Stapler instructions and technical data. Furniture stapler - a device, how it works, features of different types, how to choose the right staples to use? How to choose a furniture stapler? Instructions for use

A furniture stapler is a tool that is used to fasten or fasten parts that are made up of materials that are not very hard. Fastening is carried out using special brackets for a furniture stapler. These staples come in many variations and vary in size, material, and color depending on the job. There are also various types of furniture stapler, reviews of each are on the Internet. This tool has many different names (taker, stapler, staple gun, etc.). This is due to the fact that this tool is quite popular and widespread among the people.

Electric and manual furniture stapler: device and tips for choosing a tool

Not everyone knows how to choose a furniture stapler. It is worth noting that choosing such a tool, you need to consider that it has many varieties. Therefore, you need to take into account the operating parameters and characteristics of the technical details with which you will work, as well as the device of the furniture stapler itself. Having studied all the nuances, you can go to the store and buy a furniture stapler.

A manual furniture stapler is a mechanical tool that is worked with by applying physical effort. The main advantage of a hand tool is its mobility and independence from electricity, as well as from other energy sources. The requirement of physical effort is the main disadvantage of a manual stapler, since with large amounts of upholstery work, a huge amount of time is spent. This fastening tool can only be used for partial or complete upholstery of furniture at home, and not in factories with industrial volumes. These tools are best purchased from companies such as gross, matrix and similar companies.

An electric furniture stapler is a tool that works with electricity or a battery. It is best to use this type of unit for medium-sized upholstery work. The main disadvantages of this type of stapler are: the low rate of fire of the mechanism, the weak impact force of the tool, as well as its rather rapid wear.

To work with industrial scale furniture upholstery, a pneumatic furniture stapler is used. Since it is fast, durable and strong compared to other types of similar building units.

Video “furniture stapler”: how to use, how to charge, and what staples are needed

In order not to be injured by a furniture stapler, it is important to thoroughly understand how to use such a tool. If you are using a mechanical stapler, first adjust the screw adjuster. Adjustment should be made on the rough material by turning the knob from minimum to maximum. If the fastener does not enter the material from the first blow, then you will need to re-adjust your furniture stapler, and if it does, then you start working on the "finish". You should know in advance how to charge a furniture stapler. This can be found in the instructions for the unit.

To drive staples at the right distance, it is best to mark such places in advance with a pen or pencil. You can also use a latch, which must maintain the same distance when driving in fasteners without prior marking.

Don't forget to also hold the material while making shots so that the material cannot move out when the staple is driven in. Do not forget to also monitor the presence of staples so as not to be left without them at the most inopportune moment for you.

When the tool is not in use, secure the handle with the safety lock. That's how it's supposed to be for safety reasons. By following these simple recommendations, you can easily cope with the upholstery of a sofa or other necessary task associated with a furniture stapler, the price always depends on the type of tool and its manufacturer.

Furniture stapler, instructions for use: how to choose staples?

The instructions for the device have data that you should rely on when choosing brackets:

  • The depth of the staples - it can vary from 4 to 14 mm. This parameter is determined by the nature of the upcoming work. For example, a tapestry on the back of a chair can be "shoot" with 8 mm staples, and for felt, you will need to use a depth of 10 - 12 mm.
  • Type - it all depends on the model, the marking on the package should be the same as in the description for the device. For example, if the staples are small for a particular device, then they can "shoot" several pieces at a time. In addition, skewed staples in the tray are almost inevitable here.

In addition, you should be wary of the seller's recommendations to replace staples of one type with another, similar one. Charges that are similar in depth may differ in geometry, which may not be noticeable to the eye, but is critical in the operation of the stapler.

How to choose the right furniture stapler?

Are you wondering how to choose a stapler for furniture? Everything is very simple here: we make a choice based on what kind of work we have to do. So, if you need a device for upholstery of a sofa or chair, then you can get by with a mechanical device, because furniture frames are usually made of soft wood. The effort applied by hand to a mechanical stapler will be quite enough for work.

If you have to work with harder materials, for example, with chipboard, then mechanics are indispensable. Sufficient power will have an electric stapler for furniture. Pneumatic tools are even more powerful, but this is likely to be a waste of money. It makes sense to buy pneumatics for use in construction work.

A high-quality mechanical stapler, what is it?

