Boat made of large diameter plastic pipes. Pipe boat

In this instruction we will look at a method for making a fast crankcase from PVC pipes and other plumbing components. The boat is equipped with two engines, this makes it fast and powerful, but these are not all the advantages. Thanks to this design, there is no need to install a rudder on the boat; it turns by turning on the engines once. For example, if you turn on the right engine, the boat will turn left and vice versa. And if you turn on one engine forward, one back, the boat will turn around in one place, like a tank.
The boat can also reverse, which is especially useful if it gets stuck in seaweed.

How to use the homemade product is up to you. This boat is perfect for games, especially if you make several of them, you can organize competitions. Also, such boats are quite successfully used for fishing purposes. With the help of them you can deliver bait or even fish, making some adjustments and increasing the size.

Materials and tools used

List of materials:
- two motors;
- battery;
- PVC pipes, plugs, tees, corners;
- two adapters for the motor shaft;
- welding electrode (or other rod);
- two screws (water);
-
- Styrofoam;
- glue;
- sealant;
- cogs.

List of tools:
- scissors;
- stationery knife;
- drill;
- glue gun;
- screwdriver;
- marker;
- ruler;
- soldering iron;
- pliers;
- hacksaw for metal.

Boat manufacturing process:

Step one. Assembling the frame
The entire frame is made from several pieces of PVC pipes, angles, and you will also need two tees. We cut the pipes to the required length, and then assemble everything as in the photo. There is nothing complicated about this; the main feature is that all components are sealed. Otherwise, water will fill the frame and the boat will begin to sink. Everything is assembled with glue, you need to apply more of it. For additional tightness, glue can also be applied externally to the joints.

Step two. Engine spaces
Of course, the engine propellers must be under water, so the frame must go under water. These parts are made from two curved pipes, as well as small sections of pipes for connections. We assemble with glue, do not forget about the tightness.

Step three. Installing motors
First you need to prepare and install the wires. We drill holes for them, as in the photo, and place them inside the frame. You can seal the drilled holes immediately after installation using hot glue or the like.

Now we insert the wires into the parts that hold the motors. You need to make plugs inside them to prevent water from getting inside. You can use polystyrene foam for this. We make round timbers from polystyrene foam, insert them inside, and then pour more hot glue into the pipe on top. We get excellent plugs. We install the brackets in their places.

To install the motors you will need pipe plugs of the same diameter as the pipes being used, they are attached end to end. We drill holes in the plugs for the shaft and mounting screws, and then install the motors. Before installation, the author applies sealant to the motors to prevent water from getting inside. The author also covers the top of the screw heads with sealant, probably to prevent them from rusting. Almost everything is ready, solder the wires to the motors. To do this, the author used his improvised soldering iron.

We put the motors in their places, they should fit tightly inside the frame. To seal, cut off pieces of pipe. We seal the joints thoroughly with glue.

Step four. We make the deck and bottom
The bottom and deck are one whole, and the whole thing is assembled from two sheets of foam plastic. First cut out the main sheet, this will be the deck. Then cut another smaller sheet and glue it to the deck using hot glue, this will be the part that goes under the water.

And finally, you need to make a keel for the boat; it will allow the vessel to move clearly in a straight line. The keel is also made from foam plastic. Cut out and glue with hot glue. Without a keel, the boat will turn because the propellers rotate in the same direction.

Now the whole thing needs to be glued to the frame of the boat. Arm yourself with a glue gun and get down to business. You need to glue it solidly so that water does not pass onto the deck, because this is where the electronics are located!

Step five. Installing and connecting electronics
For the boat you will need a two-channel radio; first of all, you need to solder all the necessary wires to it. This is a power wire from the battery, as well as 4 wires from the engines. Immediately after connecting, make sure that everything is connected correctly.

Fastening

Summer is coming, and that means swimming season. It would be nice to make a simple boat using plastic pipes. It will take approximately one month to create such a boat, and a school swimming pool will be suitable for testing it.

Step 1. Materials needed

For boat:
plastic pipes (PVC) - 122.5 cm
plastic pipes (PVC) - 401.3 cm
wooden board - 1×0.5 m
plastic clips - 50 pcs.
adhesive tape - 2 rolls
foam block - 2 pcs.
foam rubber - 30×30 cm - 2 pcs.
nylon thread
chair - 1 pc.

