Wooden spinner drawing. Do-it-yourself spinner: step-by-step photo instructions General instructions before starting work

Spinner is rapidly conquering the world. Millions of people from all over the world spin and toss this toy at work, in traffic jams, at home, on a walk, in line, etc. Spinner is a powerful and at the same time very simple and affordable anti-stress, which helps to get rid of tension and relax without attracting attention. The spinner became so popular that people began to do various tricks with it. This toy is loved by everyone from young to old: it is played by both preschoolers and big bosses in modern offices.

Spinner is an affordable thing. If at first they could only be found online, today they are sold literally on every corner, and there are very budget options. However homemade spinners not inferior in popularity ready-made options: Web users are actively looking for how to make a do-it-yourself spinner at home. And this is easy to explain: homemade spinners are unique, made from improvised materials, and their manufacture is also a kind of anti-stress.

We offer you several options for making this accessory. The first is the most time-consuming, the rest are a little easier. Choose the one that seems most understandable to you and you like the most.

Option one: difficult, but interesting

We will use really only improvised means. We will need:

  • wooden ice cream sticks (20 pieces);
  • metal or ceramic bearing (if you want the spinner to spin easier and longer, opt for the latter) size 8*22*7;
  • 50-kopeck coins (make a hole in its center with an awl) (12 pieces);
  • nuts and bolts, small in size and diameter (4 pieces each);
  • buttons from jeans or jeans (or the simplest pushpins) (2 pieces);
  • glue;
  • sandpaper;
  • paint (it is more convenient to take aerosol).

How to make a spinner?

Step 1: Preparation

We take two wooden sticks and cut each into two equal parts (along). That is, at the output of two sticks we already have four.

Now we take five whole sticks, press them tightly against each other and apply a layer of glue on top. We put the second layer of sticks on top: put four whole ones in the center, and put the previously cut sticks along the edges. We cover with a layer of glue and them. The third layer will consist of five whole sticks (like the first one). The fourth and last layer is a repetition of the second.

At the output, we have a base consisting of four layers of sticks glued together.

Step 2: Basic work

Choose the size of the spinner for you. We will tell you on the example of a 9 * 9 square, but the proportions can be freely changed.

Make marks on the workpiece and cut out a square (say, 9 cm).

Now inside the square we draw an equilateral triangle. To do this, divide one of the sides of our square in half and draw two 9 cm segments from this point, and then connect the ends.

Then divide each side of the triangle exactly in half and make serifs. Connect each notch to the opposite vertex. The intersection point of these segments (they are called medians) is the center of the spinner, in which we will place the bearing. Outline it with a pencil.

On the same segments, make notches at a distance of 2.5 cm from each vertex. Place a coin in the center of each of them (a hole is needed to align the hole with the serif and not go astray) and circle it with a pencil.

Using an awl or a sharp knife, dig holes inside the traced outlines. And then loosen them to cut even holes. You can press the bearing and the coin into the workpiece (but carefully so that the glued layers do not separate).

Cut out a triangle from the workpiece. Now we make two-centimeter serifs in the center of each of its sides. Like this:

The notch height at the median is 7 mm. Cut out these side triangles.

Step 3: Polishing

We take sandpaper and sand the surface of the future spinner. We walk around the edges. We paint the workpiece on both sides and leave to dry.

Step 4: Loads

We glue four coins together. We will have 3 stacks that we will insert into our holes in the spinner. Place the bearing in the center.

To make it easier to turn it, we place the previously prepared buttons or buttons in the center of the bearing and glue them. Ready product can be varnished.

Tip: if you own a jigsaw and a drill, take note of the diagrams from our instructions and make the spinner body not from ice cream sticks, but from ordinary wood panel. Then just sand your workpiece with sandpaper, paint and varnish.

Ready!

Option two: the easiest

Using superglue, glue gun or cold welding connect three or more bearings together. A video tutorial on making a spinner at home is below.

