How to make a corner table. How to make a computer desk with your own hands quickly and without cost

A few years ago, having a computer was considered a luxury. Many children dreamed of having such a car at home. If we talk about our time, almost every apartment has a desktop computer - this is normal and even necessary. Since you often have to sit at the computer, especially if your work is connected to the Internet, it is important to make sure that it has a suitable place that is comfortable and functional.

Often a regular desk or even a sofa serves as a table for a computer or laptop. But for the convenience of work and the preservation of your health, you need a special table that will be an excellent addition to the design of the apartment. This article will help you find out , how to make a computer desk with your own hands (at home). We will also demonstrate drawings, photo and video instructions.

First of all, you need to decide what kind of table you need and what it will serve for. To understand what kind of table is needed - large or small - the list of components of the system will help, which includes:

  • system unit;
  • monitor;
  • keyboard;
  • mouse.

In addition to the basic equipment, you should take into account speakers, cords, modem, printer, scanner and other devices that you will use in your work. Consider whether you will make shelves, if so, how much.

An important point is the material from which the table will be made. Most often, chipboard sheets are used - this is an inexpensive and, at the same time, reliable material.

Choosing a place should also take a lot of time. It is clear that the less space is occupied by the table, the freer the apartment. But do not overdo it, if the table is too small, it will not be able to perform its multifunctional work.

The obligatory conditions of the placement rules are:

  1. Access to the mains (sockets, preferably with grounding).
  2. The presence of windows through which natural light will flow. It would be nice to organize the space so that the light comes from the left side of the computer.
  3. The absence of nearby heating devices (batteries, fireplaces, electric heaters). This is done so that the equipment does not overheat.
  4. Shelves, paintings and other decorative elements will also interfere, but they can be removed.

The next step after a specific room and location is chosen is the design of the product itself. Before making a drawing, you need to select the type of table. He might be:

  • straight;
  • angular;
  • combined.

By choosing the most suitable type of table, you can equip the workplace most comfortably and at minimal cost. Moreover, it depends on how quickly you collect it.

straight table

The straight table is a classic. You can compare it with a simple desk. This option is suitable if you use a computer periodically or for professional work that requires concentration and attention. The presence of direct space along the wall with a window allows you to choose this option.

Corner - for people who sit for hours near the monitor. The material for such a design will be the least, and it will not take up much space. But for important work, such a table is not suitable. Firstly, there is not enough space, which means that papers, stationery or other personal tools will constantly get in the way.

The table in the corner puts pressure on the human psyche. This fact has been proven by psychologists, so corner structures are strictly prohibited in offices.

Combination table

A combo table is something in between options 1 and 2. This design is ideal, but takes up a lot of space. The presence of shelves and bedside tables allows you to store personal items, documents and folders so that they do not interfere, but are at hand.

So, having dealt with all the theoretical points, you can begin to manufacture the structure at home. The first step is to calculate the height of the table. The average height of a standard design is 75 cm. But if your height is above average, there is a formula that allows you to calculate the height correctly:

Height×75/175

Suppose your height is 180 cm. If you apply the formula, you get:

180×75/175=77 cm

The next step is to make drawings. Remember, the quality of the finished product and the amount of time and effort expended depend on how clearly and accurately you make the drawing. Give him enough attention. Here is an example of a simple design that can easily be done at home.

This classic version is easy to manufacture and its construction does not require a lot of material. The design has the following parts:

  • place under the monitor;
  • sliding shelf under the keyboard;
  • a small shelf for storing any little things;
  • cabinet for papers, personal belongings and other items with drawers;
  • two shelves on top, serving for books, flowerpots or a speaker system.

As you can see, there is a place for all the components of a computer system, the main thing is to place everything correctly.

Having collected all the necessary tools, you can get to work. You will need this kit:

  1. Jigsaw or hacksaw.
  2. Drill and drills.
  3. Screwdriver or screwdriver.
  4. Grinding machine. If your place of work will be directly in the apartment, take care to remove carpets and other things. A vacuum cleaner is required to collect all the debris.
  5. Chisel.
  6. A simple pencil (it is better to take a soft one, it is better visible on wood), a ruler and a tape measure. The size of the roulette is more than 1m.

On this preparatory work is over, you can get to work.

