Crafts from waste material for school children. Crafts from waste material: interesting ideas and options for making various things (75 photos)

Have you ever made crafts with your own hands from waste materials? A positive answer to this question can be heard from many parents whose children attend kindergarten or school. Today we will discuss original ideas for crafts using improvised materials.

Original ideas from the collection of needlewomen

First, let's figure out what waste material is. These are any available means that we use on the farm. Often, many items must be recycled, but you can make original crafts from them. By the way, such crafts will not only help your child get a high grade in an applied arts lesson, but will also decorate your garden plot.

What material is suitable for constructing crafts? Let's look at the main types of waste material from which you can make a real designer masterpiece. So, available tools suitable for modeling crafts include:

  • carton boxes;
  • toothpicks;
  • cotton pads;
  • matches;
  • dried leaves;
  • chestnut fruits;
  • any bumps;
  • buttons;
  • threads;
  • plastic or glass containers;
  • cocktail straws;
  • stones;
  • various papers;
  • wax candles;
  • clothespins;
  • CDs and much more.

If you want to show your imagination and realize creative ideas, use everything that is no longer useful to you on the farm.

We organize an exhibition in a kindergarten

Many parents are repeatedly faced with the problem of modeling crafts for their child. In kindergarten or school, they give similar tasks every now and then. You can safely help your child design an original craft that will take pride of place at any exhibition of hand-made items. We would like to present to your attention a master class on creating a simple, but at the same time original craft from waste material with your own hands for children in kindergarten.

Decorating a garden plot: designers' ideas

Many housewives try to decorate their garden plot to make it cozy and unique. From waste material you can make crafts for your dacha with your own hands, for example, original flower beds, hanging flowerpots, stools, frames for climbing plants, animal figurines, decorations for an artificial pond, etc.

We present to your attention a step-by-step photo tutorial on how to create a craft from an unnecessary plastic canister with a nominal volume of 5 liters. Most often, housewives plant flowers, shrubs or ornamental trees to decorate their plots. Today we propose to design a flowerbed that will not only be an excellent design solution for your summer cottage, but will also testify to your impeccable taste.

Necessary materials:

  • plastic bottle with a nominal volume of 5 liters;
  • scissors or stationery knife;
  • gouache paints;
  • thick white cardboard sheets;
  • pencil;
  • glue or double-sided adhesive tape;
  • decorative elements;
  • ruler.

Step-by-step description of the process:

My dear friends, hello! Always your Tatyana Sukhikh welcomes you to the pages of her pedagogical blog. Autumn has arrived, and with it comes the desire to crawl under a blanket and drink a cup of tea. But let’s drive away such lazy intentions, and it’s better to make crafts with your own hands from waste material - and the melancholy will immediately go away. When your hands and head are busy with creativity, other thoughts scatter, believe me.

Have you ever noticed this peculiarity of storing strange but cute little things like caps, corks, bottles, strings and similar rubbish? If so, then you will definitely find in this article an idea on how to turn something unnecessary into a cute craft or even a more serious household item. I decided to break the text into subheadings based on the type of trash that most often collects in our homes.

I’ll give you some advice right away: the best tool for connecting parts together is a hot glue gun. If you buy a household one for creativity, it will be inexpensive, and it will be useful for different situations on the farm.

Another point: be sure to invite the children to create together. The value of your general activities for development, emotional well-being, psychological health is priceless. Time spent with children is more valuable than any good toy. And, by the way, fun games made by yourself often become children’s favorites for a long time.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the authors of the photographs of amazing crafts, which delighted me so much that I had to “steal” the ideas. But that’s why we expose the products of our creativity or other professional developments to a wide network so that everyone can benefit, isn’t it?

Ideas for transforming plastic containers

Not to say that there are mountains of plastic bottles piling up, but we often leave them so that we have something to pour something into, right? What can be useful from them? To be honest, I don’t particularly like plastic compositions in the flowerbeds of our cities, it’s somehow primitive. But there are things that will satisfy the artistic needs of almost everyone. I will pay special attention to crafts that will be useful and interesting to the children.

