Chalet narrow frame house projects: quality and reliability. Chalet-style house - design and description of options for applying the style to the interior (80 photos) Projects of small chalet-style houses

Starting the construction of a country house on its own site, everyone already has an idea of the end result. Someone wants to see a traditional Russian hut, for someone ultramodern constructions are relevant, and some dream of an exotic Chinese pagoda. However, many prefer cozy and comfortable chalet-style houses.

A chalet-style country house attracts many for several explainable reasons:

 • reliable durable construction;
 • attractive unique appearance.

Translating the name "chalet" we get "shepherd's hut". The first buildings of this type were typical of the province of Savoy. It was here that shepherds settled on the Alpine slopes, erecting their cozy small houses from the available materials at hand in the form of wood and stones. The main purpose of these houses was to shelter from bad weather and wild animals.

In Russia, many people fell in love with houses in a chalet of the style thanks to the development of skiing. It is difficult to build a chalet into a special type of architecture, but this style still took its niche in the construction of country apartments.

Distinctive features of stylistics

Chalet style, this is a completely sustainable building. Among all other types of buildings of this type, it is given out by the following features:

An unusual roof

The roof is the most recognizable feature of the chalet style. The roof is chosen massive and sloping, the ledges are left large. The shape of the roof is determined by the natural conditions in which the first chalet houses were built.

Many windows, mostly panoramic. This is done so that the living atmosphere inside is fully connected with the landscape.

Terraces and spacious balconies

Open terraces and balconies are also constructed in order to merge with the surrounding nature as much as possible. The balconies are under an overhanging roof that protects them from precipitation.

Using only natural building materials.

The solid foundation and basement are built of stone, while the attic and the second level are made of wood. The stone, due to its strength, serves as a solid foundation, and the tree perfectly keeps warmth in winter, but the sultry heat keeps it cool.

Number of storeys of the building

The buildings have never been tall chalets. As a rule, the first basement is made of stone, the second is made of wood. If there is a need to expand the area of the house, then this was carried out due to the horizontal superstructure. In modern buildings, there is also an attic floor.

Chalet house design

In order for a suburban building to really correspond to the chosen style direction, projects of chalet-style houses are being developed.

The first thing to start with is the roof, which is the style-forming element. The main characteristic of a chalet roof is its angle of inclination, which must be very large. With such a slope, there is no need for a drain, since water and snow will slide down on their own.

The distance of the roof from the wall should be at least 1 meter, so that it can protect not only the walls from precipitation, but also a little land around the house.

When choosing the optimal roof slope angle, one should take into account the amount of precipitation in a particular climatic zone. When the angle is 45 degrees, then such a base is not strong and a reinforced rafter system will have to be erected. Therefore, it is advisable to make a sharper angle at which the snow itself will roll.

When choosing a roof covering, preference can be given to corrugated board, which is distinguished by its flexibility and lightness. If you want to follow the style exactly, you should choose shingles - oak, spruce or larch tiles. It is also permissible to use ceramic tiles, composite or bituminous. Ondulin is relevant. But what is strictly prohibited is the metal tile.

One-story house projects are also considering the construction of balconies and terraces. They usually line up from the south or east so that sunlight can penetrate there. Decorate them with figured boards or balustrades. The perimeter is sheathed with wooden elements.

Now you can go to the first (basement) floor. They build it cold, from strong stone. Then the wall surfaces are plastered and whitewashed. The basement accommodates a kitchen, a guest room, a bathroom, an entrance hallway and other utility rooms.

The second (warm) floor is built of wood. Here they equip bedrooms filled with warmth and comfort.

The attic includes rooms for accommodation and reception of guests and utility rooms. A balcony area can be located here. It is also made of wood.

As for the windows, in addition to the fact that they must be large, it is not permissible to use plastic here. Better to replace it with a tree, and complement with beautiful shutters.

Interior interior

Living room

The interior of a chalet-style house begins with the arrangement of the living room, because this is the largest room in which there are tall ceilings and large windows all over the wall. The main thing here is to use only natural finishing materials without replacing them with analogues.

The atmosphere of unprecedented warmth and comfort is created by soft carpets on the floor and chic fur coatings, chic lamps and elegant large chandeliers. Massive furniture items made of wood. Upholstered furniture group has a natural noble upholstery with wool, leather, velor or linen. The atmosphere is soft and calm.

The lighting in the room is made calm, slightly dim. For this, a multi-level lighting system is being erected, represented by wall sconces, floor and table lamps.

