Cozy hanging chair for relaxation with your own hands. Different hanging chairs for home or summer cottage - do it yourself Swing from a hoop with your own hands

The macrame hanging chair is the dream of many, young and old. Therefore, it is not surprising that there are now a great many offers on the market for the sale of such chairs. And you can always buy a ready-made hanging chair, of course, handmade. But the price of such a chair is sometimes shocking.

Don't have extra money? Have a couple of hours of free time in the evenings? Do you really want to have your own cozy rocking chair? So why not weave a macrame hanging chair with your own hands. So you get a truly exclusive armchair, the color and size you want, and most importantly, cheap.

Before proceeding directly to the master classes on the manufacture of such chairs, we will make a reservation: a ready-made hanging chair can be attached both to the ceiling in the apartment and to a special support in the yard in the country. We will discuss in more detail ways to hang such chairs in a separate article.

Round hammock chair do it yourself detailed master class

So, let's proceed to the first master class on weaving a round hammock chair, with step-by-step photo instructions and additional diagrams.

When I say round, I mean the seat of a chair, but its top somewhat resembles a tent.

As a matter of fact, it is more comfortable to start weaving a chair from the seat. In the future, the finished seat is connected to the back, add fringe if desired and you can admire the result. But first things first.

Necessary materials:

 • polyester cord (D 4.5 -5 mm, 800-900 meters);
 • gymnastic ring (D 17 cm, thickness 2-2.5 cm);
 • gymnastic steel hoop (D 90 cm);
 • hook number 8-9, scissors, tape measure.

Weave the seat of the chair

As I mentioned, let's start with the seat. To begin with, I propose to get acquainted with the simplest, in my opinion, version of weaving "net" or as it is customary to call this technique in macrame: "Checkerboard from flat knots." In the future, we will discuss other options.

The photo of the instruction shows a scheme for weaving a double flat / square knot and a mesh of them.

In addition, for those new to macrame, I attach a video tutorial with a detailed explanation of how to weave a network of square knots.

On such a seat, you will need a large steel hoop (aluminum will bend) and about 96 meters of cord.

Cut the cord as follows:

 • 8 threads 6 meters each;
 • 4 x 5.5 m;
 • 4 x 4.5 m;
 • 2 to 4 m.
In terms of the length of the cord, it turns out: 48 + 22 + 18 + 8 = 96 meters.

In photo # 3, I marked each cord with a certain color so that it would be clearer for you where which one ended up on the hoop (I think in the future it will become clear to you why we cut them to different lengths).

So, first we attach the longest ones (these are 8 pieces of 6 m each) in the photo 5 point - they are marked in green. We tie in pairs at a distance of 6 cm from each other.

Please note that the cord folds in half and is attached with a special knot - it is shown in photo No. 4. And in the supplement diagram, which is presented just below a separate photo: there are four mounting options. Which option to use is up to you. The main thing is that as a result, from one cut of 6 meters: it turns out two working threads 3 m long.

The tied ropes must be secured (so that they do not slip). To do this, in each pair (and these are 4 threads of 3 m each) we knit a square knot - scheme number 6.

From the tied threads we weave a chess net (video lesson above).

A few words about the mount: the photo below shows the promised four options. These are the usual fastenings with a lock, either inside out, and extended ones are also present or inside out.

Why pay attention to them? If in the future you do not want to spend a lot of extra ropes for winding the hoop (so that it does not look out), and do not dream of a chic fringe. Better to use the extended mount - this will hide a little more hoop.

The second thing I want to draw your attention to in this variant of weaving a seat for a hanging chair: the extreme threads (2 to 4 m) are tied to a hoop - they are highlighted in yellow in the diagram. Well, in fact, she schematically gave examples of how you can tie them to a hoop.

Weave hanging macrame chair

We cut 20 strands of 10 meters each (i.e. cord consumption - 200m).

We fold each rope in half and tie a knot in the middle (in operation, 20 threads of 10 m will again turn into 40 of 5 m).

