Design studio for children house of creativity. Communication design

The School of Design Thinking and Industrial Design Make School is a children's educational project of the industrial design studio Make Fabrication Studio. The studio provides industrial design, prototyping and small-scale production services using modern digital technologies, develops and launches products of its own design, is a regular participant in festivals dedicated to innovations and modern technologies (Geek Picnic, Maker's Fair, Science Festival). The Center for Youth Innovative Creativity "Make" operates on the basis of the studio.

The Make Fabrication Studio team conducts training courses and master classes on object design and digital production at the Flacon design plant, participated in the development and implementation of educational programs for the Details School of Design, Lomonosov Schools, and a summer camp at Bauman University.

"Grandpa is the editor-in-chief of Yeralash, dad is a well-known director, and no one has filmed me in films."

Make Fabrication Studio is the first and only Certified Inventor Club Leader in Russia by LittleBits (www.littlebits.cc), one of the leaders in STEAM education. The partnership enables the School's students to become members of the global LittleBits community. Students can share their inventions on the company's international online platform, learn from practitioners in their field, share their projects with kids from all over the world, and participate in design challenges.

Why is industrial design promising?

The main task of industrial design is to "package" complex and increasingly complicated technologies into an object that is understandable and easily used by users.
In this area, changes are constantly taking place. Modern technologies (artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things, biomimicry) give designers the opportunity to practically not limit their imaginations when creating new things. In the future, the world will move from the traditional linear economy (resources-production-use utilization) to a circular economy (more rational, reuse of resources, a concept of use instead of a concept of ownership). Examples of such innovative companies are Uber, AirBnb, etc.

And in the future, when creating a new product (or redesigning an existing one), the industrial designer, at the beginning of development, will need to think over how the product will be used after it fails or becomes obsolete. This affects the choice of materials, structural elements, packaging, and user experience design. Therefore, today it is necessary to rethink the design of almost all existing objects and systems.

What is design thinking and why is it needed?

Design thinking is a method of creating new products and services that are focused on a person and his needs. This approach allows you to effectively create new products that will not gather dust on the shelves like unnecessary inventions, but will be in demand on the market.
In the classroom at Make School, students:
- get acquainted with the design thinking techniques and try to apply them in practice, working on their projects;
- create prototypes of inventions from scrap materials and using rapid prototyping tools (LittleBits electrical blocks), which are used today in their work by well-known international companies such as Google X, Ideo, SAP, TechStars, etc .;
- how real industrial designers use sketchbooks to document their ideas and search for inspiration, keep Invention Journals, which reflect all stages of work on projects;
- participate in international design challenges from LittleBits and learn to present their projects.

Classes are held:
design-plant "Flacon", B. Novodmitrovskaya str. 36, building 26
Junior School, Ostrovityanova st., 5
Library number 91, Entuziastov highway, 78k1

The program includes three courses:

  1. Art studio and calligraphy (2-year course) for grades 1-4
The course is an excursion into history through the development of different techniques and trends in art. Each lesson is a certain milestone in the development of art. The student will be able to feel like an ancient Greek by creating a sketch of a drawing of an ancient Greek amphora, an art worker of Ancient Egypt and many others.
  2. Design and drawing for grades 5-11.
Classes will show the student an abundance of areas of creativity, and he will be able to choose the most interesting for himself in the future, in which he wants to develop. When mastering the course "Design", the children will create works that meet modern creative trends in the world, such as: site layout (sketch), layout (art object), logo design, creation of a cartoon character sketch. The guys will learn to work with analogs and generate ideas in different ways. Each lesson will create one completed work that the student will bring home.
  3. Sketching for grades 6-11.
This course lays the foundations for the art of quick sketching through sketching. Since sketching is based on stylization, students, developing imaginative thinking, will learn to stylize objects using the main characteristics of the depicted objects.

Design and drawing courses - program features:

  • Creation of artwork in each of the lessons.
  • An introduction to the history of art (modern and classical).
  • Learning popular painting techniques.
  • Mastering the technology of working with various creative materials and techniques.
  • Possibility of further training on the course "Sketching".
  • 5 best children's architecture centers
  • New course of Olga Kosyreva's design lecture: "Four Conversations about Contemporary Design"
  • Daniyar Yusupov: An incomparable pleasure. Part 4
  • Lectures by key speakers of the Moscow Urban Forum
  • Let us start with a very important statement by the practicing architect and young mother Katerina Blinovskaya, who devotes part of his work and personal time to educational work with children. She is sure that this is necessary for the development of a child at any age: “This type of activity seems very important to me, and I think that any architectural bureau can find an opportunity to arrange a children's architectural holiday, tell about their work, and give children the opportunity to try themselves in the role of architects. Personally, I am in favor of making such events easily accessible and free. Such classes contribute to expanding horizons, the ability to see and understand architecture, the emergence of general ideas about our profession, give the joy of creativity and communication right now, regardless of whether the child wants to study architecture in the future. School of Architectural Development - SHAR

