How to choose a petrol cutter - a rating of the best models and technical characteristics of the best manufacturers. Which gas mower is better to choose: basic characteristics, rating of the best models What can be with a brushcutter

Among the leaders in the production of professional gardening equipment are Husqvarna, Echo, Hitachi, Stihl, whose petrol trimmers are distinguished by their reliability, high functionality and good technical characteristics. It is also worth noting the attractive and ergonomic design of modern products. The aforementioned manufacturers also produce amateur and semi-professional grade petrol trimmers at affordable prices.

The products of domestic companies (Energomash, Interskol) have good power and good technical equipment. With regular maintenance and timely repairs, it is designed for a long service life.

Models of petrol trimmers of little-known Chinese manufacturers, although they bribe with a low price, often break down and do not last long. The purchase for a couple of seasons can be justified by the low cost, however, the capacity of such products is low. If repairs are needed, the service refuses to repair them, arguing that it is faster and cheaper to buy a new device.

Choosing the best gas trimmer: basic aspects

When choosing a benzotrimmer, indicators such as power and performance, which should correspond to the volume and intensity of the work to be done. For garden maintenance and planned tool use 1-2 times a month, it is advisable to buy a low-power petrol cutter that can cope with both weeds and mowing the lawn, and will last more than one season. Although the lifespan also depends on the manufacturer, under light load this aspect is not so important - as a rule, a low-power tool is inexpensive, and the price difference between models from popular brands and Chinese companies is small.

For frequent use and work 6-8 hours a day, it is better to buy a high-power and good quality petrol trimmer from a well-known manufacturer of professional tools (Echo, Husqvarna, Stihl, etc.). Long service life and trouble-free operation justify the high price of such units.

You also need to consider who will be the operator - a man or a woman and his physique. By weight petrol cutters vary greatly, and it will be difficult for a girl or teenager to work with a heavy tool.

Many gas trimmers have knapsack suspension- this point is quite important when choosing a tool for long-term continuous use. Units with classic shoulder straps are suitable for infrequent work.

From rod type the performance of the brushcutter depends directly - in models with a curved bar, the movement of the cutting tool is given by a steel cable that is not designed for high loads. But the metal shaft in structures with a straight bar, due to its strength, allows you to work with more power.

Cutting tool type determines the possibility of using the benzotrimmer in certain conditions. The line is designed for cutting grass and weeds, and if there is a metal knife in the kit, it becomes possible to cut down hard bushes and young trees.

The popularity of the American invention for mowing grass - brushcutters, is growing exponentially. The number of land owners is growing. To maintain order and proper appearance on the site, they increasingly use a motorized tool - a brushcutter. In many places in the garden or on a large area, it is not at all easy to manually complete the work efficiently and quickly. The topic of today's article is how to choose a brushcutter.

Various brands and manufacturers offer a wide variety of trimmer and lawn mower models. It is difficult to choose the right equipment in terms of quality and cost from the variety of assortment. All types of mowers significantly differ in functionality, the material from which the devices are made, and design. The purpose of the article is to acquaint readers with the types of equipment, functionality and principles of work. And, of course, to solve the problem - how to choose a gasoline brushcutter, what to look for when buying.

Types of brushcutters

Equipment for mowing grass is divided into 4 main types: household, semi-professional, professional, premium.

Household appliances are the most popular among the population. The tool has enough power to process an average plot of 6-25 acres. A feature of household brushcutters, in contrast to professional equipment, is a curved collapsible bar. This design allows you to conveniently transport and store the device. As a rule, the power of household brushcutters is no more than two horsepower.

Semi-professional brushcutters have improved technical characteristics, more engine power and are in a higher price category. The equipment is used by landscape designers and amateur gardeners.

Professional brushcutters have an increased engine power (over 1.8 horsepower). This allows large areas to be treated over a long period of time. The tools differ from the previous versions: non-separable sealed rods, the type of cutting elements, the presence of forged shafts inside the rods, high-quality gearboxes. In addition to a cutting element with a thick line, the professional gas trimmer kit contains replaceable steel blades. The productivity, reliability and cost of such a tool is much higher than that of household braids.

The premium tool has a high level of performance, low gasoline and oil consumption. These brushcutters are ideal for harvesting large amounts of hay on farms.

By the type of motor, garden tools are divided into 3 types: electric, gasoline, battery mowers. The power of the electric trimmer is much less than that of a unit with a gasoline engine. The use of an electric mower is limited due to the need for electricity. Mostly household tools are equipped with this type of engine. The disadvantage of such equipment is the prohibition on mowing wet grass. The advantage of the electric device is that there is no need to constantly refuel. Other advantages of the electric trimmer: environmental friendliness, absence of combustion products, reasonable price.

Petrol cutters have great power and performance. Fuel consumption depends on the model. The internal combustion engine uses a mixture of oil and gasoline as fuel. Disadvantages of such a tool: high cost, significant weight, periodic refueling (additional costs).

