Eighth prayer, to our Lord Jesus Christ

Prayer to the Holy Spirit is the stichera of the feast of Pentecost. It is not read from the period from Easter to Pentecost. According to the apostle Paul, we do not know what to pray for, as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings inexpressible ()

The 50th Psalm is a prayer of repentance of King David, written after the prophet Nathan came to him and denounced him for the crimes he had committed: the death he had arranged in the battle of the warrior Uriah and adultery with his wife Bathsheba.
