Marshall Major. Portable audio equipment (headphones, acoustics, radios) - tests

Marshall has long been known to music lovers as a manufacturer primarily of amplifiers and acoustics. But a few years ago we decided to go into headphones, and released a rather compact and interesting Marshall major model mostly for portable equipment, since the folding design and small size are suitable for use on the road, and you can find something more convenient for home. Marshall Major II is an updated and slightly improved version of the headphones. Among the innovations, a twisted detachable cable with a microphone, which allows you to use the headphones as a headset, and the cable can be connected to any headphone cup, and slightly modified drivers, as a result of which the frequency range has slightly expanded, and the sound of the updated headphones has become more bass. This model is made to some extent in a retro style, a square shape of the cups with slightly rounded corners, and a wire attachment to the headband. The design is foldable and does not take up much space when carrying, but wearing them around the neck is not very convenient, since you will have to fully extend the cups and “adjust” them on your head every time. The quality of materials in these headphones is decent, both in appearance and in touch. The cups are made of matte velvety plastic, on which no prints remain, and on the outside there are inserts with the manufacturer's logo. The speakers are covered with an interesting material that resembles a "braid". The headband, as well as the ear pads, are covered with very soft eco-leather, which many save on, and this is really great. There are no questions with the assembly either, all the parts are assembled without gaps, and when bending there are no creaks or attempts to figure it out in the hands. The seams on the headband are even. These headphones are from a series of things that are pleasant to take in hand, and it is not a shame to give them away. Sound quality is a very subjective concept, but I think many will like it, dense sound with little emphasis on bass, vocals sound very natural and clean. The high ones are slightly weakened, which I personally like, there are no sibilant ones. The stage is small, but on good recordings everything is distinguishable, the instruments do not mix in a heap. If you start to find fault and look for cons, then perhaps not everyone will be comfortable. Specifically, I was not particularly comfortable, for me they are too small, and there was no uniform pressure to the ears, so it was not possible to achieve acceptable noise isolation. If you are primarily interested in workmanship and design, you can safely take it. The headphones are not even bad, but I would recommend at least a little listening and trying on, if there is such a possibility.

What headphones to choose so as not to regret the money spent.

Why is it so difficult? Yes, because due to the abundance of models, many headphones are similar in size and price. And you have to choose almost at random, not knowing how this or that accessory will behave in the harsh conditions of a Russian city.

For example, Beats EPs are cool and high-profile. Materials, quality, again, all sorts of celebrities flaunt them. And nearby on the shelf are Marshall Major 2, spreading the aura of rock and roll, made in the style of famous guitar amps, and in general, a brand with a long history.

I had to walk alternately in these headphones, comparing the sensations and other factors in everyday use. Read, make your choice and enjoy.

1. Portability

We buy headphones in order to enjoy music in the bustle of the city, on the street. In any weather and time of day. For this headphones should be comfortable for carrying.

In terms of carrying, Marshall Major 2 is more convenient - they fold, unlike the Bits. It is a pity that the set for the "Marshals" does not have any cover - there would be no price for them.

But the Beats EP, although they do not fold, fit in a special bag with a tightening neck, which is included in the kit.

On the one hand, folding cups are more convenient, but on the other hand, the monolithic design of the headphones is also a plus, they are more difficult to bend or break in a backpack.

Opinion: if you are a neat person and do not carry stones in your backpack or bag, in view of its portability, Marshall Major 2 is preferable for you. And if you like to wear headphones around your neck when you take them off your head, then only "Bitsy", they are comfortably worn around the neck, thanks to the shape of the headband.

2. Materials

Different brands - different combinations of metal, leather and other ingredients. In both the Beats and Marshals, plastic is used to a minimum: the headband in both models is steel, only in Marshall Major 2 it is covered with leather.

Beats EP looks less rich and more modern. Polished metal, smooth shapes - it is clear that the manufacturer relies on the young and progressive.

Marshall tries to please people of all ages by combining vinyl in ear cups, gold-colored brass accents, steel mounts and a vintage feel.

The basic trim elements are the same - both models use high-quality leather for the ear cups, soft and odor-free.