The cordless type of tool is not very powerful. Battery trimmers by time and area of use. The advantages of such a device include: autonomy, low weight, environmental friendliness (no exhaust gases). Usually the weight of the device does not exceed 4 kilograms. The tool is suitable for small areas that do not have a lot of work.

The device of brushcutters and the principle of operation

All devices for mowing grass differ in purpose and functionality. Each model has its own technical characteristics and performance. But most modern brushcutters are structurally similar. The main units of the devices are the following parts: mowing head, bar, handles, motor, cutting elements.

The mowing head performs the function of feeding the cutting element (line). The line is fed after the cutting head touches the ground. In this case, the "Tap'N'Go" technology is applied. This part of the device is subdivided into 3 types: manual, semi-automatic, automatic head.

The bar in mowers is of several types: collapsible, curved, straight. The first type of bar is equipped with household appliances. The collapsible rod type is convenient for storage and transportation. Professional and premium mowers have straight, non-separable rods, as they have a cast shaft.

Brushcutter handles are of bicycle type (t / u shape) and d-shape. Household mowers rarely use the first handle type. The t / u shape is suitable for wide grip and at different levels. In the D-shape, the handle is held in one hand. And the other hand holds the barbell. This type of handle is ideal for small mowing widths and on one plane.

The motor for brushcutters with a gasoline engine is of two types: four-stroke and two-stroke. The first type of motor has 2 tanks - one for oil, the other for gasoline. In the second version, there is one tank for a mixture of gasoline and oil. Monoblock and knapsack brushcutters differ in terms of engine location. The first type of trimmer has a motor on the boom. The second type of motor is placed in a backpack on the back.

Professional brushcutters, in addition to a cutting head with a line, are equipped with steel replaceable blades. Oil and gasoline in two-stroke engines are mixed in a ratio of 1 to 50. For high-speed engines, it is especially important to use high-quality and clean oil. Otherwise, rapid wear and engine failure is ensured. Gasoline, too, must be used only of high quality, not lower than the AI-92 brand.

The cutting parts are subdivided into knives, line or disc. Discs and knives are used when cutting grass and bushes over a large area.

The number of petals can be up to 8 pieces. Such a tool copes with a large amount of work, with tall and twisting grass, with branches.

Many tines are used in professional brushcutters. Such units are able to cope with shrubs and branches. The cutting elements are covered with a special protective cover. Line thickness from 2.4 mm is one of the indicators of a professional device. In budget models, fewer teeth and line are often used in inexpensive units that are thinner than in professional braids.

Which brushcutter to choose

For a large volume of work, the performance and power of the unit are of particular importance. For mowing grass in a small garden area, it is more profitable to buy an inexpensive high-quality model with a two-stroke engine a couple of times a month. It is better to choose inexpensive options for brushcutters from trusted manufacturers, so that in a few days you do not have to repair a cheap fake. A good option for a small area is the Patriot or Champion. Budget models have up to 2 horsepower, curved booms and d-shaped handles.

The high cost of professional brushcutters is justified by the quality and excellent power. Such units are notable for their reliability in operation and a long service life. The devices are suitable for continuous operation for 2-10 hours. With a large volume of work - more than 15-20 acres, of a complicated degree (tall weaving grass, bush), it is better to give preference to an instrument with a rigid rod, U-shaped handle and engine power from 2 horsepower. In addition to the fishing line, the set of a powerful unit should include a knife with several blades.

When choosing a brushcutter, the following parameters should be taken into account: speed, type of bar, weight, type of cutting parts, shape of the handle, capacity of the fuel tank. The higher the rotational speed, the more gentle the mode is for the grass stalks (for new growth). The straight bar is designed for a large amount of work. When the cutting part strikes a hard obstacle, the curved rod absorbs well. The collapsible bar is convenient to transport and store. In these cases, the tool does not take up much space.

When purchasing a tool, consider the weight. A brushcutter with an average engine power weighs 5-8 kilograms on average. Some professional devices weigh more than 8 kilograms. Therefore, when choosing, you need to look at the complete set. The brushcutter must come with either a belt or a knapsack (for heavy models).

Cutting elements in brushcutters are represented by: saw blades, knives, cords. Professional scythes are equipped with a saw blade. this option is suitable for cutting very tough stems and branches. Petrol cutters equipped with knives are designed for cutting coarse dense grass and thin branches. The number of knives depends on the power of the motor. Cord (fishing line) is used in household tools. The thicker the line, the coarser the grass can be cut. The thickness of the cord directly depends on the power of the motor.

Brushcutter selection parameters

As described above, there are several types of brushcutters. There are a lot of models produced. Sometimes it is difficult to make a choice in favor of a particular instrument. How to choose a brushcutter for the home, and what characteristics to pay special attention to - we will consider in detail. A high-quality and even cut of grass will work better with a gas cutter with a steel knife.

For example, electric or cordless scythes are supplied mostly with plastic blades and line. On an uneven surface, a brushcutter with a small knife, in which the knife is sharpened on both sides, is suitable. For a large volume of work, it is better to choose a petrol cutter with triangular blades or with a disc as a cutting element. You should pay attention to the diameter of the knife - the larger it is, the more productive the scythe.

