How to make a do-it-yourself bath bomb for children, effervescent, with sea salt, clay, edible, oil-free, aromatic, New Year's: recipes. How to buy bath bombs, molds and bath bomb making kit on Aliexpress? How useful

So let's get started. We prepare everything you need.

As a filler, you can use sea salt, dry cream, starch, cosmetic clay, oatmeal, etc. Remember that bombs with a light filler (dry cream or powdered milk) rise to the surface of the water, and with heavy (salt) seething from the bottom of the bath.

If you want to make a geyser (bomb) colored, then first you need to color the filler in desired color and dry it well, because if the ingredients are wet, the bomb will begin to "hiss" and "bubble" ahead of time. You can also use ready-made dyed bath salts.

We use the classic ratio of components - one part citric acid, one part filler and two parts soda (1:1:2). Usually salt and citric acid are sufficiently coarsely ground, they must be ground in a ceramic mortar or grinder. Be careful, citric acid can irritate the respiratory tract!

Gently sift the crushed colored salt, soda and citric acid.

Now mix all dry ingredients in a convenient dry container. Don't forget to wear gloves.

In the resulting mixture, add the base oil, emulsifier (optional) and flavoring. If you use solid oils (shea, cocoa, coconut), then they must first be melted in a water bath. The same should be done with the emulsifier. The amount of oil depends on many parameters - the humidity in the room, the initial moisture content of soda and salt, etc.

If you are making a bomb without oils and emulsifier, then lightly sprinkle the resulting mass with alcohol. Don't overdo it!

The mass should hold its shape when squeezed, if it does not hold its shape, then sprinkle it again.

Fill both halves of the mold with mass.

Press the halves together well and remove excess mass.

Our bubbling ball is ready

Now let the geysers dry for 15-30 minutes. It is best to place the bombs in rounded shapes with a large diameter, because on a flat surface the barrel of the ball may flatten. After a day, you can use fragrant geysers for their intended purpose.

This is how our balls bubbling in the water

Ready!

A warm fragrant bath can relieve fatigue after a hard day's work, restore strength and help you relax. To make the adoption of water procedures as useful and enjoyable as possible, a large number of cosmetic products have been created. Among them, bath bombs take pride of place. You can buy them in the store or make your own from simple ingredients. Most of necessary funds for their manufacture is present in the kitchen of every housewife.

Why is it better to make your own bath bombs?

The point of making such bombs with your own hands is not so much in saving money, but in real benefits for the health and skin of the body. The same multi-colored balls that can be found on the shelves of every large supermarket for little money contain harmful substances and dyes. For young children and allergy sufferers, they can be a potential hazard. The fact is that the composition of purchased bombs often includes soda ash, which is used to prepare rather aggressive cleaning products. Synthetic dyes and cheap substitutes for aromatic oils are also often used.

Of course, you can go to a natural cosmetics store and buy "geysers" from high-quality raw materials there. But such shops are far from being in every city and there are bombs of a lot of money there. They are produced mainly from inexpensive ingredients, and the price is often artificially high because of the name “natural”.

As you can see, the meaning of making bath bombs is:

  • firstly, you will always know what you put there;
  • secondly, you save money and buy only ingredients for cooking;
  • thirdly, you have an excellent opportunity to dream up with the components and use only those ingredients that are right for you;
  • fourth, you can do with my own hands great gift for a loved one.

Using dried rose flowers, you can make incredibly beautiful and fragrant bombs.

Crafting Ingredients

There are many recipes for making homemade bombs, but most of them start with the classic base. You will need the following components:

  • baking soda;
  • lemon acid;
  • base oil (olive, coconut, wheat germ oil, etc.).

Only two ingredients are responsible for the "gurgling" effect - soda and citric acid. Dissolving in water, they interact with each other and the well-known chemical reaction. Responsible for aroma essential oils, flavors, ground coffee, dried herbs and petals. Fillers with a caring effect are also used: potato or corn starch, dry cream or milk, sea salt. Color is provided by food dyes, colored sea salt, coffee, cocoa, etc.