Opinion: The Beats EP looks like a 21st century product, while The Marshals are more like a fantasy from the past with a modern twist thanks to the materials used. If you're a progressive person who doesn't like hints of the past, you will definitely love the Beats EP.

3. Convenience

This is one of the most important selection criteria, because what is the use of gorgeous sound if the headphones are too tight, fall off or sit uncomfortably on your head so that you want to take them off as soon as possible?

I wore each pair of test models for several days and found an interesting pattern. Winter is the time of hats and headphones have to be worn over the headgear. So: Marshall Major 2 it is more comfortable to wear over a hat than the Bitsy.

Perhaps it's the size of the head or some other features of my skull, but after 1.5 hours from the Beats EP, a headache starts in the place where the headband is. Moreover, this happens only if you have a hat on. If you wear "Bitsy" without a winter headdress - everything is in order, full of comfort and pleasure.

There is no such problem with Marshall Major 2. I think that the reason for this is the short power reserve of the Beats' cups, if someone has a big head, then in addition, with the Beats EP cap, they will simply be small and will sit on their head, pressing too hard on the crown of the head and causing discomfort after a short time ...

Opinion: If you love hats and wear hats, try on a Beats EP before you buy to see how comfortable you are in them. If you live in warm countries or despise hats, you're in luck, because the Bits, in fact, sit on your head more comfortably and look less massive from the outside than Marshall Major 2.

4. Features

Marshall Major 2 are unconditionally in the lead at this point, thanks to the ability to connect to a sound source via Bluetooth. They have a removable wire - disconnected it, connected it to a smartphone via a "blue tooth", and set off.

Headphones are out of power? Plug in the wire and listen to the music further. Everything is simple and convenient. There is no difference in sound, there are no wires either - nothing rubs under the jacket, does not pull or interfere with taking out the smartphone and waving it in different directions.

In Beats EP, the wire is not removable, there is no wireless connection. But there is another plus: a full-fledged control panel on the headphone wire. Three keys with which you can control your iOS gadget. It is convenient and makes everyday use of the iPhone with headphones a lot easier.

But in this regard, Marshall Major 2 has a short remote control on the wire: it has only one button. With it, you can take a call, end the call and stop or start playing a track. No rewinding, volume control and other cute actions that we are so used to with the native Apple headset.

Opinion: Hate wires? Take Marshall Major 2 and take out your smartphone every time you need to turn up or turn down the sound on the player. Are you used to using a full-fledged remote control on a wire? Take the Beats EP, which are fully compatible with iGadgets and have a three-button remote on the wire.

5. Sound

There should be numbers and other technical characteristics. But who reads them? When was the last time you compared the numbers and specifications of the headphones? That's it. I'd better write about the feelings, and then you yourself will listen to both models in the nearest store and compare your feelings with mine :)

So the Beats EPs are listening just fine. Perhaps I will upset some spiteful critics, but the fact remains that the days when people bought Beats because of the brand, turning a blind eye to a rather mediocre sound, are gone.

For a few years now, Beats headphones have been sounding great, with bouncy bass and detailed mids. The tops are not very sonorous, but this does not cause inconvenience when listening to dance genres, all kinds of lounge, techno, rap, disco and even classics.

Marshall Major 2 has a built-in equalizer set to rock by default. This is the only way I can explain the fact that absolutely all rock genres are listened to in these headphones just fine.

Although the lows are not as pronounced as in the "Beats", the mid and high frequencies are simply crystal clear and reveal compositions with guitars and live performances.

Every cymbal rustle, every note is heard beautifully and this Marshall Major 2 undoubtedly captivates. It is worth listening to any composition of ZZ Top through them and agree with me.

Opinion: If you listen to rock in any form (including Sting, yeah), then you need Marshall Major 2. You won't be disappointed, that's for sure. For everything else, there are Beats EPs, which give you the feeling of being in the club with a tight sound and deep bass.