Option three: energy-intensive

It is most reliable to connect the bearings not just with glue, but also with a housing. For this, ordinary screeds are suitable, as well as wooden (as in the first method), plastic and metal cases. How to make them, see the next master class.

Option four: for cyclists

If you have an old bicycle chain, this DIY spinner is for you. True, you will have to work hard to make this popular toy. We lay the chain in a special way, fasten it with a tie, fix it, put the bearing in the center. Watch the video for detailed step by step instructions.

Option five: if you don’t have cutting tools, but you still want to make a spinner

A paper or cardboard spinner is also a great option for this toy. It will spin no worse! We take cardboard and a compass, cut out 4 circles of equal diameter from it (determine the size of the spinner for yourself, it doesn’t matter), glue them together. Take bright cardboard or paper to make the toy more attractive and please you not only with its properties, but also with its appearance.

Make holes for bearings slightly smaller than the diameter of the bearings themselves. This is necessary so that they sit tightly and do not slip out when you twist your toy. Learn more about making such a spinner in this video.

Option six: if there are no bearings, but the spinner is still very necessary

If you do not have bearings, the spinner can be made from simple material, which is easier to get - from plastic caps. We need six pieces (take colored ones to make the toy look prettier and more interesting) and a toothpick or pen rod.

Let's see how to make a bearing from plastic caps.

Bonus

The video tutorial below shows three of the most simple ways making a spinner at home. They all repeat the last three instructions in one way or another (No. 4, 5 and 6), but in this video you will also find several important tips for the production of a popular anti-stress toy.

Choose the method that seems most interesting and understandable to you. It is quite possible to make a spinner with your own hands in 2-3 minutes, or you can get confused and make a toy in a more time-consuming way. The result will directly depend on your efforts. However, no matter which method you choose, at the end you will definitely get a cool anti-stress toy, which is so popular today.

Despite the fact that the peak of popularity of the anti-stress toy, fashionable in 2016-2017, began to subside, many are still looking for ways to create an original little thing that will help to have fun on long trips, long lines or in difficult life situations. Naturally, we are talking about a do-it-yourself spinner. How to create it at home, and what you need for this - more in our material.

What are spinners for and how do they work?

Each twist dismantles the individuality of its owner.

fidget spinner is a rotating flat or 3D toy that is popular with adults and children around the world. the globe. Its main purpose is to occupy and distract . Someone thinks that spinner useful , because thanks to him you can get away from everyday life and psychological problems relieve irritability, get rid of anxiety. Others claim that thanks to the turntable you can focus on the right things , distracting from everything superfluous. Be that as it may, the glory of the toy needs no explanation, because literally everyone loves it.

There are many forms of the so-called hand twister. It will depend not only on the invented design, but also on the component parts available in stock. To understand the specifics of the work when creating a do-it-yourself spinner, you need to know just a few important points.

The obligatory traditional elements of the spinner are:

  • bearing;
  • wings.

The most important part of a spinner is the bearing. It will depend on him how long and fast the toy will spin, as well as his sound accompaniment and emitted vibrations. In many homemade toys bearings are often replaced with primitive toothpick designs , which also allow the wings of the toy to spin.

Wings, or petals, can be from two to six , but often you can find two or three petals. It is these elements of the spinner that give room for imagination, allow you to embody bold ideas, show individuality.

Unusual design one of the most primitive forms of toys - round.

The so-called spinners made of plastic, metal, wood, cardboard and many other materials. Often materials are combined. Recently, plastic or metal toys with luminous wings.

Products made of plastic, wood and copper.

The design of many do-it-yourself spinners is amazing. Many decorate their toys with interesting engravings, illustrations, badges. . The model of a small spinner that fits in the palm of your hand allows you to characterize its owner without further ado.

Today, a spinner can be bought in almost any store. There are budget models, and there are expensive original or even designer ones. But in order to stand out from the crowd, you need to make a certain effort, for example, do it yourself original item for yourself or your child, relative, friend (for example, as a gift). If a kid asked for such a fashionable product as a spinner, so much the better, because he can be involved in the creative process, starting with choosing a model and ending with the creation of a memorable toy.

