Electromechanical gate locks. Installing an electromechanical lock on a gate with your own hands Electromechanical door lock on a door wiring diagram

Electromechanical locks have a wide range of applications. They guard bank premises, office buildings, housing, even gates in the private sector. In addition to the fact that these devices are powered by electricity, they have several unlocking methods, the ability to connect a video monitor. But this should not scare you, it is realistic to connect the electromechanical lock even with your own hands.

Electromechanical locking devices are similar to mechanical ones. They are distinguished by the presence of electrical parts (electric motor or solenoid), which provide blocking of the mechanism, a variety of unblocking methods. Such locks can be opened both with a regular key and by other means - a magnetic card, a remote control or by dialing a combination on a special keyboard. According to the installation method, they are cut-in, overhead:

  1. Overhead. Installed on the inside of the door. Often additional elements are connected with them, for example, an intercom. Usually they are mounted where there is no possibility to make a tie-in.
  2. Mortise. Installed inside the door leaf. They have a more complex design and are therefore considered highly reliable. But usually they are more expensive, and their installation takes longer.

Despite the fact that mainly electromechanical locks are universal, i.e. suitable for any door products (iron, plastic, glass, wood), there are models designed for installation only on certain structures. This point must be clarified before buying.

Principle of operation

When electricity is supplied to the electronic block of the lock, the latch blocking switch is triggered, the crossbars are automatically retracted. In this case, you should pull the handle in time, otherwise the door will close again.

Important: in case of a power outage, the door can only be opened with a key. Or an uninterruptible power supply unit must be installed.

Features of electromechanical locking devices

Electric locks with remote opening methods are common in the private sector. They are installed on gates, wickets, so as not to constantly go out and open the street. And the mechanism, equipped with a small electric motor, will even open the door itself. They are often installed at the entrance doors of the entrances of apartment buildings. Combined with intercoms, they enhance the safety of the occupants.

Considering all the facts described above, a number of advantages of electric locks can be distinguished:

  • simplicity, ease of use;
  • a combination of mechanical and electrical elements that provide additional safety;
  • installation on any door structure;
  • reliability of the mechanism, long service life;
  • remote control that allows you to open doors from a distance;
  • some mechanisms do not make noise when triggered.

The disadvantages include high cost, possible difficulties when connecting the system. But, if you install and configure strictly according to the instructions, using a suitable connection diagram, anyone can handle it.

Preparation for work

On average, the installation process takes 60 to 100 minutes. The main thing is not to rush to do everything correctly and efficiently. It is more difficult to mount a mortise lock, but if you know how to use a grinder, everything should work out.

Several installation requirements

  1. When installing an electromechanical lock, the screws are tightened tightly, otherwise the blows when the blade slams will quickly loosen them. In the future, this will become the reason for re-installation.
  2. After installation, the device is usually tested. If signs of unstable operation or jamming of the lock are detected, it is removed, and the installation is restarted in accordance with all requirements.
  3. If the work is done correctly, but the locking device still does not work, you should contact a professional. This is guaranteed to bring a positive result.

Important: Incorrect installation of the device may impair its functionality.

Required tools and materials

To install the electromechanical locking device, you will need the following tools and consumables:

  • drill, drill;
  • pliers;
  • screwdriver;
  • set of wrenches;
  • insulating agents;
  • Bulgarian;
  • clamps for working with cable;
  • metal wire (3-4 mm in diameter).

How to independently connect an electromechanical lock

There are a number of differences in the methods of installing mortise and overhead locks. Therefore, each should be considered separately.

Installation of the mortise device

This type of lock is installed like this:

  1. Choose a place where the tie-in will be made. You can trace the outline of the castle, but it is easier to use a pre-prepared stencil.
  2. A space for the mechanism is cut out in the canvas, holes for fasteners are drilled.
  3. Insert the body, fix it.
  4. Insert gear.
  5. A place for the striker is prepared, measurements are made on the locking crossbar.
  6. A niche is drilled for a striker, holes for its fastenings.
  7. Fix the striker.
  8. Install the electric lock control unit and other parts.
  9. Check the functionality of the locking device.

Installing the overhead device

Installation of a patch lock is performed as follows:

  1. The mechanism is separated from the body.
  2. Mark the places where the case will be located, the fastening screws.
  3. Drill a hole for the locking mechanism and then for the bolts.
  4. The body is attached to the door leaf, the bolts are tightened tightly.
  5. Use the position of the deadbolt to determine the location of the striker.
  6. Install a striker.
  7. Check the functionality of the device.