A mechanical stapler, furniture, is not difficult. However, in its design there are features on which the convenience and efficiency of using the device depends. Attention should be paid to the following:

  • Store transparency. It is not at all critical for the operation of the device, but it will be very convenient to control the number of staples.
  • Screw for adjusting the impact force. Different wood density and upholstery thickness - regulation here will greatly facilitate the work.
  • Narrow working tip of a stapler for furniture, mechanical. Will provide greater accuracy in the installation of brackets.
  • Stopper on the handle. This is a safety issue - you will be protected from an accidental "shot".
  • Rubberized handle. Greater convenience when working, the device will not slip in your hand.

Electric stapler for furniture: mains or battery?

The cordless furniture stapler is very convenient because the person working with it is not tied to a source of electricity. That is, you can work with the device even in the country, where there is no electricity. As a rule, the battery capacity lasts for quite a long time. Such a stapler does not have frank disadvantages, however, it is worth buying it only if there is a need for wireless access.

In all other cases, it is better to choose a furniture stapler, electric, mains powered. And that's why:

  • The network device will have more power than an independent one.
  • Even the most capacious battery tends to run out.
  • The price of a network stapler is lower.
  • The weight of the battery device is higher, which means it is more difficult for them to work for a long time.

Rules for using a mechanical stapler: how to charge the device?

How to use a furniture stapler is not difficult to figure out. But let's take a closer look at the process of charging a device with a mechanical drive.

  • We put the stapler on the fuse.
  • In the back of the device we find a sash that closes the hole in the "clip" for staples and fold it back.
  • From the hole we pull the rod with the spring.
  • We insert a block of brackets inside, "backs" towards the handle of the device.
  • We return the rod to its place, clamping the staples inside the stapler with it.
  • We lower the sash until it clicks. Then you can get to work.

How to choose a furniture stapler so that it is safe?

For devices with any drive, mechanical or electric, a button is required - a stopper that protects against accidental operation. Actually, for a mechanical stapler, such a stopper is quite enough. But an electrical device, in order to be considered truly safe, must also have protection against “idle” operation. That is, the "shot" should occur only when the working part of the stapler is pressed against the working surface.

In addition to human safety, there is also the concept of "quality control of work." This is a very useful feature that will protect you from unnoticed flaws in your work. It lies in the fact that the electric stapler will turn off every time the staple is not fully clogged or crooked. So you can notice the defect in time and eliminate it.

How to fill the pneumatic furniture stapler?

Let's take a detailed look at how to insert staples into a furniture stapler. The very first thing to do is to lock the device. So you protect yourself from injury due to an accidental "shot". Further, the sequence of actions will be as follows:

  • We find and press the button responsible for opening the boat for staples. After pressing, either the tray cover will “drive off”, or the tray itself will move out of the handle. It all depends on the design of the model.
  • We turn the device over, once again we make sure that it is blocked.
  • We put the staples for the furniture stapler into the tray, with the "backs" to the device, and the "legs" to ourselves. Make sure they lie flat.
  • Close the tray until it clicks.
  • We turn the stapler over with the working side away from us, remove the lock.

After charging, the tester must be tested. After that, do not forget to block the mechanism again.

A furniture stapler is a fairly versatile tool with which you can not only perform the furniture upholstery procedure, but also a number of other construction operations.

To date, there is one that differs from each other in the principle of operation:

  • pneumatic,
  • electric,
  • manual.

Pneumatic staplers are used in industry, while electric and manual staplers are used in everyday life. Models belonging to the latter type are the most common in the furniture industry due to their mobility and ease of use. Let's use this example to consider the principle of operation, operation and repair of furniture staplers.

However, before proceeding to this procedure, I would like to say a few words about brackets and their varieties.

The main indicator that is guided by when choosing a bracket is its depth. Depending on the nature of the work performed, this indicator can vary from 4 to 14 millimeters.

So, for example, in order to carry out the procedure for upholstery of furniture with a fabric, a bracket with a depth equal to 8 millimeters will be enough, while for fixing thicker materials, a bracket with a greater depth should be selected.

Also, depending on the overall dimensions, the brackets are divided into the following types:

  • 53 - is the most common. Staples of this type have a width of 11.4 mm and a thickness of 0.7 mm. The depth of this fastener varies from 4 to 14 millimeters;
  • 140 - having the following characteristics: width - 10.6 mm, thickness - 1.2 mm, depth - similar to the previous type;
  • 36 - such a marking means that the stapler can shoot staples that have a semicircular shape and are used mainly for cable installation;
  • 300 - These are special nails intended only for the stapler.

