Blue color in the interior: combination, choice of style, decoration, furniture, curtains and decor. How to use blue in your interior and get the most out of Interior in blue and red tones

June 7, 2016
You can talk for a long time about canons in design, but every day the existing canons are becoming less stable. Aesthetics and harmony, balance, colors, materials brought together in order to obtain such a long-awaited result are the essence of your knowledge, practice and self-development. My motto is to learn, see, touch something new every day, and I am sure that this is the only way to keep the right course in "high design".

The blue color in the interior is basic and versatile, the latter being explained by the many shades and tones that can create harmonious color duets. Thunderous sky, bottomless lake, sea waves, cornflower-blue field and even jeans loved by many - it's all blue!

Psychological aspect

I’m unlikely to tell you a secret if I say that color affects mental and physical condition. For example, our today's hero is a symbol of pacification, peace and creative energy. Feng Shui defines blue as a feminine principle, calling it the color of care, sensitivity, harmony.

We associate with peace and quiet neutral blue and its warm shades. Duets of blue and black cause a completely different associative array; in this case, thoughts about depths and intrigues arise in our minds.

Let's put in a word about shades

In color, blue is referred to as three main colors, it is he who generates the cold range. Remember the experiments in art lessons, we added red to blue and wondered about purple, mixed with yellow and enjoyed green. The more blue in the duo, the colder the shade.

This raises a very logical question, is it worth using blue in the design of apartments located in cold latitudes? The answer is unequivocal - yes!

Blue, despite all its external coldness, is a rather cozy, deep, rich color. The only thing left is to choose the right shade.

Navy blue

Dark shades are serious, austere and suitable for "adult" interiors. I recommend choosing them for the dining room, living room, bedroom and study. A particularly original duet is obtained from the union of blue and gold, the classic style, art deco, empire and baroque fall under such a color scheme.

The classic is characterized by a combination of blue with calm cream and beige. But for lovers of the East, there are no color restrictions at all, feel free to throw blue, rich crimson, white into the Moroccan cauldron, season everything with ornaments and soft pillows.

Deep blue

I include cobalt, azure and ultramarine in this category. They are quite sharp and active, so they do not cope well with the relaxing role. Appropriate exclusively as an accent, it can be a blue sofa in the interior of the living room, a door or a wall.

Combine pure blue with solid colors, the latter include brown, a shade of natural wood and white. If you are lacking in brightness, look for small accents of green, contrasting yellows and oranges.

Did you notice that I offered you a warm range? It is she who balances the coldness of blue and helps to build harmony in the interior.

Blue-gray, warm shades

I note that blue will never become full-fledged warm, but when mixed with gray, red and green, you get a kind of symbiosis that refers us to natural shades.

Use neutral blue-lilac and gray-blue for the background. They can safely claim the place of the now popular beige. This combination allows you to create a classic Provence.

Blue

Traditionally considered a boyish color, although who came up with that? Any room in your apartment can be blue - kitchen, living room, bedroom, study.

In combination with lace patterns, wood and glass, it becomes indispensable in a shabby chic style that accepts nothing but light cream, beige, blue and pink.

Color duets

So, having chosen a suitable shade of blue, you can proceed to finding a companion for him.

  • White and blue... Yes, this is a classic performance for the nautical theme, which has now gained unprecedented popularity. Where does such popular love come from? Everything is built on associations, blue and white is a duet for romantics, it exudes sentimentality and freshness. Use pink, coral, gold as a complement.

  • Blue and yellow... Quite an extravagant solution, suitable for a bold and striking design. This is the rare case when the proximity of a warm color makes the blue even bluer and colder. Due to this, the depth of the interior is achieved, and in some cases even the distortion of space.

  • Softer variation- combination of blue with yellow-brown tones of natural wood. It is possible to fit an expressive blue-brown duet into the framework of a marine theme by using white. And now, you are already on the deck of a ship plowing the sea.

  • Gray-blue, blue-green... Take paints and try mixing these colors. What happened? Fu, dirt! And I will say that before you are the most popular shades of 2016 according to the Pantone Institute, surprised?