We focus on two threads on the sides (remember that one thread is two workers). Accordingly, it turns out that we have two threads on the left and 2 on the right (they need to be selected somehow - as an option, wind their ends).

We divide all the cords in half in the middle (for convenience, throw them on the door). We work with the first part: 20 ropes, 2 of them with windings (respectively, one on the left and one on the right). Using these threads, weave 12 square / double flat knots (the bulk of the ropes are braided with four dedicated ones). At the end, tie the threads with the windings in a knot (pictured # 3).

Then the knots tied in the center are unraveled, we unfold the work No. 4 and weave 15 more knots.

Next, we connect the edges (we form a loop - No. 6) and continue to braid 38 with the same two cords. Now it is better to hang the loop on the carabiner or, if it is not there, on the belt, etc. Weave 3-4 knots and tie these 2 strands with windings in a knot, dividing all the ropes in half.

Now pay attention to point 8: unfold, loop as shown in the photo, find two ropes with wound ends and make them in the middle of a square knot. Those. this time they are tied. Next, weave 4 square knots in a row.

And again we take two threads with wound edges (the remaining two) and we also tie them around. From the remaining threads, we tie 4 more knots - as a result, you should get a row of 10 square knots (40 threads / 4 per knot = 10 knots).

We knit a couple more rows in a checkerboard pattern and tie the ropes to a small ring.

Cords with wrapped edges are marked with red (# 16).

No. 17 we start weaving slings.

They will hold the hanging chair in the front. For them you need to add ropes: cut 8 to 6 meters (consumption 48 meters). We bind them with extended node # 19.

We tie in front 4, and 2 on the sides. We knit a row of square knots and divide them in half (we need two slings).

We work with the first one: we knit a couple more rows of double flat knots (as a result, we get 3 rows of knots), retreat 10 cm and knit 3 rows again and repeat this until we get the desired length. Weave the second line as well, try to keep them symmetrical.

If you already know where your beautiful chair will hang, do it as it will be more comfortable for you. Note that under load, the polyester cords will stretch slightly - i.e. the seat will be lowered by 10-20 cm.

At this, the slings are ready; it remains only to tie them to the finished seat.

№ 24 We weave the back of the chair using macrame technique.

We will need additional threads again, we cut 16 by 9 meters (this is another 144 m). We tie them to the ring, in the back in the middle of 4, and in the remaining intervals by 2 (I drew a diagram below so as not to confuse you in these additions, so do not be alarmed).

We move the wound threads towards the slings, in photo No. 25 I marked them in blue. Just tie them with reps knots (shown schematically # 27).

The promised layout of the added ropes. I drew them by the number of “cut” ones. Remember that after being tied to the base, they "turn into two".

Those. 8 strands of 6 meters = 16 strands of 3 m; 16 strands of 9 meters = 32 x 4.5 m.

We tie the slings to the seat of the chair at a distance of 77-80 cm.

And we proceed to the direct weaving of the back. You can choose the pattern for yourself, which one pleases your soul. Let me draw your attention to the first row of nodes. In the diagram below, I have already drawn the specific number of threads that are obtained at this stage.

In the first row, 13 knots are obtained, if you knit the second with a checkerboard, you will get 14, etc.

A wide beautiful openwork back is the main highlight of the macrame hanging chair. Accordingly, the width of the back you need, the more threads you add.

In this version weaved:

 • 4 strands - 7.50 m (30 m) each;
 • 4 - 7 m each (28);
 • 4 - 6.50 m each (26);
 • 4 - 6 m each (24);
 • 4 - 5 m each (20).
In total, 128 meters are additionally woven.

Adding threads to the back is shown in photo # 37-39.

Finally, skip a couple of rows of flat knots along the edge of the pattern at the bottom, or secure the pattern next to rep knots.

Tie the finished back to the hoop from the middle (pulling evenly, symmetrically to the center, tie the side threads).

