Do-it-yourself garden tire well. Budget drainage from old tires: how to organize drainage of the site with your own hands

A decorative well in the country has long ceased to be considered a sophistication, accessible only to wealthy owners. However, many summer residents still have many questions regarding its construction.

In the time of our ancestors, in every settlement one could definitely meet a well. In some places it has survived to this day, however, now this element of the backyard territory is no longer used as the main source of drinking water. If the summer resident has a desire to build a well on his site, then he does this solely to make the appearance of the backyard territory more aesthetic. And one cannot but agree with this, because a decorative well can not only decorate a summer cottage, but also make it original. But, unfortunately, not everyone knows how to make a decorative well.

    Possible options

    There are much fewer options for decorative buildings than traditional wells, and today the two most common varieties of these structures can be distinguished:

    1. 1 Log cabin with a chain built into a wooden drum, installed between two posts. The finishing touch of this structure is a bucket at the end of the chain. It is necessary for water intake, which is carried out by lowering the bucket into the well and then rotating the drum.
    2. 2 A decorative version of the well - the so-called shaduf. This design looks like a well with a "crane", assembled from logs connected to each other with hinges. Instead of a chain, a lever is used here, the role of which is played by a long log, at the end of which a bucket is fixed.

    Although the possibilities of summer residents allow you to choose any design of the well, most often you can find polygonal, round and quadrangular sections. Among them, the most complex device has round wells.

    Variety of styles

    For a decorative well, you can choose a wide variety of design styles. The final decision depends on the skills and imagination of the master. Be sure to remember that this building must be combined with other elements of the decor, and therefore it is so important to decide in advance how the decorative well will look like:

    1. 1 The most popular option is antique designs. In accordance with the traditions of our ancestors, such buildings necessarily have a rotator-drum, which has to be twisted in order to lower the bucket into the shaft and draw water.
    2. 2 Wells made in Sino-Japanese style. This decision will look original at the summer cottage of our compatriots. The design has a gabled roof with curves, on which soft tiles are laid. Such a well can be built of wood or stone.
    3. 3 Decorative wells made in a modern style. They are built using traditional materials - the base of the structure is made of concrete, tiles are chosen for the role of decor, and the roof is covered with polycarbonate sheets. This solution will look advantageous on any suburban area, decorated with modern materials.

    Remember: you are creating an element of landscape design, and therefore you need to first of all pay attention to the aesthetic component of the well.

    Ideas and materials

    For a well designed for outdoor installation, it is very important to choose the right material that must successfully withstand the effects of precipitation and tolerate temperature fluctuations. When choosing a decorative building option, one should proceed from the desired style decision and the financial resources that the owner is willing to spend on making the well.

    More often than others, summer residents opt for wooden decorative wells or stone structures. This choice is explained by the low cost of materials, as well as their ability to blend perfectly with other elements of landscape design. So that a wooden decorative well does not look too traditional, you can add intricate carvings, mesh lace elements to its design, which will help the well look original. But most summer residents are accustomed to being content with a traditional wooden frame. He will be able to decorate the backyard territory no worse than more decorative counterparts. Thanks to the treatment with an antiseptic, varnish, stain and other protective agents, this building will be able to remain attractive for a long time in any weather.

    Unfortunately, not always widely available ideas for making a decorative well are suitable for most owners. In this case, they should take matters into their own hands, show all their imagination and develop their own design for a decorative well, based on their existing building and carpentry skills. In fact, a decorative well is not such a complex structure that it would be impossible to make even with minimal knowledge in the field of construction and design. Moreover, this element of landscape design can be created from improvised materials, which, among other things, will provide significant savings.

    An example of one such idea would be a house-shaped structure made from pieces of logs and timber, fastened at the corners with nails. Do not be upset if, after completing the work, gaps are found between the structural elements of the decorative well for giving. Correcting such a defect is very simple - for this you need to plant climbing plants in suitable containers near the well or directly in the house.

    In the absence of lumber, thick branches or willow twigs can be used to create a decorative country well. Ordinary river snags, which must first be cleaned of bark, are suitable for the role of racks for the roof and the rotator. It is not necessary to look for a bucket for a decorative well - you can create its illusion using the usual trimming of a log that is tied to the free end of the chain. If you have children, then a well of this style of performance will cause them a storm of joy. But if you don't have enough lumber, you can build a tire well.

    In principle, you can make a decorative well with your own hands from any available materials.

    It can be bricks, stones, building blocks and even large pebbles. In order for the structure to take on a proper appearance, the building material can be fastened with a conventional cement mixture. In cases where the choice of building material for a decorative well is small, it is often necessary to use concrete, forged metal elements or brickwork. But even a lack of a certain type of building material can play into the hands of the owner: a decorative well, which is built of stone, metal and wood, will look even more beautiful and original.

    Before you start making a decorative well with your own hands, you must clearly understand what you want to end up with. To make it easier for you to decide on the characteristics that are most important to you, here are a few recommendations for planning a decorative well:

    1. 1 First you need to choose a suitable place for a decorative well, and this can be any flat area of ground. A suitable place for it can be a shaded corner of the garden, where you can not only admire the result of your work, but also relax. Sometimes decorative wells are used as decoration, masking the hatch of the caisson or water pipes. In this case, you need to choose such a design that it provides convenient access for servicing technical communications;
    2. 2 Considering the various options for a decorative well, try to maintain the overall design style. It follows from this that the roof of the well, like the roof of the main building on the site, must be made of the same material. Then your well will not spoil the picture with its view that does not fit into the concept of landscape design.
    3. 3 Before you start assembling the elements of the wooden structure of the decorative well, be sure to treat them with an antiseptic and other preparations to protect against moisture and insects. Toning and staining are operations that can be performed at the final stage of work.

