Frame for a lampshade with your own hands in the form. Preparation of textile tape

Lighting can both transform and make any room uncomfortable. Suffice it to recall cold hospital corridors, and, for example, a cafe, where there is always a soft warm light.

Especially in winter, people do not have enough sun, so it is very important that there is always light at home. Particular cozy atmosphere can be created using various lamps or floor lamps. However, it is not always possible to find a lamp suitable for the interior of the room. But do not be upset, because you can do it for any lamp.

DIY lampshade frame and base

First you need to choose a lamp or several lamps for which you need to make fabric lampshades... It is better to use luminaires with energy-saving or LED lamps... Regular light bulbs can simply burn fabric, so it's best not to risk it.

Before starting work, you need to remove the frame for which the lampshade will be created. If the lamp does not have a frame, then it can be purchased, for example, in special store or the construction department.

Also, a frame for any lamp, be it a floor lamp, table lamp or chandelier, you can make yourself. This will require thick wire and pliers.

The base can have any shape. It will be easier to make a lampshade for a cylindrical or tapered frame.

How to choose fabric for your lampshade

First of all, you need to choose the right fabric for your lampshade. You can use lightweight, stiff or dense material. If you wish, you can make a lampshade even from wool, it all depends on the idea of the creator and the interior of the room.

If the frame is made of regular wire, it is best to use an opaque material to cover it. Dark silk, cotton and taffeta will do.

It is also worth remembering that the color of the fabric can give both cold light and warm. In the first case, you can use blue or green fabric, and in the second, yellow, orange or red.

Required materials for making a lampshade

Fabric lampshades can be done different ways... If a new lampshade is glued over a regular solid-colored lampshade, then no preparatory work not required.

But if there is only a wire frame, then it is better to first cover it with paint, and then wrap it with a light or dark cotton ribbon.

To make the lampshade look neat, you need to sew it on a typewriter.

In addition, you will need:

  • iron;
  • simple pencil;
  • ruler;
  • the cloth;
  • pins;
  • threads matching the color to the material;
  • kraft paper (or any thick paper, as well as whatman paper);
  • glue (you can take special for fabric or universal).

When all necessary materials and tools at hand, you can start sewing DIY fabric lampshade.

DIY master class on making a lampshade

First step

First you need to make a template to cut required amount fabrics.

There are two ways: if the frame is cylindrical, then you can measure the circumference and draw one line on the fabric, and then measure the height and draw a second line. After that, it remains only to finish two more sides of the rectangle and cut out the template.

If the frame is tapered different shapes, then you can lay out the paper, take a pencil and gradually rolling the frame over the sheet, mark with a dotted line the lines of its sides.

The main thing is that the frame is completely scrolled, for this you can mark the starting point on it with a piece of thread, or a pin. Then you can connect the lines and cut the pattern.

Second step

In order not to cut off more, or even worse, less fabric, it is necessary to attach the template to the luminaire frame - it must completely fit in size. If the template is larger, you need to cut off the excess paper, if it is smaller, you will have to take measurements again and make a new template.

Third step

When the size of the template matches the size of the base for the lampshade, you can start attaching it to the fabric. If the material is with a picture, you need to position the template so that the drawn elements "look" in the desired direction. You need to calculate everything so that, for example, you do not cut off the head of a flying bird. Otherwise, the lamp will look ugly.

The template must be applied to the wrong side of the fabric, and then it must be secured with pins. After that, you can carefully trace the pattern along the contour. If the fabric is dark, you can use special fabric crayons or a bar of soap instead of a simple pencil.

After that, you need to draw the allowances. To do this, you need to draw lines at a distance of one and a half to two centimeters from the borders of the template.

Fourth step

Without removing the template from the fabric, you need to carefully remove the pins one at a time and wrap the allowances inward. It is necessary to fix the fold lines with pins.

Now you need to remove the template and fill sewing machine... The threads must be chosen so that they are almost invisible on the fabric.

Fifth step

Now you need to sew the resulting part on a typewriter. This needs to be done only on three sides - one of the sides must be left unprocessed, so that later to form a seam on the frame itself.

You need to stitch at a distance of five to seven millimeters from the edge. If desired, you can process the slices. But in any case, they will have to be hidden when the fabric is glued to the frame.