For a working area larger than the standard, the best solution would be a braid with a non-separable bar. Inside a strong metal rod is an equally strong rigid shaft. The reliability and durability of such a tool is higher than that of trimmers with flexible rods, plastic knives and fishing line. In addition to tall grass, such braids can easily cope with shrubs. Another positive point is tightness.

The service life of the equipment increases significantly due to the absence of dust and dirt in the inner parts of the streamer. The disadvantages include the increased weight and cost of the unit. A tool with a two-stroke motor is suitable for a small area. In addition to light weight and size, money is saved. True, there are some drawbacks compared to a four-stroke engine. Increased vibration, exhaust and noise levels.

Which company to choose - the best brushcutter manufacturers

There are a lot of garden tool manufacturers. The buyer often has difficulty - which brushcutter to choose from a variety of brands and models. There are a number of leading companies in the production of professional and household appliances. The following are the best brands and companies that make brushcutters.

  • Stihl.
  • Honda.
  • Hitachi.
  • Makita.
  • Energomash.
  • Echo.
  • Interskol.
  • Husqvarna.
  • Caiman.

The most popular among buyers are mowers of famous brands: Swedish Husqvarna, Japanese Makita, Hitachi, Honda, Russian Interskol and Energomash

How much does a brushcutter cost

Petrol cutters with a four-stroke engine are quiet and economical. But the cost of a quality tool from popular brands varies from 15 to 45 thousand rubles. The premium tool exceeds this cost.

For example, a professional tool Echo and Husqvarna costs between 19-40 thousand rubles. The average price of budget household petrol cutters with a two-stroke engine is 5-18 thousand rubles. For example, the average price of high-quality household brushcutters Caliber 1200 and Patriot PT 3355 is 6,000 rubles. The minimum average cost of household petrol cutters from the Husqvarna company is 5 thousand rubles.

Better build quality 5 Successful balancing

A country house is a great thing. Silence, clean air, closeness of nature. But there are more problems. If in a city you are only concerned about keeping the interior of an apartment in order, then private ownership requires a completely different approach. Landscaping takes a lot of time. You have to cut the grass and deal with unwanted vegetation.

Here a trimmer comes to the rescue, using which, you can tidy up the lawn, mow weeds. There are two main types of such a tool: electric and gasoline. If you have a large plot, then the latter option is better. Carrying a long extension cord with you is a tedious and unproductive exercise.

To choose the right trimmer, you need to find answers to a few simple questions before buying:

  1. How long and intensely is the tool supposed to be used? For rare jobs in a small area with soft grass, a household trimmer is sufficient, for large areas you need a professional model.
  2. Which engine's type prefer? Two-stroke have a simpler design, but require preparation of the fuel mixture, four-stroke, in turn, are easier to operate, but more difficult to repair.
  3. Power... Almost any trimmers can easily cope with grass and soft plants; for the growth of rose hips, blackberries, burdocks, a tool with a more powerful motor is needed.
  4. Rod type... The straight bar is used in trimmers with large engine displacement, as in this case the torque is transmitted by means of a rigid steel shaft. A rope that is used in a curved one is less reliable.
  5. Volume of the tank... Affects the total weight of the tool, as well as the operating time without refueling.
  6. Versatility... It's good when you can use both line and discs: there is a different attachment for each type of work.

In our review - the most popular gasoline trimmers, each of which has many positive reviews from real customers. When distributing places in the ranking, the main criteria were:

  • the total number of recent sales of the model;
  • the number of positive ratings given by the owners after using the tool;
  • brand reputation;
  • professional recommendations.

The best inexpensive petrol trimmers: budget up to 10,000 r.

In order to cut off too high grass a couple of times a season and remove weeds in a summer cottage, it is quite possible to choose an acceptable tool for little money. If you operate it in the mode declared by the manufacturer, do not overload it, it will last long enough. Of course, you should not expect excellent ergonomic qualities and high power in this case, but such models are usually not bought for hard work all day long. Usually, such trimmers successfully cope with correctly set tasks, and small inconveniences in the form of low power or not too comfortable grip are compensated for by budget savings.

5 RedVerg RD-GB435

4-stroke trimmer at an attractive price
Country: Russia (made in China)
Average price: 7500 rubles.
Rating (2019): 4.6

Most petrol trimmer models have a two-stroke engine. That is, for their operation, gasoline mixed with oil in a prescribed proportion is required. Inside the mechanism, the oil is separated and goes to lubricate the parts, and the gasoline is burned out. It's worth noting that two-stroke engines are often used in gasoline-powered tools, and trimmers are no exception. There is nothing wrong with that, although it does cause some inconvenience. But here we have a full-fledged gasoline, four-stroke engine, for which the fuel does not need to be diluted, and the oil is poured into the engine separately. What are the benefits of this? First, the power is significantly increased. This petrol cutter, despite its compact size, has a power of 2.5 kilowatts, which allows it to cut even the thickest grass.