The interior in such tones will appeal to restrained and even a little strict people. If you do not consider yourself to be such, choose blue-green, which adds depth and liveliness to the room. Due to the fact that the colors are related to the category of related, it becomes completely unclear where one began and the other ended.

  • Blue and pink... The combination is rare, but it has a right to exist. The main rule is the selection of tones that are close in temperature and saturation - cold blue - cold pink. Such a tandem is suitable for pop art and retro designs.

  • Among the browns, give preference to the shades of jute, chocolate, leather and cinnamon..
  • For light blue, it is important to use a companion in the "face" of white, yellow, pink and mint... The latter option is an excellent solution for a nursery.

  • Aquamarine is an amazing chameleon that takes on notes of blue or green depending on the lighting... From personal experience, I recommend combining it with pink, coral, pistachio, mint.

A tropical mix can be obtained with the right choice of accessories in orange, pink and yellow.

To prevent a room with the main blue color in the interior from looking gloomy, install spotlights or ceiling lights around the perimeter, and complement the central chandelier with floor lamps and sconces.

Two looking for a compromise

The concepts of style and color are inextricably linked. These two require a careful approach to choosing color combinations. Modern styles have practically no color restrictions: contemporary, eclectic, art deco, modern classics and ethnics. But I'll tell you more about the rest.

Classic

The classics do not go out of fashion, inspired by the heritage of antiquity, they retain their restraint and harmony. Ultra-modern furniture, an abundance of metal and plastic, flashy bright colors and contrasting combinations are inappropriate here.

White is chosen as the main tone, which is combined with delicate beige, light yellow, light blue, calm saturated shades of green and blue.

Empire style

The style originated at the beginning of the 19th century in France. Designers agree that it is the Empire style that is the highest degree of development of the classics. Due to its splendor and monumentality, it is more often used in the design of offices and living rooms.

Use noble colors and contrasting combinations - red, dark blue, burgundy, emerald green with black and white. But for decoration, a small amount of muted shades of bronze, gold and copper are suitable.

In Russia, the Empire style is divided into Russian and classical styles. The Russian Empire style is characterized by boundless pomp, the use of copper-colored furniture made from Karelian birch.

Baroque and Rococo

  • Rococo is the first "heir" of the Baroque, therefore, for a layman, the two styles often turn out to be indistinguishable.
  • In Rococo, you will not find a rich blue, but a combination of white and blue, this is please. Use light green, pink, yellow and pearl as a complement.
  • But for the baroque, you can take a closer look at more "heavy" and saturated colors - turquoise, wine, gold.

In small areas of modern apartments, these styles often look too pretentious and inappropriate.

Loft

  • The loft has just begun to win the love of our compatriots, previously industrial romance was not at all correlated with living space.
  • The style focuses on the use of cold colors found in nature, hence the widespread use of plaster white walls, brown wooden floors, gray or black furniture.
  • Saturated bright colors - blue, red, orange and green - were not left out of business.

Country

  • Country is a bright representative of rustic romance, operating with warm and soft natural colors.
  • Look for an ally to blue and light blue among brown, light yellow, light green, sand, olive. Dosed use of black and gray would be appropriate.
  • The unspoken rule of country is that all used shades should be combined with green.

High tech

Simplicity, functionality and high technology are all hi-tech. It is laconic enough, does not tolerate an abundance of colors. The main tones are gray, white, metallic and black, diluted with red, green and blue.

Modern

Style with its name is often misleading. It does not belong to the modern and originated in the 19th century.

It is characterized by fabulousness, fantasy, which determined its texture and color range. The abundance of floral ornaments in blue and green against the background of a brown-beige tone is the hallmark of Art Nouveau.

Minimalism

Conciseness and clarity are inherent not only in forms, but also in colors. The black and white interior is diluted with pure colors - lilac, dark red, green, blue.

Futurism

Futurism is the most unusual of the styles, which bears some resemblance to the furnishings of a spaceship. It will surprise you with its intricate shape of furniture, transparent glass partitions that replace walls, and many high-tech appliances.

