Prayer for healing and health

In case of illnesses of yours or your loved ones, use the Divine power of words. Pray to the Lord or the Holy Great Martyrs for protection over you and for health.

Believe that the Heavenly healers will hear every one who asks and suffers. They provide their help by relieving physical pain and giving strength of spirit.

Prayers for the health of a sick person have truly enormous power. He must be baptized in the church. You can say words of prayer in the Temple or at home, turning to the images.

Saint protecting children

The clergy say that children have special guardianship of Heaven, since they are still defenseless and pure before the world. A child baptized in a church has his own Guardian Angel. Take care of him too Savior and Most Holy Theotokos.

Among the Orthodox Saints there are those who especially patronize small children. This is due to the peculiarities of their actions in earthly life. The main patron who protects children is the Saint Stylian of Parthagon.

Stylian of Parthagon

From an early age he was distinguished by his desire for holiness. Having reached adulthood, he distributed property to the poor, took monastic vows and settled in a cave. After Divine grace descended on Stylian, he began to heal the sick. He especially devoted his life to the treatment and spiritual education of children.

In addition, Saint Stylian was considered the patron saint of babies who were yet to be born. Women suffering from infertility call for his help and ask him to give them children. On the icons Saint Stylian is depicted with a baby in his arms. They honor him November 26.

The following Heavenly patrons also protect children from evil forces and misfortunes:

  • Wonderworker Saint Nicholas
  • Holy Martyr Neophytos of Nicaea
  • Holy Child - Martyr Gabriel of Bialystok
Gabriel of Bialystok

The saint after whom the child is named. Icons depicting these helpers of God should be placed in the child’s room. Church ministers point out that these images are not a talisman for a child. Help is sent by the Almighty through the prayers of the Saint, to whom you address through the icon.

Prayer for the health of the child

The most powerful prayer is, of course, a mother’s prayer for the health of the child. Because there are no thoughts or words more sincere than a mother’s prayer for her child.

When a child is sick, loving parents are ready to do anything to make the illness go away. However, do not forget that prayer for your children is not bargaining with Heavenly powers.

Often in sad moments we make any vows to God, if only he would help in healing our loved ones. And when recovery happens, we forget about what was promised.

Prayer for the health of the child should be conscious, devoid of thoughtless vows. After all, the Heavenly Healer helps us without asking for anything in return. It is customary for Orthodox Christians to pray for the health of their children to:

  • Jesus the Savior
  • Blessed Virgin Mary
  • Healer Panteleimon
  • Matrona Blessed of Moscow

You need to pray for the recovery of children correctly:

  • Decide which Saint you will pray to.
  • go to church and write a note about the child's health.
  • place candles in front of the icons of the Savior, Mother of God and Saint.
  • in prayer, first ask forgiveness for your sins and weaknesses.
  • ask to heal the servant of God (name) from illness and not torment his soul with suffering.
  • When you pray for a child under seven years old, say “God’s child.”
  • collect holy water.
  • At home, read a prayer by placing your hand on the child’s head.
  • wash him with holy water.
  • It’s better to pray several times a day, even when you’re just thinking about your child.

There are many canonical prayers for the healing of children. They can be found in Prayer Books or on the Internet. But know that when you ask for the healing of a child, you can speak in your own words, it is not necessary to memorize the texts.

God will hear you in any case, because prayer comes from the heart. The clergy say that the Lord is merciful to the mother’s words, so you can pray to Him for an unbaptized child.

Icon of the patroness of women for marriage

Almost every worldly girl wants to start a family by marrying a good man. In the Orthodox understanding, the purpose of marriage is not only the birth of children, but also spiritual unity. Therefore, you should not be embarrassed to ask the Lord for marriage.

The desire to meet a worthy man in order to live with him in love is natural and natural. Sometimes a believing girl or her parents go to churches and monasteries where the relics of Saints or miraculous icons are kept. There they offer their prayers, asking Heaven to arrange their personal lives.

Often these prayers are prayed before icons:

  • Great Martyr Paraskeva Pyatnitsa - she has long been considered the main patroness of girls of marriageable age. The martyr is not only a healer of various ailments, but also helps girls marry for love. In the old days, an icon with the image of Paraskeva stood in every home and helped women in marriage.
  • Fedorovskaya Icon of the Mother of God - this miraculous icon is revered as a reliable patroness of young virgins for marriage.

Before contacting the Intercessor, you should prepare:

  • let go of grievances, forgive those men with whom you did not have a good relationship.
  • take a swim, cleanse yourself not only spiritually, but also physically.
  • tidy up your house, your home should also be harmonious.
  • ask your parents for blessings; say the words of prayer.