    Following the above tips, you will make a minimum of mistakes and create a well that is as close as possible to your ideal.

    Building solutions

    Summer residents who decide to build a decorative well in the country with their own hands are driven not only by the desire to save on designer services. Many people want to show their personal creativity and imagination in order to have an extra reason for pride in front of their neighbors. When you select a design option that suits you in all respects and prepare all the necessary materials for its manufacture, be sure to draw a drawing of the future well. Otherwise, you may miss important details that you may later regret.

    Necessary building materials

    Making a simple version of the design of a decorative well is actually not so difficult. For this you will need:

    • cement;
    • water container;
    • trimming timber or logs;
    • material for the construction of the box (stone, brick);
    • roofing materials.

    Sequence of work

    Having finished the preparatory part, you can proceed to the manufacture of the design of the decorative well. Step-by-step instructions will help you to cope with this task much faster:

    1. 1 First of all, you will need a pit for a container of water. Please note that it should have a depth of about 25 cm, and it should have allowances on the sides. Be sure to lay a “pillow” of sand or small pebbles on the bottom and carefully tamp it down. It will give the structure greater stability. Then you can transfer the prepared water container to the recess, and the free zones on the sides must be filled with earth and also well tamped.
    2. 2 Then you can start strengthening the container: for this, we take the pillars for support and dig them into the ground, after which they need to be securely strengthened.
    3. 3 Now you need to think about the foundation. For him, we need to dig a trench 40 cm deep and fill it with concrete mortar;
    4. 4 When the concrete is completely hardened, we take a drill and make through holes for the anchors. We will need them to install the structure of the house for the well.
    5. 5 After that, we take the material that we have chosen for the construction of the well, and make a frame of the desired shape out of it. If you decide to work with stone or brick, then after laying the bottom row, you need to fix it on the anchors, and then lay out the frame from a similar material, but this time it is fastened with cement mortar. In the case of building a wooden box, we act in a similar way: first we lay the bottom row, and then fasten it with anchors. We fix the following rows of material with a concrete mixture. This laying method can also be used for a concrete ring. Its advantage is that upon completion of the main work, you can easily decorate it with improvised materials - stone, pieces of glass, decorative tiles.
    6. 6 Having finished the work on creating the box, we begin to install the drum on the supports, then we build the roof, and at the end we attach the roofing material to it.

    Additionally, you can decorate a decorative well for a garden, which can even be built from tires, with the help of weaving ampelous plants and a composition of perennials. In the latter case, it is desirable to select plants with different flowering periods. Then this design will give you coolness throughout the summer season. It is appropriate to complement the decorative well with a wicker fence, flower beds, outdoor flowerpots with plants planted in them.

    To build such a well with your own hands to decorate the site, you will need:

    • 3 old car tires
    • 2 identical pieces of timber or logs as a support for the roof,
    • roof material (wood, profiled sheet, plywood, etc.),
    • 4 pieces of thin timber for the roof frame,
    • fasteners (nails, screws),
    • dye,
    • a container in which you will plant flowers.

    To build such a flower bed is a matter of several hours.

    • It is necessary to make slots in the tires into which the pieces of timber will be inserted. They will hold the roof. The cuts can be made with a knife or saw. It is also possible to install supports outside the tires.
    • Tires are placed on top of each other so that the cutouts match.
    • Bars are inserted into the cutouts and hammered into the ground.
    • After that, the design needs to be painted.

    Attention! There may be residues of machine oil on the tires, so they must be prepared: washed with detergent, dried, wiped with a degreasing agent (gasoline, alcohol, acetone).

    The paint that is suitable for painting such a well is

    • oil (sticks well, but lasts no more than a few seasons, then you will need to renew),
    • enamel,
    • bituminous,
    • rubber (there is no rubber in the composition, but this paint is elastic and will not crack when the tires expand or contract with changes in temperature).

    It is most convenient to paint a tire well with a spray gun or from a spray can. After the paint has dried, you can apply the pattern with a brush.

    The roof can be made gable or shed. It will look good if it is covered with real roofing material, for example, slate, corrugated board, boards. The roof frame is made in the form of a lattice of thin bars.

    When the well is ready, a flower container is placed inside. It doesn't have to reach the bottom. If it is smaller, then you can put a stand in the well, and already on it - a container.

    What else can decorative tire wells be used for?

    • Decorative well around the trees. To do this, take 2-3 tires. Such a well is made only around young trees.
    • Lamp. A lantern can be placed under the roof of the well, and it is not necessary to conduct electricity for this. You can use flashlights on photocells, which are charged by the sun during the day, and after dark they begin to glow. If you want to use an electric torch, you must lay the power cable in compliance with all safety regulations.
    • Element of the playground. A decorative well may well become a place for children's games. From tires, you can make other designs for the playground.

