Walls in the nursery with liquid wallpaper. Using liquid wallpaper to decorate a children's room

Starting the renovation of a children's room, planning the interior and choosing finishing materials, it is necessary to take into account many nuances in order to get a multifunctional room for a child. Among the main points that must always be kept in mind when working out the interior of the nursery is the presence of colors suitable for the child, and the decoration of the room with environmentally friendly, harmless materials.

One of such materials, which may well be the main one for decorating the walls of a children's room, is liquid wallpaper. This material is modern, practical and safe, which is why we want to tell you more about it in terms of use in the nursery.

Using the zoning of the room in the children's room

A few words about the material

Liquid wallpaper, the name is very extraordinary, resulting from a detailed examination of the finishing material, which has absorbed the best features of many other products, or rather:

  • The main ingredient of safe paper wallpaper is cellulose, which is the base filler for liquid wallpaper.
  • Ease of work from decorative plaster, as well as similar methods of application to the wall.
  • Uniformity and gloss inherent in wall paints and varnishes.

Liquid wallpaper looks like a powder that looks like sawdust or dust, many small granules in a plastic bag, which will need to be diluted with water for work.

Liquid wallpaper compares favorably with decorative plaster, although it is the next evolutionary link in this material. Unlike plaster, albeit decorative, there is no sand in liquid wallpaper, their main filler is cellulose or silk.

Liquid wallpaper can be used tastefully

In the manufacture of this finishing material, no harmful substances are used, it is safe and environmentally friendly, therefore it can be used in a children's room without any fear. Many builders are already actively using liquid wallpaper, hallways, and other rooms. In addition, the strength and durability of such a finish will withstand long-term operation in the harshest conditions.

Currently, you can choose one of the main types of liquid wallpaper for your nursery:

  • Cellulose - these wallpapers are made of cellulose with the addition of various adhesive and decorative components. The service life is average, the quality and appearance are excellent.
  • Silk - liquid wallpaper, in which cellulose is replaced by silk fibers to enhance the technical characteristics. This kind of material is more durable, strong, has the longest service life among all types of liquid wallpaper, and looks very pretty.
  • Silk-cellulose wallpapers are a transitional link between silk and cellulose wallpapers. Such material wins in cost over silk, and in quality characteristics over cellulose liquid wallpaper.

Contrasting interior of a small room

In hardware stores, you can also choose any color. If you do not find a suitable color among the presented ready-made solutions, you can always create it using a color scheme. Liquid wallpaper is tinted in the same way as paint, with special coloring pigments. These colors are harmless and environmentally friendly, but you need to understand what colors are obtained when mixed with colored powder.

Application

Created from safe components, liquid wallpaper may well take its place on the walls of a child's room. In this case, the walls will become pleasant to the touch, slightly rough, one might even say velvety. Children like this surface, they love to pick it, paint on it.

However, do not rush to get scared, liquid wallpaper on the surface of the walls can be easily repaired, it is enough to apply another layer of material to them, and they look like new. If additional thickness is not needed, you can always remove the excess material with an ordinary spatula.

With this approach, you will absolutely not be afraid for the walls and for the child, let the baby show his artistic abilities to his fullest, the traces of which, unlike paper wallpaper, we can easily remove from liquid wallpaper.

Note that when applying liquid wallpaper to the walls, you can plan and place a drawing on them that will look very impressive, like a direct part of the room. Any parents, even those who have nothing to do with drawing, can make a drawing on the wall in the nursery, you just need to correctly transfer the stencil, observing the dimensions, and in the process of applying a decorative layer, maintain color sequences.

Popular characters on the walls in the children's room

Another positive factor that captivates parents when choosing this particular finishing material for the walls of the nursery is the ability of liquid wallpaper to additionally isolate the room from sounds and cold. In such a room, it will be easy to create an ideal microclimate, since cellulose easily allows air to pass through, but retains heat, and dampens the sound altogether.

Depending on the type of liquid wallpaper, they can be subjected to both dry and wet cleaning. The first liquid wallpaper did not tolerate moisture well and was not as practical as modern ones, which manufacturers impregnate with a special water-repellent compound. As you understand, for the nursery, it is better for us to choose a more moisture-resistant coating in order to calmly carry out regular wet cleaning in this room.

