But given that it is quite deep and rich, be careful with its use. Here you should adhere to the same rules as in the children's room and hallway - arrange everything rationally, with a sense of proportion.

A large amount of burgundy can turn a room into an overly conservative, strict and intimate space. And this is the last thing I would like. Say NO! maximalism.

Let the burgundy color be present in the bedroom unobtrusively: curtains and bedspreads made in the rich color of ripe cherry are quite enough for the rest room.

This interior design option will be ideal for fairly large bathtubs, but if you have a small bathroom, it is better not to use burgundy color. Bordeaux visually narrows small rooms.

If the scales of your desires tip towards burgundy tiles, remember that they will only look good if they are partially used in the bathroom. A contrasting duet of burgundy and white is a super-ideal option.

Burgundy color is a beautiful, rich combination of red and brown. Today it is one of the most popular and is often called “Marsala”, “Bordeaux”, “Burgundy”, so it is used not only in the creation of fashionable and stylish clothes, but also in interior design.

The burgundy color is characterized by a rich and luxurious look, so it is perfect for those who prefer expensive and high-quality things.

A room using these colors has all the qualities of red, but looks somewhat muted, and therefore does not have a negative effect on the human nervous system.

The burgundy color gives the room a festive feel, adds solidity and luxury.

However, in addition to such significant advantages, this color also has disadvantages. It must be used with caution and the right shades must be found that will go well with it.

Burgundy color is too versatile, and therefore requires proper coordination of the entire palette of the room. For this reason, you should study the photo and figure out what you can expect from using burgundy color in the interior and what color combinations should be avoided.

Depending on your preferences and goals, you can choose the best options.

Features of burgundy

Burgundy itself is a warm shade, so the ideal and win-win option is to combine it with cream, light gray and beige.

Advice! You should give preference to such options if you are not sure that you want to see other, more saturated colors.

For those who want to add a touch of luxury, it is better to combine burgundy not only with neutral beige shades, but also with gold and metallic silver elements.

Black combined with burgundy will help you create a business style. Of course, for such a combination, the homeowner needs to have some courage, since in this case it is necessary not to overdo it and create an interior in which the room will have a solid, but not gloomy appearance.

Keep in mind that the black and burgundy option is not suitable for every room. For a relaxation room, it is better to give preference to light colors and use shades of red only to divide the room into zones.

Burgundy can be combined with dark green and olive. However, this combination can be tiring, so it is better to use it in those rooms in which a person spends little time, that is, in the toilet and bathroom.

The main condition that must be observed when using burgundy color is measured use, with a sense of faith. You can select it for all rooms, but use it with special care in the nursery and hallway.

You can not only paint the walls in this shade, but also purchase various interior elements, for example, poufs, a sofa. Be careful: Excessive consumption of burgundy color can destabilize the emotional state. In order for the psychological state to be stable, burgundy should be combined with calmer colors.

How to use burgundy in different rooms

Hallway

First of all, when a person enters home, he finds himself in the hallway. An unobtrusive solution would be to purchase a burgundy-colored pouf or a small rug. Basically, the layouts do not provide for a window in this part of the apartment. Therefore, it is better not to paint the walls burgundy, so as not to create a feeling of oppressive atmosphere in the cramped space of the hallway and corridor.

Living room

This room is a room where you can relax and receive your guests. The hall or living room can be made colorful and bright, which will cause admiration, and burgundy color in the interior of the living room will be very useful.

Burgundy curtains in the interior photo

You can use both certain elements in this shade and decorate walls with it. To ensure that the space is not too dark, you should give preference to decorating only one wall with burgundy and maintaining this color with small decorative elements or certain large objects.

Burgundy curtains will look great in the interior; a fluffy carpet in this shade will also highlight the owners’ sense of taste. In any case, such a color accent will attract attention and make the room design stylish, so a living room interior in burgundy is a good solution for a modern, colorful design.

Advice! A burgundy sofa or armchairs will add special luxury to the interior. In this case, the pillows on the furniture should be of an opposite, but compatible color from a light palette.

Children's room

As mentioned above, using burgundy color in the interior of a children's room, even with a combination of a lighter palette, is undesirable if you are not sure that you will not overdo it.

