Swedish wall made of wood: a photo review with a detailed description of self-assembly. Wooden Swedish walls with your own hands Drawing of a Swedish wall with your own hands made of metal

A healthy lifestyle is always in fashion. Maintaining it today is quite simple, given the huge number of gyms, among which you can find one that will be closer to home. However, it is not always possible and time to visit them.

A great alternative to a public gym and the ability to maintain physical health without leaving your home is the Swedish wall in the apartment, which you can do with your own hands. In the manufacture and use of a home horizontal bar, you can easily maintain your physical fitness, as well as develop the endurance of the child under home supervision.

Types of Swedish wall designs

In a broad sense, the Swedish wall is a sports complex for home training for an adult and a child. This sports complex can have several varieties:

Do-it-yourself swedish wall

To make a Swedish wall with your own hands, you can use wood or metal. Each of these materials has its own disadvantages and advantages. The Swedish wall wooden organically fits into any interior, it is a light, environmentally friendly design.

Stairs metal more durableable to support the heavy weight of an adult, not to mention the child. But making a Swedish wall with your own hands from metal is quite complicated, and requires minimal welding skills.

Making any swedish wall begins from drawing creation. It will help to visualize the parameters of the stairs, horizontal bar and beams in accordance with the actual dimensions of the room in order to fit the Swedish wall into it.

Necessary calculate the distance correctly  between the racks of the stairs to measure the desired length of the crossbars, and without a drawing it is impossible. In addition, the drawing will help determine the type of fixture, adjust the required dimensions, reflect the correct connection of the wall and the crossbar.

The dimensions of the Swedish staircase should be such as not to touch the floor and ceiling with crossbars. In addition, the dimensions of the stairs in height for the children's Swedish wall and adult, will be different: in the first case, the maximum height should be 2000–2100 mm, in the second - it can reach more than 2300 mm, depending on the ceiling height. The recommended width of the beams is 55 cm, and the crossbars are 110 cm.

How to assemble a Swedish wall from wood

The standard Swedish wooden wall for an adult consists of a ladder and a removable horizontal bar. For the manufacture of stairs you will need the following materials:

The manufacturing process of the stairs is as follows:

  1. A wooden beam is sawn into two identical parts, the ends are rounded with a jigsaw.
  2. Lumber is polished with a planer, a grinder.
  3. On the boards, on the one hand, a distance between the crossbars of 30 cm is indicated. In the same places, holes are made with a thin drill for attaching the crossbars.
  4. In accordance with the drawing, the required crossbar length is determined, usually 60–80 cm.
  5. From the cuttings for shovels, the length determined for the crossbars is cut.
  6. Bars and crossbars are covered with stain, paint or varnish, left to dry completely.
  • where markings were applied on wooden blocks, through holes must be made;
  • glue is applied to the ends of the crossbars, after which they are inserted into the holes;
  • steps and racks are additionally fixed with screws or self-tapping screws.

Remains attach the ladder to the wall  using dowels and metal corners. The removable horizontal bar, which will be mounted on one of the upper rungs of the stairs, can also be made of wood, but it is preferable to use metal for these purposes.

Swedish metal wall

As a rule, a Swedish metal wall is installed on the street. This sports complex may include:

This equipment is individual, and may also consist simply from stairs and horizontal bar. Before you assemble the Swedish wall of metal, you need to prepare the following material:

  • Profile pipe 25 × 25 mm with a total length of six meters in the amount of two pieces.
  • Pipe lengths equal to the number of steps, length 50-60 mm.
  • The sections from the profile pipe, which will serve as reinforcement for the horizontal bar.
  • Metal corners for wall mounting. Mounting a metal staircase can be done not only to the wall. Pipe support parts can be mounted to the ceiling and floor using round washers. However, this method is not suitable for every room.

Rack cut about 2.5 meters long, the remaining segments are welded to them at right angles as external parts. The crossbars are connected to the supporting parts by welding or inserted into pre-cut holes with a step of 30 cm along the length of both pipes. To prevent the bars from twisting inside the holes, their ends are rounded and inserted into the holes until they stop.

So that during the hanging on the horizontal bar the extension parts do not bend under the weight, they are strengthened by welding additional pipe sections, forming a triangle between the stand and the upper part of the extension pipe. After fabrication design primed and painted  for metal.

Swedish wall for children

At the planning stage of making a Swedish wall for children with their own hands, the following nuances must be taken into account:

Collecting a sports ladder is practically no different from assembling an adult horizontal bar. For the manufacture of hanging ropes, rope ladders can be used  - its purchase will cost much cheaper than buying a conventional rope.

