5 Entered into force on March 1, 2004 as a state standard of the Russian Federation by the decree of the Gosstroy of Russia dated June 20, 2003 N 76

Information on the entry into force (termination) of this standard and changes to it on the territory of the above states is published in the indexes of national (state) standards published in these states.

Information about the changes to this standard is published in the index (catalog) "Interstate standards", and the text of the changes - in the information indexes "Interstate standards". In case of revision or cancellation of this standard, the corresponding information will be published in the information index "Interstate standards".

This standard applies to steel door blocks with installed locking devices (hereinafter referred to as door blocks or products) for buildings and structures for various purposes.

The standard does not apply to special-purpose door blocks in terms of additional requirements for fire safety, explosion and bullet resistance, exposure to aggressive environments, etc., as well as door blocks of protective cabins in accordance with the current regulatory documentation.

The scope of application of specific types of products is established depending on the operating conditions in accordance with the current building codes and regulations, taking into account the requirements of this standard.

Gost regarding metal fire doors, requirements for them and features of operation.

What are the requirements of GOST?

To protect production, personal property and other valuables from damage as a result of fire, as well as to maximize the localization of the fire itself, it is necessary to install special fire doors. They are able not only to withstand very high temperatures, but also meet all safety standards and requirements. Unfortunately, not all manufacturers are responsible for their work, which means that in order to choose a really high-quality product, you need to know which features should be inherent in fire doors. This is what will be discussed below.

In most cases, fire resistant metal doors are installed for an emergency exit. In accordance with the current GOST 31173-2003, they must have locks, but, at the same time, it is quite easy to open. GOST prescribes to manufacture metal fire doors in such a way that, if necessary, even a child can use them. Considering the fact that in the event of a fire, door handles can become very hot and leave burns upon contact, GOST obliges to make a special button on the doors, or to connect the opening mechanism with the middle rod, keeping the minimum effort required to open.

As for the door opening itself, for the most convenient, safe and effective use, the doors should open towards the exit. In this way, the congestion of a large number of people directly at the exit can be minimized.

Particular attention should be paid to the material used for decoration. First of all, it should not be afraid of the direct impact of fire, melt and even more ignite.

In the event that at least one of the above nuances is not observed, this can extremely negatively affect the life and health of people. If all the norms and requirements that GOST 31173-2003 prescribe are fully observed, this will not only prevent the spread of fire, but it is quite likely that someone's life will be saved.

If we pay attention to the requirements for fire safety, and, as a consequence, for fire doors, at various enterprises, then they are, in fact, practically the same type.

  • first of all, the door should withstand the impact of direct fire as long as possible, but at the same time not melt or deform;
  • prevent the spread of smoke and carbon monoxide;
  • easy to open.

Features of production

In accordance with GOST 31173-2003, for thermal insulation and design of fire doors, it is allowed to use only those materials that are not subject to fire, even under the influence of direct fire. Similar requirements apply to consumables. Among other things, handles, fittings, locks and other elements must have a minimum thermal conductivity. Only in this case, they will maintain a sufficiently low external temperature and will not cause burns in contact with the skin. There is simply no decorative trim.

As for the external finish, only those compositions and paint coatings that are fireproof can be used for it, due to which additional protection against fire is provided for the door.

Based on the above requirements, not all manufacturers have a license to produce metal fire doors. The main condition for obtaining it is the availability of special equipment capable of producing products of appropriate quality.

Where are fire doors used?

Despite the fact that the production of fire doors requires the use of specialized materials with refractory properties, the cost of the products themselves is quite acceptable.

As a rule, production workshops and premises, service stations, private houses, warehouses, as well as special-purpose premises act as the main objects where such doors can or should be installed.

In fact, this list can be continued almost indefinitely, the main thing is that the fire door is installed in those rooms that need to be protected from fire.

Design features of fire doors

Fire door construction

In accordance with GOST 31173-2003, there are 2 types of features that should be paid special attention to:

First of all, we are talking about the availability of documents allowing this or that organization to engage in the production of metal fire doors, that is, about the availability of a license. Among other things, each door must have an appropriate quality certificate and an individual passport, which indicates the main characteristics of the product, permissible temperature conditions and other parameters.

Related article: Infrared underfloor heating under tiles: DIY installation

If you study GOST 31173-2003 in more detail, you will notice that each fire door must have certain visual features. Let's consider them in more detail:

Mandatory design feature of a fire door Note
No through holes and slots It is quite easy to check this. It is possible to provide a light difference in two adjacent rooms. If the gaps are visible, it means that the door has cracks and its quality no longer corresponds to that which should be in accordance with GOST
Attention should be paid to the seal that runs along the perimeter between the frame and the metal door leaf. The seal should not have even small cracks, and be as elastic as possible to the touch
An important role is played by the softness of the closer for the most efficient, safe and comfortable use, the closer should move smoothly enough, but not require additional efforts to function
Pay attention to awnings As practice shows, many companies install awnings, but they completely forget that a new product does not always contain a lubricant. Among other things, given the specifics of the metal door itself, the lubricant used for the hinges must also have refractory characteristics and properties, that is, withstand higher temperatures
Locking mechanism Even a light "bite" in the castle is strictly not allowed. It should work as smoothly as possible and not require much effort when opening and closing. Otherwise, it can lead to extremely unpleasant consequences.