When the desire is great, you can use stains in burgundy color, then the interior will not seem gloomy, and the combination of different colors will look more bright and unusual.

It is worth paying attention to the purchase of the following children's interior items in a dark red shade: table lamp, armchairs, poufs, beanbags.

It is not worth making burgundy walls in the interior of this room, as this can depress the child’s psyche. It is best to choose beige, milky, or ivory if you intend to combine them in the future with other burgundy elements.

Bordeaux in the bedroom

As you know, the bedroom is a relaxation room for the owners. Here you can relax both soul and body, so everything should contribute to this. You should also select paints for interior decoration in this room with care, as in the nursery.

Burgundy color in the bedroom will look acceptable if used in separate elements. Burgundy furniture should be limited only to the head of the bed. You can add burgundy by purchasing a bedspread in the recommended color. As for the material, to maintain the pomp of the interior in textiles, it is better to give preference to silk with gold embroidery.

Kitchen room decoration

A kitchen in burgundy color looks very luxurious. Considering that most housewives spend a long time here, this color will be conducive to creating real culinary masterpieces and royal dishes.

For this room, you can safely purchase the entire furniture set in these colors: they will be more appropriate here than ever. In addition, you can use different combinations of colors with burgundy. You can use both dark and light colors: it all depends on what you like best.

Burgundy kitchen in the interior photo

Remember! If the kitchen is not very large, it is better to give preference to a combination of burgundy with light shades, as otherwise the room may become too dark and depressing.

The width of the windows should also be taken into account. If natural light regularly enters the kitchen, you can safely combine burgundy with black or brown. Such a kitchen will look pompous and luxurious.

Bathroom

Burgundy color in the bathroom interior, photo

In the bathroom you can combine burgundy with other colors. The priority is a combination of snow-white and milky with a dark red or beetroot shade.

Considering that each person is not in this room as often as, for example, in the bedroom, you can use this color duet of burgundy and white when laying tiles.

You can look at different patterns and dilute the dark color with a sandy, mint shade. If you only want to add burgundy accessories to the design, you should purchase a burgundy rug, towels and curtains, and leave everything else in neutral white.

Burgundy compositions in the interior

A universal option is a combination of burgundy and gray. It looks great when creating strict decors.

The following composition is also popular: expensive furniture, elaborate decorative items and antiques. If these items are present in the room, you can safely add burgundy paints. It is advisable to combine burgundy exclusively with brown.

Despite the fact that the use of burgundy in the interior is luxury on the verge of foul, it introduces notes of wealth and elegance. It is no wonder that many people love this shade as it is the epitome of elegance and splendor.

Remember: Burgundy must be used and combined with other colors very carefully, then the result will be exactly as you expect.

If you cannot do it yourself, it is better to turn to professional designers who can combine different colors in the design of the room, which will make the interior flawless.

Burgundy wallpaper will make the interior sophisticated and luxurious. The burgundy color is strong and solid, with a hint of mystery, it combines red and black shades. The interior can look incredibly stylish or distinctly aristocratic.

Design features

Any finishing requires a competent approach. When choosing a burgundy tone for wallpaper, it is worth considering some features of the room for which it is intended.

  • Burgundy wallpaper should be used to decorate bright rooms, to avoid the feeling of a closed space.
  • Drawings and patterns on the wallpaper will help make the burgundy color a little lighter.
  • In a small room, burgundy wallpaper is best used to decorate individual areas.
  • The contrasting white ceiling compensates for the lack of light.

What types are there?

A variety of materials makes it possible to finish in accordance with the chosen style.

Non-woven

Durable material is divided into two groups: wallpaper made entirely of non-woven material or a covering with a non-woven base. Those that are made entirely of non-woven fabric are used for further painting; such coatings have a textured surface. Wallpaper with a non-woven base is covered with an outer layer, most often vinyl or acrylic.

The photo shows a bedroom design with non-woven leather-look wallpaper.

Vinyl

They are made using different technologies, which explains the variety of textures. There are four types of vinyl wallpaper: thick, foam, smooth and silk-screened. Each of them has different characteristics and appearance.