As rings you can use bent metal baron which the oxygen hose is put on. The ends of the bar are welded to form rings.

When installing a sports corner in the apartment, you should take into account the following recommendations:

This is the main part of the recommendations during the assembly and operation of the Swedish wall, other measures should be taken individually depending on functionality, the size of the corner and who it is used by - an adult or a child.

The Swedish wall, horizontal bar, bars are indispensable things for playing sports for both adults and children. Despite the large selection of finished products, many prefer to make, for example, a Swedish wall for a child with their own hands. The reason is the high prices for industrial designs, the desire to test one’s strength as a master and create a “sports complex” tailored for oneself. In this article we will talk about inexpensive options for Swedish walls, horizontal bars and beams that any home master can do.

Homemade Swedish metal wall

al_com Member FORUMHOUSE

I have a five year old son. My wife and I wanted to buy him a Swedish wall, but, having looked at prices in stores, we abandoned this venture. Expensive. We decided to buy a used Swedish wall. The price tag is already acceptable, but fastening by surprise, to the ceiling, also does not suit me. Therefore, I decided to make a home-made Swedish wall by welding it from metal.

The user broke the work into a series of sequential steps:

1.   He made a drawing of the Swedish stairs.

  The drawing of the Swedish stairs.

The height of the Swedish staircase depends on the ceiling height in the house or apartment. Important:  the smaller the child’s age, the harder it will be to climb the Swedish stairs if the distance between the steps exceeds 300 mm.

The optimal distance between the steps of the Swedish staircase (along the central axis of the steps) is from 250 to 300 mm, and for very young children 4-5 years old - 200 mm.

2.   Having made a drawing, al_com  cut a pipe with a diameter of half an inch into billets 50 cm long (for steps) and 20 cm (for fasteners).

The pipes were cut with an allowance for further processing on a lathe.

4.   I bought a profile pipe 2.5x2.5 cm on the vertical posts of the Swedish wall, 2000 mm high, and on two horizontal jumpers 1000 mm long.

5.   Welded the Swedish wall in a single design.

I tried to hang on the Swedish wall without fixing it to the wall. Tests have shown that the angle needs to be strengthened. Therefore, I made jibs from a profile pipe 2x2 cm. Then I bought soil, paint, two cylinders of varnish and painted the structure properly.

The next stage is the manufacture of gymnastic rings, a rope ladder and a climbing rope. First, the user went in search of a rope and decided to buy a repshnur in a store where a fire alarm is sold. It turned out that the production is engaged in the manufacture of rope ladders, however, a length of 5 m for 1300 rubles. The user was lucky, and he managed to buy an exhibition model of a rope ladder 2 m long for only 500 rubles.

Homemade rings - made of a metal bar wrapped in electrical tape, and stretched on top of an oxygen hose.

  The ends of the bar of the gymnastic rings are welded.

As a result, I made a budgetary and comfortable Swedish staircase. It remains only to put the rope.

Swedish wooden wall

If there is no metal and access to welding equipment, then the most rational and affordable version of the Swedish staircase is to make it of wood.

  Wooden swedish wall.

Semik User FORUMHOUSE

I have long made a Swedish wooden staircase for my daughters. To do this, it was required - “fifty” boards, shovel cuttings and an electric drill with feather drills. It took more time to process the blanks. He sanded the boards well, burned them with a blowtorch and varnished. It took 10 minutes to assemble the structure.

The burnt board acquires a beautiful texture. Its service life is increased, and also, when firing, the pile burns out, and there will be no need to sand the workpiece with a skin with fine grain.

When making a children's sports complex from wood, it is necessary to carefully process the workpieces, sand the wood, chamfer, etc., so that the baby does not hurt himself and does not set himself a splinter.

An interesting version of the Swedish wall from Yuri Nosov (nickname on the portal Uvik).

Children love outdoor games, climb, play pranks. The Swedish staircase will direct this energy in the right direction. To make it, I needed a board with a cross section of 10x2 cm, a length of about 4000 mm. Shanks for broom 4 pcs., Length 1200 mm. Saw, drill, grinder. “Liquid nails” for wood and 2 hours of free time on weekends.

  • First, the user cut the board into two parts.
  • Then he marked the holes for the crossbars.

The holes were drilled with a pen drill.

Life hack from Yuri Nosov - if you combine two boards with clamps, you will only have to mark the blanks once, and the holes will be exactly opposite each other.

In order to make the edges of the hole even, it is necessary to put a piece of the board under the drilling site.

The result is two boards with holes for the crossbars.

Ready-made shovel or rake cuttings are most often used in the manufacture of Swedish stairs.