Sixth step

After that, you need to turn on the iron and iron the fabric workpiece well. If wrinkled parts remain, the fabric will not adhere well to the base, and the lampshade will look ugly.

Seventh step

The next part of the work must be carried out in a room that is well ventilated. First you need to cover work surface with unnecessary paper or an old tablecloth and spread out the fabric. Then you need to apply glue to it and stand for some time, which is indicated in the instructions for the glue.

Eighth step

Now you can glue the fabric to the frame. You need to hide the raw sections, and the seam should be made in such a way that the lampshade is covered with a stitched edge.

If the lampshade is attached to a wire base that is wrapped in cotton strips, you do not need to apply glue to the entire surface of the workpiece, it is enough only to the part that is in contact with the frame parts. In this case, you need to stretch the fabric well.

Ninth step

The finished lampshade must be left for a while so that it is completely dry. After about a day, you can put the lampshade on your favorite lamp and enjoy a beautiful item that will definitely decorate any interior.

Fabric lampshade decoration

Table lamp with shade looks much nicer than just an ordinary naked lamp. But if a monochromatic color is chosen for the lampshade, then you can decorate it in an original way. Here are some ideas on how you can do interesting decoration fabric lampshade.

Provencal lampshade

In order to decorate a plain lampshade, you will need a piece of fabric and a fringe. Usually, green, turquoise and pastel shades of colors are used, checkered colors or floral patterns are also suitable.

First, you need to choose a suitable fabric for a solid-color lampshade and cut out two strips from it - one to decorate the top of the lampshade. This strip of fabric should be long enough to completely wrap around the circle and make the bow. The second strip should be about the circumference of the lower part of the lampshade, and the fringe should be sewn to it. This can be done on a sewing machine.

All free edges of the fabric must be processed so that it does not crumble. After that, using glue or thread with a needle, you need to attach the fringe tape to the base of the lampshade so that the fringe hangs down.

Then you need to decorate the top of the lampshade. To do this, you need to glue or also sew the tape along the circumference, and tie the free edges with a bow.

You can also use lace for a Provencal lampshade. This element is good because it can be simply glued to the fabric.

You can make lace flowers, stripes, or completely glue the fabric lampshade with lace napkins.

Lampshade with fabric flowers

Another one unusual idea which will allow table lamp with lampshade to become like a flower bed - decoration with flowers from fabric.

For flowers, fabric of delicate shades is perfect, you can use, for example, organza or chiffon, or you can simply take, for example, an old jacket, cut into strips and twist roses from them.

A lampshade can only be decorated with a few flowers, but if you have the time and patience, you can make a whole bunch of flowers to completely cover the lampshade.

DIY lampshade from scraps

If there are many pieces of different fabrics at home, you can make a lampshade out of colorful patches.

In order to make such a lampshade, it is necessary to use the technique of sewing the pieces to the fabric base. The easiest way is to cut a piece of fabric to the size of the frame and divide it into several gussets.

Then you need to sew shreds to each wedge as you like - you can sew strips of fabric diagonally, or make small squares. So that the process does not drag out, it is better to use a sewing machine.

After that, all the wedges with shreds will need to be sewn together and glued to the base of the lampshade.

Such a lamp can perfectly fit into the country style!

Lampshade made of unusual materials

When the lampshade is made by yourself, you can give free rein to imagination and experiment. To do original thing, you first need to find unusual material.

It is very interesting, for example, in the kitchen, a lampshade made of burlap can look. This fabric transmits light well. Such a lampshade can be decorated with some wooden details for example with clothespins or wooden beads and buttons.

You can also use old lace napkins to decorate your grandmother's. Also, on such a lampshade, you can write something with white or black paint, as is usually written on bags.

For a teenager's room, you can sew a lampshade in. This will require denim. And it is not necessary to buy it, you can just cut old jeans - such a thing, for sure, will be found in every person.

Such a lampshade can be decorated, for example, with a denim pocket, where you can insert artificial flower or a piece of a checkered handkerchief. You can also use applique for such a lampshade. Pieces of leather are suitable for this.

For example, for a lamp that will stand in a girl's room or bedroom, you can sew a delicate mesh lampshade. You can find this kind of fabric at any sewing store.

It will be interesting to look at the lampshade, which is made of several layers of mesh - it will resemble a ballerina's tutu or a fluffy skirt.

