Business plan for an online language school. Business plan for a foreign language school

World processes dictate their own rules for doing business, politics and foreign economic cooperation. The proverb about how many languages a person knows, so many times he and a person, can be rephrased differently: how many languages does he know modern man, so many times he is successful and sociable. To match progressive time simply necessary speak foreign languages.

Relevance

The relevance of the language school is undeniable. Even if you are not going to hold a high position in an international company or live in another country, in Everyday life, such knowledge is needed to read the label of a drink, deal with a computer program or make purchases in a foreign online store.

Some linguists generally believe that Chinese grammar is the future and world domination. Indeed, 90% of what surrounds us has the inscription Made in China. Accordingly, the instructions are also attached in two translations - English and Chinese.

To turn an idea into income, need to develop a business plan language school with calculations. In addition to the standard set, exotic language courses are popular.

The target audience

The population with outdated stereotypes thinks that “school” is the destiny of children. Today, self-development, in the literal sense of the word, has embraced the post-Soviet space. The acquisition of knowledge has become fashionable. Grandmothers have stopped watching TV shows, young people have stopped spending evenings in doorways, and business people have stopped spending time in clubs. Everyone is on course! They are aimed at absolutely any age group.

The more coverage age groups the higher the profitability. The majority are from 4 to 60 years old. Mostly middle class people. Remember that courses for children and adults have a number of tangible differences.

Decide on the structure and organization of classes:

  1. Express courses for students who have a basic level.
  2. Preparation for testing for obtaining international certificates.
  3. Comprehensive study from scratch.

The length of one course varies from 4 to 8 months. One lesson from 45 minutes to 1.5 hours. The groups are recruited even number students, because in the process there will be situational games, dialogues and pair communication.

The groups also differ in time:

  • day;
  • evening;
  • morning;
  • day off.

customer flow in summer period significantly reduced, and since the fall of those wishing to increase.

Before choosing the desired orientation and direction, pay attention to competitors. What services do they provide? Which price policy? What is their work based on? It is unlikely that a person will go to a newcomer if he offers the same conditions as those that have been on the market for a long time.

AT recent times installment learning is popular. The amount is divided into equal shares and paid within 6-8 months. it good advantage in front of others.

Legal aspects

First, decide on the form of organization of the institution. If this is an individual entrepreneurship, after graduation, clients will not receive any documents confirming the acquired knowledge. IP does not need a license. It is easier in terms of formalities and doing business. Such a school is suitable for people who study exclusively for themselves, and diplomas and certificates are not needed.

If you want to confirm the knowledge of your students, you need state licensing. The license is issued by the local Department of Education. After graduation, clients receive documents of the established form about the level of language proficiency. A certificate is an additional plus for a candidate for a certain position. There are options when at the end of the training a diploma of additional education is provided.

Business plan for a language school with calculations starts with correct design documents. Individual entrepreneurship is easier to formalize, but, as mentioned above, it does not give the right to issue documents for clients on the completion of training. open Non-state educational institution , which was created by the owners and carries out educational processes.

Before registration, management must provide the following:

  • full title;
  • address;
  • Contact phone numbers;
  • personnel passport data;
  • information about the founders;
  • information about taxation;
  • articles of association;
  • print sketch.

There are separate requirements for the charter. It is being developed taking into account the requirements set out in Law No. 3266-1 "On Education":

  • name of the NOU;
  • address;
  • information about the founders;
  • types of scientific programs;
  • teaching languages;
  • rules for enrollment and deductions;
  • the duration of the lesson;
  • the procedure for managing and owning property;
  • recruitment rules;
  • liquidation.

Registration is carried out at the Ministry of Justice. In order not to get a refusal, you should carefully study all the nuances of the statutory document. During the entire period of activity, the institution is constantly monitored by the state.

If registration is in the form individual entrepreneur(which is much easier to issue), then the taxation will be income - 6%. According to OKVED, types of activities:

  • additional education for children and adults, other, not included in other groups;
  • translation and interpreting activities.

Licensing

  • statement;
  • lease agreement or confirmation of ownership of the premises;
  • certificate of material and technical equipment, signed by the head of the organization;
  • the availability of software developments for the implementation of training;
  • conclusion of SES, fire inspection;

The list of papers is so extensive that not everyone can submit them all the first time. To reduce your time, contact the territorial authority for a detailed consultation. The license does not expire.