  • The boards were brought to mind by a sander, and the chamfers were removed at the corners.
  • Then they cut the required number of crossbars and, using liquid nails, fixed them in the holes of the vertical posts.

Also, the user made a horizontal bar against the Swedish wall, taking for this four trimming boards 250 mm long, having drilled holes for the crossbar in two of them. The joints of the boards were coated with glue. At the finish of the work, the Swedish staircase was varnished and fastened to the corners on the wall.

The budget for a homemade Swedish staircase was 1,000 rubles.

Having gained experience, the user made different versions of the Swedish stairs.

And children's sports corners.

In the footsteps Uvikwent   Edmon74and made a Swedish wall in the apartment for a four-year-old child.

Parameters of the Swedish stairs:

  • support height - 2 m + inserts;
  • board section - 140x25 mm;
  • the center distance between the steps is 200 mm.

The Swedish wall is planned to be equipped with gymnastic rings and a horizontal bar.

Adjustable bars and horizontal bar for the Swedish ladder

You can significantly expand the functionality of the Swedish staircase if you make a removable horizontal bar and bars for it. Moreover, depending on the design, both adults and children will be able to engage in such a sports complex.

Uvik

The design of the removable horizontal bar for the Swedish staircase is clearly visible in the photo below. I did it for a child weighing 30 kg, but the horizontal bar can easily withstand a weight of 60 kg.

Caring for the younger generation includes the physical side of education. Regular sports exercises strengthen children's bodies, develop strength and endurance in them, and also allow you to lose excess energy. The area of \u200b\u200bthe children's room is not suitable for the installation of large sports complexes, and their price is too high. An elegant solution to the problem will be a Swedish wall made by yourself. It takes up little space, is easily made independently, and requires little investment in materials and time.

You can make a sports equipment from two types: wood or metal. Each has its own advantages. The Swedish wooden wall is made of natural materials, easily and organically fits into the design of the premises, the production takes little time. The metal product is much stronger and can withstand the weight of even several children or adults. But it requires skills of working with a welding machine, which is not accessible to everyone.

Sports walls are wooden and metal

Regardless of the material chosen, at the initial stage of construction it is necessary to prepare drawings of the future projectile. This will help to calculate the correct parameters, because the height of a standard apartment does not exceed 2.7 m. In addition, in the drawing it is necessary to take into account the distance between two racks in order to correctly measure the crossbars. Take into account the dimensions of the future sports equipment in order to fit it into an existing interior. The drawings will help determine the correct connection of the wall and the crossbar, adjust the dimensions, and outline the fasteners.

The dimensions of the wall should be such that it does not touch the floor in case of laying the carpet or carpet. From above, it also should not touch the ceiling, so that it would be easy to remove the crossbar for hanging. Height should be safe for children.

Wooden sports equipment

The Swedish wall do-it-yourself will require the following materials for manufacturing:

  • board more than 4 m in length; about 2 cm thick and 10 cm wide;
  • shanks for shovels or brooms 4 pcs. 120 cm each;
  • set of tools;
  • glue or liquid nails for wood;
  • wood screws.

The Swedish wall is just perfect for home workouts.

Preparation of racks and crossbars

The board is cut in half, measuring the desired length of the rack. The ends of the bars are rounded with a jigsaw, sawing off the excess. Initially polished with a planer, then treated with sandpaper or a grinding machine. Measure the distance for future rungs (approximately 30 cm), mark the locations of the holes with a thin drill.

The preparation of the crossbeams begins with the determination of their length. Usually it is 60 cm, so the cuttings are cut in half. If they were not sanded at the factory, you will have to carry out this process yourself. Any roughness and chipping of wood products can turn into a splinter in the hands in the future. The bars and beams are treated with stain, then varnished or painted, depending on the desired appearance.

Drawing of a sports ladder with a hinged wooden beam

Construction collection

After drying, holes are made in the bars. To do this, use either a feather of the desired diameter or a crown as a nozzle on a drill. The hole should be made blind, so that it remains possible to further strengthen the steps with screws and glue. Also, the flat surface of the rack, without traces of recesses, has a more aesthetic appearance. Then the structure is assembled together: the ends of the crossbars are treated with glue, inserted into one rack, then the second is fixed on top. Additional fastenings are provided with self-tapping screws, connecting them to the stand and step.

Mounting to the wall is carried out using metal corners. For this, holes are planned at the desired height, being guided by the building level. Select the dowels of the required sizes and parameters, and fix the staircase to the wall.