Traditional lamps with fabric shades are beautiful table lamps, luxurious chandeliers, laconic sconces that create a romantic and cozy atmosphere in any room. If you have such items at home, do not forget that they are easy to inhale. new life by making a do-it-yourself lampshade based on an old lamp.

Tip 1. In this way, it is best to update lampshades, the diameters of the upper and lower rings of which are equal. If you decide to decorate a lamp with rings different sizes, do not rush to throw out old decor... He will help you make the right pattern. Without it, it will be quite difficult to choose the size of the fabric, be careful with the calculations.

Main materials:

  • lampshade textiles;

Tip 2. To find out how the fabric will look when the light is on, you can bring a sample of textiles to the window. When making a lampshade for a lamp with your own hands, you should not choose too dense textiles, it can skip insufficient quantity Sveta.

  • upper and lower lampshade ring;
  • plastic with adhesive solution for gluing textiles, designed for the manufacture of lamps. (Available from specialized stores, may also be called "PVC film for lampshades"). The color of the plastic is selected depending on the shade of the fabric. For light colors, it is better to use white.

Technique (good if you have it, but you can do without it):

  • sewing machine;
  • iron;

For measurements:

  • a ruler or other flat long object;
  • square;
  • tailor's meter.

Little things:

  • paper tape;
  • masking tape;
  • chalk for drawing;
  • PVA glue;
  • pencil;
  • scissors;
  • clips for paper or clothespins;
  • glue brushes (preferably thin);
  • threads.

Prepare:

  • work surface (table);
  • heavy objects that can be used as weights when gluing;
  • a damp cloth or towel that can be used to remove glue residues from the product.

We make a lampshade with our own hands. Master Class .

Stage 1. Preparation

1. Measure the diameter of the rings and determine the height of the future lampshade. Make a note of this information.

2. Cut the plastic to size. Keep in mind that the length of the plastic must be a couple of centimeters larger than the diameter of the bases so that it can be connected into a ring.

3. Cut the fabric, having previously added 2-5 centimeters on each side to the measurements from point 1, so that you get a comfortable further work cut. Consider the location of the pattern on the lampshade. This point is especially important in the case of large ornaments.

Tip 3. A cut of fabric for ease of use can be attached with masking tape to the table, face down. So it will not move and wrinkle.

4. Finally, we determine the location of the ornament on the future lampshade. We mark on the fabric the exact edge of the future lampshade (according to the dimensions from point 1). To do this, you can draw a corner from the left and bottom edges. This will be enough for further work.

Step 2. Gluing the fabric

5. Prepare the PVC tape for bonding. Make sure the fabric is clean and free of lint and other small debris. We start gluing using the lines made in the previous step.

6. Gluing should be done gently, holding the fabric, if necessary, use a ruler to remove air pockets and wrinkles. The fabric remaining from the edges can be cut so that the edge of about 5 mm protrudes beyond the PVC tape.

Stage 3. Preparation of rings

7. Place the rings on the table to make sure the rings are straight. If some part is not in contact with the surface, align the frame until it becomes flat.

Stage 4. Gluing the structure.

8-9. Secure the lampshade with the glued PVC tape to the top and bottom ring using paper clips or clothespins. Make sure that the indentation from the edge is the same everywhere and the lampshade evenly adheres to the frame.

10. After making sure that the lampshade is attached correctly, without distortions, mark with a pencil the beginning and end of the seam, the top and bottom lines, mark where the top and bottom of the lampshade are located.

11. Then the structure can be disassembled. To accurately glue the lampshade with your own hands, connect the top and bottom points of the seam with chalk.

12. Place the workpiece face down on the table. Fold over the edge with the marked line and apply the adhesive gently without going over the edge.

13. Join the seam.

14. Place the lampshade and press down on the seam as shown in the illustration.

Step 5. Edging

15. After the adhesive has dried, remove the press. Place the lampshade with its top edge on the table. Gently apply a thin layer of glue around the inner edge of the lower edge of the lampshade.

16. Insert the frame, fold the fabric, fixing the edge on the ring with clothespins. After the glue is dry, you can start working on the other edge.

17. Place the remaining frame inside the lampshade and only then apply the glue. To make the inner ring joints less visible, position one of them over the seam. The structure is also secured with clothespins until dry.