Well-equipped children's room

Colour

When choosing the option of finishing with liquid wallpaper for a child's room, it is important to choose the right color for the child. As we already wrote above, it is not difficult to do this from the technical point of view, but it will be more difficult to determine by psychological parameters what color is needed.

First of all, it is worth considering that the repair is being done for a long time, which means that the color of the walls should not irritate the baby, but, on the contrary, bring positive emotions, soothe. In the version with liquid wallpaper, if you are thinking of making a drawing on the wall, try to come up with an interesting, funny one so that it can successfully become a part of the room.

Light colors on the walls in the nursery

Light colors will always be preferable to dark ones in a children's room, while for calm children, you can combine warm shades with bright colors, and for fidgets, choose colder colors and faded ornaments. All shades of pastel colors have a beneficial effect on children, creating a calm atmosphere in which to relax, play, sleep, and study. Bright colors can be used in the play area, but the zoning in the room must be very clear.

If your child is already able to express his opinion, you can partly listen to him, at least in choosing a color or shade for the baby's room.

When buying liquid wallpaper, do not forget to ask the seller about the availability of product certificates, so as not to come across material made by a handicraft method. Yes, even in our time it is quite possible, given the fact that even you yourself can.

The choice of liquid wallpaper for decorating a nursery is quite justified, since this excellent modern material has high practical and decorative characteristics.

Decorating a children's room is an unusually responsible activity that can be compared to creating a whole world. The fact is that this room becomes for the child a place where he begins to learn about the world around him, where he plays, draws, learns and keeps his little children's secrets.

Here he works and rests, has fun and is sad, here he experiences a lot of emotions. This is the child's personal space, which will remain in his memory for the rest of his life. That is why, before going to the store, you need to think 100 times which wallpaper is better for the nursery, and it is often recommended to think with the child.

What wallpaper to glue in the nursery?

Sometimes it is extremely difficult to navigate the bottomless and boundless ocean of modern finishing materials, but a clear understanding of what exactly should be used for finishing can help. When choosing which wallpaper to glue in the nursery, you need to use one simple rule - the canvases should be harmless to the child. Therefore, the range of choice of finishes is significantly narrowed, since it is already necessary to consider only environmentally friendly materials.

A simple paper base will probably be one of the best options for this room. Most paper-based materials do not have synthetic additives or any kind of chemistry. And their main drawback is fragility, you can use it to your advantage. It's no secret that children love to use walls as canvases for their art, and many psychologists argue that it is not worth limiting them in such art. And let them paint! After all, in the end, the scraps overworked from art can be easily and painlessly replaced. The most successful option here will be two-level canvases. From the floor to a third of the height of the walls, the so-called expendable part is glued, higher - the main, more interesting one. In this case, a regular border strip will help to smooth the joints.

Is it possible to use liquid wallpaper in a nursery (photo)

Also, a very practical solution will be the so-called liquid wallpaper, which is a high-quality and environmentally friendly decor made from natural materials. This coating is quite soft and slightly rough to the touch, it can be cleaned and stained several times. The damaged section of the wall can be easily restored by applying a layer of fresh material.

The porous structure of liquid wallpaper provides the room with a good level of sound and heat insulation, while allowing the walls to breathe. All this helps to maintain an optimal microclimate inside the room. And the variety of possible appearance will not leave indifferent even the most fastidious buyer. Hundreds of colors, textures and patterns - all this makes it possible to arrange a nursery in any style. Take a look at how cool liquid wallpaper fits into the children's room in the photo below:

Wall murals in the children's room

Separately, it is worth highlighting photographic children's wallpapers in the interior, but not just any, but only anti-vandal. The fact is that such a material is not so cheap, and its annual replacement can seriously hit the family budget, so you need to take care of its safety by choosing models with an anti-vandal coating. Such a coating protects the decorative layer from paint, grease, any stains, plasticine, etc. Any dirt on the walls can be removed with normal cleaning agents.

The composition depicted on the canvases can be completely different. There is a wide choice here, and this allows you to arrange a room for a child of any age and gender with equal success. So, for example, such wallpapers in a nursery for a boy can depict dinosaurs, and for a girl - some kind of fairy-tale castle.