At the finish line, we conjure over the fringe, additionally cut the threads for the front of 160 cm, for the back 180 cm.Tie them tightly, until the gaps on the hoop are completely filled (and of course, do not forget about symmetry).

We will weave the skirt together from additionally imposed and hanging from the back, slings and seat. By the way, at this stage you can cut off the excess (if any) and use it to create the skirt.

Just tie the pieces of sufficient length to the hoop, short ones (in case of deficiency) can be "soldered". Heat the edges with a lighter and quickly connect both ends. Use brazed threads only in fringe, which is not loaded!

If there is enough cord, then let 150-200 meters on the fringe.

Another important point: before weaving this or that pattern on the skirt of your chair, you need to “fix” the threads. Alternatively, weave a braid or a couple of rows of flat knots first. And then weave your pattern with peace of mind, you can also complete it with a brid. Cut the fringe threads exactly and admire the hand-made hanging chair.

Such a chair will withstand a hundred and something kilograms, the main thing is that the fasteners withstand.

Let's sum up the thread consumption: seat 96 m + base 200 m + slings 48 m + back 144 m + 128 m additionally woven into the back + fringe 200 m = 816 meters.

Tell me, did they transfer the threads there, imposing extra ones? Even the same "knitter" cannot have two identical chairs. It is better to cut off the "excess" than to redo the entire chair because of their lack. In addition, excess trimmings, as I have already mentioned, can be put into the fringe of a hammock chair. Experiment - come up with your own patterns, you will definitely get a beautiful hanging macrame chair.

A couple of ideas on how to make the seat of the chair differently.

Here the seat is crocheted, more about it in the master class below.

The second option for weaving a hanging chair

This option of weaving a macrame chair can be called economical in comparison with the first. It took 800-900m for the first chair, and that's only 400m. Accordingly, you will weave such a chair faster.

We are again starting to make a hanging chair from the seat. In this version, it is crocheted. Crochet a round napkin, then tie it to the hoop (using the same crochet hook - do not cut the thread).

In this version, it is better to wrap the hoop with twine in advance.

We begin to make the loop as in the first version. Everything is signed in detail on the photo instructions.

The blue and green marks the threads with which the square knots were woven. They end up holding the seat securely: two in the front and two in the back.

There is really no need to go through the trouble of coming up with an intricate pattern for the seat of a hanging hammock chair. After all, it will still be closed with a pillow or feather bed. But a beautiful fringed skirt will significantly improve the look of your chair.

Well, the back of the macrame chairs I like more "solid", the net of double flat knots is prettier when there is a small distance between them and a lot of ropes are involved. But it's up to you to decide.

Please note that you can modify not only macrame patterns, but also the very basis of the design of your hanging chair. Add a circle on top of the same diameter as the seats and you have a gorgeous mini hanging tent.

You can completely abandon the round base.

Hanging chair macrame with short back

Two hoops of different diameters can be used to weave a cozy hanging chair with a low back.

Supporting twisted chains can be woven into the back of the chair.

Or you can attach them purely to the hoops.

In addition, you can skip the front end-to-end hoops.

Or such a modernization.

True, with one hoop, you can make an unusual round hammock chair with your own hands, in the video there is a master class for inspiration.

And one more example for inspiration (this time without a hoop). This chair is made with a wooden seat. Why not?

The fastest and cheapest way to make a macrame hammock hanging chair

How to quickly and inexpensively weave a hanging chair using the macrame technique? I am showing the final simplest version.

Here you will need to make a wooden base, and then weave the familiar network of square knots. All steps are demonstrated in detail in step-by-step photo instructions.

The result is a beautiful hanging macrame hammock chair.

That's all our selection of master classes on how to weave a round macrame hanging chair with your own hands has come to an end. For inspiration, don't be afraid to experiment!

By the way, before you start weaving such chairs, take a look at ours - there are very decent options that someone will surely like.

Good afternoon, today we will continue to talk about the swing. We have already figured out what different (and simple and complex) swings you can make with your own hands for giving in our article. And today I decided that this topic should be continued, because I found more 15 WAYS to make a wooden garden swing. They are even more gorgeous than those that I have already mentioned ... And now I will show you and explain them. what is what.