For supports (optional)
wooden slats - 122 cm×5 cm
bottles (for water) - 4 pcs.
Super glue
screws (for drywall) - 8 pcs.

For oars
aluminum pipe - 225 cm
acrylic sheet - 40×40 cm
bolts, nuts, washers - any sizes, 4 pcs.

Manufacturing instructions:

Step 2. Boat frame

For the frame of the boat, it is necessary to cut the plastic pipes into 4 parts: (for the upper part) 2 × 2.5 m, (for the lower part) 2 × 2.7 m. These parts are the supporting frame of the boat. Each pipe must be cut at an angle of 45 degrees.

For the supporting part of the frame, you need to cut 1.3 cm of plastic pipe into 2x70 cm, 2x60 cm, 4x35 cm, 2x40 cm. The photo shows how to cut the support pipes on each side to secure them.

To make the frame, you need to connect the ends of two cut pipes of 2.5 m each using adhesive tape. They are fastened tightly “face to face” so that the boat does not break or sink. You can also use epoxy glue to better hold the frame parts together.

It is necessary to drill holes in the top and bottom of the frame, and then connect them with copper wire.

Frame support tubes need to be added.

Step 3: Securing the chair and foam

The wooden board must be secured to the bottom of the support frame using plastic ties. To do this, you need to drill several holes in it. Also, several holes must be drilled through the chair and boards, and the chair must be fixed to the frame using ties.

Step 4. Sheathing the frame

In order to cover the frame with a plastic awning, it is important to first make sure that it does not allow water to pass through. To begin with, the kayak is turned over, and then covered with a tarpaulin diagonally, all excess, protruding parts are placed inside the boat.

The tarpaulin is secured with tapes on both sides and secured to the frame with plastic clips. If the casing has rings, they can also be secured to the frame; for this, holes must be made in the frame.

To avoid unnecessary resistance while sailing, it is important to straighten the folds of the skin as much as possible.

Foam is added to the bottom after fixing the casing, but carefully so as not to spoil it.

Step 5. Making the paddle
To make an oar, you need 2 meters of aluminum pipe, in which 2 holes are drilled at both ends, at a distance of 10 cm from each other. Cut out 2 pieces of acrylic measuring 20x40 cm and round the edges.

Acrylic is secured using nuts, bolts and washers, after drilling appropriate holes on the pipe and plate. You need to carefully and carefully tighten the nuts on the plate, because... acrylic may crack.

Step 6. Attaching the outrigger buoys
If the boat is unstable on the water, you can attach 2 bottles to the outriggers on each side. You can limit yourself to one side, which is also effective.

An original idea for the summer for lovers of water recreation. Without bothering yourself with complex engineering calculations and without using expensive materials, make yourself a small boat. Perhaps such a vessel is not suitable for traveling by sea or other large body of water. But it will definitely come in handy for fishing or relaxing on the water.

This option is more like an Aleutian kayak. A kayak, just like kayaks, has a closed top hull, which protects the boat from flooding with water.

PVC kayak.

Connecting parts and assembling the body, as they say, on the knee. PVC pipes were used to create the frame, and connections were made using adhesive tape.
If you doubt the strength of the structure, then remember that tape wound in several layers cannot be torn apart.

In addition to the pipes, you will need two or three large reels of wide adhesive tape.

The finished frame is wrapped with a waterproof tarpaulin, which is pulled together from above using almost improvised means. The kayak is quite durable and light due to the flexibility of PVC pipes.

We lay a piece of plywood for the seat on the pipes.

The oars are assembled from a piece of pipe with a plywood blade attached to the end. It's even easier to do.

Canoe made from plastic pipes.

Another homemade flotation device design, from instructables.com. Classic canoes were made in exactly this way, albeit from different materials.

The frame is assembled from plastic pipes using adhesive tape.
Waterproof fabric is stretched over the body and secured with a strong cord.
Here, in fact, it’s not even fabric, but a durable polymer film.

For safety, large empty cylinders, no less than five liters each, are secured in the bow and stern. Also, be sure to wear a life jacket, especially if you have children in the boat.

And remember, such boats are not intended for long walks; their place is no more than a few meters from the shore.
I would also like to add that such a boat is assembled within a few hours. You can take pre-prepared parts with you into nature and assemble the product on site.

A do-it-yourself boat made from PVC pipes is a simple design. Its production will cost very little, but you can get a lot of pleasure during the summer swimming season. You can make such a structure from plastic materials yourself. It's not a difficult job.

