Slopes for entrance doors: varieties and step-by-step installation instructions. Slopes on the door with your own hands How to put slopes on the interior door

Professionals managed to bring the technology of window and door installation to perfection. Particular attention in this work is given to slopes, which are an indispensable element. According to current terminology, slopes are the surfaces of walls located around the door.

Features

After installing the door, I want to relax, but the most crucial stage is just ahead. After installing the product in the doorway, it turns out that the door slopes look, to put it mildly, ugly, they can spoil the first impression and the joy of replacing the door. This raises a completely reasonable question, and how to repair the walls so that they look attractive.

The most popular options are to plaster, and then paint or cover the space with a laminate.  Both options are practical, but in working with the laminate you will have to do the crate. If there is absolutely no experience in carrying out construction work, and you want to spend a small amount, then plaster remains the most attractive option.

There are several reasons why you should choose wall plastering. Among the main advantages:

  • no need to make a crate, which on the interior doors will take part of the space in the aisle;
  • there is no need to involve specialists in the work;
  • low cost of material;
  • it takes half as much time as in any other case when making slopes.

But there are disadvantages to this method, which are worth knowing about:

  • it is necessary to additionally cover the slopes with paint;
  • from an aesthetic point of view, not the best option.

In working with a laminate, you need not only experience, but also patience. Creating a crate takes longer, additional tools will be required:

  • hammer;
  • glue;
  • screwdriver.

It is necessary to spend money not only on the purchase of material, but also on dowels, a wooden beam, a decorative corner and self-tapping screws. But, from the point of view of aesthetics, this is the most attractive option for designing door slopes.

Kinds

Slopes can be classified into two large groups, without taking into account the material from which they are made, and the installation location:

  • domestic;
  • external.

Internal ones carry not only a functional load, but also an aesthetic one, so working with them is especially important.

There are quite a few options for how to surface the walls of the walls around the new door, no matter if it is interior or entrance. According to the material of execution, they are:

  • wooden;
  • cork;
  • plastering;
  • drywall;
  • plastic.

Depending on what material the slope will be made of, the installation technique also differs.

Materials

Highlight the new metal door will help the decoration of the slopes. Among the most requested materials:

  • paint;
  • ceramics;
  • wallpaper;
  • wood;
  • drywall;
  • a rock;
  • laminate;

PVC panels are a modern and inexpensive finishing material with aesthetic appeal and reasonable cost.

Device

In places where the front door adjoins the walls, heat leakage occurs, therefore, foam is used around the structure. It helps to quickly close gaps and achieve the necessary tightness.

The panels are easily mounted on the safe door, and you will need to purchase corners and platbands if simple plastering is not expected.

Such an element makes it possible to gently close after mounting the structure:

  • cracks;
  • polyurethane foam;

They can be considered as additional protection against draft, odor outside, noise. If you look at it in section, then it looks a bit like a sandwich.

The first layer consists of:

  • primer;
  • plaster;
  • corners;
  • finish finish.

Before applying the primer, the surface must be prepared. You can use a brush or roller. Sometimes after applying it, if it is necessary to insulate the opening, polypostyrene is laid.

Plastering is the easiest way to finish apertures, but you can use drywall, which is applied to a previously applied layer of plaster. Be sure to use a level or beacons, since the surface should be flat.

Using drywall allows you to qualitatively prepare the opening for further decoration.  This is a cheap and lightweight material, most often it is used for the installation of interior doors. Cut sheets create a flat surface without unnecessary loss of time, experience and patience will be required in working with plaster. A layer of plaster is best used on the front door, because there the surface of the wall can be subject to moisture, and drywall can not stand it.

Platbands or a corner are installed along the edge, which acts as a reinforcement for the further application of putty and grout. Be sure to conclude with a finishing primer.

The second slope is a decorative finish, which may be different. Some decide to simply paint the surface, while others use ceramic tiles and even natural stone.

Surface preparation

Before installing the door slopes, it is necessary to prepare the surface. Work consists of several sequential actions:

  • locks and handles are removed from the door structure, I close it with a film that is easily attached to a simple adhesive tape, and the floor is covered with ordinary cardboard;
  • old plaster is removed with a punch;
  • construction debris is carried out, freeing up space;
  • the cracks that appeared in sight are filled with mounting foam, before that, experts advise moistening the surface from the spray with plain water, which improves the adhesion of the material to the surface of the door jamb;

  • the foam dries after 8-12 hours, after which the excess is removed with a knife;
  • the surface is treated with antiseptic impregnation;
  • if an electric cable is provided, then it is worth laying it at this stage;
  • you can start plastering or installing the frame.

DIY installation

It is not easy to make repairs yourself, you just need to study the issue more carefully. If you decide to plaster the slopes, then, in addition to a small container for mortar, it is necessary to prepare a construction mixer. Its use guarantees the absence of lumps and uniformity of the applied composition.

You can’t do without finishing during the decoration without a level, the length of which should be at least two meters.  Plastering is carried out using spatulas, one should be narrow, the other wide. The primer is easily applied to the surface of the joint with a flat brush.

After preparatory work, the cut edges of the mounting foam must be sanded using sandpaper. The use of a primer is mandatory because it provides better adhesion of the plaster to the surface. Experts recommend applying a primer several times, but only after the first coat has completely dried.

Now you can start plastering the surface. The composition is superimposed in a thick layer starting from the top slope of the door.  A wooden rail will allow you to quickly even out and remove excess plaster. A perforated metal profile pressed into the corners helps strengthen them.

The starting layer must dry completely before applying the finish, which is necessary to hide small bumps.

Laminate, PVC is attached to the frame, for which it is first necessary to make a 2x4 cm beam.

The beam is sawn according to the size of the slope, on each part of the doorway they are attached perpendicular to the strip, 4 on the sides and three on top. Nails can be used as a fixing element.

You can beat the corners only if you bend the plastic panels. From the end, their structure is hollow, there is a void along the entire length, so it is easy to make incisions. It is very simple to do this with a simple clerical knife. Carved modules are attached to the frame by means of self-tapping screws, bent panels are attached to the wall.

Work should be in the following order:

  • mark the border of the trim elements;
  • 5 holes are drilled in the wall, which in the future will be covered by the finishing panel;
  • wooden corks are driven into the recesses, into which self-tapping screws should be screwed, thus fixing the decoration material on the wall.

Drywall as a building material allows you to quickly finish the slopes.

  • At the first stage, it is necessary to drill holes along the entire surface of the opening, the distance between which should be 20 cm. They install dowels, into which they then screw the screws not completely. It is necessary to choose the dimensions of the starting rail, which will play the role of a guide. To do this, you need to measure the three sides of the opening. The upper guide should be the width of the opening, since on the sides the sheets of material will abut the slope from above. The first top rail is screwed to the wall with screws.
  • The sheet of drywall in the next step is cut according to a pre-made markup. If you do not follow the technology, then the edges will be torn. Be sure to use a ruler during installation or anything that can replace it. The top layer of paper cuts easily, then the knife is a little more difficult to plunge into the plaster, but you need to make sure that its tip is visible from the back. If an adhesive mixture is used, on which drywall will sit on the wall, then it is important to read the instructions from the manufacturer well in order to observe the proportions.