The floor, walls and ceiling are often trimmed in white or gray. Monochrome is diluted with acid tones - lemon yellow, bright orange, fuchsia, ultramarine, light green.

Pin-up

The playful pin-up came from the 60s, came and stayed, winning the title of one of the most striking retro styles. The classic combination is a combination of warm yellow and light pink. Sometimes traditional yellow is replaced with pale orange, blue and light green.

An obligatory element of the interior is bright wall prints, collages in the style of the pin-up era, an abundance of mirrors in unusual frames and polka-dot curtains.

Provence

The French country style is easily recognizable by its colorful floral patterns, light curtains, ceramic décor, ruffles and lace. All this is side by side on a white background.

Characteristic colors are milky, light blue, light pink, pearl, sandy, pale lilac.

Looking for a corner for blue

Welcome to the living room

The blue color in the living room is inherent in the baroque and classical style. If your soul strives for ethnic styles, choose more complex shades that tend to red or green.

Pastel blue is the perfect solution for minimalism. Lavender or light blue walls, blue carpet, white furniture and French or Scandinavian country is already looming in your living room.

In a duet to the blue walls, choose white, orange, gray, cream furniture. Wooden furniture can be either light or dark, but always with a warm undertone.

Blue nursery interior

It is possible to give a nursery room to the absolute power of blue only if its owner is a cheerful, active fellow. Choose red, yellow, warm green as accent colors.

The combination of yellow and blue is an unoriginal, but a win-win option for decorating teenage and children's rooms. No less cheerful duo - blue and orange.

Let's take a look into the bedroom

For the bedroom, choose a blue of moderate saturation, it can be either dark blue or whitened blue.

Dilute the blues with natural wood shades, cream, sand, gray and white.

If saturated blue does not allow you to use a modest area of the room, decorate only one wall in the selected shade, or make a color accent on curtains, accessories and bedspread.

Enjoy Your Bath! Go to the bathroom

Blue and bathroom are a great duo. I am especially in awe of the combination of white and blue, although I find cheerful duets of blue with orange or yellow no less attractive.

About blue kitchen - to be or not to be

The idea of blue in the kitchen can be realized in several ways - in the decoration of the walls, the kitchen facade or the apron.

A great combination comes out when using complementary colors, for example, white, yellow, beige, cream, orange, peach and other berry shades.

Examples of finished projects

Origami, graffiti, brick

The main goal of this project was to create a bright design for a child's room for a teenager. What I got can be called a mix of Scandinavian, oriental and urban style.

The floor in a teenager's room must be durable, it was this fact that made me choose a red self-leveling floor with origami decor.

A dressing room of 4 m² was built to store things, and I found a place for it opposite the entrance.

The main shades of the room are red and blue. I used the latter in the decoration of the wall near which the bed is located, so the graffiti inscription appeared. Juicy blue has not passed the inner part of the dressing room.

The urban style was created by a simple technique - finishing one of the walls with panels imitating white brickwork. The window wall is covered with metal effect panels.

The main lighting is a luminous ceiling with LED panels covered with a light-diffusing, translucent stretch fabric.

And, of course, what a room without a work area. I placed it by the window, in a place with the maximum amount of natural light.

Particularly noteworthy is the couch with drawers, which in one movement transforms into a bed. To the left of the door are hinged shelves and a chest of drawers.

Scandinavian style manifested itself in wooden surfaces and simple forms of furniture, oriental - in glossy red self-leveling floor.

Used:

  • LED system, ceiling - NEWMAT HANDLIGHT;
  • self-leveling 3D floors - Poly-Floor;
  • interior door - Sofia factory;
  • photo wallpaper - Photo wallpaper studio;
  • furniture and accessories - IKEA;
  • graffiti zone - Artist Sergey Gorodenskiy
  • wall panels and radiator screen - Premier Profile.

Cafe de Paris

If you are wondering how to get a French cafe out of ordinary cuisine, this project is for you.

The working area is made in the form of a bar counter and has a U-shaped table top. White clinker brick was used for the apron.