According to the FORBS rating, this educational institution was included in the ten most interesting art studios in Moscow. Despite the fact that it is suitable for both adults and children, most of the wards of the SHAR are, of course, schoolchildren. Each of them chooses a curriculum that is interesting to him: integration, art graphics, sculpture, spatial coloring, academic drawing, architectural drawing, history of architecture, spatial modeling and many others.

The School also has "external groups" for adults, which are also engaged in one direction or another: architectural drawing, painting, digital photography, interior design.

Classes in the SHAR are conducted by teachers from the Moscow Architectural Institute. The main goal is the development of creativity and potential, familiarization of students with the direct process of creativity, as well as the architectural and design environment. Sharovtsev's motto: Creativity is the social essence of man.

Oddly enough, SHAR receives both positive and negative reviews. However, the latter are more often associated not with the educational process itself - most are just satisfied with it - but with “everyday” conditions; on Internet forums, many complain, for example, that the student audiences in which classes are held are now in a deplorable state. As for the rest, nothing hinders the creative atmosphere that prevails in the School of Architectural Development.

    Children's Art School "START"

The school is for children aged 5 to 17 years. Here children can plunge into the secrets of architecture and design for the first time, begin to study architectural and artistic design, prototyping, computer graphics and more. START humanizes school education, creating an integrated course of AHT (architectural and artistic creation), based on the unification of school disciplines through architecture.

Basically, this School collects only positive feedback from START children themselves and their parents. It is especially tempting that the company has many foreign colleagues: the works of the School's students are constantly exhibited in the USA, Finland, India, Norway and other countries. It is also attractive that the classes are taught by eminent teachers, seven of whom have received the title of laureates of the State Prize of the Russian Federation. They also prepare their senior pupils (children from ninth to eleventh grades) for admission to creative universities.

This project is interesting because it aims to work with the smallest architects aged 4 to 7 years. In the circle, kids in the form of a game master the basics of modeling, design and construction, using for this the most common children's constructor of blocks and pyramids.

The Pope Carlo School, designed for young architects, was opened by Vera Vladimirovna Brofman, Ph.D. Her method, according to the parents of the children in the circle, is unique. Brofman is a wonderful teacher, she manages to find an approach to each child, teach him to think and invent. Vera Vladimirovna's program, recognized all over the world, is aimed at developing the spatial thinking, cognitive abilities and imagination of the child.

In the Workshop, named after the hero of a famous fairy tale, an atmosphere of joy and creativity always reigns: the guys come up with their own locks, then they create drawings using special templates, and then they build it in practice.

The full one year course at the School of Architecture consists of 36 lessons. Despite the fact that it is designed for children, the program in the classroom is just like in adults: first, children are engaged in the class of plane drawing of three-dimensional geometric bodies, then separately in the construction of drawings and architecture. Upon completion of training, each student of Pope Carlo must pass a real thesis project.

For parents who are not sure whether it is worth giving their child to this architectural school, special master classes are held, where adults are invited strictly together with their children.

One of the most important aspects of learning in this School of Architecture is, of course, a game, such as Guess. In it, children are offered drawings of parts in three projections. The facilitator chooses a part, the participants select a drawing for it and explain why it fits. The one who guessed the most number of times won. In another game - "Confusion" - parts and their drawings are mixed; here children have to put each of the parts back in the correct place.

Experience shows that after attending these classes, kids are better at using different types of graphic models, they can easily translate one schematic image into another, keep the schematized image of the object in the presentation.

Anastasia Golovina, an architect, restorer, artist and part-time teacher, also teaches children the basics of the skills of an architect and designer. Anastasia's learning process is slightly different from what we are used to seeing: the girl introduces the children to the intricacies of architecture playfully, namely by creating various houses: designed, drawn on paper, sculpted from clay, plasticine or plaster, created from leather, wood and other materials. Almost all of her courses, such as "Geometric Shapes in Architecture", "How to Draw Beautiful Houses", "Coloring Pages" and others, are really accompanied by the creation and execution of the most diverse, real and fantastic, models of houses.