A hearth is a must in a chalet house. The whole family will gather here. They decorate it with stone luggage and decorate with stuffed animals around.

Dormitory

The main role in the bedroom is assigned to the bed, which should be made of polished wood, it is massive, with carvings. Textile inclusions made of cotton and linen will complement the cozy atmosphere. Bright pillows and bedspreads will enliven the design.

It is appropriate to spread a soft skin or carpet on the floor. As for the color palette, preference is given to natural shades: terracotta, beige, woody and the entire brown palette.

Kitchen and dining area

The kitchen equipment of the chalet is environmentally friendly and natural materials. Finishing and kitchen sets made of noble wood are colorful stylistic features. All built-in technical items are hidden under wooden facades or cute textile curtains.

The finishing of the wall surfaces provides for the original appearance of the wood. The maximum is permissible to plaster the surfaces or cover them with natural stone elements.

The ceiling is plastered in a light shade, beams are erected on it in a dark tone. The floor surfaces remain wooden, only slightly varnished with antique imitation.

A photo of a chalet-style house blows unprecedented warmth and comfort, which is why this style is so often chosen for the construction of country apartments.

House project from a bar in the style of Chalet No. 9

Actually, the figure shows a project from a rounded log, but there are opportunities to build the same one from a bar. Therefore, I combined the two variations and named the project that way. What I love about chalets is the huge windows that let in a lot of light during the winter months.

A wonderful three bedroom project suitable for a family who loves open space and unique comfortable design.

The first house is 140 square meters, very comfortable, nice and practical. A very solid project, there is nothing to add here.

Video - Chalet in Bavarian style

In conclusion, I suggest you watch a video with personal experience on building a Bavarian-style chalet. Maybe this example will inspire you.

Many chalet private house projects in our catalog are made with all the original style solutions preserved. But there are also cottages that partially convey this style with adaptation to our conditions. Since this direction, in its honest execution, is characteristic of houses from the snow-covered regions of Europe, it is not always clear and clear execution that is appropriate in most parts of our vast homeland. In order for a country cottage to look harmonious with the terrain, such a site is required so that it is close in its natural characteristics to European regions: mountains, pines, spruces, rocky terrain. Not everywhere you can find this, so sometimes it is enough to have conifers on the site, and stones can be made. This is just our opinion! We do not pretend to be such a solution. We perfectly understand all the realities of the Moscow region and it is for this reason that we are working on some chalet-style houses with adaptation to our area, not excluding the mentality of a Russian person.

Chalet highlights

Chalet country cottage projects can be either one-story or two-story. The second level of the house is attic. The roof, in most cases, is gable, wide and with awnings that protect large terraces, car areas and balconies from precipitation. The plinth can be high, finished with artificial stone, but in order to get closer to the true atmosphere, natural stone will look better. The interior design is also carried out using stone and wood. The cottage may have an open rafter system and a stone fireplace.

The most popular solution for such projects is a combination of building materials. The first floor is made of blocks of aerated concrete or bricks, and the second is made of glued or profiled dry timber. There is always a combination of finishing materials on the facade. In order to save money, the first floor, which most often consists of blocks, can be finished in a wet version of the facade with plaster. If you want a chalet cottage in the original style, but do not want a second floor made of wood, then the walls can be completely erected from blocks, but the facade must be finished with wood imitation material.

Individual approach

Chalet-style design is always not an ordinary job that requires the appropriate competence of the performer. A country building can be not only as an individual private housing, but also as a recreation center, a theme club or a restaurant, where you will need to accurately convey the true atmosphere of this style.

Our architectural bureau will develop an individual project of a country house in this style. As a result, you will receive a turnkey project: architectural and structural sections, engineering networks, interior design, as well as the selection of all necessary finishing materials. Landscaping is always a separate service. This will require the development of landscape design, as well as all the necessary samples of everything that is planned to beautify the territory.

The chalet style has an amazing history that dates back several centuries ago. The word "chalet" is translated from French as "shepherd's hut". The birthplace of this beautiful style is the province of Savoy, located on the border between Italy and Switzerland, where local shepherds actively settled on the snow-covered alpine slopes. They built, although it would be more correct to say - they simply "assembled" small and cozy, but very strong houses from scrap materials. For this, mainly stone and wood were used. It was these houses that were the first chalets. Given the very harsh climate and difficult terrain conditions, people sought to design an extremely durable home that could provide complete protection from wind, snow and other atmospheric precipitation, as well as wild animals.

