Then carefully remove dust from the surface, degrease it and apply a primer for plastic. 	Then a matte yacht varnish is applied to the surface.

Bonding self-adhesive film

If you wish to give MDF facades a certain texture, use a self-adhesive film. Before gluing the film, the facade is prepared as before painting. It is important to stick the film carefully, avoiding the appearance of bubbles.

First, a piece of film of suitable size is cut out with allowances of 2 cm on each side. Then the film is evenly applied to the edge of the facade, having previously removed 5-10 cm of the protective strip.
Glue the material in small areas, smoothing and gradually removing the protective film.
If bubbles nevertheless form and cannot be expelled, it is necessary to pierce them and release the air.

Countertop replacement

The chipboard tabletop sometimes becomes completely unusable if, for example, it is swollen from water. In this case, it is not necessary to order a new one. You can make your own tile countertop. Such countertops, firstly, are durable, and secondly, you can choose almost any design. It is fashionable to lay out a mosaic tabletop.

	The basis of the countertop is extruded polystyrene foam. It is installed on liquid nails.

	All batting is fixed around the perimeter with a furniture stapler.
	Then lay out the upholstery with the wrong side up, put the seat down with batting.
	They pass with a stapler on the sides, then separately bend the upholstery at the corners, fix it with staples. Put the remaining piece of upholstery on top, fold the excess inside. And go through with a stapler or hot glue.

It is quite possible to restore an old kitchen set that needs to be transformed on its own without any special financial investments.

The most common ways to update facades are the use of decoupage technique, painting, the use of moldings and self-adhesives.

1. The simplest - vinyl stickers

The most economical option is to update the facades with a self-adhesive film. Using this method does not require special skill and the use of professional tools.

To work you need:

Vinyl self-adhesive - purchased at hardware stores or advertising agencies;
Stationery knife, scissors;
Square, long ruler (at least 80 cm), construction tape measure;
Special scraper for smoothing the material.

How to glue with your own hands?

Remove all kitchen doors. Clean them from dirt, grease, dust. Eliminate the revealed deformation of the facades: cover up the cracks, cut off the bumps, etc. Surface to be applied vinyl stickers should be treated with a degreaser.

Measure each element to the nearest millimeter. Transfer the obtained dimensions to a sheet of film with observance of right angles. It is important to make a margin around the perimeter of at least 10 mm on each side. Cut the film according to the received size.

Example: Overall dimension facade 200 x 700 mm. The film cut out for it should be 220 x 720 mm. The example is valid only if you plan to stick the film exclusively on the front without capturing the ends. If it is necessary to apply restoration material to the side parts of the doors, you will have to overall size add more material thickness.

The sticker of a vinyl film (oracal) occurs in stages. Filmed small plot protective paper and the open part of the sticker is applied to the top of the facade. Molding - miniature decorative elements from wood, plaster and foam. They are attached to the facades immediately before painting. They create an additional relief: a frame, a thematic ornament, a fantasy composition.

All three methods (molding, decoupage, painting) are closely related and can be used in kitchen restoration both together and separately.

The owner of this kitchen settled on the second option, after which he indulged in thinking about the topic of photo printing. The original version with a separate picture for each door was rejected: general form it will be too garish. The owner of the kitchen took advantage of quite simple method: searched for pictures with the word "nature" with a resolution of at least 40 megapixels.

Knowing the dimensions of the door, it is necessary to throw 1-2 cm on each side for the ends and another 1-2 cm for the inversion.
Cut the image to the desired size.
We degrease the door and remove all irregularities.

We make holes for the handles and install them.

Use a hair dryer like you would with a car wrap it is forbidden: the film is deformed.

The most hard part- corners of the door. You can paste them in two ways, here it is already a matter of taste:

The corners should be pasted over with the utmost care, since the self-adhesive film will not adhere to superglue.

During the renovation of the kitchen, it was decided to unload the shelf for drying plates from the covers accumulated there by hanging them on the doors with reverse side. To do this, you need to purchase ordinary hooks and fix them in any convenient way.

To prevent the self-tapping screws from being visible under the film, the holes for their installation must first be countersunk, i.e. make holes for them to sink.

The final stage of updating the headset was the doors under hob which were not originally present. The doors were made of 5 mm. plywood. With a special desire, you can assemble a complete set of plywood with your own hands.

Defects in pasting can be removed with a blade, but for this you need to wait 1-2 weeks: then the film will finally take its place.

The refrigerator can be the heaviest item to wrap. Get ready for the fact that the film will have to be repeatedly removed and pasted again, fortunately, it allows this. Getting rid of small bubbles is very problematic, so it is better to expel excess air after the process is completed with a needle.

The film can be washed and rubbed.
It stays on very well and is very hard to remove.
Door corners are the weakest points.
The film scratches easily.

The cost of such a renovation of the kitchen was as follows: about $120 for a self-adhesive print with lamination and about $90 for plywood, hooks and handles. When buying a regular film, the budget can be reduced significantly.