When choosing a bracket, you should also consider the structure of the material from which it is made.

Regular steel staples are great for working with regular wood. However, if you are dealing with particle board or plywood, then you should purchase staples made from hardened steel, as ordinary ones can simply bend.

A manual construction stapler has a magazine into which a clip with staples or special nails is loaded. The striker hits the bracket, which is attached to the drummer. The size of the striker in the tool depends on the dimensions of the consumables (staples) used. The drummer, in turn, touches the spring, the degree of compression of which is regulated by a special screw. The impact is damped using a shock absorber, which is located inside the stapler.

See the stapler device in the diagram:

How to use a stapler

Refueling

In order to fill the stapler with staples (i.e., charge the staple gun), you must first move the spring that is intended to press them. The staples themselves are placed in a special groove, in which, in fact, they must be placed. After that, the spring is put in place. The tool is completely ready to work.

Video: how to fill the stapler with staples

Now you know how to insert the staples into the stapler, we can go directly to work.

Shot

In order to fix the necessary element, you should tightly attach the device to the place where you plan to hammer the bracket. After that, without lifting the device from the surface, it is necessary to press the button (lever) of the trigger mechanism. If these manipulations are successful, you will hear a characteristic sound and see the bracket that has entered the material.

In order to protect yourself when working with a construction stapler, you should follow some rules:

  • In the case of using a mechanical model of the device, it is necessary to adjust the screw regulator. This operation should be performed on a piece of rough material by turning the screw from minimum to maximum. If the bracket went all the way from the first shot, you can start working on the “cleaner”. Otherwise, re-adjustment is required;
  • In order to drive in staples at the same distance, you must first mark the necessary places with a pencil or ballpoint pen;
  • Hold the material with your free hand so that when fired, it does not move from a predetermined place;
  • Keep track of the number of staples in the "store" so as not to be left without a single fastener at the most inopportune moment;
  • After finishing work, fix the handle with a fuse to prevent spontaneous or accidental firing.

In addition to all the above tips, you may also need help repairing this construction tool, since the stapler, however, like any other equipment, tends to break.

Repair

The most common cause of stapler failure is impact mechanism failure. However, in order to get to it, you must first disassemble the tool. This can be done by performing a number of simple operations:

  • Remove the adjusting screw;
  • Remove spring;
  • Remove the protection cover;
  • Remove the pins;
  • Remove lock washers.

If according to the list of actions it is not clear to you how to disassemble the stapler, then you can see this in the video below.

After performing all the above manipulations, you will be able to see the drummer, which, for the most part, fails due to the exhaustion of its resource.

In order to repair this element, it is necessary to remove it, install it in a vice and, using an ordinary file, give the drummer its original shape.

Everything, the repair is over, and the tool is again in full combat readiness.

Tips why the stapler does not work and how to fix it:

  • If your tool does not finish shooting (does not finish off) the staples, then try tightening the spring, it may have weakened;
  • If the stapler bends the staples, try adjusting the spring tension bolt (relax or tighten, experiment). Another likely cause of the malfunction is a mismatch between the type of staples and the structure of the material - for chipboard and plywood, it is recommended to buy hardened steel staples;
  • If the staples do not come out of the stapler, but bend and get stuck inside, it is possible that the striker (tongue) that pushes them is rounded and needs to be sharpened;
  • If the mechanism itself works, but the bracket does not shoot, it may not grab the bracket, the striker has worn out. Try filing the firing pin and turning the damper on the other side.

Good luck to all home masters, there will be questions - write!

In construction, furniture production and for minor repairs, a furniture stapler is often used. The device has several varieties and, if used correctly, significantly reduces the time it takes to connect certain surfaces to each other.

Furniture stapler device

The device that hammers into the surface of the staple has several names: a furniture or construction stapler, a stapler, a staple gun, a tacker, and a staple gun. All names are equally applicable in both written and oral speech. The tool is used to connect wood, plastic, film, plywood, insulation and fabric with special brackets or studs.