So, masterpieces made of plastic:

  • Magic dragon: here you need to show your imagination and stock up on a large number of different containers and their lids. The dragon consists of several cut transparent bottles inserted into each other and secured with twine. The head and tail are held at the ends of the string, this is necessary so that the body wriggles without the parts falling off. As you can see in the photo, the head and tail are made of opaque containers, but this is a matter of imagination.

We place any “waste” of different colors inside the bottles.

If you want, to develop motor skills, you can provide the opportunity to “feed” the dragon with small objects; to do this, you need to fasten the cut bottles so that the neck closest to the head is in the “mouth” of the dragon.

Or you can make a simpler fish like this:

  • Charming inhabitants of a home zoo from opaque containers: it’s simply a miracle how much imagination people can have to see animals in containers of household chemicals. Just a few additional details, a couple of touches - and we have before us a strange bird or an unearthly creature.

  • I was so inspired by the next idea that I immediately went looking for a tool! A vase for fruit or anything is an artistic thing, you will agree.

How to make this miracle happen? Take a large 5-liter eggplant and cut off the top and neck. Holding it by the bottom and slowly rotating it around an axis above the candle, we achieve melting of the edge of the bottle. We are giving an artistic form to the future vase; it would be nice to bend the edges of the bottle inward, which even when melted can be very sharp. Then, using a hot knitting needle or a burning tool, we make many holes in the workpiece.

  • Boxes made from bottoms: in my opinion, this is also an extremely unusual craft. We cut off the bottoms of the bottles. Each box requires 2 blanks. We select a snake lock along the circumference of the bottom, glue it first to one half of the box, then to the other.

What else is lying under your feet: making beauty from natural materials

For some reason I became interested in plastic, but for kindergarten children there is nothing better in handicrafts than natural materials. Now there is freedom for this activity, there are so many wonderful “exhibits” right under your feet. By the way, I suggest you familiarize yourself with the methodological literature on this topic:

  • “Crafts made from natural materials: applique from burlap and birch bark, crafts from wasteland grasses”– an excellent book on how to create paintings without a sketch from living, warm material;
  • “Master Samodelkin. Crafts from cones and acorns: 8 colorful model cards with methodological recommendations"– instructions are provided in an accessible and clear manner on how to make a fish, New Year’s toys – a Christmas tree, Santa Claus, a garland, etc., step by step;
  • “Crafts made from natural materials. Notebook for children 5-9 years old"– also a kind of instruction in pictures for joint creative activities with adults.

So, what unusual, non-trivial things can be made from twigs, fruits, herbs growing around us:

  • Unlike plastic in the interior, which I don’t really like, I love things made from natural materials. And what’s interesting is that not everyone is able to discern a future masterpiece in a twig or leaf found on a plot. Praise be to those who know how to see this! How could I “pass by” such a highly artistic napkin holder? Here, of course, you can’t do it with just a glue gun.

I think you need to drill holes in the base according to the diameter of the branches, which were previously sanded and covered with stain. Then you can put them on glue. Beauty is impossible, but requires caution: the branches are thin and brittle.

  • With kids, be sure to make a set of dishes from acorn hats, because there is nothing complicated: plasticine and hats. An excellent attribute for role-playing games!
  • Does it happen that at school a child was asked to do a craft for the autumn holiday, and he remembered about it at 11 pm the day before? Listen, I found a witty solution, however, we need the appropriate products: let’s make a lamb from cauliflower! As you can see in the photo, you need to cut off the lush inflorescence so that it stands steadily. The champignon muzzle is simply charming!

A couple more ideas for nature lovers...

  • I was so carried away by the search for unusual ideas for crafts that I found a real work of art: compositions made from old wood. You can’t do without a saw, of course, but the effort is worth it. I don’t know about you, but I’m simply fascinated by this wooden miniature. And, most importantly, the material is really junk! Please note: the “trees” are probably made of walnut and peach pits.