Paper

Material with a low price and a wide variety of colors. Paper wallpaper allows air to pass through well, but also absorbs odors well. Their service life is not durable, but the coating is durable. In addition, paper sheets quickly lose their brightness in the sun and are practically impossible to clean when contaminated of various kinds.

Liquid

Essentially this is decorative plaster for interior decoration. Liquid wallpaper is sold in the form of a dry mixture and is diluted in the required proportion with water or glue immediately before application to the surface. The composition must be applied in one go to avoid overlapping layers. The main distinguishing feature is the seamless application on the wall.

Photo wallpaper

Photo printing is applied to various types of coatings. Wallpaper can be paper, non-woven, laminated or vinyl. The image can be of any complexity, based on the buyer's preferences.

Textile

They are made from different fibers, such as neck, linen, velor and others. The surface is beautiful, especially in burgundy color, all the charm of the textile fabric will be noticeable, but the fabric attracts dust well, which will require more attention to cleaning. Textile wallpaper has a high cost, but this is compensated by its appearance, increased heat and sound insulation.

Design options and drawings

It would seem that little things like drawing create the style of a home. Burgundy color by its nature is quite dark and rich, drawings and patterns can change the picture and make the design lighter and more interesting.

Plain

Plain burgundy wallpaper can be combined with other colors, thereby highlighting certain areas. As a rule, these are light shades.

Choosing plain wallpaper main the emphasis will be on color.

Geometric pattern

Geometric patterns are suitable for decorating the walls of a modern room; the design can be Scandinavian, hi-tech, minimalism, modern and others. For classics, the exception is straight stripes; they fit perfectly into an aristocratic interior.

With flowers

Flowers against the background of a burgundy canvas will be especially luxurious, for example large roses or peonies with splashes of gold. It is worth remembering that volumetric images and dark colors visually bring the wall closer and make the room smaller. A small flower against the general background will take up less space.

In the photo, the walls in the bathroom are decorated with wallpaper with a floral pattern.

Rear photo wallpaper

A more creative approach to interior design. A 3D drawing will “give” the room additional volume due to 3D printing. The applied image can be realistic and convey the smallest details, or avant-garde and represent a unique work of art.

With golden designs

Gold with a dark wine tint is certainly associated with luxury and charm. This combination will look especially beautiful on silk-screened fabric and vinyl wallpaper. The most suitable room for such a design would be a bedroom or living room.

With monograms

Monograms can become part of a classic living room or bedroom. The combination of burgundy color and ornate patterns creates an aristocratic atmosphere and will look better in spacious rooms.

How to combine with other colors?

An illiterate combination of colors can ruin the entire picture of the interior. The shades should be in harmony and create a single “duet”.

With gold

As already described above, the noble burgundy color goes perfectly with gold. The combination is royal, rich, suitable for a spacious room.

On the picture

With beige

A warm palette will not be as provocative as a combination with gold. The beige tone will lighten the dark burgundy color a little.

The photo shows a combination of beige and burgundy colors on the walls in the living room.

With gray

Stylish combination. The burgundy color in this case will become a bright accent on a gray background. The combination is suitable for design with a modern direction.

With black

Both shades are dark, the combination will turn out to be gothic. The combination is best used in a room with large windows and abundant daylight.

With blue

Dark shades can be “diluted” with a lighter tone, for example, in wallpaper or textile design. A rich combination can be used for partial finishing, for example a niche in the wall.

With yellow

A truly warm autumn combination, a good option for a “northern” room. In the morning and evening light, the room will be enveloped in an incredible atmosphere.

The photo shows a combined burgundy and yellow wallpaper.

With pink

Pink color will add tenderness to the burgundy tone. The combination can be in the form of drawings, wallpaper companions or a spectacular amber.

Options for combining with other finishing materials

Combination with other materials provides more opportunities to create a unique design.

Popular today use of wallpaper companions and natural materials when decorating the interior.

Tree

Dark red wallpaper will be an excellent companion for natural wood; the natural grain of the wood and its texture will look harmonious with the rich color of the wallpaper. If you need to make the room brighter, then you can use wood painted in a light tone, but if you want to emphasize all the luxury of the materials, then it is enough to polish and varnish the surface.

