What are metal-plastic windows. Sliding metal-plastic structures

Compared to other types of doors, metal-plastic structures have appeared on our market relatively recently. Despite this, they gained popularity very quickly. Such doors can be installed both at the entrance to the premises and inside, and for a modern balcony this is practically the only solution. Depending on the purpose, such a structure will differ in the profile of the sashes, the method of reinforcement, the fittings used and the dimensions.

Although metal-plastic doors have a similar design to plastic windows, they are manufactured in accordance with higher requirements.

A metal-plastic door consists of the following elements.

  1. Frame. For the manufacture of the front door, a five-chamber profile is used, and a reinforcing belt is used to strengthen it. Interior and balcony doors can also be made from a three-dimensional frame, but the more cameras there are, the higher the strength, heat and sound insulation characteristics of the frame will be. The presence of an armored belt allows you to install reliable locking devices, as well as powerful hinges.

    For entrance and balcony doors, it is better to choose products from a five-chamber profile.

  2. Door leaf. As in the manufacture of the frame, only a five-chamber profile is used for the entrance structures. To fill the canvas, metal sheets are used, between which insulation is laid. Metal sheets are not installed in balcony and interior doors, but they are also filled with insulation, which improves their heat and sound insulation characteristics. If a double-glazed window is required, then armored glass is usually installed on the front doors, and tempered glass or triplex is installed on the interior and balcony doors.

    The door leaf can have glass inserts made of tempered or armored glass, depending on the purpose of the structure

  3. Locking devices. To ensure safety, crossbar locks are installed on the entrance doors, which lock the canvases around its entire perimeter. For balcony and interior doors, other, less reliable types of locks can be used.
  4. Handles, hinges. There is a large selection of fittings, which differ not only in appearance, but also in the quality of workmanship. For entrance doors, three hinges are used, since the weight of their canvases is greater, in other cases there can be two hinges.
  5. Sealing elements. They provide a high tightness of the structure.

    Quality doors usually contain two sealing circuits - one on the frame and the other on the door leaf.

  6. Threshold. For entrance metal-plastic doors, this element can be frame, steel and aluminum.

    Depending on the purpose of the door and the height, the thresholds can have a different design

  7. Decor elements. There are many options that allow you to implement different design solutions. Plastic can be painted in different colors, so choosing such doors will be easy for any home. In addition, on the surface of the structure, it is possible to perform decorative processing, reminiscent of woodcarving, so that an ordinary person cannot distinguish a canvas made of polymer from one made of natural solid wood.

If we talk about the entrance metal-plastic door, then a high-quality product must weigh at least 100 kg and have a profile thickness of at least 70 mm.

The main advantages of metal-plastic doors:

  • high thermal insulation characteristics of plastic and the presence of seals. Entrance doors effectively save heat in the house, interior doors provide good sound insulation;
  • a large selection of colors. You can choose a canvas for any interior, as well as imitate different types of wood or other materials;
  • long service life. Even after 5–10 years of correct operation, such structures do not lose their original characteristics;
  • the convenience of use. Metal-plastic doors do not need to be painted periodically, and regular cleaning is just wiping with a damp sponge;
  • relatively light weight. For transportation and installation, no special equipment or special tools are needed;
  • maintainability. If the web has subsided, you can restore its original position yourself by adjusting the loops.

Varieties of metal-plastic doors

Modern technologies make it possible to manufacture doors of any size and for different purposes from a metal-plastic profile. They are classified according to several criteria.

  1. Appointment. Doors can be entrance, interior or balcony. The latter are practically no different from the entrance ones, but they usually have a ventilation function. Double-glazed windows with impact-resistant glass are installed on the entrance canvases, but if the safety requirements are low, then the glazing can be ordinary.
  2. Opening method and design features. Reinforced-plastic doors are hinged, sliding and folding with one- or two-leaf rectangular or arched canvases.
  3. Design solution. The appearance may differ depending on the selected design, color, position and direction of the profile, the presence or absence of glass or a pattern on the surface of the canvas.

Interior doors made of plastic with a metal base

Reinforced-plastic doors are the most common and affordable solution with which doorways are framed inside the premises. The door leaf can be blank or have a glass insert. For interior doors, a three-chamber profile is used, the installation depth of which is 60 mm.

Interior doors often have glass inserts, and sometimes they are completely filled with double-glazed windows.

Such a solution would be an excellent option when decorating a doorway in:

  • utility rooms, bathroom and toilet;
  • administrative or office premises;
  • medical institutions;
  • partially heated or unheated buildings.

The popularity of interior metal-plastic doors is explained by the fact that they have the following advantages:

  • high soundproofing characteristics - the room can be well insulated from extraneous noise;
  • resistance to temperature extremes and high humidity;
  • lack of fading under the influence of sunlight;
  • high rates of fire safety;
  • ease of care;
  • high resistance to aggressive chemicals;
  • a large selection of colors.