Special attention was paid to lighting. In addition to the luminous inscription "Bar", chandeliers, which can often be found in cafes, have been mounted, which outwardly resemble Edisson's bulbs, glass facades of hanging cabinets were also illuminated with LEDs.

The window of the room overlooks the house, so I decided to make a full-fledged panoramic window out of it. No, no, no one demolished the load-bearing walls. The frescoes depicting a window, from behind which a foggy landscape is guessed, helped to successfully implement the idea.

The interior door remained from the old interior, was repainted in blue and decorated with soft panels made by hand from plywood, blue silk and metal furniture nails.

On the right side of the kitchen is the seating area. The theme of shades of blue was continued by a gradient brick wall and blue polyurethane foam panels, imitating boiserie. The upper part of the wall has become a haven for artificial onyx shelves and houseplants.

Used:

  • lamps - GRAMERCY HOME;
  • wallpaper, fresco - Affresco;
  • vinyl floor tiles - VINYL;
  • dishes, sinks, mixers - Artekey;
  • stucco molding - Europlast-Decor;
  • shelves - Polymer Onyx;
  • table and sofa - Wilkraft;
  • household appliances - Kuppersberg.

Pop art and turquoise deer antlers

The interior was based on the symbiosis of pop art and classical style. So let's go!

It all started with the ceiling, seemingly use a simple shape and emphasize the decor. But no! The plasterboard structure has been transformed into an intricate pattern of caissons, decorated with LED strip and stucco. A couple of rectangles were painted sky blue, so pieces of the sky appeared in the room.

The floor is finished with a three-layer gray oak parquet board. Due to the light toning, it was possible to emphasize the naturalness of the material.

I moved the doorway closer to the center of the wall, and replaced the interior door with a glossy white one with vertical glass inserts.

One wall is painted chocolate and has systems for storing books, boxes and precious little things. On the right is a turquoise dressing room.

A niche was formed between the two "wardrobes", which became an excellent place for a leather sofa. The highlight of the resting corner is a photopanel with colorful circles in the pop art style.

The opposite milky wall is decorated with classic moldings and a fireplace decorated with candles and colorful birdcages.

On one side, I hung vertical landscaping on the wall. The phytowall made of orchid flowers and begonia leaves is made up of modules and can be mounted to any surface.

An unusual chest of drawers in a classic form, but in a very original color scheme, settled at the front door. The striped pattern and ceramic flower pens again refer us to bright pop art.

So that the chest of drawers would not be lonely, they found a horned friend for him - a deer with turquoise antlers, which was placed in a two-tone pink and blue frame.

The furniture has bright red and denim chairs that look like eggs and a blue coffee table.

Lighting is organized by a chandelier with five shades and a designer wall lamp-transformer made of glass. Textile decor - satin curtains in deep blue and multi-colored pillows.

Used:

  • chandelier, chest of drawers, shelf - Fanfour;
  • armchair - Ogogo Furnishing;
  • textile decor - TEXTILE Trading House;
  • parquet board - Coswick Sunrise Premium factory;
  • stucco molding - Europlast-Decor;
  • artificial flowers - EDHome;
  • dressing rooms - Elfa;
  • filling the dressing room - Hellostore;
  • deer, table - Woodi;
  • screen for a radiator - Premier Profile.

Ultramarine carnival

Ultramarine was chosen as the main color of the interior. Almost all the walls are painted in juicy blue.

The ceiling has a complex structure - it is lowered along the perimeter and raised in the center, illuminated by fluorescent lamps.

Three structures were built from drywall: at the door for installing the cabinet, two at the head of the bed. Hidden here are two sconces and bright yellow bedside tables.

I decided to cover the wall at the head with mirrored panels and close it with a blue plastic grate. The same grille is mounted at the foot of the bed on top of a glossy white panel.

Lighting in the room is provided by a chandelier, a floor lamp and two sconces with red lampshades.

Used:

  • decorative plastic products - 3A Composites;
  • mirror panels - SIBU DESIGN;
  • interior doors and partitions - Sofia factory;
  • parquet board - Decor Prestige;
  • stretch ceiling - Studio-NP;
  • furniture and accessories - IKEA;
  • radiator screen - Premier Profile;
  • breather - Tion.

