An easy way to make a hole in any shape in a glass bottle. How to drill a glass bottle at home video How to make a hole in a glass bottle

You will need

  • - air gun;
  • - drill with diamond or hardened steel drill;
  • - turpentine;
  • - sulphuric acid;
  • - water;
  • - sand or clay;
  • - a template made of wood, foam, glass, metal or other material;
  • - emery powder.

Instructions

Most quick way: take with a well-charged bottle. Stand a few meters away, aim carefully and shoot the bottle. The ejected ball will pierce the bottle through and through without breaking it. Please note that there will be two holes, and a rather small diameter.

To drill into bottle hole of the required diameter, first prepare a device for securely fixing the dishes, for example, a box, in which it will sit tightly. Take a diamond drill bit on ceramics and drill very carefully, without pressing. Be sure to consider the cooling system. It can be constantly supplied water (an assistant is needed here) or a specially prepared cooler. To make it, make a template from wood, foam or other material by drilling in it hole the desired diameter, and wax it to bottle... Fill the hole with emery powder (you can get it from emery paper or an abrasive wheel) mixed with turpentine.

To drill hole in glass bottle with a steel drill, before use, warm it up to white and soak in sulfuric acid.

To drill hole large diameter, take a tube made of non-ferrous metal (aluminum, brass, copper, bronze) 2.5-5 cm long and use it as a drill. Attach a circle made of foam, glass, wood, metal or other material of the required diameter to the glass, the tube will rest against it when drilling. Pour emery soaked in water into the open end of the tube and drill slowly, at low speeds. Make sure that the emery paste is always between the edges of the tube and the glass.

If you want to do without drilling, use clay or fine sand. Thoroughly remove grease and dirt from the surface with acetone, alcohol or gasoline. Pour wet sand or clay, stirred to a doughy state, in the form of a slide about 10 mm high. Make a funnel with a stick or other tool, while the diameter of the translucent glass inside the hole should match the diameter of the desired hole. Melt lead, tin or other solder in a metal jar, pour it into the resulting hole. The hole will have smooth edges, but note that this method is suitable for glass no thicker than 3 mm.

Highly original lamps are obtained from curly and colored glass bottles from drinks. Several attempts made in due time to drill the bottles ended in failures. There were some exotic ways of drilling glass and usually ended with a long crack in the glass from the place of drilling. But if you use a special glass drill, everything worked out. To drill a beautiful rectangular bottle from a good drink, we purchased a drill with a carbide insert (

Glass Bottle Drilling Features

1. The drill fixed in the electric drill is directed strictly perpendicularly to the point of drilling the bottle and, with slight pressure, wait for the appearance of the first crumbs of glass.

Glass drill

2. Drilling at maximum speed is not necessary, the drill is afraid of overheating.

3. Every 20-25 seconds, stop drilling and remove glass chips. At the same time, the drill tip will cool down.

4. When the tip of the drill passes through the thickness of the glass, the drilling sound will slightly change and the drill feed (pressure) should be reduced to a minimum.

5. After the through passage with a drill of glass thickness, rinse the bottle in running water.

6. When drilling, it is better to observe safety measures - work in gloves, glasses and respiratory protection.

In this way, with our own hands, several glass bottles were successfully drilled from which original nightlights were made powered from a 220 volt network.

How to drill a hole in a glass bottle when making a lamp. MK

I am often asked HOW to make a hole in a bottle to create a lamp base.

Here is a short master class, how I do it.

* E14 bulb holder

* electric cord with switch

* Matt ENERGY-SAVING bulb with E14 base, 7-8W

* Perk for metal

* Drill for glass and ceramics

* A jar of water

I am often asked how to make a hole for a cord in a bottle.

To do this, you need to purchase a special drill for glass and ceramics from a hardware store. For the Hole, I use a # 6 or # 8 drill nib.

You will also need a drill or screwdriver.

Here are some pictures of the materials you need.

We take the bottle and wrap the place where the hole will be located with masking tape 2-3 times.

Here's what you should get:

First you make a hole, then you decorate the bottle, then put everything together.

Now a few words about sockets for light bulbs.

There are two types of cartridges "without a skirt" and with a "skirt". We need chucks with a skirt and a mounting ring.

Now we take the bottle cap (I was not free, so a regular cap is taken as an example).

We withdraw the cord through the neck of the bottle.

We connect the cord and the cartridge.

We pass the cartridge through the hole in the lid. The lower "skirt" of the cartridge will not let the lid fall off. For reliability, drip from the gun glue around the skirt and attach the lid to the skirt.

We close the bottle with a lid. All our chuck is securely fastened.

With the upper clamping ring, you will subsequently attach the lampshade to the socket.

Your imagination for decoration, bottles and lampshades remains in your hands! Be creative and you will definitely succeed!

You will need

  • - drill;
  • - diamond drill for glass;
  • - copper tube of the required diameter;
  • - sand;
  • - diesel fuel or gasoline.

Instructions

The first way to make a hole in a glass bottle is to use a drill. Take a diamond drill of the diameter you want it to be. Wear safety goggles and gloves - the smallest debris can injure your eyes and hands. Secure the bottle in a vise. If they are not at home, ask the assistant to hold the vessel tightly. Don't forget to supply it too protective equipment... Lubricate the drill with clean machine oil. Place the drill on the glass. Press lightly and push the power button. One or two seconds is enough for the hole to appear.

The second way to make a hole in came to us from those times, only rare lucky ones owned drills and perforators. Everyone else made holes in with copper tube stuffed with sand. Take a metal gut of the correct diameter. Fill it about halfway with sand. Dampen the bottle and tube end with water. Ask someone to help you and hold the vessel firmly while you work with it. Press the copper gut to the surface very tightly. Try not to leave it from the vessel during everything. Rotate the tube between your palms until a hole appears. This usually takes three to ten minutes.