18. Make sure the rings are tight. Only then carefully remove the clothespins.

Step 6. Bonding the paper tape

19. Place your pencil on the table and draw a line as shown in the picture.

20. Apply the adhesive in a new line and secure the paper tape to it, aligning the joints of the tape and the fabrics of the lampshade. Half of the tape is attached to the outer edge as in the photo.

21. Glue the entire tape in this way.

22. In the places where the central guides of the frame are located, cut out small triangles in the tape like in the picture.

23. Carefully apply glue to the remainder of the tape and tuck it inward, tucking it under the ring. Make sure that the tape is applied evenly.

24. Repeat steps 20, 21, and 23 for the bottom edge.

25. Below we will tell you how to make a do-it-yourself lampshade with a textile ribbon of the same color, but you can choose not to use this technology, but choose other options for the finished finish: fringe, ribbons of a different color, etc.

Preparation of textile tape

In total, three ribbons need to be made in this way:

- two for processing the bottom edge. (Their length should be a couple of cm more than the diameter of the rings);

- one equal to the height of the lampshade to mask the joint.

1. On the existing piece of textiles draw parallel lines about 5 cm wide at an angle of 45 degrees to the weaving of the fibers. (If you want to make a wider or narrower edging, you can change the width of the tape. However, remember that there should be enough cut to cover the paper tape and tuck in.)

2. Cut the fabric into ribbons.

3. The edges of the tapes must be cut at a 45 degree angle and sewn. Remember that you will need right and left angled tapes. You need to choose the right ornament, which will make the junction invisible.

26. Smooth out the joints of the tapes with an iron.

Stage 7. Mask the junction.

Tip 4. To make a beautiful lampshade with your own hands, you should observe the maximum accuracy and clarity of actions at this and the next stages.

27. Take a tape of a shorter length and, dividing it into approximately 3 parts, glue it together as shown in the figure below. For a better connection, you can iron the tape with an iron. Attach the rest of the tape in the same way.

28. After it is completely dry, apply on inner side glue and stick the tape to the joint on the lampshade.

Step 8. Finishing the edges of the lampshade

29. Fold one end of the long tape in half and cut the edge off at a 45 degree angle. After the turn, you should have a triangle cutout. Tuck the edges of the tape so that they join in the middle of the wrong side (see picture) and glue them in the same way as in step 27.

30. Glue the tape in the same way as we did in points 20 and 21. In this case, you do not need to glue the end of the tape yet, just secure it with a clothespin. It will be more convenient to work if you apply glue to the tape from the inside to one of the halves.

31. After making sure that the tape is glued evenly, proceed to join the ends. At the other end (flat), cut the triangle in a mirror-like fashion, so that when you join it, you get a continuous ribbon.

32. Apply glue to the ends and gently join them.

33. Repeat step 23 to secure the tape to the inside of the lampshade.

34. Repeat Step 8 for the second edge.

After complete drying, the production of the lampshade can be considered complete. All that remains is to attach it to the lamp and enjoy the result.

Comfort in the house and new creative solutions!

← share the light with others

Lighting is the most important component of the interior. The comfort and level of comfort of our home depends on the lighting. The play of light and shadow allows you to play up the winning moments of the interior and divert attention from unfortunate moments. And also - lamps, floor lamps, chandeliers and lamps create the atmosphere that we call "home". Unique lighting fixtures and The best way- make a lampshade with your own hands. Homemade shades and lampshades are the strong point that will make your home stand out from others.

A few words about safety

In the manufacture of lamps, floor lamps and chandeliers in industrial conditions, a preliminary calculation is made of the minimum distance from the "body" of the lamp to the materials. This distance depends on the power and thermal radiation of the lamp and on the type (combustibility) of the material from which the shade / lampshade is made. At home, hardly anyone will bother with such calculations. And in order not to create a dangerous situation, it is worth adhering to certain rules.

And in general, having made a lampshade and installing it, in the first few days, pay attention to whether the ceiling is warming up. Any rise in temperature above the environment... If the shade feels warm, change the bulb to a less powerful one. Check again. So until the homemade lampshade is warm.