Conclusion

If you want to express gratitude, add clarification or objection, ask the author something - add a comment or say thank you!

Silence, lightness, height, coolness, freshness, depth, spaciousness ... Here is an incomplete list of abstractions associated with blue.
In Christianity, blue is the emblem of spirituality, a satellite of the Mother of God; in Islam - the color of holiness, mystical contemplation.
Eastern teachings interpret blue as a sign of harmony, sensuality, tenderness. In Feng Shui, it symbolizes the feminine principle and is associated with caring, maternal concern.

Modern man is not indifferent to the bright blue color also because he is identified with vacations, beaches, resorts ... Other attributes of a happy, carefree life.
However, like any other color, blue can also evoke unpleasant emotions. Too dark tones will be associated with some dark secret, cause anxiety, unaccountable alarm ...

Stylistics and blue

The traditional blue color scheme interacts with many: from to and.
For example, this color will not do without: Empire, Rococo, Art Nouveau and other luxurious styles; it is not for nothing that many shades of blue have self-explanatory names: palace, precious, royal, imperial ...

Loft, hi-tech and minimalism also welcome blue, especially shades such as slate, deep cobalt or blue with a metallic sheen.
And it's absolutely impossible without blue when it comes to a house in Greek, Roman, Arabic and Egyptian styles. Or when the dwelling is decorated in Russian, based on reasons.

Blue color and features of the room

You, of course, remember the axiom that dark color visually "compresses" the space, making the dwelling smaller. So, forget about it. Contrary to all the rules and prejudices, the blue color does not diminish the room. This is its nature: the blue walls seem to expand the room, and the blue top creates the illusion of an evening sky, visually raising the ceiling.

However, it is worth remembering that blue “cools”, fills the monastery with “morning freshness”. Therefore, it will best fit into compact rooms with windows facing the sun.

Advice... Do not use blue on too large surfaces, if you do not want your home to look emphatically - official and even "official".

Blue from the doorstep to the kitchen

Interspersed with bright blue color will enliven the interior of any room, add expression and color. For example:
... If it is light, saturated shades of blue, cornflower blue or cobalt will do. If there is not enough light, azure or ultramarine tones will help out.

In order not to overload the hallway with one color, we recommend painting only one wall in moderate blue by hanging a mirror in front of it: this way the room will immediately "expand" in breadth, fill with fresh air.
And if you want to add heights, use blue on the ceiling.
And you can also combine several shades of blue, for example, blue, a chest of drawers against the background of a pearl blue wall will look grand and create a sense of perspective.

Advice... Especially relevant lately is such a shade of blue as Tiffany. This amazingly beautiful tone, close to turquoise and blue, got its name thanks to the jewelry company, which chose it as its talisman. Armchairs, bookcases, light tables, Tiffany-colored textiles diluted with silver or sand shades are the hallmark of houses where material well-being is intertwined with subtle manners and sophistication of taste.

Blue's ability to add space can be a bad joke if the room is already large. In this case, blue tones will make it faceless, monotonous.
It is important to consider both the location of the windows and the amount of natural light. If there is not much of it, the windows are facing north, the abundance of blue will give the living room a gloom and aloofness.

Actually, in order to beautifully and brightly decorate the interior of the main room of the house, there are enough soft pieces of furniture: a large sofa, armchairs or ottomans in cornflower blue. And if you add white curtains, a couple of sea shells on a shelf and a landscape a la Aivazovsky to this ensemble, you get not just a blue, but a "sea" living room!

- the optimal option. A blue lamp, curtains, chair upholstery will relieve eye strain, invigorate and promote productive intellectual activity.

The blue color perfectly calms the nerves, preparing for healthy, quality sleep. In addition, if the walls of the bedroom are painted in a smoky sapphire color, they seem to dissolve, enveloping the bed in a "real" night haze. This enchanting effect can be enhanced with stretch ceilings with imitation of a starry sky.