Many recipes indicate that it is better to grind citric acid into powder. Since it is volatile and can irritate mucous membranes, it is recommended to wear a protective mask while grinding. The lid of the coffee grinder is also not opened immediately, but they are waiting for the caustic dust to settle.

The base oil is used as a binding agent. Without it, it will not be possible to mold a bomb from soda, citric acid and fillers. In addition, it cares for the skin, nourishes and moisturizes it. The best base oil to use is wheat germ oil. It is light, quickly absorbed by the skin and does not clog pores. Other oils can also be used as the main or additional component: grape seed, almond, jojoba, macadamia, cocoa, sea buckthorn, etc.

For beneficial aromatherapy, it is better to use only high-quality natural essential oils. You can also use food and cosmetic flavors that you can buy in soap shops.

It is not advisable to use mineral oils and synthetic essential oils. They are often the culprit of allergic reactions and can adversely affect your skin and health.

Water is used rarely and in small quantities, usually for making bombs with a small amount of oil. The fact is that under the influence of moisture, soda and acid immediately begin to interact and you risk spoiling your creation at the very beginning. Water is added with a fine atomizer from a short distance. The ingress of large drops of water can cause a reaction and the bomb will not work.

Such small bath balls are used as decoration.

Dried cream and milk are added to soften the skin while bathing. Since they are undesirable for oily and problem skin, it is better to replace them with corn or potato starch. Sea salt saturates the skin with useful minerals and has a beneficial effect on the body as a whole. Also healing properties has clay (kaolin), which can be purchased at a pharmacy. Dried petals and herbs additionally saturate the water with aromas and turn bathing into a real pleasure.

Polysorbate (emulsifier) and foaming agent "Luminous Foam" can be found in a specialty store for the preparation of cosmetics. They are not required components. Thanks to polysorbate, the oil will not form a greasy film on the surface of the water and the walls of the bath, but will completely dissolve. The foaming agent will be needed to obtain foam during the bubbling of the geyser bomb.

With the Fluffy Foam Maker you can make a foaming geyser bomb

Dyes are purely decorative. If you are afraid of the occurrence of allergies or you are just an opponent of various "chemistry", then you can do without them. The same petals, herbs, zest and coffee can give the bombs a beautiful color without harm to health. Never use pigments of dubious quality or not intended for the preparation of cosmetics.

For coloring bombs in the desired color, artistic paints (gouache, acrylic, etc.) are not used. They can clog pores, stain the tub and body, and cause severe allergic reactions.

You will not need dyes if you add this colored salt to the mixture

In addition to the ingredients for cooking, you will also need:

  • bomb molds;
  • a small deep bowl (preferably glass or porcelain);
  • gloves;
  • a tablespoon for measuring ingredients and kneading;
  • beaker;
  • electronic kitchen scales;
  • coffee grinder or mortar for grinding;
  • fine spray (for water);
  • food film.

You can buy a mold in a specialty soap shop. You can also find bath beads, fragrances for cosmetics and a foaming agent there. Instead of special molds, you can use pallets from chocolates, molds for ice, pastry spoons for cutting balls, molds for cupcakes and much more. If you don't care appearance bombs, then blind them with your hands like snowballs.

This is what happens when you put fresh or dried flowers on the bottom of the mold

A coffee grinder and mortar will be needed to grind ingredients such as citric acid and sea salt. The smaller the components, the better their adhesion to each other will be. Gloves are used to protect hands from burning during work. The fact is that citric acid, upon direct contact, can irritate sensitive skin and cause burning in places of abrasions, hangnails and wounds. But while taking a bath using such a homemade bomb, citric acid dissolves in a large amount of water and does not adversely affect the skin.

Since essential oils tend to "exhale" over time, each finished bomb should be wrapped in cling film or placed in a closed airtight bag. Ready "pops" are stored in a dry place.

Bath beads can beautifully decorate effervescent balls You can use square ice molds Dried herbs will give the bombs a beautiful aroma, and cream - softening properties. Use dried rose petals and herbs instead of dyes Instead of purchased forms, you can use halves from a chocolate egg

How to make different types of bombs at home: recipes with photos

All recipes differ in the components used, the desired effects and smells, as well as fillers (salt, petals, coffee, etc.). You can prepare "geysers" for children with a minimum number of ingredients, no artificial colors, and only those essential oils that rarely cause allergic reactions.