Making a removable crossbar

Removable horizontal bars are made in several versions: they cut whole sidewalls; assembled from two slats, connecting them at an angle; welded from metal pipes, bending the ends into hooks. . If it is possible to make blanks on a milling machine, or the manufacturer has the skills of figured cutting with a jigsaw, then it will not be difficult to cut the necessary parts from dense plywood (more than 18 mm). You will need to make two identical sidewalls of a triangular or smooth "G" -shaped shape with cut out hooks, with which the horizontal bar is caught on the crossbar.

The distance between the hooks should be taken into account, it should correspond to the gap between the crossbars. The rear sides are fastened with a strip of plywood, the size of which is slightly smaller than the length of the crossbars. This is necessary for strong insertion of the crossbars in the grooves, without interference from the side racks.

At the end of the protruding part of the sidewalls, holes are prepared and the crossbar is inserted, strengthening it with self-tapping screws. It should be noted that such a design is designed primarily for the weight of the child: for an adult it is more reasonable to make a removable horizontal bar from metal.

Wide grip attachments

Swedish metal wall

Do-it-yourself metal Swedish wall is not so easy to manufacture. She will require less preparatory work if the materials are purchased in the store. Purchased pipes do not need to be cleaned of old paint and rust. For the manufacture of take:

  • two square profile pipes 25 × 25mm, with a total length of 6 m;
  • pieces of half-inch pipes with a length of 50-60 cm, the number of the estimated number of steps;
  • pieces of profile pipes to strengthen the horizontal bar, the dimensions are determined based on the length of the remote part;
  • corners for wall mounting.

Racks are cut at a given height of the projectile, about 2.5 m, the remains of the pipes are used for remote parts, welding them to the top of the racks at an angle of 90 °. By welding, the crossbars are connected to the posts, making sure that the metal sets thoroughly, and not the top layer.

The metal sports wall can be supplemented with hinged bars, bar stops and press benches

Then it is necessary to make fortifications so that when hanging on the horizontal bar, the extension part does not bend down. To do this, measure the length between the end point of the upper remote part and the rack so that the reinforcement forms the third side of the triangle. Pipes of the right size are cut, not forgetting the machining allowances. Strengthen the welds on both racks of the Swedish wall. Along the entire length of the uprights, pipe trunks with nuts are welded on the rear side, with which the equipment will be mounted on the wall. Primer the surface and cover with paint and varnish.

The Swedish wall with your own hands is quite easy to manufacture. Its undeniable advantage is the availability and low price. It helps to save space in the apartment, providing children and adults with a shell for maintaining physical fitness.

The Swedish wall can be made more diverse by equipping it with a rope or rings. It is a good alternative to bulky sports simulators, and is suitable for working on the muscles of the whole body.

The prototype of the Swedish wall is the usual household staircase. Finnish peasants came up with it, and it got its name because Finland was then under the rule of Sweden. But this is not the point of how important. It is important that even the simplest exercises on the Swedish wall (see the figure below) can completely avoid health disorders due to a sedentary lifestyle. Only the Scandinavians could think of such a use of the stairs: the winters in Fennoscandia are long and severe. The land is not fertile, the agricultural season is short, and then there are exorbitant taxes. Without winter utility trades, you can’t survive at all. It was not possible to lay down on a stove in the winter, and yawn and stretch for a long time in the spring before harnessing Sivka-Burka.

The simplest exercises on the Swedish wall

The conditions of modern urban life impose approximately the same requirements on the physical condition of people, but for different reasons. And the Swedish wall with your own hands is not a difficult product; there are options that can be made at home in 2-3 hours, see below. But the Swedish wall is still a sports equipment, not a household equipment or household utensils, so you need to do it in compliance with certain, albeit simple, rules. Which - this is stated in this publication.

Primary requirements

For simple exercises on the Swedish wall, you can attach an ordinary staircase to an eave or ceiling beam, as the Finns of the old time did. But the Swedish wall for an expanded and complete set of physical exercises is already arranged differently.

The dimensions of the sports and fitness Swedish wall should be as follows:

  1. Span on the crossbars (crossbar length) - 800-900 mm;
  2. For home and children's Swedish walls with a lack of space in the room, it is allowed to reduce the length of the crossbars to 600 mm;
  3. The distance between the axles of the crossbars in height - 150 mm;
  4. If only a limited circle of adults will be engaged on the wall, the distance between the axles of the crossbars in height can be increased to 220-260 mm according to the user's complexion. The range of 150-220 mm anatomically and physiologically “deaf”, it will be inconvenient to engage;
  5. The crossbar diameter is 40 mm for adults and 24-30 mm for children of different ages (for more details see materials on the device of a home sports corner);
  6. The distance of the lower crossbar from the floor is 150-220 mm;
  7. The number of crossbars - 12-18 for adults and 10-15 for children;

Even with the most simple exercises at a slow pace, sports equipment has dynamic loads that are much higher than the weight of those involved.  Static loads from children are less, and dynamic loads relative to the child’s body weight are greater than from adults. Therefore, the Swedish wall for a full range of adult exercises should be able to withstand for 20 minutes without breaking its own design and fastening to building structures a load suspended in the middle of any of the crossbars (or, when commissioning and annual inspection, to all in turn) a load weighing:

  • 180 kg - for the full range of regular exercises by adults in 2-3 or more shifts daily.
  • 150 kg - home or for children's sports.
  • 120 kg - children's home.