We will start with the simplest garden swing options - and then slowly begin getting cooler and cooler... You yourself will be stupefied by the realization that "How is everything, damn it, simple and easy, I can do that too."

If mothers read us, then do not rush to run away - there are options for a garden swing that your gentle hands can do ...

Better show this article to the father of the family - belief, here he will be something to BURN... And in your yard - GARDEN SWING will appear very quickly ... with interesting architectural features

But I will not get ahead of myself. Let's start in order ...

I'll start with a non-standard way ...

MODEL ONE - garden swing

from a hoop and rope.

For this method, even male hands are not needed. Patient women will do ...

What do you need:

 • steel hoop for gymnastics ...
 • foam rubber for wrapping a hard hoop (which was more comfortable and softer) -
 • and a rope (their laundry shop will do).

What to do I described the whole process of creating a swing and drew everything step by step in the picture (so as not to explain on fingers - but there was clarity).

Later when the whole macrame web is done - the rim can be additionally wrapped with a rope - between the knots - so that the knots do not slide along the hoop and do not get confused in a heap - and overlay a little bit more on top - so that the solid rim does not stick into the body ...

But in the photo below we see weaving from thinner ropes - and in the center our ropes are not intertwined chaotically - but are threaded into a small metal ring

You can also buy such a garden swing ... They are on sale ... made on factory equipment. And you don't have to do anything with your own hands.

And here is one photo gave me a wonderful thought

And what if .... To find a tub or basin - which would just fit inside our iron hoop - then you don't need to weave anything out of ropes. Put a basin inside the hoop - and ride a garden swing to your health ... And then, when the children grow up and lose interest in this fun, you can break a wonderful lush garden flower bed in the basin ...

MODEL SECOND -

garden swing board on ropes.

Everything is simple - there is a wooden board + there is a rope.

And only one task -

HOW TO ATTACH THE ROPE on this very board.

Method one - we drill holes in the board of the seat of a wooden swing - we pass a rope through them - so that it goes into one hole and out of the other.

To strengthen this structure (so that the board does not break in the place of the drilled holes) - we also add a seat under the board - from two edges - along a small board (also with holes). So that the rope passes through the seat board - and through the duplicate board pressed against the seat board.

Method two - this is when the seat of a garden swing looks like a wooden frame. We tie ropes to the frame (right and left) (as in the left photo below) - and bridge the middle part of the frame with planks.

Method three Is when the seat looks like half a cylindrical log (cut lengthwise). A very durable option (only such a log must be well cut and polished so that splinters are not on a soft place).

Method four - you can screw through metal fasteners to the board ... They come in different shapes - look in stores or in a shed.

And that's not all the tricks ... In my article, you will find several more ways to fasten the rope to the board ... Everything is also in clear pictures there.

MODEL THREE - garden swing

from tarpaulin on chains

Here, too, everything is simple - there is a chain + there is a metal triangle + there is a piece of thick tarpaulin.

We hang the iron triangles on a chain - pass a piece of tarpaulin through the triangles - bend its edge to the bottom and put 2 large rivets. Done.

If there are no rivets, you can simply thread the bolts and tighten the nuts - and so that the bolt does not break through the hole, then lay wide metal gaskets from both edges. And with your own hands, you quickly and simply made a soft garden swing from fabric.

MODEL FOUR - garden swing from chairs.

There is three different ways - to fasten our rope to such a “chair-like” seat.

Method one (blue chair from the photo above) - under the seat of the chair - put 2 thick metal rods (one under the gray of the chair from the back side - the other from the front under the seat). We cut round holes in the corners of the chair - we put ropes in them - and we tie the ends of the steel rods with these threaded ropes. Thus, we get a rigid structure of our swing

Method two (yellow swing from the photo above) - we nail 2 boards to the bottom of the chair - we drill holes in them - we put ropes into the holes and fasten them with a fastening knot.