If we talk about the disadvantages of such doors, then they will largely depend on the quality of their production. The main disadvantages of products made of reinforced PVC are relatively low mechanical strength, due to which scratches and abrasions will be clearly visible on the surface, and with a strong impact, even damage to the canvas is possible.

Entrance doors

In contrast to the balcony and interior structures, entrance metal-plastic doors are made of more durable materials and using a different technology. Their main features are the presence of a reliable locking mechanism and high resistance to the negative effects of external factors, as well as to temperature extremes. The presence of special amplifiers makes such structures especially durable, so they reliably protect the home from possible penetration of unauthorized persons.

Entrance metal-plastic doors usually have a blank panel at the bottom, and a double-glazed window is sometimes installed in the upper part

The main differences between entrance doors and balcony or interior doors are as follows:

  • high resistance to temperature extremes allows them to be installed in regions with severe winters;
  • the presence of a reinforced and reinforced frame, metal inserts, as well as special welded connectors makes such structures resistant to mechanical damage;
  • good noise and heat insulation characteristics;
  • the presence of reinforced fittings that have a long service life and are designed for frequent use;
  • the locking device reliably fixes the door leaf along its entire perimeter;
  • the aluminum threshold increases the service life of the doors and protects the interior from drafts;
  • the ability to create different designs, as a result of which such doors are suitable for houses built from different materials.

The disadvantages of the products under consideration include lower strength than similar metal structures, as well as weak thermal insulation characteristics of inexpensive models due to insufficient insulation of sandwich panels or the use of double glazing instead of triple. Therefore, when buying a metal-plastic entrance door, you should give preference to products from trusted manufacturers and be sure to pay attention to their quality - this is the only way you can acquire strong and reliable doors that will protect your home for many years.

Sliding doors

If it is necessary to arrange a wide doorway or it is not possible to install swing doors, sliding metal-plastic structures would be an excellent solution. The use of special fittings allows you to move the sash slightly towards yourself, and then to the side or open it for ventilation, which is why they are also called tilt-sliding systems. The sash moves away from the frame by an average of 12 cm, and then slides along the guides and stops after it hits the stopper.

To move such doors to the side, you need to turn the handle by 180 o, for ventilation it is enough to move it by 90, and in some models by 45 o. The width of the door leaf can be from 60 to 150 cm, and its height is up to 230 cm, while the weight of individual structures reaches 180 kg.

Sliding metal-plastic doors can have a leaf width from 60 to 150 cm

The presence of a reliable support at the sash eliminates its sagging, but the durable operation of such a structure will be possible only if it is correctly installed. To design a wider opening, you can use the bobbin system, which includes two flaps that open in different directions. The installation of anti-burglary handles, hooks and shockproof glass makes such structures safe and protected, so they can be used both indoors and on a balcony or terrace.

The main advantages of metal-plastic sliding systems over similar aluminum ones are:

  • higher thermal insulation characteristics;
  • the presence of two contours of seals that increase the tightness of the vestibule. Lint brushes are installed on aluminum systems, so the tightness will be worse;
  • uninterrupted operation in winter, since the sash is retracted to the side and opens easily, and aluminum guides can be clogged with snow and ice;
  • the ability to open the doors completely or only to ventilate the room.

Despite the large number of advantages over aluminum systems, metal-plastic structures have their own disadvantages: they are heavier, their strength is slightly less, and the cost is higher. But all of them are compensated by simplicity and ease of use, as well as a long service life.

For use in the kitchen, the structure can be equipped with a window sill, on which it is convenient to store various items, but when opening the sash for airing, they will need to be removed. It is very convenient to use sliding canvases on a loggia or balcony - they do not require free space near the doors, so cabinets or shelves can be installed next to the doorway.

Metal-plastic balcony doors

Balcony metal-plastic doors can be made as a single unit with a window or separately. This solution is used not only for decorating a doorway on a balcony or loggia, but also in a greenhouse, greenhouse, on a veranda, etc.

A feature of such structures is that they are usually locked only from the inside, and from the outside they have a special latch that allows you to fix the door tightly when closed. At the request of the customer, a double-sided handle, a child lock, a folding mechanism can be installed. Balcony metal-plastic doors have a number of advantages:

For metal-plastic balcony doors, the same materials are used as in the manufacture of windows, so the designs are similar, although with certain differences:

  • fittings are of a higher quality;
  • the profile is reinforced with galvanized steel;
  • the strength of fillet joints is increased due to a high-quality welded joint;
  • a double glazing is installed.

There are several types of balcony doors: single, double, sliding and accordion doors.

Metal-plastic doors for bathroom

When choosing wooden or MDF doors for a bathroom, be prepared for the fact that in 5-6 years you will have to change or restore them. Reinforced-plastic doors are an excellent solution for a bathroom or toilet, as they reliably serve for many decades and do not require special maintenance.