Classic oil bomb without water

Starch or sea salt can be used as a filler. Salt crystals are quite large, so they are first ground in a coffee grinder or mortar.

Ingredients are for 3 balls. You will need:

  • baking soda - 4 tbsp. l.;
  • citric acid - 2 tbsp. l.;
  • sea salt - 2 tbsp. l.;
  • base oil (from wheat germ or whatever) - 1 tbsp. l.;
  • flavoring - 10 drops;
  • liquid food coloring - 10 drops;
  • bomb shape.

If you wish, you can use an emulsifier, but then you need to take half a tablespoon of oil and the same amount of emulsifier.

Cooking instructions:

  1. Prepare all ingredients and put on gloves.

    First you need to mix citric acid, soda and salt

  2. Mix soda, crushed salt and citric acid.
  3. Add flavor and color.

    Ingredients can be mixed with a whisk

  4. Pour the base oil into the dry mixture, add the lavender essential oil.

    Measure with a tablespoon right amount oils and added to the dry mix

  5. Mix everything thoroughly until smooth.

    Essential oil is added directly to the mixture

  6. After preparing the mixture, you can begin to form balls.
  7. Fill one half of the form and tamp well.

    Fill the mold with the finished mixture and tamp tightly with a spoon.

  8. Fill the other half and make a small mound.
  9. Connect the halves, pressing them tightly to each other.
  10. Allow the product to dry for an hour, and then carefully remove the mold.
  11. Remove ugly bumps.
  12. Put the bomb on paper and leave to dry for a day.
  13. Store in a dry place, wrapped in cling film.

    The bomb can be placed in a plastic bag and tied with a cord

A properly prepared mixture should be well sculpted and be in consistency, like wet sand. Also, the bombs are not dried in the oven - this can cause them to crack and crumble.

Instead of flavorings, you can use essential oils, then the bombs will be more natural. In this case, it is also worth abandoning emulsifiers and dyes. To color the mixture in a beautiful color, use ground coffee, grated lemon and orange zest, chopped petals and herbs.

You can also make two-color and even multi-colored bombs. Just divide the base mixture into parts and color in different colors. Fill the halves as you wish. You can layer mixtures to make striped balls, or simply fill each half with one color.

By combining colors, you can make bright and beautiful "pops" for bathing.

If the bombs do not mold well and crumble, then you can use ethyl alcohol to moisten the mixture. It is volatile, unlike water, it slowly reacts with soda and acid. Alcohol is poured into a fine spray bottle and the mixture is sprayed.

Even a beginner can cook such fragrant effervescent balls on their own. If you are doing it for the first time, then it is better to add citric acid at the very end to minimize the risk of a chemical reaction.

  8. Carefully remove the bomb from the mold and remove the bumps from the resulting ball.

Vitamin bombs-geysers without citric acid and soda

Such effervescent tablets with vitamins can be used instead of soda and citric acid

So, you will need the following ingredients:

  • effervescent tablets - 100 g;
  • potato starch - 100 g;
  • cocoa butter - 30 g;
  • essential oil or flavor - 5-10 drops;
  • food coloring - 5-10 drops.

Buy the right ingredients and get to work:

Here is a review from the creator of this wonderful recipe, who lives in Germany:

The recipe was born for a very long time, and the solution was found unexpectedly and simply. It turned out that finding baking soda and citric acid in Germany is not so easy. At first I settled on baking powder for dough (almost the same soda) and thought that citric acid could be replaced with vitamin C and ... and then it dawned on me! Vitamin C is sold in effervescent tablets(like a new aspirin) and not only it, but also calcium, magnesium, multivitamin with all vitamin options and many, many more useful and most importantly effervescent things! And what is important is that in our country all this stuff is sold for a penny in any supermarket and pharmacy.

