Do-it-yourself mosquito net for plastic windows. We make a mosquito net with our own hands (34 photos) Pull the net over a plastic window with our own hands

An effective means of protection against mosquitoes and other small insects is a mosquito net. You can purchase a ready-made structure, or you can make it yourself. The use of modern materials makes it possible to make a mosquito protection for a window made of mesh material, which will fit snugly against the window frame and have a neat appearance.

Types of protective mesh

Before starting production, you need to decide what type of mesh is needed. They differ in different ways:

  • by the type of fastening - on hooks, Velcro, on pins, on Z-shaped brackets;
  • by type of opening: stationary, removable, sliding, roll;
  • by the presence of the frame: on the frame (frame), frameless;
  • at the place of attachment: internal or external.

Below it will be described how to make frameless - stationary and removable, as well as a mosquito protection option - a mesh on a frame made of a cable channel.

How to make a budget version of a frameless mesh?

The simplest version of a do-it-yourself frameless mesh is stationary. The canvas is simply glued to the window frame. But since the canvas itself does not hold well, a strip of material with good adhesion must first be sewn along its perimeter. It can be any kind of cloth tape. If installation is carried out on a wooden window, the canvas can be additionally fixed with buttons. The advantage of this method is maximum simplicity, the disadvantage is that the mesh cannot be opened, and also removed to clean it from dirt. That is, after a while it will have to be dismantled and the entire procedure must be repeated.

The second option is a velcro mesh. In order to make it yourself, you will need the following materials:

  • anti-mosquito cloth;
  • Velcro tape (Velcro, "burdock");
  • construction glue.

Part of the tape is attached with construction glue to the inner quarter. That is, to that part of the frame to which the window sash adjoins when closing. The second part is sewn around the perimeter of the anti-mosquito cloth. Before applying the glue, the area of the frame to which the glue will be applied must be degreased and dust-free. The advantages of this type of frameless mesh are "reusability", if necessary, it can be opened slightly or completely removed. In terms of cost, it also refers to the budget option.

To attach the Velcro to the frame, it is better to choose a transparent rubber glue, for example Tytan, which can then be easily removed without leaving any residue. This is especially important if the window is plastic - rubbing and repainting like a wooden one will not work here.

DIY frame design

To make a frame with your own hands, you will need the following elements.

  • Rectangular cable duct (15 × 10 mm). The length is determined based on the outer perimeter of the frame, where the frame will be attached.
  • Metal corners (10 mm) - 4 pcs.
  • Blind rivets - 16 pcs.

From the tools you will need a file for metal and a drill. First of all, the dimensions are removed - height and width. Cut 4 pieces from the cable channel at an angle of 45 degrees and fold them in the form of a rectangle. Having placed over the corners, you need to drill the holes in the profile so that they exactly coincide with the holes in the corners. Then, using rivets, the structure is connected - and the frame is ready. Please note that when riveting, the riveter must be located outside the cable duct.

After the frame is ready, you need to fix the canvas in it. It is placed over the frame and snapped into place by the cable duct cover. To fix it evenly, without sagging, you need to start fastening along one of the long sides. In this case, you need to make sure that there is no bias. Then the canvas is fixed on one of the following sides of the frame.

It is better to secure the opposite sides with an assistant, since here you will need to provide light tension. At the same time, pull the canvas, make sure that there is no skew and it is inconvenient to snap the bar, so an extra pair of hands will come in handy here. The frame type mosquito net can be attached to the window in different ways. The most common is plunger, using Z-shaped brackets.

In order to avoid the plank snapping off, it is better to additionally secure it with glue. To do this, when the structure is completely ready, a small amount of glue must be applied to the gap between the cable channel and its cover (strip).

How to choose a canvas?

The main element in any such design is the canvas. It is sold in rolls and per meter. There are about 30 running meters per roll. If you need to make 1-2 structures with your own hands, then it is better to buy per meter. When comparing prices, please note: they can be indicated both per square meter and per linear meter. In terms of quality indicators, the canvas differs in the following parameters:

  • cell size;
  • web thickness;
  • material;
  • strength.

The last indicator is important for the "anticose" grid. She withstands the "attack" of a pet, she is not afraid of cat claws and teeth. The most successful material for the manufacture of "anticoshka" mosquito nets is polyester with a special impregnation.

If there is a cat in the house, then only a frame mosquito net can be installed. When installing, you need to take care of additional fasteners - the canvases to the frame and the frame to the window frame. This is to prevent the animal from flying out with the net.

The size of the cell is selected depending on the size of the insects in a particular area and what protection is needed from. The smallest cells have a cross section of 0.25x1 mm. They protect not only from mosquitoes, but also from small particles of sand and dust. A canvas with cells of this size will also become an obstacle for poplar fluff. To protect against rain drops, the cross-section should be no larger than 1x1 mm.

The material from which the canvas is made is of great importance. It is he who is responsible for color fastness and service life. The safest option is polymer-coated fiberglass cloth.

Having picked up a high-quality canvas, you can make a good mosquito net of a frame or frameless type with your own hands. It will have an aesthetic appearance, as well as meet all functional tasks. With it, you can ventilate rooms without fear that uninvited visitors will fly into them: it will protect the house from mosquitoes, and from midges, and from annoying flies.

If you decide to save money on the purchase of repelling or exterminating insects, then it is worth remembering some very unpleasant moments that may accompany your communication with mosquitoes, mosquitoes and other flying, jumping and crawling brethren. After all, this is not just amazing discomfort, unpleasant sensations of touching the wings of an obsessive, cutting sound.

What you need to know about the need for insect protection

Given the current ecological situation and the rapidity of mutations, even familiar, familiar mosquitoes and midges can acquire the most incredible properties and qualities. It is worth remembering that for thousands of years insects have been carriers and initiators of a wide variety of diseases - malaria, fevers and other epidemics. Huge continents experienced waves of giant pandemics, which practically mowed down more than half of the population, devastating cities and entire states. Seemed what such tiny creatures could do? But it is they who are carriers of swamp fever and other, no less dangerous tropical ailments, to which not only the local population is exposed, but people of the European race. Numerous historically famous travelers and discoverers and lesser-known "tourists" of the past and present, those who managed to survive after traveling to tropical and subtropical regions of Africa, America and mysterious Indochina, accurately describe all the horrors of those diseases that were awarded to them by all kinds of flies and mosquitoes. If you have an opinion that it is anywhere, but not here, then you are completely wrong.

Today, huge masses of the population migrate to those areas where such infections are widespread and there is a high probability that after a vacation in Malaysia or Singapore, some tourists will become passive carriers of a variety of pathogens. And this is not all that you need to fear from. Interestingly, it is also worth considering your own safety in relation to your body's allergies. After all, the bite of such a nondescript insect can easily cause not just unpleasant sensations, but is a real danger to life - allergic reactions are very different and very dangerous.

However, all of this can be avoided by not only using drugs, insect repellents and other chemicals. There is the most reliable and time-tested method in those countries where insects are common - mosquito nets on window openings and doors. Today it is made from modern materials and is distinguished by its excellent design and elasticity. It not only perfectly protects against midges and mosquitoes, annoying fluff, which is so annoying when poplars are blooming.

