What to make a mixer for a drill at home. Varieties of electric construction mixers and attachments for them

When mixing putty, resins, concrete and plaster, as well as when tinting paint, the whisk nozzle is indispensable, which is fixed on a perforator or drill and speeds up the mixing process. The mixer allows you to qualitatively mix the solution or tint acrylic, while it costs a penny and requires knowledge of the level of a parish school to use. Below, the Stroyremontiruy blog will tell you how to choose an accessory, taking into account the purpose of use and the features of the hammer drill.

What are the attachments

The choice of mixer nozzles is sufficient today, but choosing the best option for yourself is not so easy, because mixers differ in:

  1. Brand,
  2. Shank type,
  3. Diameter and height of the basket,
  4. Length.

There are no problems with the brand, since the whisk is not a complicated technique, where the manufacturer's brand plays an important role, but it is more difficult to choose a nozzle according to the shank and basket size.

Brand name

In this part we will be laconic for the reasons stated above. Among the brands, we highlight:

  1. BOSCH,
  2. FIOLENT,
  3. STARTUL,
  4. GEPARD,

Of course, Bosch will last longer and will not create problems in use, but the choice of the brand plays a role only for the pros who use attachments for work on a daily basis. If you make repairs with your own hands and you need a mixer occasionally, then the manufacturer's brand is not fundamental.

The importance of the parameter ★★★.

Shank type

More attention is required here, since by the type of the rim shank there are:

  1. Cylindrical,
  2. Hexagonal,
  3. SDL-Plus.

See which connector is on the hammer drill or drill and choose the type of shank from here. For Bosch hammer drills, SDL-Plus shanks are suitable, which have 4 slots - 2 open and two closed. For drills, cylindrical shanks are suitable, less often hex shanks. When choosing a hex shank, keep in mind that the diameter of the mixer will be the same as the diameter of the drill.

When buying, it is easier to tell the seller which perforator or drill you will use for kneading, and he will select a nozzle for you with the desired type of shank.

The importance of the parameter ★★★★★.

Basket height and diameter

The rim basket is usually 100-110 mm high and 80-150 mm in diameter. For a powerful hammer drill and for large mixing volumes, choose a nozzle with the maximum basket size, if you have a small drill and you do not need to mix a lot of solution, then choose the minimum basket size.

The importance of the parameter ★.

Mixer length

The mixer length ranges from 40 to 60 cm, so there is also a choice here. It is easy to choose a nozzle according to the parameter - the higher the mixing container is used, the longer the whisk should have. We recommend a length of 50-60 cm, this will be enough for mixing putty in a plastic bucket or plaster in a special box, a small stock of problems will not create problems.

Mixer 120x600 mm SDS + STARTUL is a right-handed spiral and is suitable for drills and rotary hammers with SDL-Plus connector. The recommended mixing speed is 600 rpm, the nozzle is used for all types of heavy and viscous mixtures (plaster, putty, resin, concrete, etc.).

Whisk 120x600 mm M14 GEPARD has an M14 shank with a basket height and diameter of 105/120 mm. According to the configuration, it is a right-handed spiral, the optimal speed for mixing is 600 rpm.

Both the mixer and the electric drill are far from essential items. Not everyone can afford to keep both at home. But even if you can boast of having an electric drill at home, most often it is a powerful kilowatt device that is convenient for drilling walls. But it will be difficult to drill out radio payments or repair shoes with it, right? Therefore, I had the idea to make a special attachment for the mixer, with which now you can not only cook an omelet, but also drill a hole in a hard-to-reach place.

The drill adapter is inserted into the socket of the “high speed knife” attachment. If you have a rubber joint between the mixer and the nozzle, you will have to redo that too. For the effort that he is able to transfer is not enough even for the operation of the coffee grinder. A square is best for connecting, but a hexagon is also suitable.

The drawing shows the dimensions of the details of the nozzle for the "MP-2E" mixer produced by the Minsk Electrical Equipment Plant, but due to the similarity of all mixer models, the correction will be quite insignificant. I took the cartridge from a hand drill. You should not count on drills with a diameter of more than 5 mm even when drilling wood (after all, the power of the mixer motor does not exceed 100 W), so if you can choose the chuck, you should choose the smallest possible size.

Diagram of making a drill from a mixer with your own hands

Parts 3 and 4 require manufacturing on a lathe; in the absence of a head of the required size for part 3, the groove for the hexagon will have to be milled. In the case of complete production of part 3, a slight improvement can be made, which consists in the following. To exclude an additional surface of friction between 3 and 4, make a sample for a hexagon with a slope of 5-6 degrees relative to the horizontal axis. This is necessary so that the head, sitting on the hexagon, adheres to it during advancement and is jammed by frictional forces. In this case, there will be a small gap between the head and the sleeve, which will prevent additional heating of the unit and the associated loss of power.

Part 4 can be made from any structural steel, but if you can find a piece of polyethylene of the right size, the design will benefit. If structural steel is used, a through hole should be provided in the sleeve for shaft lubrication; the polyethylene sleeve should be lubricated with grease. Typically, the chuck shaft is surface hardened and the MB thread should be easy to cut. The nozzle is assembled as follows. A sleeve is put on the chuck shaft, then the head is screwed on. The nozzle assembly is screwed to the mixer along the MLO thread.