  • You can imagine, of course, what value imagination and manual labor have for the development of children. Use everything you find in the forest, garden, or just in the yard. Look what the pieces of twigs turn into! By the way, making such miracles is not so difficult: for candlesticks or vases we take a base - unnecessary glass glasses, jars, and artistically cover them with fragments of twigs.

And we make the ball like this: we cover the inflatable ball with twigs, but we try not to stick them to the ball. When the glue has hardened, we deflate the ball and take it out, leaving a hollow sphere made of pieces of wood.

Bark, leaves, pebbles, nuts, twine and other things make amazing dolls if you use your imagination. By the way, children, as they say, can turn out masterpieces one, two, three times, if you free up their imagination and do not interfere with their creative impulse.

Unnecessary paper is also used!

I don’t know how it happened, but in articles about the development of fine motor skills, I seem to have forgotten to talk about a wonderful activity that strengthens children’s fingers - making crafts from crumpled paper. Such crafts are good because you can crumple up everything: newspapers, colored paper, corrugated paper, toilet paper, napkins... The technology is simple: if the material is soft and thin, like corrugated paper, napkins, then we make pictures, bas-reliefs from many small lumps. Thicker paper will be used to make three-dimensional figures from 1-2 large and small parts. You can simply crumple the paper, then smooth it with your hands and cut out the details of the picture.

To more deeply understand the essence of this method of making crafts, I advise you to read the book "Crafts made from crumpled paper"– an interesting technology for making three-dimensional products from crumpled paper will allow you to develop your fingers and creativity.

From my experience, I will say that creativity from crumpled paper is more popular with the younger and middle groups of kindergarten. Older children are already striving more for the ideal, and it seems to them that crumpled paper looks sloppy... Although if you make such flowers, then who will find them sloppy?

Crafts from everything!

I don’t know if I can stop, I found so many great ideas! It’s time to organize a master class for colleagues or parents. For example, you can easily sew a kitten from work gloves with just a few stitches. On long winter evenings you will have something to do with the kids, right?

A separate article should be written about crafts made from plastic bottle caps and wine bottle caps.

Corks are a fertile material; they are a ready-made basis for crafts. It is easy to work with, it is glued with PVA glue, you can simply stick the parts into the cork, you can paint it with gouache, and cut it. How many things craftsmen make for everyday life! From Christmas tree decorations to furniture!

Bottle caps should not be thrown away either - they are an excellent tool for creating attributes for the development of fine motor skills and sensory sensations. I have written more than one article about this, and I will not repeat it.

The simplest thing is to decorate the lids in the form of faces of different animals. The eyes are sold in craft stores; a glue gun will firmly secure the remaining parts.

And for the benefit of the whole family, I advise you to make a sensory mat that will heal the entire body during hygiene procedures in the bathroom. You need to glue the caps onto the rubber mat. Voila!

Plastic Kinder eggs also make interesting toys. For example, if you cover them with decor for Easter eggs, you will get New Year's toys, garlands, and beads.

What can we say about chickens, minions, piglets and other “living creatures” - “Kinders” serve as an excellent basis for creative exploration! They can be covered with paper, or with cotton wool, to get such wonderful bunnies. Craftswomen tie them with crocheted threads and create a different sight!

And from the onset of the flu period, be sure to give your child a preventive pendant at kindergarten: we place peeled and slightly crushed garlic inside the testicle, hang the testicle on a ribbon and around the child’s neck. Garlic esters will disperse viruses around the baby.

What do you think of the children's massager? A simple but useful device that will allow babies to stretch their back, shoulders, and neck. I am sure that it is not difficult to make, the main thing is to understand how to intertwine the twine and “kinders” together.

And in the end I will tell…

Have I sparked your inspiration? I hope so. I would also like to hear from you ideas for creativity that have stunned you. I’ll stop for now, but not for long, I need to work and develop. I am waiting for new subscribers in our company, and also please like my article.

Sincerely, Tatyana Sukhikh! Till tomorrow!

Do you want to make some kind of craft, but don’t want to purchase expensive materials? Do you want to give old things a second life? Learn to make crafts from waste materials. Our article will help you with this.