Since when cutting chipboard sheets on your own, you may get uneven edges and chips, it is better to take the drawing you like and order cutting material at a furniture factory. There they will be able to glue the edges. Below are drawings and diagrams of complex structures. You just have to collect all the details yourself.

To bring the project to life, you will need the following details:

  • side posts, size 735 × 465 mm, 2 pcs.;
  • central post, size 735×380 mm, 1 piece;
  • tabletop size 1200×580 mm, 1 piece;
  • rear wall, size 1090 × 290 mm, 1 pc.;
  • retractable keyboard stand, size 830×380 mm, 1 pc.;
  • internal shelves, size 450×250 mm, 2 pcs.

So, when all the details are cut out, you can easily assemble such a straight computer table. Here are the stages of work:

  1. In the side and central wall you need to make holes for the bottom shelf. Measure 50–70 mm from below and draw a horizontal line with a pencil. In that place you need to make two parallel holes. You should get 2 holes in the side wall and 2 in the center. Now secure the shelf with confirmations (you can use self-tapping screws).
  2. The same must be done for the top shelf, but the distance from the beginning of the board to the shelf should be 100 mm or more, depending on the desired size of the shelf. Measure, draw a line and make holes. Attach the top shelf.
  3. After that, you need to fix the back wall. It should be placed flush with the upper end of the side and central walls. Then you need to outline the holes and screw the wall.
  4. Then you need to connect the second side wall to the back. To do this, make 2 holes in the back panel and screw it to the sidewall using confirmations.
  5. Now it's time to attach the guide rail. From the top of the side and central walls, it is necessary to measure 50 mm and make straight lines. After marking, fasten them.
  6. Next, on the shelf for the keyboard itself, you need to fix the guides.
  7. To install the countertop, you should make holes in the side walls. Dowels will be placed there. Exactly the same holes must be made in the countertop itself. They should not be through, but not too small. It is important that all the holes match and the countertop sits as it should. To do this, you can attach it to where it should be, and mark the locations of the holes on the table top and side walls.
  8. Lubricate the dowels with PVA glue and insert into the ends of the frame where the holes are made.
  9. Set the tabletop on top so that the dowels fit into the grooves.
  10. If you want to make additional shelves on top of the table, they can also be attached with dowels.

It remains only to install the finished table in the place that you have chosen.

You can make a computer desk at home. You need patience, perseverance and a little imagination. Then your house will have a "shelter" for "smart" technology and its user.

Blueprints

In the drawings, you can consider the various designs of a computer desk:

It is quite difficult to imagine any house of a modern person without various technical equipment. In this respect, of course, the computer takes the lead. For those who prefer compact netbook models, there is no need to be puzzled by the choice of furniture to accommodate them. But if a computer is required not only for entertainment, but primarily for work, then, naturally, more powerful stationary-type equipment will be required. In this case, making a computer desk with your own hands is a rational decision.

Before you make a large or small computer desk with your own hands, you must first of all correctly approach the organization of the process.

Therefore, make an accurate list of all the elements that will make up the complete system. By default it is:

Choose the right material to build the table. Most often, materials such as chipboard are used for this.

How to choose a place for a computer desk?

The next stage of your work is to determine the correct location of the table. Naturally, the less space a computer desk occupies, the better, since the usable area will not be cluttered. But at the same time, it is also not worth minimizing it greatly, since then this piece of furniture is unlikely to fulfill its multifunctional purpose.

Among the basic rules of placement, the mandatory conditions are the following:

How to design a computer desk?

Once you have decided on a room and a specific location, it's time to start more interesting work - designing a computer desk. To do this, you will need to carefully analyze all the source data, study the rules below and draw up your drawing.

Important! Accuracy and an extremely attentive approach will allow you not only to equip your workplace with maximum comfort, but also significantly reduce your money spent on consumables, so take this step responsibly. In addition, the assembly speed and the number of nerves spent on it will depend on how correctly you determine all the parameters.

Which computer desk to choose?

The first stage of design is the selection of a suitable design. In this regard, there are several criteria:

There are the following types of structures:

How to determine the length of the table?

The required length of the table is determined by a certain number of factors, which include:

How to determine the depth of the table?

Calculating the depth of a computer desk is also easy. In this case, be guided by the following conditions:

How to calculate table height?