Method three (pink swing chair) - We knock off a small shield from the boards. We drill holes in it. We put it under the seat of the chair. We drill grooves into the seat of the chair (not holes - but grooves, that is, vertical cuts along the edge of the seat) 2 through grooves from the front corners of the seat + 2 grooves from the back side of the seat.

The ropes go through the front grooves - go under the seat towards the shield - there they enter the front holes on the shield - come out of the rear holes on the shield - and go into the rear grooves of the chair seat - and go up to the support on which they hang.

Such a groove structure is very strong - remember? .. we already made such groove fasteners for a swing in the article.

MODEL FIVE -

garden swing for kids.

If your child is still very small (so much so that it is dangerous to leave him alone even on a stool) then ... you can add one more to the classic swing-board protective structurethat will prevent your baby from falling out of the swing.

The design of such a children's wooden swing is very simple. Look ... Let's say you have a swing board... And you want to make of them swing-with-safety-barrier... Here's how ...

 1. 4 tubes needed (metal or plastic, or even paper towel tubes work well, or a piece of solid garden hose).
 2. And still need 4 planks with holes at the ends (The length of the planks must match the width and length of our board - that is, 2 planks equal to the length of the board + 2 planks equal to the width of the saddle board. Drill holes in them so that the rope can go through.

And everything is simple.

 1. We put the rope into the harness board - it comes out of the 4 holes in our seat.
 2. We put a tube on each rope - and then we put on our boards on top of each tube through the rope - in the order that is visible in the photo.

That's it - It's easy and quick to make a garden swing for kids with your own hands.

Or… you can do it like this ... I will talk about this in detail in the article "Children's swing - do it yourself"

Or you can sew such a children's swing from fabric and wooden sticks.

I will also tell you about this ... but separately ... I will tell you step by step how to sew such a children's swing myself in a special article "CHILDREN'S SWING - for the smallest SEW YOURSELF" There will be all sizes and a detailed pattern and sequence of actions. That is, it will be an article for moms ...

And at the moment dads read us…And therefore we run further... Now it will be the most interesting.

Of course you have already matured question…

QUESTION:

And on which SUPPORT can such a swing be hung?

LET'S RIGHT NOW AND LOOK ...

A good woman Olga Klishevskaya (so we met), dug for you as much as 3 support structures for your garden swing.

And now I will tell you in detail and show in the photo how and what to do, and what is the trick of each such support system.

SUPPORT for garden swing - with crossed beams

Support in the form of the letter X

Two beams are placed to each other in the form of the letter X ... fasteners are driven into the place where the beams cross (piercing through both beams and fixed at each end with a Nut with wide round gasketbetween the nut and the bar (as seen in the photo below)

And on these crossed pillars of the support, another bar is placed - horizontally. It is also fixed with the same fasteners.

And then we drive fasteners with rings into which we will thread the rope to this horizontal lying beam.

and I also have a step-by-step lesson on creating EXACTLY THE SAME swing with a bench, as in the photo below - ARTICLE "How to make a swing - STEP-BY-STEP LESSON with a photo." There, a Korean dad does just such a hanging bench, step by step.

As you can see in the photo, such a garden wooden swing with a bench can be hung as on the ropes so and on the chain - I have already spoken in great detail about the methods of fastening the swing and special carabiners-holders.

The same swing models can be made from Bent timber.

QUESTION - what kind of seat should such a swing with a bench have?

ANSWER - so that it has where to sit and where to lean on ... And the design is at your discretion ...

The variety is great ... so great - that I realized ONE: I will have to create a separate article for this topic.

Anyone who needs a garden swing-bench is exactly where I invite ... to Ayda's article ... to learn from the experience of foreign artisan thought

Wrote (and sometimes drew) this article - a woman.

Because ... only a woman can inspire a man to create beauty. What I actually did these five days, beaten 38 hours.

Do not mistakenly believe that swings in the country are made exclusively for children for fun. In addition to a swing designed for the weight of a child, there are a lot of quite interesting options that will become an excellent element of landscape design and a place of relaxation.