Since high humidity often occurs in the bathroom and the temperature changes sharply, the best solution would be to install a metal-plastic door here.

High humidity is often set in the bathroom and temperature drops occur, therefore, increased requirements are imposed on the materials used in the manufacture of doors for it. Reinforced-plastic structures have all the necessary characteristics for use in wet rooms:

  • do not corrode and are not afraid of high humidity;
  • are lightweight, so installation can be done by hand;
  • are not afraid of exposure to chemically active substances;
  • do not require complex care;
  • are available in a wide range of design and color solutions, so the door can be matched to any interior.

The only drawback that metal-plastic products have is their low elasticity, therefore, with serious shock loads, the canvas can deform.

When choosing a swing structure, the size of the leaf in comparison with the size of the doorway should be rounded down, and for sliding doors this is done, on the contrary, up.

For the door in the bathroom, it is recommended to make a threshold, since in the event of flooding, its presence will help prevent water from entering other rooms. When determining the size of the door leaf, do not forget to take into account the height of the threshold. It is much easier to care for a smooth surface, and a fine-grained structure will require more careful maintenance.

Since the metal-plastic structures have high tightness, it is recommended to make a grill for the bathroom and toilet in the lower part of the canvas, which will provide ventilation of the room with closed doors. In order to determine the quality of the plastic, you can press your finger on the door leaf: good material will not bend.

Sliding doors

If you need to install doors in a wide doorway and it is not possible to use a sliding system, sliding metal-plastic doors are the best option. Such a structure is folded near the doorway, and since it consists of several elements, it takes up very little space. The width of one sash cannot be more than 90 cm, and the height of the leaf can be up to 230 cm.

It is very convenient to use an accordion door to decorate wide openings

The design features of the accordion door make it possible to use it to decorate the exit to the terrace, winter garden or backyard, as well as in office, retail and entertainment establishments.

For interior rooms, sliding structures without a threshold are usually used, and for entrance doors, a canvas is mounted with a lower support roller.

The main advantages of sliding metal-plastic doors:

  • despite the large number of sections, such doors provide high heat and sound insulation characteristics;
  • they can close large openings;
  • for the manufacture of doors, a profile system with a thickness of 60 to 86 mm can be used, which allows you to make both interior and entrance structures;
  • this solution allows you to make the room brighter and more spacious.

The disadvantages of sliding doors are associated with their high cost and the fact that the presence of a large number of leaves reduces their strength.

Sliding door opening schemes are indicated by a three-digit code, in which the first digit indicates the total number of leaves, and the second and third - the number of leaves moved to the left and right, respectively.

If you need to use a sliding door every day, then it is possible to install one swing door in it, which you will basically open. If it is necessary to free the entire doorway, the sliding system unfolds completely.

Blind plastic door

Reinforced-plastic doors can have a double-glazed window or consist of sandwich panels. To create them, high-quality PVC sheets are used, the distance between which is filled with extruded polyurethane foam. Such structures are lightweight, durable, have high heat and sound insulation characteristics, as well as a guaranteed service life of 25-30 years.

Deaf metal-plastic doors are usually used at the entrance to the house

If it is necessary to install opaque doors, then filling metal-plastic structures with sandwich panels is one of the best options. This solution has the following advantages:

  • high heat and sound insulation;
  • relatively light weight;
  • ease of transportation and installation;
  • high resistance to the negative effects of external factors, corrosion and fungus;
  • resistance to moisture and temperature changes;
  • affordable cost.

A deaf metal-plastic door can be installed both indoors and on the balcony or at the entrance to the house. The main disadvantage of such doors is the possibility of their mechanical damage, and if the abrasions or scratches are significant, then it will be difficult and almost impossible to restore such a door.

Manufacturing of plastic doors

It is almost impossible to independently manufacture metal-plastic doors, you can set up a small production, but this will require the purchase of special equipment and significant investments.

The production technology of metal-plastic doors consists of several stages.

  1. Sketch creation. At this stage, the dimensions of the doorway are taken, the size of the doors, their shape and color are determined. With the help of a special program, the entered data is processed, the computer produces a finished drawing, according to which the materials are cut.
  2. Preparation of materials. Before working with materials, it is necessary that they lie for a day in a room with a temperature above 10 o C.
  3. Profile cutting. It is made using a special saw.

    A special circular saw is used to cut the profile

  4. Cutting and assembly of fittings. To strengthen the frame, reinforcement is used, which is also cut into workpieces of the required size, and then inserted and fixed inside the PVC profile. To carry out the assembly, you need a specially equipped table and a screwdriver.
  5. Creation of drainage holes. If entrance or balcony doors are made, then drainage holes are made in the profile through which water from under the glass unit will be drained.
  6. Crossbeam milling. This requires a face milling machine. After processing, the cross member is welded and inserted into the frame.

