Bedroom transformer for small ones. Transformers in our house

As the owner of a small-sized apartment, I always take a special interest in various types of folding furniture. I especially like multifunctional transformers, for example, beds that turn into wardrobes, sofas into desks and other similar things. It's nice that designers think about us (or do they think globally - about overpopulation?) And create such pieces of furniture that will help "with a flick of the hand" in one minute transform our 10 sq.m. bedroom into a living room or study.

Today I want to show the most interesting examples of folding furniture. Most of the presented transforming beds you can buy in the TRANSMEB store, in Moscow. Let's see photos as ideas for inspiration. Perhaps some of them will be of interest to our men who collect furniture with their own hands.

Transformer: from bed to wardrobe

Let's start with the lifesaver of one-room apartments - a lifting bed. This type of furniture is well known in our country. The lifting mechanism allows you to press the bed against the wall, freeing up a free passage. There are many models of such devices, the models look most interesting when the bed (in the assembled state) visually merges with the situation, for example, as in this photo of a teenage boy's room it turns into a wardrobe.

Here is another example of a transforming bed, clearly cheaper. Suitable for a schoolchild's or student's room in a minimalist style.

By the way, there are quite interesting ideas among the folding single beds - for example, this one is rather cleverly camouflaged under a closed shelf or chest of drawers.

I really like transforming beds for small children's rooms. See what a beautiful and practical option for one child is in this photo.

And in this photo we see a bunk bed transformer, a wonderful invention for small apartments. There is a shelf for linen on top.

This room interior with a pull-up double bed for adults looks very stylish. It seems there is even too much free space here, I wonder what caused the need to take just such a bed? This is most likely a studio apartment.

In foreign sources, there is an alternative version of the lifting bed. The bed does not retract to the wall, but on special guides, like in an elevator, it rises above your head. For small, narrow rooms, the idea is just great! It remains to be hoped that this design is also reliable.

Transformer: bed-desk

An interesting idea for children's and teenage rooms is a bed combined with a workplace. However, some samples are also suitable for adults, for example, such as the one in the photo below:

There are several design options for such models, remember the yellow bed in the very first photo? Its mechanism moves the desktop upward rather than downward. And this is how she looks after transformation, enlivening the interior with rich pink.

Of course, there are rollaway beds of a similar design and double sizes.

Transformer: sofa bed

There are transformers that combine a bed and a sofa. It seems that there is nothing unusual here - most of the sofas can be folded out, providing a sleeping place. In general, I agree, although when the sofa is disassembled into a bunk bed, it is impressive.

The rest of the transformers, from those that I came across, are more banal and follow the same idea in design as the "bed-desk". And yet it seems to me that for our small rooms it is better not to invent things, but to buy a normal folding sofa. It will definitely cost less than such an invention!

Useful transformers for small apartments

Tired of beds? Me too ... But I also wanted to tell you about other types of similar furniture. I'll try to be shorter. When I wrote on the topic, I gave several options for folding tables. There are many noteworthy ideas in this area, but for today I will confine myself to two examples.

I really liked this idea of a sliding table (I found it a long time ago, on the blog of an overseas young lady), but I never figured out how it works. Why a facade is used instead of a leg (everything seems to be in place) and how such a long table fit into a cabinet 60 cm deep remains a mystery to me. I would be grateful if someone could reveal this secret for me.

I would like to mention another wonderful design invention for small living rooms. This is a combination in one design of a coffee table and a dining table. I myself have been looking at this for a long time, only the price, in my opinion, in our stores for them is too high. Although there are quite decent options in online stores, for example, at prices 2-3 times lower than in ordinary stores.

If the square of the room does not allow you to be content with luxurious large-sized furniture for sleeping, then a transformer bed is ready to come to the rescue. Due to its compactness, practicality, folding mechanism, a transformer bed for a small apartment allows you to save space, make the room brighter and more neat. With a slight movement of the hand, using a simple mechanism, the sleeping place turns into another piece of furniture, for example, a chest of drawers, a wardrobe, a sofa, a wall or a desk. At the same time, space is freed up and a free space appears for storing toys, clothes, books, equipment.