6. Conclusion

You may know Marshall for their guitar amps, which are often used by rock stars and hobbyists alike. However, the company's activities on amplifiers are not limited. Over the past few years, Marshall has released several lines of headphones, two Bluetooth speakers and even a smartphone. Marshall headphones are clearly positioned by the manufacturer as fashionable stylish solutions aimed at the general public, and not as headphones for audiophiles. The price, as it were, also hints, not a single audiophile will look in the direction of headphones cheaper than $ 700, and Marshall headphones cost $ 80-100 (and they are also wireless). The latest product of the company was the Marshall Major II Bluetooth headphones. They are also Marshall's first wireless headphones. And they continue this trend by focusing on fashion and simplicity rather than pristine sound quality and great build.
Plus, these headphones are actually a response to the current trends of rejection of wires in the world of smartphones. First of all, of course, I mean Apple products. The Bluetooth version almost completely repeats the neat design of its predecessor, adding textured earbuds to the wired brother, a virtually indestructible headband, intuitive controls, easy wireless connection and a decent battery life of several days. The arrival of this product is a brilliant move for a company that already actively manufactures Bluetooth speakers. And although Marshall Major II Bluetooth is not without its drawbacks, they still pose serious competition to other manufacturers. On the other hand, the Marshall Major II Bluetooth is just a wireless version of the Major II ... which might disappoint fans looking for better sound and quality than the original. In terms of money, the difference between the wired and wireless versions of Marshall Major II is about 2000-2500 rubles, which, in my experience, is not too big (for this category of headphones) to deprive yourself of a wireless connection. At first glance, Marshall Major II Bluetooth is an undeniably attractive product with its perky, bass-leaning sound and retro style. But their plastic construction and poor sound quality leave competitors the option to beat them. First of all, these are the cheaper T450BT, Pioneer SE-MJ553BT, Pioneer SE-MJ561BT, MDR-ZX330BT, Philips SHB3080 (thousands of them, I brought the most popular models) and slightly more expensive Harman / Kardon Soho Wireless. Although in my opinion, Harman / Kardon in the face of these headphones is so-so competitor and of course stronger competitors are JBL and Pioneer. However, if you are for retro style (and for style in general), then Marshall Major II Bluetooth is the coolest in this regard. Perhaps the Harman / Kardon Soho Wireless are comparable in terms of style, but it's not exactly retro (build and materials are really better).

Marshall Major II Bluetooth price, where is cheaper to buy

The MSRP for Marshall Major II Bluetooth in the US is $ 86, or about 5,200 rubles. The wired version costs $ 57 (3,500 rubles). At this cost, they can be ordered on Amazon. Plus shipping, so the total cost of Marshall Major II Bluetooth on Amazon will be in the range of 6,500 - 7,000 rubles. Except on Amazon, I would not recommend ordering somewhere else (well, this is my personal opinion). If you don't want to mess with Amazons and other ebays, then you can safely buy Marshall Major II Bluetooth in Russia. Then the cost will already be in the region of 7,000 - 8,000 rubles. The difference is almost invisible compared to the same Amazon. There are, of course, especially cunning online stores that try to drive them out for 9,000 or even 11. In general, in Russia the red price is 8,000 rubles.

Appearance and control features

Fans of the original Major II will certainly love the Bluetooth version as Marshall wisely kept all of his key design cues in place. The famous logo in white on the side of the ears, in gold on the inside of the headband and on the ends of the cable (for when you need to wire up). A familiar texture, applied to match headphones with Marshall's famous acoustic cabinets.

In terms of design, the earbuds have a telescopic headband with up-and-down speakers and loops that allow the earbuds to fold down for more compact storage. Of course, with the addition of Bluetooth, there is a large set of built-in controls. At the bottom of the right speaker is a Micro-USB port for charging, a 3.5mm cable input, and a power / connect key that you need to hold to turn the headphones on or off, or double-click to connect via Bluetooth. In the lower corner of the left speaker is a new control - a golden "button" that I really liked. It may be difficult to find it by touch at first when wearing the headphones on your head. But after you get used to it, you will appreciate all the convenience that this control gives. In addition to the fact that you can simply press it to answer calls and stop / start music, it is responsible for adjusting the volume, moving up and down, and for skipping / selecting a track, moving right / left. This is a very convenient and effective control that gives you complete control over your headphones.
Under the soft cushion of each speaker is a sheathed 40mm driver, with a declared frequency response of 10 Hz - 20 kHz. Visually, they are exactly the same as the original Major II, but they hide additional details.
The gold-colored universal button is a very convenient solution for complete and convenient headphone control.
Although the Bluetooth connection is a bit "noisy", it provides a very stable connection. The signal remained stable even through walls (albeit office ones). During all testing, I walked around the office within a radius of 10-12 meters from the source. Using aptX improves sound quality, especially when listening to high quality tracks, and minimizes sync problems. Perhaps the most impressive thing about these earbuds, however, is the 30 hour battery life, which makes these earbuds stand out from the rest of the competition in their price range.