Electric lock connection method

An electromechanical lock wiring diagram is usually included in the locking device kit. If it is not there, you should contact the place of purchase. The connection stage is one of the most important. It should be attributed to this with full responsibility.

If there is no combination cable in the kit, you should buy it, having previously learned about the model in the technical documentation. This cable transmits audio and video signals at the same time, which is convenient for connecting, for example, a video intercom. If it is laid in places of high humidity, it is advisable to run it through cable channels.

The standard wiring diagram for an electromechanical lock looks like this:

  1. The lock is connected to the controller with an electric cable.
  2. In the same way, a power supply is connected to the controller, as well as a call button, a card reader, keys.
  3. The power supply is connected to the mains through the nearest junction box.
  4. Check the functionality of the lock.
  5. When connecting the lock together with the intercom, the outdoor panel is connected to the controller. And the answering and calling elements of the intercom are connected to each other.
  1. When buying wires, be aware of the distance between the panel and the monitor. If the distance exceeds 25 m, experts advise using a coaxial cable for sound and video transmission, and a shielded cable for all other connections. To provide power, a ShVVP cable with a cross section of more than 0.75 sq. mm.
  2. It is recommended to insulate and solder all connections during installation - this is a guarantee of uninterrupted long-term operation of the equipment.
  3. The choice of power supply depends on the system requirements of the device.
  4. Any model of an electromechanical lock is suitable for connection with an intercom.

Electromechanical locks are popular for at least two reasons - ease of use and safety. If you have the slightest doubt about the correct installation of the equipment, you should consult with experienced people.

These mechanisms were invented in the last century, and were installed in hotels, banks, research institutes. But in their final modification, they became widespread not so long ago thanks to the active implementation of access control systems (access control and management systems). Today it is difficult to imagine an office or a warehouse, an apartment building that is not equipped with electromagnetic or electromechanical devices. And due to their relatively low cost, they are replacing conventional mechanical locks from the plots of private houses. More and more people prefer convenient and compact locks with a mechanical opening button.

The advantages of electromechanical locks:

    Reliable protection against burglary;

    Possibility of remote control of the device;

    Equipping the set with video and audio intercom communication;

    Ease of controls;

    Affordable price for the buyer.

However, when purchasing such a device, it is worth knowing about its shortcomings and design features. First, a permanent electrical connection will be required. Secondly, at low temperatures and high humidity, locks can malfunction. Thirdly, the locks are equipped with long protruding crossbars, which can be caught by clothing or hit against them. Risks can be minimized if you take responsibility for choosing the lock and entrust its installation to professionals.

Installing an electromechanical door lock

Locks of this type can be installed on wooden and plastic interior doors, steel and armored entrance doors. What type of mechanism to give preference to when installing an electromechanical lock on a door? Conventionally, all locks can be divided into several types, differing in parameters, principle of operation and functionality.

    Placement method: invoice or mortise. In appearance, the devices are indistinguishable from ordinary surface and mortise locks with a key mechanism. The padlock is easier to open forcibly if the power goes out. Access to the mortise lock is difficult, but additional bolts can be installed on it. Also, both models can be connected to audio or video intercom communication. The price of an overhead model is usually slightly less than that of a mortise model.

    Operating principle: motor, electric blocking, solenoid, with electric strike. In motor locks, the mechanism is driven by a miniature motor. For electrically blocking devices, the lock opens when power is applied to it. For solenoid locks, the crossbars move under the influence of electromagnetic fields. The design with electric latches is opened by turning the handle when electricity is supplied to the lock.

    Fail safe: normally open or normally closed locks. Simply put, when the power is turned off, one type of locks will remain closed, and it can only be opened forcibly, while in the other, the bolts of the lock will be pulled in and it will automatically open. The choice in this regard is especially important for enterprises and offices, since only normally open mechanisms must be used to equip emergency exit doors and other passages.

Thus, you need to choose an electromechanical lock based on security rules, the risk of unauthorized entry, your own requirements and considerations. Especially if it will be installed in private property on the leaf of a wicket or gate. Consider the mode of finding people in the house, temperature and humidity features, convenience of remote control of the device.