General instructions before starting work

Before you start working on your spinner, you need to have an idea of what exactly the person wants to get as a result. So that the result does not disappoint, you need to work according to a simple scheme.

  • Stage number 1 - we select a model and design

Because possible models there are countless spinners, and we are all different, and we like different things, then for a start you can choose suitable model from the easy ones. This is necessary so that the process does not turn into a punishment. Or you can go the other way and choose the most original model made of special material unusual shape. This option is suitable for those who have already tried to create things with their own hands.

Do-it-yourself hand spinner options.
  • Stage number 2 - draw and draw

To make it work, you should take care of the drawing on a scale of 1: 1. You can draw a future spinner model on paper, or you can search for finished drawings on the vast expanses of the Internet.

Drawings and blanks.
  • Stage number 3 - we prepare tools

Now that the creator has decided on the design, and schematic representation ready, you can start preparing all the necessary materials.

The first step is to purchase (or remove from old equipment) a bearing. It can be made of metal or ceramic. The most acceptable option is a diameter of 2 mm. To ensure a pleasant pastime in the future, professionals advise clean the part from grease in a "bath" of gasoline before it is in the toy. Why clean the bearing from grease? It makes the rotation slower, besides, it stains hands, clothes and furniture.

In addition to the prefabricated parts of the spinner, you will also need the following tools:

  1. Construction marker (pen, pencil, regular felt-tip pen);
  2. Scissors;
  3. Stationery knife;
  4. Elements decorative finishes(optional);
  5. Glue;
  6. Special tools for creating the wings we need (tools for working with wood or metal).

Preparatory stage.
  • Stage number 4 - create a spinner

When the preparation is over, you can safely start making a toy with your own hands. Next, consider several popular options for creating spinners from various materials in several ways.

Varieties of twisters for hands created from improvised means.

Paper and cardboard spinner without bearing

The most popular option for those who are in no hurry to run after the bearing and cut squiggles out of metal or wood is to make the first simple spinner out of cardboard and paper. Doing it yourself is really easy, and if you show a little more imagination, then a simple cardboard box can turn into an original canvas for your favorite icons or drawings.

Tools for work:

  1. ruler;
  2. compass;
  3. pencil;
  4. a pen;
  5. scissors;
  6. stationery knife;
  7. cardboard;
  8. glue;
  9. toothpick;
  10. nut - 2 pcs.

You can watch the video step by step:

With plastic lids

Another simple way to create a do-it-yourself spinner, which will take a little more time, is a model from ordinary bottle caps. By the way, this method also does not require bearings. Here is a little step by step guide.

Tools for work:

  1. caps - 4-6 pcs.;
  2. plasticine (you can kinetic sand);
  3. glue gun;
  4. glue stick;
  5. lighter;
  6. awl;
  7. stationery knife;
  8. toothpick;
  9. scissors.

Progress:

  • Fill three covers (or more if the spinner has more wings) almost to the top with plasticine. We fix it with a layer of glue from the gun, which should fill the lids to the top.
  • The main cap remains without filler. In it, we make a hole with an awl in the very center. We glue plasticine covers on the sides to this central part of the future spinner. It is important to do this at an equal distance from each other.
  • Take a stick of glue and cut off two equal parts - about 1 cm each.
  • We break the toothpick in the center. We insert it into the central cover and attach pieces of a silicone rod to the ends so that it is convenient to hold the piece of wood.
  • Do-it-yourself spinner is ready!

Wooden with bearing

Wooden spinner - the most pleasant and affordable option, which you can create with your own hands. A real labor lesson for adults and children!

Tools for work:

  • Glue gun;
  • Bearing 2 mm;
  • Plywood sheet, thickness 5mm;
  • Several coins;
  • Drill;
  • Jigsaw manual;
  • Clamp;
  • Scissors;
  • Sandpaper;
  • Pencil or building marker;
  • Ready-made spinner template.