Teachers and other staff

The choice of staff should be approached thoroughly and a separate section should be singled out in the business plan for opening a language school. Connect all resources to their searches:

  1. Internet. Well-known sites have thousands of resumes with reviews and characteristics.
  2. Connect to find friends. Word of mouth, at times, is more effective than professionals.
  3. Recruitment agency. Their database is carefully calibrated, so it is very easy to find the right employee with a minimum investment of time. If you are limited in finances, then give up this method.
  4. Search through profile groups in social networks. Post a message and interested candidates will write themselves.
  • Future teachers must have a higher profile education, have experience as a teacher. It is also important to have your own developments. Of course, the level of language proficiency is ideal.
  • The number of teachers directly depends on the number of courses, their types and age groups. Minimum 2 English linguist, 2 French, 2 German.
  • In addition to them, the school needs administrator. He will answer phone calls, accept applications, make settlements with clients, draw up a schedule, complete groups, provide the institution with an office.
  • The position of an accountant may be on a non-permanent basis, i.e. periodic. For example, once a quarter, a specialist is invited to prepare reports and submit them to the competent authority.
  • The institution needs manager. He manages all processes, develops and promotes the organization, conducts marketing campaigns, and hires employees. For this position, choose a proven person with work experience and management skills.
  • cleaning lady invite on a contractual basis. It is enough to carry out complex cleaning 3-4 times a week, and on other days the administrator will limit himself to wet cleaning.

Financial calculations

Opening a school requires large expenses even at the first stage:

  1. Registration of documents- about 10,000 rubles.
  2. Premises for rent- 70,000 rubles. The optimal area for classes is approximately 100 sq.m.
  3. Purchase of equipment. The future educational institution needs tables, chairs, magnetic and chalk boards, wardrobes, a wardrobe for employees, a table for a teacher, lighting lamps, a reception desk, a sofa for waiting, a safe. All this will cost 80,000 rubles.
  4. Handout- 100,000 rubles.
  5. office equipment: computer, printer, scanner, fax, multimedia projector, Electric kettle, microwave oven - 200,000 rubles.
  6. Advertising. Development of a personal website, signboard, pavement signs, distribution of leaflets - 50,000 rubles.
  7. Wage teachers depends on the percentage of the number of loads and rates. The rate is 18,000 rubles, the percentage is approximately 7,000 rubles. In total, the salary of one specialist is 25,000 rubles. The administrator is invited to work at a rate of 17,000 rubles. Payment for an accountant and a cleaning lady is discussed individually. The salary of the director depends on the general indicators. Approximately 30,000 rubles.
  8. Amount of taxes directly depends on the number of visitors.
  9. Communal payments- 5000 rubles.

All amounts depend on the region where the future business is located. With an investment of 700,000 rubles, they talk about payback after a year. Monthly income will range from 150 to 200 thousand rubles. The price of the course depends on the chosen training system and the language itself. For English - from 15,000 rubles. per semester, studying Chinese - from 20,000 rubles.

Despite the simplicity of the institution, the opening must be approached thoroughly and responsibly. The fact that the level of private education of the consumer is growing every year is an indisputable fact. If you have your own vision, pedagogical developments, success is guaranteed.

Teaching language skills is not only profitable and promising, but also a noble business. Foreign languages can open the way to work in international organizations and to business with international markets. Different target audiences may need foreign language teaching: schoolchildren and students; people who need languages for work or business; those who are planning to move abroad. The work on the creation of such a school is preceded by a business plan for a school of foreign languages, an example of which we offer you below.

Rationale for the business plan

We plan to launch a business in a large regional center with a population of over 1 million people. At the moment, English is taught here by three large language schools, as well as several hundred private tutors and small courses. The market for these services in the city can be assessed as saturated, however, a control study of users of social networks and forums showed that there is a need for quality teaching of foreign languages. Among the main claims made by potential customers:

  • Low level of professional competence of private teachers.
  • The absence of special offers such as "English for business", which could cover the request of a certain part of the target audience.
  • Lack of well-equipped classrooms.

In order to take a stable place in the market, it is planned to create a premium language school aimed at entrepreneurs, managers and final grade students who plan to enter the leading universities in Russia, as well as Europe or China.