  • The adhesive mass is laid on the back of the sheet of material, and dowels are also coated. The edges of the strip are introduced into the guide, and the drywall itself is pressed to the base. The same is worth doing on the sides. Appeared excess glue is removed immediately, as it leads to deformation.
  • Necessarily used beacons that allow you to keep the sheet in the same position. When gaps appear between sheets, you can use excess glue to fill them. Finishing is possible only after a day.

The slopes from MDF look good.Before starting installation, the wall surface must be treated with a lime-cement mixture . After it dries, a primer is applied. Before cutting the material, it is necessary to carefully measure the angles of the joints and cut the corners. If you attach elements to each other, there should be no space between them. The upper part of the opening is formed first, on which the adhesive composition is applied. The sheet is supported until it is well fixed in place. The second install the side parts. Corners can be fixed on liquid nails.

If you want to finish the slopes with paint, then depending on the material, you need to choose a composition. Previously, the door is removed, impregnation is applied to the wood, if varnished, then stain. For other dyes, you can use drying oil.

You can glue the slopes with any wallpaper, there is no specially created for this product. The picture will not look attractive, so it is advised to take plain. The technology consists of several stages:

  • stick a large sheet of wallpaper near the doorway, which should cover the entrance in size;
  • cut it horizontally so that you can completely close the slope;
  • using a rag or roller to smooth the surface of the material so that there are no bubbles under it;
  • repeat actions on all sides of the opening.

Wet rooms are finished with resistant materials, this also applies to slopes. Stone or ceramic tiles are ideal for grouting. Before installation, the surface must be plastered and leveled. Experts do not advise picking up heavy tiles, since it will not adhere well to the wall. The procedure is as follows:

  • the material is cut in accordance with the dimensions of the slope using a glass cutter or tile cutter;
  • glue is prepared in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions;
  • the composition is applied to the surface using a spatula, which helps to evenly distribute it;

  • glue application area should be equal to the area of \u200b\u200bthe glued tile;
  • the reverse side of the tile is also covered by the composition;
  • the material should be pressed a little to the surface, checking with the help of the level the correct position;
  • the second and subsequent tiles are installed with a gap of not more than 3 mm, while it should be free of glue, for this it is best to use beacons.

The composition under the tile will completely dry out only after 4 days, after which the plastic beacons can be removed and the free space filled with grout.

Door slopes in the apartment - a great opportunity to experiment with design. It is definitely worth considering the purpose of the door, that is, the entrance or interior doors, the purpose of the room, what material the box in the opening is made of.

Some types of materials are not so easy to mount, require skills and experience, the availability of tools.

  • When using drywall, tile or wood, before installing the slopes, you will need to correctly measure. The slopes in front of the front door should not have free cavities, this will increase the durability and reliability of the cladding.
  • Finishing with wood panels or plastic looks more attractive than painting surfaces. Drywall allows you to hide all errors. Using this option, you get rid of unnecessary expenses when purchasing materials necessary for leveling the walls. This method can rightly be called economical and simple, since installation can be handled independently.

  • Plastic panels are rarely used to design doorways, because the material does not withstand physical impact and breaks even with a small blow. This option is never reliable and durable. But wood is a durable and reliable material that will serve for a long time. This finish is suitable for different rooms.
  • Finishing work should be carried out taking into account the size of the doorway and the materials used. Thermal insulation is necessary as an additional stage of installation for entrance doors, since they must be not only durable, but also not create drafts in the apartment. When working with the front door, much attention must be paid to sealing the holes. Most often, mounting foam is used for this, which, after application, expands in volume, thereby filling the entire hole, without leaving free spaces inside. After complete drying, the excess foam can be easily cut with a simple knife, thus leveling the surface for further decorative finishes.

  • Plaster can be used directly on brickwork or already installed on MDF panels. If you have to work with it, it is worthwhile to study in more detail the features of the material and the process of its application, since this is one of the most difficult options for finishing slopes.
  • The advantage of perforated corners is difficult to overestimate, since they can significantly reduce the time spent on leveling the surface. The solution falls on them easily, and they themselves are completely hidden from view after applying the plaster.
  • It must be remembered that before starting work on decorating slopes, especially if it is the front door, it is important to close all gaps. If this is not done, then cold air begins to penetrate into the gaps, which condenses into the wall, moist spots appear on the wall, and subsequently mold, the decorative finish falls off.
  • Surface preparation is important for plastering walls. Work takes a lot of time, but it is recommended to process the surface in several layers. First, a primer layer is applied, which improves the adhesion of the plaster to the surface. To achieve a perfectly flat surface, a profile fixed with dowels must be applied.

  • For the manufacture of the solution, cement, sand, lime mortar should be used, you can buy a ready-made mixture. The technology of applying to the surface involves starting work from the slopes of the upper region. First, a thick layer of plaster is applied, after which the excess amount is removed. To ensure that the slope angles are smooth, it is recommended to use a perforated profile. It is fixed to the surface by applying a stucco mixture. Only after that a finishing layer is applied, which should be thin. It helps eliminate bumps and roughness.
  • If you work with MDF panels, the base must be made of lime-cement mortar. After drying, it is applied to a surface previously treated with a primer. The panels should be divided into three parts, each of which corresponds to the size of the side of the doorway. A special glue is applied to the surface, then a panel is installed.

The installation work of the slopes is carried out in strict sequence, if you skip at least one stage, the final result will only disappoint, and the materials will be wasted.

On how to properly trim the door slopes, see the following video:

Recently, I learned in detail what the door slopes are and what they are after I installed the door. The fact is that if you order the installation of entrance or interior doors, masters often just do their job, not puzzled by what you will do with the slopes.

And here there are two options: hire a team of finishers and pay them decent money for a trivial job, or do the door slopes with your own hands. I chose the second option, and frankly, I encountered certain difficulties.

I hope this article will help to avoid my mistakes and to do everything efficiently and reliably.

Door Slope Finish

After the installation of the interior doors was over, and I wanted to relax, it turned out that there was such a thing as door slopes, and they looked very impartial after installation. Leaving them in this state means spoiling the whole look of the house.

The question arose - how to fix them. Two options immediately came to mind:

  • Plaster and then paint.
  • Make the door slopes of the laminate, which remained after the repair.

Both options are equally practical, but installing a laminate requires at least a small crate, which is not always possible to install, especially if the opening is already narrow. In this case, the plastering of door slopes is an ideal option that does not require large financial costs and special skills in construction.

But first things first.

