If the crystallization temperature of the diluted antifreeze does not suit you, then another antifreeze is selected.

In any case, to avoid overheating of the heat exchanger, in the settings service menu and gas valve it is necessary to limit the boiler output in heating mode(in lines d.00 and d.52 of the service menu), as well as set the maximum coolant temperature not higher than +70 °C (in line d.71 of the service menu). It is also recommended to increase the opening pressure of the bypass valve on the boiler (how? - read below).

The manufacturer of the boilers in the instruction manual usually gives his recommendations on the choice of antifreeze. So, for Protherm gas boilers, the instructions say: “It is not recommended to use non-freezing liquids in heating systems with Protherm equipment installed. To avoid failures in the operation of the flow sensor, it is recommended to supply water to the boiler through an additional filter installed in front of the boiler. tap water.

Automation can only work accurately if the following conditions are met:

  • Compliance with the required temperature regime;
  • No jumps in the network;
  • No problems associated with a long service life.

Automation includes the following devices:

Thermostat to control the temperature in the room. Such a device is installed indoors, but is connected to a gas boiler, which is located in this or another room. The thermostat controls the temperature in the room, and also regulates the operation of the heating equipment. When the temperature drops, the device sends a signal to the gas boiler, which automatically starts its work.

The temperature sensor located in the room can be connected to a separate control unit. Then the temperature in the room will be maintained automatically. After the room reaches the required temperature, the valve closes and the boiler stops working. Thus, gas is saved.

Daily programmer. The device regulates the operation of a gas boiler, but has more wide opportunities than the previous device. You can set the boiler to work for 24 hours using the daily programmer. At certain times of the day, you can set different heating temperatures. Most devices automatically repeat the cycle, so you need to change the program to change the data. You can connect the daily programmer via a radio channel or cable.

Weekly programmer. With the help of such a device, you can schedule the operation of a gas boiler for a week in advance. You can use any mode or create your own.

Operation of non-volatile automation

Some elements of the boilers, which are necessary for control, do not need the use of electricity. These devices must be adjusted manually and under the influence of geometric changes that occur under the influence of heat in the mechanisms.

To turn on the boiler, press the washer on the valve. The latter will be forcibly opened, letting in fuel that goes to the igniter. There are many models on the market with electronic control but mechanical are popular. There are several reasons for this:

  1. Low cost.
  2. Ease of use.
  3. Reliability. Such devices do not depend on power surges or power outages, so they can work without a stabilizer, which is needed when working with volatile equipment.

Disadvantages of this type:

  1. Low adjustment accuracy.
  2. It is necessary to monitor the operation of the boiler.
  3. Manual setting.

The device has a temperature scale, where the numbers indicate the minimum and maximum values. In order to install operating temperature, it is necessary to set a mark on the gradation ruler.

After the boiler has started to work, the thermostat is responsible for its functioning. When cooled, the rod of the device opens the gas supply valve and thus, due to the increase in temperature, increases in size and then shuts off the gas supply. This process helps to increase or decrease the heating temperature.

Safety system

The gas boiler security system includes many elements that can be divided into 2 groups:

  • Devices that help comfortable work boiler;
  • Devices that are responsible for the safety of equipment.

The second one is the thermostat safety valve, as well as a flame and draft control sensor.

The flame control sensor consists of the following elements: a solenoid valve that turns the gas supply on and off and a thermocouple. The thermostat maintains the desired temperature of the heat carrier and protects against overheating. When the coolant reaches a critical level, the module turns on or off the boiler.

As the temperature rises, the location of the bimetallic plate changes, it bends and closes the pipe through which the gas is supplied. Thus, the draft control device cuts off the fuel supply to the burner.

The safety valve regulates, distributes and shuts off the gas flow. In a heating system, such a device is an inextricable element of pipeline fittings, which is of great importance in controlling the volume of a heat carrier.

The movement of fuel is carried out through a hole in the valve, which is called a seat. In order to turn off the equipment, it must be closed with a piston.

Gas valves are single-stage, two-stage, three-stage and modulating.

The first type has 2 operating positions: on and off.

