Accessories for the bar counter in the kitchen - varieties and features of accessories. Coasters for glasses and hot do-it-yourself How to hang glasses on the bar counter

Dremel offers a versatile hanging wine cabinet for wine storage.

What you need:

  • - wooden slats;
  • - 1 wooden block;
  • - multifunctional tool (here Dremel 4000);
  • - sanding attachment (430) 6.4 mm, grit 60;
  • - cutting disc for wood (SC544);
  • - universal drill (561);
  • - universal cutting kit (565);
  • - glue gun (here Dremel (930));
  • - screwdriver;
  • - screws;
  • - dowels;
  • - self-tapping screws;
  • - metal chain

Step 1

To make the component parts of the shelf, cut a block of wood into several pieces. The back and front of the shelf should be 50 x 2 cm and the sides should be 25 x 2 cm. Sand the edges of the workpieces with the Dremel 4000 and the Dremel sanding head (430), 6.4mm, 60 grit.

Step 2

Take wooden slats and cut them into 12 even pieces (you will need 2 coasters for each bottle). Each blank must be at least 22 cm in length. To make these stands, use your Dremel 4000 with a wood cutting disc (SC544).

Step 3

Take the front and back of the wine rack blanks and mark on them where the slats will be placed. Place pencil marks along the entire length of the finished front of the shelf - you will need them to cut the cuts for the bottles. In order to make it more convenient to place the bottles on the shelf, cut out semicircles in which the containers should fit. Use your Dremel 4000 and the Universal Cutting Kit (565) to get the job done. Sand the edges of the semi-circles using the Dremel 4000 Multi-Tool with a 6.4 mm Dremel sanding head, 60 grit (430).

Step 4

Secure the rails at the marked points using the Dremel Glue Gun (930). To complete the work on the shelf, it remains only to fasten all its parts with screws. Make holes in the shelf components and install metal corner brackets in them. Then screw in the 25mm screws and tighten them with a screwdriver. To make the wine rack even more convenient, you can install a lattice for hanging glasses on it. To do this, you just need to screw the metal grate on the back of the shelf with a screwdriver.

Step 5

Attach self-tapping screws to the corners of the front side of the wine rack. Attach a metal chain to them - with its help you can place the shelf anywhere in the kitchen.

Step 6

Now it only remains to choose a good place to hang crafts on a chain. To secure the wine cabinet, measure the distance between the self-tapping screws. According to it, make four holes in the ceiling using the Dremel 4000 and the Universal Bit (561), then insert the dowel and screw in four additional self-tapping screws. Hang a shelf.

Functionality and at the same time stylish design in the kitchen is probably the dream of every housewife. Unfortunately, storage of kitchen utensils is one of the main problems in a room where food is usually prepared and eaten. This fully applies to various. Moreover, each type of alcohol requires special dishes. At the same time, the glass holder easily solves this problem. Yes, and give the interior a special zest.

What is a glass holder?

The device is a construction of parallel rails, for which the glasses are fixed to the wide base of the legs. This is the most convenient way to store wine glasses of all types, configurations and sizes. The holder can be installed both on the countertop and on the kitchen wall, on the shelves, as well as inside the kitchen cabinet. Very often, the holder for glasses is fixed on the bar counter, a decorative element of the kitchen that is currently relevant.

Types of glass holder

The most common version is made of metal tubes in which wine glasses are placed upside down. If you plan to fix it to the wall, you need to buy a wall-mounted glass holder. You can save space in the kitchen if you mount the structure to the bottom wall of the hanging cabinet. The holder-shelf, suspended on a railing - a steel pipe along the wall, looks stylish. By the way, in addition to one section, we can have one or more sections if it is a linear holder.

If you have a bar leg, decorate it with a functional accessory in the form of a round wine glass holder.

The glass holder on the suction cup will allow you to fix the dishes where you want to sit in a pleasant company or with your loved one at the moment, without fear of spilling an alcoholic drink.

In addition to metal holders, you can find colorful wooden products and sophisticated glass models on sale.

For some, coasters for glasses become a collector's item. Someone does not understand why they are needed. But see for yourself: the table is protected from temperature damage, scratches and round stains after beer mugs; guests are satisfied with an interesting stylish thing under their glass; you are cheered up by using a product of your own creation. And it's also a great gift! Sounds like enough reason to make a coaster kit, right?

We have collected for you the most original and interesting examples. Many of them use cork material as a base, which is easy to find in hardware stores and art stores. Coasters are most often made from it, so you can buy ordinary ones and improve them. We provide links to some master classes, but many are so simple that you yourself can guess how it's done.

