His head was adorned with a golden wreath of olive branches - a sign of the peacefulness of a formidable god. Head, shoulders, arms, chest were carved from Ivory... A cloak thrown over his left shoulder, Zeus's hair and beard were sculpted out of gold. Phidias endowed Zeus with human nobility. BC. It was stately structure made of brick, lined inside and outside with white marble, 60 m high. The first floor, where the urn with the ashes rested, looked like a huge cube.