Advantages and disadvantages

Whether it's a bed, a sofa or a crib, like any furniture, transforming models have numerous advantages, for which connoisseurs of rationality fell in love, because small apartments are in dire need of the correct use of every centimeter. So, the advantages of transformer beds include indicators:

  • a crib and a transformer playpen can be transformed into a chest of drawers, a desk, a play area - this helps to create additional space for storing things and games;
  • simple mechanism, it will not take more than a minute to fold and disassemble the sleeping bed. Convenience is provided by a mechanism presented in the form of springs, belts, an electric drive and accessories;
  • a variety of sizes, which allows you to choose the right model for both a child and an adult;
  • saving useful space, because when assembled, the transformer is cabinet furniture, and when unfolded it transforms into a sleeping place equipped with an orthopedic mattress;
  • affordable cost, any family with an average income can afford a transformer;
  • possibility of location in corner areas.

Such transformer designs are used in cases where it is not possible to arrange a separate full bedroom or for studio apartments that do not differ in a large area.

But do not forget about the shortcomings and possible problems that the owners of transforming furniture will have to face:

  • due to the constant unfolding, the bed wears out quickly. The lifting mechanism suffers most quickly because of this, due to improper use it can quickly fail. It is important to pay attention to the quality of purchased furniture, manufacturer and materials;
  • High cost, since such designs cost a lot of money;
  • This model is not suitable for older people, since the constant assembly and disassembly of such a bed quickly tires;
  • To install the transformer bed, you will need an unoccupied capital wall, since only it can withstand heavy loads.

Varieties

Conventionally, all types of beds with a folding and folding mechanism can be divided into several types:

  • a sofa that, when unfolded, turns into a full-fledged comfortable sleeping bed, this is the most common option. The sofa is affordable and easy to use;
  • vertical or horizontal reclining structures, presented in the form of beds of wardrobes, tables, chests of drawers, walls and other interior items. It can also be a sofa;
  • swing-out - innovative and most expensive models that allow the most productive use of living space;
  • bed wardrobes - on the upper tier there is a practical sleeping place, and at the bottom there is a spacious wardrobe;
  • bed tables - at the top there is a sleeping place, at the bottom - a workplace;
  • roll-out systems - when folded they take up little space and are quite compact, but with the onset of night with the help of a roll-out mechanism they are transformed into a large double bed;
  • folding systems can be easily integrated into any cabinet furniture and take up little space.

Sofa beds

It is this variant of transformable furniture, such as a sofa, that can most often be found in one-room apartments, dormitories. Their low price, the uniqueness of the design allows almost everyone to make such a profitable purchase.

Their assortment is not limited to a banal sofa with a book, in furniture stores you can also find a sofa with a pull-out mechanism, when the sleeping place is compactly hidden in a niche along with metal legs, as shown in the photo. In addition, you can find the following options for bed sofas: with an accordion system, with an adjustable backrest, unfolding models, pull-out, roll-out, recliners, a sofa with a modular system, and so on.

Bed sofas can vary by type of mechanism:

  • folding (book, click-gag) - the place to sleep is increased by lowering the back to the level of the seat;
  • unfolding (accordion) - the mechanism works according to the principle of an accordion;
  • retractable (eurobook, roll-out) - to unfold the structure, it is enough to roll out the base, and lower the back to the vacant space.

Vertical extension

Often, a transformer bed with a vertical folding mechanism is presented in the form of a double bed, which saves at least 3 square meters of living space. Minimalist architects have managed to create a perfect structure, which is assembled cabinet furniture, as shown in the photo.

The system works due to a spring or pneumatic lifting mechanism, while the sleeping place is hidden away in a special box, which harmoniously complements the appearance of the structure. In this case, the lower part of the bed can be supplemented with other decorative elements, for example, a mirror or miniature shelves, as shown in the photo.