Reasons for installing a mosquito net

Nowadays, without exception, all models of plastic windows are offered by manufacturers, complete with mosquito nets. So that it does not spoil your mood and does not interfere with a good view, you need to consult with experts and choose the right thing that will allow the mesh to be perfect - the color of the canvases and the size of the cells. Then it is practically invisible and does not represent any obstacle to the sun's rays and air currents. This is very important in the design of a modern window, where you can open it slightly or completely open it while maintaining the tension of the insect netting. This function is very beneficial for home and office owners on the ground floors of buildings in large cities and on central streets.

It is this simple device that has an excellent protective function against dust, fluff, small insects and even minor street debris. And on high floors, she can save the life of your favorite pets - from a hamster, a parrot to a cat who loves to relax on the windowsills, watching what happens below. Interestingly, the mosquito net is easy to install, which also makes it very easy to place on a door. Due to the fact that it can be of various sizes and configurations, it is installed on windows and doorways of any scale. Then you will have a calm and peaceful sleep, an abundance of fresh air in the bedroom, a cheerful mood in the morning and a boost of energy for the whole day ahead.

In most cases, installing mosquito and other insect nets does not cause difficulties and no special skills.

Features of the design of the mosquito net

Nobody has invented anything new for hundreds of thousands of years. The mesh material is simple to design, and modern innovative technologies allow you to create a lightweight, fixed-type construction model, which is a simple frame with a canvas stretched over it. This is the simplest thing that could be done with your own hands to protect against all sorts of discomfort and the consequences of mosquito bites. Do-it-yourself mosquito netting on the window is very simple, you just need to study the technology and our manual well, choose the right materials correctly.

The technology of this simple device is simple:

  • it is first necessary to resolve the issue with the choice of canvas. The best option would be a fiberglass product covered with a rubberized compound, which is made based on the chemical composition of PVC;
  • making a frame corresponding in geometry and dimensions to the window or doorway where it will be located. They consist of a special aluminum profile for mosquito nets, connected at the corners with plastic parts;
  • overlaying the mesh and securing it with construction rings or clamps to fix the mesh fiber.

If you opted for just such a structure and grade of fiber for the mesh, it will have the following qualities - resistance to atmospheric influences, excellent fire safety, not brittle at bends, and, which is important for the external effect, does not fade at all over time.

Types of meshes and ease of use

Modern design solutions for doors and windows simply amaze the imagination, and the possibilities of their flat polyvariant opening make mosquito nets just as diverse. Today there are the following types:

  • frame. Acceptable for any windows and doors, convenient and practical. Most acceptable for those who like to make home improvements with their own hands, just washable and well processed, brackets and mounts allow you to remove it for the winter months;
  • door. The same as the previous version, but according to the size of the door, it is fastened with special hinges, it is easy to install and dismantle;
  • roller shutter. Convenient in that the design allows you to hide them by folding them into a special aluminum case at the top of the opening;
  • sliding. Used on terraces and balconies, it has an aluminum frame that moves along the lower and upper tracks on rollers. Easy to remove and easy to clean.

And at the end of our story about the benefits of mosquito nets, I would like to hope that you will make a choice between adhesive tapes, poison sprayers, fly swatter and mosquito repellent for the skin and the ability to simply make a mosquito net. If you wish, you can purchase it, but one way or another, after installing it, you will no longer meet insects, poplar fluff, plant seeds and banal street rubbish in your apartment. Moreover, the prices are very democratic, and the product itself is worth it to be urgently purchased or made.

Do-it-yourself mosquito net with magnets.

There are curtains on sale that trap insects on the street, the halves of which are snapped in by themselves with magnets of reverse polarity. The products of the Chinese manufacturer require revision; an analogue of these structures is easy to make at home.

The price of a meter of magnetic tape with an adhesive layer on the reverse side ranges from 50 to 30 rubles per running meter. For window structures, one side of this tape is applied around the perimeter of the opening. In door, window openings, it processes three sides. Then the contour of the canvas is sheathed with a cloth, into which the opposite side of the magnetic tape is passed.

Convenience of the design consists in self-fixing of the sashes, mobility, quick installation at a new place of operation. When self-made, the structure costs three times less, the user uses the actual dimensions of the openings, guaranteeing complete overlap of insect access. The only difficulty lies in the correct positioning of the poles when passing through the fabric cover. It is impossible to mix up the polarity of the opposite side when gluing to the sides of the opening.

The density of the mesh can be selected independently, and it can be additionally treated with sprays. In addition to insects in rooms, the amount of fluff and third-party debris that accidentally gets into a room with a draft is significantly reduced. The structure, unlike all previous modifications, is difficult to damage, which increases its resource.

OWN HAND MOSKIT Nets: MATERIALS, MANUFACTURING.

Not all window units are equipped with factory mosquitoes; some users are not satisfied with the large size of these products during off-season storage. Therefore, do-it-yourself mosquito nets are often created from scrap materials. There are several options without a rigid frame, home-made structures from a factory impost, suitable for the size of cable channels for electrical wiring.

Detachable frameless options

Do-it-yourself mosquito nets can be hung on clothing, shoe, construction Velcro during operation. The budget of the construction does not exceed 150 rubles, for which the canvas and the fastener are purchased.

It is necessary to choose modifications of "Velcro", the reverse side of which has an adhesive layer. One part (with hooks) is glued around the perimeter of the window block near the sealing rubber band. This distance is different for the PVC profile of individual manufacturers, therefore, you should measure its value before visiting the store.

The counterpart (fluffy) is attached along the perimeter of the canvas, the excess is cut off with a knife. Instead of a standard mesh, fiberglass can be used, the optimal color is black. The contrast of the street space decreases through the white cells, therefore, this color is not recommended.

The removable mosquito net has another installation option. At the same time, the budget will not increase; instead of a fastener, you need to buy a cord (sold in sports, travel, hardware stores). The diameter should correspond to 4 mm (checked by the label, but not by manual measurement), the larger one will not fit into the factory groove, the thin one will fly out of it.

Do-it-yourself mosquito nets of this type are cut into the size of the opening with an allowance around the perimeter of 3 - 2 cm. Installation is carried out in stages:

  • the mesh is laid on the groove in the PVC profile
  • the cord is pressed through it into this groove, starting from the corner
  • for convenience, a narrow wallpaper roller can be used
  • stretching is carried out alternately: top, side, bottom, second vertical

The advantage of this method is easy tension adjustment, the cord can be removed to smooth out wrinkles. There are no problems with the storage of the canvas after removing it in the fall. The seals removed for the summer are lubricated, their resource increases (there is no solar ultraviolet light, weathering).