Photo of handmade bath bombs

Bath bombs can transform your vacation into new level. You can de-stress and enjoy a warm, pleasantly smelling and flawlessly beautiful bath. But how safe are these bombs?

Buying bombs from Lush, The Body Shop and bubbling balls from Stenders, you will be seduced by natural oils, pleasant smells and incredible colors. Sellers will talk about how the bombs will moisturize the skin and relieve stress, but what will actually happen to your body?

Examine the ingredients of the bombs. They contain chemicals that affect hormones, and dyes that get on the mucous membrane. Standard bath bombs are definitely not good for your body. Fortunately, we will offer you a recipe for homemade bombs that will help relieve stress without harming your health.

1. Absolutely fake and toxic flavors

The aromatic fragrance that is added to the bombs does not look like a dangerous ingredient. But in fact, synthetic additives are the most toxic part of the composition of the product. The US National Academy of Sciences has determined that 95% of the chemicals used in synthetic flavors are refined petroleum products (). Yes indeed. Throwing a mango-scented bomb into the bathtub can leave you in a spilled puddle of oil without you noticing it. However, your skin will receive all the dangers associated with this fact. For example, the likelihood of skin itching and allergies.

Many of us are aware of the dangers of phthalates and other chemicals that affect hormones. They can cause serious illnesses and deviations, so we do not recommend using bath products when bathing children and pregnant women (,).

When studying the composition before buying, pay attention to "fragrance", "fragrance oil", "fragrance oil blend". This is a legal way to hide the names of chemicals from buyers, and manufacturers use it regularly. In total, manufacturers use 3000 toxic flavors and do not indicate their names in the composition. Such fragrances may cause malfunction nervous system, respiratory diseases and are potentially carcinogens ().

2. Food coloring gets into the blood

Food colorings are dangerous not only in food. A 2013 study found that skin can absorb toxic dyes, especially skin that has undergone hair removal. Once in the skin, the dyes go directly into the bloodstream instead of passing through digestive system and be filtered out by the liver, like other toxins ().

Dyes are regularly used in bath bombs. They can cause an allergic reaction. Some studies show the possibility of increasing the risk of cancer. First of all, it concerns the yellow dye. ()

3. Urinary tract infection

Experts may notice that taking a shower reduces the risk of infection (), and a bath with a bomb seriously increases this risk. Bath foam and genital bombs have been proven to seriously increase the risk of infection. ()

4. Sequins are made of plastic.

Many bath bombs contain glitter. These are the smallest particles of plastic that do not decompose. After flushing, they will pass into sewer system and eventually pollute the water. They are harmful to the ecology of the planet, but if this does not bother you too much, then they are not very useful for your skin and mucous membranes either.

5. Yeast infections

First of all, this applies to women. Bomb chemicals can upset the natural pH balance female organs and increases the risk of yeast infection. ()

Are boric acid bombs dangerous?

Some shops promote bombs homemade containing boric acid. The advantage of this solution is the antifungal effect of the acid. It is used to treat certain women's diseases and treat the fungus on the feet of athletes.

Unfortunately, a special European Commission has found evidence that boric acid affects hormones. Its use is prohibited in Japan and Canada ().

This is so serious that the Government of Canada has recommended that the use of acid in art (it was used to make clay) and veterinary medicine should be phased out. The reason is the harm to the human reproductive system. ()

Good afternoon! I am a nutritionist and editor-in-chief of the site. My practice is located in Riga, and the lecture can be listened to in the city of Jelgava. An excellent team of professionals works on our articles.

I love taking baths, and I love foam bombs. They are so pleasant, and the bubbles so gently tickle the skin, as if you are in a mini jacuzzi.

But there is one thing, they are very expensive in stores, and you don’t want to spend 200 rubles, and sometimes 600 rubles for one bath. I found a way out - I started making these bombs myself! In addition, I found my hobby in this, because there is such scope for creativity. And now there is always something to give to friends, relatives and acquaintances 😀

Bombs are made quite easily: nothing supernatural is needed to create them, everything can be found at home or in nearby stores.