With the help of juicy strokes of a cheerful blue color (by the way, this is not an epithet, but the official name of one of the shades), they often create a perky nursery with a bias in the marine theme. Or even a pirate one - if they add a poster with a map of the "treasure island", and hang a canopy in the form of a sail over the bed.
As you know, a children's room should combine a play area and a recreation area. The advantage of blue is that it does both. In the play area of the room, blue, along with other primary colors, will stimulate the development of the child, encourage him to be creative, and in the relaxation area, lull and lull him to sleep.

Blue here is definitely the king, even the god is Neptune. This is not allowed to forget the names of many shades of blue color: the color of Niagara, the color of the Bay of Biscay, Adriatic, Caribbean, Aegean, Danube, Mediterranean, Pacific ...
- Choose any!

The bathroom can also be decorated in an adventurous marine spirit: hang curtains and towels with dolphins and seahorses, attach a mirror in a frame stylized as a steering wheel, place a rug in the shape of a starfish on the floor ... And if you add juicy spots of yellow, orange or green to the blue colors (dispensers, holders, vinyl decals) - get a beach or tropical style. Such an entourage will contribute to a special relaxation - complete and blissful ...

They say that the blue color suppresses appetite. But science does not know the facts when a person refused his favorite dish just because he dined in a blue dining room. But the presence of cornflower blue, bellflower, turquoise-blue fragments makes the kitchen more "airy" and, oddly enough, cleaner in appearance.

In the kitchen, napkins, cushions on chairs, vases, ceramic dishes and bowls, as well as furniture fronts or an "apron" in the cooking area can be blue, or better turquoise. In such an environment, the meal will resemble a picnic in the fresh, sea air.

Combinations of blue in the home interior

The classic of the genre is a combination of blue with shades of brown. These tones are perfect for each other: both natural, unobtrusive, soothing.

The most popular and pleasing to the eye include the following duets:

  • blue and white - will enhance the atmosphere of lightness, neatness and freshness;
  • blue and mint green - will give the room a "landscape", bring a sense of harmony and fullness of being;
  • blue and yellow - an excellent "medicine" for blues, an option for creative, relaxed natures;
  • blue and silver - the embodiment of discreet luxury, suitable for living rooms and bedrooms in a classic style;
  • blue and pink are a bit of an extravagant couple that will nevertheless make your home dynamic and elegant.

Accessories and decor for the blue interior

This color is literally related to silk, porcelain and faience, "sea decorations" (shells, corals, stars), with gold or silver trim.

One or another decorative element is chosen not only for color, but also, mainly for the style of the home. For example, for the Russian country style, look for wall plates with blue painting across the white field. For the French provincial - linen curtains, tablecloths and capes in white with a light, forget-me-not print. And for the Mediterranean theme, blue and gilded amphora jugs and floor vases are suitable.

Advice... Furniture with parts of dark, textured wood, gilded or silver items (candlestick, casket, mirror frame) automatically transform the blue living room into a rich aristocratic salon.

Shades of blue are located in the color spectrum between green and purple. It affects the nervous system of an individual ambiguously: it helps to relieve nervous overexcitement after a hard day, relax, tune in to a peaceful, philosophical way, create a feeling of detachment from the real world. It must be remembered that this tone has both warm and cold shades.

The use of blue in the interior must be careful and thoughtful.

Classic blue is called "royal". If you look at shades close to purple, then it is blue, sapphire, cornflower blue, Prussian blue. From green, turquoise and aqua are produced.

The human eye has long been accustomed to all variations of this color. He just can't get bored. Psychologists say that a morally tired individual will go exactly where there is blue in the interior. They believe that he personifies silence, lightness, calmness.

The impact of blue depends on the shade: light tones give peace and tranquility, dark ones - depth and excitement

Many office spaces are decorated in this particular tone, only variations and play of light can change. If you choose dark blue, then the attitude towards him changes dramatically, he personifies excitement, mystery. This color scheme is chosen by individuals who prefer loneliness, childless married couples.

Vibrant decorative elements help soften the impact of blue

The color blue in the interior has the following stimulating properties:

  1. Stimulates increased brain function.
  2. Helps to develop creatively.
  3. Relaxes.
  4. Strengthens visual, auditory, tactile activity.
  5. Relieves hunger.
  6. Makes you more sensual.