The third way to make a hole is to gently pry off the bottom. It is very important here to be safe and wear thick gloves from non-combustible material as you have to deal with fire. The procedure cannot be carried out indoors, only outdoors! Prepare a bucket of water. It should be cold. Wrap the container with a cloth soaked in gasoline or diesel fuel. Place it on and light it on fire. Wait for the material to burn out. With gloved hands, take the bottle by the neck and dip it into the liquid. The bottom will fall off by itself.

People often wonder how to drill a hole in a bottle. With the skills and the right tools, it's not that hard to do. You will not need as much time as it might seem at first glance. Assess your options when choosing one of the methods and get to work.

Instructions

Wrap the bottle you want to make a hole in with molar tape 2-3 times. Pay attention that there is no seam in the place of drilling. Mark the drilling location with a cross. Take a special glass drill and (looks like a triangular arrowhead). Start drilling by dipping the drill bit in water. Drill at medium speed gently, without pressure, keeping the drill straight. Moisten the tool with water and drip regularly onto the drilling site. You can use a clip-on tube or a medical drip to get the water in. Instead of water, you can use a mixture of 1 part turpentine with 1 part camphor. Re-drill the hole after passing the drill through with gentle twisting movements to make the edges smoother. Sand the edge of the cut with coarse sandpaper or a file.

Mark the future hole with a felt-tip pen. Make a plasticine rim around the drilling site. Take a diamond core drill (looks like a tube). Start drilling by firmly pressing the drill trigger to make the drill easier to catch on the glass surface. Pour water into the plasticine rim. Drill at low RPM. Cool the cut by keeping it constantly in water to prevent the glass from breaking. Flush out the groove from glass dust and debris resulting from the operation. The closer to the end of the work, the less pressure on the drill and less speed drill rotation.

Take a steel drill. Heat it up to white heat and quench it in mercury or sealing wax. Sharpen it. Soak a drill in a mixture of camphor and turpentine. Insert the drill into the brace and quickly drill the bottle.

Take a triangular file and insert it into the drill. Dip it in turpentine and carefully start drilling.

Today we are making a New Year's lamp. This requires a few simple things. Most importantly, you need to decide how to drill glass bottle. Method will fit one that is available at home.

In principle, a simple drill can also be used to make a hole in a glass bottle. Conventional metal carbide victor tip. Specialized in ceramics. But we choose the most the best way- This is a diamond-coated drill. Since its diameter is 12 mm, we make a hole in the wooden plank with another drill of the same size. This will be the guide. A diamond drill has no center and works without preliminary preparation the treated surface is hard. As you can see, the hole came out perfect.

Take the glass wine bottle. We make a mold for water from ordinary plasticine. It will cool the drill. Put a template on top and fix it with masking tape. Now the guides will not go anywhere with its help it is convenient to hold the bottle on the table. We will fill it almost to the top. We start drilling at low speeds. The hole is just perfect for home use. Small chips were left from not relieving the pressure to a minimum.

The edges are not dangerous here, but we will still go through with sandpaper. Rubber stopper to prevent the wire from rubbing against the edge of the glass. We drill carefully on both sides to ensure accurate drilling. We cut two holes on one side. We fill the garland inside. We put the plug on the wire and insert it into the hole. Here begins Christmas story... And the problems ...

V this example incandescent bulbs were used, so the temperature in the bottle reached almost 100 degrees, it took half an hour. Dangerous thing! By removing the plug, the master hoped to increase the ventilation, but this did not help. The temperature did not subside. Will there be no fairy tale? Do not worry! She will be saved modern technologies... Old garlands will go to someone as a gift. And we will use modern LED. Although they are the same Chinese as the old ones. We fill them in the same bottle. Everything works. The thermometer shows 23 degrees. We set the mode to constant glow and leave it for half an hour. After a while, the temperature rose by only a few degrees. We attach the regulator to double-sided tape for convenience. Everything. A fairy tale to be! Recommend this video to your friends, maybe they also want to see similar beauty. How to drill a bottle with a simple drill

How to make a hole in a glass bottle
Hello my dear friends! Romance with you, as usual. There were two questions: one was how to make a hole in a glass bottle, and the other was how to cut a glass bottle. I will answer the second question a little later, as I am experimenting and looking for the most convenient way do it.

Let's start answering the first question. Here is a bottle of wine. I made such a stand with a simple wooden railing beforehand. This will help prevent the bottle from moving when drilling the hole. If you cannot make a rack like this, you can dig a hole in the ground, put two bricks or two livestock, it depends on your imagination. The first thing we need to do is wrap some paper tape around the bottle near the hole. For example, we'll wrap it up here. Then mark the drilling site.

We are going to use simple drill it is of course better to use a screwdriver as it has a low rotational speed and we do not need a high rotational speed to drill glass. The drill is simple, tungsten carbide dust free.

This drill is 8.2 mm, steel R6M5. Let's start. It is important not to press hard on the drill, because the glass can crack and we cannot process it. So let me show you what we got. As you can see, the glass started to drill.

It is also important to add some water to the hole to avoid overheating the drill and glass bottle.

Well, we made a hole.

Let's remove the tape and see what's in there. We have such a hole. If you take a closer look, you will notice small cracks inside, it is caused by the overpressure of the drill at the end. If you control the pressure of the drill, especially at the end of the drill, when the hole is almost done, you will get the perfect hole. So you can see that we did it well without using tungsten carbide or special tools.