What is waste material?

Waste material gives wide scope for imagination. The most important thing is that it is always at hand! In order to make crafts from waste materials, you don’t have to go to the store or wander through the forest. Everything you need can be easily found in the pantry, garage and even in the trash!

Old newspapers, cardboard boxes, egg containers, plastic bottles, juice and milk cartons, metal cans and lids - all this will come in handy to make children's crafts from waste materials, as well as products that will be useful to you yourself. Working with unusual materials will not only develop imagination, but also teach you to see new sides of ordinary things.

Crafts from disks

Probably every home has a stack of unnecessary CDs that no one has used for a long time. Discs can be an excellent material for creating many interesting things.

Heat the disk a little over the fire, bend it like a bowl - the original candlestick is ready! You can glue pieces of fabric to create interesting coasters for mugs and glasses. You can make a lamp or floor lamp from the disks.

Round, with a convenient hole in the middle... Yes, this is a finished watch! All that remains is to insert the clock mechanism and decorate it to your liking. Clocks can be either real, functional, or decorative.

The circle is already a completed shape. Excellent crafts from waste material for kindergarten can be obtained if you supplement it with a muzzle, paws and tail, or fins, or a beak and wings using colored paper, fabric, felt. Bright exotic fish, birds, lion cubs, tiger cubs, cats, dogs can live in your home - whatever your imagination can do.

Finally, you can cut the disk into small pieces and decorate many things with a mosaic pattern. This is how they decorate vases, Christmas tree decorations, photo frames and even walls! What other crafts can be made from waste material? The photographs show that the scope for imagination is truly limitless!

Crafts from plastic bottles

It's no secret that crafts made from waste materials are often made from plastic bottles. Flowerbeds are bordered with them, flowers are cut out of them, palm trees are made from them. All this has already become boring. Let's try to give you some interesting ideas that will surprise you.

Plastic palm trees are boring. But have you ever seen a Christmas tree made from green bottles? With a little work and patience, you can end up with a real fluffy beauty. And not only tabletop: the size of the tree depends only on your free time and desire.

Take two bottles, cut them in half, and connect the two lower parts. Now let's take up the paints - and boring plastic will turn into funny animals. You can do the same with an unusually shaped bottle.

Do containers of shampoos and shower gels accumulate? You can make a real flotilla out of them for playing at home and on the street. Make a sail from a long skewer and stick it into half a wine cork. Now use rubber bands to attach this structure to the closed bottle. The unsinkable ship is ready!

Why not go bowling? There is always a ball, and skittles can be made from plastic bottles. To prevent them from being blown away by the wind, add a little sand to the bottom. With the help of paints, such skittles can be turned into funny people or funny animals.

Crafts from waste material for school in winter can also be made from plastic bottles. It will be very unusual to decorate your classroom using Christmas tree decorations with your own hands. Cut the bottle into rings one centimeter thick and form the rings into a ball. The base is ready, and you can decorate the light ball with Christmas tree rain, sequins, and rhinestones. The bottom of the bottle is an almost finished snowflake, all that remains is to apply the design with white paint, and the brown bottle will make excellent cones.

Crafts from lids

So, we used the bottles, there were a bunch of colorful caps left. Don't rush to throw them away! The lids will be an excellent material for children's creativity. The little ones can draw faces on them, add ears and tails - you get a whole zoo. Glue several caps onto a sheet of cardboard - and they will become the heroes of an unusual design, for example, fish in an aquarium.

Lids are an excellent mosaic element. They can make an excellent panel with a geometric pattern or an animal figurine. Such a craft will become especially bright if you use paints.

And if you make holes in the lids using a hot awl, you can string them on rubber bands and create interesting little robotic people.

Crafts from newspapers and magazines

Do you have a pile of old, unwanted newspapers in your house? Show a little imagination and it will melt like snow under the spring sun! For example, they can make a great basket for storing... newspapers, for example.

The main way to work with newspapers is to twist them into thin tubes and weave them like a vine. By the way, things made using this method are outwardly indistinguishable from products made from wicker. After painting, of course.