The calculation of the table height indicator is also performed no more complicated than the previous parameter. The standard level is 75 cm from the floor. It can vary if your height is far from average, and you will use the computer desk alone. In this case, calculate the height you need as follows:

Height*75/175 cm

Important! In order to clearly understand how to perform the calculation, check out the following example: with a height of 1.82 m, 182 * 75/175 = 78 cm are required.

How to determine the dimensions of the monitor stand?

Many consider the presence of such a constructive element unnecessary, but at the same time it will provide a more convenient view of all the necessary information on the monitor and free up some space.

Depending on the form, these modules of the following type are distinguished:

How to design a keyboard shelf correctly?

A keyboard shelf is another essential design element of a computer desk. Such a module will provide a number of advantages in terms of PC usability:

To enter data into the drawing of a computer table with your own hands, select the type of construction that suits you from the 2 existing ones:

Niche or shelf for the system unit?

The uninterrupted operation of the PC is ensured by a properly functioning system unit. Therefore, it is extremely important to create favorable conditions for its placement in order to ensure the duration of operation and the absence of the need to carry out frequent repairs.

The main placement rules are:

To understand why exactly it is necessary to design a special compartment in a computer desk for a system unit, let's denote the advantages:

Benefits of coasters:

  • mobility;
  • autonomy;
  • a small amount of consumables.

    Important! As a disadvantage, we note the fact that you can use it exclusively for its intended purpose. Use rollers with guides or adjustable furniture feet as supports for the stand. The parameters of such stands of the simplest design are defined as 280 mm wide, 500 mm long and 120 mm high.

Niche Design Benefits:

How to make a cabinet project for a computer desk?

The use of cabinets as an additional design element of a computer desk is not only a practical solution, but also a sign of good design taste. It can be used for:

According to the method of installation, cabinets are distinguished by:

How to design a computer desk extension?

Increasingly, when choosing a desktop design for a PC, preference is given not to simple, but to more complex options with an add-on. This decision is not accidental, because the usable space is significantly expanded, and the vertical is used for this. It is the extension that can be an excellent option for installing a scanner, printer, storing books and documentation in an orderly manner.

The main requirements for an extension relate to two factors:

  • attractiveness and originality of design;
  • the practicality of the size and location of the shelves.

With regard to dimensions, be sure to consider the installation location of the monitor you have determined and its diagonal:

Take into account some additional recommendations for the design of the extension:

How to assemble a computer desk with your own hands?

So that you can more clearly imagine the assembly process, as an example, below is a diagram of a drawing of a computer desk made of chipboard (pine) with a stand for the system unit, a pull-out keyboard shelf and an additional shelf at the bottom, a cabinet with 3 drawers and an extension with sequential instructions its installation.

Conclusion

Drawing up a drawing and assembling a computer desk with your own hands at first glance may seem like a laborious task that you can’t handle. In fact, be sure that this is more of a creative process that you will certainly enjoy, and upon completion of the process, it will bring pleasure not only from convenient work at the computer, but also moral satisfaction from the work done on your own.

Hello! Some time ago, I got excited about the idea of a computer desk that would suit me in everything. Finally the day came when the reflection of my computer shone in its polished surface. About how it was made and what came of it, I want to tell you! There are many photos waiting for you.

I will not repeat myself much, so if I generalize, I wanted a comfortable, beautiful, high-quality, durable, relatively compact and at the same time mobile computer desk. So the idea was born, which can be seen in the first picture in the header.

As I wrote earlier, initially I was going to make this table myself, because I like to work with my hands and have some experience in creating my own furniture, but after weighing my strength, I decided that it would be too difficult for me - there are a lot of exact sizes and a lot of places where a little naughty can screw up the whole idea. Therefore, the implementation was carried out by friends who specialize in this with my direct participation. At the very first stages, I realized that this was a very reasonable decision because the sequence of actions and the approach of a professional turned out to be completely different than I had imagined. Especially with inner radii… but first things first.

Glued oak 25 mm thick was chosen as the base of the table. From wooden panels, the shapes of the top tabletop, the main lower part and the sidewalls were prepared.

The most interesting started with the inner radii. These are:

As I imagined it: we take, roughly speaking, a plinth, grind the desired radius in it and paste it into the corners. Everything. But there are several nuances here. Firstly, it is very difficult to grind the desired radius on a thin wooden block. Secondly, it is very difficult to adjust the desired radius so that it fits perfectly into this corner along the entire length. And thirdly: if you managed to cope with the first two points, then the edges of the bar will be very thin and brittle, which will most likely result in “bitten” and “torn” edges outside this radius.