Well, the last materials that I would like to mention are bamboo and cork. Being an environmentally friendly product, canvases made of these materials not only do not carry any potential danger to the health of the child, but vice versa - they help to maintain the optimal level of humidity in the room, thereby creating a truly healing atmosphere. Bamboo and cork are durable, wear-resistant, do not collect dust and have a rather original appearance, somewhat reminiscent of a real jungle. Well, what child does not dream of visiting the jungle? Take a look at what the walls look like if you pick up similar wallpapers in the nursery in the photo:

How to choose the color of wallpaper in the children's room?

The color of the wallpaper in the children's room plays an important role, as, indeed, in any other room. But here its significance is even more significant, since the child spends most of his time in the nursery, and if suddenly the interior irritates him with something, this will negatively affect both his mood and general development. Therefore, it is better to immediately refrain from choosing flashy colors, or at least dilute them with more neutral shades.

Ideal color solutions would be beige, light blue, light green, milky, etc. Wallpaper in the nursery for a girl can be selected a little brighter, but still delicate, for example, light pink. Such shades will not only not strain the psyche of the child, but will also contribute to the visual expansion of the space. This will be especially useful if the room is cramped, or not enough light enters it. You can look at the well-chosen wallpaper for the nursery in the photo:

How to use pink wallpaper in the nursery

In general, pink wallpaper for the nursery needs to be selected very carefully, because if you make a mistake by only half a tone, you can ruin the whole interior. Pink should not be too bright, it should give off notes of tenderness and tranquility. If necessary, it is diluted with some kind of pattern, for example, a floral one. In this case, flowers can be selected both to match the main color scheme of the room, and in contrasting shades.

In fact, the same can be said about the blue wallpaper in the nursery. The same rules apply here. Here are just a drawing in the case of this color, as a rule, not a floral one, but some kind of marine, automobile or something like that is selected. After all, this color is most often selected for a boy's room.

As for the choice of pattern, then everything is quite simple. There are simply no thematic restrictions. The theme of the pattern should ideally be selected based on the hobbies of the child himself. For example, if a child loves stories about pirates, then the design is made in this spirit. On the walls in this case, ships can be depicted, or sea waves. And if the child prefers knights, then the canvases can be decorated both by the knights themselves, and, for example, by their attributes, or by fairy-tale castles.

Of course, the entire previous paragraph referred only to those cases when the child is already beginning to show interest in a particular topic. If he is very small, then he has to decide for him. In this case, you should choose something standard, for example, a pattern in the form of a starry sky, or a floral pattern.

Using striped wallpaper in the nursery

Attention should also be paid to the stripes. Striped wallpaper in a nursery, as in any other room, can create amazing visual effects. So, a vertically directed strip will help solve the problem with low ceilings by visually raising them a little higher. And the horizontal strip will perfectly cope with the task of visual lengthening of the walls. In this case, it is not at all necessary to use a plain strip. They can be quite successfully combined by combining several colors at once on one wall.

Combining wallpaper in the nursery (photo)

Often, the combination of wallpaper in the nursery looks very good, when several types of canvases are glued to the walls at the same time. So, in the case of the same strip, the bottom of the walls can be pasted over with monotonous wallpaper with or without a small pattern, and canvases with a vertical strip can be placed in the middle and top of the wall. This design technique is very popular, and despite the fact that such combinations have been used for more than one year, they still look interesting and original. How such a combination of wallpaper in the nursery looks like in the photo can be seen below:

The right combination of wallpaper in the nursery

You can combine the canvases in other variations. The most common are tandems of wallpapers of different tones, different patterns, as well as with or without a pattern. They all have the right to life, and each of them carries its own advantages. So, using several colors in the interior of a room at once, you can easily diversify the design, make it brighter. The combination of different patterns allows, for example, to set off the effect of a large pattern by using a smaller pattern on adjacent walls. Well, the option with the intermediate use of the pattern makes it possible to focus on any individual design elements or areas of the room. We hope that after these explanations and viewing several photos, you will not have the question of how to combine wallpaper in the nursery.