What to do with a stack of glossy magazines? Read our master class. Crafts made from waste material, namely magazines, can become an original decoration for your home. Twist tubes from pages, make flat strips out of them, roll them into spirals of different sizes. Now inflate the balloon and use it as a base for the future round vase. After all the spirals are glued together around the ball, deflate it. Place the bottom of the vase on a flat surface.

Crafts from cardboard tubes and egg packaging

Toilet paper rolls and egg trays are the things that go straight into the trash. Meanwhile, they can also make crafts. Very interesting things come out of waste material (the photographs in the article demonstrate this).

Gently bend the edges of the tube inward. Reminds me of ears? Such a blank can make a wonderful owl or cat. Or maybe you see another animal in this silhouette?

Make a hat from an old sock or a small piece of fabric. Put it on a tube, draw a face - it turns out to be a little man. The hub easily becomes a racing car or an airplane.

Do you still have a cardboard egg tray? You can make a lot of animals and insects from it. These are spiders, caterpillars, bats, chickens and cockerels. Beautiful bouquets of bright voluminous flowers will also bloom under skillful hands.

Crafts from bags, boxes

Have you gotten your hands on a juice box? Crafts made from waste material in this category will pleasantly surprise you. For example, you can make a cute wallet to store small items, and it will also close! Take a close look at the milk carton. Do you see an almost finished bird feeder? All that remains is to cut holes on the edges with a sharp knife. You can decorate such a feeder using self-adhesive paper, then it will last longer in outdoor conditions. The package will also make a house for a small doll, furniture for Barbie, a ship, a car.

But from a large box of household appliances you can build a real castle for dolls, a house, a car, an airplane, a ship for a child, a bed for a large doll, a toy TV or an aquarium.

Panels and key holders

Making crafts from waste materials is not just an activity for children. You can make an excellent key holder or just a cute sign out of all kinds of garbage. Glue accumulated little things onto the board - old keys, puzzle pieces, gears, small plastic figures and other things with an interesting texture, attach hooks for keys. Now everything needs to be primed with black paint, and then spray applied with bronze. The key holder is ready!

The production of crafts is a type of effective activity created by the production of models using the widespread use of unclaimed materials, giving another life to things prepared for discarding.

The main task of creating crafts from unnecessary material is to develop the child’s creative, mental and visual abilities, as well as the perception of environmental norms and values.

By making various crafts, preschool children master the skills of finding spontaneous uses for any material:

  • plastic containers;
  • plastic dishes;
  • case from "KinderSurprise";
  • various caps;
  • computer disks;
  • all kinds of boxes;
  • candy wrappers;
  • plastic and foam;
  • insulation;
  • multi-colored paper;
  • other.

Age gradation

In the process of making crafts, it is necessary to carry out the following tasks:

From 3 to 4

Familiarization with the material and its capabilities and teaching how to use auxiliary material:

  • plasticine;
  • glue;
  • wire;
  • threads

From 4 to 5

  • Develop introductory and experimental skills;
  • Teach how to make simple trinkets, supplementing them with auxiliary materials.

From 5 to 7

  • To teach techniques for making crafts of complex designs;
  • Learn to bring picturesqueness into crafts by inventing and inventing decorative elements and all kinds of decorations.

Simulation at various stages

  1. Detailed analysis of the original.
  2. Planning step-by-step production of crafts Materials for assembling toy parts.
  3. Materials for assembling toy parts.
  4. Independent selection of raw materials and tools.
  5. Independent implementation of crafts, from the emergence of an image to the implementation of an idea.

Design creativity activates the process of cognition of the surrounding nature and favors the extensive and thorough development of the child’s abilities.

Making unusual crafts is an indispensable and productive tool for nurturing resourcefulness and intelligence in a child.

Creative work contributes to the development of fantasy, artistic imagination, instilling a love of environmental culture and caring attitude towards things.

Many people are not even aware of the existence of a whole direction in which many extraordinary people who love creativity are engaged, who have chosen various waste materials as material for their own works.