Progress:

  1. Print out the diagram and cut it out. We fix it on a plywood sheet and circle it. It is necessary to mark the places in each of the circles where there will be holes.
  2. We drill additional holes on the sides of the circles with the door, allowing you to cut out a beautiful circle figure from the inside of the wing.
  3. The future spinner needs to be cut out of plywood with a jigsaw. Then carefully process the edges and surface with sandpaper to a smooth surface.
  4. The bearing must be inserted into the hole prepared for it in the center. In case of difficulty, you can use a hammer and drive metal element in wooden.
  5. The wings of the "twist" need to be weighted - for this you will need coins. You can glue the weights for each hole in the following order: a five-ruble coin, then two, and again five, as shown in the video.
  6. You can cover it with solid color paint, or you can decorate it with other interesting and original way- there is room for imagination, which is so nice to realize with your own hands.

Video tutorials on creating spinners

To get comfortable with creating a do-it-yourself spinner, you can check out some video tutorials on this topic. The conditions of creation can be very different, as well as materials and styles, but a home spinner can turn out to be no worse than a factory one.

Here is another way to create paper spinners, this time in the shape of a shuriken :

their hands.

A spinner is a kind of toy for those who like to click a pen or drum their fingers on the table. It is surprisingly addictive and in some cases helps to focus.

The basis of the design is a body / frame with a bearing in the middle. To launch it, simply hold the spinner with your thumb and middle finger while spinning it with your index finger.

Step 1:

Step 2: Necessary materials and tools

  • Wooden blank with dimensions 90x40x12 (mm);

  • 22x8x7 (mm) bearing with rubber seal;

  • RGB LEDs;

  • Battery and battery holder type CR2032;

  • Stainless steel bolt M8x20mm;

  • Stainless steel cap nuts M8.

Tools:

  • Electric jigsaw;
  • Frazier;
  • Miter saw;
  • Drilling machine;
  • soldering iron;
  • hot glue gun;
  • Forstner drill and feather drill;
  • Step drill;
  • Countersink drill (drill countersink).

Step 3: Construction and Pattern

Let's start by making a drawing (we will design the design of the future crafts) using Google Sketchup, and then we will use it when making templates for cutting and drilling.

Step 4: Cut out the wood frame

We set the width of the sawing machine (40 mm) and cut out the workpiece of the laid width. We cut the end of the workpiece with a miter saw.

We measure 90 mm and cut the workpiece to a given length using a miter saw.

Step 5: Drilling Holes for the Battery Holders

In order to cut out the holes for the battery holders, we will use a Forstner drill with a diameter of 25 mm. The drilled holes must be 7.5 mm deep.

Battery holders (in my case) have a rectangular ledge, so draw rectangles of the appropriate size and use a chisel to select the marked areas.

Step 6: Drilling the Bearing Hole

We will use a 22 mm drill bit to drill the center hole for the bearing. The hole should not be through, a “wall” a couple of millimeters thick should remain on the opposite edge.

Then in the "wall" we drill a hole with a diameter of 20 mm. The 2 mm rim will act as a stop for the bearing.

Step 7: Drilling holes for the LEDs

Using a step drill, drill a hole with a diameter of 6 mm for the LEDs. Upon completion of the work, we will go through the holes with a countersink drill.

Step 8: Shaping Outlines

To give the spinner rounded shapes, we will use securely fastened, inverted electric jigsaw. You can use band saw or jigsaw machine.

Let's remove the paper template.

Round the edges crafts using a cutting table. Then sand the surface with sandpaper.

Step 9: Varnishing the Wood

We will cover the wooden blank with several layers of varnish.

Step 10: Solder the LEDs

The next step is to solder the leads of the LEDs to the battery holders.

We solder the long lead of the LED to the positive terminal of the battery holder, and the short lead to the negative terminal.