    Crossbeam milling is performed on a face milling machine

  7. Creation of places for fixing fittings. In the reinforced profile, grooves for locks and holes for handles are created. This is done using a copy-milling machine with a three-spindle gearbox, in which the upper platform is movable, and there is a milling cutter on it.
  8. Welding of workpieces. Welding of all parts of the profile into a single structure is carried out on special machines.

    During welding of all parts of the profile, their perpendicularity is controlled, for which special equipment is also used

  9. Cleaning corners. After welding, the seams are processed on a multifunctional stripping machine.
  10. Installation of fittings. All fittings are installed and their performance is checked.
  11. Glazing and installation of sandwich panels. Installation of double-glazed windows and sandwich panels is carried out in accordance with the sketch of the doors. This is done on a special stand, where the elements to be installed are fixed using glazing beads pre-cut to size.

    Double-glazed windows and sandwich panels are fixed with special glazing beads

  12. Checking the door. The work of the fittings, the rectangularity of the structure and the absence of damage are checked.

Features of installation and operation of doors made of reinforced PVC

When installing metal-plastic doors, there are no special difficulties, the technology of their installation is practically no different from the installation of other similar structures, so this work can be done independently.

  1. Tools and materials are being prepared: a tape measure, a puncher, a screwdriver and a building level, as well as wooden wedges for leveling the frame and polyurethane foam. The doorway is cleared of debris.

    Before starting installation, the doorway must be completely cleaned of construction debris

  2. The door block is disassembled, while the leaf is separated from the box. The door frame is inserted into the opening and is aligned vertically and horizontally using wooden wedges using a building level.
  3. With the help of a perforator, through holes are made in the side posts, which further deepen into the wall. Anchors are inserted into them and squeezed manually, all the time controlling the position of the door frame so that it does not move.

    To securely fix the door frame, three anchors are installed on each side

  4. The door leaf is hung on the hinges.
  5. The protruding parts of the wedges are cut off, the correct installation is checked again, and then the gap between the wall and the box is filled with polyurethane foam. After a day, the remaining foam is cut off. All this time, the doors must be closed.

    The gaps between the door frame and the wall are filled with foam, which ensures the tightness of all joints of the frame with the doorway

Caring for metal-plastic doors consists in periodically cleaning them, for which a damp sponge is used. If the dirt is strong, then the sponge is moistened with soapy water or dish detergent. In the event of malfunctions, the fittings are adjusted.

Repair and adjustment

Adjusting metal-plastic doors is no different from a similar operation for plastic windows. Hardware for doors and windows has the same configuration, only for doors they use more durable and high-quality hinges and handles. Changing the position of a metal-plastic door is carried out using hinges. The blade can be displaced vertically or horizontally, for which there are special adjusting screws.

Adjustment of the metal-plastic door is carried out using special screws located on the hinges

Removing a metal-plastic door does not require special tools, for this it is enough to have a set of hex keys, a screwdriver and pliers. The whole process consists of several stages.

Installation of the blade is carried out in the reverse order.

How to remove the handle from a plastic entrance door

If it becomes necessary to replace the handle, it is very easy to deal with it on your own.

How and what to paint a metal-plastic door

Sometimes a situation arises when a metal-plastic door needs to be painted. For this, you can use acrylic or water-based paints for plastic. Acrylic coatings are often used, which are thinned with water and dry quickly. Usually, white paint is bought, and colored powders are used to obtain the required shade.

To complete the work you will need:

  • dye;
  • roller, brush or spray bottle;
  • plastic cleaner;
  • lint-free napkin.

Painting a plastic door is carried out in several stages.

How to shorten a metal-plastic door yourself

It is quite difficult to shorten the door on your own at home. To do this, you need to have special knowledge and tools. To avoid such a problem, you must immediately take the correct measurements and order a ready-made metal-plastic door using them.

Briefly, the pruning process can be described as follows.

  1. Dismantle the door block.
  2. Cut off the bottom of the canvas and part of the frame.
  3. An impost (reinforced lower insert) of the appropriate size is prepared and fixed to the frame using self-tapping screws.
  4. Seams are sealed with sealant.

If you have a need to shorten a metal-plastic door, then it is best to do this in production.

PVC door care

In order for the metal-plastic doors to serve as long as possible, they must be properly looked after:

  • to clean the surface, special non-aggressive and non-abrasive chemicals or ordinary soap solution are used;
  • rubber seals are periodically wiped from dirt and lubricated with special agents once a year;
  • all moving parts of the fittings are lubricated 1-2 times a year;
  • if the handle is loose, then it must be tightly fixed;
  • in the balcony and entrance structures there are drainage channels, which are located in the lower part of the canvas, they must be periodically cleaned of dirt.