A classic living room in blue is a very bold decision

Pure blue interiors are not so common.

Combination with third-party tones

Despite the fact that blue is quite bright, multifaceted shade, it can be perfectly combined with many colors:

Colour Characteristic
White The combination of blue plus white has long been considered a classic. Any shade of blue can be. With this style of decoration in the room, you can create an atmosphere of lightness. If blue and white are correctly combined, there will be an almost physical sensation of coolness. The composition will be completed with bright small details.
Black Only an experienced and talented master can harmonize the combination of these shades. It is not recommended to decorate a room only with them. If you like the idea, there is a desire to try, then special attention should be paid to the correct lighting. Lamps with warm, diffusing light are preferred.
Yellow A favorite for an eclectic, welcoming style. Yellow, like blue, can be cold and warm. If the room is decorated in a rustic style, then the combination of cornflower blue plus light yellow will be very successful.
Orange The ideal partner for blue. In this tandem, one should be warm, the other cold, and vice versa. For example, neon orange will blend in with sapphire or turquoise. If you choose between muted tones and undertones of orange: salmon, peach, amber, then bright blue will be preferable.
Red A combination that excites the imagination and the nervous system. One color should be dominant, the second is better to use pointwise.
Brown Looks good next to blue. A room decorated in the style of this color scheme looks expensive and noble.

The combination of blue with other shades is the embodiment of calm and serenity

Yellow is great for diluting a cold interior created by a dark blue tint.

Many designers like to play with tones of the same color. Blue is able to pleasantly surprise them. Light ones can be used for painting walls, dark ones for furniture.

Interior decoration

Modern designers love to work with blue in the interior. It is suitable for any room: kitchen, living room, bedroom, hall. Cold ones look great in spacious rooms where there is a lot of sunlight. If the windows "look" to the north or west, then it is better to use the blue color in the interior in small quantities.

Shades of blue saturate the interior with freshness, give it depth and lightness

As paradoxical as it may sound, the deep shades of this color are perfect for painting the walls of small rooms. He will make her cozy, warm. For example, it could be a bedroom. If the area is large, a lot of dark blue will make it gloomy. In this case, blue, aquamarine, indigo will look much more advantageous.

Blue shades can give a room depth and make it visually more spacious.

When drawing up a design project, it is necessary to pay close attention to the lighting of the room. This is especially true for the office, living room. The main chandelier can be supplemented with small, spotlights, sconces, and a floor lamp. Blue will perfectly complement the interior of a room decorated in an oriental style. Blue shades will lift ceilings higher. If you want to visually expand the room, then you can paint one of the walls in natural blue, the rest in more neutral and calm tones.

The palette of blue is quite varied and rich.

It is not recommended to force a room decorated in a given color scheme with a large number of furniture accessories. The predominant cool blue gives the impression of cleanliness and sterility. The effect will be enhanced by dishes of gray, silver tones. This solution will perfectly fit into the style of minimalism, high-tech.

Living room design

The living room is rightfully called the "soul" of the house. They receive guests, relax, celebrate holidays. Experienced designers recommend using several tones in the design at once. If the walls are light blue, then the furniture elements can be selected darker. Wallpapers of a rich tone will gently dilute lilac, pearl, gray. One large or 2-3 small accessories of this color will give the atmosphere a peculiar look. Blue accents can be diluted with the prevailing gray or beige.

The popular gray-blue tandem is very easy to perceive

The blue-green combination brings calm and serenity

Denim style is an interesting option for the living room

If there is massive blue furniture in the living room, then it must be diluted with pillows, lamps, vases, covers of other colors.

Bedroom design

As noted above, blue in the interior is ideal for a bedroom. He will make it more comfortable, create a relaxing atmosphere. But, do not use dark shades when decorating, they will be annoying. Chocolate, beige, white are in harmony with it. For the play of light, you can install a mirror.