    Also, the well can be decorated more interestingly. To do this, it is coated with plaster or cement and stones or tiles are glued. From a plastic bottle or a piece of log, you can make an imitation of a well gate. On the gate you can hang a bucket in which to plant flowers.

    A well above a drainage pit or septic tank

    It's not exactly decorative anymore. A septic tank is a variant of the sewer, which consists of two pits. Effluent flows directly into the first pit, where they are processed by bacteria, and the liquid partially neutralized in this way enters the second pit, where waste is also processed by bacteria. After that, almost pure water is absorbed into the soil.

    Important! You can arrange a septic tank where groundwater occurs at a depth of at least 5 m.

    Used car tires have proven themselves well as rings for such septic tanks. To make a septic tank with your own hands, you need to dig a hole and place tires in it according to the diagram. The figure shows a septic tank with or without a drain pipe.

    The volume of the septic tank should be such that three average daily volumes of wastewater can fit in it. Based on this, it is necessary to calculate the depth and width of the well and, accordingly, the number of tires. It must also be taken into account that the water level should never be higher than the ground level. One tire is placed on the ground and the boundaries of the pit are marked. You can dig a hole a little wider so that it is more convenient to lay tires and have the opportunity to insulate the well. You need two such wells, arrange them as shown in the figure.

    • A layer of crushed stone about 30 cm thick is poured at the bottom of the first well, it is best to pour a concrete screed on top. A more budgetary, but less reliable option is to put roofing material or another material that does not let water through.
    • In the second well, a well is drilled with a depth of about 5 m, where a plastic pipe is lowered. Through it, water will be absorbed into the soil. A layer of rubble is also poured on top.
    • After that, the tires are laid. They are pulled together with wire, and the gaps are filled with waterproof sealant.
    • Further, a pipe is laid from one pit to another; for this, holes are made in the tires. Also, a pipe is laid from the house to the first well, through which water will be discharged. It should be slightly higher than the pipe through which the pipe goes to the second well.

    Important! The main advantage of such a tire septic tank is its cheapness, but it does not last very long, about 15 years. It is impossible to overhaul it, therefore, in case of serious damage, you will have to arrange a new one. The condition of the septic tank should be checked every year.

    It is necessary to have a septic tank

    • not less than 5-10 m from the house,
    • from a well with drinking water - at least 30 m on sandy soil and at least 25 m on clay soil,
    • at least 2 m from trees,
    • from the neighboring site - also at least 2 m.

    A septic tank works best on sandy soil. It is advisable to do it where the soil does not freeze to a great depth.

    How to make a tire well

    You can build a swing, a flower bed, slides, figures of fairy-tale characters, garden furniture and much more from tires. The article discusses the main ways to use car tires, for which you can use a tire well, how to decorate materials in a country style.

    Homeowners often face the problem of lack of water. Do not throw away old tires, you can create a well from tires using available funds and other interesting ideas for a garden or plot. They build such wells of different models and shapes, using improvised materials. The device creates not only a beautiful decor on the site, but also becomes a useful source of water for household needs or a septic tank.

    A tire well is the perfect addition to your garden and is so easy to make. Follow the step by step guide here and you will have your very own wishing well planter in just a few hours.

    The principle of building a well from tires

    Now, recycled tires are likely to be used in everything from playground and road surfaces to water control installations. All of these applications use a strong, durable and readily available material. They also require quite a lot of handling. The strength and durability of tires make them attractive as a building material and typically require relatively minimal processing, but with maximum knowledge of the construction process.

    As with any decorative design, it is necessary to determine the location of the well on the site. The choice depends on the purpose of creating the well, the size of the available tires. If the building will perform only a decorating function, then the best place would be near the flower garden or in a free area where the ground is soft. If you plan to use a tire well to collect rainwater to water plants or a fire extinguisher, then it is better to locate the building next to the house, but not less than 5 meters.

    When choosing a site, it is important to take into account the existing sewer lines and pipelines laid in the ground, possible sources of pollution and the density of the soil, as excavation will be required.

    The well construction process is divided into three steps:

    • digging/laying the bottom
    • creation of a mine
    • canopy construction.

    At the stage of excavation, it is necessary to maintain digging norms, as for a drinking well, only the depth will be much less. Digging is allowed at a distance of at least 50 meters (sanitary zone) from sources of pollution. They dig a hole to the depth of the height of the tires that you want to install, and a width of 20 centimeters more than the outer diameter of the tire. Usually 2-3 tires are installed / buried in the ground, so the depth of the source, or rather the distance of water storage, includes walls above the ground. Therefore, it is important to form an airtight well.

    Shaft and shed construction

    Install the first tire on the ground, measure and fix the places for the support pegs. A small hole is dug in the marked place to install the posts. For additional fixation of the tires, the base for the pegs can be reinforced with bricks or concreted.

    After making sure that the first tire lies tightly in the pit, they lay 2-3 from above to the ground level so that the support pegs fix the straightness of the structure. For the strength of the building, it is recommended to glue the tires together with a moisture-resistant adhesive for rubber. Then the remaining distance of the mine on the sides of the tires is covered with soil, stones or expanded clay.

    Usually 2-3 tires are laid on top above ground level. The amount depends on the design of the well and the size of the canopy. Installing more than three tires above the ground is not recommended.

    Level the ground and remove any grass or rocks around the tires. Create a support as a guide with bricks/stones around the well. This will strengthen the structure, because the building will store water.