Almost like an ancestor

Technologically, the Swedish wall can be made of wood, metal and durable plastic. It’s nice to tackle the wooden one. Steel is more suitable for an enhanced set of exercises with emphasis, see below. Plastic - for children of preschool and primary school age. Let's start with the Swedish wall made of wood, as the least time-consuming and versatile.

Drawings of a typical Swedish wooden wall are given in pos. 1 pic. Cuttings for garden tools made of oak, beech, hornbeam, etc. will go to the crossbars. solid dense fine-grained wood without defects. Since they are not always exactly round in shape, it is necessary in any carpentry workshop with a lathe or in a metal turning to grind the ends of cuttings cut to size up to a diameter of 35 mm (pos. 2). Groove length - 20 mm; the same is the depth of the hole. This will allow you to choose the holes for cuttings in bowstrings by the most common Forstner furniture drill, the so-called. looped (but see also below).

On the bowstrings (sidewalls) of the home Swedish wall, an ordinary drill board will fit without defects, weakening its overall strength. Valid oblique without rot and mold, small captive knots. Mounting the crossbars - at the end by a self-tapping screw or confirm (furniture screw) 6x80 (item 3). It is highly advisable immediately after drilling holes for metal fasteners, but before installing it, glue the PVA parts without holding them to tack, this will greatly increase the overall strength and reliability of the wall, see below. That is: we collect the wall dry, tighten it with something, with a rope, for example, drill installation holes for the hardware, disassemble everything, put it on the joints of the PVA, assemble it, tighten it with steel. While the glue has not dried up, we check and correct the general evenness along the horizon (so that the “propeller” does not work out).

We'll talk about securing the projectile tightly later, but in general a typical Swedish wall is strong enough by itself and with the help of steel hooks 40x4 or 30x4 (pos. 4) can be suspended on a cross-arm installed between the walls (bar, pos. 5) or a low (flat) U-shaped bracket from a pipe from 40x2. To the bracket you need to weld the “five-copeck” glides, each under 3-4 self-tapping screws of 6-8 mm in propylene dowels. It is impossible to block the ends of the supporting bracket into the wall! Shakes necessarily! Assembly - lying on props with alignment in a plane and horizon on a dry or, better, on a plasma - flat, covered with a film surface. Deepening of the steel part of the hardware in the supporting wall (in addition to the thickness of the finish):

  • In concrete - from 60 mm.
  • In a brick - from 70 mm.
  • In wood - from 90 mm.

Details and options

The most seemingly not home operation - the groove of the ends of the crossbars - in fact, usually does not cause difficulties. In any tool store or at the iron bazaar, they will tell you where there is a turner nearby, where inexpensive crossbars will be turned on before your eyes. Perhaps the seller himself will do it. Much more difficulties arise when searching for material for bowstrings and choosing the method of attaching the projectile to the supporting structures. Also - how to put on the wall a hinged gymnastic bar (horizontal bar) and handrails for exercises on an emphasis with hands (they are often called an emphasis, a manual emphasis or, more rarely, half-bars). The emphasis and horizontal bar became indispensable accessories of a home Swedish wall; often make it an integral part.

Bowstrings

An ordinary combat board for bowstrings of the Swedish wall will not work without a choice: it is not designed for such a large number of points of concentrated load. The seller will either choose or not, and most likely there will be nothing to choose from: the lumber of the highest standard (and this is needed for sports equipment) is selected already when sawing by the manufacturer and goes on sale at a price several times more expensive. Glue plywood bowstrings? It is laborious and not cheaper at all - plywood is also expensive compared to commercial wood.

However, there is a way to harden the cheap packaging plywood to the extent necessary. He also allows you to make bowstrings of the Swedish wall from completely waste its waste. Labor for pasting will have to be spent no less, but the costs will hardly turn out more than for the purchase of ordinary boards. And the strength of the finished product will be greater than that of selected higher quality.

This method is the preliminary impregnation of plywood blanks with a water-polymer emulsion (VPE). This inexpensive, harmless, safe and easy to use material completely eliminates the delamination of the crappiest plywood and increases its strength several times. In addition, there is no need for an expensive and narrowly specialized Forstner drill - all holes are through, they can be drilled with a hand drill using an ordinary pen drill on wood. 3-4 liters of VPE will suffice on the Swedish wall in excess.

