Why can't there be discipline without meditation? Analytical meditation on emptiness.

"Meditation on the Void" is what is known as "quieting the mind." The benefits of emptiness meditation are the ability to turn off unwanted thoughts and influences on the will, to be able to control your thoughts, and not be under their control yourself (as is the case with an ordinary person), and a feeling of inner peace. Meditation on voidness is very important for those who practice power meditation and is very important for success in advanced magical practice. Power meditation changes the strength of our thoughts, and it is very important to be able to control thoughts, turn them off in time, or redirect them at will. The power of thought, also known as “ magic force"Is necessary for a successful ritual and for any desired result using your mind. Power meditation strengthens our thoughts, and people who are more knowledgeable or sensitive will be able to notice and recognize our thoughts and feelings telepathically. Meditation on emptiness will train our mind to remain quiet so that others cannot know what you are thinking. Japanese ninjas have used this technique to avoid detection during important missions that require secret infiltration or inconspicuous spiritual advancement. Void Meditation trains our minds to focus during rituals and everyday lifeso that your mind brings you what you desire.

There are several methods for meditation on voidness. The goal is to turn off all your thoughts and focus on the here and now. You completely stop your mind for a certain length of time. In the beginning, this can be extremely difficult, as thoughts are constantly creeping into your head. Before you have time to come to your senses, the stream of thoughts will overwhelm you again and again. Be patient with yourself, as it is completely normal even for advanced practitioners, some meditation sessions may not go as smoothly as others. When you notice a thought, just bring your mind back into focus. Patience and persistence are the keys here. It definitely helps to do some breathing exercises before doing this to induce a trance state. Some people find that meditating after eating a large meal will make the mind more easily distracted.

Always try to meditate when you are fully awake and well rested. If you try to do void meditations when you are tired, chances are you will fall asleep quickly.

  1. Breathing exercises are optional. It is simply a breathing technique that induces a trance state:
  • Breathe in for a count of six
  • Hold your breath for a count of six
  • Exhale for a count of six
  • Repeat this several times until you feel calm.
  1. Now hold your mind in complete peace and quiet without any thoughts for a given period of time, without any feelings, words or music in your head. Your mind should be completely empty. You must focus on the here and now. For beginners, five minutes is enough. Intermediate and advanced practitioners can go further by meditating for 15 minutes and as long as they like.

The Void Meditation can be done with both eyes open and closed. When your eyes are open, you will most likely see fog around objects as you enter the trance state. This is normal. If you choose to close your eyes, you may fall asleep, but this is an individual choice. Use whichever method works best for you.

For meditation with open eyes:

Pick something small to focus on. It could be a dot on the wall, an arrow on a clock, or even a piece of fluff on clothes. Many people like to meditate on a candle flame. The important thing is to concentrate on your object of choice.

For closed eyes meditation:

Focus within yourself and relax. You can bring yourself deeper and deeper into a trance with a feeling of falling. This is normal. For new people, this feeling of falling, which often accompanies deep trance, can cause dizziness. To stop the sensation, focus on the front of your body.

Meditation of emptiness for every day:

Void Meditation can be done anywhere and anytime simply with an emphasis on the here and now and with full concentration on whatever you do. This method is best for those of you who are unable to find any privacy and be alone. Just set a goal for yourself to focus on the here and now for a certain amount of time each day and you can meditate.

Advanced Void Meditation:

  • Visualize the object and hold the image in your mind. At first it will fade and be forgotten, but as it progresses, it will stay longer and longer. This is definitely a necessary skill for magical practice and focusing your power of thought.
  • Focus on a specific vibration or sound. You can do it out loud or in your head. These are what are known as "mantras". You breathe in and out, repeat a specific mantra or tone of your choice. One common mantra that is used in kundalini yoga is "Sa Ta Na Ma" (Russian text). This is pronounced "Sah-Tah-Nah-Mah" (Sa-Ta-Na-Ma). You can also sing "Sa Tan" "Say-Tahn" or "Say-Tahn-Nah-S-S-S-S".
  • Focus on a specific emotion - anger, happiness, sadness, love, hate. You can choose an emotion based on how you feel on a particular day. This is a great workout for an advanced ritual.
  • Focus on a specific texture, such as running your fingers back and forth over a velvet or terrycloth towel.
  • Focus on a specific smell or taste.