What to make a swing from?

Traditionally, swings are made of wood, metal and a combination of these materials. However, a swing seat can be made of plastic, metal pipes, planks, sturdy rope, an old chair, or a chair without legs. Tires and other waste materials are often used.

The main thing is that it is comfortable and safe to sit on the swing, and the racks withstand the loads exerted on them.

Often a country swing is equipped with awnings made of fabric, polycarbonate, wood, and roofing materials. Such a "roof" protects from bright sunlight, you can sit on the swing without the risk of burns.

What kind of swing are there?

Upholstered swing chair

Before building a swing, you should think about its purpose (for children or adults to ride), location (excessively oversized models are inappropriate in small areas), seasonality (not all summer cottages are appropriate to leave a swing outdoors for the winter). It is also important to choose a model that fits well into the overall picture of the summer cottage landscape.

The swing can be mobile (collapsible) and stationary.

In turn, the mobile swing can be suspended or equipped with a prefabricated frame that is installed on the ground.

Do you want to make a swing for a child in the country?

A children's swing is a great idea of how to entertain a child in the country, and the portal site also offers you to familiarize yourself with information on. If you already have a sandbox, then read the article about building a playground with your own hands -.

You can independently make a swing-balancer, swing-hammock, swing-sofa. Particularly noteworthy are designs that are far from the classical presentation of the swing design. Unusual swings can be:

And more recently, a swing for disabled children has appeared. The wheelchair platform design allows even those who, unfortunately, cannot move on their own, can ride.

Garden swing

Do-it-yourself hanging swing

A frame is not provided for such a swing. We will only make a seat, which we will later attach with chains or ropes to ceiling beams or thick branches.

Have you decided on the choice of swing design?

Option 1. The simplest swing is an old tire tied with a rope and suspended from a tree. Alternatively, you can use a chain and secure it with a screw and nut.

Option 2. Place the tire horizontally. We cut 3 or 4 holes, insert metal hooks into them, which we fix with washers and nuts. We put ropes or chains into the loops of the hooks.

Option 3. This is the most difficult option, which will require skill in using a grinder. The tire should be cut according to a certain pattern, bent and fixed with long hairpins so that it looks like an animal or a bird. One of the ways to make a country swing can be found below.

A swing made of a board (saw cut of a log, a wooden lattice, etc.) and ropes is a classic. It is enough to make 4 holes at the corners of the wide board and insert the ropes.

Instead of a board, you can use an old highchair by sawing off the legs and tying it with ropes.

A metal (steel or aluminum) hoop must be equipped with rope weaving so that a spider web-seat forms in the center. It is advisable to wrap the edges of the hoop with foam rubber and sheathe it with a dense fabric. And to hang the swing, you will need several strong ropes, metal rings or other fasteners, which must be fixed at at least four points around the circumference.

As one of the options, you can consider a swing-hoop, inside which a metal basin is inserted. The edges of the pelvis should be firmly attached to the hoop. Subsequently, the structure is easy to disassemble and retrain into a flower garden.

To make such a swing, you will need two wide metal triangles, rivets and the material itself - a tarp. We fold it in several layers, sew along the perimeter, insert triangles and fasten it with rivets. It remains only to hang the swing on a branch or beam.

To assemble a wooden swing on racks, we prepare the following:

We use galvanized bolts as fasteners for such a swing. We refrain from simple screws and nails.

For additional protection of the material from damage and preservation of its natural appearance, we use glazing. We pre-cover all wooden structural elements with it.

The finished swing is suspended on a strong branch or fixed on racks with a transverse beam laid on top of them. Use wooden beams to assemble the support structure.

We process the lower ends of the wooden racks with bitumen. To fix the racks, it is enough to dig a couple of holes about 1 m deep, install racks in them, fill 20-30 cm of the height of the hole with a mixture of sand and gravel, and then pour concrete.