    The last step is the construction of the roof / canopy. In order for the well to have an attractive appearance, it is first necessary to cut the driven columns in height. It is better to make a canopy from special roofing material or wooden boards, since the rubber material of the tires tends to bend and become flexible at high temperatures.

    Stages of roof construction:

    • installation of supports for a canopy. The design is created like the roof of a drinking well. Vertical posts hold the roof frame;
    • flooring of roofing material or boards, slate, metal tiles, roofing material.

    The canopy model can be of any shape: one pitched or two-pitched. For the roof, it is necessary to think over the fastening of the bucket and the mechanism for raising it. On the gate you can hang a bucket in which to plant flowers.

    If you decide to abandon the look of a classic well, then a crane well will become an interesting decor. To do this, you need to attach a bucket to a pole and secure it against the walls. And so that the well does not become clogged, make or find a simple removable cover.

    Decorating and painting

    Oil-based dyes are not used for painting tires. It is strongly not recommended to use oil paints for hot regions, if you do not want the decorative well to be lost in six months.

    For painting tires, enamel, bituminous and acrylic paints are the best choice. The best option is rubber paint, which stands out for its ability to stretch and shrink, which allows you to balance between sudden changes in temperature. In this case, rubber paint is coated on the same flexible material, which will provide a reliable coating.

    Before painting tires, make sure that there are no greasy spots left on the surface of the rubber, otherwise the paint will not stick well and fall off over time. Painting instructions:

    Stages of painting a decorative well

    • Rinse the well with detergent solutions. Dry the washed surface in the sun;
    • Degrease the rubber with acetone, gasoline or alcohol;
    • Applying a coat of paint. To paint tires, you can use an ordinary brush or paint in spray cans.
    • To paint the roof / canopy, it is better to use varnishes and paints corresponding to the materials, special attention should be paid to wooden elements.
    • Dry the building for several days
    • Apply decorative patterns with a thin brush.

    A tire well can be painted in any style and create a unique design. To do this, it is formed with plaster or cement, laid with bricks or outlined with paints, lined with stone or tiles. The well shaft is the main element of the decor, on which it will be possible to work in the future. In the meantime, stop work and admire the resulting building.

    Tires can be used to create many different things to decorate a built well or to improve a territory. The tire material is easy to work with. In addition to a tire well, you can install a variety of flower beds, figurines, garbage containers, a small pond or fountain nearby.

    The principle of the device of a septic tank from wheels

    A septic tank made of wheels is a structure filled with drain liquid. It is in such a tank that sewage water is settled and its bacterial purification is carried out.

    In order for the construction to turn out to be reliable, it is necessary to follow certain rules. Given certain principles, it can be expected that the end result will meet the specified requirements.

    For the manufacture of a septic tank, you need to use whole tires

    1. Groundwater should be located no higher than a depth of 2 m. Otherwise, the plastic material is threatened with erosion and shifts, and sometimes the product is deformed.
    2. When making a well for a drain pit, you should pay attention to the composition of the soil. It is preferable that it be sandy. A similar composition will help to make better drainage of the liquid.
    3. The pit under the sewer tank must be located below the freezing point of the soil. Even at the planning stage, the optimal depth should be foreseen.
    4. When planning the location of the septic tank, it is important that the structure is well placed relative to the house and water points. The optimal distance from the dwelling is 5 m, and from the well - at least 20 m.

    If all the above requirements for the organization of sewerage from tires are observed, it will be possible to prevent possible environmental problems.

    Advantages and disadvantages of the design

    If it is decided to use a septic tank made of tires as a sewer facility, it is necessary to have an idea about its features. Such a reservoir is characterized by positive properties, but has some disadvantages.

    The advantages of a tire well:

    • The sewer system does not require significant costs, if desired, everyone can organize a septic tank without special skills;
    • The structure is easy to erect on your own (one person can easily mount the cameras);
    • Such a well can last up to 15 years, so it is often used in summer cottages.

    However, in addition to the positive characteristics, this type of structure also has disadvantages:

    • Plastic material is subject to the negative effects of various aggressive environments;
    • Sometimes, due to improper installation of the septic tank, the soil becomes mobile, or it begins to heave, which provokes depressurization of the tanks;
    • There is no point in repairing the building. If the sewer cleaning system is damaged, it is necessary to rebuild the septic tank, but you will need to choose a new location.

    The main advantage of a tire septic tank is its low price.

    Many owners note the occurrence of an unpleasant odor from a tank of car tires. To remedy the situation, it is recommended to install a special fan pipe. Masters are advised to make sure that the level of the pipe is higher than residential buildings.

    Types of sewerage from tires

    There are several options for tire tanks. Each of the septic tanks is characterized by its own characteristics.

    It is customary to distinguish three types of wheel structures:

    • The system has a filter system;
    • The structure includes an absorption well and a sump;
    • In addition to the filter system, a drainage pipe is provided.

    When choosing a design, one should be guided by the amount of waste fluid. So, for a large family, it is better to make a septic tank, which provides a sump.

    Features of the functioning of the tank with a filtration system:

    • Initially, waste water enters the tank;
    • The insoluble part of the effluent is retained by a special drainage layer;
    • The filtered liquid goes into the ground.

    A septic tank with filtration is not intended for the processing of fecal matter. This facility should only be used to collect contaminated liquid after washing, washing dishes, etc.