Plaster

Before proceeding to the description of the process of plastering the slopes on the door, it is necessary to understand why this method is better than others, and why it should be preferred. As you know, everything has its pros and cons. Stucco is no exception.

Benefits

  1. There is no need to install a crate that hides the width of the opening, which is especially true for interior doors.
  2. You can fix the slopes on the doors yourself, without involving builders and, accordingly, additional costs.
  3. The relatively low cost of all necessary materials and tools.
  4. The whole process will take only a few hours, even if there is no relevant experience.

Well, now a little about the negative side of such door slopes.

disadvantages

  1. After plastering, door slopes require an additional coat of paint.
  2. The aesthetic component leaves much to be desired.

Honestly, I was looking for the negative side for a long time, but I didn’t find it, so we’ll dwell on what is and move on to the installation process.

Plastering slopes

Plastering door slopes, like any other repair, requires the preparation of materials and tools to facilitate this moment, we list all that we may need.

Tool:

  • Putty knife.
  • Construction level.
  • Grout with fine sandpaper.
  • Paint roller or primer brush.
  • A screwdriver, if installation is carried out under "beacons".
  • Trowel for initial surface leveling.

Materials:

  • Plaster mix. It is advisable to take ready-made so as not to waste time independently mixing cement with sand.
  • "Lighthouses", enough for two on each slope.
  • Decorative corners that match the color of the design of the room.
  • Soil impregnation antibacterial.

So, let's begin. First of all, it is necessary to thoroughly clean the surface of the slope from possible contaminants: dust, dirt.

Important! The unpurified surface does not adhere well to the mixes and within a few months the plaster will begin to fall away.

Next, primer the surface with a roller or brush. Do not regret the primer, as they say - you can’t spoil the porridge with butter. Moreover, cold bridges are always formed near the door, which can lead to condensation.

The primer should be allowed to dry well and only then proceed with the installation of the “beacons”. By the way, if you have skills in plastering, then you can do without them. Lighthouses are installed along the edges of the slopes and are fixed to the wall using self-tapping screws or dowels.

After this, the plaster mixture is prepared, or rather, it is simply diluted with water in the proportions indicated on the package.

The plaster is applied with a spatula to the entire slope from the bottom up. And with the help of a trowel, which they lean against two lighthouses, and remove the excess mixture.

The leveled layer of plaster is left to dry completely, and only after that the surface is smoothed with fine sandpaper.

Now it remains to make a decorative coating and set the corners. On this installation can be considered completed.

Laminate

Making slopes for doors with a laminate is a bit more complicated than just plastering. Installation takes place in two stages:

  1. The manufacture of the crate.
  2. Laminate installation.

The list of tools is even shorter than when working with plaster.

  • Screwdriver.
  • Hammer.
  • Glue for fixing decorative corners.

Materials:

  • Laminate.
  • Dowels.
  • Wooden block.
  • The corner is decorative.
  • Wood or plasterboard screws.

Advice! if the slope width does not exceed 20 cm, then the laminate can be installed in length. If the panel is already sloping in width, then the installation will have to be done horizontally from small segments.

Lathing

A wooden beam is best suited for these purposes, since it is thinner than a metal profile and the opening will not lose much in size. The timber needs to be treated with impregnations as well as the wall itself. This will protect the tree from decay and significantly extend the life of the finish.

The beam is fastened to the wall with dowels in increments of about 50 cm, there should be two such guides, one on each side of the slope, but if the opening is very wide, then you may need to install a third beam in the middle.

After the crate is ready, you can proceed to the laminate.

Laminate installation

Installation of door slopes from the laminate starts from the bottom up. The first segment is installed to the floor with a minimum clearance of 2-3 mm, since the laminate does not have thermal deformation, this is quite enough. Further, the whole process is no different from floor mounting. Segments are interconnected in a lock and snap into place.

The segments are attached to the crate by screws to the very edge, then the hats will be closed with decorative corners.

Advice! Before attaching the laminate to the slope, it is advisable to pre-drill holes for self-tapping screws, since the edge of the laminate can crack or flatten.

After all the panels are fixed, you can put the corners. The easiest way to attach them to glue is the easiest and most reliable way.

Conclusion

Having figured out the question of how to close up the slopes after installing the entrance or interior doors, you can safely get to work. Of course, there are many other ways to do this, but the option described in this article is the least expensive and probably the simplest.

What door to be in the apartment, metal or wooden, is up to you. And we will tell you how to set the door slopes on the front door with your own hands on your own, without the hassle and loss of time.

And so, when the doors to the apartment are already installed, it's time to do the installation of slopes. They guarantee the reliability and safety of the room, as well as protection that protects against heat loss. Sound insulation in the apartment and on the corridor depends on them.

The outer part of the door is often treated with platbands, puttied with mortar or mounted during installation. The inner side requires special attention and will cope with it much more difficult.

The surface of the apartment door looks like a slab of concrete or brick, strewn with various fasteners and bolts. To cultivate this species, it is necessary to establish slopes. This type of work can be performed by door manufacturers if it is prescribed in the contract or has been previously agreed. If there is no such service, the installation should be carried out independently.

The process of installing the slopes of the front door is not particularly difficult, however, you must be on the alert and take all actions following the instructions. What? How? And why? We are telling.

The purpose of the design of the slope is to increase the burglar resistance of the door, adjust the surface, hide the fastenings from the eyes and, most notably, improve the appearance.

We will understand the existing types of formation of slope structures:

  • Processing solutions and plasters.
  • Fastening the finishing material to the mortar.
  • Sheathing of the frame, made using finishing materials.

This division arose due to the difference in the method of creating a slope, which is created by a variety of materials for lining.

The most popular of them:

  • MDF (fiberboard),
  • laminate,
  • plasterboard cloths,
  • plastic sheets and cellulose panels,
  • wood coverings.

The main task is to determine the material and begin to implement the plan.

First way

If you bet on the protection of the room and sound insulation in it, we perform the termination with a solution, then this option will be most acceptable. Upon completion, we obtain a slope without voids and, not amenable to the formation of deflections.

This option is simple both in implementation and in external characteristics.

Second way

If you add coloring or textured tiles to such a scheme, it will turn out as a designer. And you yourself will be the specialist. To realize the second type is simply due to the use of finishing materials that are attached to the solution.

This option helps to achieve absolutely any visual perception. In terms of efficiency, akin to the first form, but also more beautiful.

Third way

The third method is carried out by mounting any finishing material.

So on a constructed frame, presented from a metal profile or, which is not less common, wooden blocks, drywall, plastic or fiberboard is attached.

This method is appropriate if the two previous types are very expensive and require a large amount of materials.

In addition, this design looks more presentable and allows you to install lighting directly above the door. And this will illuminate a passerby from the very entrance to the apartment. This type of slope is more convenient in order to lay an Internet cable or interactive cable television.

1 step: Preparation of the construction

Preparatory work with each type of slope formation does not differ. Before starting, the door itself and the entrance opening must be glued with a film - this is done in order to protect the canvas from possible deformations.