Before buying a kit, you will need to decide on several important factors, since not every model supports the options you need:

    The presence of day / night modes of operation (during the day, the departure of the bolt is small, and at night - increased). This is the optimal solution for private houses and offices;

    Access type for residents and visitors - electronic keys or cards, coded keypad;

    Do you need to lock the lock button from the inside? This option is necessary for home, if small children often play on the site or there is a dog that can accidentally press a button;

    In what position the crossbars should remain if the power supply is cut off - in extended or retracted (fail-safe);

    Is a small delay in the actuation of the mechanism acceptable (this is typical for motor locks).

Installation of an electromechanical lock on a wicket

Do you need a professional installation of an electromechanical lock on a gate? Our advice: before purchasing the device, consult with the lock installation wizard: if necessary, you can arrange for the operator to visit the site. The location of the castle and the material of the gate - metal or wood - are of great importance. In some cases, the installation site of the mechanism on street gates must be additionally reinforced if the product is not thick enough. When installing, it is necessary to take into account the configuration and protrusion of the locking crossbars, the depth of the groove, the length of the studs holding the lock.

If the lock is equipped with an intercom kit, inform the master about the scope of work in advance and prepare a passport for the purchased device. The set of an intercom with an electromechanical lock includes:

    The castle itself;

    Intercom and display;

    Call panel;

    Backup power supply;

    Depending on the model - an external video camera, video monitor, etc.

For installation, you will also need a cable, a T-shaped corner, mounting clamps. The cable can be laid in the air or underground (in a protective sheath). If the length of the air is more than ten meters, it must be additionally strengthened (for example, with steel wire and staples). The call panel is mounted on the outside of the wicket door: if a video intercom is installed, then it is necessary to additionally check the view of the camera.

If we consider the home security system by individual elements, then the first line that stands in the way of the attacker is Entrance door... The door itself is not an obstacle, therefore a locking device or lock is always installed on it. The electromechanical door lock in all respects is more reliable device than its mechanical predecessor.

Electromechanical lock design

The main element of the door lock, with the exception of the padlock, is the deadbolt. It is a metal plate or cylinder that fits into a groove in the doorframe and prevents the door from opening. By turning the key, the deadbolt is pushed out of the groove and the door can be opened. There may be several crossbars, which increases the reliability of the structure.

An electromechanical lock works on the same principle, only the deadbolt moves not mechanically, but electrically.

There are two modifications of electromechanical locks:

  • Electromagnetic (solenoid)
  • Rotary

Solenoid (electromagnetic) lock

The device of this type of electromechanical lock is quite simple. It consists of a mechanical part and an electromagnet coil. In a solenoid lock, the deadbolt is connected to the core of the electromagnet by means of a rod. In order to open such a lock, it is enough to apply a small constant voltage to the coil winding. The magnetic field of the solenoid will pull the core inside the coil, which, in turn, will pull the bolt out of the groove and the door will open. After the tension is removed, the spring returns the bolt to its original state.

Structurally, such locks can have some differences, for example, there can be two or three crossbars, and the crossbar return mechanism can be implemented according to a different scheme.

The disadvantages of such a lock include a sufficiently large current, which is required for the clear operation of the electromagnet. Most models of electromechanical solenoid locks combine the ability to open the door, both by applying voltage and using a conventional key. This is very convenient in cases when the power supply to the house has been cut off.

Rotary lock

Rotary electromechanical lock is more reliable and more expensive design than solenoid. The principle of operation of this type of lock is based on the use miniature electric motor... In this design, a system of several crossbars is coupled with the rotor of an electric motor, which moves them, opening and closing the door. A gearbox is installed between the electric motor and the bolts, which makes it impossible to squeeze the bolt with any tool. Like the solenoid lock, the rotary device will only open after the control voltage is applied.

Some types of electromechanical locks have in their design not only horizontal, but also vertical ledgers therefore the door locks securely at three points.

The high price and rather lengthy process of unlocking impose certain restrictions on the use of such locks in everyday life.

Electromechanical lock control system

Since the control of the mechanical part of the lock is carried out using an electric drive, it is possible to organize the supply of control voltage and thereby open the door in several ways. Moreover, this can be done directly or remotely.

For this, the following devices are used:

  • Magnetic plastic cards
  • Electronic keys "Touch Memory"
  • Remote controls
  • Fingerprint or iris bioscanners

Such locks, connected to an access control and management system, can be selectively blocked if necessary. The electromagnetic lock control unit is a complex electronic device. Its main task is to unmistakably compare code received by the reader with the code written into the device memory.