The most common are beds with a gas lift system, when the side panels of furniture are complemented by book shelves and mezzanines for storing bed linen. Also, there are often models that transform into a writing desk or a wardrobe of compact sizes, which are ideal for a miniature children's room.

Horizontal roll-out

This option will look good in a children's room or a guest room in a miniature apartment. This mechanism is even more compact than the vertical one. At the same time, the fastening of the berth is securely screwed to another element of the existing furniture - a wardrobe, a table, a wall, a photo.

The anchorages are often located on the longer side of the bed, reducing stress and allowing the use of cheaper and less powerful mechanisms. Such designs can be found in furniture for children: bunk beds or so-called loft beds.

Modern models are represented by original control carried out remotely through the remote control or by pressing a special button. Thanks to the ease of use, the child can unfold and fold his bed himself.

With rotating or pivoting mechanism

Such furniture will become a real decoration of the house, but it should be understood that much more space will be required for its location than for the previous options. A swivel or swivel bed is a luxurious and aristocratic interior element for a spacious apartment or a country house, as shown in the selection of photos.

The fastening principle is not much different from horizontal beds, furniture becomes the basis - bookcases, wall bars with niches and so on. And the control is carried out exclusively remotely, therefore, when creating such models, strong metal alloys are used for the fastening system.

Built in wardrobe and table

Compact and practical beds that can be removed into the closet will become a real boon for a small space, for example, a miniature living room or bedroom. Various modifications allow you to choose the furniture option that is most suitable for the quadrature and style: one and double, for children, with a vertical and horizontal mechanism.

Bed cabinets may differ in the folding mechanism:

  • folding - pneumatic springs are responsible for lowering the structure to a horizontal position;
  • swing-out - swivel joints facilitate operation.

The bed table is suitable for small children's rooms, the photo shows that with the help of a convenient mechanism in the daytime it is a desk for games, study, drawing, and at night the bed table turns into a sleeping place for the baby.

Thanks to the hinged mechanism, the structure can be folded and unfolded easily. As for the table, it can be mounted both longitudinally and transversely. There are also lifting mechanisms when the berth rises, freeing up space for a folding or portable table.

What material to choose

When choosing transforming furniture, you should pay special attention to the materials from which the bed frame is made. Among the offered assortment you can find models made of the following materials:

  • noble wood species.

Chipboard beds are a budget option that everyone can afford. If we talk about quality, then such a material is unable to withstand the daily load exerted on it for a long time, therefore, the operational periods of transformer beds made of chipboard are limited to 2-3 years.

MDF transformers are more durable, models from this raw material can be found in the model range of domestic and foreign manufacturers, and their operational life will be at least 5 years. The beds of their solid natural wood will last the longest, but at the same time you need to understand that the weight of the product will be much greater. Therefore, the preparation of the surface where the system will be mounted must be approached thoroughly so that it can withstand the permissible load.

An equally important point is the emphasis on the metal from which the fastening system, lifting mechanisms and legs are made. Heavy metal alloys do not deform and are able to withstand a lot of weight, they should be preferred when choosing a transformer for your home, photo.

Dimensions (edit)

The dimensional grid of transforming models is not much different from the standard ones and fully complies with the requirements of GOST. The transformer can be provided for children from 0 to 10 years old and has its own sizes.

The lineup for adults can be roughly divided into three types: single, one-and-a-half and double. Single beds produced by domestic manufacturers can vary in width from 70 to 90 cm.While imported brands offer more spacious options for one berth, the width of which is 90-100 cm.The length of the bed is 1.9-2 meters ... This option is perfect for teens and low-weight adults.

One-and-a-half transformer beds are larger and provide freedom of sleep for one person, but for two the space will not be enough. The standard width is up to 1.4 meters, and the length is 1.9-2 m. A truly royal option for a bedroom will be a double bed, the dimensions of which are 1.4x2 meters and 1.6x2 m.But among modern models you can also find specimens, width which will be 170 cm, which is not very practical for transformers, because you should not forget about the load on the wall.