The blue-brown combination is natural, so mountains and sea, sky and trees, flowers and land can be combined

Any bedroom can be given originality, uniqueness, if you choose the right color scheme of bed linen. For example, blue sheets are combined with beige, gray, brown.

Blue-blue combination will visually expand the bedroom space, if blue is used as accents

Small Scandinavian style bedroom

Thin, romantic natures prefer a combination of blue, gray wallpaper with beige furniture and accessories. It is not necessary to glue or paint all the walls with this color; it is enough to correctly place several accent objects (furniture, pillows, curtains, bedspreads, covers). It can be diluted with yellow, green, beige.

Kitchen Design

In the past few years, it has become very fashionable to decorate the kitchen in blue tones, any is suitable. They refresh the overall look of the space, fight hunger. But, you should not only use it in the interior, even in different variations, it quickly gets boring.

Choosing the color of the night sky for kitchen interior decoration is not the most standard solution.

Furniture, decor elements, lighting

Lighting is considered an important point in the design of a blue living room. Standard lighting is appropriate. Lamps, sconces with light blue or white and blue illumination will look interesting.

With the help of lighting, you can highlight individual areas of the room. For example, designate a recreation area (sofa, TV, etc.) and a work area. Of course, such an interior is more suitable for small living rooms. Corner or floor lamps will perfectly fit into the interior.

Against the background of light blue or turquoise walls, bright blue furniture looks original. You can balance the interior with the help of floor vases and figurines made in the same color. A sophisticated solution - massive armchairs in turquoise or aquamarine color.

Green, white or orange furniture will add coziness to the blue living room: a sofa, a neat table, floor lamps, ottomans, etc.

The decor in gold and silver looks rich and impressive against the background of blue tones. Massive blue furniture in the living room looks like some kind of foreign body, if not supplemented with pillows or covers of other colors used in its design.

Living room in blue tones does not match with very dark decor items. It is also necessary to use curtains wisely. They should be blue and white, delicate turquoise or even bright white.

Beautiful vertical or horizontal curtains or ornamented blinds are also suitable. Gold and silver decor looks expensive and stylish against the background of blue tones, creating a refined atmosphere in the Art Deco style.

The combination of blue with other colors

Blue goes well with many color shades. But this does not mean at all that it can be mixed with anything.

Blue is best combined with the following colors:

White... This is one of the most harmonious combinations. A living room in blue tones with the addition of white will look classic and austere, but at the same time it will be possible to relax in it. This combination will create a feeling of freshness. White color perfectly sets off any blue shades. The only thing is that the color scheme of blue and white should be diluted with accessories of bright colors. This combination is appropriate in a nautical, Mediterranean style.

The combination of blue and beige is cozy enough. Beige can be either very light, almost milky, or active, sandy. Warm sandy and complement the blue perfectly, making it warmer and softer. The living room furnishings will be psychologically comfortable and homelike.

Chocolate, coffee color is combined with blue and light blue shades. Living room in blue with brown tones in furniture, decorative leather elements looks very advantageous. Suitable for ethnic styles. Perfectly combines blue with all shades of brown.

Blue with red is a bright, active combination. It is better to use red only as an accent, and for balance it is worth adding white. Red enhances the saturation of blue. This combination is ideal for creative people who are not afraid to experiment. The combination of colors excites the nervous system. Red can give blue extra depth if one of them is dominant and the other is used pointwise.

Green... Various shades of green combined with blue tones allow you to create a classic and sometimes even conservative interior. It is always beautiful and graceful.

Yellow... A living room in blue looks great in combination with additions of a yellow shade. The main thing is to keep the proportion, and not "overdo it" with yellow. Blue is perfectly complemented by shades of yellow and orange. This contrasting combination creates an extraordinary eclectic interior.

The combination of blue and gray is classic, decorated in these colors, it will look austere and formal. A strict and elegant combination gives any tone. Matte gray is used more often, but pearl gray looks very noble (if you add blue or purple). Dark gray will perfectly complement transparent blue.

Blue is a noble, elegant color, but if you overdo it, its advantages quickly become disadvantages. The use of dark and rich colors in the blue interior and design of the living room will add sophistication and luxury to the room.