From wine corks

Classic coasters for drinks and hot, as we have already mentioned, are made of cork material. But wine corks do not differ in properties, but look much more interesting. For a large stand, the idea is to fill the frame with vertically standing corks. For smaller coasters, it is better to cut the corks into thin circles or in half and stick them horizontally on a pre-prepared base.

You can do many other things from wine corks, we wrote about this in a post.

From the details of board games

From fabric

To make coasters out of felt, it is not necessary to be able to sew well. Just take the base for the stand (cork is best, but cardboard is also possible) and sheathe it with felt with small stitches. If you connect fantasy, you can get such pretty citrus slices:

You can use other fabrics, even lace. Such coasters look especially elegant, and making them is as easy as shelling pears: glue a piece of lace fabric to the cork base using PVA and smear it on top. When it dries, cut off the excess edges. Voila!

From ceramic tiles

Square tiles are another great material for coasters. On this basis, original coasters in the style of Polaroid shots were made. The effect is achieved due to the fact that a photograph is glued onto a white tile in compliance with the proportions.

Instead of a photo, you can stick your favorite text on the tile.

From paper

“Paper is too soft for that,” you might think. And it is true. But only if you do not twist strong strips from it. For example, an old magazine can be used for such coasters:

The bar table, if it is in the kitchen, is statistically used even more often than the dining table. When purchasing a bar counter, think in advance what accessories you will need, do you need a hinged bar system, central and side shelves, or will it be enough to hang a small cabinet?

Pros and cons of equipping a bar counter

Accessories for a bar counter in the kitchen have their pros and cons.

Pros:

  • this is a great solution if there is not enough storage space;
  • the central and side shelves are very convenient and functional to use.

Minuses:

  • the need to regularly dust bottles, glasses, appliances;
  • a large number of accessories overloads the space, the owners need to be especially careful with filling the rack.

Types and types of bar counter equipment

Accessories and fittings are different in terms of fastening method, shape, materials and purpose.

According to the method of attachment, we can distinguish:

  1. Central shelves for the bar, which are mounted on the pipe in the center;
  1. Side or rotary shelves, which are attached to the pipe to the handle that extends to the side;

  1. Suspension systems that are not attached to the bar and pipe, but to the ceiling.

The shape of the central and side shelves are cone-shaped or round.

According to their purpose and functions, bar accessories are divided into:

  1. Holders for glasses;
  2. Bottle holders;
  3. Universal - for storing things, dishes, food and serving;
  4. Hangers for cutlery, mugs, napkins, etc.

Accessories and fittings are most often made of metal or a combination of metal and glass. But the following metal variations can be in color: gold, bronze, copper, glossy and matte chrome.

The color of accessories and furniture fittings must match the color of the kitchen fittings. Read more about the combination of colors in the interior of the kitchen.

What furniture fittings are needed to create a multi-level shelf structure?

First of all, you need a pipe that performs the function of a foot and a base-fastener for the shelves. It is made of brass or nickel and most often comes in a diameter of 50 mm. The pipe (or rod) is fixed to the rod holder to the floor, side-mounted to the wall and / or to the ceiling with a ceiling mount. The bar counter is also attached to the countertop with a special flange.

How to choose the right package

Let's figure out what will really be necessary, and what is better to refuse so as not to clutter up the space.

Choosing accessories for a bar counter is necessary based on its purpose. In what capacity is it most often used: as a home bar for parties and celebrations, as a table for breakfast and snacks, an additional surface for cooking, working at a computer, or simply as an accessory that separates?

If the bar counter is for you, first of all, a place to relax with friends, then complete it with a multi-level composition of: a holder for glasses, a central shelf for bottles, a side shelf for serving and storage. If the kitchen and the counter itself are large, and you want to create the atmosphere of a real bar, then install a hinged system as well.

Using more than three shelves is permissible only if your bar counter is a bar counter, and not a breakfast table.

If you often cook at the bar table or want to use it to store kitchen utensils, then you will need: triple hangers with hooks on which you can hang ladles, a side serving shelf, a universal central storage shelf (preferably with high sides) and desired glass/bottle holder. But, if there are children in the house, then, of course, it is better to refuse this idea.

In other cases, it will be enough to hang rails on the wall with hooks for appliances, baskets for plants. Or you can just have a small cabinet or shelf for storing glasses, drinks, dishes and other items that you most often need at breakfast or while working at the computer. From the central and hanging shelves, if they are not urgently needed and your kitchen is not full, it is better to refuse.