After that, you should "comb" all the bumps, creating a smooth surface so that convex particles are not visible.

After that, the surface is primed (with such types of primers, which have full permeability) and overcast.

If the walls are made of material characterized as loose - the primer should be used surface.

At the preliminary stage, it is better to take care immediately and lay the cable responsible for light transmission. If the slope is planned to be made with wireframe mounting, then the cable conductive light is installed at the end of the work.

Nuance: first draw on the floor the image of the future frame and focus on these indicators. Such marks will help to prevent form errors.

2 step: Plaster prepared slope

So-called beacon profiles are installed on a preformed surface, already primed. They allow you to make the surface as even as possible when distributed on the surface of the solution. These mini rails are also mounted on mortar.

It is most appropriate to use gypsum, because its properties (dry quickly) help to quickly take up the next step.

So, at the edges of the ends we put a few drops of the solution and set the stabilizer beacons. We adjust their position with the bubble level.

From the moment of hardening of the solution, we fill the slopes with the solution. This substance is cement-sand in nature. Its proportions for mixing are 1: 4. By consistency, the mass should resemble thick sour cream.

After we add gypsum in small quantities. The resulting ready-made solution must be applied to the surface and aligned with beacons.

At the end of the day (it is during this time that the solution dries), you can proceed to the next step - applying putty. By the abrasive mesh we align by that time the dried putty. And the final stage will be painting the slope.

3 step: Sloping the decoration materials

Already on a leveled and primed surface on which the level is indicated, we set the necessary emphasis for the sheathing material. This is done by screwing the screws into the wall until the cap matches the height of the skin. And only after that we fill all the spaces with a solution around the perimeter.

First layer

The first layer - cement-sand mortar is applied not a thick layer to half the length of the protruding screws.

Next layer

The next layer is an adhesive solution suitable for your type of materials, we compare the slope surface and go to the joints of the first layer of material from the back side. After which, we try to install the sheets so that they become close to the caps of the screws.

You can check your work by attaching a level to the slope.

Until the solution has dried, we correct the errors. We close all the gaps between the sheathing sheets with a solution and only after we fix the platbands, if necessary.

4 step: Mounting the structure on the frame

In the case of installing the frame, pre-treat the wall with a primer. This process will prevent premature sprinkling and will allow you to perform work more efficiently.

After procuring materials from which the mounting process will be carried out. This is most often bars, a metal profile or ordinary rails.

Depending on the thickness of the material used, we ground the wall to such a level that it evens out and impeccably mounts the frame in the future. Along the perimeter of the opening at the edges, 2 rivers and 2 profiles are attached in parallel. To strengthen the structure, jumpers are attached, focusing on the floor at the seams of the sides.

Upon completion of these works, we fix the frame using impact screws and dowels. It is necessary to take into account, first we lay the cable for the light wiring and only after we fix the source with the sheathing.

The fixing of the casing has differences that depend on the material used:

  • We fix the drywall around the perimeter using screws. The gap between the wall and the sheets is filled with a solution or we mount the platbands. The edges of the sheets are reinforced with perforated corners. The joints are sealed with a sickle (construction tape). The resulting surface is putty and evened with a fine abrasive grater. And as the final stage - painting or wallpapering.
  • MDF (medium density fiberboard). This plate differs in the most esthetic indicators, wear resistance and durability. Unlike previously described. Fastening of MDF is carried out with small nails, self-tapping screws or clamps. It is important in this technique to make sure that any of the types used does not interfere with the subsequent installation of the slope structure. By using wood fiber boards, corners and joints are closed with corners or platbands with liquid nails.
  • Laminate stripes are laid along and across which is absolutely irrelevant, except for visual perception. However, it must be taken into account: in the transverse technique, the first blade to the bottom of the frame is attached at the edges, in the longitudinal - in the center and along the edges. In addition, in the first technique, after fastening, all subsequent elements are secured with a lock.
  • Installation of plastic structures is identical to laminate fastening. However, due to the properties of the plastic, which is lighter, the grip units should be much larger. An important condition on which this introduction depends is the fact of the load on the front door - it often opens and closes at various temperature conditions. And so the material will succumb to endurance testing. Therefore, it is recommended to fix plastic every 10-15 cm.

Upon completion of the main work, it’s time to move on to connecting various lighting devices. At this stage, the door and the box can be freed from film captivity, as It is done.

As you can see for yourself, installing slopes on the front door is not a difficult job. It is enough to decide on the option: imagine what I would like to see in the end and get to work, carefully considering all the nuances. And our guide article will only benefit you.

When the repair and installation of the front door is completed, the doorway near it often has an unsightly appearance, which can spoil the feeling of joy after the repair is completed. In addition, unformed edges allow drafts to penetrate inside and lower the room temperature. Therefore, it is very important to correctly make and design door slopes in order to prevent the influence of all these negative factors.

Features

When the doors are already installed in the apartment, many people think that protection from external factors, such as noise and cold, is provided. But it is not so. Additional finishing is necessary in order to complete the repair and give the doorway a harmonious appearance. From the outside, the entrance doors are always trimmed with platbands or with a special solution during installation, but the internal slopes of the master during the installation of the door frame are always left to the discretion of the owners of the house.

Finishing slopes is not part of the installation of the door. That is why concrete, brick or other materials without external decoration are right in front of our eyes. To hide all this, it is necessary to correctly form the slopes. Not all companies that install doors provide additional services for the design of slopes. That is why this task is very often passed on to the shoulders of the owner of the house, and he has to carry out these works independently.

The purpose of the installation of this element is to give an elegant appearance to the door and the doorway, as well as to give completeness to its outlines.

In addition, door slopes are installed in order to hide from prying eyes all door fastenings and increase protection against burglary. In addition, with their help they provide heat and sound insulation, as well as protection against dust and dirt flying from the street or from the landing.

Slopes are a very important and necessary element, which can make the doorway more presentable and neat.They are a beautiful decoration that complements any hallway. Slopes are made out in accordance with the style of the front door, as well as in accordance with its color scheme and with the stylistic design of the hallway. That is why the right choice of slopes is a very important task.

Apart from the decorative function, the slopes also very effectively insulate the door frame and allow you to hide the joints between the box and the wall. Slopes also hide mounting foam. Thus, this element also allows you to additionally perform the role of thermal insulation. Polyurethane foam, located in full view of the room, absorbs moisture and loses its protective properties, and at the same time it looks very neat.

Thus, door slope is a very important element that is paid attention to during repair.

Kinds

Three main slope systems for door structures are distinguished, differing in the method of installation:

  • Application of cement to the wall and subsequent plastering. Such a finishing system is considered the most reliable and fairly cheap. But not everyone can cope with such a task, it is a very time-consuming and painstaking process. In order to create very even and high-quality surfaces, it is necessary to have the skills to prepare the correct stucco mortar and experience in its uniform application and distribution.