In stores, you can find several varieties of tacker, but the general principle of how a furniture stapler works is the same for all models:

  1. All mechanisms are enclosed in a plastic or metal case.
  2. The main component is the impact mechanism, which consists of a spring, a striker and a striker.
  3. The shock absorber softens the recoil when fired.
  4. The fuse protects against accidental firing of the bracket.
  5. The cocking handle or trigger is powered by physical force, electric current or compressed air power.
  6. Any furniture stapler, the characteristics of which can vary significantly, has a special store with staples. Often it is made transparent so that you can visually control the amount of the consumable.
  7. The ramming mechanism ensures the desired entry of the stud into the surface.
  8. The tip makes it easy to adjust the accuracy of each shot.
  9. The impact force can be changed thanks to a special regulator, thereby adjusting the stapler to work with surfaces of different hardness.

How does a furniture stapler work?

The principle of operation of a stapler for furniture is based on:

  1. The pushing of the fastener by the force of a compressed spring under the influence of physical force or electric current.
  2. In pneumatic models, instead of a spring, there is a piston driven by compressed air.
  3. After pressing the trigger, the energy of the spring or piston is transferred to the striker.
  4. The impact mechanism hits the bracket, thereby hammering it into the surface.
  5. A furniture stapler is used to fasten surfaces of different hardness, therefore, before use, the impact force must be adjusted to the material with a special adjustment mechanism, which differs for different types of tackers.

Types of furniture staplers

The correct choice of a furniture stapler is based on determining the frequency and duration of use, the type of surfaces to be joined. Given these factors, one of three types of staplers can be purchased at the store:

  1. Manual or mechanical tacker, which works due to the physical effort of the master. The tool has a simple design and the lowest price.
  2. Electric staple gun for furniture similar to the mechanical version, but the spring is driven by an electric current.
  3. Pneumatic tool used by professionals in the repair or manufacture of furniture. Its design is significantly different from analogues, thereby increasing productivity and price.

Manual furniture stapler

The simplest and most commonly used in everyday life is a manual stapler for furniture. Its power is enough for self-upholstery of the sofas, chairs and armchairs available in the house, for minor repairs or for the manufacture of interior items. The main part of the impact mechanism in a manual staple gun is considered to be a shock spring, which can be:

  1. twisted. It is installed in the most budget models and is considered less productive than analogues. You can determine the presence of a twisted spring by the presence of an adjusting screw on the device body.
  2. leaf spring. Such a furniture stapler has greater productivity and durability. The return in it is significantly less than that of the previous model.
  3. lamellar. Such a mechanism is used in professional instruments due to its high performance and price.

Electric furniture stapler

In electric models, the spring is not cocked by the user using a special handle, but by a built-in electric drive. Such a universal furniture stapler is convenient to use, because you do not need to make physical efforts to use it. Depending on the type of food, it happens:

  1. Furniture network stapler, operating from inclusion in a standard home power supply network. It is bought when repairs are constantly carried out in a room with an uninterrupted supply of electricity.
  2. Battery device, which can run on replaceable batteries or a rechargeable battery. Its advantage is that you can always take the tacker with you and use it where there is no access to the mains until it is completely discharged.

Pneumatic furniture stapler

The most productive and powerful furniture stapler is pneumatic. Its structure differs from manual and electric counterparts. A compressor or a special cylinder with compressed air is connected to the device. After pressing the trigger, pressurized air passes through the gas distribution unit, setting in motion a special piston mechanism. The latter transfers the force to the striker striking the bracket. The furniture pneumatic stapler is designed for professional use in large furniture industries and is more expensive than other varieties.

How to choose a furniture stapler?

  1. Frequency of use. Do you need to re-tighten the old sofa once, or do you regularly use a stapler during repair work.
  2. Type of work performed. In furniture production, soft woods are used, which can be handled by hand tools. For construction, it is better to buy an electric or pneumatic tacker.
  3. Model versatility. The cheapest staple guns work with only one type of staple. It is better to choose models for which different shapes and sizes of consumables are suitable.
  4. Price. In hardware stores, you can buy a staple gun at any level of income from the most budgetary models to expensive professional devices.

Furniture stapler - rating

Having decided which furniture stapler is best suited for a particular situation, you can analyze the reviews for each taker you like from ordinary users and professional craftsmen or choose the model with the highest rating among which:

Staples for furniture stapler

After purchasing a staple gun, it is better to immediately stock up on consumables. Staples for a stapler come in a variety of types. They differ in sizes, which each manufacturer marks independently. According to the material of execution, the brackets are divided into:

  • aluminum, suitable for working with soft materials;
  • copper for soft woods;
  • steel, suitable for any materials, but rusting over time;
  • stainless steel;
  • galvanized.