Stone

Considering the high cost of natural stone, an analogue can be artificial materials that convey all the beauty of the wild material. The combination will be successful in the hallway or living room, and will also emphasize the atmosphere of a country house.

Brick

Brickwork can blend in with the color of the wallpaper or stand out in a contrasting color. It completely depends on the style of the room and its lighting. Large windows and plenty of light allow you to use red brick without worrying about space. Painted light brick, on the contrary, will brighten the room.

Shades of burgundy in the interior

Burgundy color does not have a light palette; all shades are juicy, thick and rich.

Maroon

The darkest shade in the palette. It has notes of chocolate color. Visually, the shade can be compared to ripe cherries.

Marsala

The shade contains notes of purple, similar to the color of young wine. Pairs well with pure white tone.

Pomegranate

The color of garnet seeds is bright and juicy, the lightest of the burgundy palette. One of the best combinations with cool gray color.

Cherry

The color of ripe berries, a fusion of red and brown. A good choice for kitchen decoration.

Wine

Very beautiful and rich tone, the color of aged wine. This shade will become the main decoration of the house. The depth of color is emphasized by fabric wallpaper.

Ideas in different styles

The interior style is influenced not only by the color of the wallpaper, but also by the pattern and texture of the surface.

Classic

A dark burgundy tone combined with ornate floral patterns or straight horizontal stripes is suitable for a classic design. The combination with natural wood and plaster will look harmonious.

The photo shows a classic-style bedroom with burgundy wallpaper on the walls.

Country

In a rural country style, burgundy wallpaper with a checkered pattern or a small floral pattern will look good. The design will be complemented by natural wood furniture, wall decor, decorative pillows and bedspreads.

In the photo, the wall in the kitchen is decorated with paper wallpaper with a pattern.

Oriental

For a mysterious oriental style, burgundy wallpaper in a beautiful wine shade will be an excellent solution. Gold objects and designs of unusual shapes, and a combination with dark colors, such as vegne or black furniture, would be appropriate.

Modern

Modern design allows itself the use of bright colors, large and unusual patterns and various textures. Matte burgundy wallpaper in combination with black furniture or a large stereoscopic image on one of the walls of the room will look interesting.

Examples of photos in the interior of rooms

Many factors are taken into account when creating a design. Lighting, general palette, purpose of the room, style. With the correct combination of all criteria, you will get a unique design that will delight the owner every day.

In the bedroom

When the bedroom is completely decorated with burgundy wallpaper, you will get a backstage atmosphere. With the help of curtains and pastel linen, the interior can be slightly modified, for example, making it lighter with light fabrics or brighter and more modern with contrasting shades.

On the picture

In the kitchen

Burgundy wallpaper in the kitchen will be associated with wine or ripe cherries. For a small room, it is better to use a light palette for kitchen furniture; in spacious open rooms, the color of the furniture can be dark.

On the picture

In the hallway and corridor

In a compact hallway, burgundy wallpaper can be combined with light details, such as milky wood panels, light furniture, bright lighting, mirrors. All these details will “expand” the space of the corridor.

In the children's room

Quite a complex color for a child's room. A burgundy tone may be present in drawings or partial design, for example, the main color of the room is cream, and the sleeping and working areas are highlighted in burgundy.

On the picture

In the living room

A living room or hall is the most suitable room for finishing with burgundy wallpaper. The design will convey the style of the room, for example, damask, flowers or monograms on a burgundy background are ideal for a classic room, while geometry, abstraction, and 3D images correspond to more modern styles.

In the office

Burgundy wallpaper will help you get into the working mood. In combination with natural wood and leather furniture you will get a full-fledged office in the English style.

It is important that all interior elements are in harmony with each other, especially if such deep and dark colors are involved in the design. Otherwise, you can end up with a completely tasteless design.

Curtains

Curtains can be a continuation of the walls, combining colors or patterns, or contrast against the background of burgundy wallpaper, thereby visually enlarging the window. This technique will be especially noticeable with white curtains. You can also choose another bright tone for the curtains, which is included in the pattern on the wallpaper or other interior items, for example gold or blue.