The carriers of codes can be cards or electronic keys. When opening the lock using the remote control, the code is encoded in the radio signal. It is also possible to memorize an electromechanical lock or an iris. After the codes match, the control unit controller sends a signal to the power element, which controls the voltage supply to the electromagnet or the motor. As a power element, an electromagnetic or solid-state relay is usually used, as well as thyristors and triacs. The code reader is located on the outside of the door.

In everyday life, the most widespread are electromechanical locks with an electromagnetic drive and the ability to open with an ordinary key.

They are much cheaper and do not depend on the availability of electricity. In this case, all electromechanical locks are connected to an uninterruptible power supply unit.

Power Supply

The power supply for the electromechanical lock is a compact device that is usually mounted on the wall near the front door... Depending on the type of lock, the power supply device provides an output voltage of 12 or 24 volts and a current of 0.7-2.0 amperes. Often there are two voltages in the design, one of which is used to power the electronic circuit of the code reader, and the second to power the solenoid or electric motor. The voltages for electronic components must be stabilized, and the control voltage can be taken from a usually diode rectifier.

The power supply unit is necessarily equipped with an emergency power supply battery and an automatic switch to reserve circuit.

The device provides indication of modes, short circuit protection circuit. An important point is supply voltage to the lock, which is installed on the door leaf. For this, a flexible cable is organized between the power supply and the lock. For him, stranded is most often used ShVVP wire 2 X 0.75 mm, which is laid in a flexible corrugated sleeve. It can be metal or plastic.

The street electromechanical lock is designed for installation on gates leading to the territory of a private household.

Most often, locks with an electromagnet are used for this purpose, since the electric motor and rotor tolerate low temperatures worse.

In addition, the rotary lock with several crossbars provides very high reliability, which is simply not needed on a street wicket.

Power supply it is connected to such a lock via a wire line, which can be laid in a shallow trench, and the power supply is located in the house. Electromechanical locks of the Italian company "CISA" have proven themselves very well. They are distinguished by high reliability, very durable, and their service life reaches 10 years. Such locks can be installed on doors made of any materials, as well as on street gates.

Types of electromechanical locks

According to the method of installation, electromechanical locks are divided into two groups:

  • Overhead locks
  • Mortise locks

Locks of the first type are installed with the inside of the door, and mortise structures are mounted directly into the door leaf. Surface mounted locks have practically no external differences from mechanical locks and can be mounted on any doors. A keyhole is located on the outside of the door leaf, which allows you to open such a lock with an ordinary key.

Surface mounted electromechanical door lock can be installed independently, since it does not require complex installation work.

Electromechanical mortise locks are usually equipped with a rotary drive with an electric motor. Their installation is much more complicated and requires the involvement of an experienced specialist. The connection of the lock consists in correct connection of the power supply, code reader and lock wiring diagram.

The budget for a system with such a lock

Specialty stores have large selection of electromechanical locks different price categories, so it is easy to choose a model that suits the parameters and cost. You can buy a ready-made kit or assemble it from individual components. It does not matter to such a lock which device the supply voltage comes from, therefore it is possible to complete locks with different types of readers and control units.

"CISA" 11630.60.2 is a good example of a lock

The Italian-made electromechanical lock "CISA" 11630.60.2 can work in any control and access control systems that provide a constant supply voltage of 12 V at a current of up to 1.5 A.

The price of such a lock is 4,800 rubles.

A complete set of domestic production will be much cheaper. The 4-ACS system costs 5,600 rubles.

It includes the following elements:

  • Electromechanical lock
  • External magnetic card reader with controller
  • Power Supply
  • 10 magnetic cards

Additionally, a battery and a door closer are purchased.

Conclusion

Modern electromechanical locks are characterized by high reliability, long service life and affordable price. However, these are complex devices that require experience in installation and connection. With self-assembly, even an experienced person can make a mistake. Since the safety of the home largely depends on the correct installation of the electromechanical lock, it is better not to risk it, but to invite a specialist.

We all hope that in our own home we will be comfortable, calm, and most importantly, safe. And therefore, everyone tries to provide the safest living conditions for themselves and their families, using various technical means and, first of all, locks for this purpose.