For the wall on which adults regularly engage, the thickness of the internal parts of the bowstrings needs to be increased to 28-32 mm; then all layers can be assembled from pieces fitted back to back. The complete assembly plan is as follows:

  1. Crossbeams are prepared (see above);
  2. Prepare a plaz;
  3. Prepare goods for oppression;
  4. Chop and adjust the pieces for the internal parts. Do not forget to number or mark which one fits with which;
  5. All blanks are impregnated with VPE from 2 sides;
  6. Billets immediately, without waiting for complete drying, lay in layers on a plaz and glued;
  7. Having laid and aligned the pieces of the first layer, they are applied to not and to the counter surfaces of the pieces of the next PVA;
  8. Without waiting for the glue to dry before tacking, lay the 2nd layer on the first;
  9. Repeat paragraphs. 7 and 8, until the workpiece of the desired thickness is typed;
  10. They put on the workpiece oppression - at least 5-6 loads of 2 kg evenly along the length;
  11. The ends of the ribs of the workpiece are trimmed with a metal square, the “crawling” pieces are corrected;
  12. According to paragraphs 4-11 re-stick the blank of the second string;
  13. After 3-4 days (for drying workpieces), drill holes are drilled under the crossbars;
  14. Prepare the outer linings of the bowstrings (impregnated with VPE), paste them under the yoke on the inside and fasten the entire package with small screws (indent from the edges of the bowstring - 20-25 mm);
  15. Collect the shell dry and drill installation holes for the fasteners of the crossbars;
  16. They smear the nests under the PVA crossbeams and collect the shell on the plaza, without waiting for the glue to dry;
  17. Align the structure in a plane (eliminate the "propeller" if one is found) and fasten with 6x45 self-tapping screws for the children's wall in Fig. or 6x60 for an adult;
  18. Dry the wall lying on the plaza for 5-7 days. It is highly desirable to load in the corners, so as not to lead.

Typing Option

Another option of a convenient and rather economical, although rather laborious, Swedish wall into an apartment is a collapsible combined in the doorway: bowstrings from a regular drill board or 15 mm plywood, steel crossbars from pipes, cross-bar earrings - oak, beech, hornbeam.

Drawings of a collapsible Swedish wall in the doorway are given in the figure:

Since the attachment points to the supporting structure are already 32, the fasteners are small, 3 mm screws; their penetration into the door jamb - from 20 mm. The crossbars are necessarily steel: wooden, not included in the general power circuit, will not stand. Fixing the earrings on the crossbars - screw M4-M6 with heads flush. The diameter of the parts of the crossbars under the grab by adults can be increased by putting plastic shells on them, e.g. from 2-3 layers of a heat-shrinkable tube (HERE); this will also increase the roughness of the crossbars to “wooden”.

The advantage of this Swedish wall is that having removed part of the crossbeams, you can perform exercises with a wide swing of the legs. Disadvantages - during the exercise, the passage is blocked, the door jamb and the appearance of the opening deteriorate. In addition, it is impossible to obtain the optimal step of the crossbars in height of 150 mm, and 240 mm is close to the maximum permissible.

Horizontal bar and emphasis

A simple crossbar for pulling up and keeping the angle with your feet on the weight significantly expands the functionality of the Swedish wall. A children's Swedish wall without a horizontal bar generally loses most of its developing qualities. A simple wall-ladder can be easily supplemented with a hinged crossbar holder for pulling up and other static exercises (without sudden movements).

Drawings of the Swedish wall with a wooden hinged horizontal bar holder are given in Fig. (the upper bracket of the holder is in the upper right; lower - in the same place below).

Other versions of the hinged horizontal bar and manual stop for the Swedish wall are shown on the following. Figure:

Manual emphasis allows you to engage on the Swedish wall is already very experienced and physically developed users, pos. 4 and 5. For a wooden hinged stop, you need to take a tree of especially strong species that is ideally homogeneous without defects: teak, etc. The dimensions of the palm rest hinged on the Swedish wall are given on the right in Fig.

However, the most functional hand stops combined with the crossbar, see another figure:

The main structural materials of the bearing parts are a 40x2 pipe, a professional pipe 60x60x2. For jibs, couplers and blades of union grippers - a professional pipe 60x (20-30) x1.5 or (on the right) a pipe 20x1.5. For hooks there is also a 30x6 strip. "Cape" on the Swedish wall on the right in fig. the most functional, but they don’t certify this for a general-use sports equipment: hooks in the area of \u200b\u200bthe practitioner's trauma are dangerous.