PVC pipe is the most convenient option for constructing products with your own hands. These products are perfectly held together using glue or soldering.

Even if the boat gets damaged during use, there is no need to be upset. Such repairs on your own will not be difficult. Using the same glue, simply apply a patch to the damaged area.

To what has been said, it must be added that building such a boat with your own hands is a very interesting job.

It’s a good idea to first make patterns of reduced sizes and glue such a structure from ordinary plastic bags. With this kind of work, you can “feel” the material, which means that working with full-scale sizes will be much easier.

After working out the patterns, they are increased proportionally. Craftsmen advise checking the compatibility of the workpieces by making the structure in natural dimensions from polyethylene.

This will, of course, take extra time, but it will be worth it. If any errors were made in the calculations, this will be clear at the initial stage, and there will be no need to spoil expensive materials.

Boat made of plastic pipes

A homemade boat made from PVC pipes confidently takes a leading place among do-it-yourself crafts made from this material.

A home craftsman can turn the most ordinary plumbing workpiece into an original watercraft on his own.

Sequence of work:

  • Frame. PVC blanks with a volume of at least 2.7 cm are cut into four parts. Two two meters and a half (for the upper part), and two with dimensions of 2.7 m (for the lower part). These pipes will serve as the load-bearing part of the structure.
  • Each end part of these blanks should be cut at an angle of 45 degrees.
  • Next, prepare slightly smaller trimmings with the following dimensions: 2 x 0.7 m, two x 0.6 m, two x 0.4 m and two x 0.35 m. These parts become supports for the boat frame.
  • The support pipes are attached to the frame. The ends of the workpieces must be fastened tightly, otherwise everything will fall apart and go to the bottom. For fastening, you can use adhesive tape or epoxy glue. For reliability, you can drill holes in the tubes with a drill and secure the structure with copper wire.
  • A wooden board with holes is prepared and secured to the bottom of the support frame. Plastic ties are used for fastening. The same fastenings are used to attach the chair to this board.
  • After this, the frame is covered with tarpaulin. It must be waterproof. It is laid diagonally, and all protruding places are wrapped inside. The tarpaulin is secured to the frame with plastic clips. If the tarpaulin has rings, then you can attach it to the frame after holes have been made in it for this. All folds must be stretched as much as possible. This will prevent unnecessary resistance while moving through the water.

Keel

A PVC boat pipe keel serves to provide the craft with increased stability. Most often, the keel is installed on options using an outboard boat engine.

The keel is installed so that its working part is located in the bow area of the craft. From amidships to the stern the keel goes to "no".

Another advantage of installing a keel is that it partially raises the bow of the structure. And this, in turn, prevents splashes from entering the boat during large waves.

Making the keel

A homemade keel for a boat from a plastic pipe is easy to do. All the material that goes into work is durable, light weight and low cost. This keel is ideal for a punt.

After detailed development and verification of the drawing, practical work on creating the frame can begin. You can secure the frame using the methods already suggested above, or you can use a soldering iron for plastic products.

Working with such tools is not difficult. Even a person who has no experience in this field can cope with these works. .

It is not recommended to buy this tool for a one-time job to weld a frame, justifying it as economically unprofitable.

It is better to use a rented device to attach a frame made of plastic pipes. This service is offered by stores that sell soldering irons.

A frame made from blanks soldered with a soldering iron will last a long time. In this case, each joint of the frame will be highly durable. This way you can make a very durable structure with your own hands.

Buying such an awning is not a pleasure. cheap, so many fishermen equip their “submarines” with awnings, which are produced with your own hands And.

The simplest design is an awning, which is mounted on a frame mounted on posts. All this can be made from PVC pipes.

The work is done like this: a tarpaulin or PVC fabric is attached to the frame at the end. PVC pipes are a lightweight material that will not take on overall weight.

At the same time, they are quite strong, and the frame will not break if it accidentally gets caught with branches or bushes hanging over the water.

The design of a do-it-yourself awning made from PVC pipes can be very different; it all depends on the size and shape of the product, and on personal preferences.

A boat made from PVC pipes with your own hands will become unique if you decorate it further. Many people pay special attention to this point, for example, they paint it with acrylic paints, cover it with painted sheets of plywood, and more.

