A wreath of balloons and an old hanger

In just half an hour, you can make a colorful wreath by buying a couple of sets of inexpensive balloons. Blogger Jennifer, the author of this article, recommends unbending an old hanger, but if you don't have one, then a piece of strong wire will do just fine.

  • You will need: a pair of balloon sets (20-25 balloons different colors and sizes), wire hanger or wire, fir branches, braid or ready-made decoration for decorating a wreath.

Snowflake tablecloth

A delicate and surprisingly festive tablecloth will turn out from snowflakes, on which we have stuffed our hands since childhood. You can sit down and cut snowflakes with the whole family, and then lay them out on the table and fasten them with small pieces of tape. Great solution for receiving guests or just having dinner with the family during the holidays.

multicolored hats

The cutest colored hats can be made from leftover yarn, which can be used to make a garland for a Christmas tree or for decorating a wall. Or hang them on a window or chandelier on different levels. Children over five years old will also do just fine. simple decoration. See details.

  • You will need: sleeve toilet paper for rings (or plain cardboard or thick paper), scissors, multi-colored yarn and a good mood.

Lamp "Snowy City"

For this charming lamp, you need to measure a piece of paper around the circumference of the can with a small margin (to glue), depict and cut out the simplest urban or forest landscape. Wrap around the jar, and put a candle inside.

  • You will need: a jar, thick paper of any color, white can be, any candle. Alternatively, you can cover the top of the jar with "falling snow" using a special "snow" spray, which is sold in hobby stores.

Balloons with photos

A great idea for decorating the Christmas tree or as a gift to relatives and friends. The photo must be rolled up into a tube so that it passes into the hole of the ball, and then spread with a wooden stick or tweezers. Small black-and-white rectangular shots will do, and you can also cut out the photo in the shape of a ball or silhouette (as in the case of a cat in the snow).

  • You will need: plastic or glass balls, photographs, various things to fill the ball - tinsel, garlands, coarse salt (for snow).

Christmas lights

And this miracle is a matter of five minutes. It is enough to collect balls, fir branches, cones and put them in a transparent vase (or a pretty jar) and add luminous garlands.

embers

Luminous garlands hidden among cones, branches and coniferous paws create the effect of coals smoldering in the fireplace or a cozy campfire. They even seem to be getting hot. For this purpose, a basket lying on the balcony for a hundred years, a nice bucket or, for example, a wicker container for small things from Ikea, is suitable. Everything else (except for the garland, of course) can be found in the park.

floating candles

A very simple decoration for the New Year's table or for a cozy evening with friends during the New Year holidays is a composition with candles floating in a vessel with water, cranberries and coniferous branches. You can use cones, circles of oranges, fresh flowers and leaves from flower shop- whatever your fantasy tells you. And as a candlestick - deep plates, vases, jars, glasses, the main thing is that they are transparent.

Snowman on the fridge or door

From this, the children will definitely be delighted - fast, fun and very simple, because even a three-year-old can handle cutting out large parts. It is enough to cut out circles, a nose and a scarf from self-adhesive paper, wrapping paper or colored cardboard and attach them to regular or double-sided tape.

Snowflakes on the window

An interesting use for a glue gun lying around idle. In order to stick these snowflakes to the glass, just press them lightly to the surface. See details in our video.

  • You will need: a stencil with a snowflake drawn with a black marker, tracing paper (parchment, baking paper), glue gun and a little patience.

Christmas trees-candy

Bright Christmas trees can be built together with the kids for children's holiday or decorate them festive table. Cut out triangles from colored paper or cardboard, attach with tape to a toothpick and stick the resulting Christmas trees into sweets.

Tree in the bank. You have probably seen such christmas toys: a glass ball filled with liquid, and inside there is some kind of snow-covered panorama, a house or a tree, and there is an imitation of snowfall. Something similar can be done with your own hands.
Let's call the project "Christmas tree in the bank", well, it's just that I will have a Christmas tree in the bank, and maybe you have something else.

For the project we need:
1. A jar with a lid.
2. Distilled water.
3. Glycerin (sold in any pharmacy).
4. Ceramic or plastic figurines of animals, trees and figurines of people.
5. artificial snow crumbly or sequins.
6. Epoxy resin and hardener (you can buy a kit in the store).
7. Sandpaper.