  Note:  removal of the horizontal bar crossbeam - 60-65 cm.

A stationary (attached tightly) horizontal bar on the Swedish wall is required for moderate tension or intensive adult activities, especially since it does not interfere with children using the hinged horizontal bar, and adults with a palm rest. However, in this case, attaching the horizontal bar consoles (the brackets holding the crossbar) with 3 or 4 bolts (pos. 1 and 2 below in the figure) is a gross error, as well as parts made of clearly defective wood (shown by red arrows in pos. . 2). Fixing with a square is permissible if the bolt sockets are screw-through, and the shell parts are made of high-quality glued solid wood, pos. 3. In any other case, the centrally-symmetrical fastening, if the permissible load is exceeded or from fatigue, can be destroyed "all of a sudden."

It is most correct to attach a stationary horizontal bar to the Swedish wall on kerchiefs made of plywood 24-32 mm thick. The kerchiefs are attached to the bowstrings with at least 4 through bolts M10-M12, pos. 4. Kerchiefs can be glued from plywood as described above. If the layers of the workpiece are at least 4 (plywood 6 mm), then the pieces for the assembly of layers are suitable from approx. 100x150 mm. The main thing is that the seams in the layers do not coincide in parallel converge no closer than 5 thicknesses of plywood.

The fixing of direct consoles from high-quality wood with a wedge with 5 bolts is somewhat less reliable. It shakes rather than a scarf, but it is not capable of sudden destruction: it shakes first, which will be noticeable.

Swedish metal wall

On the Swedish metal wall, it is recommended that people be strong and have mastered fairly complex exercises (see the end). Their palms are more powerful than those of beginners, and advanced users create large loads. In this case, the step of installing the crossbars in height is taken closer to the maximum possible in accordance with their anthropometry.

Drawings of 2 variants of the Swedish wall made of metal (mainly male and female) are given in rice; the dimensions of the "female" on the right are in cm.

Bowstrings and consoles of the crossbar here and there - professional pipe 80х40х3. Crossbeams - 40x2 pipe. Spacers - “legs” for attaching to the wall - 40x40x2 professional pipe. It would not hurt to make struts for the consoles of the right version from the same pipe: then it will be possible to cook by conventional welding with a consumable electrode from a portable welding machine.

Wall mount

It is wrong to fix the Swedish wall to the wall with steel corners and self-tapping screws, as amateur craftsmen often do.  Once one corner breaks off from the fatigue of the metal (which is most likely just during classes), as the entire mount can break off at once. Fastening of an adult Swedish wall to a load-bearing wall is possible at 4 or 6 points. It is desirable to fix the nursery in 2 points, see below.

At 4 points, the Swedish wall is fixed with thrust bearings for 3-4 self-tapping screws in the dowels each, see above. This mount is mainly for people of small weight (up to 70 kg). The lower pair of thrust bearings is located in the middle between the first and second crossbars, and the upper - between the 2nd and 3rd from above.

When attaching to 6 points, the lower two are located closer to the floor, but not less than 0.75 times the width of the bowstring from its lower edge. If, say, a bowstring is 150 mm wide, then the distance of the lower attachment points from the floor is 100 mm. The upper points are marked in the middle between the last and the penultimate crossbars, and the middle points are in the middle between the lower and upper, but so that they fall in the middle of the distance between the crossbars.

The Swedish wall with 6 points is fastened, as a rule, with anchor bolts from M10, but with a diameter along the body of the bolt not more than 1/3 of the thickness of the bowstring and not more than 1/2 of its thickness under the head with the washer. For bolts with washers in wooden bowstrings, step through holes are drilled. The depth of the larger hole (under the head) is half the width of the bowstring. In steel bowstrings, drill even holes for the body of the bolt. Deepening anchors in the bearing wall (in addition to the thickness of the finish):

  • In concrete - from 100 mm.
  • In a brick - from 110 mm.
  • In wood - from 130 mm.

For kids

It has already been said above that the static loads from children on the Swedish wall are low, but dynamic children are capable of creating incredible ones. And they climb on the wall all together, and even fight on it. At the same time, the height of the children's Swedish wall is rather small, 140-160 cm. Accordingly, the shoulder of the lever tending to tear the shell away from the wall will also be smaller.

The second is that children grow up. When the baby outgrows the wall, it will need to be replaced with a “real” wall or removed. It is highly advisable that in this case, the repair of the children's room is not needed or a minimum is needed. And at the same time, the children's Swedish wall, while in use, should stand in its place like a glove, no matter what its owners do on it.