You can also pray to other Saints who are close to you in spirit. You don't need to know any special words.

Ask about what worries you: about the desire to get married, about the fear of loneliness, about how you see your future husband and marriage with him. At the end of the prayer, do not forget to thank the Saint for his help and for what you already have in your life.

Among believers, the prayer for marriage to Saint Joseph is considered very powerful:

Remember that we are rewarded according to our faith. Miracles happen more often than we think.

The most powerful icon in the world

In the Orthodox world The most powerful icon is considered to be the icon of the Mother of God “The Tsaritsa”(Greek Pantanassa). This is a small image dating from the 17th century. This icon is located in Greece, in the Vatopedi monastery on Holy Mount Athos.

Since the beginning of this century, this miraculous shrine began to flow myrrh. It depicts the Most Pure Virgin in crimson robes, seated on the Throne. In the hands of the Mother of God is a baby, the Son of God, holding a scroll. And in the background there are two Angels.

This image of the Mother of God has the most powerful healing power. The miraculous properties of this shrine are known throughout the world.

Mandatory three icons that should be in every home

There are a large number of icons depicting the faces of saints. This is due to the fact that there are a great many human needs and wants.

Each Saint is endowed with a certain gift for his work or suffering. People turn to them with prayers.

There are no restrictions on the number of icons in the house. You can place as many shrines as you see fit.

However, don't get too carried away. After all, a person’s faith is measured not by the number of icons, but by his thoughts and actions.

  • Saint Panteleimon the Healer.
  • Nicholas the Wonderworker.
  • The saint in whose honor you or family members were baptized.
  • Saint, who is your Guardian Angel.

A strong Orthodox prayer-amulet to all saints for help, in gratitude, for all occasions: text

There are a great many Orthodox prayers: about health, marriage, from the evil eye, etc. In difficult times, we read them, turning to our Heavenly Helpers.

And there are “universal” prayers, amulets for all life situations. The effectiveness of their words is enhanced by time. Learn these prayers yourself and teach them to your children. Explain that prayer is communication with our Lord.

A very strong prayer-amulet, a real “shield” even in very dangerous situations, is this:

There are saints to whom they pray “for every need”: for the birth of children, for solving housing problems... Where does this “specialization” come from? Is it acceptable? Or should only God pray for everything?

The Mystery of Saint Antipas

Almost 40 years after the Savior died on the Cross and was resurrected, the Christian Antipas, the bishop of that region, was cruelly tortured in the Asia Minor city of Pergamum. He was burned as a sacrifice to idols in the belly of the red-hot copper ox of the Temple of Artemis. The bishop's prayer for his flock could be heard from the fire. From the official life of the saint, it is not clear why a tradition has developed among Christians to consider him the patron saint of dentists and a healer of dental diseases. There is nothing written there about teeth. “I don’t know why this is happening,” says the rector of the Moscow church in the name of the Hieromartyr Antipas Archpriest Dimitry Roshchin. - They say there is an extended life, and it says that during torture all his teeth were pulled out. Obviously, it is believed that since he himself endured such torment, he can help others. I remember several cases of such healings in our temple. Usually these are not our parishioners. Strangers came to pray to our icon of St. Antipas, read an akathist to him, and then they passed notes to me through a candle box: “So-and-so prayed to St. Antipas and I testify that I managed without the complex operation that was already prescribed for me.” .

At first, after its opening in 2005, the temple tried as best it could to live up to the “legend” of its patron. The parishioners had this idea - to set up a dental office at the church. “We feel like the official representatives of the holy martyr on Earth,” jokes Father Dimitri. — Indeed, at first they were going to make a clinic, but they were afraid of responsibility. Usually, when a person comes to a church hospital, he expects some kind of special treatment. What if there is some kind of overlap? It will be awkward." So for now, Saint Antipas himself “works” for the parishioners. Although he was canonized for his steadfastness in faith, he continues to help in solving dental problems. He has such an incomprehensible specialization.

The rector himself has his own idea about the special functions of Saint Antipas: “I am sure that all the parishioners thank Saint Antipas for giving us such a place, the only one in Moscow, where we can gather and pray together. I myself do not have an attitude towards Antipas as a special saint who heals teeth, although I look at this very seriously, without irony. But something else is more important for me: since Antipas is the only saint who is mentioned in the Apocalypse of John the Theologian, I think he has the grace to protect Christians of recent times from all temptations and all lies, for which I earnestly pray to him. This is his main occupation, in my opinion.”