In addition, the walls must necessarily fit the room visually, that is, the effects they create should not negatively affect the visual perception of the room. In general, that's all. Thank you for your attention, and good luck with decorating the children's room!

Children's room is a child's personal space. This is the place where he spends most of his time, so it is not so easy to finish in such a room. It is very important to choose the right wallpaper for the children's room in order to create the most comfortable conditions for its growth and development.

Choosing the right interior design for a baby's space is not an easy task in itself, and besides, today there are too many different types of such finishes, and each collection is beautiful in its own way. At the same time, properly selected wallpapers can visually expand or narrow the space, and a successful combination of two types of canvases makes it possible to divide the interior into separate zones. This contributes to the creation of a comfortable environment and an atmosphere of coziness in the nursery.

The aesthetically appealing finish influences the formation of the psychological environment in the baby's room. Psychologists say that the color, as well as the texture of the wallpaper, can become one of the effective tools for raising a child, developing his imagination and logical thinking.

The psychological environment for a teenager is no less important. Buying wallpaper for a teen's room can help parents better understand their child, determine their taste preferences, as well as life orientations of the teenager.

Criterias of choice

Many parents are wondering which wallpaper options are best for a children's room, and which ones should not be paid attention to. The interior design of a nursery requires special attention to such wallpaper parameters as in the following table.

Professional designers with extensive experience say that there are many points that you should definitely take into account when decorating the interior of a children's room. In this case, it will be easy to choose a successful finish, and the finished interior will delight both the eyes and the soul of the baby.

Material selection

Today, there are so many different children's wallpaper collections on the shelves of hardware stores that it is impossible to immediately decide which collection is optimal and will fit into the design of a teenage bedroom or a schoolchild's room. At first, it seems that there is nothing difficult in choosing a design for a nursery. But the choice of wallpaper is very diverse, and making the right decision, having decided which collection is the most suitable, is not easy.

When choosing finishes for a room where children of any age and gender live, experienced designers advise choosing only safe types of wallpaper for the walls. The main selection criterion in this aspect must certainly be the ecological purity and harmlessness of the material from which the collection is made. Today you can find many types of wall paintings, but not all of them are equally good.

Paper wallpaper

The most optimal option from an environmental point of view is ordinary paper-based wall-paper for children. According to their composition, they do not contain synthetic additives, harmful substances, and do not have a pungent odor. To make sure of the quality of the selected roll, pay attention to the presence of a special certificate for the product. Reliable manufacturers always supply products with such a document, regardless of whether it is a collection or a separate type of wallpaper.

Of course, you need to understand that paper canvases are rather short-lived. Also note that they are highly soiled and cannot be wiped clean with a brush or damp sponge. Although, perhaps, in such a room, the wallpaper should be changed at each stage of the child's growing up, so these paper shortcomings are not so significant. Look at the following photo of the interior of the nursery, where the walls are decorated with paper wallpaper in two colors.

The damaged canvas can be quickly re-glued. So many experienced parents use a combination of two types of wallpaper in the nursery, the photo below will demonstrate this technique. The canvases need to be glued to the wall as follows: plain walls on the bottom, and printed ones on top (with dinosaurs for a brave boy or flowers for a young girl). Options of two types are very convenient to quickly replace the lower part when significant dirt, patterns, stains appear on the canvas.

The liquid wallpaper

Liquid wallpaper is considered a more practical type of wallpaper for children, characterized by high quality and environmental friendliness, because it is made from natural materials. The photo below demonstrates what interiors are obtained using liquid wallpaper.

Walls with finishes such as liquid wallpaper are soft and rough to the touch. Liquid canvases can be cleaned and repainted more than once, and if a significant defect has formed on any part of the wall, which cannot be cleaned, it can be restored by applying fresh material. If you have chosen liquid wallpaper, the joints will not be visible on them.

Liquid wallpaper provides excellent sound and thermal insulation for the room for children, but at the same time it does not interfere with the walls "breathing". This design is distinguished by a long service life, the absence of toxic substances in its composition and a low fire hazard. In addition, it should be noted that liquid wallpaper has a microporous structure. Before choosing the color of liquid wallpaper in the children's room, we advise you to look at a photo of examples. This will give you the opportunity to understand how beautiful liquid wallpaper looks and how it fits into the design of the room.