Which mechanism is more reliable

The main element of any transformer bed is the lifting mechanism, the reliability of which ensures the durability of the product. Today there are several types of such mechanisms:

  • spring;
  • gas lift;
  • with counterweight.

Gaslift
Manual
Spring loaded

If we compare the spring model and the gas lift, then the second option is the best, which can work up to 90 thousand cycles. The problem with the spring mechanism is that the springs can become loose over time. Because of this, such mechanisms work up to 20 thousand cycles.

If the area of the room does not allow setting large sizes for the sleeping area, then a transformer bed for a small apartment will become a real salvation. This option is practical, compact and folding mechanism, which helps to save usable space. We are talking not only about the simplest mechanism - but also about the numerous solutions that allow. With the help of a simple device, the bed is transformed into any other piece of furniture.

Transformer bed for a small apartment: advantages and disadvantages

Transforming furniture is rational and has many valuable advantages. Pros of transformer beds for the following:

  • assembly and unfolding of the sleeping bed is carried out by a simple mechanism, which consists of special belts, electric drive devices (optional) and strong springs;
  • the design can turn into a headset for writing, a play area, or, which contributes to the equipment of additional storage space;
  • a large selection of sizes of furniture structures;
  • saving space, since;
  • the ability to place the device in awkward areas in the corner.

These headsets have certain disadvantages:

  • due to frequent unfolding, the mechanisms wear out. When buying, special attention should be paid to the manufacturer, materials and quality of the furniture;
  • higher price than standard furniture.

You should not purchase such furniture sets for the elderly, as the constant assembly and disassembly can be tiresome.

The original solution is considered to be gas lift structures. In this case, the side panels are equipped with mezzanines and compact.

Bed with horizontal mechanism

A headset with a horizontal system is considered a more compact option. The sleeping bed is attached to the second piece of furniture. The fasteners are located on the larger side of the bed, which reduces stress. Such furniture is often installed in the children's room. This includes beds on two levels.

Some products can be controlled remotely or using dedicated buttons. A similar mechanism is possessed by transformer bed tables for a small apartment.

Which covering and material should I choose?

When choosing ergonomic furniture, special attention should be paid to the materials of manufacture. The most common options are:

  • considered the most budgetary option. The material is characterized by low performance properties;

  • refers to a more durable material, it can last at least 5 years;

  • natural wood products are considered the most durable.

The quality of the material from which the fasteners are made is of great importance. Metals are stable, do not deform and can support significant weight.

Bed dimensions

Transformers for children up to 10 years old have special sizes. For babies up to three years old, the bed is 60 cm wide and 120 cm high.For children from 4 to 7 years old, the length should be about 140 cm.You will need a device with a width of 90 and a length of 180.

Beds for adults are single, one-and-a-half and double. The width of the single-bed version in domestic models varies from 70-90 cm, and in imported models from 90-100 cm. In this case, the length can reach 1.9-2 meters. This option is also suitable for teenagers. The standard width of the one-and-a-half model is about 1.4 meters. Double options are 1.4-1.6 meters wide.

Which mechanism should you prefer?

The most important element in the device of the transformer is the lifting mechanism. The service life of the structure depends on its strength and reliability.

Modern models contain the following types of mechanisms:

  • spring-loaded works up to 20 thousand cycles;
  • gas lift about 90 thousand;
  • counterbalanced models are considered more reliable. They require additional space.

Secrets and rules of choice

To choose a quality headset, you should use the following rules:

  • as a material for the body, you should choose MDF or natural wood, which are characterized by a long service life;
  • lifting mechanisms and various fastening systems must be made of durable material;
  • unfolded furniture should not interfere with movement;
  • do not ignore the general one.

The convertible furniture was originally produced by French, Spanish and German manufacturers. When choosing budget options, it is worth considering models of domestic manufacturers.