What is GOST R 53307-2009?

GOST R 53307-2009 is used when testing metal fire doors. It is he who guarantees that the product meets the quality and is able to save not only property, but also human life from fire.

Those products that have successfully passed the tests and received the appropriate certificate have some important features, such as the highest fire resistance, which makes it possible to install these metal doors in offices, private houses, as well as in large enterprises. Among other things, in accordance with GOST R 53307-2009, all products have the following characteristics.

Key words: door blocks, door leaf, frame, steel sheet

Manufacturing of steel doors is standardized by GOST 31173-2003, which has been in effect since March 1, 2004, and SNiP. These documents apply to steel door blocks equipped with locking devices, which are installed in residential and non-residential buildings. But doors for special purposes with increased requirements in terms of safety or resistance to aggressive environments do not fall under their action.

A number of requirements are imposed on entrance metal doors

Steel door classification

Depending on the location, metal doors are divided into external and internal structures. External metal doors are installed at the entrance to the building, in the vestibule. Internal steel products include entrance doors to housing from the entrance, installed inside buildings.

In terms of design, metal products differ:

  • by box type;
  • the number of canvases;
  • the number of sealing circuits.

There are no restrictions on the choice of finishing metal doors, therefore, the external design can be performed with the following materials:

  • paintwork;
  • film;
  • leather;
  • woody;
  • glass (mirrors);
  • decorative metal.

Varieties of metal doors by type of finish

The door construction is performed with a closed loop (K), a U-shaped frame or with an additional (structurally separate) threshold (P). Steel doors can have a single-leaf (L, R) or double-leaf (D) leaf that opens outward (H) or inward (HV) of the room. Opening of both halves or one is permissible. According to the number of contours, the seals are divided into single-circuit or multi-circuit.

The design features of metal doors are displayed in the identifier, for example, DSV LPVn 1900-800 MZ. This example is decoded as follows:

  • ДСВ - steel inner door block;
  • L - single-floor with opening to the left;
  • P - with a threshold;
  • VN - opens inward;
  • 1900-800 - product dimensions;
  • M3 - strength class.

The performance characteristics of the structure are divided into classes. The table shows the values by which the classification is carried out.

Metal steel doors differ in strength class, which has the designation: M1, M2, M3. The strength class is determined based on the results of tests that are carried out to determine the resistance to static, dynamic and shock loads.

The device of input blocks is subdivided into types of performance according to burglary resistance:

  • common type, with anti-detachable devices;
  • reinforced type, when the device is equipped with a locking mechanism around the perimeter, has reinforced hinges and strength class M2;
  • protective, with additional requirements for protection and class M1.

Locks installed in metal door structures must comply with the recommendations of GOST 5089.

The thickness of steel sheets for conventional metal doors in accordance with GOST cannot be less than 2 mm. Armored items are made from metal sheets with a thickness of 8 mm. Reinforced and protective type of product is designated by the letters "U" and "Z".

Door requirements

The design of the product and its installation must comply with GOST and SNiP. Steel door leaves are made of sheets and rectangular profiles. The use of a bent profile is allowed. Also, the canvases can be connected to each other as a bent box, but GOST recommends connecting the sheets by welding, which is performed in a shielding gas environment. The points where the connection is made by welding must be reflected in the documentation. The profile in fillet joints is joined by welding or another method. The strength of the joints cannot be lower than the welded ones.

The design of the metal door must comply with GOST and SNiP

Insulated metal doors are made of steel sheets with filling between them, for which mineral wool, fiberboard sheets, wooden blocks, and polystyrene are used.

Door frames are made of a bent or rectangular profile, respectively, having a thickness of at least 1.5 mm and dimensions in the cross section of 40x50 mm.

The web is reinforced internally by vertical and horizontal profiles. GOST recommends using two vertical and horizontal profiles. In the area where the door hinges and anti-removable mechanisms are located, additional horizontal profiles are installed, and in the rest of the part, it is allowed to place others at an angle between the vertical profiles.

The inner side of the doors is allowed to be made not from a solid steel sheet, but from parts connected by welding along profiles. GOST allows replacing internal metal sheets with fiberboard or other materials with the required strength.