Secondly, the engine heats up less, which is also very important. However, there is one drawback - weight. This model really weighs more than its counterparts, and only one shoulder strap is included. When buying this petrol trimmer, we strongly advise you to purchase a special strap for carrying on your back.

4 AL-KO 112387 FRS 4125

The best option for giving
Country: China
Average price: 9 990 rubles.
Rating (2019): 4.7

A Chinese-made model AL-KO 112387 was included in the review of the best gasoline trimmers for summer cottages. This is a fairly powerful model that does an excellent job with its direct responsibilities for cutting grass, weeds and young shrubs. The capacity of the fuel tank is quite large here - 0.7 liters. For comparison, the Stihl FS 55 only fits in 0.33 liters. However, this should not be considered the main competitive advantage, since the large tank gives the trimmer more weight. In addition, during operation, the device still requires breaks to avoid overheating of the engine.

The fact that this trimmer is designed for continuous operation is evidenced by the presence of such an important function as an anti-vibration system, which significantly alleviates the load on the user's hands. The boom of the AL-KO 112387 is not collapsible, which makes the structure particularly robust.

AL-KO 112387 FRS 4125 is one of the most popular, inexpensive models, which is often bought for household, summer cottage needs.

Many years of experience in using this trimmer allowed us to collect fairly objective reviews. What is positive about AL-KO 112387 is noted by the majority of users:

  • Minimum vibration during operation
  • Wide adjustment range for shoulder strap and suspension
  • Good equipment. The manufacturer did not stint and put a reel with a line, a knife and a shoulder strap in the kit.
  • Adequate price
  • High reliability

Disadvantages, however, also take place:

  • There are minor complaints about the lack of the main consumable for sale - fishing line.
  • Sometimes there are problems with starting the engine. Some users are advised to reduce the proportion of oil (up to 20 g per 1 liter of gasoline).

3 ELITECH T 26

Best price
Country: China
Average price: 3890 rubles.
Rating (2019): 4.9

A benzotrimmer does not have to be expensive, and a well-known Chinese brand has proven this. Before us is the best trimmer in terms of price and quality ratio. We already see the price very well, and numerous reviews on the network unambiguously tell about the quality. People write that the machine does a great job with grass, but you shouldn't expect much from this device.

To begin with, its rated power is only 1.2 kilowatts, which is not so much for a petrol cutter. A knife is provided on the bar for cutting coarse grass, but in fact, the trimmer copes with it very badly. Simply put, for a summer residence, this is a great option, but only on the condition that you are not going to chop reeds or thick stalks of grass with it. However, this cannot be attributed to disadvantages, since in this price category of our rating, most trimmers have such technical characteristics and this is the norm. If the tasks you set are more difficult, you should pay attention to more expensive models.

2 Huter GGT-1000T

Good anti-vibration system
Country: Germany
Average price: 6640 rub.
Rating (2019): 4.8

The Huter GGT-1000T trimmer differs from the famous German brand by the affordable price of the product for many. At the same time, the petrol cutter has sufficient power (1 l / s), thanks to which it is possible to process garden areas with abundant vegetation.

The 700 ml tank capacity allows the trimmer to be used longer than comparable models from competing brands. The rigid drive shaft gives the product reliability and durability.

The anti-vibration system significantly reduces the noise of the working product and dampens vibrations that negatively affect the user's hands. The device is equipped with protection against accidental activation and a gas trigger lock. Other characteristics: engine volume - 33 cm³, tank capacity - 0.7 liters, knife rotation speed - 7500 rpm, cut strip width - 25 cm.

The Huter GGT-1000T is one of the few trimmers to date that is produced in the homeland of the brand - in Germany, and not in China, as is customary with a number of other brands.

As we have already said, there are currently models with electric and gasoline engines on the market. Each technology has its own advantages and disadvantages. Which? Let's find out in the table.

1 PATRIOT PT 555

The most productive budget trimmer
Country: USA (made in China)
Average price: 9399 rub.
Rating (2019): 4.9

The PATRIOT PT 555 trimmer of American origin has a power (3.0 l / s), thanks to which it can easily cope with even small bushes. The powerful gasoline engine with extended service life provides high performance of the device and relieves the user of the problem of winding cut grass on the shaft.

A rigid transmission shaft that transfers torque to the gearbox, and from the output shaft of the gearbox to the cutting implements, provides the trimmer with greater reliability and durability.

The throttle lock located on the control handle prevents accidental operation and ensures the safety of the user. The package includes not only a fishing line and a knife, but also a saw blade, with which you can get rid of overgrowth of thin trees. To prepare the fuel mixture, the kit includes a canister with a measuring scale that allows you to prepare it in the required proportions. The best gasoline trimmers: price - quality

For large areas and frequent use, the best option is a semi-professional tool, the price range of which is 13,000 - 17,000 rubles. This category contains really convenient models, reliable and hassle-free in operation.