The Hieromartyr Antipas in the Apocalypse is remembered by the Angel of the Lord when he says to John the Theologian, who is in exile on the island of Patmos: “And write to the angel of the Church of Pergamon: I know your deeds and that you live where the throne of Satan is, and that you keep My name and have not renounced My faith even in those days in which among you, where Satan dwells, My faithful witness Antipas was killed" (Rev. 2: 12-13)"

"Our" saints

It has long been noticed by believers, and from some lives it clearly follows that many saints help in certain everyday problems. For example, when there is a theft, they will pray to the martyr John the Warrior, because during his lifetime he denounced thieves; at a high temperature - to the Apostle Peter, since it was his mother-in-law, who was lying in a fever, that the Lord healed.

Sometimes an ethnographic factor interferes with the veneration of a saint. In central Russia, there was a custom when starting work in the gardens, namely when planting cucumbers, to pray to Saints Equal to the Apostles Constantine and Helen, but not because their fate was somehow connected with garden work, but because the day of their memory falls on the traditional time of planting cucumbers in this strip of Russia. And this, of course, is justified - on their holiday, the saints are probably especially sensitive to our prayers.

There are cases of veneration based on incorrect interpretation of icons.

For example, the symbolism of the icon of the Mother of God “Inexhaustible Chalice” is associated with the Eucharist, but they pray to it mainly for healing from the disease of drunkenness. When and how did it start? Secretary of the diocesan commission for the canonization of saints, priest Maxim Plyakin believes that in such cases the beginning of specific veneration was laid by a certain precedent: “The icon “Inexhaustible Chalice” began to be revered in this way after the first miracle recorded from it happened in 1878 - a binge-drinking retired soldier was healed through prayers before it. It so happened that the Lord showed His power through this icon. The Holy Martyr Antipas was most likely placed by the Lord in his “dental ministry” in the same way.”

No matter how many saints intercede for us, the only source of miracles is still the Lord. And in this context, Father Maxim believes, it does not matter at all which of the saints will ask the Lord for our needs. Nevertheless, people usually prefer to turn to those saints who are closer to them.

“Any person who has spent a long time in the Church gradually develops a certain circle of “their” saints,” explains Father Maxim. “And naturally, the first impulse will be to pray to them.” There is one more circumstance that influences the choice: the earth is full of rumors, someone heard something, someone themselves experienced a miracle through the prayers of this saint. We can ask any saints for help, including little-known ones. If a person has faith and zeal for the intercession of a particular ascetic, then his prayer may not be in any way connected with the traditional help of this saint. If there is a tradition of praying to the holy Tsar-Passion-Bearer Nicholas for the well-being of our country, which is completely understandable, this does not mean that other miracles through his intercession are impossible. Any saint has the opportunity to intercede for us before God, and before any icon of the Mother of God we pray to the same Mary, who gave birth to our Redeemer.”

Miracles and more

In prayer books you can often find so-called prayers for every need. Some of them are more like conspiracies: against diseases of livestock, for success in fishing, about finding stolen property. The line between reverence and paganism passes where the absolutization of the meaning of this or that saint begins. Father Maxim Plyakin: “It is dangerous to think that you can only turn to one saint with a specific request. An equally serious misconception is to attribute to one or another saint any one exclusive function.

When the Church compiles a prayer for the so-called specialized saints, they try not to insert circumstances of miracles into it. And even to the great martyr physician Panteleimon, to whom they routinely pray for healing in various diseases, in prayer books the first prayer is usually a general one, simply on behalf of a person with a certain need. There is, of course, a prayer for healing from illnesses, but it is usually printed in the appendix. This reveals the wisdom of church hymns, because after all, we honor the saint, and not his healing abilities. For us, the healer Panteleimon is first and foremost a martyr.”

Father Maxim advises checking the texts of the prayers you come across with those collections that have been approved by any censoring church authorities: “It is best to focus on the collection “Prayers said at prayer services and other services,” which was published by the Petrograd Synodal Printing House in 1915 and later in modern times it has been republished as a reprint.”

The Universal Church is full of saints. She lives by them. Some saints are “transferred” for help from hand to hand. Now, for example, in Russia there is a tradition of praying in case of cancer to the Greek saint of the early 20th century, Nektarios of Aegina. The veneration of Saint Nektarios penetrated into Russia in the mid-nineties. Father Maxim says that in Greece, his homeland, cases of miracles through his prayers are not limited to oncology, but occur en masse and for various reasons.

We can always witness some new special care for us. The main thing is to always remember God in your everyday worries and know that not a single need of ours will be left without His All-Merciful attention.