The main problem of budget housing is the lack of free space. For this reason, many are forced to give up, using uncomfortable narrow ones. It turns out that there is a simple and original solution - a transformer bed. For a small apartment, this is the best option. What are, what to be guided by when buying and how much such models cost - in this material.

Thanks to such furniture, even a small room can easily accommodate a double bed.

  • it is better to dwell on a model without springs, it is not known how the springs will behave in a vertical arrangement;

  • you should not buy a mattress filled with coke shavings, it is very heavy, this will create an additional load on the mechanism and require a lot of effort during the folding process;
  • the best choice for a transformer bed is a light latex mattress, it has good orthopedic properties and at the same time retains its shape for a long time.

Varieties of transformation mechanisms

The most important part of such a bed is the transformation mechanism. There are three types of mechanisms:

  • spring;
  • gas lift;
  • counterweight.

Each of them has its own working resource. The gas lift is guaranteed to work ninety thousand times.

For your information! It is better if the gas lift is filled with nitrogen rather than air. With such a filling, corrosion of parts will not form.

The spring design will last only twenty thousand cycles. Springs tend to stretch and lose their elasticity. But they are much cheaper than a gas lift.

The most durable of the presented mechanisms is the counterweight one. Its only drawback is the need to allocate space to accommodate the counterweight. Such devices are rarely found on the market, they are usually used in hand-made models.

Helpful advice! When choosing furniture with a dual purpose, it is better to choose a model with a metal frame.

As you can see, buying transformer beds for a small apartment is within the power of a family, even with a small income. Of course, there are models that cost six figures. Here only one question arises - if there is an opportunity to purchase such a valuable thing, why not buy a bigger apartment?

Convertible furniture for small apartment- the ability to organize a comfortable and convenient living space, despite the lack of space. Such furniture allows not only to unload the space, but also to make it more functional by combining several different zones on the same area. The topic of transforming furniture has always been relevant - mass urban development did not indulge its owners with large apartments, therefore various types of roll-out (folding) sofas as well as various options for book tables have become a common attribute of city apartments. But, thanks to technical evolution and design creativity, today there are designs that are able not only to radically change their shape, but also look very attractive and aesthetically pleasing.

Wardrobe-bed-transformer: an undoubted gain in space

Where and how to place the bed is the most problematic moment for owners of small two- and one-room apartments... The problem can be partially solved by a sofa bed - the most famous and widespread example of transforming furniture with a folding or sliding part. However, recently, transformers such as " wardrobe bed". When assembled, they are just a wardrobe, the facade of which is made taking into account the stylistic features of the room design. A special lifting mechanism allows you to quickly unfold a full bed.

A bed in a closet has several advantages over a sofa bed:

  • compactness - in terms of area, the drawer-wardrobe, where the bed is removed, takes up significantly less space (less than one square space) than a sofa, because the main useful area of the bed in the assembled state is located in height along the wall
  • such a bed has no joints that are formed when the sofa is unfolded
  • the basis of the structure is a metal frame and lamellas (they enhance the orthopedic effect), on which the orthopedic mattress is laid - in combination, this ensures a healthy sleep without undue stress on the spine
  • no need for additional laundry drawer- it is fixed with special straps and retracted inside the closet, so that in the evening you don't even have to change the bed.

The built-in folding bed can be as single as well as full double... At the same time, double, rather bulky beds, are equipped with a vertical folding mechanism, but single beds are horizontal, which makes it possible to place various shelves or decorative elements above the niche. In the latter case, the unfolded bed will resemble a sofa firmly set against the wall. In addition, such a bed can be decorated under a closed shelf or chest of drawers. To make the rest as comfortable as possible, built-in spotlights are installed in the upper part of the cabinet, which will provide the sleeping place with lighting of the desired intensity. The wardrobe bed itself may include not only a compartment in which the bed is laid, but compartments for storing necessary things.