5 Oleo-Mac SPARTA 25 ECO ALUMINUM

Successful balancing
Country: China
Average price: 15100 rubles.
Rating (2019): 4.6

This Chinese brand often becomes a guest of various ratings, and the rating of gasoline trimmers is no exception. What are its advantages, and what is the justification for such a price, and it should be noted that it is quite high. The manufacturer tried to create a tool with a minimum of operating vibrations. Here the boom is perfectly balanced and the motor is completely isolated and has multiple dampers. Indeed, as they say in the reviews, the petrol brush practically does not vibrate, which makes working with it very comfortable, and the hands do not get tired even after several hours of mowing the grass.

But is everything so perfect? Unfortunately no! First, the engine is rather weak here. Its power is less than a kilowatt, so if your summer cottage is captured by adult grass, this petrol trimmer will not cope with it. Secondly, the tool weighs quite a lot, more than six kilograms, and this is taking into account the very small fuel tank, which will often have to be refueled. Yes, the build quality is excellent here, but the specifications are too low for this price point.

4 HITACHI CG25EUS

Better build quality
Country: Japan
Average price: 17,500 rubles.
Rating (2019): 4.7

The benzotrimmer is a tool that works at maximum load, and it is not surprising that many models often fail. Even the best and most expensive options need to be spared and given frequent respite. Also, in some models, the unwinding of the modules is observed due to constant vibration, and this becomes a problem. But there are some tools for which this problem is almost completely eliminated.

This brushcutter has the best build quality. In general, this is a distinctive feature of this brand, but we will not take the manufacturer's word for it, and look at the reviews, and they are overwhelmingly positive. Yes, the tool costs a lot, but in this case you pay for the quality. Such a benzotrimmer will serve for a very long time and will not require repair. Simply put, if you set a difficult task for the tool, and the grass has completely captured your summer cottage, we strongly recommend that you pay attention to this model. There are no difficult tasks for her.

Safety goggles with wide side protection are included as standard to keep the wearer safe while working.

The best petrol trimmers for professional use

Finally we got to the most productive models among the petrol trimmers. These braids can be called professional tools. They have a high engine power, which makes it possible to mow even rather coarse grass and young trees. Reliability is also high - yet these trimmers are designed to handle large areas, and therefore will easily survive continuous continuous operation under high load.

Yes, without flaws anywhere. In particular, professional grade brushcutters are slightly heavier and more expensive than simpler competitors. But, I repeat, for owners of large plots such a tool is simply irreplaceable. For you to understand, I will give a personal example: a model similar to the heroes of this category was able to cope with hard grass more than a meter in height in an area of about 8 acres in one evening of almost continuous work!

If you are convinced that you need such a device, you are welcome to our rating.

5 Caiman WX33

Buildable trimmer from renowned brands
Country: China
Average price: 33,000 rubles.
Rating (2019): 4.6

In this price category of our rating, eminent brands that are known to everyone are mainly represented. But this company is not widely advertised, but the trimmer got into our rating due to the mass of positive reviews left on the network by real users. The tool is praised for almost everything, from the package bundle to the build quality and durability. A powerful four-stroke engine is installed on board the petrol trimmer, producing almost three kilowatts, which allows you to fight even the tallest grass.

Are there any disadvantages? Unfortunately there is! One of the main disadvantages is the lack of spare parts on the market. Yes, the trimmer is of high quality and reliable, but any tool, sooner or later, fails. Finding parts for this model will be difficult, and you will have to order them from China, and wait a couple of weeks, or even months. Service centers are also reluctant to take up this brand, as they are not yet familiar with it, and simply do not want to risk it. Well, so far we cannot call this model the best, but it is highly likely that in a couple of years everything will change, and the brand will rise a couple of steps in the ranking.

4 Honda UMK 435

Best quality
Country: Japan
Average price: 28,000 rubles.
Rating (2019): 4.7

If you are looking for the most reliable gasoline trimmer that you plan to load with work to the fullest, then be sure to pay attention to this model. The Japanese company Honda is famous for its products. First of all, they are known for their high quality, and petrol cutters are no exception. Yes, the tool is quite expensive, but its price is fully justified, since this is a professional model, and it hardly makes sense to buy it for a summer residence.

The engine power is 2.5 kilowatts, which allows you to fight the tallest and densest grass. The motor is four-stroke, capable of developing such power with a relatively small size. Also, the manufacturer has almost completely got rid of vibration, which is destructive for this type of instrument. Several spacers between the gearbox and the boom make it as convenient and comfortable as possible, which is especially important when removing grass in large areas.

3 Makita EBH341U

Optimal price-quality ratio
Country: Japan
Average price: 23 250 rubles.
Rating (2019): 4.7

The phrase "Made in Japan" for many buyers is almost the main selection criterion. Indeed, the Japanese know a lot about not only development, but also high-quality production of all kinds of equipment. Makita, as befits the Japanese, strictly honors traditions, and therefore choosing the EBH341U model you can be sure that you will not be disappointed in your choice.