First of all, you need to make sure that the jar is clean, you can, if there is, take a rounded jar now a lot different forms, I will have a conical jar. Next, you need to glue the figures, in my case, the Christmas tree to the bottom of the lid. We clean the bottom with sandpaper for better adhesion and glue epoxy resin herringbone. The resin is resistant to water and will last a long time, although the smell from it is specific, but nothing, it will disappear.

We fill the jar itself with distilled water (do not fill the jar to the top). Be sure to add a little glycerin to the water, just a little bit (although I don’t know what kind of glycerin you will have, add a little, if necessary, then add more). Glycerin changes the viscosity and density of water, it will suspend our sparkles, our artificial snow, prevent them from falling to the bottom and guarantee our toy the effect of snowfall. Now we add our sparkles, or artificial snow in a jar (very small do not need a good effect from large sparkles).

Then we screw the lid with our Christmas tree, turn the jar over and shake well. Everything, a Christmas tree in a jar - it's snowing.
You can give the toy an additional design, install it on a pedestal, for example, a plank in the form of a saw cut. Add to that a couple of figurines of animals or fairy-tale characters. The lid can also be decorated, painted or pasted over with something, it is desirable that it be possible to open it, all of a sudden you decide to modify the toy, and that’s basically it.

bewitching and magical holiday. At this time of the year, everyone wants to give and receive gifts. In this article, you will read how to " snowball with your own hands to please loved ones.

Why make a snow globe?

Before embarking on any work, a person asks himself: "Why am I undertaking this particular business?" In the case of this craft, the answer to this question is simple. Firstly, everyone loves to receive handmade gifts, especially in modern world it is also very fashionable. Secondly, even children can make such an original gift, which is even more appreciated.

Thirdly, the New Year's "snow globe" looks beautiful, symbolic, suitable for a person of any age. And if you turn on your imagination, then you can create a unique and memorable surprise! And for its manufacture it will take quite a bit of time and a minimum of financial costs.

What is needed for work?

In 1889, the New Year's "snow globe" was made for the first time. It was presented in Paris and had a small size (could fit in the palm of your hand). It installed a copy of the famous eiffel tower, and the role of snow was played by fine sifted porcelain and sand. Today, anyone can create a "snow globe" with their own hands. How to make such a miracle? Let's start by preparing the necessary things. So, you will need:

  • Glass jar with a resealable lid. It is better that the container is airtight, otherwise you will have to strengthen the place of screwing in order to prevent the craft from leaking;
  • Figures for creating the main composition - these can be houses, animals, Christmas trees, and so on.

  • Glue gun or good super glue.
  • Distilled water. If you take an unpurified liquid, it will darken over time, spoiling appearance crafts.
  • Artificial snow - sparkles, finely chopped tinsel can act in its role. Some even use cut disposable utensils or styrofoam.
  • Glycerin - for thickening water. It is he who will help you see how the snow falls in your ball.
  • Cover decorations.

Getting Started

When all the necessary preparations are completed, you can proceed directly to the creation of the ball. First, thoroughly wash the jar and figurines to create an exposure. You can even pour boiling water over them. This is done to better preserve the snow globe from the can. If any bacteria remain on the figurines, the craft will quickly become cloudy.

Now start creating a decorative composition on the lid. Wipe the underside of the cover with sandpaper, so the glue will lie better. Then treat the surface with glue and install the figure of your choice. Work quickly before the compound dries.

If the base of your figure is very narrow (for example, like a Christmas tree), place a couple of pebbles on the lid, and already install a spruce between them.

Place the shapes in the center of the lid and don't make them too wide or they won't fit into your glycerine snowball. When the plot is ready, set the lid aside. Glue must be completely dry!

You can also place your figurine on a snowdrift. Cut it out of styrofoam, glue it to the lid and paint it with white paint.

Treat the snowdrift with glue and sprinkle with sparkles. A wonderful platform for fairy-tale characters is ready! Now you can place any hero on it. You can also create a unique figurine if you mold it yourself from polymer clay.

Preparing mortar and artificial snow

In the question of how to make a "snow globe" with your own hands, the nuance of preparing a solution of the desired consistency is very important. Take a jar and fill it three-quarters full with water. Then pour in 2-3 teaspoons of glycerin (you can buy it at a pharmacy and it is quite inexpensive). How slowly the snow falls in the composition depends on the amount of glycerin. When the solution is ready, the children's favorite stage begins - loading "snow" into a jar. Gently place the glitter in your balloon. Their number depends only on your desires, but you should not put too many sparkles, otherwise they will block the entire view of the composition. Gold and silver glitter works best, but any shade can be used.