In connection with the definition of the target audience, the following risks arise and problem areas business plan:

  • There is a shortage of qualified teachers in the region who are able to offer the required level of services.
  • Insufficient number of target audience in the selected region.
  • Requires large initial investment.

In order to mitigate the first risk, it is planned to analyze in advance the market of private teachers in the city and select among them those who have the required competence, conduct a preliminary interview with them for cooperation.

To neutralize the second risk, it is supposed to study the need of the city's leading companies for corporate training of employees. It is not possible to assess the need for premium-class services of individuals - this is a significant disadvantage that can only be overcome through personal acquaintances of the founder of the school. In addition, it is planned to conduct online classes for students from other regions. However, no emphasis will be placed on it.

The third risk is planned to be solved by attracting co-financing from the investor for allocating him a share of future profits or by obtaining a bank loan.

If the risks are assessed as too significant, it is planned to reorient the project to provide services to the middle class.

Decor

In our case, a need for premium services was identified and an investor was found who is ready to allocate 50% of the required costs for starting a business. It is planned to allocate another 25% from own funds, and the remaining 25% to receive a loan under the guarantee of the investor.

For registration, the form of activity of LLC was chosen.

The system of taxation of the simplified tax system of 15% is chosen, since the school will have significant costs for teachers' salaries.

OKVED 85.41.9 “Additional education for children and adults, other not included in other groups, including teaching foreign languages” is selected for work.

According to the Regulation on Licensing Educational Activities (Government Decree No. 966), the language center requires the following documents:

  • Ownership or right to use the premises (lease).
  • Availability of developed and approved educational programs.
  • Availability of SES documents.

To obtain all the necessary documents, it is planned to use the services of a specialized licensing agency. For these purposes, it will be necessary to allocate 100 thousand rubles, including a state duty of 7.5 thousand rubles.

Personnel search

Since we have chosen the format of a premium language school, the best teachers are required. Since we will not work in Moscow, where the demand for other languages is higher, but in regional center, the offer of a large number of languages will be unprofitable. Greatest Demand saved into English. In addition, there is a growing demand for Chinese, which is not satisfied by competitors, including in neighboring regions.

Thus, the basis of our school will be teachers of English and Chinese. We plan to start with two English teachers and one Chinese teacher. To increase the profitability of the use of the premises, non-staff teachers are invited in non-priority languages: French, German, Spanish - with payment for the hours actually worked.

The leading teacher of English is planned to be sent to specialized courses in Moscow for training. The contract includes a clause on mandatory work in the company for 2 years or payment of retraining costs.

The salary of teachers is planned at the level of 150% of the average for the region.

Premises for rent

For work, it is planned to rent a room in the city center. Here should be:

  • A room with superior furniture for classes with VIP-class clients (30 sq. m).
  • Two "standard" class rooms (20 sq. m each).
  • Reception (12 sqm).
  • Manager's office (10 sq. m).

Total area of the premises: 92 sq. m.

Estimated cost of renting an office: 50 thousand rubles per month. It is supposed to pay rent for 3 months immediately. On the redecorating you will need to spend 150,000 rubles.

What is purchased Quantity Price
Comfort tables 8 48 000
Comfort chairs 8 35 000
Educational tables 16 48 000
Training chairs 16 32 000
Projector 3 120 000
Board interactive 3 180 000
Teacher's tables 3 12 000
Teacher's chairs 3 6 000
Notebook 5 135 000
Other furniture 50 000
Receptionist's desk 1 15 000
Office decoration 30 000
Office equipment (MFP, telephone, small electronics) 30 000
Miscellaneous 15 000
Total 756 000

In total, at launch, you will need 956,000 rubles.

Business promotion

Business promotion is planned to be carried out in two directions: offline and online.

Of the offline methods, it is planned to offer preferential terms for corporate training of employees of local companies at 10% of the basic offer. To do this, commercial offers are sent out and meetings are held with representatives of companies from a pre-prepared list.

Printed products are produced and distributed to local universities and business centers.

For Internet promotion, a landing page is created, SEO promotion, targeting and contextual advertising campaigns are launched.

Cost calculation

On launch

According to the initial idea, of this amount, 1,035 thousand rubles are allocated by the investor, 535 thousand rubles from their own funds, and another 500 thousand rubles are taken on credit from a bank for 2 years at 15% per annum.