Mosquito net from a factory impost

If there are shops in the city that sell components, fittings for PVC windows, it is easier to make mosquito nets with your own hands from these elements. The budget in this case will turn out to be the maximum, however, the products will still cost less. For homemade mosquitoes you will need a kit:

  • frame profile (impost)

  • connecting corners

  • canvas
  • cord of the required diameter
  • pens
  • fasteners (Z-brackets)

The dimensions of the structure are taken taking into account the size of the opening - it corresponds to the internal dimensions of the mesh. Manufacturing technology looks like:

  • cut of the impost - two vertical, two horizontal blanks, for greater rigidity, the middle lintel of the same material can be used
  • assembly - the frame is assembled using corners, extension cords
  • covering - the mesh is applied to the frame, pinched inside the groove with a cord on one short side, then the rubber seal is tucked along the entire perimeter, the edge of the cord, the canvas is cut
  • installation - the structure slides into the brackets fixed on the outer frame

The advantage of the method is the factory quality of the elements, the presence of original handles, corners, connectors. The impost is cut with a hacksaw, thanks to the special elements, the cut is straight everywhere. The mosquito net does not differ in design, quality, resource from factory modifications.

Mosquito net from cable duct

In small settlements, there may be no factory-made components for the window sides on sale, or the home craftsman does not know the addresses of these stores. In this case, do-it-yourself mosquito nets can be made from cable channels that are guaranteed to be present in the construction markets.

The budget of the craft is 300 - 400 rubles, all operations initially take 2 hours, subsequent mosquitoes are created twice as fast.

Manufacturing technology is as follows:

  • cut - unlike the previous case, the edge is cut in the miter box at 45 degrees
  • assembly - the greatest strength is provided by the connection with metal corners on rivets

  • fixing the canvas - the mesh is snapped into place with the striking plates of the cable channels along the perimeter, starting from the short side

Field installation is the same as in the previous case. If necessary, the brackets can be made independently from scrap materials:

  • aluminum strip
  • piece of pvc profile

  • two angles connected by back sides

To prevent the plastic of the cable channel from bursting at the moment of tension, the riveter is located on the side of the plastic, the crumpled part of the fastener - on the side of the metal plate. The diameter of the drill when making a hole is indicated on the rivet packaging or is selected according to the table.

Making mosquito nets with their own hands, the user ensures maximum integration of the structure into the size of the existing opening. The comfort of use increases, there are no cracks through which insects can penetrate.

  • by the type of fastening - on hooks, Velcro, on pins, on Z-shaped brackets;
  • by type of opening: stationary, removable, sliding, roll;
  • by the presence of the frame: on the frame (frame), frameless;

That is, after a while it will have to be dismantled and the entire procedure must be repeated.

The second option is a velcro mesh. In order to make it yourself, you will need the following materials:

  • anti-mosquito cloth;
  • Velcro tape (Velcro, "burdock");

  • cell size;
  • web thickness;
  • material;

With the onset of the first sunny days, the issue of protecting your home from flies, mosquitoes, midges and other flying insects becomes relevant. The owners of wooden windows traditionally attach gauze or mesh to the frame with buttons. And in other cases, the collected mosquito net on plastic windows with your own hands can become salvation. Frame or roll-up mosquito netting is easy to install and remove, does not require special care and strict rules during operation.

Types of mosquito nets

You can independently make a structure of two types:

  1. Velcro;
  2. frame mosquito net.

The first option is simpler and more budgetary. Any woman can make and install such a grid, even without special tools. Frame meshes are more practical, they will last for several years, do not deform and retain their basic properties.

To make a Velcro mesh you will need: a canvas with a mesh size of 1x1 mm; Velcro tape, on one side of which there is a pile, and on the other, small flexible hooks-grippers; glue for cork or mosaic tiles. A strip of hooked tape is attached with glue around the perimeter of the window frame. After that, the required mesh segment is measured and cut out. The remaining strip of tape with fluffy pile is attached along the edge. It is recommended to attach it to the frame 24 hours after the glue has completely dried.

Making a frame mesh with your own hands

The frame structure consists of the following elements:

  1. net;
  2. painted aluminum profile;
  3. frame fasteners;
  4. crossbar;
  5. crossbar fasteners;
  6. plastic mounts for corners;
  7. rubber cord seal;
  8. handles-holders for installing the frame in the window opening.

At the very beginning, we will tell you how to measure a mosquito net on a plastic window . It is necessary to take measurements with the window sash open. The height and width must match the opening. The 4.5 cm of the window frame at the top and 4 cm of the bottom must remain free, and the frame fasteners will be installed on them. Subsequently, when making a frame, it is important to take into account the width of the aluminum profile. Its standard dimensions are 25 mm.

The assembly begins with the preparation of the aluminum profile. Points corresponding to measurements are drawn on it with a pencil, vertical and horizontal frame strips are cut out along them. They are connected to each other by plastic corners, forming a frame.

The crossbar should be 50 mm less than the net width to easily fit between the side vertical bars. The main purpose of this element is to tension the mesh.

In the center of the frame, the mesh can be pulled down by tension, and the bar will prevent this.

At first glance, it may seem that a do-it-yourself mosquito net on plastic windows is a complex structure and only an experienced one who crafts special tools in his arsenal can cope with it. In fact, when measuring and assembling, you can use the tools at hand: a school ruler, a kitchen or stationery knife, scissors, and a screwdriver and a hammer can be found in every home.

After the frame of the frame is assembled, you can start tensioning the mesh. To do this, turn the frame upside down and lay it on a stable horizontal plane. A piece of mesh is laid on top of the frame so that the protruding parts along the perimeter are equal.

Using a screwdriver or other flat thin object, the cord is tucked into the profile groove. It fits over the mesh and holds it firmly inside the aluminum frame. In the process of work, it is important to stretch the canvas and straighten the forming folds.

Handles are installed approximately in the center of the vertical slats for easy installation of the mosquito net. They also roll up under a rubber cord. The remaining netting along the entire perimeter of the frame is cut with a blade or a clerical knife, giving the product a finished, neat and aesthetically beautiful appearance.

Setting the frame grid

Before installation, prepare the window frame profile. Its surface is cleaned of dust and wiped dry with a soft, lint-free cloth.

For installation, special fasteners are used, which are screwed to the frame with self-tapping screws. Two fasteners are placed on the lower horizontal strip of the window profile; they are slightly smaller in size than the upper fasteners. For more convenient screwing, you can glue them to the frame with double-sided tape. After the self-tapping screws are screwed in, it is recommended to treat all seams with silicone sealant in order to maintain the waterproof and heat-conducting properties of the plastic profile.

The upper fasteners are installed according to the same principle. To calculate their location, you need to install the frame with the mesh all the way on the lower brackets, mark the height at the level of the upper bar, then add 8 mm to this figure. When installing the mesh in the fasteners, you should hold the frame by the handles. First, the mosquito net is inserted all the way into the upper brackets, and the lower bar should pass freely over the lower fasteners. The frame leans against the window profile and then smoothly lowers. If the top brackets do not hold the frame firmly enough, it is recommended to reinstall them a few millimeters lower.

It is necessary to remove the mosquito net (for example, to clean it of dust and debris) as follows: holding by the handles, the frame is lifted up, removed from the lower fasteners, then lowered down and out of the upper fasteners.