Two-stage has 1 input and 2 outputs. The valve opens after turning to an intermediate position, so the inclusion is smooth.

Three-stage is used for gas boilers with two power levels.

The latter are used to smoothly change the boiler power value.

Automation is used for safety and convenience. The user does not need to perform many tasks on his own. This includes the selection of a comfortable operating mode, diagnostics, auto-ignition of the burner, etc.

  3. Cables from sensors and other elements are connected to the body.

Boiler automation setting

Regulation provides for the adjustment of automation that supports the desired temperature regime located in the liquid circuit, and in an emergency blocks the gas supply.

Before moving on to setting up automation, it is necessary to mount the equipment in accordance with the drawing. And also you need to check the complete set of device elements, which must match the one stated in the instructions. You can adjust the automation with a knob. It helps to transfer the boiler to 3 positions: switching on, ignition and temperature setting (1-7). In order to turn on the igniter, you need to move the handle to the second position, setting it against the spark icon. The pilot burner is ignited by a piezo ignition. The lever should be held in one position for 30 seconds. After you release the button, the igniter should stop working. The thermocouple begins to heat up when the flame is ignited, so an EMF of 25 mV begins to be generated in it. Consequently, a chain is formed, the links in which are the solenoid valve and the sensor.

To open the solenoid valve, you need to press the lever, the gas will be supplied to the igniter. The thermocouple provides protection against backfire penetration. The sensors in the working position, which are related to the circuit elements, are closed. After a signal is received, they open and the equipment is turned off.

Problems when turning on the ignition element

If you have problems when turning on the device, then you should use the instructions. First of all, you need to purchase a screwdriver and open end wrench, pliers, multimeter and alcohol for cleaning parts.

  1. It is necessary to remove the terminals of the device. They are closed to each other, and then pressed with pliers.
  2. In order to find out the cause of the breakdown, turn on the igniter. If the ignition is normal, then the malfunction is probably in the draft sensor. You need to unlock this item.
  3. It is necessary to inspect the contacts, which must be fixed on the body and not have signs of oxidation.
  4. In the open state, the temperature should be 75 degrees.
  5. The resistance should be 1-2 ohms. You can measure it with a tester. If a malfunction was found, then this element must be replaced.
  6. At normal operation its parts must be wiped with alcohol and performed reverse installation device.
  7. In order to check the thermocouple pull-chopper, it is necessary to remove the terminals and check the resistance, which should have an indicator of 3. If the value does not match the required value, then unscrew the nut with a No. Next, you should get a plastic insert with contacts and unscrew the part completely.
  8. To check the thermocouple, a solenoid valve is connected and secured with a #9 key. If, after checking, ignition does not occur, then this part is faulty. The nut that fixes the thermocouple to the igniter must be unscrewed with a No. 10 wrench, then the part is installed in the required position.
  9. In order to evaluate the result, the EMF is measured (the optimum value is 18 mV), after which the thermocouple contacts and the elements of the traction chopper are cleaned with alcohol. The last step is to assemble the device.

Troubleshooting automation issues

Most often, ignition does not occur due to contamination of the insulator along which the wire leading to the combustion chamber is arranged. You can fix this problem by wiping the element with a soft cloth. If the part is heavily soiled, then it can be wiped with a solvent and wiped dry.

Another reason may be soot deposits that form in the combustion chamber. By knocking on the tube that leads the gas to the burner, this problem can be solved. If the device has not been used for a long time, then it is necessary to check the condition of the pipes.

V modern boilers faults are indicated on the displays in the form of codes. If the water does not heat up well, then deposits on the walls of the heat exchanger may be the cause. To eliminate the problem, you can flush the circuit hot water with added minerals. If this method does not help, then it is better to contact specialists. The cause of poor heating may be a malfunction of the electronics or flow sensor.

For gas boilers of high power, the “clocking” effect may occur, which appears due to frequent switching on. The equipment often turns on due to the strong heating of the gas. To fix the problem, you need to reduce the fuel consumption that enters the burners. In the electronic model, you can set the desired mode on the display, and in the mechanical one, by rotating the adjusting lever on the gas valve. To increase the service life of a gas boiler, a preventive inspection should be carried out on time.