  • Slope clearance system using panels and special glue. In this case, an adhesive mixture is made and ready-made finishing panels are applied to it. This principle is quite expensive. In another way it is called wet.

This process is very long, since each layer of glue needs to dry well before you apply the next layer. But even with the long duration of such work, they are quite simple and even a beginner in the installation business can cope with them.

Fastening the finish to an already finished frame. This is a very simple and quick way that allows you to achieve perfect in shape and very neat door slopes. So you can not only hide from prying eyes a concrete wall, bricks and foam, but also close all wires and other communication networks.

In addition, you can independently install additional lighting devices in the door frame and play beautifully with light in this area of \u200b\u200bthe room. This option is suitable for panel apartments, as well as for a private house.

The only drawback of this method is the low strength and susceptibility of finishing materials even on a steel frame to mechanical stress. Thus, this option will be more prone to hacking. As a rule, it is used for finishing wooden door structures inside an apartment.

For more details on how to slope the front door from MDF, see the next video.

Materials

To design slopes very often use high-quality and stable finishing materials.

Paint

This is one of the most popular coatings, which allows you to very bright and interesting to design a door slope. You can make it an interesting accent of your hallway. In addition, you can choose the paint and the color of the door. In this way, even a metal door can be designed. You can buy water-based paint or use the usual option. In addition, you can apply a beautiful textured pattern, which will look very original and will become an adornment of any hallway.

Wallpaper

This is a great solution for those who decided not only to change the door in the hallway, but also to completely repair the corridor. To decorate the door slope with wallpaper is quite simple, but this requires an even base. Very often the walls use the same wallpaper as on the slopes. This gives the impression of a monolithic surface. Thus, you can visually expand the doorway and the space of the hallway as a whole.

Single Sided Sandwich Panels

These panels are a sheet of polymer plastic onto which a layer of extruded polystyrene foam is glued. It has a rather dense texture, which has excellent sound insulation properties and acts as great option for insulation.Thus, you will not need to additionally insulate the doors and take special measures for sound insulation.

Such panels are very light in weight and therefore hold well on the door even on special glue without additional fasteners. In addition, their design can be the most diverse, there are even models for wood and products that mimic other materials and surfaces.

Plastic panels

This is a fairly easy to install option, which has an interesting decor. Plastic panels are somewhat similar to the previous version, but at the same time they are less reliable and thinner. If the slopes are deep, then laying plastic is not recommended.. This is due to the fact that it can be easily deformed and damaged. Plastic panels will not give the same stiffness over the entire door slope. But their undoubted advantage is an interesting and diverse design.

Vinyl panels are very popular among plastic options. They are pretty reliable. In addition, if this element of the door structure is sheathed with vinyl, it will respond well to temperature extremes and the level of humidity, which is typical for areas near the front door. Therefore, they are often used for sheathing slopes.

MDF

This is a very durable material, which is resistant to external influences. It perfectly withstands various influences and practically no scratches or other point damage remain on its surface. Externally, this material is similar to wood panels, so it looks very elegant. In addition, MDF is very easy to install and can be installed on almost any door slopes. Such models look best on wooden products.But there are also models for metal doors.

Parquet board

This natural quality material is perfect for decorating door slopes. Usually it is chosen for wooden doors or for the color of the flooring. It is important to choose the most precisely suitable tone, texture and relief. Thus, this composition will look very beautiful and harmonious. Manufacturers represent a huge number of types of flooring, which outwardly can match any wooden door, especially models under wenge are especially beautiful.

Laminate

Another option that is perfect for finishing slopes. It can simulate a door pattern, so it is perfect for models made of natural materials. They can repeat the pattern of any other materials, including being similar to stone, marble and other finishes. Thus, it can be selected for almost any type of door leaf.

Since the laminate is often used as a floor covering, it is distinguished by its strength and endurance, so the slopes will last a very long time.

But there are a number of materials that are used to insulate the door frame. For this, foam, penoizol, methvate, and other materials are used. But in the case when the width of the slopes is small, it is quite difficult to make warming, so sandwich panels are perfect. To decorate wide doorways, frame slopes are often used. When installing thin sheets, such as plastic panels, heaters are often used - polyurethane foam, sealant and other materials, performing the role of heat barrier.

Which drywall to use?

Any drywall is a layer of gypsum between two strong cardboard sheets. This is one of the easiest materials to install. They allow you to level the surface without putty and primer. Even a beginner in this business can handle the installation of drywall sheets.

In addition, this design of slopes allows you to get rid of excess debris that could occur when using a different finishing method. In this case, the slopes turn out to be perfectly smooth and even, which gives room for imagination and their further design.

To design slopes at the front door, it is important to take not standard models, but materials that are distinguished by quality and water resistance. It withstands well the increase in humidity inherent in the hallway. To ensure greater security, it is better to give preference to sheets with the addition of fiberglass, since such a material is fireproof and provides insulation of the input structure.

How to close up for a metal sheet?

To finish the slopes at the metal entrance door, the frame method is most often used. To create a foundation, it is necessary to use metal profiles. Acceptance is also finished with wooden blocks. It is important that the web is snug against the surface.

To strengthen the metal door frame, you must install jumpers on the supporting part of the structure. Especially important is their installation at the corners of the structure. At this stage, it is possible to lay cables and other wires. After this, it is necessary to fix the selected canvas with screws or nails.

Sealing slopes of metal doors with a cement-sand slope is also very popular. But for this it is necessary to level all the slopes with a primer and emphasize the subsequent installation of finishing materials. For metal construction   it is important to consider the thickness of the mortar layer and the thickness of the finishing materialso that this finish is not too massive and does not violate the overall picture of the door structure.

Drywall is perfect for sealing slopes near a metal door. This is due to its small thickness and versatility. But this material requires additional insulation.

Finish after installation

After installing the door, it is important to correctly form the slopes in order to ennoble the appearance of the entrance to the house as a whole. This can be done easily with your own hands, the main thing is to properly align the door slopes from the inside. A very interesting option for finishing after installing the doors is the use of extras. You can also use the following options.

Natural or artificial stone

This is a pretty elegant and beautiful option that performs a decorative role. It is quite expensive, especially when it comes to natural stone. This method has many advantages, since the material is considered to be very durable and high quality. Natural stone is a completely environmentally friendly option that is resistant to external mechanical influences.

But a cheaper artificial stone is not of the same quality. It has a large number of disadvantages, since it is made on a gypsum basis. It is easily damaged and wrinkled. In addition, it can easily crumble or deform due to exposure to water or in high humidity.

Tile

This method of decoration after installing the door is quite complicated. Not all tile options can be used for this. In particular, it is better to avoid the use of glazed models, since they will look very strange and cheap on door slopes. It is best to prefer clinker tiles.