Every person has troubles in life that require help from Above. In many situations, we pray for the protection of the Holy Saints, because they have the boldness to pray for us before the Almighty. In addition, they, too, were ordinary people in their time and understand our problems.

And after death, the Lord granted them the gift of helping people in various situations.

When to ask for help through prayer

Work is where a person spends most of his life. Labor activity gives us the opportunity to provide ourselves and our family with material benefits.

But sometimes at work there comes a “dark streak”, a series of troubles, which forces you to look for a way out of the problems. Of course, you can endure attacks from colleagues and superiors, be under stress every day, or look for a new job, which is quite difficult during a crisis.

David's songs help to get rid of any everyday misfortune, to appease ill-wishers who do evil. Reading psalms can protect against demonic attacks.

Read the psalms:

  • 57 - if the situation around you has become tense and there is no way to calm the “storm”, prayer will protect and call on the Lord’s help;
  • 70 - will suggest a way out of the conflict, will calm down the tyrant boss;
  • 7 - helps to resist grievances and quarrels, indicates the right steps to solve the problem;
  • 11 - pacifies the spirit of an evil person;
  • 59 - reveals the truth to the boss if the employee has become a victim of gossip or conspiracy.

Prayer Rules

When entering the Holy Temple, you must cross yourself three times. It is important to touch your body with your fingers and not cross the air.

Having entered the chapel of the temple and stood before the face of the saint, you need to concentrate and devote your thoughts to the saint to whom the prayer will be addressed.

It is advisable, before turning to a saint, to read his life, confess his sins, and take communion. And strong faith and the Orthodox spirit will give strength in this situation.

In petitions, do not forget about basic gratitude. Even if the request has not yet been fulfilled, then you need to continue praying, not renounce the saints and not blame anyone.

It should be remembered that for every action and event there is a time and place.

Prayer for work to Saint Tryphon

Which saint should you pray to? Prayers for all occasions: about work, to get pregnant, about marriage, about children and others - are they traditional for Orthodoxy?

The tradition of venerating saints in the Christian Church is very ancient; it has existed since the very moment the Church appeared, from the first years of its existence. Christian churches in ancient times were built on the tombs of martyrs. And it was the blood of the martyrs, according to one ancient church writer, that was the “seed of Christianity,” that is, Christianity spread thanks to the feat of the martyrs.

Prayer for all occasions - does it exist?

I would like to speak very briefly about one negative phenomenon that is associated with the veneration of saints. The fact is that some perceive saints approximately the same way the pagans perceived their gods - according to the principle “which saint helps with what.” Such people come into church and ask: “ Which saint should I light a candle to get an apartment?”, “Which saint should I pray for a toothache?” etc.

We must remember that saints are not some kind of gods, from which you can get something, and from each their own. Saints are not experts in issuing apartments, stopping toothaches, or other similar things. There are, of course, saints who were doctors during their lifetime, and we turn to them with a request for healing, for example, the Holy Great Martyr Panteleimon. Indeed, through the prayers of such saints, many healings occur. But under no circumstances Saints should not be perceived as some kind of fetish; We cannot replace a prayer to a saint as a person who has achieved spiritual perfection and can help us in some way with a prayer to a saint as some kind of idol who is needed only because we can get specific help from him.

Saints are first and foremost ours heavenly friends who can help us in our progress on the path to salvation, on the path to God. And only secondarily, saints are those who help us with specific everyday things.

Prayers for work, prayer for good luck at work

How to pray for the Lord to help at work, looking for work? How to pray for work to go well? Whether there is a "Prayers for good luck at work" as often asked on the Internet?

A Christian asks God for help in every matter, so it is right to pray both in finding a job and that the work goes well. How to pray?

Of course, you need to pray to the Lord Jesus Christ with all your heart, asking Him to help you find a job in which you can worthily, without sin, use your gifts for the glory of God and the good of people.

When looking for work, they also pray to the holy martyr Tryphon.

Prayer to the Holy Martyr Tryphon

Oh, holy martyr of Christ Tryphon, quick helper to all who come running to you and pray before your holy image, quick to obey the intercessor!