Therefore, the masters do it this way: the base is sawn, a high prepared bar is glued between the parts, and after that the desired radius is adjusted “on the spot”. The bottom one is ready.

Do the same with the top radius. We glue, we adjust.

In parallel, we prepare all the other parts of the table.

Gluing it all together:

Here is the almost finished table. At the top lies the future retractable tabletop for a keyboard and mouse. Also, of course, wooden.

At the finish line before painting:

What is the result? I will pass without further pause.

And this is him, exhausted.

From now on, I'll tell you a little more. In the last post, there was a lot of discussion about how best to implement locking mechanisms. The solution, as always, turned out to be very simple: by analogy with construction equipment, two legs with rubber bands at the bottom are unscrewed into the floor and tightly fix the table in place. In the same photographs, the gray painted outline is clearly visible. I conceived it not only as a decorative element, but also in order to hide seams and joints. The paint was applied from a spray gun, so the contour turned out to be very dense and even, it feels like plastic to the touch. I don’t want to praise myself, but I’ll only note that such a combination of wood and painted outline turned out to be even more interesting live than in the project. The table looks very modern, especially in the Computer Desk concept.

Here: a shelf for ups and holes for wiring.

They met!

For the system unit, I decided to provide an additional mount. Still, a table on wheels, you never know what ... Unfortunately, I did not calculate the length of the bolt a little, but I think the idea is clear.

And the mounting base for the system unit is very convenient to use for shortening wires. So nothing superfluous gets in the way either under your feet or gets under the wheels.

UPS. The same photo shows the stoppers of the retractable table top. By the way, it turned out to be very comfortable and wide. I managed to win some extra space thanks to the rails located not on the sides of it, as most computer desk manufacturers do, but under the tabletop. It extends far enough without bending.

I also decided to make a small cut in order to demonstrate the beauty of its mobile properties. I note that in order to feel them, it is not necessary to carry a table from room to room, it is even convenient to simply roll it away from the wall in order to stick, say, wires. Or move it to a corner away when guests come and you need to put a large table. I also don’t have a TV, so it’s very convenient to move it closer to the sofa ... in general, there are a lot of scenarios when this can come in handy.

In general, I thought for a long time and came across several ideas for a more massive table in a similar design, which the opponents of sliding shelves would probably like, but for myself I consider them a very convenient solution, especially in small city apartments.

I don’t want to fence bulky structures, otherwise I’m out of sync with the ideas of mobility, so a little later I want to add some kind of shelf to the table:

I end with this. I hope that I managed to infect you with my ideas at least a little bit and you walked with me with pleasure from the first unsightly sketchup project to the very kitchen at the stern of that very table.

There is a computer in every home, and it needs a comfortable one, with all the shelves and drawers necessary for comfortable work.

Of course, this piece of furniture can be bought in a store, the range of computer tables is very large, and it will not be difficult to choose a design according to your needs.

But the cost of exclusive models made to order is quite high. Therefore, many ordinary people are thinking about how to make a computer desk themselves.

Before you start creating this piece of furniture, you need to decide on the place of its installation, and only after that start designing the structure. There is three types tables for the computer:

  • straight;
  • angular;
  • combined.

Important! To make the workplace comfortable and convenient, you need to choose the right type of construction, while building a table at minimal cost.

Straight

Straight design is a classic. If you look, then this is a simple desk, with some additional add-ons. This option is suitable for those people who use a computer from time to time, for example, to communicate in social networks. networks. This computer desk is placed against the wall.

Angular

This model is for advanced users who spend a lot of time at the computer. Corner design is preferable in apartments and rooms with a small area, since they occupy the dead zone of the corner. You won't need much material for this design.

Important! The corner design is not suitable for people who work at a computer, documents and stationery will constantly get in the way at hand.

Combined

A combination table is an ideal option for professionals, as the design has many bedside tables, shelves, niches. This piece of furniture takes up a lot of space so not suitable for a small room.

Assembling this design is more difficult than the first two, but if you have patience, the result will please you.