Convenience and comfort

Comfort was a key benefit of the original Marshall Major II, and nothing has changed in this regard in the Bluetooth version either. The soft cushions provide great support and hold, and there is a little more padding in the headband itself. These headphones can be worn all day long without any discomfort.

Sound quality, listening

As you might expect, Major II Bluetooth produces a sound that is very similar to its wired version. The same moderately warm and soft sound, with a sharp bias in the mids, deep and powerful bass, and normal sound detail. All this allows you to get really impressive sound in some cases. Like its predecessor, these headphones are losing ground when it comes to higher frequencies. This is especially noticeable on voiced instruments, which actually cease to be voiced. In particular, cymbals sound like something completely indistinct. At the same time, I have one observation on this matter. While more sophisticated listeners may seriously complain about this disadvantage, for less sophisticated general listeners (most of them), this feature can provide more comfort, smoothing out the sometimes unpleasant "pressure" on the ears of ringing sounds in especially dynamic tracks. The only problem I noticed with Major II Bluetooth compared to the original wired version that I noticed when transmitting audio wirelessly, you can notice a slight hiss in the middle bass range. This is most likely due to the built-in amplifier, and other wireless headphones have had the same problem, such as the M100 from V-Moda and the Momentum Wireless from Sennheiser. The enhanced bass of Major II Bluetooth is especially noticeable in tracks with thick bass (actually nothing surprising) or dense drum parts. This feature positively distinguishes these instruments, gives them more space, though sometimes at the expense of other instruments (especially noticeable on the guitar parts) and vocals. On most songs this is not very noticeable - there is a slightly tighter bass than usual. However, on a number of songs this denser bass becomes irrelevant and annoying with its "sonic priority" over other frequencies. Nevertheless, this feature of the headphones' sound (I'm talking about the priority of bass over the rest of the frequencies) is more of a niggle than a real problem, especially considering the price category of these headphones. What's more, most Beats owners and listeners get a bassier sound than the headphones we review today. And some big bass lovers can even boost the bass on the Marshall Major II Bluetooth.

Conclusion

The Marshall Major II Bluetooth headphones continue the tradition of their predecessor. They have a classic rock style, give out a warm sound coupled with a reliable wireless connection, a design that is comfortable for prolonged wear and at the same time does not hit the pocket too much. The bass sometimes seemed too pronounced for me. But in general, the sound quality, which is not bad for Bluetooth headphones, excellent battery life (for several days), and adequate price make these headphones an excellent product that can successfully compete in the highly competitive market of wireless headphones today.

Marshall Major II Bluetooth reviews

Despite the fact that Major II Bluetooth is specifically designed for wireless music listening, I expectedly found that the sound over the wire was slightly better. This is because the Bluetooth connection produces hiss, which can be noticed when listening to quiet tracks. If this is essential for you and you do not need Bluetooth, then, of course, the original corded Marshall Major II will be the best and cheaper option for you. The Bluetooth version of the Marshall Major II offers excellent mobility and autonomy, and is perfect for those looking for long-lasting, comfortable headphones that can be carried anywhere. Plus they are stylish too. Their sound will appeal to those who like juicy bass. Everyone else may not understand them. But, if you mainly listen to rap, hip-hop and electronic music, then you will be very happy with Marshall Major II Bluetooth.

