edges, it is advisable to use hand milling cutter, and the rounding of the corners is done with a radius cutter, while each cut must be sanded. You can collect the resulting sawdust with a vacuum cleaner.

Once you've finished working on the hole, take your hob and make sure you cut it out correctly. If you carefully cut the hole, the surface will easily fit into the resulting cutout.

We seal and seal

Before installation, it is necessary to process the sections of the countertop with a silicone sealant or nitro varnish. So, you will protect the surface of the countertop from water, dirt stains, swelling and extend its service life. You can also use a seal for installation, since it glues itself and performs the same role.

Place the self-adhesive seal on top, with the edges of the surface resting on it. You can also use aluminum tape for sealing, which, by the way, protects against temperature fluctuations. If the seal is High Quality, then the hole in the countertop will serve you longer, it will not need to be repaired or replaced.

Also, the installation differs depending on the type of panel - they are gas and electric, plus separate fastening characteristics. You can fasten the fastening parts with screws.

Today's electrical panels are highly functional when correct installation surface, they rarely fail, therefore, for a long period they do not need renovation work... When repairs are nevertheless needed, the panel quickly detaches and refers to the master on its own, or the repair can be done on your own, thanks to which you save your money on calling a specialist.

Before installing the hob, place it on the worktop, turn it over and connect the wires according to the diagram. You can find the diagram on the back of the panel, this is done for your convenience. It is necessary to take into account not only its size, but its thickness. When you install and connect yourself, then take good care. If you connect the wires incorrectly, then you will not then adjust the burners and their heating value.

In the case when to connect the brewhouse electrical panel there is a special panel wire, then you do not need a socket or a plug. It is enough to connect the panel to the wire. The induction hob is connected in the same way.

When installing a gas hob with your own hands, you need to see the type of fastening. Do not forget about the thickness and dimensions of the hob. Then it must be installed, aligned along the edge of the tabletop, and then secured. As a rule, the kit includes brackets for fastening, they are located at the bottom. Electrical wire plugs into an outlet.

To connect a gas hob with your own hands, you need to carefully study the safety rules. The gas is shut off, after which the hob is connected with a flexible hose to the gas pipe. A paronite gasket must be placed in the nut. Then turn on the gas and burners, check the hose connections so that there are no leaks. To do this, you need to soap all the joints, if the foam does not have bubbles, there are no leaks, the installation is done correctly. In addition, gas analyzers are used for testing.

If you do everything correctly, then there should be no problems when installing the hob. The main thing is that you do not rush and do the job efficiently, taking into account all the nuances of installation.

An integral part of the kitchen is gas stove followed by ideal option the husband is standing and preparing breakfast for his wife. Non-classic gas or electric stoves, and the hobs. Their convenience lies in their compactness and the possibility of a separate installation of the oven. But installing them on the countertop will make an inexperienced master sweat. Is it possible to fix such a module on your own and what is needed for this? This will be discussed in the article.

Varieties of hobs

All hobs can be divided into two large groups. The power source unites these groups; it can be:

  • electricity;

By outward appearance hobs that are connected to the gas main are practically no different from conventional slabs... An option for such modules can be an automatic start system, which can be autonomous or dependent on electricity. In the first case, it is represented by a piezoelectric element, which in the right moment gives a spark. Gas hobs may vary in size for better usability.

Electric hobs can be of two types:

  • classic;
  • induction.

In a classic hob, the role of a burner is played by a heating element or another a heating element... Such a module is cheaper and is not particularly economical. Induction hobs are the dream of every modern housewife. The essence of the operation of the product is to heat the product due to electromagnetic field... Moreover, if you put your hand on a working burner, then you will not feel anything. A metal pan with a thick bottom is required for the product to function properly. In this case, the material from which the dishes are made must be magnetic. The installation process for each of these surfaces is very similar. The difference lies only in the need to connect the gas hose for the first version of the stove.

Installation tool

The entire installation process does not take much time and requires a tool that you may already have in your arsenal. home master... Among the main tools are:

  • screwdriver or drill;
  • electric jigsaw;
  • roulette;
  • marker or pencil;
  • silicone sealant.

Additionally, you may need a level or a long metal ruler to make it easier to draw straight lines.

Preparatory stage

If it comes on the hob, which is powered by electrical network, then preparatory stage will consist in the power supply. The average power consumption of such modules is within 3.2 kW. This means that an ordinary but good outlet will be enough for connection. If the socket was not installed in advance, then you can purchase an invoice option, since it will be easier to mount and not needed additional tool in the form of a punch or drill with a crown. The cable for such an outlet must go directly from the distribution board.

This step is being taken in order to provide such a powerful device with a separate circuit breaker who would control his work. The rated current for which the machine must be calculated is 16 amperes. The best solution will install a differential automaton that is able to catch the slightest leaks. The socket is mounted slightly below the table top. This is done not for greater convenience of connection, but so that moisture and fats do not get on it during cooking. The socket must be grounded in case of a short circuit.