Where to get the frame

If you want to remake an old lamp, a floor lamp, the sconces of which the old lampshade has become unusable, you can simply use the existing base by stripping old stuff... Before starting work, inspect the frame well, if there is rust or damaged coating somewhere, maybe it is worth peeling and painting everything again? At the same time, the color can be changed. If there are no old frames, you can buy an inexpensive lamp (in a store or at a flea market) and do the same with it. Quite good lampshades can, by the way, be made from waste baskets. They are wire, there are plastic. The main thing is to find the right one in shape and size. Then in the bottom you make a hole for the cartridge. Further - it is a matter of decoration / trimming, and then there are a lot of options.

If this method is not available either, you can make a lampshade without a frame (there are some) or make a frame yourself. The material for making a frame for a lampshade with your own hands is: wire, wood (wooden or bamboo sticks, specially cut elements), plastic bottles.

How to make a wire frame for a homemade lampshade

The wire for the lamp frame needs aluminum or steel. Aluminum is easy to work with, but it wrinkles easily. This is not very important when the lampshade is already in use, but this fact must be taken into account during operation: you can spoil the shape. On the other hand, such plasticity makes it easy and simple to make changes to the shape during operation. So it's not a bad option. Aluminum wire can be obtained from electrical cables... You will have to remove the protective shell and you can use it.

Steel wire is more elastic so that it retains its shape well. You can search for it on construction market... Working with her is more difficult. It is desirable to have strong male hands nearby.

In addition to the wire, you will need powerful wire cutters and pliers for work. The frame of a lampshade usually consists of two rings and posts connecting them. The shape of the future lampshade depends on the size of the rings and the shape of the racks. Questions may arise about the number of racks and how they are attached. The number of posts depends on the size of the rings and how “round” you want the lampshade. The more racks there are, the smoother the fabric will lie. So it's up to you, but the optimal distance between the posts along the lower circle is about 5-6 cm.

Techniques for creating a frame for a wire lampshade

How you attach the stack to the rings of your lampshade depends on the thickness and type of wire and the tools you have. The easiest way is to make a small hook at the end, then clamp it tightly. And so that the ring does not slide left and right, pre-process the wire at the attachment point with coarse-grain sandpaper. This is an option for thick aluminum wires. If the wire is steel, with a diameter of 1.2-2 mm or more, the best way is. The thinner wire can be bent and wrapped around the ring, or you can also make a hook.

If you make hooks, wrap the wire, appearance it turns out to be far from being as ideal as with factory frames. But this imperfection will be covered by the lampshade itself. If you still care about it, find a ribbon of a suitable color (usually matched to the color of the lampshade) and carefully wrap the resulting frame. It will get much better. The tape can be coated with PVA glue and, wet, tightly, turn by turn, wrap the frame.

Wire mesh

If you can find a mesh from thin wire, you can quickly make an almost perfect cylindrical shade for a floor lamp, table lamp, night light, candle shade, etc. All you need is to cut off a piece of mesh of the required length and width, roll it into a ring and fasten the wires by wrapping them around the racks.

To prevent the mesh from straightening when cutting a piece, cut so that there are long loose ends on both sides. They will be used to fasten the cylindrical shade. And the imperfection of the upper and lower rings can be masked with a tape of the desired color.

From a five liter plastic bottle

An interesting shape of a lampshade can be obtained from a large-capacity plastic bottle. There are bottles of 5-6 liters and even 10. So they can be used. Cut off the top or bottom from the container - depending on what you like best. In the cut off part, we make a ring for the cartridge. If the top is cut off, the neck can be used for some cartridges. For those with a larger diameter, it will have to be cut.

Then we cut out the excess plastic, form the rims and stands of the plafond. In order not to be mistaken, you can first draw all the lines with a marker. It will be easier to cut. Everything is elementary. Then we just decorate. And yes, you must cut out the plastic, otherwise warm air there will be nowhere to go.

We make lampshades on the frame

There are enough options for how you can make a lampshade cover:

From ribbons

The simplest and quick way to transform an old lampshade for a floor lamp or table lamp - use ribbons. You need a frame or a lampshade in the form of a cylinder. It can be “naked” or covered in fabric. If you use a "bare" wireframe, light will filter through the slits, which will create interesting lighting effects, but the lighting will be uneven. It is inconvenient to read in this light - this is an interior solution. If you need even lighting, wrap the fabric over the frame first. It can be the same color as the ribbons, a couple of tones darker or lighter, it can be contrasting. It all depends on your desire. And remember that the darker the fabric, the less light the lampshade lets through.