Components

Any computer desk, unless of course it is the simplest model, has some functional areas:

  • shelf for system unit, should be located in such a way that there is free access to the unit, but at the same time all the wires are hidden behind the working area. The size of the shelf must correspond to the dimensions of the system unit;
  • countertop- an integral part of the structure, a monitor will stand on it;
  • stands for speakers is a required element. The audio system takes up a lot of space and it is uneconomical to put them on the table, and the table space should be as ergonomic as possible;
  • scanner, printer, MFP - should stand separately, and on the very top shelf, since they are not used every day;
  • keyboard stand- although some believe that this element is unhealthy.

Advice! The convenience of work can be increased by providing drawers for storing stationery.

How to adjust the drawing with your own hands?

Once a decision has been made on what configuration of the table you need, you can proceed to the practical part - direct do-it-yourself manufacturing. At the very beginning of the creation of the project, they are determined with the dimensions of the structure, specifically with the height. The standard table has a height of 75 cm, but there is a special calculation formula:

Important! Table Height = Height times 75 divided by 175.

If a person's height is 180 cm, then using this formula, it is mono to calculate that the height of the computer desk will be 77 cm.

If you find it difficult to create your own drawing, adapt an existing one on the network with your own hands. The classic computer desk is easy to make and has such constituents how:

  • tabletop under the monitor;
  • keyboard shelf;
  • shelves for stationery;
  • drawers for paper;
  • two top shelves for acoustics or decor.

If everything is designed correctly, then there is a place on the computer desk for all the necessary elements.

After everything is decided with the project, you need to draw up a detailed action plan, which will describe step-by-step instructions for assembling the structure.

Materials and tools

Before starting work at home, prepare everything you need. materials:

  • furniture panels 1.8x20x200 cm - 2 pcs;
  • shields 1.8x60x200 and 1.8x40x200 - 3 pairs;
  • boards 1.2x12 cm - 6.2 meters;
  • plywood 6 mm - 1 sheet;
  • drawer guides - 3 pairs;
  • pair of guides for the shelf under the keyboard;
  • fittings and fasteners.

Instruments:

  • screwdriver and drill;
  • hacksaw;
  • construction stapler;
  • grinder;
  • chisels;
  • building corner and ruler;
  • roulette;
  • sandpaper of various fractions;
  • glue;
  • brushes and varnish;
  • furniture tape.

The materials are indicated based on the fact that a classic design will be assembled. When creating an individual computer desk, this list must be adjusted for the project.

Advice! When choosing guides for drawers and drawers, it is better to prefer ball models, despite the fact that their cost is higher than roller ones. The disadvantage of the roller elements is that they do not last long, they do not fully extend, they do not have a reliable limiter.

How to make?

The assembly of the structure is carried out strictly according to the drawing, which was prepared earlier.

How to assemble the lower tier yourself?

First of all, it is carried out detail marking on the surface of the material:

  • three vertical walls;
  • countertop;
  • nightstand covers.
  • All actions are carried out according to the project.

Vertical walls need to be filed - the front, upper corners are cut off 2x2 cm, the saw cuts are cleaned.

Typically, a computer desk is installed close to the wall, so the bottom corners are cut to fit the skirting board. Usually this distance is 4.5x5.5 mm.

On the vertical wall at the back, which runs through the center, you need to make a selection, it will be at a height of 26.5 cm. The width of the selection is 20 cm, the depth is 1.8 cm. During assembly, a cross member will be installed in this place. The sample is made so that the element is screwed with self-tapping screws right up to the side walls. This panel replaces the back wall of the structure. In this case, the table will receive proper rigidity and stability.

Once all the elements are ready, holes for fasteners are drilled in the right places. If this is not done, then during assembly, the furniture board may crack at the attachment point. Twist the elements with self-tapping screws.

It's time to make a niche for installing the system unit. If you are a system administrator or a programmer, then you need access to the system unit and its components all the time. Therefore, it is worth equipping a stationary, durable and stable shelf with self-tapping screws.

The horizontal shelf and side wall are cut to the size of the drawing. At the side element, cut off the front corner from above, process with sandpaper. It is also worth filing the rear lower corner under the plinth. Screw the shelf to the side wall, then fasten the structure to the side stand of the table and the rear crossbar. The openings under the shelf and cabinet must be closed with panels sawn out for the base. The fastening in this case will be dowels. In this case, they are not treated with glue..

The lower part of the computer table is ready. You can start building a superstructure with shelves.

Computer add-on

In order for the computer desk to be as functional and convenient as possible for work, the project must provide not only shelves, a table top and a bottom for the system unit, but also an upper part with stripes.