Advanced Void Meditation, which involves physical positions, trains your mind, and develops an iron will and tremendous inner strength.

  1. Keep your entire body still. Don't move. This is what advanced yogis do. Find a comfortable position. Don't itch if you feel itchy, just ignore and stay still and focused. Muscle cramps can come and go. Ignore any physical or mental fatigue. Just keep staying focused.
  2. Add awkward and / or strange positions. Make sure they are taken from yoga or Tai Chi books so they are physically useful. It is a discipline taught in many martial arts schools where they learn to ignore pain while maintaining intense focus. It strengthens the mind for physical struggle and dramatically increases the sense of self-confidence. It will also increase your pain tolerance.

Many martial artists meditate under cold waterfalls, snow, or other painful positions. You must have adequate physical health for obvious reasons. A cold shower can replace a waterfall. As with anything new, remember to start moving gradually.

These techniques, once mastered, give the person complete control over their mind and emotions. When faced with death face to face, he will not fall into a stupor or panic in fear, and the chances of survival are greatly increased.

  1. Running meditation together; focusing on running strides increases endurance both mental and physical.

Power meditation on emptiness:

This is a great way to empower yourself while doing void meditation. This is an advanced technique and you should already have a sense of energy and be able to absorb it as in a basic meditation. Here you are not visualizing energy, you are simply breathing in and out, centripetally absorbing energy as you inhale and centrifugally expanding your aura as you exhale. In this case, you are completely focused on * feeling *. You must be proficient in energy breathing before incorporating this method into your void meditation.

Meditation is the art of creating harmony in body, mind and consciousness. A life filled with meditation is full of bliss and beauty. Living without meditation is stress, anxiety and delusion.

In ancient times, meditation was often considered a way of life. Indeed, meditation is not something separate from everyday life. First, the practice of meditation requires regular practice and therefore forms part of daily life. Secondly, if you have already practiced some type of meditation and mastered it, the experience gained remains with you and manifests itself in every aspect of life.

Whatever method of meditation you use, whatever system you follow according to the instructions of your teacher, please continue to do so.

What is and what is not meditation?

Meditation is not concentration. With concentration, the mind narrows, and the narrow mind is the limited mind. A limited, focused and focused mind is needed to look at objects, solve problems, learn a language, operate machines, etc. We need it. But not in meditation.

When we concentrate, we build a wall of resistance and lose energy in trying to control the mind. Some people meditate in this way for an hour, and when they finish, they feel tired, because they spent that hour in a continuous struggle, denying everything in the world, saying no to all thoughts and perceptions and trying to focus their mind.

Concentration excludes everything, but meditation, on the contrary, includes everything. Meditation is open, non-discriminating awareness. In meditation, everything has a right to exist. Meditation says yes to everything in the world, while concentration denies everything.

Concentration is effort. But wherever there is effort, there is one who makes it. The ego makes the effort. Therefore, concentration feeds the ego - the more concentration, the more ego.

In meditation there is no effort and no one who makes it. And therefore meditation is freedom. You just sit quietly and listen to everything, be it the chirping of a bird, the cry of a child, or the rustle of leaves. Every sound is desirable, let it reach you. When you listen to the sound, you become the center, and the sound turns out to be something external, rushing towards you to meet you.

Listening to any sound without judgment and criticism, without sympathy and antipathy, you become the center, and all sounds rush to you in order to dissolve in you. Surrender to the sound. Let it pass through you. Don't resist.

And then something magical happens. You become empty. You become silent pure being.

When a light breeze touches you, let it penetrate you. No effort, no resistance. Remember that peace and quiet are not the opposite of sound. Every sound dissolves into silence. This silence is you, and the sound comes to meet you and dissolve into you.

Look at any object - tree, flower, or wall. Let there be no choice, no judgment - just impartial observation.

Awareness is an act of listening, an act of looking. It does not require any effort, no concentration. With awareness, in meditation, concentration occurs naturally. It is given as a gift. But by concentrating of your choice, you miss meditation.