According to these conditions, the monthly payment will be 24,500 rubles (calculated using an online calculator according to standard conditions, the actual cost will differ).

Monthly

How much does the business bring

The tax base will be:

598,000 - 396,500 \u003d 201,500 rubles.

Subtract from it the cost of the UST and get: 201,500 - 62,100 = 139,400 rubles.

169,400 x 0.15 = 20,910 rubles will be the monthly tax.

The net profit will thus be:

201,500 - 20,910 = 180,600 rubles per month.

The profitability of the business will be:

(180,600 / 396,500) x 100 = 45.54%.

This indicator can be considered very successful for the first year of operation. However, to enter it, it is required to ensure the planned attendance. It should be noted that the occupancy of about 60% of the possibilities for using the current premises was taken as the calculated indicators. In the future, it is planned to increase the useful use of the premises up to 80% and thereby increase profits and profitability.

Based on the figure of 180,600 rubles per month, we calculate the payback of the business.

It is planned to direct 70% of the income to return on investment. The remaining 30% is directed to the development of the company, employee bonuses, additional costs that arise and dividends to two co-founders.

180,600 x 0.7 = 126,420 rubles per month will be used to return investments (loan expenses are not taken into account).

1 570 000 / 126 420 = 12,41.

Return on own investment is expected 13 months after launch. After that, within 3 months it is planned to fully repay the debt on the loan. Thus, the full payback of the business comes in 16 months.

Business Outlook

Further prospects for the development of the company depend on the size of the market in a particular region. In our case, it is planned to open two additional schools in other areas of the city, aimed at the middle class. The first school in the future will be completely transferred to serving VIP-category clients.

In addition, it is planned to form a franchise offer and bring the school to the market of other regions.

Eventually

Foreign language courses look like promising direction business for a large city. In cities with less than 300 thousand inhabitants, the demand for an institution of this kind is much lower. The premium class English school discussed above will be effective only in the regional center. In small towns, there is simply no target audience for which this business is oriented.

This business plan of a foreign language school with calculations shows that the main cost item and the main problem for a future entrepreneur in this direction will be the selection of qualified personnel. It is possible that you will have to pay extra for special training of teachers. This is not only a guarantee of quality education, it is a guarantor that must be issued to VIP-class clients in order to attract them to their school. In other words, you can’t just call your institution a premium school by simply putting tables and chairs there at twice the price of competitors. First of all, you must provide the required level of education. In this case, there will be no end to clients.

Another effective move would be an invitation to the position of a teacher of a native speaker. However, today the requirements for such specialists are much higher than before. They must not only have the required competence, but also speak Russian at a sufficiently high level. Please note that today such specialists must have a certificate of Russian language proficiency in order to work.

Perhaps this is all you need to know about starting this business. We wish you good luck and recommend that you get acquainted with other materials on our website. We also remind you that we present only average samples of business plans. Your business plan must be drawn up taking into account regional characteristics and other individual nuances.

Schools of foreign languages today are very popular. This is due to the fact that to get a decent and high paying job without knowledge of at least one foreign language is almost impossible.

For example, thanks to the knowledge of English, you can find a job in any country in the world, because it is international. The knowledge gained in universities is usually not enough for free communication, so people tend to get high level knowledge and apply to such schools. And enterprising people are wondering how to open a school of foreign languages in order to earn money on the craving for knowledge.

Where to start?

At the first stage, you need to decide on the form of registration and further develop only this direction. For example, if you register only as a sole trader, you will be able to teach students, but you will not be able to issue training certificates. This may not suit everyone, and it is difficult to select the teaching staff.

Now you need to register with the tax office. Application processing time can be from 5 working days to 1 month . Only after obtaining permission can you go to the territorial educational authorities.

For them to issue permits for educational activities must provide all necessary documents, from detailed information about the teaching staff technical condition building, which will host studying proccess. More full list documents for opening a school of foreign languages need to be clarified additionally.

Room rental issue

You also need to be careful about choosing a room. Be sure to consider the location future school, because this is what can play into the hands and lure even more future students.

But do not save too much and focus on premises in sleeping areas. From the attracted audience there will be only residents of the same area, because it is much easier to find another school than to go to courses in the other end of the city. And this will not contribute to business development. It is also advisable to choose a place where your competitors will not be, because they can take a significant part of your potential students.