Furniture

Burgundy wallpaper is a bold and dark enough shade so that the room does not become gloomy; you can lighten it a little with the help of furniture, for example a white sofa, a light kitchen set or a bed with beige pastel linens or a headboard.

Ceiling

Even in a spacious apartment, beige wallpaper will “eat up” the space. A contrasting white or beige ceiling can compensate for this. Firstly, the room will become lighter, and the charm of the burgundy shade will be noticeable, and secondly, the ceiling will seem higher than it is.

Floor

For burgundy wallpaper, a wooden floor makes an excellent companion; it can be parquet made of natural wood or laminate in a natural natural color. For the bedroom you can choose a light carpet or a beautiful rug, and in the open living room a marble floor will look impressive.

Don’t be afraid to use bright colors; with their help, the interior will acquire unique and unique features and get rid of the banality. Burgundy color is juicy, thick and sensual; its correct use will radically transform the design of your home.

June 26, 2016
You can talk at length about canons in design, but every day the existing canons are becoming less and less stable. Aesthetics and harmony, balance, colors, materials brought together in order to obtain such a long-awaited result are the essence of your knowledge, practice and self-development. My motto is to learn, see, touch something new every day, and I am sure that this is the only way to stay on the right course in “high design.”

Carmine, lingonberry, ripe cherry, Bismarck furioso... Do you think I'm crazy? No, these are just shades of burgundy, rich and bright, muted and deep, fierce and cozy. I couldn’t pass by this color also because it took over everything, becoming the main shade of 2015 according to the Pantone Institute. So, let's figure out what burgundy color goes with in the interior.

Perhaps it’s worth starting with the fact that burgundy is a rather specific color. Being a symbiosis of red and brown, on the one hand it gives comfort, and on the other hand it kindles passion.

Brown, with its inherent monumentality, carries traditionality and confidence, but in large quantities it can provoke fatigue.

Red is life, burning fire, youth and love. It is emotionally strong, stimulates vigorous activity, and excites imagination.

Burgundy conveys to the interior the qualities inherent in red, but does it more softly.

Rooms in burgundy tones look rich and impressive, their atmosphere is filled with luxury and solemnity. The interior is characterized by “maturity”, solidity, and the absence of youthful enthusiasm.

Combine correctly

I consider the main allies of burgundy to be white, beige, cream, milky and light gray.

But these are not all color duets.

  • Golden and burgundy will instantly make the interior bursting with luxury and pomp. This combination requires a lot of space, so it is appropriate in halls and living rooms.

  • The combination with black is more often used for zoning a kitchen-studio, but for children’s rooms I would not recommend such a duo.

  • The combination of gray and burgundy in the interior is considered universal, suitable for any room. Light gray is appropriate in classic decors, suitable for the living room and bedroom.

The photo shows a combination of burgundy textiles and gray wall decoration in a bedroom design

  • The duo of burgundy and brown brings modesty to the fore. Having chosen such a tandem, refuse expensive furniture, pretentious accessories and antiques.

  • It’s hard not to notice the impressiveness of the interior, which combines dark green and burgundy. However, over time, this combination becomes tiring, so use it exclusively for rooms where you do not plan to spend a lot of time, for example, for.

  • The combination of pink and burgundy exudes tenderness and warmth. You can safely decorate a bedroom or children's room in these shades.

  • If you choose eco-style or country style, take a closer look at the tandem of burgundy and orange. Do not be surprised! You can actually get quite an interesting solution from them.

Know your place!

Hallway

She greets us first and forms an impression of the owner. In most typical apartments, hallways and corridors do not have an abundance of natural light and space, so choose a rich burgundy color only for decoration.

This can be a comfortable soft ottoman or a floor mat. For such a small space this will be enough.

Living room

In such a room, burgundy can be given all the reins. If the area of the room is small enough, choose burgundy to decorate the accent wall; both wallpaper and textured plaster will look equally attractive.

Burgundy accessories, such as lampshades, carpeting, bedspreads, window textiles and furniture upholstery, will help bring the interior together.