Marshall Major II Bluetooth comparison with Beats Solo 2/3 Wireless

I was already finishing my review and realized that in fact the main competitor of these headphones is the Beats Solo 2 Wireless (or Solo 3, since in fact they are the same headphones). I would even say on the contrary that Marshall Major II Bluetooth are the main competitors of the Beats. Marshall Major II Bluetooth is ideal for those who want to get rich bass out of wireless headphones, but don't like the screaming design of the Beats Solo Wireless. In my opinion, Major II looks much more stylish. Plus they are cheaper. To make it clear why I believe that Marshall Major II Bluetooth is better than the Beats Solo 2/3 Wireless, I will give a consistent argument:
  1. They are noticeably cheaper than Beats, the average price is 7,600 against 14,000 rubles;
  2. They are more comfortable to wear... There is no pressure on the head like the Beats. On the other hand, there is no such strong hold that will be important for athletes. However, the fixation of Marshall Major II Bluetooth on the head is generally reliable;
  3. Sound quality is comparable... Probably Beats Solo 2/3 Wireless give out sound a little better and the bass is juicier. But the difference in sound quality is so small that you hardly notice it. The only real difference is the bass, the difference is that the Marshall Major II Bluetooth is powerful, while the Beats Solo Wireless is monstrously powerful;
  4. They are stylish... For my taste, they look more stylish than the flashy youthful Beats.
  5. Longer battery life... After our testing of the Beats Solo 2 Wireless, we were very impressed with its nearly 20 hours of battery life. So Marshall Major II Bluetooth can work for 30 hours.
In general, if you don't want wild bass, you are not a Beats fan or a crossfitter, then Major II Bluetooth is a better option than the Beats Solo Wireless (any reincarnation is 1/2/3).

Pros of Marshall Major II Bluetooth

  • Decent and detailed sound for the price
  • Reliable and long-range wireless connection
  • Intuitive controls
  • Stylish, user-friendly design
  • Excellent battery life

Cons of Marshall Major II Bluetooth

  • Strong mid-bass sometimes gets in the way
  • Bluetooth connection makes a little noise

For many, Marshall is associated with concert amplifiers, which are preferred by many famous musicians. "Marshal" began to release headphones quite recently, presenting at once two interesting models, which have already been appreciated by music lovers around the world.

A little about the company

The Marshall company dates back to 1962. Founded by Jim Marshall in the UK. Initially, it produced products similar to other brands. She began to gain popularity, adding originality to her technique. It is especially popular with guitarists who prefer a heavy sound. The first "Marshal" (headphones) appeared in 2014, when the management decided to master the headset market. In 2015, the firm surprised the public by releasing a smartphone.

"Marshal": headphones and headset

Of course, everyone expected high-quality and stylish headphones from such a well-known company that produces equipment for musicians.

We can say that the company "Marshal" made headphones no worse than amplifiers. The models are delivered in similar boxes in the original laconic style. It's hard to find fault with the quality of the materials, and the assembly too. The cost of the headphones is quite reasonable considering the prices of other branded models.

Marshall major

Standard Major ", made in a classic style, got a good sound that will appeal to fans of different genres of music.

The design is very minimalistic and old-school. The body is made of high quality plastic, ear pads are made of leather. A twisted cord is used for connection, which looks good and is durable in operation. Standard connectors are gold plated. On the outside of the "burdocks" there is a company logo, which does not allow them to be confused with another company. In general, at first glance, it seems that the headphones hit the counter straight from the end of the last century.

However, earphones stand out not only for their attractive appearance. The manufacturer also took a no less responsible approach to ensuring user comfort. Headphones "Marshal Major" received a special frame that allows them to be folded. In this form, they are smaller and more transportable.

The headphones are based on an electrodynamic emitter. The model can play music in the frequency range: 20-20000 Hz. The power is 20 mW. Connect to iPhone without any problems.

The "Marshal" headphones were not spared by user reviews. Most owners liked the model, there are minor flaws that do not seem fatal.

Marshall Major II

At first glance, there is a feeling that these are all the same original "Marshals". However, the somewhat inflated price begins to embarrass. Everything is explained with a closer look at the main features.

For the manufacture of the case, all the same high-quality materials are used. The ear cushions are made of soft leather that will not burst over time. The frame is moderately rigid - the headphones do not press on the head, but they also do not fly off. There is also the possibility of folding the structure, which is an indisputable advantage of any on-ear headphones.

The same twisted cable is used for connection, but without gold-plated connectors. However, it can now be turned off. This was a huge plus for the updated model. There are times when the wire breaks, and it is very difficult to replace it. Now this problem is solved very simply - we buy a new one and insert it into the port.