To begin with, it is recommended to remove some office space with a total area of 50 m 2 . Its cost can vary from 30 to 60 thousand rubles, depending on the city and region.

It is also worth paying attention to the general condition of the audience. In standard office premises, repairs are usually not required, but classrooms will have to be equipped with school items in the form of a blackboard and posters with foreign grammar. This will create a pleasant interior in which you can easily learn the chosen language with full immersion in the learning process.

To keep up with the times, you will also have to additionally buy a projector and an interactive whiteboard on which to show slides for fixing educational material. For the projector, you will additionally have to pay 80 thousand rubles.

If the start-up capital is small, you can consider hourly office space rental. This has been practiced for a long time and helps to save a little Money because you only have to pay for the time of the lessons. Here the main role should be played only by a convenient location (city center or near a metro station). One of the advantages of such an idea is that you don’t have to spend money on equipment, because often in business centers that offer rental, everything is already there.

Staff selection

Special attention should be given to the selection of teaching staff. Teachers will be the face of your school, so you need to decide in advance which employees you need to hire. Be sure to make a lesson plan for each group according to the level of knowledge (beginner, intermediate, advanced). Can't teach people different levels knowledge on one program, because it will not be effective.

It is worth pointing out right away wages with teachers. It starts from 30 to 50 thousand rubles, depending on the city and region.

Outcome

We found out where to start opening a school of foreign languages. Now, in order for the business to pay off, it is necessary to advertise. Now many people want to become fluent in at least one of the foreign languages, so the right advertising will help attract many new students and contribute to a quick payback.

To open a language school you will need:

  • the amount of initial capital must be at least 300 thousand rubles;
  • expenses each month will be 150 thousand rubles;
  • approximate income - 185 thousand rubles.

You can get a full refund within a year. After that, the net profit will be approximately from 100 thousand rubles per month.

Talking about competitors and the market educational services in general, we can safely say that in Russia it is oversaturated with supply and is highly competitive. You can find a service provider for every taste, in every price range.

At the same time, the market is promising and dynamically developing even in times of crisis. After all, the need to learn a foreign language is recognized by both optimists and pessimists. The former believe that everything will stabilize and do not want to change the usual rhythm of life (fitness, cafes, foreign language courses), while the latter are thinking of leaving the country (and urgently begin to improve their language).

Therefore, it is profitable to open a school of foreign languages, especially considering that investments at the start are minimal. But because of the high competition, it will not be superfluous to study the market. However, this is not necessary in all cases.

We did not cut the market, because at the time of opening we simply did not have the necessary experience. And, to be honest, we didn't need it, because we already had requests from potential clients.

We have exactly the case when demand gave rise to supply: we knew for sure that we would have a certain number of students. In a word, it has nothing to do with those cases when a company enters the market with some kind of product, not knowing whether it will be in demand at all.

In addition, we were already acting teachers, and to say that we opened a business from scratch is not entirely true. We had few skills directly related to running a business, but we had an idea of how to organize the educational process, by the time we opened our own client base and teaching experience in a private school.

It was the latter that helped us at the very beginning. We watched how the director of this school conducts business, how contracts are concluded, corporate training, noticed mistakes that I would not like to repeat. We can say that the only competitor we have studied is the school where we ourselves worked.

Also, at the start, you need to decide which audience to work with. Today, foreign languages in private schools are studied by people of all ages, starting from the age of 3. So you can work with kids, preschoolers, schoolchildren, students, working people and pensioners. Each category needs its own training program, and not just one. It is impossible to teach a first-grader and a graduate preparing for the Unified State Examination according to the same template. And it’s almost impossible to cover all segments of the population at the start, so it’s better to start working with a category with which you already have experience of interacting.

Personal experience

We started working with adults, and so far I have never worked with children in my life. Because I just don’t know the right approach to them, I can only observe it from the side as a mother. Therefore, we launched the "children's sector" in our schools much later, when I saw the effect of education on my child and invited a specialist to head the corresponding direction in our school.

If you want to start a business with something you don't know how, it's important to hire a good specialist. Moreover, you need to try out his method on yourself as a client, wait for the results. Because you can't convince people that your product is good without ever trying it. At the start, you need to do what you can, what you are ready for. Only this will ensure high quality services.