Children's

The use of burgundy in a nursery is a controversial issue, causing a lot of discussion. I would not recommend painting large areas (walls, ceilings, large furniture) dark; opt for accent use in decor, lighting or textiles.

An excellent alternative for a nursery could be a shade of strawberry jelly, matte and diffused. As a complement, use light green and turquoise.

Burgundy goes well with white in the Provence style. If a little lady agrees to an abundance of ruffles and bows, why not?

Bedroom

Burgundy fills the bedroom with passion. It can be safely used in the design of bed headboards, window textiles, bedspreads and decorative pillows. Oh yes, night lights with burgundy lampshades will look great against pastel walls.

If you plan to combine burgundy with white, use the principle of horizontal division.
In this case, a dark shade is used in the lower part of the room, a light shade in the upper part.

Kitchen

  • When choosing burgundy as the main color, dilute it with milky and beige tones so that its amount does not exceed 50%.
  • You can also play with contrast, for example, by choosing green as a second color.

  • As a complement, use woody shades, creamy and diluted pink.
  • You can add blue to grassy shades. Due to the fact that burgundy contains a little blue, it goes well with blue tones. You can balance the rich duet by using gray, white and black.

Bathroom

Burgundy color in the bathroom requires a careful approach to choosing style and accessories. If you don't plan to limit yourself to a couple of burgundy towels or a rug, choose a classic style that involves the use of natural materials.

Combine burgundy with chrome bathroom fixtures, massive mirror frames, and dark rattan wicker baskets.

Several interesting burgundy projects

And, of course, according to the good old tradition, I offer you several ready-made interior options in which burgundy was chosen as the accent color. Let's get started.

Roman holiday

So, I saw an apartment in a house built in 1930, which looked more like a warehouse of junk and furniture, seasoned with a complete cacophony of styles.

The only thing that gave me hope for a bright future were two huge windows overlooking the old center of Rome.

The main wish of the housewife is a partial unification of the kitchen and living room, which would not expose the kitchen chaos. It was for this purpose that a double-sided bookcase was installed.

For color zoning, a burgundy color was chosen, which very well matches the red suspended ceiling.

The living room has a comfortable sofa and a gigantic wardrobe filled with books and magazines.

The burgundy theme continued in the bedroom; above the bed there was an interesting lingonberry-colored shelf, and on the bed there was a bedspread with an ornament.

The bedroom is separated from the living room by a sliding door, which does not take up extra space when solving the issue of privacy.

A designer table and chair upholstered in painted fabric settled in the hallway.

Fireplace and lingonberry kitchen

Do you think that classical English style and Armenian folklore cannot exist within the same walls? You are wrong! And I will prove it to you now.

The main idea in the design was patchwork, combining textures and colors. The compositional center of the living room is a seven-meter fireplace, which in its entirety evokes the spirit of old England.

The main shades are ocher, scarlet, beech and mahogany, bottle and lingonberry. All this motley color fraternity is united by a floral print.

The decor of the fireplace uses a solar symbol and frieze elements from the Yerevan Opera.
But the tiles themselves were made in Gzhel.

The fireplace tiles are made in two shades - white and milky, due to this the surface does not look flat and shimmers a little.

For the kitchen set, I chose a complex red one, which I found in the catalog of the German factory Rational. Bright pops of color are balanced by light walls. The same combination of bottle green and red is used in the living room.

The suspended structure located above the kitchen island deserves special attention. Thanks to it, the space is balanced and the room does not “creep” upward. The walls are decorated with bright patchwork created from wallpaper with various floral patterns.

The flights of stairs are painted in the same bright color. Thanks to this, it was possible to beat the column, which was comfortably, but completely out of place, located at the entrance.

Summing up

Everything that surrounds us affects our mental state, and burgundy color will be no exception. In our minds does he recreate majestic historical paintings and heavy interiors? Why?

After all, it is considered the color of creative people, a color that awakens imagination. The thing is that this particular shade was most often used in creating castle interiors, hence the association.

By the way, the name of the shade itself was first used in the 18th century and originates from the French “bordeaux”, dark red.