Cork, bamboo canvases

The design of the nursery with the use of a similar decoration on the walls is characterized by environmental friendliness and high aesthetics. Calm tones and natural shades of these types of wallpapers allow you to create a comfortable aura for babies in the room, as well as a peaceful atmosphere. In addition, it should be noted that this design has high wear resistance, because it is not afraid of either mechanical stress or dirt.

The cork and bamboo options shown in the photo are considered environmentally friendly, and will also help maintain optimal humidity levels in the nursery. In addition, this type of wallpaper does not accumulate dust and looks quite original.

Color solution

Psychologists have long come to the conclusion that the color scheme determines the psycho-emotional state of the child. This also applies to the interior decoration of the wallpaper in the children's room, as well as in the teenage bedroom.

We suggest considering a few of the most common options for a children's or teenage bedroom:

  • Soft shades of yellow and brown will look great in both a little girl's room and a teenage boy's room. They allow you to visually expand the space. Moreover, in the first version, it is better to prefer such tones in combination with gold, and in the second - with dark blue or green;
  • shades of pink and lilac are more relevant for a teenage girl's bedroom. They work well with gray and light blue tones. The 3D collection looks very attractive in this color scheme with butterflies or floral patterns. A similar design is suitable for a romantic and dreamy person of a young age;
  • shades of blue or green are more suitable for boys. They are laconic and allow you to create a calm, welcoming atmosphere. Pay attention to the photo, which shows the interior in a marine theme. Also, an interesting option can be the use of wallpaper with dinosaurs for a child's boy;
  • shades of red or orange are suitable for children of two genders, but they should be used in moderation. These are vibrant colors, the abundance of which can increase a child's excitability. The only exception is a teenager's room, where the use of liquid wallpaper of a bright color is quite acceptable. But what wallpaper should you choose for a teen's room? In this case, the combination of canvases of two colors - bright and calm;
  • it is impractical and too uninteresting to use only white wallpaper on all walls in the children's room. The photo below demonstrates a successful combination of such canvases with striped rolls of pastel colors. Such an interior looks fresh, not boring. A collection of wallpapers in too dark and gloomy colors for babies is not relevant.

Wall decoration taking into account the age of the child

Experienced designers say that you need to choose wallpaper for a child's room taking into account the age of the child. After all, he is growing, developing, which means that the world that surrounds him must change. Each period of your child's life should take place in its own scenery. But there are universal collections that can be used for both the student's room and the teenage bedroom. There are also age-specific collections. Such canvases need to be selected especially for the age of your baby, because designs with Winnie the Pooh or Kolobok are unlikely to be appropriate in a room for a teenager.

In the first two years of a child's life, any cheerful design can suit him. Buy delicate rolls with butterflies for a girl, and with dinosaurs for a boy. Canvases with large drawings, as shown in the photo, are considered an excellent option. The kid will be interested in looking at the details of the image on the wallpaper with butterflies or cartoon characters.

For a preschool child, it is worth giving preference to drawn children's wallpaper, the photo below shows such an interior. At this age, the kid has a favorite cartoon character, and it is they who can decorate the walls in the nursery.

It's also good to opt for 3D wallpaper. The interior of a children's room for a teenager with this design looks very unusual. The 3D effect interests the child and fascinates him, and it is also good in a teenage bedroom. You can play with color or combine rolls of two or more types, not forgetting about spectacular 3D options. However, it is better to refuse photo wallpapers with cartoon characters or dinosaurs.

For wall decoration, you can use both traditional materials and completely new ones, such as liquid wallpaper, which combine all the best from such wall decoration materials as: decorative plaster, paper wallpaper, paint and varnish coatings. Visually, liquid wallpaper resembles an ordinary paper free-flowing mixture, which is diluted with water and applied to the walls.