This option can imitate brickwork or natural stone. Therefore, it can be selected for anyone with a stylistic design of the hallway. It is best to choose not too easily soiled and not glossy tiles. This finish option is good because these surfaces are quite easy to care for. In addition, manufacturers represent a wide variety of models for decoration.

PVC panels

Very simple finishing material, which is cheap, beautiful, but short-lived. Some low-quality models can be easily pierced, even leaning on them with an elbow or strongly hitting the foot.

Decorative plaster

This is a very interesting, but rather time-consuming installation option. Applying decorative plaster is a whole art, so this process is best left to professionals. But in the end, the slopes and the space around the door can significantly change.

All finishing methods are used both individually and in combination with each other. So you can not only beautifully design the door structure and slopes, but also make the door more reliable, insulate and protect it from external factors and from breaking.

Installation and design options

There are two main options for mounting slopes:

  • frameless;
  • wireframe.

Before proceeding to the decoration, it is necessary to make sure that the structure is installed correctly, that the exact parallel between the opposite borders of the door frame and the tightness of all seams are observed. First of all, it is necessary to check the design for cracks. To do this, light a match or a candle and hold it along the entire doorway. Where the flame begins to deviate or even go out, it is necessary to additionally warm the slopes and add sealant.

When all the insulation work has been completed, you need to cut off the excess dried layer of mounting foam and additionally close the door frame with masking tape. After that it is important to get rid of old plaster and loose concrete and brick wall elements.

After this, it is necessary to proceed to plastering. First you need to completely clean the wall of building dust and level it. Then you need to use a deep penetration primer. It will make the base of the frame more durable and even.

It is very important to pay special attention to the concrete lintel on the door. For its processing, it is better to use the so-called concrete contact.

If the surface does not absorb moisture well, then special soil must also be used. After the soil layer dries, you will need to install profiles. But before that, it is better to wait about 8 hours until completely dry. Profiles are necessary in order to smooth the layers of plaster on all slopes.

To do this, it is necessary to mark the position of the vertical line at the side of the door with a laser or simplest level at about 3-4 cm. There it is necessary to drill several holes with a diameter of 6 mm in increments of 30 cm. Dowels are inserted into the holes, and then the level of their caps is leveled with twine. After installing all of these items it is necessary to check their correctness and even vertical.According to the same principle, it is necessary to install a profile on top and on the opposite side of the doorway.

After the installation process is complete, it is necessary to make a cement mixture. It is best to use sand and cement of the M150 brand for this. All these finishing materials must be sieved through a sieve with small cells. To create a high-quality solution, it is necessary to mix sand with cement in a ratio of 3: 1. In the dry mixture, you need to gradually add clean water and at the same time stir the resulting solution with a special drill nozzle.

When the mixture becomes homogeneous and thick, like dough, the solution can be used to finish the slopes. Using a spatula, it must be sharply and quickly thrown onto the wall and ironed, closing the profiles. Thus, you can make a perfectly flat surface without unnecessary deformations.

The panel-less option without a frame is simpler. In this case, a laminate, drywall, sandwich panels, MDF, chipboard and other options are often used. And you absolutely do not have to smooth the surface of the slopes. Finishing is carried out by mounting on glue.   It is important that the surface is straight.  There should be no defects or bumps on the surface.

Even if the door frame itself has some defects, they can be corrected with the help of such a design of slopes. In this case, it is necessary to plaster the door exactly in places lacking for a flat surface. If the original surface is even and smooth, then finishing with the frame method will be very simple. Initially, you need to apply soil to the base, where the panels will be fixed.

Then you need to measure all the slopes and choose the right amount of finishing materials. On the panels you need to make all the notes and put dots. Then you need to connect all the lines and check them using a tape measure and a special square. This must be done very carefully.A sheet of such a panel must be sawn into the required number of individual elements and prepared for installation.

As for the laminate or parquet, they can be installed either vertically, one for each slope in width, or horizontally using several short panels. Then, it is necessary to apply glue to the finishing material with a nesting method in increments of about 15 cm in the shape of a square. All glue stains need to be dried a little so that a film begins to form on their surface. Only then can slope elements be applied, but it is important to be very precise, since it will be possible to align the trim panels only a couple of centimeters, no more.

Then, starting from the top and moving down, you need to gently press the panels against the wall, but do not press them hard so as not to push them. This is especially true for plastic panels.

Design and decor

The design of the door slopes is the final touch after finishing them. As a rule, models made of MDF and decorative materials do not require additional decoration, since these materials look pretty elegant and without additions. This also applies to options with laminate flooring, parquet board and plastic panels. To complete the finishing work, in this case, platbands are installed and the joints and all joints are masked using special furniture stickers or mastics, which are selected in exact accordance with the color of the finishing materials.

But if the doorway is only plastered, then it is necessary to use other methods of decoration for it. So, for this they use paint, decorative plaster or wallpaper. But before that, the slope is covered with two layers of putty in order to hide irregularities and get a smooth layer. When finishing with paint, a primer is first applied, and then a layer of water-based paint and a bright accent on a layer of acrylic paint. So you can interestingly draw a slope and make it very bright, playing in contrast with the door. This decor looks especially interesting in black and white.

Another decoration option is wallpapering. But it is better to select them in the color of the walls in the hallway, so either you need to choose the most similar coating, or trim the slopes and all the walls with one material. If you picked up the wallpaper only for the decor of slopes, it is better to pay attention to the options without a picture, since they can look a little strange near the door. This is due to the fact that most doors have a classic simple design.

Wallpaper should completely cover the entire width of the door slope, taking into account the overlap of the line of the corner, so that you can cut off the excess at any time. Wallpaper can be textured, embossed and even have an interesting mother of pearl shimmer. They will look very beautiful and elegant. But try to use dull wallpaper for the decor of door slopes, which can also be washed and cleaned. This is due to the fact that dust and dirt from the street very often accumulate near the front door.

With sloppy slopes, even the most expensive and chic front doors will look unattractive. Why do we need slopes for the front doors? First of all, they are used as a beautiful frame, a means of complementing and highlighting the main element - that is, the door itself. So that you can decide what material to make slopes from, it is necessary, first of all, to pay attention to the design of the door structure itself, its style and color. After all, it is important that the slopes are suitable not only for the design of the door, but also for the overall design of the room.

We also note that the described elements perform not only aesthetic functions - they are also an insulating layer, because they cover the joints between the structure and the walls.

Basic materials for making slopes

To create slopes, you can use a variety of materials, although, as an option, you can bring to the "divine form" already existing slopes.

Option one. Plaster

If the door structure is strong and reliable, but it doesn’t look very presentable, strengthen the corners and even out the slopes using plaster. What is characteristic, this is often done not only from the side of the staircase, but also in the hallway itself.

Note! The plaster slopes will look quite neat - if you wish, you can additionally paint them in the color of the room or the door trim.