In an expanded, empty state of consciousness, thinking stops, breathing becomes calm, and the person simply exists as pure awareness. This state is filled with joy, beauty and love. Individual consciousness merges with the Cosmic Consciousness and goes beyond the limits of time and thinking.

In this state, it doesn't matter whether your eyes are open or closed. It comes uninvited like a breeze, because this state is your true nature: love, bliss, beauty and awareness. It has no fear, no depression, no anxiety, no worry, no stress. The person becomes an impartial witness to anxiety, worry and stress. In this state, healing takes place.

Meditation is closely related to discipline. Discipline means learning, and one who learns is called a student. We need to learn the art of discipline. Discipline means ordering. Thought has its proper place, desire has its own, work has its own, and responsibilities have theirs. Discipline brings harmony to life. Therefore, discipline and meditation are inseparable. There is no meditation without discipline, and there can be no discipline without meditation. In fact, they are one whole. A meditating mind is a disciplined mind.

The so-called concentrated mind is the governing mind. The preoccupied mind rules. But a free, alert and aware mind is filled with bliss. It is a disciplined mind. Discipline is the flavor of life. Without this scent, life does not become a holiday.

Sit with your back straight when meditating. If you can, sit in the lotus position (or half lotus position if it is more comfortable for you). If you are uncomfortable, you can sit in a chair, but also keep your spine straight.

With persistent practice, you can extend your time in the lotus position to one, two, or even three hours. One who properly sits in the lotus position for 3 hours every day will soon attain enlightenment.

Sitting in the lotus position helps to open the spiritual heart. Breathing becomes calm, thinking automatically slows down and stops. Going beyond thinking means going beyond suffering, because it is thinking that generates suffering.

Meditation "Empty Bowl"

Sit calmly and comfortably, place your hands on your lap, open your palms and turn them upward, like empty bowls. Open your mouth slightly and touch your tongue to the palate behind your front teeth.

Pay attention to your breathing. Allow your lungs to breathe without any effort on your part. Just watch the movement of your breath.

When inhaling, air touches the nasal passages. Be aware of this. When you exhale, air passes through the nostrils again. The incoming air is cool, the outgoing air is warm. Get in your nose, put the spotlight on it! Stay in the nostril and observe your breathing: inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale. Let the lungs do their job. You just sit and watch.

After 5 minutes, begin to follow the breath: when the lungs breathe in, move with the air into the throat, trachea, lungs, to the region of the heart and diaphragm. Sink deep down, behind the navel, where the natural stop will occur. Breathing stops for a split second. Stay at this stopping point, and then, as the lungs exhale, follow the reverse breath. Move up from the navel to the diaphragm, heart, lungs, trachea and throat, back into the nose, and finally out of the body.

On exhalation, air exits the body about 9 inches (approximately 23 cm) from the tip of the nose and makes a second stop. Stop for a moment at this place.

Both breathing stops are very important. The first of these occurs behind the navel, the second in the space outside the body. When awareness is there, time stops because time is the movement of the breath. When the breath stops, the mind stops, because the mind is the movement of the breath. When the mind is stopped, you simply exist, without a body, without a mind and without breathing.

You become like an empty bowl, and when you become an empty bowl, divine lips can touch you. God comes to you to pour out his love. You do not need to seek God, for God himself is seeking you. God is looking for an empty cup to fill with his love. But all the bowls are filled with desire, ambition, business, competition, success and failure.

Just sit quietly and stop. This stop is the door. Enter this door and jump into the inner abyss. You will feel that you are surrounded by incredible peace and serenity.

Practice this meditation for 15 minutes in the morning and evening. As the days, weeks and months go by, you will find that the time spent in stops increases until eventually the inner and outer stops merge and everything happens within you.

Note: If you find it more comfortable, you can practice this meditation while lying down.

So-Hum meditation

During meditation, So-Hum sit quietly and watch their breathing, as in the “Empty Bowl” meditation, but add the sound “So” on inhalation and the sound “Hum” on exhalation (this is done silently - the sounds are not pronounced aloud).

When sound, breath and awareness combine, they become light. We know that any atom emits quanta of waves - light and thermal energy... The moment we become aware of So-Hum, paying attention to our breathing, the breath becomes a quantum wave and emits light. This light of life can be seen with the third eye.