Types of liquid wallpaper

As soon as liquid wallpaper appeared on the market, they were confused with decorative plaster, but unlike it, the composition of the wallpaper does not include sand, as well as a number of other components. Liquid wallpaper is environmentally friendly and therefore can be used in children's rooms. To date, the following types of this material are distinguished:

  • Silk - they are based on silk fiber, and compared to other types, they are more resistant, durable, and retain their original appearance as long as possible.
  • Cellulose - they are based on cellulose, their appearance and service life are much lower than that of silk ones.
  • Silk-cellulose - have a low cost and are inferior to silk counterparts in appearance and durability.

In the interior of the children's room

Since liquid wallpaper contains only natural additives, they are allowed to be used in children's rooms. This material is slightly velvety and rough to the touch. Even if the material is damaged during operation, it is easy to recover. Many parents, according to them, have to deal with wall art, paint stains and spilled juice that cannot be removed from the paper surface without damaging the material. With liquid wallpaper, the situation is completely different, since a damaged or spoiled area can be easily replaced.

The popularity of the use of liquid wallpaper in the nursery is explained by other equally important factors. This material is an excellent heat and sound insulator, has the ability to "breathe", thereby creating an ideal microclimate in the child's room.

How to care

Liquid wallpaper involves only dry cleaning (with the exception of coatings with a water-repellent varnish), which implies the use of a vacuum cleaner. This household device can easily remove dust and some dirt from both smooth and embossed surfaces.

Well, if the wallpaper in the nursery is damaged, then you can carry out the restoration, for which:

  1. The contaminated area is moistened with water and then removed with a spatula;
  2. A new layer of material is applied to the cleaned area.

In the program "School of Repair" of the TNT channel and "This is my room" of the Disney channel, liquid wallpaper is often used for decorating children's rooms. We decided to find out why this material is so good, what drawbacks it has, and what design ideas you can implement with it.

What you need to know about liquid wallpaper?

What is liquid wallpaper? Liquid wallpaper (silk plaster) consists of cellulose, silk fibers, dyes, adhesive binder, plasticizer, as well as decorative additives such as glitter or mineral chips. In dry form, the material resembles a mixture of cotton wool, and when wet, it resembles a sculpting mass. However, on the wall / ceiling, the coating of liquid wallpaper is similar to ordinary wallpaper, and to decorative plaster, and to painting at the same time.

Pros of liquid wallpaper: It is almost an ideal material for decorating walls and ceilings in a nursery. After all, they:

  • Eco-friendly and safe. If your baby is allergic, asthmatic or has any respiratory diseases, then liquid wallpaper will be an excellent choice.
  • Amenable to local repair. When your child arranges car races on the walls or paints them with felt-tip pens, you can remove the damaged area and finish it again. Small damages can be simply moistened and leveled with a spatula.
  • You can make a nice wall composition from liquid wallpaper of different colors. Moreover, the drawing can even be voluminous (pictured).

The material is sold in a variety of colors and, if desired, you can add glitter to the mixture yourself. A silk plaster pattern can be formed both schematic and complex and multi-colored. Below is an interior with a wall imitating a football field. Its background and even the white markings are made of silk plaster from SilkPlaster.

  • Moisture and breathable. This means that the likelihood of mold and mildew due to high humidity, for example, due to fogging windows, will be very small. Liquid wallpaper is especially relevant for decorating rooms in which mold has ever appeared, with a lack of warmth and high importance, for nurseries in panel houses or rooms located on the attic floor.
  • Do not attract dust.

Also, liquid wallpaper has such advantages as:

  • Lack of seams;
  • Long service life (over 10 years);
  • Ability to compensate for small differences and fill cracks;
  • Color fastness in the sun (due to the dyeing of the fibers in the mass);
  • Due to their elasticity, they do not crack when shrinking at home;
  • Even a beginner without painting skills can decorate the walls with liquid wallpaper;
  • Finishing work with this material is carried out cleanly and odorless.

Cons: Unfortunately, liquid wallpaper also has disadvantages.

  • Silk plaster can only be dry cleaned, eg with a vacuum cleaner.
  • Unfortunately, it cannot be said that large-sized patches remain completely invisible.
  • Liquid wallpaper with the wrong application technology can become covered with yellow spots and stains. The fact is that due to their water base, they tend to react to the remnants of glue, paint, nails, fittings in the wall.