This also applies to the choice of languages that will be taught in your school. If, for example, you are considering launching a course Spanish, without having information about it and about the advising market, nothing will come of it. You can't even hire good specialists because they are extremely reluctant to go to unknown schools.

It is best to start with one direction, work it out well and “run it in”, and only after that open new directions: launch courses in other languages, expand audience coverage. Something new at the school of foreign languages should be launched regularly. Trying to sell the same thing for 10 years is very dangerous. Periodically, the market sags in each segment. The same English sometimes goes by the wayside, other languages periodically become more popular, and in turn.

But the palette needs to be expanded gradually, starting from everything at once - the same as spraying. This is exactly the problem of many schools that declare many languages, but cannot gather groups, and as a result, dissatisfied clients, without waiting for the start of classes either in a month or two, leave. At the same time, they do not just take their money, they leave a negative impression, they no longer return to this school.

Investment size

Step-by-step instruction

In order to survive in a competitive environment and not dump prices, it is necessary to pay the greatest attention to the quality of the services provided. Therefore, after you have studied the business from the inside and collected the necessary amount of investment, you need to think over the issue with the curriculum in detail. First of all, it will depend on what audience you plan to work with at the start. For example, it is better to teach languages to very young children through creativity: music, dancing, modeling, etc.

With adults, this is somewhat easier, but they also pursue different goals when they come to a foreign language school: someone wants to emigrate, someone needs a language for work, someone for travel. Accordingly, it is desirable to give different programs for different purposes.

When opening our school, we wrote several programs: business English, conversational English, financial, legal English, English for tourists, etc. We have taught all this before, so the programs were working and tested on people.

We currently have about 65 programs taught at our school, including very narrow areas such as interview preparation. All of them are written by professionals. And there is simply no other method than to involve a specialist in writing a program. For example, we now have a methodologist who has a higher pedagogical education and three years of experience in her specialty.

Another way is not to write your own program, but to use modern international class textbooks - textbooks from publishers such as Macmillan, Longman, Cambridge, etc. They offer their programs, which you can simply download on the Internet and follow the step-by-step instructions provided.

The teacher can also create a program on his own. But for this you need to conduct a lot of classes, describe them, writing down the dates, results, textbooks used. Only then will it be a truly normal training program.

Personal experience

It was with the help of our teachers that we launched the teaching of German, French and Italian. Almost all teachers in our school have MSLU education, they all know at least two languages. When we had already formed the staff of our teachers, each of them spoke one more language. At this stage, it was easy to launch a second foreign language, because we were confident in the professionalism of our employees.

In general, the teacher is a key figure in this business. This is exactly the person who will "keep" your client. If you make a mistake with the teacher, the client will not stay with you with all the investments, beautiful offices, smart sales managers.

If the founder of the school himself has a specialized education, “boils” in this environment, then it will be much easier for him to recruit staff, simply because he can involve his classmates in the work.

Otherwise, you can search for teachers in standard ways, for example, through sites with announcements. It is also worth "monitoring" students and graduates of local universities. For example, I constantly interact with Moscow State Linguistic University, I know all the forums, I am present on all the sites where students sit, and I often write to them directly, asking if they want to apply after graduation to our staff.

Do not be afraid to hire young professionals. From the age of 21-22 you can work, while demonstrating all the talents and a high level of language proficiency - C1.

Sometimes applicants come to us, but after the interview, we advise them to start studying at our school at the Intermediate-Upper-Intermediate level, as they make a lot of mistakes in speech. This can often be found in the Moscow market.

Personal experience

By experience, we found out that a sign is important for a school. Initially, we thought that today people are looking for information, including about courses, on the Internet, which means that signs are not needed. But it turned out that when we rented an office with a front sign, 30% of clients came to us just passing by.

At the stage of brand formation, do not forget about PR: publications, free events, prize draws from partners. Try to find interesting partners and exchange audiences. It is very useful.

Even with the most competent promotion strategy, clients will not engage with you if it is inconvenient in time. At the start, my partner and I worked from 7 am to 10 pm ourselves, we looked at what time people were most active. Having studied the peaks in demand and having recruited a staff of professionals, we set the working day from 10:30 to 19:30. At the same time, the largest influx occurs in the evening: after work, people come to meetings, testing, demo lessons.