Breathing in is living, breathing out is dying. When a child is born, the inspiration of life is expressed in his first breath. When someone dies, he is said to have expired. The breath is out.

"Hum" means "I" or individual ego. So means "He is Divine." Therefore, with the natural flow of this meditation, together with So, the energy of life enters us, and with Hum, ego, a limited individuality, comes out. This is the meaning of So-Hum meditation. Breathing in So, you breathe in life. By breathing out Hum, you are breathing out ego and limitation.

Correctly performed So-Hum meditation leads to the union of the individual with the universal Cosmic Consciousness. You will go beyond thinking, beyond space and time, cause and effect. All restrictions will disappear.

Your consciousness will empty itself, and once empty, it will begin to expand. It will be accompanied by joy and peace.

Bidirectional attention (witnessing)

In Vedic science, witnessing is called "Samyag darshan"... It means looking out and in at the same time.

When we look at a tree, star, mountain or flower, something comes out of the eyes, touches the object, and comes back. That which comes out of the eyes to touch the object of perception, we call attention. According to Ayurveda, attention is the transfer of the vibration of awareness outgoing prana to the object. Thus, attention is a combination of awareness and prana (movement).

During samyag darshan, while one arrow of attention goes out and touches the object, the second arrow of attention goes inward, to the center of the heart and observes the observer. While you are looking at an external object, at the same time you are looking at the one who is looking, observe the observer. If you observe an observer, that observer disappears. Simply observing - without the observer - is called witnessing. Witnessing creates a closer connection with the object of perception and you can understand it better.

Meditation creates harmony between body, mind and consciousness. A life filled with meditation is full of bliss and beauty, a life without meditation is delusion, concern and stress, which is why meditation techniques are used not only in yoga practices, but also in Ayurvedic therapy.

Meditation Empty Bowl is the process of perceiving the silence between two breaths, that is, the space between two thoughts. Even walking in a crowd, we can listen to silence. This is awareness, where we, without choosing or evaluating anything, simply surrender environment and are completely in the present moment. This moment is bliss and peace.

Execution technique

What is emptiness

Emptiness is considered the basis of everything in the philosophy of the East. Everything is created from emptiness into it and will return. To perceive the world in all its diversity and with an open mind, one must first of all discard age-old stereotypes, calm down the psyche and look at the situation as something new. This will also be helped by forgiveness meditation, in which the mind is cleared of grievances. All processes of the psyche must be brought to a state of zero and the chosen activity must be organized against a clean background. Only a virgin mirror-clear psyche can display the world in all its manifestations and colors.

Meditation on voidness is one of the most difficult of all meditation practices. Ideal meditation implies absolute thoughtlessness and this is its main difficulty. But this does not mean that beginners cannot practice it - this practice is very safe. You don't need to cling to the images and thoughts that arise in your head. It is worth letting them go, and gradually the flow will dry up. The day will surely come when complete silence will come, and, accordingly, emptiness.

The first step is to take a pose for meditation and completely relax, mentally track the relaxation of all muscles. This process does not tolerate excessive haste. Any tense muscle necessarily sends a signal to the brain about the presence of tension, which will interfere with absolute concentration.

It is best to imagine that the body gradually sinks into water and remains under water. Dissolve your body in your mind. Everything disappears over time - first the legs, stomach, arms, back, and then the head. You need to feel all the infinity of space and merge with it. At some point, there is a feeling that the meditator himself becomes space and feels boundless, free flight. The body and mind are filled with euphoria and that's great. But you need to try not to evoke all these feelings by piece. Everything should happen by itself.

Stage meditation

Second phase - stop the movement of pictures. When we stop internal dialogue, we begin to see the work of the brain in the literal sense of the word. Fragments of memories rush before my eyes, which, layering and changing, generate new thoughts. We see how our imagination really works, starting from the previous experience or impressions. Having experience in stopping internal dialogue, we cope with pictures without any special techniques, just work and perseverance. You can peer into the void between the pictures, you can mentally erase them, you can just order them to leave - no difference. The main thing is to monitor the process and clear the internal screen the first time something appears on it.

