Making handmade soap at home. Soap recipes at home for beginners, technology

Soap is one of the most common products used by a person in everyday life. And although at any outlet it is on sale, and the choice in specialized departments and stores is simply huge, the topic of DIY soap making is very common. And the main reason is that such soap is in demand. the basics with our own hands, we will cover in this article.

The history of soap making

Using soap every day, we know very little about it, as a rule, this knowledge is limited to issues related to its use. Meanwhile, it is an ancient subject and has a very interesting history. According to the existing legend, for the first time the detergent properties of soap components were used in Rome.

On the Mount Sapo existing there, rituals of sacrificing animals to the gods were performed through their burning. In the rain, the ash from the fire and the fat of the dead animals were washed into the river. Over time, people noticed that clothes are washed much faster in this river than in others.

The beginning of soap production can be dated back to the 6th century BC. e, and the Phoenician and Gallic tribes are considered the first soapmakers. Based on written sources, the first records of soap date back to the 1st century AD. This activity was most widespread in places where a raw material base existed, namely, where there was a lot of soda, olive oil, fats and forests for burning and obtaining ash.

Soap composition

To create soap, you need to have certain components available, if at least one is missing, then nothing will work:

Fat or oil, it does not matter whether they are of animal or vegetable origin;

Lye (caustic soda);

The soap making process is quite simple - combine all the components and wait for the soap to harden. Previously, they did this, but today, with a huge choice, certain requirements are put forward for soap, especially manual robots, including aesthetic ones. Although the production process is simple, there are many secrets, as, indeed, in any business. Despite the fact that there are not so many components in the soap, people still managed to make it easier for themselves the process of making it at home. So they emerged from a soap base.

What is a soap base

In the process of soap making, it can be called the beginning of all beginnings. Recipes for homemade soap from a soap base are simple and affordable, because it is practically a soap that is colorless and odorless. That is, having this component on hand, you can develop a flight of fantasy to unprecedented heights.

If, however, making soap at home, you can do only with natural ingredients, then the soap base, in addition to vegetable oils and glycerin, also contains surfactants - surfactants. Most often, buyers of such a soap strive to purchase a natural product, without chemical additives, but today it is difficult to create it so that it meets all the requirements, and even at an affordable price. It is for this reason that the soap base is in demand among lovers of creating soap at home.

Making soap. Where to start?

Now let's take a closer look at how to create handmade soap. Soap-based recipes are simple, so this process will not cause difficulties. First of all, you need to understand what kind of result you would like to get. Although soap making in itself is not difficult, but, nevertheless, the soap base does not have the color, smell and other qualities that we would like to see in the end. To fill these gaps, it will be necessary to add some components. For example, adding oil can reduce the foaminess of the soap. Therefore, you cannot do without studying the basic course.

So what is the first thing you need to make soap from a base? The recipes (recipes for soap making are quite simple) are detailed and understandable here.

Components for crafting:

  1. Soap base.
  2. Cosmetic and essential oils.
  3. Food colorings. They are the most harmless.
  4. Flavors, dried flowers.

Instruments:

  1. Molds.
  2. Scales, preferably accurate (electronic).
  3. Thermometer, special syringe.

Basic soap making lesson

Recipes for homemade soap from a soap base in this case will be the simplest. For example, honey soap.

  1. Soap base (transparent) - 100 g.
  2. Honey food flavoring - 4-6 drops.
  3. Refined jojoba oil - 0.25 tsp
  4. Natural honey - 0.5 tsp.

1. It is necessary to determine the required amount of base.

2. Cut the soap base. It can be into cubes, you can grate it on a coarse grater. We melt it. To do this, you can use a microwave or gas, but it must be remembered that in no case should the base boil. And the optimal temperature is 60-65 degrees. A thermometer, preferably an electronic thermometer, will become a good helper in keeping the temperature.

3. Add oil, flavor, honey. It is important to stick to the dosages given in the recipe here, as excess ingredients can affect the quality of the soap and its hardening ability.

4. If in the future it will be necessary to add dye to the soap, then this must be done carefully. Firstly, for uniform distribution over the soap, the latter must be constantly stirred, and secondly, so that the soap does not “paint” in the future, it is important not to overdo it with the amount.