Components for metal-plastic doors

In order for the metal-plastic doors to work for a long time and without interruption, you need to use high-quality fittings:

  • hinges must be strong to support the weight of the blade and have an anti-corrosion coating. Usually, metal-plastic doors are installed on three hinges;

    The presence of a closer allows the door leaf to close smoothly, which greatly increases its service life

  • for balcony doors, the most convenient are swing-out hinges, with which the canvas can be fully opened or put on air.

High-quality fittings make up most of the cost of metal-plastic doors, so many manufacturers are trying to save money on it, which negatively affects the technical characteristics of products and their service life.

A metal-plastic window is a window made of PVC-plastic with a metal profile in the middle to enhance the rigidity of the structure.

Construction of a metal-plastic window

A metal-plastic window consists of a frame, sashes, fittings, double-glazed windows and a rubber seal.

The basis of a metal-plastic window is a PVC profile, in the middle of which a reinforcing metal frame is installed, which gives rigidity to the system. The PVC profile contains jumpers that create air compartments, the so-called chambers. The more cameras, the warmer the profile. Usually a profile has 3,4,5 or 7 cameras.

The reinforcing profile can be U-shaped, L-shaped or closed. In a conditional section, the reinforcing profile is a rectangle. The metal profile is located in the central, largest chamber.

V installation of a metal-plastic window a double-glazed window is included. A double-glazed window is a window element consisting of two or three panes separated by an air or gas space. Two glasses with a layer of air or gas (argon) are called a chamber. The chambers of the insulating glass unit are hermetically sealed.

Silicone based gaskets are responsible for soundproofing the window. They are installed along the edge of the glass unit on both sides. Fittings play an important role in energy saving, sound insulation, protection, convenience and durability of the window.

Manufacturers of metal-plastic windows

With the increase in demand for metal-plastic windows, the number of manufacturers has grown sharply. Are all the windows the same and what to look for so that you do not regret your purchase later.

Reinforced plastic window the construction is prefabricated, and their quality is determined by the quality of the components from which the window itself was assembled. First of all, the quality of the profile, the thickness of the reinforcement, the quality of the glass unit and the quality of the fittings itself are important. In addition, trust in the manufacturer and its technological lines, adherence to all technological parameters and processes is not the least important. The most popular are Rehau profiles, Siegenia-Aubi fittings (Germany).

Reinforced-plastic window: check of windows before installation

What advice can you give to buyers when they have already received the window? Note:

  • - in appearance, i.e. the integrity of the window, as well as the fact that there is no difference in color anywhere and the window is really the same color;
  • - so that there are no dents and scratches and other external defects and damage;
  • - the quality of the seams, i.e. the seams must be neat, clean and cleaned;
  • - on the quality of the glass unit, i.e. there should be no scratches or cracks on it; the double-glazed window must be dry and not fogged in the middle, and also must not contain a drop of moisture;
  • - for the presence of screws with which the reinforcement is attached (the presence of screws indicates the presence of reinforcement in your window).

Installation quality control

After metal-plastic window installed, check the quality of the installation, according to the following criteria:

Firstly, check that the frame is securely fastened, the opening window should never dangle, deflect or vibrate.

Secondly, check how well the sash adheres to the frame, i.e. it should fit evenly over the entire width and there should be no deviations, otherwise there will be blowing from this window and there will be constant drafts.

Thirdly, pay attention to the work of the fittings: open and close the window several times and check how smoothly and softly your fittings "go".

If you have any comments, immediately ask the technician to correct, adjust and repair your window on site.

Which window manufacturer to choose and how to do it in practice?

You need to choose a manufacturer who does not pursue crazy capacities, but values his good reputation in the market and is responsible for every window he installs. Such a manufacturer can produce windows from ultra-expensive (with powerful window systems) to windows of the "economy" series. Responsible manufacturer of metal-plastic windows must be certified in the country and certified once every two years. From each supplier of raw materials (profile, fittings or reinforcement), the manufacturer of metal-plastic windows must be supplied with certificates of conformity and hygienic conclusions. The window manufacturer must issue a passport and a warranty card for each window. Those manufacturers, who do not have the above documents, are sometimes called "garagemen" by real window manufacturers and you better not get involved with them.

Good quality metal-plastic window reduces heating costs in winter by about 25 percent compared to the previous heating season, when a wooden window was still installed. Replacing ordinary windows with a metal-plastic window is immediately felt in the room, where it becomes quiet, warm and comfortable.

Caring for a metal-plastic window

  • Do not forget that a metal-plastic window needs to be treated with care. If you want your window to serve you for a long time, follow these rules:
  • Do not forget to regularly (twice a year) lubricate the fittings, i.e. all movable objects of your window.
  • Use a mild window cleaner (soapy water or a special cleaner available from window care stores). Never use powder-like products that can damage the surface of your window.
  • When washing windows, also try to gently wash the rubber seals so that your window is airtight and retains its properties for many years.