We take a tape with a width of 1-2.5 cm. We fix it from the seamy side of the lampshade using PVA glue, additionally fixing it with a pin. If we took a wire frame without fabric, we attach it to the upper or lower rim (you can sew it with your hands, you can use glue). Then we begin to wrap the entire frame, from top to bottom, placing the turns of the tape close to each other, but without overlap.

After completing the circle, unfold the tape 90 °. We fix it in this position (with a needle and thread or PVA glue, glue from a pistol, temporarily fixing it with a pin, pressing it with a clothespin). Then we pass the tape under the first tape, take it out, put it on top of the second one, then pull it down again, pull it up through one tape. So, gradually, we create a weave, filling the entire lampshade.

Alternatively, you can skip two vertical belts. But then you need to make sure that each next row is shifted by one crossbar. Then you get a different type of weave. Such a lampshade is ideal for floor lamps, as it will direct the light downward, and the dispersion through the walls will be small.

In this version, the ribbons can be the same, they can be of the same color, but of different textures, they can differ by a couple of tones or be contrasting. The tapes can be run in a continuous circle around the circle, or after a certain distance. If you find a wide tape and overlap it, then you won't need horizontal ones at all. And if you use a braided or twisted cord (in the lower photo on the right), we get a completely different kind of lampshade. So only this lampshade finishing technique gives a lot of options.

Let's briefly present the ideas. There are many options for how you can customize standard lampshade frames. The first method has already been announced: you can knit a lamp shade cover on knitting needles or crochet. Several options in the photo.

Not everyone knows how to knit. It's easier to work with beads, especially if you glue them. You can decorate old fabric with beads, sequins, beads of different shapes and sizes. You can make such a "new-old" lampshade with your own hands in a couple of hours. Pick up jewelry that matches the color, coat the fabric with PVA glue, glue the jewelry. To complete the image, you can collect pendants from beads and beads that are attached to the lower rim, but this is already painstaking work... The effect is interesting though.

You can sew a new fabric lampshade. But it is not necessary to make it an updated copy of the old one. Fantasy should be included! If a lamp or floor lamp is in the girls' room, new case on the lampshade can be made in the form of a skirt. You choose the style of the skirt yourself. They look interesting in the fold. With and without ruffles.

In the boy's room, you can use the old geographic map... They are on thick paper. If the paper is not thick enough, first you need to glue the card onto the cardboard, and then glue the lampshade from such a blank.

Original shades are obtained if the finished frame is braided with threads or ropes. The ropes can be natural. In this case, they are gray, brown beige. Thin synthetic colored cords can be found. From them you will get more "fun" in color products. The situation is even simpler with knitting threads. They are thin, thick, textured, with a smoothly changing color. In general, there are a lot of options.

We take the frame and weave it according to a certain pattern. You can start with the racks. Braid each rack with a pigtail (the length of the threads should be 3 times the height of the rack). When this work is over, we begin to stretch the threads / ropes between the posts. They will need to be passed through the pigtails, so with threads it is more convenient to do this with a needle, and the ropes can be inserted like that.

The second option is to first entangle the entire frame horizontally, and then braid the racks. The pigtail will no longer work here, you just need to fix the turns on the rack with inclined stitches with a certain inclination. This version is somewhat simpler in execution, but the "pigtails" look more decorative.

Homemade shades without a frame

Many materials are tough enough to hold their shape on their own and, at the same time, they are flexible enough to make something interesting out of them. Of such homemade lampshades well, a lot. And almost all of them are worth your attention. We will give here only a part, the other part will go in the section with photos (see below).

From knitted lace napkins

Many people have crocheted napkins and they lie in the "stash boxes", as it is a pity to throw it away, and do not know how to use it. There are very interesting idea- make a lampshade out of them for a chandelier on a suspension. In addition to napkins, you will need a large balloon or a bouncy ball, glue for heavy wallpaper (vinyl, silkscreen, etc.), a brush.

Soak the glue according to the instructions, wait until it swells. We inflate the ball or take the ball, hang it up. When the glue is ready, lay out a napkin on some clean surface, coat it with glue, put it on a ball.