Note! It should be noted that standard socket withstands a load of 3.5 kW and a current of 16 amperes.

Step-by-step instruction

An important step during the installation of the hob in the worktop is the marking. Usually, the manufacturer in the technical documentation that comes with the hob indicates what should be the dimensions of the hole for installation. One of the options would be to make a sample from cardboard, which can be used to draw the outline of the future hole. There is another option, how you can make the markup, it can be seen in the photo below.

Place the hob on a worktop but turn it upside down. She will be an example. It must be located in the place where the direct installation will be carried out. The photo clearly shows that it is important to make a small gap from the edge of the countertop to the hob. Usually it is about 5 cm. It is done so that the edge of the cooking surface is not damaged from constant interaction with it.

The next step, as shown in the photo, is to apply the markings. To do this, the hob is simply traced in a circle with a pencil. The lines must be accurate so that they do not have to be redrawn several times, since this will only confuse you later.

The photo shows that the hob has a small protrusion, thanks to which it is fixed in the hole. This protrusion has a certain dimension that must be taken into account. It is also important to mark it on the contour of the future hole, as shown in the photo below.

In this case, it is necessary to make a small gap. If the protrusion has a length of 15 mm, then the size of the hob must only move 10 mm away from the main line. A 5 mm gap is required for smooth installation of the hob into the prepared hole.

After making the markings for the hob, it is necessary to prepare the holes to make it easier to cut the required part. Holes are drilled with a drill or screwdriver at four corners. In this case, it is necessary to ensure that the drill does not damage the facade or other elements. kitchen set... The diameter of the drill should be such that the file fits freely into the hole.

To continue the process of installing the hob, you will need a jigsaw. His file is inserted into the prepared hole and the cut is made. It is important to remember that you need to cut along the inner line, not along the outer line. If a mistake is made, then the surface will simply fall into the hole without fixing.

In the process of work, it is necessary to remove sawdust in a timely manner so that they do not overlap the cutting line, since you can easily get off it and damage the tabletop. During the cut, it is necessary to ensure that the file does not damage the walls of the cabinets or their surface. Before going through the last side, it is necessary to provide the tabletop with sufficient support so that the nail file does not bite, and also so that part of the tabletop does not fall on the leg.

Once the hole is complete, you can try on the hob to make sure it fits properly.

The process does not end there. The table top is most often made from chipboard. If moisture gets on it, then it swells and deforms. When cooking on the hob, such a scenario is inevitable, so it is important to protect the place that has lost the laminated layer. To do this, a special sealant is applied to it, which is used when installing the panels. It simultaneously acts as a fixing base for the entire structure. The layer must be sufficient to cover all moisture accessible areas.

On the reverse side glue-sealant is applied to the side of the hob, which additionally fixes the product on the countertop. After that, the panel is inserted into its place and gently pressed down until the contact with the surface of the countertop is felt. The sealant that has come out must be removed immediately, since after drying it will be more difficult to do. It is important to check that the abutment is the same over the entire surface. If this is not done, the glass may shatter under the pressure from a heavy saucepan.

Advice! If the hob is glass, then it is important to be careful when applying pressure so that it does not burst.

The fixation does not end there. Special metal plates are supplied with the surface, as seen in the photo above. They must be screwed in such a way that they provide support and prevent the panel from lifting above the table top. You can watch a video about installing the hob below.

Network connection

After completing the installation process, you can proceed to connecting the electrical part. Most often, hobs are supplied in a single-phase version, but they can also be three-phase, which will be useful if three phases come to a house or apartment. Usually the hob has a built-in power cable. But if it is not there, then you will need to buy it separately. To connect, you need a wire marked PVA 3 × 4. Each core of this cable is rated for a rated continuous load of 8 kW.

This is necessary for a small margin, which will exclude overheating of the conductor. The wires are stripped from both sides. With one, a plug is mounted, which in terms of current must correspond to that indicated for the hob. If this is not observed, then it may simply melt. The wire is not monolithic, so you will need to crimp the cores with ferrules. Near the terminal block, where the connection to the hob will be carried out, markings are usually applied.

The Latin letter L denotes the cable through which the phase comes, the letter N denotes zero, there may be a third letter E, which denotes the place where the ground wire is connected. Most often, instead of the third letter, a drawing is applied, which indicates grounding. It is important to firmly fix each core that is crimped with a ferrule with a bolt. The service life will depend on the quality of the contact. If an oven is to be installed under the hob, then a separate socket must be provided for it. The total power consumption of the surface and the cabinet is twice that of a single-phase outlet.

Summary

As you can see, the installation of the surface can be done independently without significant skills. During work, all safety precautions and safety measures must be observed. When drilling and working with an electric jigsaw, there must be protective goggles in front of your eyes, which will protect you from flying sawdust. During the installation of the socket and connection of the electrical part, it is necessary to use tools that have dielectric handles that protect against breakdown electric shock... Before starting work, it is necessary to de-energize the machine, which is attached to the prepared wire in the kitchen.