    Tires should be fastened together

    A tank with filtration and a sump is considered more durable. After the liquid enters the sewer (the first tank), large components are retained in the sump. The rest of the more liquid part penetrates the filter tank. This design is the most environmentally friendly option. However, a septic tank requires regular pumping of sewage.

    Step by step instructions for making

    After choosing a place for a sewer structure made of tires, you should consider what volume will be optimal. Professionals recommend taking into account that the size of the reservoir should be sufficient to accept three times the amount of daily volumes of liquid.

    If necessary, a septic tank from tires can be concreted

    Sequence of work:

    1. For the initial tank, a tire is used, along which it is necessary to mark the dimensions of the well. For the second container, you can use a larger tire, because the second well needs to be made larger. Next, you should dig a hole of the required size.
    2. The bottom of the well should not let sewage into the ground. To prevent this, you can make a special clay plug with your own hands (at least 20 cm wide) or concrete the bottom.
    3. The upper part is carefully removed from the surface of the tire material, so that the structure will become even. Next, the wheels are stacked on top of each other. To make the structure more durable, it is recommended to tie the tires in pairs. At a height of 2/3 from the bottom, a transition pipe is installed between the wells. And in the first tire, a hole is made for the sewer pipe.
    4. It remains to lay and fix the pipe, fill the hole without damaging the integrity of the structure.

    Due to its low cost and ease of installation, a tire septic tank has earned positive reviews from many owners. Such a structure will be an excellent solution for a summer cottage. However, during its construction, it is important to properly perform installation work and take care of a good drainage system.

    I want to give advice to everyone who needs a cellar-basement, but who cannot put it up either because of the lack of free territory, or because they are simply not able to build a traditional cellar made of bricks, blocks, timber for material reasons.

    I do not advise you to make a wooden cellar - this is not for long. My advice is this: do not be too lazy to travel around collective farm and state farm landfills, where old cylinders from tractors K-700, MTZ-80, T-150 may be. From these cylinders it is not at all difficult to make a good, roomy enough, and most importantly, durable basement for your preparations for the winter.

    First, dig a round hole of the desired depth. Then, for all tire cylinders, except for one, we cut one sidewall in a circle, as shown in fig. 2. We do not touch the second sidewall, this is the future shelf. They start laying cylinders in the pit with cylinders from the K-700 tractor, since they are much heavier and tougher than others. We orient this cylinder with the remaining sidewall down, then we install other cylinders on it in turn until we build the walls of the cellar to the desired height. As already mentioned, we did not cut off the sidewall of one large cylinder. This balloon will crown our construction. And a smaller balloon (from the T-150) will fall on it, which will play the role of a hatch.

    Personally, I insulate the hatch balloon from the inside with bags of straw, and install a wooden cover on top. Don't forget to also arrange ventilation, if necessary. To do this, it is enough to cut a hole in the sides of the balloon hatch and insert a pipe with a diameter of 50 mm into it. And here's another tip. To make the cylinders easier to cut, water the cutting area with water. Personally, such a basement suited me. Indeed, on the sidewall-shelf of one cylinder from MTZ-80 - you probably won’t believe me - there are twenty-four 3-liter cans.

    Now I will tell you about an episode that occurred during the construction of my cellar from tires. It is the best evidence of how quickly such a cellar can be made. And here's what happened. When I had the pit ready, it began to rain, and quite good. In a panic, he ran to a friend (he worked on a truck) and with his help brought several necessary cylinders. However, there were not enough of them, so I went on a tractor to look for the missing ones. I spent the entire basement wall-building operation in the rain, but in just three hours it was possible to close the lid of the new vault. Many still do not believe that everything was done so quickly, but it's true.

    For three years the cellar has served me faithfully. By the way, in such basements there are no rats and mice, it is clear that they do not like rubber. I do not recommend cementing the bottom. Make your own stairs. I personally do without it at all. But the basement has one minus: it is not suitable for fat people - there is not enough space.
    In a word, try to make a similar basement. You will not regret!

    Why are drainage wells needed?

    At its core, drainage is a complex of hydrotechnical measures to protect structures and land from the effects of excess moisture formed due to precipitation, floods, seasonal rise in groundwater levels, etc. Any, even the most durable structures, begin to gradually collapse if unplanned water undermines the foundation. Fertile lands flooded with water for a long time will simply lose all their best qualities.

    These circumstances lead to the need to protect buildings and your site from dangerous influences, especially in areas with high natural humidity. For this purpose, a special drainage system is manufactured, which solves specific problems: collection, diversion, removal and disposal of excess water mass. Such systems are created by hand, but taking into account the recommendations of experts.

    Structurally, drainage complexes include the following components:

    1. Water elements. They are placed directly in the flood zone and can be formed in the form of trenches, to which pipe drains are connected.
    2. Main elements: pipeline (drains) or a system of trenches for water diversion.
    3. Recycling items. This part completes the process, that is, it performs the final operation: the accumulation of water or its discharge into the soil in a safe place.
    4. Additional operating elements. These include regulating and locking devices, fixtures and structures for the operation and repair of the system.

    The drainage well is considered an important part of the entire drainage system. It can perform recycling functions (the main task) or play the role of an additional operational element. The functioning and efficiency of the entire system depend on the reliability and correctness of its installation. In particular, its volume should allow collecting all the water drained, otherwise the drainage simply will not provide the required drainage.