Yes, the motor is rather weak (only 1 hp), but it is a four-stroke, which means there will be much less vibration and noise. Yes, the weight and dimensions do not shine with figures either, but the price is also the lowest. And so you can go on for a long time. The trimmer does not seem to have the best, but not bad characteristics either. It's just a solid midrange for a fairly low cost.

2 Echo SRM-350ES

Excellent equipment
Country: Japan (made in China)
Average price: 24,200 rubles.
Rating (2019): 4.8

Equipment from Echo, including the SRM-350ES trimmer, is quite interesting, first of all, to an ordinary buyer. It has good reliability and performance without being discouraged by cost. Yes, some parameters do not stand out with reference indicators, but they are quite enough for most cases.

The main problem with this model is its engine. No, it is quite good and the quality is high, but it is two-stroke, and this leaves a certain mark. For example, a petrol-oil mixture must be prepared before use. In addition, it makes noise and vibrates a little stronger than competitors. Fortunately, an anti-vibration system is present here.

The advantages of such an engine include the ability to work in any position. Due to the fact that oil is poured here not separately, but mixed with gasoline, turning the tool will not lead to "oil starvation". Therefore, it is worth recommending this model primarily to people who plan to use the trimmer on a bumpy surface.

1 Husqvarna 524R

The best choice
Country: Sweden
Average price: 35,000 rubles.
Rating (2019): 4.9

When it comes to the quality of garden tools, the first thing that comes to mind for many is the Swedish company Husqvarna. And this is not surprising, since for many years now it has been producing the best tool, the only drawback of which is its relatively high price. It makes no sense to buy such a gas trimmer for a summer residence, since it is too powerful and expensive. This is a professional tool that can be loaded, as they say, to the fullest, and not be afraid that it will fail.

As for the technical characteristics, let's start with the fact that it has a four-stroke engine, for which gasoline does not need to be diluted with oil. Its power is almost 3 kilowatts, that is, the tool can easily cope with any grass, and when installing knives it is even able to cut down young trees. The build quality is excellent. The trimmer does not hum, vibrate or spin, as is often the case with cheaper models. Well, and an important aspect is the equipment. By purchasing this gasoline trimmer, you do not have to buy additional parts for it, such as a belt, lubricant or a banal funnel. Everything is already included.

To begin with, in order to avoid confusion, let's define the basic concepts. Motokosa is a garden tool that is used to remove grass and small shrubs through the use of a motor or mechanical action. However, several types of brushcutters fall under the general concept, which differ significantly from each other.

Three types of brushcutters:

  • Gasoline - most run on ordinary motor gasoline AI-92. This trimmer is easy to use due to its mobility and the ability to work in almost any conditions. You can take such a petrol cutter with you to your dacha or any area, stock up on fuel and work for a long time.
  • Electric brushcutters are quite economical, although not the most practical. You will need a constant power source to work. If not, you can use a generator. It should also be remembered that in this case there will be inconveniences due to the wires.
  • Cordless brushcutters are one of the most practical brushcutters, the batteries of which must be charged before use. They are distinguished by good autonomy, economy and ease of use. Of the shortcomings, only a long charging time can be noted.

If you are not sure which type to choose for yourself, determine in what conditions the trimmer will be used. If there is no need for autonomy, you can fold the gasoline and battery models. But if the area where you plan to work is remote, it is better to take a brushcutter that can work autonomously for a long time.

Brushcutter manufacturers

In our company, you can choose models from three leading manufacturers:

  1. Husqvarna is a Swedish company that is one of the leading manufacturers of saws, garden equipment and lawn mowers. Interesting fact: it is Husqvarna's lawn mowers that are supplied for the NASCAR series, which testifies to the high quality and level of customer confidence. The main office is located in Germany, and the production has existed since 1689. Standardized European quality, reliability and trouble-free operation have made Husqvarna products a true benchmark in the world of lawn mowers.
  2. Honda is a prime example of how the latest innovations and ideas are successfully translated into practice. The Honda UMK435T UEDT brushcutter presented in our catalog is equipped with a 4-stroke engine, has a cutting width of 44 cm, a weight of 7.51 kg and a 0.63 l tank. An excellent choice for regular use in both small and fairly large areas. Honda doesn't even need an introduction. Its products (and brushcutters in particular) have long been known all over the world and are in active demand among buyers.
  3. MTD is a manufacturer of affordable and practical brushcutters, most of which are equipped with 2-stroke overhead engines (brushcutter models from MTD 890 and newer are equipped with a 4-stroke engine). The company has been operating in the domestic market for over 15 years and is in great demand among customers.

Each of the manufacturers considered has a number of advantages and has established itself as a real expert in its field. We guarantee that no matter what brushcutter from these companies you choose for your own use, the quality will be at its best, and the functionality at the level.

Answers to frequently asked questions

2-stroke or 4-stroke engine - which is better?