It is based on a similar electrodynamic emitter. But now the range is 10-20,000 Hz. The high frequencies are the same as in the original model, but the low frequencies are now lower (in the first "Majors" - 20). Fans of good, deep bass will definitely be satisfied. The resistance has also changed upwards - 64 MP. Now, with some cheap smartphones, the earbuds refuse to work. However, there are no problems with more expensive ones.

Marshall Major II Bluetooth

The company could not help but release Marshal Minor headphones with wireless connectivity. The development team did not come up with something new, refining the existing model.

These are all the same "Majors" 2 with high-quality sound and unsurpassed style. Made with plastic, metal and leather. They fit perfectly on any head. The same cable that can be easily disconnected. The ability to fold the headphones into a more transportable shape has not gone anywhere either.

Electrodynamic emitters are installed inside, which provide sound output in the frequency range: 10-20000 Hz. Sound quality at a high level, suitable for any genre of music. The volumetric bass will pleasantly surprise you.

The main innovation was the emergence of Bluetooth. The interface provides a wireless connection to any device that supports it. There are several profiles for a comfortable user experience. A microphone is preinstalled, which turns the model into a headset. The model has got a fairly capacious 680 mAh battery. The battery is capable of providing up to 30 hours of continuous talk time. Charges no more than 2 hours. A small indicator informs about a low charge level. The connection is maintained within a radius of 10 meters.

Marshall Mode EQ

So far, only the popular ones have been considered, however there are many fans of "plugs". "Marshal" did not leave this type of music lovers without quality models.

Marshall Mode EQ is an update to the original version. The developers have eliminated the flaws of the original and added new "chips". Headphones are made in the form typical for "plugs". The standard connection cable is made in a symmetrical type. The connector is gold-plated and L-shaped. Covered with rubber that does not break or wear off.

Inside the ear cushions there is an electrodynamic emitter capable of producing sound in the frequency range: 20-20000 Hz. The figure is pretty good for vacuum headphones. Received a closed form, which provides excellent sound insulation. You do not hear those around you, and they do not know about your musical preferences.

The main innovation of the EQ model is the equalizer, which can be switched at the push of a button. There are two modes - soft and powerful. The second mode features deeper bass. Equalizer is not often found in "plugs", which attracts users. The only drawback is the overpriced cost, which exceeds 4000 rubles.

The Marshall Major headphones are a fairly popular model and have been chosen by many for their attractive design, sound and price. The updated version received some changes and, alas, now costs much more ...

Design, construction

Immediately, please, if you already have a Marshall Major, write in the comments how satisfied you are with these headphones and whether you are going to change to the second model. Now let's get down to business. A few years ago, the Marshall Major headphones appeared on the market, a rather compact overhead model for use with smartphones and other portable equipment. The novelty stood out for its interesting design, repeating the "adult" technology of the company, the headphones were comfortable to wear, and the price played a role, for more than three thousand rubles the user received a good gadget in a beautiful package. Some of our editors went and are going with the Marshall Major, many of my acquaintances bought headphones at random, on a whim, and were satisfied. I want to remind everyone that tables and graphs are all great, but when making a final decision, emotion in the store is more important. A person comes for one thing, sees something else and completely changes his mind. Many of my colleagues complain on Facebook or social networks, they say, a person comes, asks questions about technology, asks for help, you help, and then bam, and this person, a faithful reader, bought something completely different. Time wasted, words are written, zero sense. It seems to have convinced, but then Her Majesty EMOTIONAL SHOPPING comes into play. And at least a stake on your head amuse.

The second version of the popular model is available in three colors: besides black, there are white and brown.

They look beautiful, but keep in mind that this is eco-leather and in life everything will be a little different than in the pictures. That is, the smell is not like the skin, and the feeling is not like the skin. On the inside of the headband - the name of the company, the cups are small, the wire goes into the plastic parts on the headband. The ear cups can be folded down, and then the Major can be stowed away in a jacket pocket.