Outcome

And, finally, I would like to note that there are no good or bad building materials, according to experts; only their correct use for the intended purpose remains important. Yes, of course, a metal-plastic window in a seventeenth century house will look out of place. However, high quality windows will be a good cost-effective solution for a modern apartment, home or office. And as an argument, just look at the number of plastic windows around.

There are the most bizarre forms of metal-plastic: round and arched, you certainly won’t surprise anyone. Pointed windows are also not a novelty, and design constructions are made to order, and they embody almost any client's fantasies. But besides this, metal-plastic windows have the most important characteristics, the knowledge of which will help you choose high-quality designs for your balcony.

Window properties

A high-quality, good window must meet the declared characteristics.

Namely:

  • the service life of such a window is at least 20 years;
  • high sound insulation properties;
  • positive thermal insulation characteristics;
  • ease of care and operation.

Once again, you can emphasize - absolutely any metal-plastic window should be like this, and its price does not matter.

A standard window unit includes two elements - a window frame and sashes, either opening or fixed. Separately, it is customary to distinguish shtulp windows, they are distinguished by the engagement of the shutters with each other.

Types of sections of metal-plastic windows

After thinking about what kind of window will be convenient for your home, you have to choose and what type of section will be in the window.

Reinforced-plastic windows can be with the following sections:

  • Folding section... It is possible to activate the "ventilation" mode or micro-ventilation. This type is suitable for observation windows located at a significant height, as well as mansard areas.
  • Swivel section... The sash in it can open inward, which entails a large flow of air. The sash opens outward on rare occasions.

  • Swing-out section... It combines both functions, which makes this type of section very popular.
  • Blind section... The section cannot be opened, as it completely adheres to the frame, but, nevertheless, it can be dismantled.

In different rooms and rooms, different windows are needed, so it cannot be said that there is some kind of universal type of section.

How to choose metal-plastic windows (video)

Features of the choice of metal-plastic windows

The most important thing in choosing is to take into account the characteristics of the room, where the window will be located.

  • Apartments, houses, offices require windows with two-chamber and three-chamber double-glazed windows - they are warmer, more comfortable, and in general, more perfect. Single-chamber windows are used for storage and various purposes of non-residential premises.
  • Reliable thermal insulation is the most important criterion for choosing a metal-plastic window if the building is on the windy side.
  • Tinted plastic windows are needed if the room is on the sunny side of the building, and other buildings do not obstruct the house. Windows can be with a special film that has reflective pollination, or coated with a silver base.
  • If the building is located in the city center, or in an industrial area, they are not protected from dust. Therefore, a window with a mosquito net is required in this case.

  • In the absence of natural ventilation, you need to choose a special profile. It is built in such a way that even with the shutters closed, a small air circulation is maintained. Otherwise, you will have to keep the airing mode all the time.
  • If the apartment is on the lower floors, the owners are not insured against the attacks of the “vents”. To prevent them from causing harm, you need to arm yourself with additional locking fittings, it is installed, as a rule, on the handles. A glazing bead is also used to cover the crack between the impost and the sash.
  • If the glass unit is intended for shops or office buildings, then the windows from the outside can be covered with a special impact-resistant film. In some cases, armored glasses are ordered.

These are just the main selection criteria, which, in principle, are enough not to make a mistake with the purchase.

The quality of reinforced-plastic windows - what to look for

The seller can assure that the window is strong and warm, but you can verify this by looking at the structure yourself. Thermal insulation and strength depend directly on the wall thickness, as well as the width of the cross-section of the profile. Usually, as already mentioned above, the average statistical conditions in our country imply the choice of a three-chamber or two-chamber profile.

Narrow frames are also popular, but they only make sense to install in homes with outdoor insulation. And, for example, in a panel house, this window will not be a protection from the cold.

In terms of color, the most popular is, of course, white. But even if the seller cannot offer a profile of your preferred color, today many of the most paste over it with a special film or acrylic varnish. But the window will definitely look better if a coloring pigment was added to the polyvinyl chloride during the production of the profile.

How to choose a good seller

There are many companies offering window installation. And the flyers look promising.

In order not to miscalculate, it is advisable to pay attention to the following points:

  • Require certificates for components and finished windows.
  • Check what the seller includes in the total cost of metal-plastic windows, if there is a window dismantling in this list. This is especially important when it comes to installing balcony windows.
  • The warranty period must be long enough.
  • Take the time to look at the showroom of the company that produces the windows.

Nobody has canceled word of mouth, so listening to the feedback is never superfluous.

Today, metal-plastic double-glazed windows open up more and more possibilities - so, it is thanks to them that the balcony can be turned into a separate room. Whether it is a place with a sleeping place and a lamp, where you can read and just relax. Or a mini-bar with a table for two and a beautiful view of the city. Or maybe the balcony will turn into the hostess's workshop, where she will keep everything that helps to make the house cozy. The main thing is that it is the double-glazed windows that make it possible to realize such attractive prospects.