Additional requirements

To be able to provide access to the locking devices for the purpose of replacing or repairing them, a "window" is mechanically installed on the inner side of the canvas. The locking device is not recommended to be fixed by welding due to the likelihood of high temperature damage to the lock parts. When installing locks, it is necessary to exclude the possibility of deforming loads on the locks during operation. This is necessary to prevent the locks from jamming.

For sound insulation and to reduce heat transfer, sealing gaskets are mounted around the entire perimeter of the box. The number of contours is allowed two or more. Installation is carried out without gaps in the joints of the gaskets, and their fit to the vestibule must be made tight. On external entrance doors, gaskets are selected for resistance to temperature changes. The depth of placement of the bolt of the lock in the slot of the box is 22 mm.

Anti-removable crossbars must be installed in the area of the door hinges. Passive crossbars (pins) are welded or pressed in.

Anti-removable ledgers fit tightly into the openings on the door frame, preventing the door from being removed from the hinges.

GOST extends its requirements to the device of metal door blocks up to nine square meters. The dimensions of the canvases are no more than 2200 mm in height and 1200 mm in width.

Installation features

Due to the significant weight and increased requirements for burglary resistance, the installation of a metal door has its own subtleties. After dismantling the old door, it is necessary to prepare an opening so that the gap between the wall and the frame does not exceed two centimeters. After placing the door block in the opening, start leveling, ignoring the deviations of the plane of the doors and walls. To fix the position, wedges are used, which are driven in between the frame and the wall.

Wooden wedges are used to fix the door block in the opening.

After that, they begin to strengthen the structure. A wall is drilled through special holes and a pin is driven into the wall, which must enter the wall by at least 15 cm. When drilling holes, it is necessary to change the slope for each fixation point, which will complicate the work of possible burglars.

If the structure has a double frame, then every 20-30 cm between the wall and the corner of the trap, special metal wedges are hammered, which are selected according to the width of the gap.

The main installation work is completed by sealing the gaps with polyurethane foam.

Considering the complexity of the work, which requires knowledge and special skills, we advise you to contact professionals, and not do it yourself. Otherwise, even an armored door will not ensure the reliability of your home and the safety of your property.

For testing, samples of door blocks are taken from a batch of products by the method of random selection in the amount of 3% of the batch volume, but not less than 3 pieces. If there are less than 3 items in a batch, each item is inspected.

In the case of a negative test result for at least one indicator on at least one sample, the product quality is re-checked on a doubled number of samples for an indicator that had a negative test result.

In case of repeated detection of non-compliance of the indicator with the established requirements on at least one sample, the control and subsequent batches of products are subjected to continuous control (grading). In case of a positive result of continuous control, they return to the established procedure for acceptance tests.

6.6 Periodic tests according to the performance indicators specified in 5.3.1-5.3.7 are carried out when putting into production or when making changes in the design of products or their manufacturing technology, but at least once in the period specified in Table 8, as well as when product certification. In justified cases, it is allowed to combine periodic and certification tests.

Product qualification tests are carried out for all indicators when the product is put into production.

The tests are carried out in test centers accredited for the right to conduct them.

Tests to determine the reduced resistance to heat transfer, air permeability, sound insulation are subjected to structures designed to take these loads according to their field of application.

6.7 The consumer has the right to conduct a control check of the quality of products, while observing the sampling procedure and test methods specified in this standard.

GOST 26433.0 7.2.4 The appearance, quality of welded seams, color and quality of finishing of products are assessed visually by comparison with standard samples approved in the prescribed manner. Surface defects visible to the naked eye from a distance of 1.5 m in natural light of at least 300 lux are not allowed.

7.2.5 Adhesion (adhesion strength of paint and varnish coatings to the metal surface) is determined by the method of lattice notches in accordance with GOST 15140.

7.2.6 The tightness and correctness of installation of gaskets, door devices, fasteners and other parts, the color and absence of cracks in welded joints, marking and packaging are checked visually.

To determine the tightness of the sealing gaskets, the dimensions of the gaps in the porches and the degree of compression of the gaskets are compared, which should be at least 1/5 of the height of the uncompressed gasket. Measurements are made with a caliper or ruler in accordance with GOST 427.

The tightness of sealing gaskets with closed webs can be determined by the presence of a continuous trace left by a coloring agent (for example, colored chalk), previously applied to the surface of the gaskets and easily removed after testing.

Mm and weight kg, from a fall height according to 5.3.5 into the central zone of the sample.

Note - At the end of the tests, the door blocks should remain operational, while the lock bolt and latch should freely enter their counterparts.

Before and after the reliability test of door blocks, it is recommended to check the tightness of the gaskets according to 7.2.6.

When testing door blocks for resistance to static load acting perpendicular to the plane of the leaf in the free corner zone, it is recommended to use the graph of the dependence of the deflection of the free corner of the leaf on the applied load given in Appendix D to determine the strength class.