Depending on the type of work, you can purchase brackets of different shapes:

  1. U-shaped are considered standard and are used more often than other varieties.
  2. U-shaped needed to fix the cable.
  3. T-shaped are used when the fixation should not be noticeable.

How to use a furniture stapler?

Each appliance comes with clear instructions on how to use a particular brand of furniture stapler. Most recommendations are typical for all varieties:

  1. All work is carried out in a clean and well-lit place in comfortable clothes, shoes and individual plastic glasses to protect the eyes.
  2. Small work surfaces are fixed with a vise, and large ones are held by hand.
  3. Before work, the furniture stapler must be filled with staples.
  4. Then the electric models are connected to the network, and a cylinder or compressor is connected to the pneumatics.
  5. The impact force of the device is adjusted.
  6. When the staple gun is set up, it is recommended to test its operation in an inconspicuous area.
  7. The fixed surfaces are pressed tightly against each other, and the nose of the device is installed close to the place where the staples need to be hammered.
  8. The bracket clogs after pressing the handle or the trigger.
  9. After completion of all work, the device must be put on the fuse.

How to fill a furniture stapler

The technology of how to insert staples into a furniture stapler, following the recommendations of manufacturers and safety precautions, consists of several stages:

  1. The tool must be blocked by a fuse.
  2. The magazine is removed or its lid opens.
  3. A rod with a pusher spring is taken out.
  4. The staple rail is turned with a tip against the handle and inserted into the groove.
  5. The rod with staples is installed in the store.
  6. The lid closes and locks.
  7. Skobostrel is removed from the fuse and adjusted.

How to set up a furniture stapler?

The tool does not need to be adjusted after each replacement of the brackets, but only in the case of:

  1. First job after purchase.
  2. Incorrect operation of the device.
  3. Change of material to softer or harder.

The principle of how to adjust a furniture stapler depends on the modification of the staple gun:

  1. Mechanical devices with a twisted spring are adjusted by turning a special screw.
  2. In devices with spring and leaf spring, the regulator is located under the handle.
  3. Electric and pneumatic tools are adjusted by special rotary mechanisms.

Experts recommend smoothly turning the regulator from the minimum to the maximum position, constantly checking the quality of the setting with trial shots in inconspicuous places. The adjustment is considered complete when the brace is completely straight into the surface, while its back remains on the surface without going deep into it.

How to disassemble a furniture stapler?

If it is not possible to set up the staple gun, then it is worth checking the serviceability of the main working elements. If the master knows exactly how to disassemble the stapler, then with self-repair it is worth removing in turn:

  • adjusting screw;
  • shock spring;
  • protective cover;
  • pins;
  • lock washers.

After these manipulations, you can easily get to the main components and repair or replace them if necessary. Assemble the furniture stapler in the same way in reverse order. When the malfunction could not be identified or eliminated, it is better to contact the service center to a certified master.

Why does the furniture stapler not work?

The main malfunctions of a furniture stapler can be associated with improper operation, selection of staples, or design features of a particular model:

  1. If the staples are not completely clogged, then you need to either adjust the tool and tighten the spring, or remove the jammed staple from the magazine and continue working.
  2. Often, if the staples do not clog at all, you need to lubricate the head of the clamping mechanism of the staples.
  3. When a staple gun shoots several staples at a time or they constantly get stuck, this indicates a malfunction of the striker. Its shape may be damaged or there may be a crack.

Why does a furniture stapler bend staples?

Another common problem is the situation in which the furniture stapler bends the staples, and every experienced craftsman knows what to do. The problem is solved in two ways:

  1. Buying stronger staples, as the existing ones do not match the density of the material.
  2. Using staples with shorter stems. The shorter they are, the easier the fixing material will enter the surface.

How to do without a furniture stapler?

There are not so many alternatives to replacing a furniture stapler in the construction market and they depend on the type of work being done. More often, such a tool is used for decorating purposes and for changing the upholstery of upholstered furniture. Then the brackets can be replaced with:

  1. Small thin nails with beautiful caps that will have to be hammered by hand with a hammer.
  2. A special glue called "liquid nails", which, after drying, connects some surfaces no worse than metal fasteners.