It is better to place the LED directly under the hole in the base of the battery holder than between two soldered terminals.

Let's put on a small piece heat shrink tubing to the short lead of the LED. Let's do the same operation with a long output.

After positioning the LED over the hole, bend the long lead around the positive terminal and the short lead around the negative. Let's solder them. We cut off the protruding parts of the terminals with a knife / side cutters.

Step 11: Mounting the display

Before mounting the LEDs, I advise you to test them for performance by installing batteries in holders.

We use hot glue to attach the holders in the holes.

Step 12: Remove Factory Grease

In order for the spinner to spin quickly, we clean the bearing from the factory grease.

Let's delete rubber seals from the bearing, tucking them with a screwdriver, and then we process the wd40 “inside”. It is important for us to completely clean the bearing.

We also clean the rubber seals, and then install them in the bearing.

Step 13: Attach the axle to the bearing

Now we need to cut off the head of the bolt. We clamp it in a vise and cut off all the excess with a hacksaw. Finish the edges with a file.

Note: Instead of a bolt, you can take a hairpin, fitting it to the desired size.

We pass the “stud” through the bearing and screw cap nuts on it from both sides.

Step 14: Attach the Bearing

We install the cleaned bearing in the mounting hole. For greater reliability, we coat the hole with superglue.

Step 15:

We turn on the LEDs by installing the batteries in the holders. LEDs change color very quickly.

In order to turn off the LEDs, we fix small strips of thin plastic between the battery terminals.

I hope you enjoyed this project. Thank you for your attention.

On the Internet, I found that spinners are made from unnecessary bearings.

What is a Spinner?

At the end of 2016, a new trend swallowed up America. A little more and our countries will also not be silent from the English word Spinner, literally - a spinner. They write on the Internet that this is a very effective tool for self-regulation, that it should be used to relieve feelings of anxiety and to calm down, to reduce stress and excitement. Also, the toy will help increase tactile sensitivity and develop fine motor skills fingers, which in turn contributes to the concentration of attention, the development of intellectual abilities, and the strengthening of memory. In short, a spinner is an anti-stress.
Looking at various options, I came up with and drew my own. And now I want to share with you instructions for creating a spinner.

We make a spinner with our own hands

Print and cut out the drawing of the spinner.

Glue the cut stencil to a piece of 10 mm plywood. The thickness of the plywood should be equal to or slightly greater than the width of the bearing. Using a jigsaw, cut the workpiece along the contour. At this stage, the main thing is to carefully cut out the concave surfaces, because in the future they are the most difficult to process. It is also desirable to cut curved surfaces as close to the contour as possible, but since it is easier for them to get close with any tool, this is not so critical.

To increase the moment of inertia, it is necessary to provide weights. by the most simple option, in my opinion, are coins glued to each other. For 10 mm plywood, 8 10-kopeck coins must be glued together. Since 2 outer coins will be decorated, for now we are making weights from 6 coins.

We level the inner surfaces of the workpiece with a drill. The outer surface is carefully and quickly brought to the contour with a grinder with a grinding wheel. All remaining irregularities are removed manually with sandpaper.

We place and drill centering holes. First, we drill holes for the bearing and weights on the tree. I use a 608 bearing with a 22mm OD, so I drill the center hole with a 20mm pen. And the diameter of a 10-kopeck coin is 17.4, so I drill the outer holes with a pen with a diameter of 16 mm. In order not to damage the outer layer, it is necessary to drill holes to the middle, and then, having unfolded the workpiece, continue on the other side. You can use any bearing you like, it is not necessary to take the same one as mine.