    What wells are included in the system

    When providing drainage with your own hands, the following types of drainage wells are provided:

    1. Rotary option. Such wells are installed with an extended pipeline at the following points: through one turn of the pipe and at the place where several pipes converge into one line. The task to be solved is the cleaning of pipes (drains), since mud plugs often occur in the bends.
    2. absorption type. These structures do not require prefabricated and main elements. They are dug out at different points of the accumulation of water, which itself flows into the wells. When installing such structures, it is important to form a surface slope so that moisture flows into them by itself.
    3. Water wells. At their core, these are sealed containers into which all the collected moisture flows through drains. As they fill up, water is pumped out or used for technical needs, for example, for irrigation.
    4. Filter structures are the final element of the drainage system, located in a remote area where water can be discharged into the ground. In principle, this is a variant of a water intake well, in which the bottom is not hermetic, but is made in the form of a natural filter. Water seeps through the bottom zone into the soil.

    The design of drainage wells depends on the task to be performed, and this difference is mainly due to the structure of the bottom area. The bottom can be equipped in two ways: to be sealed in the form of concrete pouring or leaky, based on a pillow of sand and gravel. The well shaft has a depth sufficient to accumulate the required volume of water.

    Most often, it is 3-5 m. The wall of the mine must have waterproofing, which excludes the infiltration of the collected moisture into the upper layers of the soil. Finally, the top plate and hatch complete the structure. A ladder is installed in the production wells inside the mine.

    Tire wells

    When making a drainage well from car tires, you will need the following tools:

    • shovel bayonet and shovel;
    • a bucket and a strong cable for its immersion when excavating and backfilling the pillow;
    • Master OK;
    • putty knife;
    • roulette;
    • plumb;
    • building level.

    When building a drainage well with your own hands, an important task is set - the maximum cost reduction of the structure. In this direction, the manufacture of the shaft wall from improvised means solves such a problem. One of the most common materials has become a car tire. What are the advantages of this "building material"?

    First, accessibility. Used tires are, in principle, garbage, which any car showrooms can easily get rid of. Second, properties. Rubber provides waterproofing, and the reinforced carcass provides mechanical strength.

    Tires from trucks are best for building a well with your own hands. Their diameter is quite suitable for construction, and the width will reduce labor intensity. In addition, their strength is very high, which will hold back any ground movements.

    The construction of a well from tires is carried out in the following order:

    1. Digging a mine. We dig a round hole by hand. The diameter is selected 20-25 cm larger than the outer diameter of the tires. The depth is calculated taking into account specific volumes of water and, as a rule, is 3-3.5 m.
    2. Bottom arrangement. When forming a sealed bottom, a pillow is first filled in from a mixture of sand and crushed stone 15-25 cm thick, and then concrete 10-15 cm thick is poured. each.
    3. Tire laying. Each tire is laid on the previous layer strictly along one axis, so that the entire column is strictly vertical. During installation, the inner cavity of the tire is filled with crushed stone, pebbles or expanded clay in order to reduce the overall shrinkage of the column. In addition, the weighting of the elements allows for a tighter fit to each other.
    4. The gap between the tires and the ground is filled with crushed stone, pebbles or broken bricks. As the gap is filled, a thorough ramming is performed. When backfilling, it is necessary to control the location of the tires, preventing their displacement relative to the vertical.
    5. Introduction of a drainage pipe. To introduce the drain into the well, a hole is cut on the side of the tire along the diameter of the pipe. After it is pushed through, the joint is sealed.
    6. Formation of the top plate. On top of the shaft, lined with car tires, a slab with a hole for a hatch is laid. It is best to use a standard concrete well slab, but a metal sheet can be used. The hatch is closed with a metal or reinforced concrete lid with handles.

    The drainage well is a necessary element of the system to eliminate excess moisture. To reduce the cost of construction, it can be built from tires of trucks or tractors, which will provide the necessary tightness and strength of the well wall. All work can be easily done by hand.

    » article about well, drainage pit and septic tank from tires. In the article, we will tell and show how old car tires (found for free) easily and effectively replace expensive concrete rings.

    A well, a drainage pit and a septic tank made of tires are combined into one article, since the principle of their manufacture is exactly the same. Only some technical details differ. Well, the location is desirable 🙂

    The upper aquifers in large hilly areas are located at a depth of three to eight to nine meters.

    Having calculated the required number of car tires (to the maximum), without fail having acquired them (only in this order), we begin to dig.

    Tires are pre-treated with non-toxic bituminous varnish. This is done to increase the life of automotive rubber and completely prevent the ingress of harmful substances released during prolonged contact of technical rubber with water (especially hard, which often happens at shallow depths).

    In the case of careful processing of tires with a very dense layer of bitumen, it is possible, by picking up, to link them together with a special rubber antiseptic and water-resistant glue, which will significantly increase the strength of the resulting structure.

    When installing each tire on the sides, fill in crushed stone, broken brick - to improve the drainage of the well and prevent silting.

    Having dug down to a very wet rock (we make a window twenty centimeters in diameter more, for subsequent backfilling and tamping of the clay “casing”), we quickly go deeper another thirty centimeters, and urgently fall asleep fifty centimeters, previously cleaned crushed granite of medium fraction, to the bottom, and strengthen two bottom tire rings. (It is better to glue them and dry them, if you still decide on this, still at the top).