In addition, for the convenience of the client, you have to work on weekends, which at first was a big problem. Therefore, we have developed a duty regime. Now we have a person who works on Saturdays, but does not work on Mondays, and on Sunday one of the training coordinators is always on duty. It turns out that the employee is on duty once a month on Sunday and gets time off any day he wants. Thus, the office is almost always open, so the client can come at any time.

It goes without saying that long before the opening, it is necessary to take care of finding a suitable room for the school and its design. And there are a number of rules here too.

The school of foreign languages must be located in a place with good traffic. We took it as an axiom for ourselves that the distance from the metro is no more than 6 minutes. The allowable indicator for Moscow is up to 10 minutes from the metro.

In other cities, it is also worth focusing on public transport stops. One way or another, people should be able to calmly walk to you, and not ride on the crossbars. It is highly desirable that the school has its own parking, but in the city center this may be a problem.

It seems to many novice entrepreneurs that the office must be located in the center. Perhaps there is some truth in this. For example, our central office is always packed to order. But when choosing a room "more central", it is important to consider one point:

In the center of competitors on every corner

In addition, rental rates in the central regions are quite high and can vary significantly. For example, you can rent a class A office paying the appropriate price for it, and a competitor literally across the street rents a class B office, which is almost as good in quality, but its price is much lower.

The cost of rent ultimately affects the cost of the course for your students. Therefore, you need to adequately assess the average check, the budget of your client. Even those students for whom money is not a problem do not want to overpay just for a building. Before you go broke on the entourage, consider whether your customers will pay for it.

At the same time, according to the principle “the cheaper, the better”, you should not choose an office either. Too much budget options may not be entirely “clean” from a legal point of view.

It is advisable to resolve the issue with the premises together with a lawyer, so that he checks the contract and the building for “cleanliness”. Sometimes everything looks perfect, but after a couple of months it turns out that the building belongs to other people, and you can be kicked out the same day. This will seriously damage your reputation.

There are no strict requirements for the purpose and condition of the premises, for repairs in it. It is advisable to avoid the open space format. The walls must be built initially so that you do not have to divide the room yourself. Otherwise, sound insulation will suffer, and hence the quality of classes.

The number of classes will depend on the workload of the school. At the initial stage, 4-5 rooms are enough (the total area is about 60-80 sq.m, taking into account the entrance and administrative areas). Large quantity does not make sense as the classes will be empty. This often does not make the best impression on customers. It is better to eventually move to a larger premises in the same territorial block. It is undesirable to move to another area, since many clients are residents of neighboring houses, who are often not ready to attend their favorite school after it has moved.

In the case of registration of a non-state educational institution (non-state educational institution), a number of additional requirements for the premises appear: separate bathroom, a separate entrance, ceiling height - from 2.6 m, a source of natural light in each classroom, etc. It is also important to get opinions from firefighters and SES. They will be required to obtain a license to conduct educational activities.

The documents

Organizing a business in Russia, it must first of all be registered with the tax authorities. And for this, it is imperative to decide on the organizational and legal form of ownership of your future business: to work as an LLC, NOI or as an individual entrepreneur?

The IP form is, of course, good for beginners. It allows you to provide services to clients on a paid basis, rent premises, hire staff, but you will not be able to issue certificates to your graduates, and your activity from the point of view of the law will be only advisory, not educational. Corporate clients will not be available to you. And officially you will be considered only a specialist in foreign languages, and not their teacher.

In order for your school to become a full-fledged educational institution according to the laws in force today in Russia, you should register a NOU (non-state educational institution) or a commercial organization with the form of an LLC (limited liability company).

This will allow you to obtain a license to carry out educational activities. Such a document is drawn up at the territorial education authority, and in order to receive it, you need to provide a certain set of documents (the full list is specified in the authority itself). This is usually documentation related to the premises, the qualifications of teachers, the quality of teaching methods and plans, etc.

At the end of 2013, Russia adopted amendments to federal law on Education that private schools of any legal form have the opportunity to obtain a license to carry out educational activities. This is great news! But, unfortunately, the process of obtaining a license has not become easier, and the requirements for the licensee in the face of small private school are still overpriced.

To obtain a license for educational activities, it is best to use the help of specialized law firms. But do not confuse obtaining a license with its illegal "purchase". This will inevitably lead to repeated checks and detection of counterfeit.