5. The mixture must be thoroughly mixed with a small whisk or wooden sticks and, pouring into molds, allow to cool. You can spray the spilled liquid with alcohol to avoid the formation of bubbles.

Soap additives

If you want to make colored inserts, for example, flowers, shells, etc., into soap from a soap base, it is better to take handmade soap recipes with a transparent base. The inserts themselves are made by means of special shapes, while a white base can be used. Inserts are made according to the same principle as soap:

To add liners to soap, you should:

  1. Melt the soap base.
  2. Add all the ingredients listed in the soap recipe.
  3. Pour a small layer of liquid into the mold.
  4. Insert inserts into it. If you fear that they will melt, then you can pre-place them in the refrigerator.
  5. Pour in the rest of the liquid, while cooling it a little, stirring with a spatula, and pouring without hitting the liners with a jet.

Handmade soap recipes from soap base

Handmade soaps can be made with various additives. They can be:

Perhaps the recipes for handmade soap from a soap base with the addition of dried flowers will be difficult to understand. But there are absolutely no difficulties in making such a soap. For example, consider a recipe for adding calendula flowers:

  2. nutmeg - 0.25 tsp.
  3. brown 3-4 drops
  4. Calendula dried flowers - 1 or 2 tbsp. l.
  5. Form and mixer.

1. For the preparation of the broth - 100 ml of water, boiled and 1 tbsp. l. flowers. Let the broth settle for up to two hours.

2. Melt ½ of the soap base. Add calendula decoction and 2 or 3 drops of paint to the base. Beat the base and all the ingredients, without removing from the heat, until the mass increases. The broth should be added carefully, as the soap can be very fragile in the future. And whipped it is also fragile

3. Pour the mixture into the mold, filling it halfway, but this must be done quickly so as not to harden.

4. Prepare the second part of the soap in the same way, but add 1 drop of dye.

5. Pour the second part of the soap into the mold over the already filled one. Decorate with calendula flowers from a decoction, while they should be "drowned" a little in soap.

Once the soap has cooled, you can use it.

Base oil

It can be anything: coconut, almond, olive, castor, grape and apricot seeds. The oil is almost entirely composed of organic compounds: fatty acids, vitamins, waxes, microelements that are extremely beneficial to the skin.

Add no more than ½ teaspoon of oil to 100 g of soap base. An overdose of essential oils can cause severe allergies, and the soap will stop lathering.

There are many varieties of base oils, each with its own therapeutic effect and infusing homemade soaps with skin-friendly properties.

Handmade solid color soaps can be made with food grade water-soluble dyes.

  • Cocoa and coffee will make the soap chocolate.
  • The chamomile infusion will give the soap a yellow tint.
  • Saffron and curry are bright yellow.
  • Spinach, dill and parsley are green.
  • Beet juice - red or pink.
  • Essential chamomile oil - blue.

Do not use petals of red rose (gives a dirty gray color) or hibiscus tea (gives a dirty green color) to get red shades.

Natural dyes have low light fastness and quickly fade in the sun. Therefore, such soap must be stored in a dark place.

For multi-color layered soaps, use liquid or dry pigment in standard and neon shades. Pigment dyes give a bright, rich color and make the soap slightly matte. Before adding to the soap base, dry pigment must be rubbed with oil or glycerin.

How to make homemade soap

Step 1

Prepare all the necessary ingredients in advance: dyes, oils, fillers, and so on. Cut the soap base into small cubes and melt in a water bath. Make sure that the substrate temperature does not rise above 60 ° C. Otherwise, bubbles will form in the soap and its quality will deteriorate.

Step 2

When the soap base is completely melted, add any base oil you like, dye and one teaspoon of filler, such as ground, to it. In this case, coffee will act as a colorant and give the product a deep chocolate shade.

Step 3

Pour the mass into a mold, after sprinkling it with alcohol from a spray bottle. If you are working with several layers, then when pouring a new one do not forget to spray the previous one with alcohol and lightly scratch its surface for better adhesion of the layers. The surface of the soap can be decorated with whole coffee beans.
