Technical feature of sliding balcony doors

For the production of sliding doors to the balcony, it is necessary to use a reliable profile designed for heavy loads. The German Rehau and KBE profiles have proven themselves excellently. Also, for the manufacture of frames and sashes, natural materials from pine, larch and oak wood are widely used. Because the main area of the sliding door structure is occupied by the light-transmitting part, then for better heat saving, special attention should be paid to the double-glazed window.

Energy-saving double-glazed windows are especially relevant for balconies overlooking the shady side of the house, because. help keep the heat in the room. Multifunctional double-glazed windows are suitable for rooms on the sunny side of the house, because. in addition to saving heat in winter, they will help keep cool in summer by reflecting solar energy and preventing the room from heating up.

Sliding balcony doors are of tilt-sliding type (PSK-portal) and lifting-sliding (HSK-portal).

1. Tilt-sliding balcony doors

An alternative type of glazing for large openings is a folding accordion balcony door. This type of door structure can be used for openings up to 6 meters wide and up to 2.5 meters high. For smaller openings, Rehau Euro Slide sliding doors are suitable. This system is used for exits to insulated balconies and loggias, as well as for terraces, verandas and gazebos.

When carrying out repairs in houses and apartments, more and more people are installing interior doors without thresholds. It is stylish, comfortable and modern, however there are a few downsides. Through the gap between the lower edge of the door and the floor, cold, noise and smells pass. CASSETON offers a unique solution to this problem - automatic thresholds for interior doors.

What it is?

These systems are mounted in the lower part of the door and are designed to bridge the space between its edge and the floor covering. The seal leaves and adjoins the floor when the door is closed, and when opened it rises back. An automatic door threshold provides a number of benefits:

  • prevents the penetration of moisture, smoke and odors into the room;
  • increases sound insulation;
  • eliminates drafts and increases thermal insulation;
  • It does not require special care;
  • does not create obstacles when passing through the door, as is the case with traditional thresholds.

You can also lay a solid floor covering without noticeable transitions and thresholds during repairs in all rooms.

Distinctive features of automatic thresholds

We offer you to buy automatic thresholds for interior doors of any size and configuration. They are usually made of aluminum profile with built-in rubber seal and springs. On the end of the canvas on the side of the loops there is a start button. When it is pressed, the spring is activated and pushes the seal, and this happens silently. The gap between the floor and the door closes.

These automatic systems are very durable and withstand tens of thousands of door opening and closing cycles. Depending on the height of the clearance, the height of the threshold can be adjusted so that it fits snugly against the surface.

We can install automatic thresholds not only at the doors of your apartment or house, but also in commercial premises, whether it be a store, a kindergarten, an office or a medical facility. The absence of a traditional protruding threshold in these cases increases the convenience of people's movement, and an inconspicuous automatic threshold for doors excludes the penetration of cold, extraneous noise or odors from neighboring rooms.

How to buy a suitable threshold?

Automatic thresholds for any wooden doors are offered by CASSETON. Our measurer is ready to come to you at any address, after which the necessary installation work will be carried out. When you contact us, you get a number of benefits:

  • reasonable prices for automatic systems;
  • the ability to select thresholds for doors of any size;

  • Possibility of ordering installation.

We apply an individual approach and care about the reputation of the company, so we sell only high-quality systems and install them responsibly. You will definitely be pleased with the result!

Sliding interior partitions have a great advantage over swing doors. They are compact, do not require additional space during movement.

Depending on the installation method, two types of sliding systems are distinguished:

  • Threshold. The door moves along the bottom rail.
  • Non-threshold. The door moves along the top rail.

The fundamental difference between these two systems is in the profile for wardrobes, which bears the load. The natural question is: which of the two systems is better?

Features of threshold sliding partitions of the "coupe" type

From the name it is clear that we are talking about a system with a threshold, that is, a "coupe". The design has a bottom guide. The door moves along the rail, which is installed at the bottom of the cabinet. Advantages:

  • Unlimited choice of doors. You can choose massive doors filled with any material - glass, mirrors, etc. The dimensions of the door leaf practically do not play a role, since the weight of the door falls on the lower rail.
  • Quick and easy installation.
  • The system has been used for more than a dozen years, and there is no doubt about its reliability.

However, if everything was perfect, there would be no reason to look for new solutions. The well-known wardrobe system has the following disadvantages:

  • During operation, dust gets into the groove of the lower rail. Over time, debris accumulates and interferes with the smooth movement of the doors.
  • The bottom rail protrudes a few millimeters. Its presence interferes in the case of interior partitions. Even a small threshold can be dangerous for children and the elderly.

Taking into account the shortcomings of the “coupe” system, it is worth paying attention to the non-threshold system.

Features of non-threshold sliding systems

This mechanism is designed to rid the sliding structure of the shortcomings of the "coupe". The advantages of a non-threshold system are obvious:

  • There is no obstruction in the doorway.
  • When the doors are fully opened, there is no border between the rooms in the form of a threshold.
  • Thanks to the top track, parts of the mechanism do not get clogged, and the smooth running of the door is ensured.

The no-threshold system can be completed with closers and heels for the most simple use.

The design with the top guide has, perhaps, only one drawback. This system is suitable for doors made of lightweight materials. There are restrictions on the mass of the door leaf in the manufacture of doors for a non-threshold system. This drawback can be considered conditional, since modern manufacturers offer a wide selection of materials for light and beautiful partitions.

Threshold and non-threshold system - which one to choose

Ultimately, the choice is always with the client. The disadvantages of these systems are very conditional. And both types of interior partitions are popular.