A weighty argument in favor of obtaining a license is the opportunity for your customers to return their personal income tax (tax on income individuals- direct federal tax in Russia) from the amount paid for education (which is 13%). This is a significant competitive advantage.

About what you need to get a license

Typically, a license requires:

Copies of constituent documents certified by a notary;

Copies of documents certified by a notary, which confirm that you have a room for work;

Knowledge of a foreign language in a globalized world is considered mandatory for an educated person. It is good form to know at least one foreign language - English.   • Who will be trained for: kids, schoolchildren, applicants, adults, etc., for each social group you will need to develop your own methodology and purchase separate methodological materials;

  • how many languages will be studied.

It does not hurt to check the potential demand at the first stage: to estimate the number of English language schools in the city, their occupancy, the level of teaching, location, etc. Usually, all the advantages and disadvantages of the educational institution immediately become clear.

Important formulate a unique offer, which will interest the widest audience, as well as protect yourself from the mistakes that competitors have made.

School Registration

To open a school you will need:

  • or . If the school is organized by several people, it is easier to organize a company. If the founder plans to work alone or with the involvement of employees, then you can limit yourself to an individual entrepreneur. When choosing, you can use the "simplification".
  • Obtaining a license. For its registration, you need to contact the local department of education, they will tell you where and how to get it. Usually for this you have to go to Obrnazdor and present your business project there.
  • Accreditation. At the first stage, you can do without it. This document will allow issuing state-recognised school leaving certificates. You can issue it after 5 years of successful work.
  • Recertification. Every three years, the teaching staff must undergo recertification to verify the suitability of the position.

Room selection

This is a key moment for opening a school, on which the success of the entire enterprise as a whole depends. There are two approaches:

  • rent (or buy out if funds are available) a small office, or rent a classroom in an educational institution;
  • purchase or rent an entire building.

At first, the first option is preferable. If a whole building is bought (for example, a former kindergarten), then it is necessary to make repairs in it in accordance with the norms of the law. For offices, there are no such strict requirements. Of course, you will have to pass an inspection of the SES and fire supervision and obtain the appropriate permits, but this is not so difficult.

Where should the building be chosen?

Experts advise to be located:

  • close to existing educational institutions;
  • in busy and business areas of the city;
  • if the settlement is small - then in the very center;
  • if the city is large, it makes sense to open several offices in different areas to cover the largest number of residents.

The optimal room size is 50 square meters. It must have natural light.

Do not forget that it is possible will have to invest in repairs.

Purchase of the necessary equipment

Without fail you will need:

  • desks and chairs;
  • teaching desk and lectern;
  • board, chalk, pointer;
  • visual aids (for example, a map in a foreign language, a table of tenses, a list of basic irregular verbs, etc.);
  • training kits: textbooks, notebooks, work aids;
  • magazines;
  • optional - projector, interactive whiteboard, TV, computers or laptops, etc.

The exact composition of the manuals and kits will depend on the curricula in force. Each of them will need its own set of “tools”. Curricula can be developed by yourself, taken from free sources or ordered from professional teachers.

Formation of teaching staff

If the founder of the school plans to become a teacher, this, of course, will reduce costs. However, for full-fledged work, the institution will need additional educators: at least for a wider audience coverage and profit.

A teacher should be selected according to his professional qualities and submitted portfolio, based on reviews and recommendations from his previous place of work. It is good if the teacher has been teaching classes according to the same methodology for many years. So it will be possible to get a team of teachers of different formats and expand the range of services provided.

The recruitment of teachers is an ongoing process. It is optimal to accept new ones at the beginning of the school year or before the New Year, then the teacher has a greater chance of recruiting a group.

Basic Rules

You should follow the rules:

  • set depending on the load, no “equalization” - this will motivate for an additional set of students;
  • one teacher - one language, one program;
  • Don't forget to upgrade your skills.

Search for students

The most difficult: find those willing to learn. However, if there is “hunger” in the city for foreign schools, then there will be no problems with the influx of students. Another thing is if the niche is occupied and quite a competitor. The following tips will help here:

The new school should offer something truly unique and interesting, there should be a feature. For example, training is conducted on computers, communication with native speakers of a foreign language is offered, intensive preparation for the Unified State Examination is carried out by university teachers, there are express courses for businessmen, etc.

How to make a foreign language school popular?