A boat made from pipes can be made with your own hands at minimal cost and in a fairly short period of time. The finished watercraft can be used for walking in natural bodies of water, fishing, and so on. How to make a boat yourself? What materials will be required to build the structure? The answers follow.

Homemade boat from plastic pipes

Design selection

From plastic pipes you can make:

  • a regular single or double boat (picture above);
  • a catamaran-type boat that can be propelled by an oar, small motor, or pedal drive.

Catamaran boat with oars

The advantages of a catamaran over a regular boat are:

  • minimum amount of materials. A catamaran made of PVC pipes may not be sheathed, equipped with a keel or other structures that ensure comfortable use;
  • light weight, which makes transportation easier;
  • strength and reliability achieved through the balance of the craft;
  • the ability to develop high speed;
  • possibility of installing several seats.

Catamarans, unlike conventional boats made of tubes, can be equipped with small motors, which will increase ease of use.

Making a catamaran

To make a homemade catamaran-type boat with your own hands, you need:

  1. develop a design drawing;
  2. prepare materials and tools;
  3. assemble the structure.

Preparing for the manufacture of a catamaran boat

To ensure the maximum level of safety when using a homemade boat, it is necessary at the first stage to develop design drawings and determine the overall dimensions of the craft.

Its size depends on factors such as:

  • number of seats;
  • control method.

If you plan to build a single-seater boat, then its length should not exceed 1.5 - 2 m. Double watercraft can be made 3.5 - 4 m long. Three or more local catamaran-type boats can be made up to 6 m long. If the craft has greater length, the maneuverability indicator will decrease and the complexity of control will increase.

When choosing the oar control method, the width of the boat should not exceed 1.2 m. If you plan to make a catamaran for installing a motor or sail, then the width of the craft can be increased to 2.5 - 3 m.

Catamaran layout

For production you will need:

  • plastic pipes, the diameter of which depends on the length of the catamaran. It is possible to make a catamaran from an aluminum pipe, but the cost of the structure will increase significantly;
  • elbow with a bend of 120° – 2 pieces;
  • wooden blocks, metal corners or plates, small diameter pipes for fastening float pipes;
  • clamps, screws and other types of fasteners;
  • sealant;
  • seat;
  • oars.

Catamaran assembly

The assembly order is as follows:

  1. Elbows with bends are attached to the pipes. The joints are reliably sealed;
  2. the main float pipes are installed on a flat surface strictly parallel to each other and fastened with crossbars;
  3. installation of plugs;
  4. the seat is installed.

An example of assembling a catamaran-type boat

The process of manufacturing a more complex catamaran design with the ability to control is presented in the video.

Production process

To make a regular boat from large-diameter HDPE pipes or other types of pipes, you need:

  1. make a boat frame;
  2. sheathe the pipe frame with any waterproof material;
  3. make your own from pipes and plastic or buy oars.

Additionally you can:

  • make and install a keel for the boat, facilitating the steering process;
  • make a cart for transporting watercraft. A boat trolley made of pipes is made in accordance with its overall dimensions.

Means of transportation

Frame assembly

To make a frame from sewer pipes, at the first stage you will need to develop a drawing of the future structure. The shape and dimensions are not of fundamental importance, therefore they can be determined by the user independently, based on the level of comfort during use.

The boat can be equipped with one or more seats. To give the structure additional strength and stability, it is more advisable to equip the bottom with a rigid base, for example, a wooden flooring, fastened with clamps (ties).

When assembling the frame you can use:

  • , characterized by a large margin of strength and tightness;
  • duct tape. The least durable design, characterized by speed of production.

Boat base

After the frame is completely assembled, you can begin installing the seats. You can also make your own boat seat from PVC pipes. Most often used:

  • chair seats;
  • wooden boards;
  • metal plates.

Ready base for a homemade boat

All connections must be as tight as possible.

Sheathing

To cover the frame you can use:

  • tarpaulin. The material is more durable and durable, but also more expensive;
  • transparent polyethylene film. The material is less durable, but the finished boat looks more original.

To fasten the selected cladding material, the following are used:

  • adhesive tape;
  • plastic clips;
  • plastic rings.

Before sheathing, the material is checked for integrity and absence of damage that could lead to leakage. When fastening, it is recommended to smooth out the skin as much as possible from the outside, and remove all folds that impede free movement to the inside.

Boat ready for use

You can build other designs of homemade boats, which will be based on pipes. It all depends on the builder’s imagination and his ability to work with these materials.