Stage three - Calming subtle movements. It is difficult to describe this to someone who has not gone through the first two stages. The bottom line is something like this: in a state without thoughts and pictures, imperceptible urges for action begin to appear. Now you want to change your posture, now to the toilet, now it's hot, now it's cold ... Your body will look for any loopholes to return consciousness to animal processes of nutrition, safety, self-affirmation or reproduction. It's even easier here - we make a willful decision to stay in the state of Emptiness and ignore everything else.

Meditation on voidness is considered one of the most difficult. The difficulty lies in the fact that ideally this meditation involves complete thoughtlessness. But that doesn't mean you can't practice it. Begin, do not "cling" to the thoughts and images that arise in your head. Let them “float” one after another. Thoughts do not like when they are not thought. Gradually, the stream of thoughts will begin to dry out. And the day will come when during the meditation there will be great silence, emptiness.
After meditation, it is not necessary to abruptly stop the practice, it is better to give the body time to recover, return the feeling of the body from about 5 to 10 minutes and calmly contemplate what surrounds you. After a long meditation, you can lie down, take shelter warmly and relax as much as possible. Yoga nidra works great here. In general, balancing in this state on the verge of sleep and wakefulness, you can get very interesting experience... For example, this is the easiest way to go to the astral ...

Meditation on the Void

The purpose of this meditation is to free your Mind from states of both deep sadness, obscuration, and from causeless, temporary joy, fun. The extreme degrees of arousal of the psyche of the human body lead the human brain and his Mind to the mode of generating an endless stream of constant thoughts, short, sharp, and sometimes extremely empty. These agitated little thoughts drive the human psyche into the extremely upper major range of emotional excitement, then into the extreme lower minor range.

The state of calmness of the psyche, and, accordingly, the emotional state of a person, allows his brain and Mind to be in the mode of limiting flickering thoughts and even more, to their complete disappearance. This state of the brain allows the Mind to concentrate on one thought, on one object of meditation. The goal of any meditation practice is to unite the Lower Mind, from the tranquil brain with the Higher Mind of the Soul, Spirit. With such a merger, the Higher Mind takes control of the Lower Mind and Enlightenment occurs. That is, the Lower Mind receives impressions from the Higher Mind and becomes all-knowing, the entire data library of the secondary torsion field of the Earth is available to it.

Having traced the chain of mutual connections, it becomes clear that one of the most important points in preparation for any meditation, is the tranquility of the mind, the brain of the meditator. Unconditional Faith that you will be able to carry out your plans will give you spiritual and physical strength, as well as confidence. Challenge yourself to calm your mind from flickering thoughts.

When you realize that there is nothing truly existing that you cannot achieve, you will already begin to be in a state of mental tranquility, but this is only preparation.

It is very important to realize yourself: what can depress you very much, up to unrestrained sadness, in which “your heart will grab, it will ache,” or vice versa - very much excite, leading to a state of extreme, irrepressible joy, the one from which “your heart is ready jump out of the chest. "

This meditation is one of the most important in preparing the Consciousness for calmness and inner silence. But at the same time, this is one of the most difficult logical meditations. Try to thoughtfully realize it and visualize the end result of meditation - the Emptiness of Consciousness, the immersion of Consciousness into the vastness of the Emptiness of Space, where there is NOTHING. After reading the entire book, return to this meditation and on a new, conscious level, try to penetrate into the depths of the concepts presented.

Meditation Practice:

Emptiness of Consciousness and Thinking.

1. Identifying thoughts that can drive your psyche into extreme emotional states crazy joy or sadness. These are the objects of denial by your Consciousness.

Try to sort out your thoughts and your feelings, emotions. Reveal the extreme of them, these will be those objects of denial, eliminating which, you can cognize the Emptiness, calming your Mind, bringing your emotions to a stable state of Peace.