It is necessary to spread it on such a condition that a hole for the cartridge remains in the center. Glue the napkins one by one. They should be laid out so that the edges overlap slightly. When all the napkins are laid, we coat them with glue again and leave to dry. When the glue is dry, blow off the ball or ball (the ball can be punctured, if not sorry) and take it out through the hole. That's all, the lace lampshade is ready.

In some cases, problems arise with how to hang the finished lampshade on the cartridge. The problem is solved simply - take a transparent plastic bottle, cut off its neck, if necessary, expand the hole to the required size (so that it fits tightly on the cartridge), then cut off the plastic so that you get a ring 5-7 cm wide.You coat this ring with PVA glue, and glue it to the lampshade from the inside of the ball.

Round shades made of threads

Practically the same technology can be used to make round and semicircular stylish shades. Choose a thread of a suitable color. Their composition is absolutely unimportant - the color, thickness and texture are important. They can be shaggy, smooth, twisted, thinner and thicker. The appearance depends on it. It is most convenient to work with medium-thick cotton threads. They absorb glue well and then, after drying, keep their shape perfectly.

You will also need a ball or a ball. This will be the base of the lampshade that defines the shape. The dimensions of the base are selected at will. The threads will need to be glued, for this you need PVA glue. It is poured into a container, diluted with water in a 1: 1 ratio.

Other glue can also be used. It is important that it becomes transparent after drying. These are WB-29 from TYTAN Professional and D2 glue for joinery. If you will be using any of these types of glue, read the instructions.

Draw a circle on the ball or ball, which will be slightly smaller in size than the lamp holder. Draw a larger circle on the opposite side - this will be the lower edge of the plafond. Now everything is ready, we can proceed.

We coat the threads with glue and wind them around the ball in a chaotic manner. It is more convenient to do this if the glue is poured into a container - you can lower the entire skein there, and just slowly pull the thread. With glue in a tube, everything is not so comfortable: you have to coat areas up to a meter long, wind up, smear again. Time takes much longer. This is if you use non-PVA. But on the other hand, the products turn out to be more rigid and do not sag, do not change shape over time, as can happen with filament lampshades on PVA.

When winding threads on a ball, carefully go around the drawn circles. If you accidentally climbed into the "forbidden territory", we simply move the threads, forming an even (more or less even) edge. When the threads run out or you decide that there is enough density, the process can be stopped. We thread the edge of the thread between the others. Everything. Then we coat the ball with wound threads again with glue (PVA can be poured) and leave it to dry (at least 2 days). To prevent the ball from rolling, we find a bowl or saucepan and use it as a stand.

The last step is to blow off the ball or ball. If the ball has a nipple, press on it with a thin wire, releasing air. We take out the deflated ball. That's all, you can thread the lamp inside and test the lampshade.

The technology is the same, but the look is very different ...

Using the technology described above, it is possible to make not only round shades. Rectangular, triangular, trapezoidal. Choose a base that is easy to remove, wind up threads dipped in glue, braid, even sticks, newspaper tubes, etc. After drying, remove the base and now, you have made a lampshade with your own hands. A couple of examples in the photo below.

You can also use sticks…. Only wrap the ball with cling film and use transparent carpentry instead of PVA glue.

Good luck in job!

A lamp shade can be made from almost any material. The finished frame will greatly simplify the work, but if it is not there, it does not matter.

To make the frame you will need:

  • wire with a thickness of 4 mm and 1 mm;
  • pliers;
  • hacksaw for metal;
  • lamp holder with wire;
  • nippers;
  • glue.

First, let's decide what size the frame will be. It usually consists of two rings (large and smaller in diameter). For a cylindrical product, use two rings of the same size.

It is simple to make rings - we bend two circles of a certain size from wire. We wrap the junction of the circle with a thin aluminum wire and apply glue to the surface. For the manufacture of complex design you will need not two, but several circles.

Now let's start creating the "ribs" for the lampshade. We also make them from wire: we attach them to the circles, wrap the joints with wire and glue them.

The next step is to secure the lamp holder to the frame. We make a loop of thick wire and wrap the cartridge. Ponytails cling to the upper circle of the frame.

This is not in a difficult way you can independently make a frame for the lampshade of a table lamp.