Have a good choice!

Rules for choosing PVC windows (video)

Attention, only TODAY!

Not everyone knows that when we talk about metal-plastic structures, we are talking about ordinary PVC windows. And they are called so because the plastic contains steel reinforcement. A metal-plastic profile can have various shapes and sizes, that is, it is a universal element that is used in a variety of conditions.

Features of plastic windows

Such designs are much more widespread than wooden or aluminum counterparts. The main material is PVC. It is a type of synthetic polymer known for its high consumer properties. Such products are distinguished by their absolute harmlessness to humans, resistance to environmental influences and corrosion.

Inside the plastic profile there is a metal frame, which is the basis of the entire structure. The outer side of the product is finished with plastic material. Like the rest of the window brothers, this type has a frame, sashes, double-glazed windows. The kit also includes a metal braid, hinges and locking elements.

Air chambers are located inside the metal-plastic window. Due to their high tightness, these structures are distinguished by a high level of noise and heat insulation. It is safe to say that the plastic profile will save your house from drafts and reduce heating costs.

Maintenance of such products is practically minimal. If you decide to install plastic windows, then you no longer have to process the frame with varnishes and paints, as well as glue the sashes to insulate the windows for the winter. The material does not flake off and does not need to be re-painted, and the complete tightness does not allow cold air to pass into the room. It is also very easy to regulate such products. The modern window industry offers a wide variety of ventilation options. It is enough to turn the knob at a certain angle to let air into the room.

Why is it even better to put a PVC frame? It is difficult to ignite and does not allow the fire to spread further. That is, such products are fireproof, unlike their wooden counterparts. A good profile is strong and durable enough that it can be installed both in country houses and on the top floors of skyscrapers. The choice of fittings is also of great importance. The convenience of operation and the service life of the entire product depend on these elements. The set of fittings includes handles, hinges and their supports, as well as other accessories. All of them are responsible for adjusting the sashes, so you cannot save on such trifles.

How to install a reinforced-plastic window?

If you decide to install a double-glazed window yourself, you should understand that choosing a high-quality design is only 50% of success. The remaining 50% of durability, comfort and warmth depends on correct installation. Therefore, we strongly recommend entrusting such installation in a house or apartment to purely professionals.

To correctly set such a profile, you must clearly follow the instructions, which include a strict sequence of stages:

  1. Measurement of the opening.
  2. Dismantling the old product.
  3. Opening preparation.
  4. Fixing the window in the opening.
  5. Work with assembly seams.
  6. Ebb device.
  7. Installation of sashes, double-glazed windows.
  8. Installation of slopes.
  9. Checking the tightness of the entire structure and the performance of the fittings.

Why is it undesirable to install metal-plastic windows with your own hands? Errors in measurements, a previously uncleaned surface, improper fastening of the sashes, non-use of a level during installation - all these and other factors will nullify the work involving the installation of a window structure. And only professionals with experience can know about such nuances.

How to properly adjust the windows?

As mentioned above, it is worth choosing a plastic window, if only because it does not need to be additionally insulated. But when the season changes, it is necessary to adjust the window for winter or summer by setting one or another sash mode. For this, it is not necessary to contact specialists. Do-it-yourself adjustment is quite possible. How to do it? Read on.

Why do you need to adjust the frame?

When winter succeeds summer or vice versa, it is important to adjust the flaps to a certain position. Initially, the clamp is in a neutral state. However, leaving it in this form may not have very good consequences:

  • drafts even with correct adjustment;
  • loss of heat from the apartment in winter, if the summer mode is set;
  • the constant presence of the flaps in summer mode, due to strong pressure, quickly destroys the seal;
  • violation of the microclimate in the room.

Moreover, an incorrectly set mode can lead to the need to carry out repairs with your own hands or with the help of a wizard. But in any case, these are unnecessary troubles and expenses.

In order to put the structure in one mode or another, you must first look at the pins (eccentrics), which are located on the side of the sash. If you see holes for a screwdriver or a hexagon or an oval trunnion, then such a glass unit can be adjusted in summer or winter mode. But it is better to clarify this nuance in the company that carried out the sale and installation. To activate the desired mode, simply turn the pins on the sash using a tool to a certain position.

How to choose the right metal-plastic windows?

Before purchasing such designs for your home, it is important to understand that you are making a purchase for decades. Therefore, it is better to immediately choose a high-quality and reliable model by ordering an installation from a serious company. What are the best PVC products? It all depends on various factors:

  • type of house and living conditions;
  • your aesthetic preferences;
  • financial opportunities.

Modern window manufacturing offers many options. Each of them is distinguished by the quality of the profile and the reliability of the fittings. To avoid window repairs in the future, give preference to qualified specialists and use the product carefully. For all questions of selection, repair and maintenance, you can contact our company!