If there are no sparkles at hand, a white eggshell will save the situation, it needs to be thoroughly crushed, and it will perfectly cope with the role of snow in the New Year's craft.

Spangles must be gently mixed with a clean spoon and observe their behavior. If you see particles that do not settle to the bottom, carefully remove them. They will float on top of the composition, spoiling its appearance.

Now proceed to the crucial moment - immersing the figurine in water and twisting the lid. Turn the compositions over and lower them into the water.

Screw the lid on tightly, removing any water that has leaked out with a towel. For insurance, it is better to once again go through the glue along the junction of the can and the lid.

Decorate the lid

The lid is also something to think about. Before you make a "snow globe" with your own hands, prepare everything you need for decoration.

Decorating the lid is not a necessary step, but it will make the ball look complete. The decoration will help hide the joint between the lid and the jar.

Cut out a couple of strips from cardboard and glue them into a circle. Cover the stand with gold self-adhesive paper and place the jar in it. This stand can be decorated as you wish.

You can cover the lid with nail polish, wrap it in a bright decorative tape, decorate with felt or stick small decorative elements: bells, curls. The ball is ready! Shake it and watch the fabulous snowfall.

Create a snow globe from a store-bought kit

If you don't feel like looking necessary items to create a snowy New Year's gift, you can create a ball from a ready-made set. They can be found in many stores. The kits can be different: some already have grooves for photographs, others - clay for creating ceramic figurines. Most importantly, follow the instructions exactly! There are kits in which children have to paint and color some details on their own. Most often, the decoration is installed on the lid and glued to the plastic or glass dome. Then, through a special hole, a solution and artificial snow are poured into the ball. The cork from the kit will allow it to be tightly closed.

"Snow globe" without glycerin

Is it possible to create a New Year's surprise without glycerin? And what can replace the glycerin in the "snow globe"?

It is not bad to replace the substance with baby oil, it is also capable of thickening water. And you can create a ball only with water. There is an option to create crafts without a solution at all. Take round Christmas balls with transparent walls. Remove the rope holder, insert a small figurine and pour snow. Set the toy on a stand or decorate a Christmas tree with it.

A magical surprise will be pleasant for both children and adults. Everyone will follow the snowfall of sparkles swirling behind the glass. A handmade gift keeps a piece of the soul, and it is very expensive!

It is not difficult to make it with your own hands, and at the same time, almost all of its components can be found at home.

DIY snow globe | Components

  • Jar with screw cap. Ideally, the lid should seal tightly. If you take a jar and a lid from ready-made canned food, do not count on tightness. I took a jar of compote, so I had to reinforce and glue the threads to prevent leakage.
  • Decorations. Well suited for this role Christmas decorations. Houses and Christmas trees look especially good with snow from above. I didn’t take this moment into account right away, so I had to take a lot of shots so that Grandfather Frost’s face would not hide in the snow.
  • Glue. Glue is needed to stick the decoration to the lid. Many praise the glue gun, but I didn’t want to buy it specifically for the snow globe. I used a tube of super glue.
  • Snow simulation. It can be artificial snow, glitter, or even shredded white plastic dishes. I bought ordinary silver sequins, but in the process I realized that they do not fit color scheme to our ball. artificial snow in small town not so easy to find, so I had to limit myself to homemade "snow" from plastic packaging from toys.

Homemade artificial snow

  • Glycerol. It is needed so that the "snow" falls slowly. It does this by increasing the viscosity of the water. The amount of glycerin depends on the type of "snow" chosen. Large "snowflakes" will require more glycerin. I have a 400 ml jar. it took 4 bottles of glycerin 25 gr. With the proportions of water and glycerin 1: 1, snowflakes will float in the water almost without sinking to the bottom.
  • Water. If you decide to make a ball for long-term storage or as a gift, then you will need distilled water and some kind of disinfectant for jewelry. There is no guarantee that the jewelry is sterile and their microbes will not cloud the water. For a ball that is not planned to be stored for a long time, any clean clear water. I used tap water. The first time I was not lucky, there was a whitish precipitate in the jar, which spoiled the appearance. For the second time, I used pre-settled water.
  • Rubber medical gloves. They are needed if you are not sure about the tightness of the lid. Gloves are convenient to use as a sealant for threads.