One of the features of the novelty is a removable audio cable, the box says how to use the remote control. The instruction on the packaging is a new trend, and the trend is important, there are no unnecessary pieces of paper, and this is good. The button on the remote control allows you to fully control playback, rewind tracks. The good thing about the detachable cable is that it can always be replaced. Pay attention to how well it is made, here there is a spring to make the braid less bend, and a grooved frame. Nicely done, and the earbuds don't feel like an inexpensive model at all. The left and right ear cups are marked on the inside of the headband, the cable connecting the ear cups is visible, you can accidentally pull it out, and this is not very good.

On the front of the cups there are the usual vinyl inserts with the company logo, around - velvety plastic (prints are not particularly visible), the very shape of the cups is unusual, it is a square instead of a circle or an oval. The headphones sit well, but due to the shape, the front of the cup is pressed as if a little harder. The flat and wide headband fits well on the head; people with any head size will be able to wear headphones thanks to the large extension of the guides (remember, here it is a thick wire).

The loudspeakers are covered by the "braid" familiar from the first model, it has not changed at all. By the way, here is a review of the first Major, this model is still sold in some places.

Wearing headphones around your neck is problematic, you have to pull the cups out to the end so as not to choke them, and then adjust them to be worn on your head again.

Music

The site even has a graph, here, especially for those who do not have enough graphs. Glad to help you.

The headphones use 40mm drivers, here are the other specifications.

  • Impedance: 85Ω
  • Sensitivity: 96db
  • Max Input Power: 50mW

There is no adapter for a regular jack in the kit, apparently, use with serious equipment is not implied. And in the first model he was. Probably, it became clear that Major is being bought to listen to from iPhone and Galaxy, so there is no need to invent anything.

Soundproofing is better, if you turn on three-quarters of the volume in the iPhone 6 Plus, ambient sounds disappear, although the noise of cars outside the window is still slightly audible in the pauses. In general, in comparison with the first model, the noise insulation has not become much better.

The sound quality has also changed little. There is no need to wait for miracles, no matter what they say about specially made speakers, but this is a model of 99 euros or 99 dollars in the United States, our price is about 7,000 rubles - with a change in exchange rate, a budget model once literally flew into space.

There is a difference in sound, the second generation model sounds better. Now the model copes better with complex tracks, although you can still find fault with the detail. There is no emphasis on low or high, the middle part disappears a little. When several instruments or effects come into play at once, Major II is lost. The vocals are good, with natural notes - but the more complex the track, the easier it will be for the headphones to present it to you. The model is versatile enough for any music, and it can be recommended to those who are looking primarily for an unusual design and are not too confused about sound quality.

Since Marshall Major II, I've listened most of all to The Chemical Brothers' new album, called Born in the Echoes, available on iTunes. A friend says that it’s not the same, the old men are caked. But! Of course, there are no such things here.

Or like that.

Or even these. Everyone remembers Block Rockin Beats. Surely many of you now play this track in the car, in training or in other circumstances. The iconic composition appeared in 1997.

Well, I can also remember Hold Tight London, a not-so-famous track, but loved by many.

Probably not a single track from the new album will become so famous.

Members of The Chemical Brothers are great, if only because they continue to do what they love. And the album turned out to be fighting. There are a little strange things there, like Taste of Honey, but there is also I`ll see you there - it would be quite suitable as a soundtrack for "Lock, Stock, Two Barrels" or Snatch (here, by the way, Major II surrenders here and there and do not pull out).

conclusions

Headphones now cost about 7,000 rubles, for this money the choice of models is very, very large, and there are devices that are much more interesting than Marshall, both in design and in sound. Let me remind you about the Sennheiser Momentum On-Ear, the price is about 6,500 rubles, there is also Harman / Kardon Solo and Harman / Kardon CL, Bose SoundTrue On or Over-Ear - and this is far from the end.

It seems to me that the Major's supplier should have explained the difficult situation in the market to the manufacturing company. Now the price of 7,100 rubles for Major II is simply inadequate, there are models from more famous companies with better sound. What does the updated Major have to offer? Detachable cable? It seems to me that this is not serious. Headphones are not worth their money.

But if you come across the first model for 4,000 - 4,500 rubles, you can safely take it.

The bottom line is an interesting model from a design point of view with good sound. If you like these particular headphones, you can buy. Just listen first and twirl it in your hands.