    We lay out the rest of the tires in the same way, each “wrapping” in clay. Above ground level, the well is usually raised seventy centimeters, a roof and doors are made, a mechanism for raising water or its automatic pumping out.

    Cover the bottom of the well with rubble, pebbles and a layer of sand. This is a specific return water filter; so the water will be cleaner.

    A blind area is made around the well. The simplest is tamping and watering gravel. More difficult - rammed clay (so that rainwater does not seep through). Even more complex is the usual cement blind area.

    Scheme of a storage well from tires:

    1 - guide stakes; 2 - pebbles, gravel, crushed stone; 3 - sand; 4 - water; 5 - tires; 6 - pump assembly; 7 - rubber band; 8 - twine; 9 - drainage holes of the sidewalls; 10 - bar for pump suspension; 11 - hose; 12- valve in the tire; 13- cover; 14 - electric cable.

    To minimize the vibration of the pump, it can be hung on a rubber band.

    Features of the absorption well made of tires:

    The drain pipe can be inserted between the first and second tires or into a hole cut in the second tire from the top. If the pipe is carried between tires, it is advisable to cut a half-hole in each of them. Several pipes can be run into one well.

    To make the well less clogged, it is necessary to have ordinary sedimentation tanks on the sinks, and on the drain hatches in the bath or shower room - a filter grate that protects the drain from debris and leaves. The well is easily dismantled, it is easy to transfer it to any place on the site, you can dig it under the bed and under the path.

    Some people think that the soapy water that accumulates in the well is harmful to the garden. On the contrary, for acidic soils, a soapy (alkaline) medium is even useful. But this does not apply to water from under washing powders.

    The absorbing well should be closed (so that there is less smell). If you have a drainage hole, or you do not want to look into the well for years, then here is the recipe:

    On the top tire, cut pipes or bars of 12-15 millimeters are laid - a support for the cover. The lid is wooden or metal. If it is of sufficient thickness and will not sag under the load, you can put it directly on the tire. Having attached the lid, the well is covered with earth, preferably with a layer of at least 250-300 millimeters. Tires should be tightly pressed against each other.

    If you want to look into the well, pump out the masses and so on, then it is worth spending money on a good cover.

    Features of a two-chamber septic tank from tires:

    The place should not be far from the house and the road. In the first case, we do not have to pull a long pipe from the house to the septic tank, which can simply freeze in the winter, in the second case, the possibility of a specialized machine driving up to the septic tank to remove accumulated sewage. We decided on the place.

    Then let's start marking and digging two holes for the old tires. The dimensions of the pits depend on the diameter of the old tires that you have prepared in advance and on the intended depth of the pits. The first hole should be less deep. Here the main part of the silt will settle. In the second pit, from which the liquid will be sucked out, already settled liquid will accumulate.

    From the house, under the foundation below the freezing level, we will lay a plastic pipe with a diameter of 100 mm (this diameter is quite enough for the normal operation of the septic tank) leading to the first well through a makeshift slot in the surface of the tire. At a distance of 2/3 from the bottom of the first pit, we will lay a connecting pipe with a second well through the slots in the tires. It is desirable to concrete the bottom of the wells, although a 20 cm clay plug is enough. It is also necessary to build covers for the septic tank wells for safety reasons.

    So, a well and a septic tank from tires are made quite simply.

    And, most importantly, cheaper than concrete.

    With reliability, of course, you can argue. But there's a lot to argue about...

    Everyone dreams of going to their well for water, unless, of course, the source of this life-giving moisture is nearby. In order to fetch water without wasting time, it is necessary to create a well on the property with your own hands. This is not too laborious and lengthy, but the effort will have to be made.

    Finding a place for a well

    To start building a well, you first need to find out exactly where the groundwater is located, as well as at what level it flows. Traditionally, the role of water carriers is played by sand and clay, and already under these layers there is a rock that does not let water in.

    How and where to dig a hole for a country well? This question is reasonable to ask neighbors. When groundwater is located at the same depth, then the conclusion is much easier to make: the location of the water is the same over several square meters. If there are no such structures near the site belonging to the initiator of the construction of the well, then it will be difficult to determine immediately where it is necessary to dig a well.

    When everything is clear with the place, you need to choose the type of well. There are pipe, mine, drilling facilities, but it is easier and more economical to make it from tires.

    Back to index

    There are tires - you can build

    Materials:

    • bituminous varnish;
    • tires;
    • gravel;
    • bars;
    • boards;
    • nails;
    • antiseptic glue.

    Tools:

    • shovel;
    • brush;
    • hammer.

    Having calculated the depth of water flow underground and choosing a place for the future well, it is necessary to prepare pre-assembled tires and calculate how much they will be needed. Usually four or five car tires are used.

    Next, you need to increase the value of the tire diameter: at a distance of 5 cm from the tread, a ring should be cut. For these purposes, the knife used in the work should be moistened in soapy water. Then the tire must be treated with bituminous varnish. This should be done so that the tire well will serve the summer resident much longer. Thanks to this measure, substances harmful to humans after contact between the rubber tire and water will not be in the liquid intended for drinking.

    Tires of any diameter can be used for the well.