An approximate train of thought when considering the "values" of life:
- there is neither absolute wealth nor absolute poverty;
- there is no great misfortune, no great joy;

What is great happiness, great joy?
- this is money, big money;
- this is crazy love;
- this is crazy sex;
- this is a great friendship;
- This is a position in society, communication;
- luxury cars, villas, houses;
- excellent health;

What is huge misfortune, incredible suffering, depression?
- this is poverty, there is no money, no cars, no houses;
- lack of love, sex, friendship;
- illness, loneliness;

2. Awareness that extreme degrees of joy or sadness exist outside your Consciousness, your Mind. They exist there, somewhere behind the shell of your body in the bustle of the outside world. Deep reflection on the questions posed can show you that this is all virtual, imaginary happiness or unhappiness. There is no happiness for a person outside of himself. All of the above, with a huge list of possible individual expansion, are objects of denial. They are created by your own Mind. These are subjective characteristics of those factors that, in your opinion, are either extremely necessary for you, or, even very, not desirable. These external objects have no true existence without you. They are a reflection of your consciousness and the designation given to them. These phenomena do not exist outside of you.

Example:
All human life Imagine: you sleep and have a dream in which something bad happens to you, they catch up with you, and maybe even kill you. You are scared and hurt, you are very worried and suffer in your sleep, your heart is bursting with fear and pain. But then you woke up in horror, and realized that it was not in reality, but there, in a nightmare! And you are already immensely happy because a minute ago your mind was immensely saddened in a dream.

3. Look at imaginary joys and sorrows from the standpoint of your Higher Self, from within your Consciousness. Looking at this from the standpoint of the concept of Emptiness, you will understand that, like suffering, and joy have no basis under them, and if you eliminate them, then only immense Emptiness and silence will remain. And from this silence of Silence, concentrating on it, you can hear quiet sounds, the Voice of Silence. And these sounds will be the sounds of your own Soul. It will probably be very, very weak sounds at first, but experience, training will allow you to stabilize and amplify these sounds to the full voice of your Soul. And then you will comprehend real happiness! But it will not plunge you into the hysteria of insanity, since you are already wise and full of tranquility, you are already Enlightened.

Example:
So our whole life, from birth to death, then from the next birth to the next death, is the continuation of the sleep of the wheel of Samsara, the wheel of birth and death, with one goal for us - to make the most of each life to gain experience and improve it. And both for temporary happiness and for depression, defilement, there is and never was any basis. You are freed from these concepts that lead your psyche to extreme points emotional and mental range. Your Mind is empty of these thoughts and calm! Your example is the Great Teachers of Wisdom, Bodhisattvas, who do not strive to achieve anything material, but they have nothing to lose! Achievement is possible only in the expansion of one's Consciousness, in an effort to bring it closer to the ideal - the First Creator. Your Mind does not need to strive somewhere outside it, in search of ephemeral happiness. The joy of merging with your Higher Self is possible only within yourself!

4. Realize that your Higher Self exists regardless of the judgments and opinions of other people and even your judgment about yourself. All external phenomena are reflections of your consciousness, which gives these phenomena their designations: joy, sadness, etc.

Example:
Someone told you: "You are a fool, you are stupid, you are a fine fellow, you are beautiful, you are very scary." Of course you will get excited, you will be very upset, or, on the contrary, you will be very happy. But in vain.

And you begin to meditate, to understand: Who is this “I” who was given such characteristics?
- "I" is not my body itself;
- “I” is not my separate thought, not the Spirit, in itself;

5. Understand at this moment that "I" is the totality of body and Consciousness, thought. Realize that "I" cannot exist on its own, it is physical body, with a brain that generates thought waves and is controlled by your Higher Consciousness.

And the fact that someone gives you their characteristics has nothing to do with you personally. You exist regardless of whether someone gives you stamps, characteristics, or not. Having realized this, you become already calm, you have protected your psyche, emotional body, your mind from these empty words, concepts, other people's thoughts.

Conclusion: each phenomenon, including your own "I", is seen by you as existing, regardless of its name, characteristics given by your own or someone else's thought. These characteristics are the object of denial, removing which you will receive the Emptiness and the truth of your "I". The outward appearance of objects is false, and therefore clinging to it, the more rejoicing or sadness, is not worth it.

And now the most important thing!

Imagine the boundless ocean of the Universe, a huge volume of Space, in which YOU \u003d FORM + CONSCIOUSNESS stand. Visualize the process that you began to decrease, becoming smaller and smaller, then reached the size of a point and ... ... disappeared, dissolved in the boundless Expanse of Space. IT remains - the Space of the Void …… and nothing more …… only the Void… .Eternal… ..the endless Void …….