If you want to save money, you can safely choose brushcutter models with two-stroke engines. They do their job perfectly. True, there are a couple of unpleasant moments here: they make more noise than 4-stroke, vibration is more noticeable, there is more smoke and burning, and mixing gasoline with oil is not always convenient. Four-stroke engines are more expensive, which significantly increases the cost of brushcutters. But such an engine is more environmentally friendly, reliable in operation, it can be turned over and, in general, work with greater comfort.

Is it better to mow - with a knife or with a fishing line?

In our brushcutters, a line and a knife are included. The question is what and when to use it rationally. The line will do just fine with ordinary grass and small weeds. If the weeds are large and thick, or even trees / bushes have sprouted, a knife should be used. You need to be extremely careful with him and work only on an area previously cleared of debris. Otherwise, there is a risk of getting on bottles, stones and other solid debris, which can rebound from the impact and cause serious injury both to you and to those around you. Knives can be used for different types of grass: dense, dry, reed, etc. The line can be of different diameters and cross-sections: round, star-shaped and twisted.

What is the best trimmer line diameter to use?

Most modern brushcutters have a standard diameter of 2.4 mm line. If necessary, you can use up to 3.3mm line. It is no longer recommended as it can cut the grass poorly, but only break it. A line that is too thin is also not the best option, since it can simply break with active use or due to impact on a hard object.

What is the difference between brushcutters and well-known manufacturers and little-known Chinese brands? What caused the serious price difference and is it worth trying to save money on the purchase? And what if the brushcutters are almost identical in size, power and weight?

One of the main factors that affect the cost of a brushcutter is the engine. A quality model simply cannot be cheap. If you want to save money, go for 2-stroke engines. Are ready to pay more for reliability and ease of use - 4-stroke. You also need to pay attention to the drive shaft, which can be flexible or rigid. The second is more expensive and more durable. In Chinese brushcutters, as a rule, low-quality engines and questionable drive shafts are installed, although all other parameters can be almost identical to more expensive branded models. The conclusions are obvious: buying cheap Chinese counterparts is not a good idea.

Which brushcutters are the most reliable and user-friendly?

If you just need to mow the grass from time to time on a small plot of land, you can safely choose brushcutters with a two-stroke engine. Technically, such brushcutters are much simpler and more convenient to operate. But if comfort, convenience and quiet operation are important for you, it is better to give preference to models with a four-stroke engine. But be prepared for the fact that a brushcutter that meets high operational requirements will cost significantly more.

Why are the handles on many brushcutters noticeably different and which handle type should you choose?

Brushcutters designed for mowing large areas are equipped with bicycle-type handles. They are the ones that are used most often. It is convenient to work with them on large areas - hands do not get so tired. However, the mowing accuracy is not high enough. If you need to carefully clean the grass near trees, decorative elements, borders, etc., you should choose brushcutters with loop-shaped handles. This does not mean, of course, that a particular grip poses any serious limitation to the user. But a clear understanding of the work ahead will help you choose the best option.

In addition to the above characteristics, there are several more important points that you should pay attention to when choosing:

  • Brushcutter power. It is measured in kilowatts. 1 kilowatt is 1.36 horsepower. If you plan to work on a small plot of land, a kilowatt will be enough.
  • Construction weight. Most modern models have a weight of 4-8 kg. Powerful brushcutters carry more weight. Pay attention that the set includes a special belt with which the brushcutter will be fixed on the body. With it, your hands will not get too tired due to the heavy weight of the brushcutter.
  • The presence of a gearbox. With a gearbox, the service life of the brushcutter is significantly increased, and the load on the engine becomes less. But in models with a gearbox, it is required to change the lubricant regularly - at least once every 10-15 operating hours.
  • Anti-vibration system. If it comes with a brushcutter, this is a big plus for you. It is much more convenient and comfortable to work with such equipment. All well-known manufacturers of brushcutters without fail equip their products with branded anti-vibration systems.
  • Primer. It is a manual fuel pump, due to which the number of starting jerks of the starter is reduced when the brushcutter is not used for a long time.

Summing up, we can say that your choice should be made primarily depending on the conditions in which the brushcutter will be used and how intensive the operation will be. If the information provided in the article is not enough for you to make your choice, we recommend that you contact the managers of the AV-Techprom online store. They will tell you how to choose a trimmer for your needs and requests, how you can save money and how to work with the selected equipment as efficiently as possible.

For a long time, the scythe and the lawn mower were the main tools for combating thickets of grass and weeds. An ordinary scythe is a very simple and light tool that does not take up much space during storage, but it is almost impossible to get an even lawn with it. Lawn mowers create the perfect turf, but fail in difficult terrain, under bushes, or near fences. An alternative that combines the advantages of both units is a grass trimmer. The editorial staff of the YANashla website offers you an overview of the best petrol trimmers in 2019.

The trimmer is considered one of the most convenient mechanized lawn mowers. Designed primarily for work on relief terrain. According to the energy source, gasoline, electric, battery trimmers are distinguished. The second and third have a low noise level, but they cannot cope with large volumes of work. Therefore, gasoline trimmers are popular with most summer residents, gardeners and farmers.
The market offers a wide selection of models costing from 4,000 to 70,000 rubles.