Option two. Drywall

This material is advisable to use if the slopes you get wide due to the sufficiently large wall thickness. Thanks to the use of drywall, your walls will become warmer, and all existing joints will be securely closed. In addition, the slopes, again, will look very neat.

If you want, you can subsequently paint drywall or, as an option, wallpaper. One of the main advantages of the material is that for its installation does not require laborious work to level the surface.

The third option. Natural wood

If the wood is suitable for door trim, then you can use it for slopes. It's no secret that wood has always enjoyed considerable popularity and, most likely, will never go out of fashion ever. The material fits perfectly into almost any interior design, and if necessary, you can easily change the tint of the material using folk / modern means.

In addition, wood will be able to serve you for many years, while maintaining all its decorative and operational properties. Although, in extreme cases, you can always paint it to the color of the hallway.

The fourth option. Laminated Lining

Such a lining, made on the basis of particleboard, can be an excellent alternative to natural wood.

Due to the fact that this material is available in a variety of colors and can mimic the texture of various tree species, you can always choose the most suitable option for the design of the hallway. However, it is extremely undesirable to use the lining when decorating the external slopes, since it will simply quickly become worthless there.

The fifth option. PVC panels

The next material through which they can get off slopes for entrance doorsare pre-made PVC panels. This material is made in a variety of colors, and the dimensions of the panels can also be different. Specialized companies are engaged in the manufacture and sale of this kind of panels, where specialists work who also deal with their (panels) installation.

Looks like the decoration of the slopes is attractive and respectable. The service life of PVC panels is quite large, but it is still advisable to mount them from the entrance side, and from the reverse side, options No. 1 or No. 2 (they are described above).

Note! If you are completely confident in yourself, you can finish the slopes with finished elements with your own hands.

Although it is worth noting that there is another application for sloping polymer materials - in this case we are talking about plastic lining. It also comes in various colors, so you can easily choose the most suitable option for decorating the hallway.

Option six. Particleboard Panels

Yes, they are also widely used in the design of slopes. But, as a rule, only for thick walls. Although in fairness, we note that this option has not been very popular in recent years due to the emergence of a huge number of more modern materials that can replace chipboards that are so difficult to install.

In any case, if you have a panel of suitable sizes lying around, you can quite make it through the door slopes from the inside.

Note! There are other materials used in the design of slopes (for example, a laminate, installation instructions for which will be given at the end of the article), but only the most common options were considered above.

What do you need to make slopes yourself?

Before you begin to work directly, you must prepare all the necessary materials and equipment. So, if we are talking about plaster, then you should prepare:

  • finishing putty;
  • sandpaper (large and medium);
  • primer;
  • serpentine tape, self-tapping screws and a mounting knife (in case plasterboard sheets will be used for decoration);
  • the plaster itself;
  • iron perforated corner (it will be required to align the corners);
  • level;
  • spatulas of different sizes;
  • plumb line;
  • rule (it is important that it be shortened);
  • electric drill with a special nozzle-mixer;
  • a suitable container for mixing.

If panel materials are used in the decoration, the list of everything you need will look a little different:

  • the panels themselves of the material you have chosen, additional elements required for their installation;
  • hammer;
  • platbands, decorative corners;
  • timber 2x3 or 1.5x3 centimeters (in case slopes for entrance doors  will be trimmed with lining);
  • screwdriver;
  • dowels;
  • electric jigsaw (as an option - you can use a simple hacksaw);
  • hammer drill (in case of walls made of concrete);
  • measuring instruments;
  • self-tapping screws with which the panels will be mounted.

When all the required equipment and materials are ready, you can proceed with the preparatory work and the finishing itself. Let us consider in more detail each of the possible options.

How to trim slopes for entrance doors - detailed step-by-step instructions

First, get acquainted with some features of the finishing process.

  • Most of the materials described above are installed using the same technology.
  • Separate technologies are quite simple, but because the work may well be done independently.
  • The rest, on the contrary, can be applied only if there are certain skills in working with materials and equipment.

In any case, the finishing work itself should begin only after the installation of the door structure and the closure of all joints between it and the wall. We also add that the previous coating should be removed from the slopes in advance, as well as the peeling areas should be repaired. After carrying out all these events, you can proceed directly to the decoration, using one of the technologies presented below.

Option one. Plastering door slopes

If you decide to use a stucco mixture for decoration, then proceed in accordance with the instructions.

Step one. First, prime the previously cleaned surfaces (if you can, then with two layers, but the second layer should be applied only after the first has completely dried).

Second step. After that, determine how smooth the slope angles are. In case of deviations from the norm, be sure to consider this moment when installing reinforcing corners. Using the latter, you can easily align corners that slightly deviate from the vertical.

Third step. Next, using the level and plumb line, set the perforated metal corners in the corners. Ideally, they should immediately be attached to the finishing putty (the latter can be purchased ready-made). Apply it using a spatula to the corners of the slopes - the mixture is necessary not only for fixing the corners, but also for aligning the slopes horizontally / vertically. Remove excess solution that has come through the perforation immediately using the same spatula. When everything is perfectly smooth, you can relax for a while - the putty should dry completely.

Fourth step. In the case of uneven slopes, before setting the leveling corners, it is recommended to set the direction from the door jamb, fixing a plasterboard strip along it with a width of about 0.8-1 centimeter. Use putty to fix this material to the surface. If the putty you are using is plaster, it will not take very long to completely dry.

Fifth step. The perforated corner and the edge of the drywall strip are in this case the points that you must connect with putty and level with a plaster mixture.

Sixth step. We continue to finish the slopes for the front doors. When the elements that correct the walls are dry, spread the putty (in this case, strictly follow the manufacturer's instructions) to finally get a paste-like mixture.

Seventh step. Using a trowel, throw the resulting mixture on the wall, moving from the floor up. After pouring the desired amount (about 100 centimeters high), smooth the putty using a short rule. As a kind of beacons will serve as a metal corner and previously fixed plasterboard strip.

Step Eight. Throw the mixture into the second section, level it, and then advance in the same way to the very top.

Step Nine. Puttying the upper surface of the opening may cause certain difficulties. So, for putting putty there, you will have to use a wide spatula, and for leveling - all the same short rule. After this, plaster the wall above the opening, then cover the top of the perforated corner with the mixture.

Step ten. Wait until the putty slopes are completely dry. Drying time depends on the composition, as well as the thickness of the leveling layer.

Step eleven. When the layer dries, check how good the surface is. If minor defects remain, clean or chip them. After that, bring the slopes to the extreme evenness, using the finishing putty for this.

Twelfth step. At the end, when the finish coat dries, cover it with a primer.

The slopes that eventually turned out can be pasted over with wallpaper, painted or, as an option, finished using decorative plaster.

Option two. We use drywall for decoration

This material is simpler and easier to use than the plaster described above. However, you still have to use the finishing putty - in this case, it will serve as glue for the gypsum plaster sheets; although instead it is preferable to give preference to special gypsum adhesives that are designed to work just with this material.

