We make a home mini-bar. Do-it-yourself minibar: stylish ideas for creating a bar for your home

Our version of the mini bar is quite simple to manufacture, compact and roomy. It holds a lot of alcoholic drinks, and there is also a place for glasses and even glasses with shot glasses. To do DIY mini bar you will need the following materials:

• MDF;
• screws;
• glue;
• dye;
• putty.

Tools:

• saw;
• jigsaw;
• screwdriver;
• drills (30 mm, 22 mm);
• clamps;
• sandpaper.

Step 1: Planning

This is the most important part of the whole project. The first step is to decide what we want to place and store in the bar:

• wine bottles (~ 8 pieces);
• bottles with low alcohol drinks;
• corkscrew;
• wine corks;
• cutting board;
• wine glasses;
• cocktail glasses;
• glasses.

With such a list of requirements, they began to think over the dimensions of the mini-bar. The width was set at 607mm (inside) and the depth was determined by the length of the bottle of wine that would fit horizontally inside the bar.

For this project I bought a 9mm MDF sheet - 2440 x 1220mm. Here is an approximate plan for cutting this material:

• top: 340 x 607 mm;
• bottom: 340 x 607 mm;
• 2 sides: 460 x 340;
• 2 doors in front: 440 x 303;
• back: 440 x 607;
• 2 vertical partitions: 440 x 320 mm;
• 2 internal horizontal partitions: 607*320mm.

In addition, it took quite a lot of wood scraps to make a wine rack.

Step 2: Create a Wine Rack

To build a wine rack for 8 bottles of download, you need to cut 16 - 300 mm strips of spruce, they were about 20 mm thick.

The next step was sanding and cutting at a 45 degree angle at the ends (solely for aesthetics). 4 strips to attach to one of the side pieces (460 x 340 mm) were spaced vertically at 110 mm intervals. The first strip was attached to the bottom of a 9 mm sheet. Likewise, the 4 others should be attached to one of the inner parts of the rack, however this time the first strip should be placed on the bottom. The remaining 8 need to be screwed back to back on another piece. To do this, I used two strips 50 mm wide, 9 mm thick, they were 440 mm high.

Step 3: Wine glass slides

Given the limited interior space, the desire was to make the glass holder as narrow as possible while still being able to hold 2 glasses side by side. In order to find the optimal placement, glasses were bought and empirically managed to figure out how to fit them into our minibar.

After that, I cut 607 * 320 mm strips and drilled a 10 mm hole, cut out slots for the rack. At the end of the process, it turned out that the slots need to be made a little larger, so it is better not to reduce the width of the slot.

Step 4: Assembling the Case

Now we take our wine racks and coasters and all the materials cut earlier and complete the whole structure. Considering the thickness of the internal partitions at this stage, it was also decided to add slots in the sides of the bar for handles. To do this, I found a suitable spot (where the wine racks are) and drilled two 30mm holes 55mm higher from the bottom of the structure, using a jigsaw to cut out the desired holes. When all the holes are prepared and cut out, it remains only to connect all the details of the bar together.

Step 5. Making a Drawer

You can build a box from 5 pieces of MDF, cut to the desired size. In our case, the width is 215 mm and the depth is 40 mm. In the middle we make a small cut with an electric jigsaw, it will serve as a handle for opening.

Step 6. We continue the assembly

To finally assemble the bar, we use glue and screws. Attach the top and bottom boards to the side pieces. Form the center section (horizontal shelves, wine glass holder and vertical dividers). This was done by placing the bottom board 340mm above the bottom, the top shelf ~50mm below the top giving about 30mm for the cutting board and the cup holders about 20mm below the top of the bar. Insert the inside. Add the right side. Add a wine rack to the center section. Add the left side.

To install the doors, you need to slightly reduce the height of the pre-prepared pieces under the door to fit them inside the gap and it is better to remove 2 mm in width on each to ensure comfortable opening (although this parameter will vary depending on the hinges used).

Then we insert the hinges (which we cut to the desired length with a hacksaw) and first fasten the hinges to the doors, and then all together to the bar. After this step, the doors and the entire minibar can be painted. We used two coats of paint, and made the front of the door black as well.

Step 7. Minibar is ready

It remains only to fill these holy bins with essentials: vodka, gin, rum, Cointreau, vermouth, ameretto, etc., as well as cider and wine. The wine cabinet holds 6 bottles, there are also 4 beer glasses, 6 shot glasses and a shaker. The drawer is spacious enough to store a corkscrew, wine corks, knife and other accessories that are a must in any good bar. So now you have everything at your fingertips and in one place, you can use it to your health.

The bar is usually settled somewhere in the house - this is a common thing. But to make a mini bar right in the yard of the cottage, this is perhaps original. The main thing is complete conspiracy, seeing such a box modestly hanging on the wall, it is unlikely that anyone will have thoughts about a bar or something like that in their heads. And then he threw back the lid, and immediately such a surprise.

Perhaps the idea is not very practical, but many will surely like it. You can definitely surprise your friends. In principle, a shelf can be made in different versions, on a chain and on a rope, with a roof and without a roof, and it will look beautiful on any wall.

Here, for example, a polished tabletop is shackled with a neat lock.

Even when closed, the mini-bar functions as a shelf; you can put flowers or some trinkets on top. It is only desirable that there be a visor above this part of the wall, otherwise the whole structure will quickly become unusable in the rain.

In general, try, as you can see, making such a mini-bar is not difficult. Whether it will be useful to you or not is another matter, but the idea is original.

And then a few photos of how it's done. We fasten all end parts with screws, and the upper sides, if you make them, can be put on glue. This is more of a decorative part that does not carry any load.

For the hinged panel, you need to buy piano hinges, although this is already an outdated variety, but in this case they will not look bad. in most cases, grooving of holes is usually not needed, so you can install immediately. To keep the lid on, magnets are usually installed at home, but in this case it will be more reliable to fix the chain.

To make a mini bar with your own hands, you do not have to enroll in the Skillful Hands circle. It is enough to use handy tools and materials, and add a little imagination. You do not need to purchase many varieties of glasses, only three will be enough: rock, high bull and glasses.