The superstructure is not only an additional place for storing small items, but also performs a decorative function.

Step-by-step instruction:

  1. Mark the necessary elements on the furniture board, cut out.
  2. Carefully sand all cuts with sandpaper so that sharp corners are rounded.
  3. The sidewalls will be attached to the countertop, so you need to determine the attachment points.
  4. Make a template 1.8 cm thick.
  5. Attach the template to the countertop and make a markup. For more accurate marking at the ends of the template, you need to equip the holes with a drill and a drill.
  6. Then drill holes in the countertop according to the markup in this way:
    • drill through holes in the tabletop with a drill with a drill of the desired section;
    • drill blind holes at the ends of the sidewalls with a drill of the same section.
  7. To install the side elements of the superstructure on the countertop, use the building angle, it will help to avoid distortion in the structure.
  8. The side racks are screwed onto self-tapping screws under the tabletop, while the through and blind holes are combined.
  9. Next comes the fixing of the upper shelf of the superstructure, for this, an element of the desired length with a width of 31.5 cm is cut out from a 40x200 cm shield.
  10. The middle rack is cut out of a 20x200 cm shield. It should be equipped like the side walls and installed on the countertop with self-tapping screws, adjusting the perpendicularity of the structure with the building angle.
  11. The next step will be the arrangement of the rear side. Which is screwed to the sidewalls and the end of the middle element. This process is also regulated by a corner.
  12. Now you need to arrange a place for the printer, which is usually located on the left side. Please note that the printer has a significant specific gravity, so the shelf under it must be strong and stable. For greater structural strength, the shelf is not just screwed onto self-tapping screws, but is additionally attached to the side walls using furniture corners.

This completes the work on arranging the add-in, and you can proceed to the next step.

Drawer and drawers

Drawers are necessary in such a design as a computer desk. The functionality of these elements is undeniable. How to equip drawers we will now consider:

  1. For the bottom of the structure, you will need plywood, from which we cut out the elements of the desired size.
  2. From the board we form the side walls.
  3. Connect 4 side elements with self-tapping screws.
  4. Using a construction stapler and staples, connect the bottom and sides of the box.
  5. Important! The width and depth of the inner drawer is adjusted based on the thickness of the rails that will be installed on the inside of the nightstand.
  6. Fix the guides in such a way that a gap of 1.8 cm is formed between them and the edge of the bedside table. This is exactly the thickness of the front panel of the drawer.

The rest of the boxes are sorted in the same way.

Screw the guide profile at the required distance from the tabletop, install the brake elements and the shelf.

This construction of the structure is not completed. Now it needs to be torn into components and treated with varnish. Once all the elements are completely dry, you can make the final assembly of the computer desk.

Advice! To reinforce the structure, all end elements and fasteners are treated with wood glue before assembly.

Facing and decorating at home

Once the design is finally assembled, proceed to its cladding and decoration:

  1. The first step is to install the facades on retractable elements.
  2. Cut out the facade elements, grind the saw cuts. Drill holes in the places where the handles are to be installed.
  3. Attach the facade to the front wall of the box and mark the attachment point.
  4. Attach the front panel and fix it on the drawer with bolts that will fasten the handle.
  5. For additional reliability, the facing panel is fixed with self-tapping screws on the inside of the boxes. Self-tapping screws must be taken of such a length that they enter the facing panel by a maximum of 2/3.

    Conclusion

    As is clear from the article, there is nothing difficult in creating a computer desk with your own hands. It is enough to follow the instructions exactly, be patient.

    Important! If a decision is made to make a structure from MDF panels, then experts advise ordering a cut of the material into separate parts in a specialized workshop. It will not cost a lot of money, and the details will turn out to be even and neat, with the edge removed.

    You should also not immediately take on too complex structures, if you have no carpentry experience, start with a simple one.

    In contact with

    With the advent of personal computers in our lives, it has become important to make a corner computer desk with your own hands. Recently, corner computer tables are gaining more and more popularity. By making a computer desk with your own hands, you can not only get furniture with an individual design, but also significantly save your budget.

    Homemade corner table will save space in the room and your budget.

    Of course, you can buy such a table in the store, but there are people who prefer to do everything with their own hands.

    How to start making a table

    Decide on the size
    You can look at the layout of objects on the table.