Hear now and forever the prayer of us, your unworthy servants, who honor your holy memory. You, servant of Christ, promised that before your departure from this corruptible life, you would pray for us to the Lord and asked Him for this gift: if anyone in any need and sorrow begins to call upon your holy name, may he be delivered from every excuse is evil. And just as you sometimes healed the daughter of the princess in the city of Rome from the torment of the devil, you saved us from his fierce machinations all the days of our lives, especially on the terrible day of our last, intercede for us with our dying breaths, when the dark eyes of evil demons surround and frighten they will start us. Then be our helper and quick drive away of evil demons, and leader to the Kingdom of Heaven, where you now stand with the face of the saints at the Throne of God, pray to the Lord, that he will grant us also to be partakers of ever-present joy and joy, so that together with you we will be worthy of glorifying the Father and the Son and the Holy Comforter Spirit forever. Amen.

TROPARION, TONE 4

Thy martyr, O Lord, Tryphon, in his suffering received an imperishable crown from Thee, our God; Having Thy strength, overthrow the tormentors, crush the demons of weak insolence. Save his souls with your prayers.

IN TROPARION, TONE 4

Divine food, most blessed, enjoying in Heaven endlessly, glorifying your memory with songs, cover and preserve from all needs, drive away animals that harm the fields and always cry out to you in love: Rejoice, Tryphon, strengthening of the martyrs.

KONDAC, VOICE 8

With Trinitarian firmness, you destroyed polytheism from the end, you were all-glorious, you were honest in Christ, and, having defeated the tormentors, in Christ the Savior you received the crown of your martyrdom and the gift of Divine healings, as if you were invincible.

One saint, Pachomius the Great, asked God to teach him how to live. And then Pachomius sees the Angel. The angel first prayed, then began to work, then prayed again and again began to work. Pachomius did this all his life. Prayer without work will not feed you, and work without prayer will not help you.

Prayer is not a hindrance to work, but a help. You can pray in the shower while working, and this is much better than thinking about trifles. The more a person prays, the better his life is.

Prayer before starting any work, any business

Heavenly King, Comforter, Soul of truth, Who is everywhere and fulfills everything, Treasure of good things and Giver of life, come and dwell in us, and cleanse us from all filth, and save, O Good One, our souls.

Bless, Lord, and help me, a sinner, to complete the work I have begun, for Your glory.

Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of Your Father without beginning, You declared with Your most pure lips that without Me you cannot do anything. My Lord, Lord, with faith in my soul and heart spoken by You, I fall down in Your goodness: help me, a sinner, to complete this work, which I have begun, in You, in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, through the prayers of the Mother of God and all Your saints . Amen.

Prayer at the end of the case

You are the fulfillment of all good things, my Christ, fill my soul with joy and gladness and save me, for I am the only one who is most merciful, Lord, glory to you.

Hear us, Merciful and Almighty God, may Your grace be sent down through our prayer. Be merciful, Lord, to our prayer, remember Your law about the multiplication of the human race and be a merciful Patron, so that with Your help what You have established will be preserved. By Your sovereign power You created everything out of nothing and laid the foundation for everything that exists in the world - You created man in Your image and, with a sublime secret, sanctified the union of marriage as a foreshadowing of the mystery of the unity of Christ with the Church. Look, O Merciful One, on these servants... (names), united in a marital union and begging for Your help, may Thy mercy be upon them, may they be fruitful and may their sons see their sons even to the third and fourth generation, and may they live to the desired old age , and will enter the Kingdom of Heaven through our Lord Jesus Christ, to whom all glory, honor and worship is due with the Holy Spirit forever. Amen

A girl's prayer for marriage

Oh, All-Good Lord, I know that my great happiness depends on the fact that I love You with all my soul and with all my heart, and that I fulfill Your holy will in everything.
Rule Yourself, O my God, over my soul and fill my heart: I want to please You Alone, for You are the Creator and my God.
Save me from pride and self-love: let reason, modesty and chastity adorn me.
Idleness is disgusting to You and gives rise to vices, give me the desire to work hard and bless my labors.
Since Your Law commands people to live in an honest marriage, then lead me, Holy Father, to this title, sanctified by You, not to please my lust, but to fulfill Your destiny, for You Yourself said: it is not good for man to be alone and, having created He gave him a wife to help him, blessed them to grow, multiply and populate the earth.
Hear my humble prayer, sent to You from the depths of a girl’s heart; give me an honest and pious spouse, so that in love with him and in harmony we glorify You, the merciful God: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Prayer for children

(And put the sign of the cross on the child.)

A mother's prayer for her children

(compiled by St. Ambrose of Optina)
God! Creator of all creatures, adding mercy to mercy, You have made me worthy to be the mother of a family; Your grace has given me children, and I dare to say: they are Your children! Because You gave them existence, revived them with an immortal soul, revived them through baptism for a life in accordance with Your will, adopted them and accepted them into the bosom of Your Church.