About what types of wardrobe systems are, we talked separately. And now briefly about the leading manufacturers of non-threshold systems:

Briefly about the leading manufacturers of non-threshold systems:

  1. HETTICH. German brand under which they produce high quality products. The company offers steel profiles for sliding structures. The minus of the offer is the overpriced price for the Russian consumer.
  2. Non-threshold systems "Jaguar Doors" - a Russian manufacturer. Offers a lightweight suspension system with a special bottom leash that prevents the door from swaying while moving. The floor mechanism keeps the doors in a vertical position. Also, the doors are equipped with a closer and a synchronizer. It automatically moves one canvas when a person sets the other in motion.
  3. Sliding doors "Alf" - equipped with German rollers "GEZE" and guides of our own production. The products of this company can be assessed as acceptable in terms of price / quality ratio. The system is quiet and durable.
  4. Senator - Polish sliding system. Differs in the highest quality of all components and convenience. Despite the fact that in this system the doors run along the lower rail, it can still be classified as a non-threshold system. In Senator interior doors, the rollers are placed in the door leaf. They are absolutely invisible, like the rail, which practically does not protrude above the floor level.
  5. site - a high-quality Russian brand of patented sliding systems. The company makes an advantageous offer in the form of a new unique Puerta non-threshold system. The suspension system is universal, which makes the choice of all components as flexible as possible. During installation, you can use the doors of the Ramir system, which is widely used in furniture retail, and choose the filling of the door from a wide range of materials. The profile palette includes 40 shades and textures. These include an anodized aluminum profile and a PVC-wrapped profile. Plus system "Puerta" - the best combination of affordable price and high quality.

The advantage of sliding doors "without a threshold" is the absence of any grooves or rails on the floor (under the sliding doors). Sliding doors are attached only from above. Thus, it is possible to do without disturbing, altering or modifying the floor covering.

Interior sliding sliding doors.

In modern conditions, when the footage of the apartment does not allow to bear large-scale ideas for redevelopment of the apartment, the installation of sliding interior doors becomes very relevant. Compared to conventional swing doors, they have a higher price, but their financial component will not play a significant role from the realization of their undeniable comfort and modernity. Indeed, sliding doors save a lot of space in the apartment, because, unlike regular doors, they slide along the wall, and thus visually make interior spaces larger than they really are.

In addition, the advantages of sliding doors are expressed in the ability to conveniently divide even the room space into several isolated rooms. For example, in a small apartment, where often one room can have several functional values, you can separate the bedroom from the living room (in case guests have come to you), or the hall from the kitchen (in order to prevent the spread of smells from cooking in an adjacent room). Another big advantage is their functionality in that when installing them there is no need to change the size of the doorway, sliding doors are always a few centimeters larger than it. And if you had the idea to install traditional swing doors, you would probably have to order a custom-made door, fitting it to the size of the doorway. What else can be said about sliding doors?
They do not tend to creak (unlike swing doors, in which this problem is always solved by lubricating the hinges with machine oil or other lubricants), they open smoothly and very quietly. This also matters if you have a habit of getting up often at night, disturbing loved ones at the same time.

Paying tribute to the advantage of sliding doors, it is impossible not to note some of their disadvantages. First of all, this concerns poor sound insulation. If you are a big fan of peace and quiet, then any sounds from behind closed doors will reach you as clearly as if you were next to a TV, tape recorder or other source of noise, animate or inanimate. Secondly, over time, when the box dries out, sliding doors can open and close on their own. The same thing happens if they are installed incorrectly. Thirdly, you can always safely pinch your upper or lower limbs with such doors, which often happens even in regular situations.

But in any case, the modern look that sliding doors give to your interior and their functionality play a decisive role in their choice, even with some of their shortcomings.

Installation of interior sliding doors

I really like sliding doors or sliding doors. They save usable space, so almost all interior doors in my house are just like that.
Their only drawback is that they do not isolate the room as tightly as the swing ones. But can it really be considered a minus when subtle appetizing smells begin to seep out of the kitchen. You immediately understand that they will soon invite you to the table, and you can start working up an appetite.

It is not difficult to install such a door yourself. The main thing is to be careful in calculations and in work. I installed the first door for about 9 hours, but I spent only 4 hours on the second one. The experience gained affects.

The availability of materials and tools is important:
-door leaf (should be wider and higher than the doorway by 5-7 cm);
- a wooden block 50X50mm and a length equal to twice the width of the canvas;
-a set of fittings for sliding doors (available in almost any furniture store: guide bar, rollers, fasteners);
- cashier 2 pieces (one will be on top of the door frame, the second on the side);
- a box-shaped rack (the door adjoins it in the closed position);
-two extras;
-doorknobs;
- self-tapping screws, anchors for attaching the timber to the wall, finishing nails for cashers.

With self-tapping screws I strengthen the guide bar to the beam. The bar is metal, so I pre-drill holes in it for self-tapping screws at a distance of 20 cm from each other.

In the bottom of the door leaf, you need to select a groove in which the guide roller will slide. It serves to ensure that the lower part of the door does not deviate when moving. I don’t have a cutter, so I used a wood pen. Gently, hole to hole, then cleaned out the excess with a chisel.

The bar with the guide bar is fixed strictly horizontally, otherwise the door will spontaneously either open or close.
I install rollers in the guide. I fix the lower guide roller on the floor. It is important here that it be fixed exactly under the top bar, otherwise the door will not be installed vertically. I put the door leaf on the lower guide roller, give the leaf a vertical position and fix it on the upper rollers. To prevent the door from moving beyond the guide bar, I install limiters.