The fact that the mixer, unlike most electric drills, has a smooth speed control, which creates additional convenience during work, also speaks in favor of using the attachment. By the way, maybe you have an old enlarger lying around? In the conditions of the victorious offensive of "Kodak" you will hardly need it, and its tripod can be adapted for a drilling machine. Especially convenient is a tripod with a toothed rack from a photographic enlarger "Upa". The adjusting handwheel feeds the drill as smoothly as on a drilling machine. If you have a low-power drill "Master", you can place it on a tripod too.

Video instruction - how to make a drill from a mixer

Hello to all DIYers and DIYers!

In my self-made creativity, I constantly have to deal with painting products with various paints, stains, varnishes, etc. In addition, the farm often has to carry out minor repairs associated with painting various surfaces (mainly wood).

As a rule, you don't need a lot of paint for this, so the most popular containers that I use are 1-2 liter cans, no more.

Naturally, before using any paint, impregnation or varnish, you need to mix thoroughly, or even add a solvent or white spirit, for a more liquid consistency.

I used to mix paint by hand, but recently I decided to make a simple mixer for this purpose from a single piece of strong steel wire.

At the same time, since paints or varnishes are mainly mixed directly in cans, the maximum diameter of the working part of such a mixer should be such that it freely passes into the narrowest can (as a rule, it is a liter can).

To make such a mixer, I needed
  • a piece of steel wire with a diameter of 3 mm and a length of about 60 cm,
  • and from the tool: a hammer with an anvil, pliers and a file with a fine notch.

Agitator manufacturing process

First, I straightened the wire with a hammer, and at the same time slightly strengthened it.

And then he started making the mixer, bending the wire from side to side with pliers.

This process took about 15 minutes, and along the way I had to make corrections several times, leveling the wire with pliers and a hammer, and, in the end, that's what I got.

This mixer had to be slightly balanced, for which I put it on the edge of the workbench, and twisting slightly with the fingers of my left hand, I watched in which position it stops.
Ideally, neither side should outweigh.

I rounded off all the ends of the wire with a file.

And the lower part is still slightly bent up so that it does not touch the bottom of the paint cans.

Thus, the mixer was ready, however, just in case, I decided to make another protective cover for the drill chuck so that during mixing it would not accidentally splash paint.
To do this, I needed a piece of the upper part of a liter plastic bottle with a lid, as well as an electric drill with a drill with a diameter of 2.7 mm, and scissors.

In the center of the lid, I drilled a 2.7 mm hole.

And put the shank of the mixer in there. The cover should slide fairly tightly over the shank.

After that, it remains only to cut out a casing of a suitable size from the top of the plastic bottle.

And screw it into the lid.

And now my mixer is ready!

Now you can squeeze it into the drill.

After that, it is imperative to slide the cover onto the drill chuck.

And now you can stir the paint.

By the way, the length of this mixer is ideal for both 1 liter and 2-2.5 liter cans.

After work, you need to clean the mixer from paint using a rag soaked in gasoline or solvent.

You can store this mixer in a hanging state, for example, hanging it like this on a carnation.

I must say that this mixer has shown itself to be quite good in work, since it mixes the paint quickly enough and at the same time efficiently.
However, such a mixer still has its limitations. Since it is not as strong and rigid, it is suitable for mixing mostly liquid paints or varnishes. Also, when using this mixer, do not use too high the rotational speed of the drill chuck, otherwise the mixer may bend.
But in principle, since I deal mainly with fairly liquid paints and varnishes, such a mixer suits me perfectly.

Well, that's all for me! Good luck to everyone, and convenient and productive work on homemade products!

A drill mixer is a great helper for any builder. Such devices have a rather powerful motor and two ergonomic handles, which are necessary in order to hold the tool while mixing mortars and mixtures. This is a convenient mechanism that combines several important functions at once.

The purpose

The construction sector of the industry does not stand still - every year new compounds appear that are used for the construction of structures, minor and major repairs. Both glue and plaster and many other materials go on sale in the form of a powder, which must be diluted with water in order to make a full-fledged composition out of it.

In order for the components of the mixture to mix as efficiently as possible and to form a homogeneous working mass, it is necessary to choose the right tool. For example, if you can mix wallpaper glue with an ordinary stick, then which method will be ineffective for cement mortars and putties, especially if you need a solution in large volumes.

Mixing building mixtures with improvised means, as a rule, does not give the desired quality of the working composition: many lumps form in it and a large percentage of dry matter remains, which could not get wet properly.

Many users resort to a hammer drill in such situations., which has the necessary rotation capability; nevertheless, experts do not recommend using this method, since the hammer drill is initially oriented to loads in a different plane without any influence of radial forces. Of course, it is possible to mix a small volume of solution with its help, but in large quantities you run the risk of simply disabling your instrument, which, by the way, is quite expensive.

An excellent solution in this situation can be the purchase of a drill-mixer, which is optimal for mixing compositions in a volume of up to 15 liters in one go.