Summer has come. Finally, you can open the windows and ventilate the apartment. But in addition to fresh and warm air, summer can bring unexpected guests into your home, ranging from annoying mosquitoes to flies, bees and other animals. To avoid such a neighborhood, you should think about purchasing a mosquito net. Although why buy it if you can do it yourself? Moreover, even a person who is not familiar with the basics of construction can make it. So, we need a mosquito net on our own hands, it will be quite simple to make such a structure.

Doing better on your own

If you are thinking about getting rid of annoying insects, then, most likely, you are already interested in purchasing or making a net from them. So, how is a do-it-yourself mosquito net for plastic windows made? It is clear that a plastic window is not a wooden one for you. That is, you cannot drive nails into it. Therefore, creating a mesh will have its own nuances.

What do you need?

So, we need the following:

    The canvas itself, from which then a mosquito net on plastic windows will turn out. Everyone will be able to fix it with their own hands in the right place.

    Contact tape (in common people called "burdock" and is sold in any sewing store).

    Frost-resistant glue (preferably transparent, but any will do).

These are all the materials we need. Their total cost is unlikely to exceed the limit of 200-300 rubles. The only thing that can spoil your mood is shopping in search of the necessary product. After acquiring everything you need, you can proceed directly to creating your masterpiece.

Preparation method

The work begins with the fact that the window you have chosen should be carefully prepared - to wash the frames from dust and dirt, and then wipe the surface dry. This will provide a better connection to the structure we create. After the surface is ready, a thin bead of glue should be applied to each frame. On it we will put one side of the Velcro (the one with the hooks). Do not be afraid to apply glue - the nets created on plastic windows will be easy to remove. And if you want to remove the glue, you can easily do it with a spatula. Next, you need to measure out the required amount of the mesh and adjust it under. In order not to be mistaken with the dimensions, you can attach it to the glued Velcro (only after the glue has dried!) And make the necessary marks. The second side of the contact tape (the one that is "fluffy") should be carefully stitched to the edges of the mesh along the perimeter. It will be more correct if you sew the fastener along both edges, but one seam in the middle will do. Now it remains to attach the finished mesh to and then connect our "burdock". Now there is no need to be afraid that the "enemies" will pass through the plastic windows: the mosquito net copes well with all pests and does not let them into the house.

Conclusion

As you can see, there is nothing difficult in making this item. And if you take the initiative and put your hands on, then soon you will have your own mosquito net for plastic windows. You can do a lot with your own hands, the main thing is desire.

Nowadays, everything is being improved technically, and the mosquito net is no exception. Modern mosquito nets are almost invisible, lightweight, durable, good for light transmission and block the path of street dust. Their design is quite repeatable at home; a do-it-yourself mosquito net can be made without experience and special tools in 2-3 hours... This means at least 2-3 times savings in money (multiply by the number of windows), but you need to know which type of window the mesh is best for and how to make it so that it immediately fits into place and lasts longer. In what we will try to help the readers.

Types of window grids

Manufacturers offer a wide selection of swing mosquito nets (pos. 1 in the figure below), sliding, pos. 2, pleated (folding accordion), pos. 3, and roll nets, pos. 4. The last two types do not have to be removed for the winter and they practically do not take up the space of the room. But they all have 3 features.

Firstly, the technical complexity: hinges, locks, mechanisms are needed, and for installation - acc. production skills and special tools. Secondly, the high cost. Turnkey swinging net is cheaper than 1600 rubles / sq. m in the Russian Federation could not be found. Sliding pulls more by about 1900 rubles. per sq. m, and pleated and rolled mesh for 4500 rubles. sq. m is incredibly cheap.

But most importantly, all "mechanical" nets do not adequately protect against mosquitoes. As you know, male mosquitoes do not suck blood, and mosquitoes need it to ripen their eggs. Sensing warm-blooded people in the room, the beautiful ladies of the mosquito genus hide nearby and patiently wait when it will be possible to seize the moment for an invasion. Mosquitoes need only 2-4 seconds to get inside; movable nets open for a longer time. Let only one individual fly in, but its annoying itching will not allow you to sleep properly. What is so difficult in the summer heat and stuffiness.

Note: See end for a simple and inexpensive way to keep mosquitoes out of a mesh-covered opening, window or door.

A reliable and inexpensive anti-mosquito net on the window with your own hands is made with a fixed frame (pos. 5) or frameless, pos. 6. The frame mosquito net can be external, internal or inserted into the window opening. Frameless meshes are only possible internally. Cost of 1 sq. m of the factory frame mesh, without installation, is 700-1000 rubles / sq. m; the same amount will have to be paid for installation on any floor above the first. A set of factory parts for making a frame mesh yourself costs 300-500 rubles. without a cloth. A completely finished frameless mesh for 1 window will cost the same amount. An option for 80-100 rubles / window is possible, but under a big question, see below.

Which one to do?

In general, the manufacture of a homemade mosquito net is carried out taking into account the following:

  • Window frame material - plastic, wood.
  • If the window is plastic, then the type of sash to be opened is hinged, tiltable, combined.
  • Home ownership type - private house, high-rise building.
  • Number of storeys of the building.
  • Window opening frequency.

According to these conditions, the following are selected:

  1. the material of the mesh panel - depending on local conditions and the presence of cats and small rodents in the house or nearby;
  2. mesh design - frame, frameless;
  3. if frame - its location in the opening: internal, external, plug-in;
  4. also for the frame mesh - frame design and materials for it;
  5. mounting method - both frame and frameless mosquito nets can be attached to the window in several ways;
  6. assembling a frame with a panel (if the mesh is frame) or sewing a panel of a frameless mesh;
  7. assembly / installation of the grid on site.

Note: a mosquito net for plastic windows with tiltable sashes is made exclusively of an external frame, unless the openable sash is completely removed for the summer.

Cloth

The maximum permissible mesh size of the mosquito net is 3.7x3.7 mm; they are already crawling through the big mosquitoes. The minimum is limited by the conditions of air and light transmission. Meshes with a mesh of less than 2x2 mm are suitable as temporary ones or in conditions of good ventilation, for example. on the balcony; see also below. Mosquito netting in the middle zone of the Russian Federation is usually taken with a mesh of 3x3 mm; in taiga places, where petty gnats pester, with a mesh of 2x2 and even 1.5x1.5 mm. Meshes with a mesh of 1x1 mm are used in very dusty places.

Mosquito nets made of fiberglass (fiberglass) with a PVC coating (item 1 in the figure) are still in use due to their strength, but otherwise they are poor: light and air transmission is not important, because the threads are thick. PVC under the influence of ultraviolet radiation and dust soon collapses, the mesh becomes a dust collector and itself begins to dust with the smallest glass needles. Practically in the southern regions of the Russian Federation, fiberglass panels need to be changed every season.

Modern mosquito nets are woven from polyester (polyester) fibers. A grid with a rectangular mesh (pos. 2) is cheaper, stronger and better reflects (does not accumulate in itself) street dust, but it does not let light and air pass through. In places where small bloodsuckers (midges, spines) are common, and the Sun does not indulge in bright radiance in summer, it is better to make a mesh on the window from a material with 6-sided meshes, pos. 3. A cloth with 1.5 mm hexagonal meshes gives the same resistance to light and air currents as a woven cloth with rectangular meshes 2.7x2.7 mm.