Stihl, Husqvarna, Champion are traditionally considered the best manufacturers.

Despite the variety of models, all trimmers have one design basis and consist of:

  • a long hollow rod (can be one-piece and collapsible), on which all parts of the device are fixed;
  • engine;
  • a working head equipped with a cutting line, discs or knives;
  • a rotating shaft or cable passing through a channel inside the rod and connecting the motor to the head;
  • pens;
  • fasteners (strap) for fixing the trimmer in relation to the body.

Gas trimmers can be divided into two broad categories: household and professional. Household models have low power and are designed to care for adjacent areas.

Advantages of household models:

  • low weight (on average about 7-8 kg), due to the use of a variety of plastic parts;
  • increased security measures, since it is implied to be used by an inexperienced user;
  • not demanding in care and maintenance.

Disadvantages:

  • have a narrow specialization (one or two cutting elements included);
  • it is important to avoid overheating of the device, for many models the operating time is 20-30 minutes, after which you need to take a break and let the mechanism cool down;
  • not resistant to mechanical damage.

Professional petrol trimmers are equipped with high-power engines, a set of interchangeable nozzles and additional elements that facilitate control. They can serve large areas, performing many operations.

Advantages of professional trimmers:

  • time of continuous work without overheating 7–8 hours;
  • resistant to vibration, dust, moisture;
  • robust housing that protects the unit from mechanical damage;
  • high maintainability, most of the parts can be replaced in whole or in part;
  • extended list of functions due to a large number of additional attachments.

Disadvantages:

  • high price.

Before purchasing any model, it is important to decide on the parameters that determine the functionality of the trimmer. Specifications to watch out for:

  • power (kW) is the main indicator that determines the strength of the main working unit - the motor. The higher the power of the device, the thicker and tougher stems it can cut. Models from 170 to 550 W are intended for lawn care only. They use thin line. Devices with a power of 0.6-1kW can be used for cutting tall herbaceous plants with a large stem and wet grass. They use thicker fishing line with a larger diameter. Such units are perfect for servicing small summer cottages. Even more powerful devices (from 1.5 kW) are equipped with knives and discs, they can cut even young bushes and easily process an area of more than ten acres.
  • engine type - can be two- and four-stroke. Household trimmers are equipped with compact and lightweight two-stroke engines with a power of 0.6 to 3.3 kW. The peculiarity of this type is that only a mixture of gasoline (more often AI-92) and special oil for two-stroke engines needs to be poured into it. The mixture is prepared in a certain proportion, the violation of which is unacceptable, since it leads to the failure of the instrument even before the expiration of the warranty period. Four-stroke engines are filled with clean gasoline, and oil is supplied separately from a special tank. They have higher efficiency and eco-level, while fuel is consumed quite economically. They are less noisy.
  • cutting elements - nozzles made of different materials, differing in shape, thickness, purpose.
Cutting element typeAppointment
1.6mm linelawn grass
Line with a diameter of 3 mmtall grass and herbaceous plants with not too thick stems
Two-bladed knifemowing of young, succulent grass, with thin stems
Three-pronged knifeperennial grasses and weeds
Four-pronged knifedestruction of thick-stemmed plants, weeds, and dense thickets
Eight Prong Knifeused when making hay
Forty-teeth knifeused for mowing grass and destroying thin trees (trunk thickness about 30mm)
Eighty-pronged discfor cutting shrubs, thick twigs and branches
  • type of trimmer drive - rotation of the cutting element can be provided in two ways: using a steel cable or a straight shaft with a gearbox.
  • weight is an important indicator for operator comfort. It fluctuates within a fairly wide range from 2 to 10-12 kg.

When choosing a model, keep in mind that after refueling, the petrol trimmer will become 1.0-1.5 kg heavier, depending on the volume of the fuel tank.

  • type of pen - this indicator also depends on how convenient it will be to work with the device. The T-shaped (bicycle) shape is convenient when processing large areas, makes it possible to operate the tool with both hands. The J-shaped handle makes it easy to operate the tool when mowing lawns. D-shape - requires a certain skill of work, since you need to hold the structure with both hands one above the other. Such models are more maneuverable.

If you need to keep the lawn in perfect order, a light petrol cutter with a two-stroke engine with a power of 0.5-0.7 kW, equipped with a cutting line with a diameter of 1.4-2.4 mm, is suitable. For example, the Husqvarna 128R weighs only 5 kg.

    For hay making, an apparatus with a capacity of 1.3-1.5 kW is better suited, with a sufficiently large fuel tank equipped with a 4-8 pronged knife or disc. For example, Daewoo Power Products DABC 420.

    For large areas with difficult terrain, it is better to choose a lightweight, ergonomic model with a four-stroke engine (STIHL FS 130).

    In order for the selected gasoline trimmer to last as long as possible, strictly follow the operating instructions, choose only those brands of gasoline and oil that are indicated in the recommendations.