PVC windows are now installed in almost every house and apartment, and this is not surprising, because with the advent of plastic windows on the construction market, consumers have the opportunity to make their home cozy, warm, energy efficient, protected from all kinds of external factors. As soon as they do not call windows, the design of which includes a system of PVC profiles and a double-glazed window. And PVC windows, and plastic / metal-plastic systems, and just "double-glazed windows". And now, when the time comes to replace old windows with new ones, we begin to think about what, in fact, apart from the name, differ between plastic and metal-plastic window structures. The most interesting thing is that even Internet resources (the source of all knowledge) often give incorrect information that there is only one type of PVC windows - PVC profiles reinforced with galvanized steel, so there is no difference between plastic and metal-plastic systems. This opinion is fundamentally erroneous, and ignorance of the difference between the two main types of "new generation" windows can be used by unscrupulous distributors of these products who sell window units of lower quality to the buyer at an inflated price. To prevent this from happening, it is necessary, firstly, to clearly know about the properties of each of the types of windows; secondly, contact a reliable company whose employees will spare no time and will advise you in detail about a particular window. So, let's find out what is the difference between plastic and metal-plastic windows?

Plastic frame windows

We want to say right away that ordinary purely plastic windows in our time can be called an anachronism: despite their relatively low cost, they are not popular and today they are practically not used anywhere. The design of plastic window blocks is quite simple: PVC profiles hold a double-glazed window (single or multi-chamber). Polyvinyl chloride itself is a fairly strong material, but this does not mean that it does not need additional reinforcement, which is why over time, simple plastic profiles began to be reinforced with strips of steel. Windows with plastic elements are not without drawbacks, the main negative aspects of such double-glazed windows are as follows:

  • Less strength compared to metal-plastic structures.
  • Shorter service life (plastic windows will serve you 10-20 years).
  • Low ability to withstand external factors: gusts of wind, blows, burglary attempts.
  • Restrictions in terms of the shape of the future window. Using profiles without a steel frame, only standard rectangular windows of a typical size can be produced.

As you can see, PVC windows have rather limited functionality, however, they are still installed. This is done mainly by developer companies with large-scale glazing of new buildings. Therefore, if you have purchased an apartment in a new building and the windows have already been installed, they are most likely an inexpensive plastic economy option. What to do with such translucent structures is up to you. You can leave these windows, provided that your apartment is not located on the ground or on the upper floors, where double-glazed windows can be exposed to very significant influences (a ball or stone hit, a burglary attempt, gusts of wind and blows from tree branches).

Reinforced-plastic windows - the highest quality and versatility

Reinforced-plastic window structures have
increased strength and resistance
to mechanical stress due
reinforcing steel layer

As the name implies, metal-plastic windows have the same plastic base - a profile, but reinforced in a certain way with a steel strip. Reinforcement of PVC profiles is one of the important stages in the manufacture of a window, and the quality of future products depends on its conscientious performance. That is why, when choosing windows, it is better to give preference to a reliable company that has its own production and controls the quality of each manufactured window block. Reinforcement of a PVC profile cut according to preliminary measurements is carried out using galvanized steel and is carried out taking into account the following requirements:

  • The steel strip should be continuous, that is, not interrupted or perforated.
  • Reinforcement of the PVC profile is made along the entire contour (closed steel strip) or on three sides (U-shaped).

The advantages of metal-plastic structures make them an absolutely safe option in comparison with simple plastic windows. PVC profiles with reinforced elements can be used for the manufacture of windows of any configuration: arched, triangular, round, trapezoidal. Increased impact resistance and wind resistance allows the installation of reinforced-plastic windows in high-rise buildings.

Separately, I would like to note the durability of reinforced windows: their service life is at least 40 years. That is, you can once spend money on high-quality windows and "forget about their existence" for the next half century. Agree, buying metal-plastic window blocks is a very profitable investment.

Some experts argue that the soundproofing and heat-saving properties of plastic and metal-plastic windows are the same, since they depend on the glass unit, and not on the profile. However, practical studies prove that the energy efficiency and sound insulation of inexpensive plastic structures is still somewhat lower than in windows with reinforced profiles.

New generation plastic windows

new generation window constructions

Recently, new plastic window blocks without reinforcing elements have appeared on the Russian markets, made using new technologies from a high-strength composite based on fiberglass. In terms of their characteristics, these structures are not only not inferior, but also somewhat superior to metal-plastic windows. Here are their main advantages:

  • High strength and resistance to stress.
  • Ease of construction.
  • The possibility of using composite profiles for the manufacture of windows of various shapes.
  • Highest level of sound insulation and tightness, etc.

However, there are composite windows, the profiles of which are reinforced with fiberglass during the production process, and one drawback is their cost. Today the price of a composite window is much higher than that of the highest quality metal-plastic windows.