The size of the mesh and the type of weaving is not always known to sellers, especially on the Internet. Most often they offer a grid with rectangular cells of the Standard, Antidust and Anticoshka brands, pos. 4:

  • Standard - mesh 3x3 mm, material of normal strength.
  • Anti-dust - mesh 1x1 or 1.5x1.5 mm, material with increased wear resistance and strength. The weaving of the fabric is smooth: the dust settles little on the mesh, but is mainly reflected back by small swirls of air. Designed for southern treeless areas with high insolation and dust content in the air. It can replace the "antignus" mesh with a 6-sided fine mesh in taiga and tundra, but light transmission for high latitudes is satisfactory at best.
  • Anticoshka - a mesh of 2.5x3.5 mm or so, a material of increased strength. Light and air transmission is satisfactory for middle latitudes and further south. Does not save from the gnat; the cell cannot be reduced, since otherwise the cat will rip off its claws.

About anti-cats

Plastic mosquito net - anti-cat withstands the antics of medium-sized and violent cats and small rodents; those, by the way, climb vertically no worse than their pursuers. It is advisable to put a plastic anti-cat on the first floors, but if you have a domestic cat, then on top of the mosquito net you need to put a steel one with a rare mesh on the inside, see fig.; the same is done outside if there are many stray cats in the area.

Firstly, domestic cats are on average larger and stronger than street cats, and their claws are sharper because wear out less. Secondly, it is more a rule than an exception: a completely well-behaved domestic cat, having received a mosquito net at its disposal, throws its scratching post and begins to tear up the mosquito protection for nothing. Often at the same time, ripping off the claws.

What colour?

The clarity and contrast of the picture outside the window, when viewed through a white mesh, even with a very rare large mesh, noticeably fall, but from the outside to the inside it is clearly visible through it. The point here is in the so-called. diffraction distortion of the luminous flux. Therefore, it is better to take a mosquito net black, dark gray or dark brown. When viewed obliquely, the moire pattern will be more noticeable on it, but visibility outwards will generally improve, and from outside inwards it will deteriorate even more.

Framed or not?

Frameless mosquito nets of the correct design either stick poorly in place, or do not allow frequent removal, therefore their use is limited (see below for more details). There is also a "superbudget" option, up to 100 rubles. on a window, frameless mesh: the standard seals of a plastic window are removed, a cloth is inserted into their grooves and fixed with a linen cord; see eg. video:

Video: an example of making a frameless mosquito net

But, if PVC windows with a rubber seal are inexpensive, then, firstly, it turns out that it is impossible to pull out the seal that has stuck in 2-3 years without tearing it. Secondly, if the windows are new and the sealant is nevertheless removed, then after the same 2-3 seasons it ceases to seal, the window begins to blow and flow. Renovation of a window then costs a lot more than materials for a frame mesh, up to the need to replace a window frame. Therefore, further we will deal mainly with frame mosquito nets, and we will return to frameless ones when it comes to where they are appropriate.

Fastening

When choosing the method of fastening and installing the frame mesh, please note: if the mesh is external, and the window is under warranty, then the latter "burns out", unless the mesh is ordered on a turnkey basis from the window manufacturer. The reason is that the fasteners will have to spoil the frame. It is possible to fix the frame mesh to the plastic window in 3 ways (see the figure on the right); to the wooden one - with some peculiarities, see below.

Fastening with plungers (spring-loaded rods with heads, on the left in the figure) is the easiest way: the heads are retracted, the mesh is put in place, the heads are released, and the heels of the rods wedge the mesh in the opening. On the rods, the net can be installed both from the inside and outside, however, fastening mosquito nets with plungers is not widespread on the trail. reasons:

  • The mesh holds weakly - a strong wind pushes it inward or, outside, generally carries it away.
  • Large concentrated loads fall on the heels of the plungers; the net flutters with the wind, and the heels of the rods are eaten out in the frame from any hole material, which makes the window warranty void.
  • The holes for the rods weaken the frame, and from the same alternating wind loads, it breaks faster than a solid one.
  • Mosquito net plows are expensive and require special tools to install.

The frames of external mosquito nets are attached to the window frames, most often with Z-profiles, in the center. Then the grids themselves are as compact as possible and take up a minimum of space in winter storage. But, firstly, fastening the mosquito net with Z-profiles on the upper floors with your own hands is simply life-threatening: to mark and install the fasteners, you have to protrude half out of the window. Secondly, drilling of the window frame is required, which is why the guarantee for the window is lost or, if it is wooden, there are foci of rot.

The fastening of the mosquito net with staples, on the right in the figure, is similar to the fastening with Z-profiles, but the staples are placed on the frame of the net, which can also be internal or external. The thickness of the bag of nets with staples in winter storage swells twice or more; the storage nets must be shifted with cardboard so that they do not break each other with staples, but the window frame is not damaged. A frame mosquito net with brackets is the most preferable option for making it yourself, especially if the window is wooden and / or the mesh frame is made of scrap materials, see below.

Measurements

Preparation for the manufacture or purchase of a frame mosquito net begins with measurements. If the window is wooden, then measure the width and height of the skylight in several places; the smallest value is taken as the actual value. Suddenly you order a mesh in a wooden window for self-installation, you need to ask the manufacturer exactly what is there, where and how to measure, because the designs of wooden windows are varied.

For a mosquito net on Z-profiles in a plastic window, you also need to measure its light opening in 3-4 places in height and width (on the left in the figure), to make sure - did it? Then you need to measure the same width and height of the opening between the inner edges of the seals (in the center); if the opening has led more than 2 mm - in the narrowest place. Finally, the masters will be grateful to you, and the mesh will immediately fit exactly in place if you also measure the width of the slopes O and the height of their sills P, on the right in Fig.

Measurements for staples

Left to the next. rice. the names of the parts of the fastening bracket for the mosquito net are given; it will be useful to us further. And on the right, it is shown how, by measuring the window frame, to calculate the dimensions of the profile and adjust the dimensions of the mesh frame; the width of the staple is taken from 12 mm. At the same time, the light opening of the window is slightly reduced, but it is not necessary to use U-shaped brackets to make the mesh frame flush with the window on the inside: the heads of the fasteners will spoil the window frame. The paws of the upper braces are made longer than the lower ones (see below); the height of the staple flange must be equal to the height of the escutcheon with the seal.

How to put ready

Let's say you decide to save money only on the installation of the mesh. Self-installation of a mosquito net on a plastic window is possible in several ways. The most reliable is outside in the corners, pos. 1a on the next. rice: no wind will tear the mesh. But in this way it is possible to fix mosquito nets only in private houses or if the supplier of new windows offers nets as a gift. The fact is that marking the holes for the mounting angles with your own hands in this case is only possible in place, because it is necessary not to go astray in 2 directions at once.

If the windows are not yet in the walls, then they put nets on their frames, mark the holes for the fasteners, put the corners, and only then mount the windows in the wall openings. It is impossible to do this on the already mounted windows of the upper floors without experience in working at height and climbing equipment, and from the first floors the nets can simply be stolen.