The recipes are quite different, but the main ingredients remain the same - citric acid and soda. It is thanks to their interaction that such a reaction is obtained. We also need a mold, but you can use a regular ping-pong ball cut in half, candy and ice molds, children's sand molds and the like.

Auxiliary components: how to add more volume, mass, utility and beauty to bombs

Also, for volume, mass and additional usefulness, you can put dry fillers, such as sea salt, sugar, different color clay, milk powder, starch, oatmeal and rice powder (you can make it yourself), ubtans, Ayurvedic powders, ground teas, coffee, cocoa (I just love the latter, the whole bathroom is filled with a heady aroma). In general, everything that is possible.

Extracts can also be added for usefulness. They can be dry, in the form of green tea, calendula, lotus, sage. Can be oil, propylene glycol and glycerin.

As I said, bombs are a space for creativity, so I add everything that catches my eye to them: sparkles, glitters, bath pearls, rose petals. I also paint them various colors using conventional food coloring, soap coloring, mineral pigments. I usually buy all these bells and whistles in Leonardo, or in the nearest art store.

The easiest bomb recipe

But don’t be scared, all this is not necessary to use, for a simple bomb you only need citric acid + soda in a ratio of 2: 1, add the rest of the ingredients as much as you want (except for oil, you need to be careful with it and add no more than a tablespoon per 5 tbsp .l of soda and 2.5 tbsp of citric acid). All! The rest is a flight of fancy.

P.S. Be sure to read the recipe below, where I describe the manufacturing process in great detail.

ATTENTION! Before mixing the ingredients, be sure to wear gloves and preferably a mask with glasses, since citric acid is very volatile and can irritate the mucous membranes.

Now I will share with you the recipe of my most favorite and basic bomb.

  • Soda (5 tablespoons)
  • Citric acid (2.5 tablespoons). Moreover, citric acid should be in the form of a powder, and not in the form of a liquid.
  • Sea salt (1 tablespoon)
  • Some base oil (1 tablespoon). I love using coconut because I love the smell of it. You can also use olive, peach, cocoa butter.
  • Essential oil (10 drops). Again, whatever you like. I usually use mandarin, cinnamon, ylang-ylang, peppermint oil.

ATTENTION! All containers and all utensils that you use must be completely dry so as not to cause a premature reaction.

So let's get started. first step you need to mix citric acid with soda. If you use ordinary citric acid, then you need to grind it further in a coffee grinder (the same can be done with soda, but not necessary). There is also a special ready-made citric acid for creating bombs, it is much smaller, but if you grind it too, then the bomb will mold better. After grinding and mixing the ingredients, you need to wait a while until the "dust" settles.

second step add sea salt to the mixture. It should be fine, or ground. By the way, sea salt can be with the addition of herbs, colored or some kind of delicious smelling. All this will be a plus for our bomb.

On the third step add the base oil first, and then drip the essential oil. Mix everything well, the mixture should be easy to mold and look like wet sand.

In principle, everything, our mixture is ready. But I also like to add various dyes to give the bomb color. I usually divide the mixture in half, color one part and leave the other white. Also at this step, you can add sparkles, glitters, dry petals.

Last step- put the mixture in molds (or in halves of the ball). Try to add more mixture to one more half so that your bomb does not collapse when separated. The two halves must be tightly fastened together and left to dry and fasten for several hours or even for a whole day. It is better to dry in a cool place, but not in heat (verified by personal experience).

You need to store such bombs in a dry room (in no case in the bathroom), the shelf life is several years.

Possible manufacturing errors

  1. The bomb is broken or covered in cracks

All due to the fact that you poorly fastened the mass. Next time you need to add more oil, or grind soda and citric acid well (if you have not done this before).

  1. The mixture falls out (flows) from the mold

You do it in a too damp room, or on wet dishes, or water got in by accident. The solution is to put it in the refrigerator or in the freezer.

  1. During drying, the bomb is flattened or deformed

If the first time you do not succeed, or some difficulties arise, do not worry, everything will come with experience. At the beginning, I faced all the problems that I described, and subsequently got my hands on it and now everything turns out perfectly every time. And you will succeed. Good luck to you!