    Before you make a corner computer desk, you need to decide on the shape of the table, its dimensions, design, and possibly some additional features. It is very important to clearly imagine its appearance, the materials used to create the table will depend on this.

    Everything that may be needed in the process of work must be prepared in advance.

    Now you need to draw up a project for the manufacture of a computer desk. When compiling it, it is necessary to take into account some parameters:

    • the functions of the table, it is important to provide for such trifles as the number of drawers, as well as the need for a pull-out shelf for the keyboard and other shelves for office equipment;
    • the height of the table, while it is very important for whom this table is made, if it is intended for an adult, then you need a standard height, if for a child, then you need to choose the right height, focusing on the height of the child, do not forget about the size of the swivel chair ;
    • when planning additional shelves, you need to take into account the dimensions of office equipment and make shelves strictly for them;
    • the size of the table should correspond to the room in which it will be located, taking into account the furniture already located here.

    Before starting work, you need to make a sketch of the table with all dimensions.

    You can think over a place to store CDs in advance, for this you need to measure the width of a pre-purchased plastic insert for discs. Now you need to complete a drawing in which all the necessary elements are marked with an exact indication of all dimensions. This is necessary in order to subsequently use the material most rationally. The drawing must indicate the number and type of fasteners.

    To make a computer desk with your own hands, you will need the following tools:

    • rulers;
    • end planer;
    • ready-made plastic insert for discs;
    • jigsaw;
    • screwdriwer set;
    • Circular Saw;
    • drill and a set of drills.

    From materials for a computer desk, you will need:

    List of materials for the manufacture of a computer table.

    • pine boards, necessary to strengthen the product, the optimal thickness will be boards of 25 mm;
    • for shelves, drawers and side walls, it is better to take an MDF board in the quantity required according to the drawing;
    • screws for fasteners, about 130 pcs.;
    • guides for shelves and drawers, their number will depend on the number of these elements;
    • plastic ties for corners;
    • end edge and sanding paper for processing the edges of drawers and shelves;
    • varnish or primer for finishing.

    Making a computer desk with your own hands is not difficult, but you need to be very careful when sizing on the drawings and when cutting individual elements from a large canvas.

    Assembling a table with drawers

    After all the necessary elements are cut out, you can begin to assemble the computer desk. You need to start the assembly from the side elements. At the same stage, we fix the guides under the pull-out shelf and under the drawers. This must be done very accurately in order to avoid skewing the boxes during further use. Then all the side walls are connected with dowels. In order to make the mount more durable, you can add PVA glue to the holes. Further, all the walls are fixed with self-tapping screws.

    The edges that are visible are treated with an edge tape, such a tape is attached using a conventional hot iron, it can be ironed through a thin fabric or plain paper.

    Tools for making a table: drill, jigsaw, screwdriver, screwdrivers, pliers.

    A computer desk can be installed depending on a pre-selected design. You can buy special metal round legs with a plastic base to avoid scratches on the floor, or at the initial stage, when designing, provide for the main focus on the side pedestals installed on the above metal legs or simply on additional planks made of material similar to the side posts.

    After all the edges of the computer table are processed, you need to fix the tabletop. As a rule, it is simply fixed on the dowels, after adding PVA glue to the holes. Holes for them are prepared in advance, after turning the table top over, using a drill. It is best to use a limiter in this case, since the drilling depth is small and you can inadvertently damage the front side of the countertop.

    Now we install the board intended for the keyboard in the guides and insert the drawers. Let's check if everything works.

    If, according to your project, the monitor will be installed not on a tabletop, but on a separate shelf, it is best to mount it on a special metal stand, firstly, it is very stylish, and secondly, it is reliable.

    Place for the system unit

    If you are going to use a personal computer at this computer desk, and not a laptop, you must provide a place for the system unit. A special stand is best suited for these purposes. It is not difficult to make it, but there will be a lot of convenience from it. You do not have to clutter up your table with unnecessary elements, while the system unit will be very mobile, there will be no rigid binding to the table. You will need a base cut to the size of the system unit, as well as two side rails. You can attach beautiful metal legs with a plastic base to the base or install wheels instead.

    Making a table with your own hands is not too difficult and very exciting. But you need to approach it responsibly. The main thing is to provide for all the little things at the initial stage, as well as to cut out individual elements very accurately. And then the table made with your own hands will exceed all your expectations.