Note: Factory mosquito nets for outdoor installation from thieves are often equipped with internal rotary latches. But, first, the tongue of the latch spoils the frame over time (do not forget, the wind flutters the mesh). Second, the tongue of a simple latch is simply removed from the outside with a thin nail or wire pushed through the mesh, and latches with locks are expensive.

Fastening with Z-profiles is described above and shown in pos. 1b Fig. Outside, on the upper floors, it can be done, albeit with a risk to life, or with reliable belay with an electrician's belt with a halyard. But a strong side wind can move the net, turn it right out and break it. Still more reliable is the fastening with staples, pos. 2. Frame mosquito net on brackets external and plug-in differ not only in the size of the mesh frame, but also in the height of the shelf of the fastening brackets. In the designations of typical profiles, it is given, in mm, by the last 2 digits; for typical plastic windows - acc. 13 and 7 mm. Therefore, before ordering the mesh, you need to measure the height of the sill of the window slope - suddenly it is not typical. Then you need to inform the craftsmen to pick up the desired profile, otherwise the mesh will either hang out, or will not snap into place at all.

Note: the upper fasteners of the frame mosquito net are placed 1.5 cm deeper than the lower one, pos. 3 in Fig. Why is clear from pos. 4, which shows the process of installing the mesh into the fasteners.

Homemade frames

Like real

The set of parts for self-assembly of a mosquito net is shown on the left in Fig. For a non-standard window, the nearest larger standard size is taken and the racks with crossbars are cut to size. For installation on Z-profiles, the inside dimensions of the frame must be equal to the dimensions of the skylight; See above for installing the mesh on the staples. The width of the profiles, as a rule, is from 60 mm, so that it is enough for mounting on brackets. An additional transverse beam - impost - and fastenings for it, are ordered as an option if the height of the mesh is more than 1.3-1.5 m. In swinging and sliding grids, imposts are placed every 60-80 cm in height.

The material of the profiles and fasteners is of some importance. Steel corners (in the center in the figure) are a little cheaper, but they rust over time - the PVC coating wears out. In addition, the metal rubs the plastic of the struts and crossbars, causing the frame to loosen. The plastic corner connectors of the mosquito net frame (left in the figure) are good in every way. As for the actual frame profiles, they are made of PVC (cheaper) or propylene (more expensive). PVC is less durable and becomes brittle from ultraviolet radiation after 3-4 seasons. Propylene frames of mosquito nets last for 10 years or more, you only need to change the canvas in a timely manner as needed.

The frame on steel corners is fastened with through bolts. The frame on plastic corners is fastened either with self-tapping screws or standard latches; you can also reinforce it with hardware to last longer. See below for how to put the mesh into the frame.

From something

Plastic profiles for the frames of mosquito nets are also sold in lengths of 3 and 6 m. If the nets need to be placed on several windows, then purchasing them and connecting them into frames with improvised means is the best option in terms of reliability and minimum costs. In this case, you need to purchase a special elastic cord for laying the mesh into the grooves, pos. 7 in Fig. The surface of the mesh cord is ribbed; when rolling it into a groove with a roller, the ribs grab the longitudinal threads of the mesh in this direction, providing a more uniform tension.

The frame of the mosquito net is completely "from just about anything" made of boxes - plastic cable channels with a width of 10-60 mm. For the frame of the outer mesh in Z-profiles, you need to take boxes of approximately square cross-section (marked with red arrows in pos. 1), so the frame will be stronger and more rigid. For frames for landing on brackets, boxes that are oblong in cross-section (blue arrows) are better suited.

Assemble the frame on conventional flat steel corners, pos. 2 and 3. The frame of the cable channels is bolted by removing the covers of the boxes. For a frame made of special profiles, you need to take corners with a thickness of 1.5 mm and higher and fasten them with self-tapping screws for metal - there is no cover, you cannot put a nut with a spring washer on a bolt. An impost, if necessary, is made from a piece of a cable channel, gluing its cover with strong glue (mounting moment, Titanium) and hammering the ends with wooden plugs. The impost is attached to the frame with through self-tapping screws for wood.

Laying the canvas

The finished frame is laid horizontally with a groove or open channel upward. A mesh cloth with an allowance of 3 cm (preferably 10-15 cm) is applied, straightened. If the allowance is large, the canvas will lie smoother when the wings of the allowance, having spread, are pressed along the contour with small weights. Further, if the frame is made of a special profile, a cord is laid on the canvas above the groove and rolled with a roller until it is fully pressed. The excess mesh is cut with a knife, leaving approx. 1 cm above the groove.

If the frame is made of cable channels, then the covers of the narrow sides are first placed on the superimposed and straightened mesh. Press them down until they snap into place immediately along the entire length, preferably in 4 hands. Then long covers are also applied and pressed. If you act carefully and consistently, the net will be stretched as evenly as a branded one.

Pens

The outer mosquito net cannot be replaced without handles. The cheapest option is soft and thin plastic, on the left in pos. 4. These are put in place before the mesh is applied and pressed into the grooves of the profiles along with it with a cord. Cheap, simple, but thin handles often break, and when replacing the panel, you also have to change the cord - it flattens over the handle, and this section of it will not hold the new mesh. In addition, the soft handles cannot be placed on the cable duct frame. Therefore, it is better to put stronger handles on the frame of the mosquito net, attached with self-tapping screws, on the right in pos. 4.

Note: do not put one furniture handle on an impost for the sake of a penny saving - the frame will soon break.

Staples

Plastic brackets-holders of the outer mosquito net (pos. 6a and 6b) do not damage the window frame, but they are rather fragile and often break in strong winds; the mesh dangles in them. Steel spring brackets (pos. 5) more reliably and tightly press the mesh to the window, but they can scratch the window frame, even if covered with plastic: thin soft PVC wipes quickly. The best way to make a spring clip for attaching a mosquito net completely reliable and safe is to pull a piece of heat-shrinkable tubing (HERE) over it and warm it up with a household hair dryer at maximum or gently turning it over a gas flame. The brace turns out to be tightly covered with a layer of durable elastic plastic with a thickness of approx. 1 mm. This is the best option for installing a mosquito net on brackets in a wooden window.

No frame

Frameless mosquito nets are fastened in place either with Velcro tape - burdock Velcro - or with soft magnetic strips, the same ones that are inserted into the seals of refrigerator doors. Each of these attachment systems has its own advantages and disadvantages and its own scope.

Velcro

The velcro straps hold the mesh panel very tightly, but it is not so easy to peel it off either. Half of the Velcro tape in hooks is glued to the window frame from the inside. If the window is plastic, then the hooked half of the Velcro is glued along the inner contour of the slope from the seal. The fleecy half of the Velcro is sewn along the contour of the mesh panel. For winter storage, the cloth is rolled up; if the hooked half of the Velcro was sewn to it, then the roll would have grabbed tightly and in the spring it would have been impossible to unfold it without damaging it.