When the question arises of hauling furniture at home or carrying out other manipulations that require quick fixing of parts of objects that consist of soft materials, a construction stapler comes to the rescue.

The furniture stapler is a versatile tool with many modifications. With this handy device, you can quickly sew together two equivalent materials or perform a number of other construction operations.

Basic working principle The device consists in the rapid stitching of the material with the help of strong staples. Due to the ease of use of the construction stapler, the work is done much faster, and the appearance of the repaired product is the most aesthetic.

Types of construction staplers

There are several main types of devices that differ not only in their technical characteristics, but also in the specifics of the tasks performed.

Manual or mechanical

The simplest and most convenient to use is a manual or, as it is also commonly called, a mechanical stapler. It has a relatively small size, light weight and low cost. To work with the device you have to make a lot of physical effort, insofar as in order for the parts to be fastened, you need to press on a special handle with a built-in spring. It is she who is the main element of the manual stapler, through which the stitching of various furniture parts takes place.

This type of device is most suitable for simple household tasks for hauling furniture at home. It is very difficult to wield a tool for a long time, because from frequent pressure on the handle with a spring, you can quickly get tired, and it takes a lot of time to complete large amounts of work. In this way, this type of tool will be good for minor jobs where you need to fasten soft upholstery fabric to soft woods.

Electric

If professional upholstery is required furniture, then experts always use an electric stapler. This type of tool is perfect for the rapid execution of large volumes of work. The stapler for furniture works exclusively from the network by connecting to a power outlet or from an attached battery. And, although it does not require any effort to work with this device, it has some other disadvantages.

So, for example, an electric stapler has a relatively low degree of penetration and has a low rate of fire. Moreover, this type of device, compared to mechanical staplers, fails very quickly due to frequent overheating. Modern instruments have a built-in indicator, showing how many staples are left inside the device, which is very convenient in the process.

Pneumatic

Pneumatic devices are considered the most powerful and most efficient. They are used in mass furniture production. The pneumatic tool is durable, reliable, fast stitching speed and practical. To use this type of device a compressor is always required, since the basic principle of operation is based on the supply of compressed air at very high pressure. Pneumatic stapler is capable of performing huge amounts of work in the shortest possible time.

This tool is used not only for furniture upholstery, but also in other repair or construction areas. However, for home use The ideal option would be a manual stapler for furniture.

Application area

With this unique tool, you can achieve high results in the process of performing such work as:

For light work a manual stapler is ideal, while for large volumes it is best to choose an electric or pneumatic version of the device.

Advantages

The tool has a number of undeniable advantages., regardless of the type of stapler used:

It should be noted that for domestic needs, you should always choose a mechanical appliance. It is easy to use and maintain and, importantly, has an affordable price.

A huge variety of different types and modifications of staplers can unsettle an inexperienced consumer for a long time. Therefore, in order to choose the right device, you should be guided by certain rules.

Given all the characteristics of the device, you can make a competent choice in favor of exactly the model that will be most suitable for current needs.

Construction stapler: how to use

Using the device is quite simple. The main thing is to follow all the rules regarding charging the stapler:

Any master can manipulate with this tool, and it is absolutely not required to hone skills for this. The main thing is to properly charge the clip of the stapler, after which you can safely get to work.

I met two versions of staplers for adjustment, both had to be adjusted ...

I must say right away that all these instructions did not help much, I had to lime about a dozen paper clips in order to achieve the best result, and then adjust it in the course of work every 15-20 strokes. Therefore, the adjustment process is a continuous action during use.

Another point - one builder advised to relax the spring after work so that there was no pressure on it during storage, this is the reason that it needs to be adjusted before each work.

1 option

The adjusting screw is located on top of the stapler, inside there is a straight spring along the entire length, pressing on the striker. If the screw is turned clockwise, the impact will be stronger and, accordingly, the paperclip will go deeper. By unscrewing the adjusting screw counterclockwise, the blow is weakened.

Option 2

In this version, the stapler is made by means of a leaf spring, it is she who presses on the striker and regulates the force of impact. The adjusting screw is under the handle. I do not remember exactly in which direction it is necessary to turn this screw, try it yourself. When you turn it, the plate bends and presses on the striker, or the opposite effect occurs.