If you wish, you can make separate concrete pillars and attach a wooden beam to them with anchor bolts. Do as you like. When using the second method, be sure to lay a moisture-proof material between metal and wood. To give the frame more stability, we support the racks with braces.

Swing seat mounting options

The swing itself is made in accordance with the following step-by-step instructions.

First step. We make support arcs-clubs. For this we use boards 22 mm thick (best of all from pine) and plywood 12 mm thick. In accordance with the diagram, we draw a template and cut out 6 clubs.

Step two. On the plywood blanks, outline the outlines of the core. The layer in the middle is made of glued board. In the outer layers of the outermost clubs, create cutouts for the ends of the rope.

Step three. We fasten the parts of the support with waterproof glue. We tighten the support with clamps. We remove them only after the glue has completely dried.

Fourth step. We process the edges of the supports with a grinder, giving them a rounded shape.

Fifth step. Cut out round pieces from a pine board for rope holders. This is most easily done with the appropriate drill bit.

Sixth step. We process supports and finished rounds with a primer or weather-resistant paint.

Seventh step. Screw metal rope holders into the supports through the rounds, and then cover the wooden elements

Eighth step. Moving on to creating a seat for a homemade wooden swing. First of all, we align the picket fence.

Ninth step. Next, we drill holes for the screws in each strip. To make the holes as accurate as possible, we put on the edges of the picket a corner (can be made of plywood) according to the size of the slats with pre-made holes in the right places.

Tenth step. We screw the pickets to the supports. To ensure an even step, place planks between the planks.

Eleventh step. We fix the armrests to the supports. We also make them from picket fences. We screw metal bolts into the end of the strips. We put a wooden round between the support and the armrest.

Twelfth step. We pass the rope through the holes of the holders fixed in the swing support. We tie the rope to a sea knot, after that we wind a wire, a strong thread or cord around it.

Thirteenth step. Cut off the free edge of the rope with a knife.

Fourteenth step. We pass the rope through the oval hole in the armrests. We rest the armrest on the pads installed on a pair of half rings tightened with bolts.

Fifteenth step. We wrap the rope around the rope thimble and tie it with a rope.

In the end, it remains to hang the ring from an Alpine carabiner fixed to the support bar or a thick tree branch. Your swing is ready!

The metal swing is also easy to make by hand.

First step. We cut blanks from pipes. You need to make 2 two-meter side racks, a 1.5-2-meter crossbar, as well as 4 pipes of any size for the base (2 pipes will go on each side).

Step two. We clean pipes from burrs using a metal sandpaper or a file.

Step three. blanks for the base at right angles.

Fourth step. We weld it to the finished base of the rack, and then weld the crossbar to the racks.

How to install a bar on a metal swing

Fifth step. We start earthworks. You need to dig 4 holes with a depth of 80 cm.

Sixth step. We insert metal beams into the finished pits slightly longer than the depth of the pits.

Seventh step. Fill the recesses with the beams with concrete mortar. Concrete can be made by yourself from part of cement, part of rubble and two parts of sand. Add water to the dry mixture and mix thoroughly until a homogeneous mass is obtained.

Eighth step. We leave the concrete to gain strength for about a week.

Ninth step. We weld the hooks to the bar. Anchors can be used to make hooks.

Tenth step. We weld the swing frame to the metal beams.

Eleventh step. We attach the seat.

This completes the homemade metal swing. You can test and take into constant operation.

With the arrival of summer, many city dwellers strive to get out into nature at least for the weekend, and if there is a summer cottage and circumstances permit, then for the whole summer. There is probably no such person who would not like to take a nap in the fresh air to the singing of birds, swaying in a hammock or chair. To save on the purchase of this simple but rather expensive furniture element of the interior, a do-it-yourself hanging chair can be made in several ways, which will be discussed below.

For the manufacture of some options, the simplest materials are used, which even, perhaps, simply litter the barn. For others, you will have to prepare material in nature or purchase it in a store. Manufacturing may require the "mobilization" of their abilities in needlework - weaving or knitting, so that work is found not only for men, but sometimes even more - for housewives.