In the use of mosquito nets with Velcro, unpleasant circumstances come to light: it hurts to sit firmly in place. Try peeling off the tongue of your Velcro shoe, where it is only 1-4 square meters. see. And if the adhesion area is about 100 times larger? It is necessary to glue the "burdock" side to the window frame with a very strong glue, the remnants of which cannot be removed without damaging the window frame. And this does not guarantee that on the 2nd - 3rd removal of the mesh, the glued half of the Velcro will not stretch along with it. Therefore, a mosquito net with Velcro is most often placed on balcony windows, in which the net is installed throughout the season. The thin mesh does not interfere with closing the window sash.

Note: not so long ago, a modification of burdock Velcro appeared on sale - burdock buttons. To install a frameless mosquito net on a balcony window, this is perhaps the best option, see next. video:

Video: installing a frameless mosquito net on burdock buttons

Magnets

Magnetic tape holders are available in single-pole, for attachment to steel, and bipolar, for attachment to a non-magnetic base. Mosquito nets are made on a single-pole magnetic tape, for example, in car windows; at a picnic or in the country it is better to leave them open so that the machine does not turn into an oven. The magnetic tape is sheathed with a drawstring (long narrow sleeve) made of thin, durable and non-rotting fabric: thin raincoat fabric, nylon calender, and sewn along the contour of the cloth, which can only be applied in place. The mesh on the magnets is weak, but in a small opening it is quite reliable, and does not damage the base at all.

Bipolar magnetic holders adhere more tightly and are therefore suitable for windows and doors. For ready-made kits (which are more expensive), the polarity of the tapes is marked, and one of them is already glued to the Velcro tape. It is stuck to a fat-free base, and the associated magnet is sewn in a sleeve along the edge of the panel, see above. Bipolar magnetic Velcro can be made from a pair of unipolar tape and double-sided tape. The polarity of the tapes must be marked so that they stick together when installing the panel, and do not bounce off each other. If the error occurred with the polarity, then, in general, it's okay: we turn the panel over, and it holds, only weaker. A mosquito net on magnetic holders is, perhaps, the best option for going to the country or temporary residence, say, at a recreation center.

And at the door

Magnetic strap holders allow you to make mosquito netting on your balcony door mosquito-proof, but easily walkable for people. To do this, a pair of panels (see the figure on the right) are attached at the top and sides to the door frame with burdock Velcro, and at the bottom and the seam is fastened with a bipolar magnetic tape. There is one trick here: along the seam, the magnet should be fastened in segments of 10-15 cm every 20-25 cm, pos. 2 in Fig. The edges of the seam should overlap the width of the tape. Then a person will simply pass through such a curtain, even if he carries something with both hands, but behind him it will collapse tightly faster than the fastest mosquito has time to fly in.

How to make do-it-yourself mosquito nets for plastic windows: 3 easy ways to do it yourself

Greetings. Today I will tell you about the manufacture of mosquito nets for plastic windows.

Methods for making mosquito fences for modern double-glazed windows are of considerable interest, since factory structures break down after a couple of years of constant operation. Of course, you can order a new mesh, but why resort to the services of professionals if you can cope with the task on your own using available materials and a simple tool?

In this article, we will look at the technology for assembling an anti-mosquito barrage from a purchased kit. In addition, I will tell you about the methods of making a barrier mesh from scrap materials.

Types of meshes

What types of mosquito nets for plastic windows can you order and buy today? It turns out that there is plenty to choose from!

According to the design, the following types of meshes are distinguished:

  • Frame - the most common option that comes with most windows in the basic configuration;

  • Velcro - an option for lovers of compact and easy-to-use things that, if necessary, can be easily folded for storage or just washed;

  • Rolled modifications are an expensive option, which are equipped with expensive modern double-glazed windows;
  • Sliding modification - is a mesh frame that is shifted relative to each other in the guide grooves.

There are many more varieties of nets, but this article is not about this, but about what you can do with your own hands at home.

So let's get down to an overview of what you can do yourself.

Method 1 - assembling a mesh from a purchased kit

The kit includes the following components:

  • 3 frame profiles 1.5 meters long;
  • Cross-section impost 75 cm long;
  • 4 connecting corners;
  • 2 brackets for the installation of the impost;
  • 2 handles;
  • Short and long brackets for attaching the finished structure to the window frame.
  • The mesh is 1.6 m long and 80 cm wide;
  • Rubber cord 4.6 m long;
  • Self-tapping screws.

To work, you will need the following tools:

  • Assembly knife;
  • Electric drill;
  • Drill for metal with a diameter of 2.5 mm;
  • Hacksaw for metal;
  • Curly screwdriver or screwdriver with curly bat;
  • Roulette.

The instructions for assembling the mosquito structure are as follows:

  • We measure the light clearance of the frame in height and width;
  • We transfer the dimensions of the light clearance to the profile (you can read more about the calculations in the explanations to the instructions);
  • We cut short and long profile pieces according to the markings;
  • In accordance with the measurements, we cut an intermediate profile - impost;
  • Using the side corners, we collect a rectangular frame;

We assemble the frame so that the groove for fixing the mesh is located along the entire perimeter on one side.

  • We install brackets in the side ends of the plank under the impost so that they are located with recesses in one direction;

  • We install the impost in the groove around the frame and align it to the center;
  • We unwind the mesh along the assembled structure from the side of the groove on the frame;

  • On the one hand, starting from the corner, press the sealing cord into the groove;

  • Immediately insert the handles into the groove and press with a sealant;
  • Having passed one side of the frame, we stretch the mesh and continue to insert the seal around the entire perimeter;

The gasket must be inserted in such a way that the mesh is evenly stretched and does not wrinkle. If there are folds, pull the installed cord out of the groove, and then refuel it so that the folds disappear.

  • Cut off the excess cord and cut off the excess mesh;
  • We attach brackets to the seamy side of the frame (short at the bottom and long at the top) and mark the holes for fastening with self-tapping screws;
  • Using the markings made, we drill a profile to a depth of 3 mm;

  • We attach brackets to the holes and fix them with self-tapping screws;

The distance between the brackets installed at the top or bottom must be equal to the width of the light path or 2 mm less. If the distance between the brackets is greater than the width of the skylight, the brackets will not fit into the frame.

  • We push the finished mesh into the frame opening, we hook the upper brackets to the profile, and then we hook the lower brackets to the profile from below.

If the mesh fits tightly into its seat, then the installation can be considered complete, if the assembled structure does not fit into the opening or hangs in it, you need to rearrange the brackets so as to compensate for this defect.

Explanations for the installation work

So you've got a general idea of how how mosquito nets are made on windows... Now let's take a closer look at how to correctly measure the dimensions so that the frame you made fits well into the frame opening.

It would seem that what could be easier, measured the opening and you're done. In fact, everything is a little more complicated.

In our case, the width of the light clearance is 445 mm, and the height is 1250 mm. How do I know the correct dimensions for the frame?

Calculations are carried out according to the following formula:

  • Height - minus 20 mm, it turns out 1230 mm
  • Width - minus 40 mm, it turns out 405 mm
  • The length of the impost is equal to the width of the light clearance, minus 30 mm, which is equal to 415 mm.