In the case of limited space, plasterboard sheets are ideal for finishing slopes. The algorithm of actions in this case should be as follows.

Step one. First of all, separately measure each of the slopes.

Second step. Transfer the resulting numbers to sheets of material, then, working on the markup, cut out the elements for subsequent fastening to the walls.

Third step. Install plasterboard sheets from the bottom of the opening. First, apply several “slides” of glue to the first sheet, as in the image, then firmly press the element to the desired location and additionally fix with pre-prepared supports.

Fourth step. Similarly, trim the side slopes with plasterboard parts, not forgetting to check each of them according to the level. For fixing to the walls, you can use driven dowels, having previously made narrow through holes under them with a puncher.

Fifth step. Just as in the case of using plaster, close the corners with iron corners, using the same putty for fixing.

Sixth step. Lubricate all joints with putty, flatten thoroughly and, when it dries, clean thoroughly so that the finished slopes for entrance doors  looked as attractive as possible.

Seventh step. To get a perfectly even surface, apply a millimeter layer of the finishing putty mixture. So you finally mask all defects and holes for dowels.

Step Eight. When the mixture has completely hardened, you can sand the surfaces with fine sandpaper (if necessary) and, finally, proceed to the decorative design. You can use for this, again, paint, decorative plaster or high-quality wallpaper.

Note! There is another way of attaching drywall - it is advisable in cases where when aligning the slopes it is necessary to close a considerable wall thickness.

  • Fix metal corners or wooden blocks to the slope, thereby forming a crate in order to give the wall the desired direction. The main advantage of this method is that between the elements of the lathing it will be possible to further lay the insulating material.
  • Close the crate with plasterboard sheets, using for fixing with self-tapping screws. Everything else is not much different from the technology described above.

The third option. We use lining or panels

If you intend to use panels made of hard materials in your work (this includes many types of lining, MDF, wood chipboards, etc.), you should know that they are all fastened practically using the same technology. The advantage of this method is that even the most serious irregularities can be hidden with such panels.

As for the specific algorithm of actions, it in this case will look something like this.

Step one. First, ground the slopes, mark the places where the bars or iron profiles will be attached. The step between them should be approximately 30-40 centimeters (if they are mounted across the slopes). In our example, a lining is used, mounted parallel to the box. If a transverse arrangement is required, fasten the crate along the jamb. If the surface is wide enough, you can use not 3, but immediately 3-4 strips.

Second step. The image shows another option - with the installation of the lining parallel to the door leaf.

Third step. You can put heat-insulating material (polystyrene foam, mineral wool, etc.) between the battens of the battens.

Fourth step. Place panels of the selected material over the finished crate.

Fifth step. Use the metal fasteners shown in the image to install the laminated / plastic lining.

Sixth step. For fastening large panels, use self-tapping screws, sinking the latter by 0.15-0.2 centimeters. To seal the resulting holes, you can use putty.

Seventh step. At the end, install decorative corners. They must match the color of the cladding. Glue the corners on the horizontal as well as the outer vertical corners; finally, at the joints of the finishing material and the door frame itself.

Rules for creating vinyl slopes

One of the most modern materials that can be used for finishing slopes, vinyl panels are rightfully considered. They are sold in almost all specialized firms involved in the production and installation of this material. In the case of a non-standard form of slopes, panels can be made to order for you, having previously measured the dimensions.

Finishing can imitate various natural materials, so in any case, you will choose the most suitable option for yourself, regardless of the design of the door and the hallway itself.

Note! The main advantage of such panels is that they are quickly installed, and there is little debris after completion of work. Yes, and this kind of finish looks extremely attractive, neat and stylish.

This material is fixed with universal glue, which is able to reliably connect materials of different properties (for example, brick and lining, concrete and wood, plaster and vinyl). In a word, everything that can be used in the course of finishing and construction works. Also, as an option, the slopes for the entrance doors can be finished with vinyl using polyurethane foam.

Adhesive should be applied to the inner surface of each panel, and then pressed to the slopes. In this case, no holes need to be drilled in the walls or cladding, which can also be attributed to the undeniable advantages of this technology.

Using laminate flooring is a worthy alternative.

Laminate is widely used as a floor covering, it is easy to use and is produced in various color options. Who does not know, a laminate is an MDF panel covered with a special decorative layer. Why is this material so popular? All because he has many important virtues.

  1. It is inexpensive and can be used for various surfaces, including slopes.
  2. Some of its varieties are moisture resistant.
  3. The material looks attractive, and it goes well with other finishing materials.
  4. Laminate has excellent wear resistance. It does not wear off for a long time, in addition, it does not withstand very strong blows.
  5. Finally, the material is made of different types, textures and colors. Therefore, you will definitely choose the most suitable option for yourself.

Note! The operational term of slopes can reach 10 and even 15 years, which, you see, is not so small.

Laminating the slopes with laminate can be done in one of several possible ways. Let's get to know each of them in more detail.

  1. On the glue. In this case, liquid nails or similar formulations may be used. However, the surfaces must first be leveled (using plaster or plasterboard sheets).
  2. Using a wireframe. The most time-consuming method, which, nevertheless, allows you to get extremely smooth slopes without resorting to preparatory alignment of the walls. Also, this method makes it possible to lay a layer of insulating material, which will help to save heat in the apartment.
  3. On mounting foam. The simplest technology that does not need to be pre-aligned. All defects will be eliminated after the mounting foam swells.

Video - Laminate Door Slopes

As for the laying process itself, it - regardless of the particular method chosen - should begin with surface preparation. In our example, the laminate will be attached to glue. The algorithm for the necessary actions is given below.

Step one. First, cover all the gaps and apply a layer of plaster. Do it all on a plaster grid. Later, when the plaster is completely dry, prime the slopes to provide additional protection.

Second step. Here the most important stage of work begins, so get to business with utmost responsibility. You need to make markings and cut the laminate. Start from the top, then proceed to the side surfaces. We recommend cutting the material with an electric jigsaw, although in the absence of such a conventional hacksaw may well come up.

Third step. Before gluing, install mounting spacers - a kind of border, thanks to which the material will not move.

Fourth step. Take the first lamella, attach it to the upper slope, and then open the door - the last should not hook it. Then apply foam on the inner surface of the laminate, press it to the slope and fix it with a masking tape (you can remove it only after it has completely dried). Too much foam should not be applied, because an excessive amount after swelling can lead to displacement of the element.

Fifth step. Install the sidewalls in the same way, regularly using the building level.

Sixth step. Having laid out all the slopes, wait until the mounting foam completely dries and proceed to the final stage of work. Cut off excess foam, plaster openings with plaster. But this is not the end - to slopes for entrance doors  Looked really attractive, cover the openings with a corner of a suitable color.

That's all, now you know about the most popular ways to finish a door slope. We hope the article was really useful for you.
   Good luck in your work and, according to tradition, warm winters!