To avoid such surprises, you must: 1. Remove the remnants of the old finish. 2. Putty the walls and wait until the putty is dry. 3. Prime the wall with a deep (!) Penetration primer, best of all with a special composition "Vodostop" from Silk Plaster or CERESIT CT-17 in 2-3 layers. Each layer should be allowed to dry for about 3 hours. 4. When the primer is dry, you need to paint the wall with white water-dispersion paint, also in 2-3 layers. 5. After the paint has dried, you can start applying liquid wallpaper. It is better to do this with a plastic rather than a metal spatula to avoid oxidation of the composition.

  • Anyone can handle the application of silk plaster, but still the process is not so simple. Firstly, as already mentioned, the walls need to be properly prepared, and secondly, you will have to tinker a lot before you can apply and distribute the mass evenly. Therefore, the first steps should be taken in not very noticeable places, for example, behind the door or where there will be a closet.
  • Unfortunately, many reviews say that if a cat lives in the house, then it is better to refuse liquid wallpaper. Pets are too fond of sharpening their claws on the covering and climbing the walls to the very ceiling.

What wallpaper designs are there? In the store, you can choose material from more than 100 different shades, while it can be:

  • Monochrome, multicolor, grainy (interspersed with decorative additives);
  • Smooth, coarse or shallow relief.

Application: Liquid wallpaper is applied according to the principle of plaster. The mixture is diluted with warm clean water, then evenly spread over the surface with a trowel. The work process is so safe and simple that even the owner can take part in the repair of the nursery.

Prices: 500-2000 rubles. rub. for 1 package of the mixture, depending on the manufacturer, the amount of silk fibers in the composition and decorative additives. One package is enough for 3-4 sq. m.

Producers: In Russia, the most popular liquid wallpaper is from the domestic manufacturer SilkPlaster. You can also find material of similar quality from the Turkish company Bayramyx (Silkcoat and Koza collections) and Chinese-made wallpaper. More expensive silk and cotton plaster is offered by the French brands RMD and Senideco.

As practice shows, the consumption of liquid wallpaper turns out to be slightly higher than the manufacturer claims (1 bag per 3-4 sq. M.). Therefore, it is better to buy material with a margin. You can save the remaining excess and use it as needed for minor wall repairs.

Tip 2. Liquid wallpaper looks most beautiful in combination with other textures

The interior of the nursery will look much more interesting if not all walls are finished with liquid wallpaper, but only one or two. The rest of the surfaces can be simply painted, pasted over with ordinary wallpaper, fresco, decorative plaster or brick. In the next photo slider, you can consider the design of a nursery with walls decorated with roll and liquid wallpaper, as well as a cork.

Tip 3. To increase the moisture resistance and anti-vandal properties of silk plaster, cover it with a matte varnish

If you cover silk plaster with matte varnish, the coating will become moisture resistant. Do not worry that the varnish will cause the liquid wallpaper to lose its ability to be restored locally. Just soaking the damaged area will take a little longer.

Tip 4. Keep in mind that the longer you stir the mixture, the less embossed the coating will be.

If you want the finish to retain its rich texture, don't go overboard with mixing. On the other hand, if you want the finish to be more even and paint-like, then the mixture can be mixed boldly and thoroughly.

Now we propose to take a look at a selection of photos of the interiors of children's rooms, in the decoration of which silk plaster was used.

Let's start with the classic interiors. Below are photos of the girl's bedroom, in which yellow liquid wallpaper is combined with painting and imitation of brickwork.

Another interior of the children's room of a one and a half year old girl, decorated with yellow silk plaster.

Teenage girls live in this room. Olive liquid wallpaper was used to decorate the accent wall, TV framing and ceiling overhang above the beds. By the way, the SilkPlaster company has released a whole collection of silk plaster in natural shades, which is called "Provence".

The last girly interior in our photo collection, but already modern and bright. Two walls in this room are decorated with graphic lines in black and white silk plaster.

Now let's look at examples of how liquid wallpaper can be used in the design of boys' rooms. In this photo slider you can see the interior of the boy's bedroom, decorated based on the cartoon "Cars". Here, a composition in the form of a print of racing checkers was created from silk plaster in black and white.