The given formula is universal for any light clearance, you just need to insert the current dimensions.

Method 2 - we assemble the mosquito fence from the cable channel

From materials and tools, the following will be required:

  • Cable channel 15 × 10 mm (length is selected in accordance with the perimeter of the frame opening);
  • Metal corners for assembling the frame and for making handles;
  • Plastic profile with a U-shaped cross-section;
  • Mosquito net with mesh side no more than 2 mm
  • Riveter - a tool for working with rivets and rivets with a head diameter of 7-10 mm
  • Miter box and hacksaw for metal

Installation instructions are as follows:

  • We take measurements of the frame opening, and then add 40 mm to the length, and 20 mm to the width;
  • According to the measurements made, we make marks on the cable channel;

  • Using a miter box and a hacksaw, we saw 2 short and 2 long pieces with ends cut at 45 ° so that we can assemble a rectangular frame from them;
  • Remove the covers from the pieces of the cable channel;

Riveted joint - inside view

  • We connect the pieces of the cable channel using corners and rivets into a rectangular frame;

Riveted joint - front view

  • We lay the frame on the floor with the open side up;
  • We spread the mesh over the frame;
  • We align the mesh so that there are no folds and with force we snap the covers onto the cable channels;
  • Cut off the mesh along the edge;
  • Cut the U-shaped profile into two pieces with a length along the width of the frame made;

  • We fasten the pieces of the profile at the top and bottom of the window, as shown in the figure, so that the frame with the mesh will fit into the installed holders.

The finished structure, subject to correct assembly, is no less durable than products assembled from a purchased kit.

Method 3 - installing a mosquito net directly on the frame

So we learned how to make framed mosquito fencing. But, despite the fact that the installation in both the first and second cases can be done by hand, the price of the necessary materials will be at least $ 10.

Is it possible to make an insect barrier for the price of nylon mesh and nothing more? It turns out that there is such an opportunity if there is an unnecessary clothesline on the farm.

We need the following materials and tools:

  • Polymer mesh, cut to fit the sash plus 1 cm on each side;
  • Clothesline, preferably synthetic, with a diameter of 4 mm;
  • Acute segmental;
  • Measuring tool.

The rope or cord must have a diameter of 4 mm, no more and no less. If it is 3 mm, the cord will fall out of the groove, and if it is 5 mm, it simply will not fit into the groove.

The instructions for installing the mesh are as follows:

  • Open the sash and find the alignment of the edges of the sealing cord on the frame;

  • Carefully pull the cord out of the groove;

At this stage, the seal can be washed, wiped dry and hidden until the onset of the cold season.

  • We wipe the groove from contamination with a double-folded rag;
  • Cut the mesh so that on each side it protrudes about 10 mm beyond the groove;

  • Starting from the top of the profile, press the mesh into the groove with a cord, pressing it evenly;

  • Gradually stretching the mesh so that there are no folds, we press the cord along the entire perimeter of the frame.

The finished result is good because such a barrier against mosquitoes, as unnecessary, can be removed and reinstalled with a seal, and the folded mesh will not take up much space during storage, unlike a bulky frame structure.

Self-repair of the frame mesh

When inaccurately pulling the frame out of the brackets or simply due to long-term all-season operation, the corners break on the mosquito net. What to do in this case? Of course, do the repair yourself, especially since it's easy to do.

The essence of the breakdown is that the profile from which it is made is aluminum, while the connecting corners are made of plastic, and therefore less durable.

If the plastic corner breaks, it will need to be replaced. You can buy corners in the organization that installed the windows.

The repair instructions are as follows:

  • Turn the mesh upside down with the side where the sealing cord is visible;

  • With a knife, carefully pry the seal from the corner where the breakage occurred and pull it along the entire side to the opposite corner;

  • Along the entire side, freed from the seal, carefully remove the mesh from the groove;
  • We pull out the broken corner from the adjacent profiles, and on the other side the whole one;

  • Insert new corners into the profile on both sides, so that the groove for the seal on the corners coincides with the groove on the profile;

Pulling a piece of the old corner out of the profile will be very difficult. Therefore, in order not to waste time and effort, push the chip further into the profile, and then insert a new corner.

  • We pull the mesh over the groove and insert the seal;

  • Press the sealant along the entire groove with a screwdriver or other thin object.

Actually, the repair can be considered complete on this, and I hope that this instruction was useful to you.

Mosquito net from cable channels with your own hands

Spring has come, and with it the mosquitoes. The balcony has an aluminum sliding window. There was no mosquito net for it, so I wanted to buy a factory one, but after learning the price, I refused and decided to make a homemade one.

Let's get started.

We buy in the store a cable channel 25 * 16-3pcs by 2m, 15 * 10-1pcs, rivets, mesh and corners. We take the corners in such a way that they are easily inserted into the cable channel. I only found these:

But having tried them on at home, it seemed to me that the design would be a little flimsy. Therefore, at work, corners of fiberglass were made along the width of the cable channel.

The rivets and the riveter itself.

So ... we decide on the dimensions of the future frame and start cutting the cable channel at 45 degrees. In order not to spoil the chair, it is also a temporary workbench))), I used a 20 * 20mm bar as a substrate.

We sawing, sawing and we get just such a detail. By the way, I remembered late about the cable channel with the camera function, so I assembled part of the frame without capturing the moments of its assembly.

Sawed off, trying on. Everything seems to be fine and smooth.

We insert the corner into the cable channel, drill or pick (the plastic is soft, everything is easy to pick), insert the rivets and rivet. As a result, we get such a beautiful connection.

Houston, we have a problem !!! The stud of the rivet came off in the wrong place ((.

We rivet on both sides.

Trying on. Floor tiles were used as a square.

After riveting, we get an even, beautiful-looking connection.

View from the inside of the cable channel.

The top (or bottom) is in place.

Assembled frame.

During the manufacturing process, it was decided to add a jumper in the middle of the frame for rigidity. To do this, at work, two T-shaped parts were cut out of fiberglass. There is no process of cutting a hole for a part, but everything is simple there, carefully cut out with a clerical knife to make it fit.

ATTENTION! Fingers! You can cut it twice.

The jumper is in place.

The most interesting part begins. We need to stretch the mesh. Here the wife comes to the rescue, but there is no way (. There is no stretching process, since the arms, legs and improvised objects were occupied. We take the mesh with an allowance of 2-5 cm. We pull the mesh so that there are no folds and sags. (its upper part) did not open during operation before snapping it into place, drip onto it every 10 cm with super glue and quickly put it in place.

After stretching and assembling, cut off the excess mesh flush with the cable channel.

View of the finished mosquito net. Next, let's figure out how it will be attached to the window. I got it like this: from the top of the same fiberglass, guides (ears, spikes, call it what you want) were cut and riveted, from the bottom something like an eccentric. When the mosquito net is inserted into the window frame, it falls between the frame and the window sash with the upper guides, and turn the eccentrics from below so that they also fall between the frame and the window sash. The grid stands dead, but if necessary, it can be shifted to the left or right.