The course "Geometric Shapes in Architecture", recently developed by Anastasia, is especially popular and interesting among young architects. Visiting it, you can learn about structures of various forms, understand what the pros and cons of a particular design are, and also understand the variety of uses of the same form. Already in the first lesson, the child receives a difficult task for a beginner - to draw an architectural form and build its own model from any material. This course is designed for those children who have previously managed to pass the first stage - the course "How to draw a beautiful house."

As Anastasia herself reports in her blog, in order to get to classes, you need to go through the so-called selection - to complete the task, photograph it and post it on one of the social networks with a link to Anastasia Golovina. Having received a notification about the appearance of a new work, the architect reviews it and immediately gives a detailed commentary - “an analysis of the work, its strengths, and also what needs to be taken into account so that the next work is performed by young architects at a higher level. And also a couple of admiring reviews from friends, which will be nice for any mother. "

This project, located in the ARTPLAY design center, has the least relation to architecture. This School specializes in teaching children (ages 9 to 12) the art of design, animation and filmmaking, with a focus on photography.

It is interesting that, according to the organizers of the School, most of their pupils are not going to become professional photographers in the future. Each of them is simply interested in this at the “amateur level”: through creativity, the guys strive to find a way to express themselves, to understand who they really are.

Classes at the School are of two types - seminars and workshops. Seminars are held according to a specific scenario. It is built in such a way as to deeply and from all sides reveal a given topic. Workshops, on the other hand, are creative activities to which the child can choose to attend: everyone chooses the teacher whose approach to photography is as close as possible to his own.

It is important that the School pays great attention to making the child comfortable: you can change the schedule, change the format of classes, change the teacher and simply transfer to another group.

The organizers place an emphasis in training on the development of the creative abilities of children, teaching them a visual language, with the help of which young photographers, designers and architects can not only understand the world around them, but also learn to shape it on their own.

As you know, the word design quite firmly established in the Russian language for a long time. It designates both the process of activity and its result. The fact is that the English translation of this word is very polysemantic: design is a drawing, a sketch, and a plan, and this word can also be translated as a verb - to draw, invent, and so on. Be that as it may, this term means something creative, something that is clearly aimed at improving or decorating reality.

Studios, houses and schools for creative development invite interested boys and girls to classes, lectures and master classes, where competent and experienced teachers will share the secrets of the profession, teach children to create and design things with their own hands, and educate an aesthetic taste. Even the smallest children are happy to be involved in the process and develop fine motor skills, thinking, and creativity.

Designers are in demand in many areas of modern society: it is not in vain that many universities train professionals who can work in various fields - for example, interior designers, clothing, industrial premises, landscapes, etc. Often, skills acquired in childhood help children to understand all the subtleties deeper and the secrets of this direction of creativity according to the laws of beauty.

Kindergarten landscape design: thinking about safety

The courtyards of kindergartens, as a rule, should be not only beautiful, but also safe for children. One of the top tips for those who design their territories - instead of pouring concrete over the site, it is better to sow grass. Preschoolers often do not stay on their feet during active games, and the grass will soften their fall. In addition, it is an environmentally friendly material, the costs of which are very low. Outdoor team games (basketball, volleyball) require wooden flooring - this is also an environmentally friendly and inexpensive way to improve the design of the territory. You should not get carried away with planting a large number of flowers: the guys can accidentally damage them and violate the integrity of the composition. And, of course, you cannot plant plants that can prick children (for example, roses, but this is not very applicable to the northern latitudes of Russia). Safe objects are also rubberized or plastic figures, as well as artificial grass. But it is important that these materials are of high quality and non-toxic.

How to develop design skills in a preschooler with applied tasks

While performing applied tasks, the children should be aware that the fruit of their labor should be noticeable and implemented in real life. Therefore, the goals become specific: for example, to create a poster for a festival, a business card or an element of interior design. It will be wrong if what a boy or girl creates simply falls on the shelf. At the same time, children can independently arrange elements, apply new knowledge and skills. Moreover, experimentation and flight of imagination are encouraged - many adults can marvel at the creative thinking of kids!

What are closed and open compositions?

Not only the future artist and graphic artist, but also the designer should be familiar with the basics of building a composition. What are they like? Allocate closed and open. The first (which can also be called static or closed) embodies the ideas of solidity, steadfastness, stability and immobility. It is characterized by the main directions of the lines directed towards the center, the construction of popular geometric objects according to the shape, taking into account symmetry. The closed composition has a clear outer contour. And the open composition gives a feeling of spaciousness, freedom, "air". In this case, the lines are directed not towards the center, but away from it. Often there is not one compositional knot, but several, a kind of rhythm is felt.