The modern, familiar appearance of the chalet began to form around the fifties of the twentieth century. Moreover, thanks to the active popularization of ski tourism, this style has become a real hallmark of the mountains. As a result, the chalet's exceptional simplicity, maximum practicality and amazing coziness contributed to its progressive development. Now all over the world you can see private houses made in this style.

What are the characteristics of the chalet style? 7 main features

Chalet-style houses are unique. They have a number of individual characteristics, among which such points should be highlighted:

1. Multilevel architecture... This feature is primarily due to the mountainous terrain in which this style originated.

2. The ground floor is high enough and made of stone... In turn, the second floor is necessarily wooden. The standard layout of chalet houses includes:

 • on the basement floor there is an entrance hall, kitchen, bathroom, as well as various utility rooms;
 • on the ground floor there is a children's room, bedroom, bathroom and dressing room; rest rooms;
 • in the attic is the location of the study and guest rooms.

Please note that the most fire hazardous premises are located on the basement floor. This solution guarantees maximum safety at home.

3. Gable roof... It has a slight slope and wide overhangs that protect the walls and foundation from precipitation. The slope, in turn, ensures a gradual convergence of snow, thereby preventing its possible avalanche fall. In addition, thanks to this constructive solution, a snow cap is formed on the roof, which keeps the house warm in winter.

4. Balconies securely protected by wide overhangs... Staying on them is as comfortable as possible throughout the year and regardless of the weather.

5. Large and spacious enough terraces... They can overhang or simply lean on the columns.

6. The use of mainly wide or panoramic windows.

7. Complete unity of the exterior and interior.

In general, we can say that chalet-style houses are extremely interesting and attractive with their own architecture and interiors. They represent the embodiment of complete comfort, exceptional harmony and unique romanticism.

The name "chalet" originally referred to poor peasant (mostly shepherd's) houses, adhered to the mountain slopes. Built near remote pastures, they were supposed to hide from the weather and warm those who, for some reason, had to spend the night in the mountains.

The place of construction and its circumstances determine the characteristic stylistic features that distinguish the projects of houses and cottages in the Chalet style among others:

Unequal facades

The main facade is traditionally oriented towards the valley and looks the most impressive. Just because there is a mountain on the opposite side, there is no need to decorate there and there is nowhere to look either. Side facades in such a house are low and secondary.

One-sided light orientation determined the shape of the building and the roof - houses were molded along the slope, the ridge of the roof was placed perpendicular to it, and by itself the type of a wide house with a triangular pediment under a sloping roof, rows of windows on the facade and sometimes with a balcony - a gallery on the second floor was formed.

In large buildings, or in the case when the Chalet is built on a clearing, windows could be around the entire perimeter, but this is a more rare situation.

Now alpine houses are being built not only in the mountains, so their windows now face both sides, forward and backward. If you are going to build a house on a plot so that there is a front garden in front, a private garden in the back, and you have neighbors to your left and right, then buying a Chalet-style house (cottage) project is ideal for you.

Sloping wide gable roofs with large overhangs

They were called upon to protect the walls of the chalet house from rains in summer, and in winter to keep on themselves a warm cap - a thick layer of snow that prevented heat from leaving the room, and withstand the onslaught of avalanches coming down from the tops. They are also the easiest to build.

In modern projects of houses and cottages in the Chalet style, these roofs are considered the main feature of style. They are simple and economical in construction, easy to operate, and look impressive.

In principle, any modern project of a cottage under a sloping gable spreading roof can be stylized as an Alpine chalet house, using decorative means - increased roof overhangs, wooden powerful roof beams with struts, carved balconies and wooden shutters.

Natural materials for building a chalet

Large living or bleached stone and an abundance of wood are the hallmarks of the chalet.

Of course, before, no one specifically bought bricks or tiles for the shepherd's house, they used what was growing and lying nearby.

Traditionally, the entire second floor was made of timber or half-timbered timber (in the urban version, where it is more difficult to get logs, but full of broken bricks), but now they are often limited to powerful wooden roof structures and fences, and the walls are completely made of stone. Sometimes a tree is imitated by sheathing facades with clapboard or block house.

Modern projects of houses and cottages in the Chalet style may involve the construction of bricks, foam blocks, aerated concrete or other modern materials, be equipped with engineering systems according to the latest technology, but outwardly they retain their traditional look.
