There was a small problem. When the blade is loaded, it does not hold well on the rod, and shifts back.




In order to solve this issue, the master made a special stop from an M6 bolt and two bearings with washers laid between them.






Having made a cut in the plank, I fixed the bearings in it, and cut off the excess bolt.




On the underside of the machine, he secured the thrust mechanism with superglue and soda.

  • screws;
  • plywood;
  • duralumin pipes up to 12 mm in diameter;

For the normal functioning of the jigsaw, there must be the following parts: a comfortable handle, a switch (most conveniently a push-button), a power cord, a heating thread.

First of all, a frame is made from a duralumin pipe, but textolite of at least 10 mm or thick plywood can also be used for the base. The lighter the frame made, the easier it will be to use the jigsaw. The frame must have a channel for the power cord. Experts believe that best form frames - one in which one of the sides is rejected by 45º.

Then, an earring is made from a millimeter thick copper sheet and fastened to the frame with screws in the place where the frame is connected to the handle. An earring, a screw and a wing nut form a clamp in which the heating thread is fixed. Pressing cheeks are made from a duralumin sheet 0.8 mm thick, and a push-button switch is located between them.

After that, a slot-like hole is cut in the plywood through which the file can pass. It is convenient to make this gap with a drill. Marking is made and holes along it, the transitions between which are smoothed. Instead of plywood, plexiglass, plastic, metal can be used. The drill then makes mounting holes on the plywood and on the base plate itself. The jigsaw on the plywood base is fixed with screws so that the file can pass through the gap. The structure is attached to a table or workbench with a clamp in such a way that the file is directed upwards. If the clamp does not fit, you can use another mount that is more suitable for a particular case. Although the file in this case remains standard, both hands are freed, due to this, the cutting possibilities are increased, so the design is functional in this form.

As a heating thread, you can use a nichrome spiral from any heater, for example, from an iron. It is fixed like a standard saw blade between the ends of the frame with a little tension. 14 V is supplied to heat the filament, and a rheostat is used to control the voltage. The current determines the length and thickness of the nichrome filament; a rheostat helps to set the optimal current strength. The strength of the current affects the temperature to which the filament is heated, if too high material heats up and may catch fire, and if insufficient, cutting will not be possible.

An optimally tuned do-it-yourself electric jigsaw will allow you to cut out figures with complex shapes.


The idea to make a jigsaw came to me many years ago, but I brought it to life much later - when someone threw out a faulty sewing machine manufactured by the Podolsk plant fell into my hands.
From the “insides” of the machine, he took only the main shaft and the “needle bar” assembly, and dismantled the rest of the parts. He cut off the front part of the platform, leaving only the thrust bearing under the L-shaped body. On the sandpaper, I grinded off all the tides on the lower surface. On the protruding end of the main shaft, I installed a pulley with a diameter of 80 mm for a V-belt drive (you can also take it from an old foot sewing machine, only it needs to be bored out under the V-belt) I installed a similar pulley, but with a larger diameter (100 mm) on the motor shaft. The electric motor was fixed on the lower platform of the pedestal, which was made of sufficiently strong bakelitized plywood 20 mm thick, since there was no such platform-floor in the pedestal itself. But it does not require precision (especially precise) execution, so its parts, up to the saw, can also be done by yourself.

The sawing knot is shown in the figure. A mandrel with a slot made of a hexagon is put on the needle bar, which is fixed with locking screws. A file is inserted into the slot of the mandrel, on the shoulders of which a washer with a slot-like hole and a groove is first put on. union nut and carefully tightened so that the file does not break during operation, a thrust roller assembly is provided. For this, a hole with dimensions of 65 × 13 mm is sawn in the lid. Above this hole, a plate is symmetrically attached to the cover with countersunk screws. A roller holder is installed under it. The plate must be flush with the surface of the lid, so you need to create a recess under the plate with a chisel.

The file is made of carbon steel, if there is no purchased one. The teeth are cut with a small file and needle files of the same shape as longitudinal hacksaw The teeth should be set, but since they are very small, use for this purpose special tool practically impossible. Therefore, the blade of the file must be clamped in a small vise, then light bending blows should be applied through the tooth with a beard and hammer. Then the file is turned over and the remaining teeth are bent in the same way. After sharpening, the teeth must be hardened.

It is more convenient and more productive to work on such a stationary jigsaw than with a manual electric one, especially with small workpieces. Yes, and the quality, in my opinion, is much higher.

Step two. Machine frame manufacturing
We make a frame for the machine, first you need to assemble a frame like that regular table, only strong. As a material we use profile pipes.

Next, you need to make a bed, that is, that part of the frame on which we will install the part from the sewing machine. The bed must be strong, as the machine will be held by only two bolts. As a material, the author uses a piece of channel. We cut off, weld the mounting ears and securely weld the channel to the frame. After that, it will be possible to fix the sewing machine on the frame.






























Step three. Fastener
We make a fastener with which we will install hacksaw blades. We need round timber, we drill a hole in it for the stem of the sewing machine, as well as a hole for the mounting screw.

It remains to make a retainer for the knife, cut a slotted hole in the workpiece with a hacksaw, and then insert the knife into the slot and weld the slots from the outside so that the saw has something to rest against. But when welding, you need to ensure that the saw itself does not weld.
We will clamp the canvas with two bolts, drill holes for them and cut the threads.























Step four. Emphasis
For hacksaw blade you need a stop, otherwise it will vomit when cutting. The stop must be welded to the frame. Here we need a piece of round timber, the author made a drink in it and welded it in its place. Step five. Engine installation