Try to keep in your Consciousness the state of Emptiness, calmness, relaxation from any thought or perception of something for longer, at least 15 minutes. Your mind is quiet, empty, your psyche is emotionally relaxed and calm. This is a state of denial of the very existence and awareness of the Emptiness of perception and Consciousness. The surface of your mind is motionless and calm, like the Emptiness of the Eternity of Space. This is a mode, a state of Emptiness of Consciousness and Thinking. The more you practice this meditation, the deeper and more voluminous the image of Emptiness in Eternity will appear.

Meditation on the Emptiness of the Self has the following stages:

1. Stage: Revealing the object of denial.

One of the most important moments of starting meditation is to clearly imagine, to answer to yourself: how do I see my own I? To solve any problem, it is important to outline the circle of admissibility of the tasks to be solved and begin to gradually reduce this circle, discarding unnecessary ones, until the circle narrows down to a very specific and clear problem. Here it is necessary to solve it, only her one.

2. Stage: Determination of the logical consequence.
Establishing the object of denial in the five aggregates.
Establishing the object of denial outside the five aggregates.

If the object of denial exists, then it can exist either among the basic concepts that exist to designate "I", or outside these concepts. Let's try to understand those five psychophysical aggregates in which the concept of "I" can exist. The first logical conclusion: since my "I" is unique, it can exist in the definitions of only one of the group of aggregates. The question is - what?

1. The totality of the form, that is, the body: the head is not I, the Hand is not I, and so on. A part of the body does not completely determine my I. That is, neither a part of the body, nor its entire volumetric form, by itself determines my personal, only I. Therefore, I does not exist only in form, it is more global than only the body.

2. A set of sensations: pleasant or unpleasant sensation - this is not I, because if this is I, then there must be a constant, long-term feeling. Only one pleasantness ... ..., but, unfortunately, it is very good for a long time, or it does not happen very badly. Everything alternates with stripes. Therefore I do not exist in sensations.

3. Aggregate discrimination: this is the ability of the consciousness of your self to divide objects into good and bad. But since I am the only one, it cannot be only bad, or only good. Therefore I do not exist in discrimination.

4. The aggregate of volitional impulses: this is the ability of physiology, at the command of the consciousness of your I, to enter the emotional states of Love, Hatred, Pity, Cruelty. But since I am the only one, it cannot exist in different qualities. Therefore I do not exist in different conditions emotional body, and volitional impulses from consciousness.

5. The totality of consciousness: there are six types of consciousness - visual, mental, etc. But since I am the only one, it cannot be in different types consciousness. After analyzing the five aggregates, you come to the conclusion that the I itself does not exist in these concepts. So what is I?

“I” does not exist by itself, it is a complex of form and consciousness. And these five aggregates are the underlying basis, the canvas on which various characteristics your "I". Without them, it would be very difficult to give certain concepts for the I. We need a form. So! The logical conclusion: in the five aggregates of self-existence, I do not exist.

But another conclusion can be drawn. If you transfer the Self beyond the circle of these five aggregates and look at the Self from the outside, then there is no self-existent Self outside the five aggregates either! It cannot exist apart from the Mind and the Body.

The main conclusion: "I" as an object of negation did not exist and does not exist. “I” cannot exist separately from Form, Body and Consciousness, it has no self-being. This means that if we eliminate the concept of “I” as a category of thinking, then in its place will be Emptiness, as Zheglov said: “a donut hole”.

Meditation after reflection:
Deeply realizing the absence of "I", you plunge into a state of balance, complete tranquility, you are like a boundless Space, which has neither form nor size, only boundless Emptiness ... .... Eternity ... ... ... ...

Try to remember the meditative state of Consciousness, which has accepted the concept - the absence of self-being of your "I", transferring it to the category of Eternal Emptiness. This will be the state of one-pointed concentration. No other thoughts in your head, in your mind. Only Emptiness and Eternity of Space.

Important points!
Meditative balance when contemplating the Emptiness must be accompanied by two factors:
- emptiness of perception, when not a single object of the world appears to you;
- deep conviction in the Void from being itself.