Well, my cranberry-flavored burgundy opus is coming to an end. But before I call it a day, let me ask a question: how do you feel about the burgundy color scheme? Are you ready to let it into your home? Share your thoughts in the comments, but all I can do is offer you a very interesting video in this article.

Burgundy is obtained by mixing red and brown shades, which gave it its own properties. Red brings energy, luxury, and dynamism. From brown - regularity, calmness, maturity. The colors balance each other, the interior in burgundy tones is magnificent and solid.

An important property of burgundy: it brings objects closer, and when there is a lot of it, the room is perceived as more crowded and dark. Therefore, keep it in moderation and combine burgundy with a neutral palette. Any room is suitable for decoration, except for a child’s room: this color has a depressing effect on the child’s psyche.

Traditionally, burgundy was widely used in the decoration of classic, empire, and art deco interiors, where it revealed its depth. Today, this color occupies its rightful place in a laconic urban style, minimalism.

Options for using burgundy in functional areas

  • Living room
A profitable solution is to cover the walls with burgundy wallpaper, and choose textiles and furniture in light shades (beige, milky, cream, gray). This combination neutralizes the desire of burgundy to make the room smaller.
  • Kitchen
Bordeaux is a dark and non-staining color; it is very practical for the kitchen interior. In order not to create an oppressive effect, just accentuate a small room. If the kitchen is more open, you can paint the entire facade with this color. Burgundy is equally appropriate in classic and modern kitchens.
  • Bedroom
In the design of bedrooms, the presence of burgundy relaxes. Accent use is preferable: textiles (curtains, bedspreads, bed linen), chair upholstery, bed headboards, photo frames, floor lamp. Painted dark walls narrow the space.
  • Bathroom
Burgundy makes her interior solemn and elegant. To prevent the room from seeming too dark, install more lamps and mirrors.

Features of drawing up color compositions

Burgundy is a warm palette, so its combinations with red and brown look organic. This solution is suitable for spacious, bright rooms. Neighborhood with cream, gray, beige colors will make the interior elegant.

The presence of burgundy red makes it active in any color combination. It is unlikely that it will be possible to interrupt it and push it into the background, even if the design contains only burgundy accents. But when you want to introduce a second rich color into your design, two techniques will help you avoid conflict:

  • choose a large room with high ceilings;
  • draw a white or light gray stripe between strong colors (our brain will perceive each of them regardless of the influence of the competitor).

Burgundy and white

Next to white, burgundy will take on the color of ripe pomegranate, and the atmosphere will become more optimistic. This is a popular combination, white complements rich burgundy with shine and purity. Usually walls or their individual sections are decorated with burgundy; textiles and upholstered furniture are chosen in the same range. Natural brown and woody shades act as supporting colors, which help get rid of excess pathos.

Burgundy and pink, red

A warm, delicate combination, where muted pink tones dilute the richness of burgundy.

This palette in combination with cream looks nice in the design of bedrooms and bathrooms. You can complement the interior with greenish-yellow motifs, and a composition of dark red and burgundy with soft white shades.

Burgundy and gray

A strict but cozy combination with notes of aristocracy is suitable for decorating any area. In a small living room setting, it is better to give the dominant role to a light gray base.

If you combine a pearl gray shade and several red-brown details, the interior will turn out to be restrained and modest. A rich shade palette of gray and dark burgundy furniture will make it solemn and majestic.

Burgundy and black

An extravagant, strict combination that few people dare to make. Used in the design of a living room, bedroom, hallway or office, it brings an element of luxury and drama. Accessories will help soften the gloomy palette: crystal lamps, gilded mirrors, furniture with silver decor.

Burgundy and green

Effective, but only suitable in moderation so as not to tire you. Interior options: burgundy sofas plus a green armchair, burgundy wall and green sofa. Even if one wall is painted burgundy, this will already reveal the color leader.

Bright greenery will not fit into such a neighborhood; use muted shades - light olive, gray-green, green tea, pistachio, asparagus.

Burgundy color in interior design is a warm, rich atmosphere with an emphasis on respectability. Metallic shades, glossy surfaces, gilding and silver will support the idea of luxury in classic settings. A combination of burgundy with neutral or cool colors will create a laconic design in a modern way.