    After that, it is necessary to prepare a hole, which in its diameter will be 20 cm wider than the tires. Then the bottom is covered with a layer of gravel (width - 40 cm). Now you can place car tires. So that this or that tire does not move, it is necessary, after installing the first automobile tire, to drive four bars along its sides. The tire is laid to the tire, among them are rubber trims. The gaps formed between the soil and the tires must be filled with crushed stone. Tires that will be placed already above earthen ground do not need additional rubber layers.

    Some advise bonding tires with an adhesive designed for rubber and resistant to water. This recommendation will give the resulting tire structure some strength.

    Above the earthen surface, the well, where the base is the tire, rises by about 70 cm. Next, a cover is made of wooden boards or a canopy. After, depending on the preferences of the owner, they make a device to raise a bucket of water, or install an automatic pumping system. The preferred option is to use pumps with overheating protection.

    Around the well, created from car tires, a waterproof coating is made. Its simplest option: tamp and then water the gravel. It will be a little more difficult to make a blind area from rammed clay or cement.

    Old car tires can lie around in a garage or shed in the country for years. Meanwhile, used tires are an excellent building material, using which you can correctly decorate the site. A decorative well built from these improvised means is able to give the country landscape a special cozy flavor.

    Making a decorative well from tires for the garden

    Having shown a bit of imagination, you can create a masterpiece of landscape architecture from your used tires. It is extremely simple to do this, such work is within the power of any not very experienced home master and even an active housewife.

    A tire well can be installed not only in the garden, but also on the playground

    This will require:

    • several (from 2 to 4) used tires of the same size and with the same tread pattern;
    • blanks for support posts supporting the roof (bars, thin logs, pipes or metal profiles, etc.);
    • boards for the roof frame (6-8 pieces);
    • roofing (profiled sheet, slate, boards, tiles, etc.);
    • fasteners (bolts, nails, screws, self-tapping screws, ties, corners, etc.);
    • file, knife or jigsaw;
    • spray gun or paint brushes;
    • dye.

    You can make a lot of interesting things out of old tires.

    First you need to decide on the method of fastening the supports (racks):

    • outside of the tire surface;
    • inside the structure;
    • directly in the tires with the cutting of the corresponding holes (the preferred option, since the whole structure will be more stable and reliable).

    If it is planned to mount the roof on a metal structure, then it is better to draw everything on paper in advance and calculate the dimensions of the blanks.

    The well construction algorithm is as follows:

    1. Having previously measured the outer diameter of the tires, they dig a shallow (about 7-10 cm) groove in a circle at the chosen place.
    2. They mark the location of the supports, where they are later buried to a depth of at least 40–50 cm (if desired, they can be poured with concrete mortar).
    3. In tires with a saw, a jigsaw or a sharp knife, holes are made for the racks.

      Using a jigsaw, make holes in the tires for the racks

    4. In the prepared hole, the tires are stacked sequentially on top of each other, while the slots must exactly match.
    5. Supports are inserted into the holes dug in advance through the slots in the tires, their height should be the same. The upper ends are connected with a wooden block.
    6. For stability, several large stones, construction debris, gravel are laid at the bottom of the well.
    7. Assemble the frame of the canopy from the bars. The roof can be a simple shed; for this, the lattice flooring is knocked down in the shape of a rectangle. For a gable roof, you will need two of these elements, connected at an angle to each other.

      From the bars and boards collect the roof

    8. Then the roofing material is laid. The ridge (the joint at the top) is covered with a metal corner or a piece of rubber.

      The roof of the well can be made of wood

    9. Nail the crossbar between the vertical posts for hanging decorative planters.

    The roof of the decorative well can be covered using the same old tires. To do this, they are cut lengthwise, then divided into three equal parts. The resulting pieces are laid on a crate with an overlap.

    The roof of the well is sometimes covered with rubber from car tires.

    The resulting design is not particularly decorative. In order for the well to harmoniously fit into the surrounding landscape, it needs to be properly decorated.. Imitation of natural materials looks best (stone or brickwork, wooden beams, etc.). You can use various ornaments (eclecticism, turtle shell, reptile skin, etc.).

    Looks best imitation under brick or stone

    The easiest option is coloring. Enamel based on bitumen or acrylic is suitable for this. You can use ordinary oil paint, but it will not last long. This coverage will need to be renewed annually. Experienced experts advise special rubber paint, which has greater elasticity. The ink layer expands and contracts with temperature changes along with the rubber base.

    The easiest way to just paint the tires

    Painting instructions:

    1. First, the tires must be thoroughly washed using soapy detergents.
    2. Then they are dried.
    3. Degrease using chemicals (solvent, alcohol, acetone, etc.). Carefully remove all oil and grease stains (if they are not washed off with soapy water).
    4. Apply the base coat of paint. It is more convenient to use a spray gun or spray paint.
    5. Dry for 3-4 days.
    6. Then a drawing is applied with a thin brush or through a stencil.

    It is possible to cover the tires with decorative plaster
    The decor under the stone looks very impressive Inside the well, a flower bed is often arranged. For decoration, you can hang a bucket on a rope. A brightly colored decorative well can decorate a playground

    Our neighbors went further and decorated a similar well more creatively. They plastered the tires with a plaster compound, then glued them with flat stones, typed on the bank of the stream. Earth was poured inside the well and climbing petunias were planted.