Such devices are optimal both in everyday life and during professional repairs. Unlike the hammer drill and the usual drill, they have a stronger bearing, in addition, the mechanism is equipped with a powerful gearbox, which is protected by a particularly durable metal case. Thanks to this configuration the device can work even at the lowest rpm.

An important plus is the fact that such construction mixer can simultaneously perform the function of surface drilling, that is, in fact, it is a 2-in-1 device.

Types of structures and their characteristics

The drill mixer is used for large-scale repair work; the user usually holds it in his hands when mixing the solution, because the device has ergonomic handles that make the operation of the tool less time consuming. If the motor of the device has a power of more than 1 kW, then a special gearbox is built into it: it is suitable for use not only at the very first speed, but also when changing from the first to the second.

The first is used for the preparation of thick dense mixtures, for example, mastic, and the second - for gypsum and cement. Stirring paints and varnishes and other liquid substances with a minimum torque is also permissible at second speed.

In order to make the work more comfortable, it is better to use tools that are supplemented with a speed stabilizer or starting current limiters.

Such drills, as a rule, have different configurations. Usually they come with several types of attachments, which can have several shapes.

  • Right-hand spiral mixing nozzle- used for such solutions that have a very viscous structure. These include cement, concrete, as well as all sorts of plasters and glue. Such a nozzle mixes the solution, as if pushing it upwards, mixes the composition at the top, and then drops back.
  • Left-hand spiral nozzle optimal for mixing paints and varnishes. Here the principle of operation is reversed: the mixture is pushed from top to bottom, where it is stirred and rises back.
  • Screw nozzles allow mixing light compositions.
  • Crosspiece- a more specialized nozzle, it is used in cases where it is very important to prevent air from entering the container with the mixture.

Advantages and disadvantages

The main advantage of the drill mixer is its multifunctional use. On the one hand, the tool is classified as a drill, therefore, in addition to mixing mortars, it can be used to form holes in surfaces of various types, even the hardest and most dense ones. On the other hand, a drill of this type belongs to the category of low-speed ones, therefore it cannot replace a drill by 100%, but at the same time, it is precisely low speeds that make it possible to mix even the most dense compositions.

Obviously, such a structure cannot be used in industrial volumes, its power and design features will not be enough to cope with an intensive mode of operation. But with the solution of small household tasks for minor repairs and decoration of an apartment or a private house, she will cope in full.

Such a drill weighs much more than an ordinary one: its weight is more than 3 kg, therefore, frequent drilling with such a unit is associated with significant physical efforts.

Principle of operation and features of use

Depending on the principle of operation, there are three types of tools:

  • drill mixer;
  • drill mixer with one whisk;
  • device with two rims.

A conventional electric drill mixer is a low-speed, impact-free type. The power of this tool ranges from 500 to 2000 W, there are 2 comfortable handles, a fairly large cartridge with a diameter of up to 16 mm.

Two-hand models are divided into options with a single rim or with two, the difference follows from the name: mechanisms with two rims stir even the most viscous mixture, they are equipped with a rather powerful gearbox and easily cope with solutions of various consistencies - from light to concrete.

Model rating

Drill mixers of the following brands are the most popular among consumers.

  • Fiolent Is a Russian-made product that is optimal for mixing the most thick and viscous compositions. The power of the device is 1100 W, and the speed is 600 rpm.
  • Rebir- the most popular low-speed drills are produced under this brand. Selected models from this manufacturer have exceptional performance characteristics: power up to 2000 W and rotation speed up to 500 rpm.

  • Interskol- offers a wide range of drill-mixers, the power of which reaches 1050 watts. Such a tool is optimal for mixing any building mixtures, even concrete, and also for drilling: for example, if you put a special drill for wood in it, you can get a hole up to 1 m long in a matter of seconds.
  • ZUBR Is one of the most demanded brands on the domestic market. The models presented in the range of this manufacturer have exceptional power parameters - up to 1200 W - and rotation speed (up to 850 rpm).
  • Makita Is a well-known Japanese brand that is in demand all over the world due to its quality and reliability. It is noteworthy that all models of this brand, in addition to excellent technical characteristics, are also distinguished by practicality, because they consume much less energy than competitors.

How to choose?

  • product weight - in the range of 2.7-4.5 kg;
  • power - 620-110 W;
  • rotation speed - up to 1050 rpm;
  • torque - 70 N / m.

In addition, when choosing a suitable model, pay attention to additional functions that may be useful to you: smooth start, automatic turn-on mode, additional housing insulation, overheating protection and others.

How to do it yourself?

If you wish, you can make a construction mixer with your own hands. For this, you need to use the most common drill as a drive, and any product with a hex shank is suitable as a nozzle. Such a device is quite easily fixed in the drill chuck, the main thing is that the dimensions of this hexagon correspond to the minimum chamber size that can be placed in the chuck.

However, keep in mind that the motors and gearbox of a standard mixer are designed exclusively for a longitudinal surface, therefore, using such a homemade tool, only very small portions of the mortar can be mixed.

In the next video, you will find the basic features of drill mixers.