Electromechanical wicket door lock provides not only safety, but also comfort for the owner, since when using it, there is no need to leave the house every time to open the door - some models allow you to do this remotely.

Electromechanical locks for street wickets are designed to lock gates, including using a control panel
and work as part of the following equipment:

  • intercoms;
  • video on-door speakerphones;
  • code panels.

Such locks combined two systems:

  • mechanical;
  • electric.

What is the principle of operation?

It works like this:

the door closes - the spring is charged - the bolt enters the second part of the structure - voltage is applied - the spring retainer is reset - the locking mechanism opens - the door is locked.

There are, upon opening which you must enter the code.

What are the types

There are two classifications of such locks.

The first is based on design features and placement methods. According to this principle, locks are divided into two types:

  • waybills: The advantage of this model is that the lock can be opened in the event of an unexpected power outage, since the lock has a device for forced opening.
  • mortise: their advantage is that additional bolts can be installed on them and connected to the intercom.

The second way to classify according to the principle of action. According to the way in which the lock mechanism is locked and unlocked, they are divided into four types:

  • electrically blocking: when the lock is closed, the latch enters the groove and the door is blocked, the wicket will open only when the power is supplied to the lock, then the latch releases the spring and the latch is in the body;
  • motor: the mechanism drives a tiny electric motor; pressure is constantly exerted on the latch, therefore, the crossbar cannot be mechanically squeezed out; the advantage of such a system is that it can operate in two modes: day mode, when one bar is involved, and night mode, when all available bars are moved;
  • solenoid: here electromagnetic fields are formed, under the influence of which the crossbar moves; the disadvantage is that the lock is blocked in the event of a power outage;
  • electric strikes: such a latch is opened by turning the handle as soon as electricity is supplied to the latch; the design is convenient in that, if necessary, the wicket can remain open.

The locks are available in two versions:

  • with key locking of the exit button; such a lock should be installed on the site if there are children in the house;
  • without blocking; it will open from the inside simply by pressing a button.

Intercom / Electrophone lock kit

The standard kit with an electromechanical wicket door lock includes:

  • intercom with display;

  • backup power supply.

The kit may include additional equipment:

  • external camera:
  • monitor;
  • GSM set-top box.

Installing the mechanism

How to install an electromechanical lock on a gate? Before proceeding directly with the installation, you should analyze the possible scope of work:

  • examine the gate to decide where the lock can be installed, since there should be no protrusions, chips, and so on in this place.
  • if the gate is wooden, then such locks are installed on a reinforced area, for example, on a transverse beam; the metal wicket must be made of material of sufficient thickness.
  • determine the length of the threaded rods holding the lock; take into account the configuration of the girder and its overhang; the deadbolt should normally fit into the striker or groove.

To install on the gate, you will need the following tools:

  • screwdrivers;
  • spanners;
  • pliers;
  • Bulgarian;
  • drill;
  • drill.
  • cable;
  • insulation tape;
  • mounting clamps;
  • T-shaped corner.

Installation

Installation of an electromechanical lock on a wicket is carried out according to the following points:

  • you should carefully study the instructions so as not to damage some parts of the lock;
  • it is better to fasten the lock to a T-shaped corner;
  • make markings on the door by attaching a lock to it;
  • make holes in the right place;
  • install the lock, securing it with studs and nuts, pull it tightly to the gate;
  • make markings under the crossbar;
  • make holes.

Fastening the cable and installing the video doorphone / doorphone

  • the brand of the cable must be indicated in the passport or be complete with a lock;
  • the length of the cable must be determined by measuring the distance, and add about 15%;
  • the cable is laid from the wicket post to the nearest wall of the house, if the fence is adjacent to the house, then the cable can be laid along it; if you have to lay the cable through the air for more than 10 meters, then it is necessary to strengthen it so that it does not break off by the wind, for this you need to pull the steel wire parallel to the cable and connect them in several places with staples; underground, the cable is laid in a plastic pipe; the cable must not be laid in places of constant accumulation of water;
  • it is better to lay the cable in the house on a surface made of non-combustible material;
  • the calling panel is installed from the outside of the site, while it should be checked that the camera's view is maximal;
  • / intercom is mounted in any place convenient for the owners;
  • from the videophone, the cable runs to the panel, and to the lock from the battery;
  • one of the supply cables is opened by the control contact of the panels, and the other remains free.