Based on all this, the Swedish wall for children needs to be fixed tightly in 2 points in the load-bearing wall. How to ensure sustainability? In two ways: by spreading between the wall and the upper fixture or point blank at the dead point between the wall and the floor. In the latter case, the upper fastener serves only as clamps (stoppers) that hold the projectile from tipping over. Which does not reduce the requirements for its reliability.

Note:  an alternative is the Swedish wall for children, actively absorbing dynamic loads, see below.

At disposal

To fasten the children's Swedish wall in the strut, the elasticity of the structure is used. In this case, the bowstrings should be straight, strong and stable in the transverse directions, i.e. thick enough: wooden with a thickness of 30 mm; glued plywood - from 24 mm.

The installation procedure is as follows:

  1. hard liners 3-4 mm thick are temporarily attached to the heels of the bowstring;
  2. the projectile is placed tightly on the floor at the installation site;
  3. on the load-bearing wall, in place, holes for self-tapping screws in the dowels are marked, see above;
  4. the heel pads are removed and the wall is attached to the wall. Her heels will be hanging in the air;
  5. microporous rubber thrust bearings are prepared stiffer 2 mm thicker than the thickness of the temporary gaskets;
  6. one person with a pair of mounts picks up the lower bar at the very bowstring and pushes the projectile up (pos. 4 in the figure);
  7. the assistant lubricates the rubber thrust bearings with mounting glue and palms it under the hanging heels of the bowstring;
  8. the first worker takes the pressure off the tire.

After an hour and a half, it is unlikely that a physically strong adult will be able to move or disrupt the projectile.

Point blank

The fastening of the children's Swedish wall in focus at 2 points proved to be more reliable than fastening in the spacer. It does not require an assistant to perform, less spoils the bearing wall and floor, and also allows you to give the shell a playful look. Fastening in an emphasis acts on the principle of a lever jammed at a dead center. Therefore, its upper attachment points must be absolutely rigid in all 3 planes, and the bowstrings are somewhat curved. Thickness of board bowstrings from 24 mm; impregnated plywood VPE from 16 mm, i.e. plywood bowstrings can be solid not glued.

The reliability conditions of this method of fastening, firstly, the supporting surfaces should fit into a right angle (highlighted in red in the figure below). To make the wall and floor less rubbed, thin silicone gaskets are glued to the supporting surfaces (rubber leaves marks). Secondly, the socks of the heels of the bowstring should protrude forward not less than at a distance equal to the distance of the axes of the crossbars from the supporting wall. If novice athletes are already very quick and frisky, it is better to put the heels of the heels forward half the removal of the horizontal bar or more, i.e. 25-30 cm. Third: fastening to the wall - with anchor bolts from M8. Laying anchors in the wall from 80 mm, from 90 mm and from 100 mm for concrete, brick and wood, respectively.

However, take a closer look at what's on the right in fig. The similarity is only external, but the power circuit is completely different. Due to the inevitably occurring backlash on the mounting brackets, “ears” to the bowstrings, such a projectile should be fastened to the wall at 4 points, which is less reliable and spoils its appearance.

Self-absorption

The Swedish wall made of plastic for adults is a very, very dubious issue. Household plastics hold static loads poorly and get tired of them quickly. Special (eg carbon fiber carbon) are very expensive and overloaded prone to sudden destruction. But the children's Swedish wall made of polyisopropylene (simply - propylene) is a very good solution, because propylene perfectly absorbs dynamic loads. Only fasten the propylene children's Swedish wall to the wall as an adult, at 3 or 4 points on the M6-M8 anchors with 90, 100 or 120 mm laid in the wall for concrete, brick and wood. How to assemble a Swedish wall from soldered propylene water pipes, see next. plot.

This is the most necessary set for a full workout at home. This complex will be useful to those who have small children, as Climbing stairs is the prevention of flat feet. You can also understaff a cotton climbing rope, a hinged ladder, rings for children, parallel bars and other sports equipment.

To make the Swedish wall with your own hands, you must have a minimum number of tools (grinder, tape measure, welding machine, etc.) and detailed drawings. Anyone who has a garage with tools can easily make a Swedish wall with their own hands.

I made this package collapsible, so that in case of moving or forwarding the package would occupy the minimum amount of space. The largest element has a length of not more than 1.6m. The weight of the whole complex was 42 kg, if you use wooden bars, then the weight can be significantly reduced.

The fastening of the Swedish wall is carried out in two ways: to the wall with dowels through the plate and with a thrust into the ceiling. This equipment is designed for a ceiling height of 2.5m. You can adjust the height according to your ceiling height.

Horizontal bar reinforced wide grip. The horizontal bar is designed for a load of 120 kg.