With a drill, we bring all the holes to the required diameters. The main thing is that the bearing has an interference fit, otherwise it will have to be glued. The holes for the weights need to be made so that coins can easily pass through them.
To facilitate the design, we will remove the rounding radii around the entire perimeter of the workpiece. I did not foresee this moment in advance, so I had to apply the borders manually. AT new version drawing, this defect has already been corrected. If someone wants to make their spinner even lighter, then you can cut the blank for this very contour.
Having completely finished with grinding, we proceed to puttying. It is necessary to cover the part with putty in order to completely hide all the irregularities, and also so that after painting it is not clear what the spinner is made of.
While the putty dries, prepare the top coins for painting. Gently so as not to tear off the skin from the fingers we grind upper layer from 6 coins. The easiest way to do this is from the nominal side. You might as well clamp the coins halfway in a vise and go through them with a file, and then turn them over and go through them again.
In two layers, paint the coins with a yellow spray. Let the paint dry a little between coats. When the putty dries, we grind off the unnecessary layer with fine-grained sandpaper. It is also necessary to remove all putty from the surface of the holes, otherwise when the bearing and coins are pressed in, it will fall off and an unpainted layer will be visible.

Having completely processed the part, we cover it in two layers with black spray paint.

After all the parts have dried, proceed to the assembly. On the one hand, we insert 3 decorative coins into the case. On the other hand, we apply super-glue from the press-in weighting agents. In this case, the main thing is that the first coin does not fly out, otherwise you can stain the case with glue, as well as scratch it. We apply more superglue and press in the remaining coins, while holding the coins on the other side.
Before installing the bearing in its place, we insert a wooden chop for holders into its inner hole. The chopstick should fit snugly and protrude from the body by 1 millimeter on each side. Press the bearing into the seat.
In principle, the spinor is ready and works fine, but you need to hide the bearing with something. I made these plastic medallions and glued them to the chopstick. If you want to do something similar, you can cut two disks out of plywood. Well, if you are too lazy to bother, you can use two coins or buttons as holders.
Before testing the spinner, be sure to let the glue dry completely.
That's it, the spinner is ready!

It turned out to be a very original trinket to keep your hands busy with something. In addition, I can say with confidence that neither you nor your friends have ever seen anything like this before, so you can surprise with such a thing and, albeit not for long, attract the attention of others. I, in turn, am pleased that I found some use for an ownerless bearing. Later, I’ll probably make a two-blade spinner out of the second bearing. If you are interested in this topic, write about it in the comments and I will definitely make another instruction.

From a plastic card.

The spinner is a fashionable, branded alternative to the ROSER. A very popular thing in England, and throughout the world, thanks to the Internet. Cool toy - hand spinner - is a simulator for fingers, reduces stress.

All spinners differ in size, weight, color and are made of various materials (metal, plastic, wood, etc.)

After looking at various options, I came up with and made my own.

For this I needed:

    bearing;

    invalid credit cards;

    two 10mm bolts, a 4mm bolt, two 4mm nuts;

    a piece of sandwich - panels;

    Double-sided tape;

    vinyl car wrap.

Making a do-it-yourself spinner

fabricate mine spinner very simple. This is an experimental model and exact dimensions No, everything was done by eye. Yes, and the bearing in the original should be ceramic.

At credit cards find the center and drill a hole with a diameter of 18 mm. We saw off the heads of the bolts (they will create the necessary moment of inertia with their own weight), and we make a hairpin from a 4mm bolt. Remove the boot from the bearing. On the sandwich panel, trace the outline of the card and drill three holes, as in the photo.

We place the bolt heads in the holes along the edges, and the bearing in the central hole. Closing top and bottom plastic cards and with the help of double-sided tape we glue the resulting sandwich. We cut out our product with a knife. Glue the edges carbon film for auto. We insert a stud with a silicone sleeve into the bearing and tighten it with nuts.

It turned out spinner with the name and surname of the owner.

For a successful start of operation, you just need to squeeze between a large and index finger middle bearing and spin with your middle finger or second hand.

It turned out to be an original trinket. If neither you nor your friends have ever seen anything like this before, then I advise you to watch a video with this little thing on the Internet. It will grab your attention and you might want to make your own. SPINNER !