This direction is called dump art, it is quite widely represented in our time.

Its essence is simple - you don’t need to purchase expensive materials in order to make various crafts, because there are so many recyclable materials around, from which, if desired, you can build many original and unique, and often useful in life, objects.

Such things are not only profitable in material terms, as they are made from something that, in fact, has served its time.

Another undoubted advantage is that they are a wonderful way to introduce children to creativity, directing their energy in the right direction and at the same time helping to develop children's imagination.

What kind of waste material can be suitable for working on crafts?

What recyclable materials can you leave and from which you can later create your own works?

As a rule, this is primarily what is called inorganic waste, namely:

  • plastic (bottles, disposable plastic dishes, caps, rings) - all this can become material for almost any craft;
  • paper (newspaper files, cardboard boxes, etc.);
  • unnecessary remnants of fabric (especially denim);
  • metal waste;
  • faulty CDs;
  • glass (dishes, bottles, glasses, including damaged and cracked ones).

And this is not all of the available materials suitable for making crafts with your own hands. Thus, everything you need is almost always at hand!

Examples and photos of crafts made from waste materials

A large number of crafts can be made from plastic and its derivatives.

They not only decorate apartments or cottages, but are also placed in courtyards and playgrounds, while others will not think that all these things are made from recycled materials.

From disposable plastic utensils, in particular plates, you can make funny and original children's masks.

To do this, you need to paint them in the coloring and according to the animals that you want to depict and add the missing details to them - ears, mustaches or a lion's mane.

Almost all the elements necessary for this are also made from plastic utensils, after which they are painted and glued to the mask. After this, cut out slits for the eyes and attach an elastic band to the mask.

Applications

Before you make your own applique, you should think about what exactly you would like to see on it - bright flowers, intricate paper figures, animals or birds, or something else to your taste.

For example, you can make a lot of bright fish from old paper; they are made in the same way as masks, and then painted, fins and tails are glued to them.

Suspension

It will not be difficult to make a beautiful pendant from recycled materials. To make it you will need: a large or medium-sized disposable plate, woolen threads, pieces of plastic, beads, pumpkin seeds, scissors, a hole punch and glue.

First, use a hole punch to make a hole in the plate. Then cut out the petals from a piece of plastic and carefully glue them to the plate. Next you will paint the petals and pumpkin seeds, then attach some of the seeds to the plate.

Note!

The next step is to make flowers at the ends of the wool threads. They are made like this: first, a bead is attached to a thread, and then pumpkin seeds are glued to it.

After this, the threads with flowers are attached to the plate; they are fixed into pre-prepared holes. The pendant is ready!

Examples of plastic crafts

Plastic bottles are available in any apartment and in any country house. You shouldn’t get rid of them quickly, because from this seemingly absolutely useless garbage you can make a whole list of different things.

For example, if you cut out unique flowers from the bottoms of bottles and connect them with a strong thread or fishing line, you will get a beautiful curtain-partition.

By gluing these flowers and forming them into a spherical shape, you will get a lampshade for a table lamp.

Note!

By connecting several bottle bottoms using a holder and attaching a stand, you will have a rack for jewelry or other accessories.

You can also make Christmas tree decorations, flowerpots, vases and baskets from plastic bottles. Both caps and rings from bottles are used: from the rings you can weave a handbag yourself, and from the caps you can create a mosaic or make a massage mat.

By intertwining and discreetly decorating plastic forks and spoons, fold them into a fan, and plastic cups can be used as lamps.

Large five-liter bottles are ideal for turning them into interesting pigs. To do this, you need to paint them pink, and then make eyes and ears. Such crafts will look great at your dacha, organically fitting into any interior.

Another option for using plastic containers is wood made from plastic bottles. On a summer cottage or in the courtyard of a private house, such a product will look very original. And unnecessary bottle caps will come in handy to decorate a fence or wall.

Note!

We hope you have found useful information on how to make original crafts from waste materials yourself.

Using the above ideas, you can easily recycle unnecessary things and decorate your home or cottage at the same time.