Varieties of hanging chairs

Hanging chairs became widely used in the 50s of the last century - then they were at the height of fashion. Many designs have been developed for these distinctive "luxury" elements, made from a wide variety of materials.

 • An armchair with a rigid frame made of rattan, vine, metal, plastic or acrylic. In this case, the base can be covered with a strong fabric or braided with twigs of vine, rattan or leather strips.
 • Armchair with a soft frame, made on the principle of a hammock. The main difference between these seats is the size and method of suspension. If the hammock is fixed on two supports located at a certain distance from each other, then one is quite enough for a chair.
Cocoon armchair - for those who like to spend time in privacy
 • Chair-cocoon, made on a rigid frame and has wicker walls. The difference between this type of product and other types of armchairs is that its interior space is half hidden from the outside world. Such a place is ideal for people who love privacy.

 • The drop chair is mainly intended for children's rooms, as it looks more like a suspended little house in which you can hide or even sleep. Plus, it has enough space to take your favorite toys with you.

Making simple hanging chairs

In this section of the article, we will consider several options for making hanging chairs, which should be quite feasible for most skilled owners.

Hanging chairs from a hoop

The easiest way to make a hanging chair at home is from your regular hula hoop, which can be found in almost every home or at a sporting goods store. Moreover, there are two options for making such a piece of garden furniture. One of them will require one hoop, the other two, slightly different from each other in size. Both options will be shown - you can choose the one that seems easier to manufacture.

First option
 • To make such a chair, you will need the following materials:

- one hoop from a pipe 20 ÷ 30 mm in cross section, with a diameter of 700 to 1100 mm, depending on how large the chair should be;

- two identical fabric cuts of 1200 × 1200 mm or 1600 × 1600 mm. A durable fabric is selected, you can take a lining material on a synthetic winterizer that already has a stitching;

- a cut of the same fabric 200 mm wide, 3500 ÷ 4000 mm long (you can use several pieces);

- colored dense fabric for sewing pillowcases for two to three pillows;

- synthetic winterizer, also having a width of 200 mm, and a length of about 3500 ÷ 4000 mm (it is possible in several pieces);

- synthetic winterizer for stuffing pillows;

- border for processing cutouts in the case - 800 ÷ 1000 mm;

- zipper lock 700 ÷ 1100 mm long;

- strong nylon cord 6 ÷ 8 mm thick or linen rope with a diameter of 10 ÷ 12 mm, a length of 10500 mm (10.5 m);

- two powerful metal carabiners and rings for hanging the chair.

 • From the tools you need to prepare:

- threads and needles for hand sewing;

- a sewing machine;

- scissors;

- marker;

- tape measure or centimeter.

 • The manufacturing process of such a chair is presented step by step in the table:
Illustration
In the first step, the fabric is spread on the table, and then a hoop is placed on it in the center.
Further, with the help of a centimeter around the hoop, a circle is measured and marked with a marker, with a radius of 250 mm larger.
A circle is cut out of the fabric along the outlined line.
You need to prepare 2 pieces of such parts.
The finished elements of the future cover should look like this.
In the next step, one of the cut round blanks is folded in half and then cut.
Further, along the line of the central cut of the circle, it is pinned, and then the lightning is attached.
250 mm retreat from the edge of the cut, and from this point the lock is fastened, that is, it should be clearly along the length equal to the diameter of the hoop.
After the lock is stitched, the two halves of the cover are sewn around the circumference, and then it is turned inside out and laid out on the table.
Further, to make it convenient to make markings for the cutouts, the finished cover should be put on the hoop.
The marking is produced as shown in the presented drawing.
The places where cutouts are to be made are marked with a marker.
According to the marks made, four notches are made through which cords or ropes will be fixed to the hoop.
To make the cut out holes look neat, you need to trim them with tape.
Having finished working on the cover, you can proceed to preparing the hoop.
The hoop is wrapped with padding polyester.
In several places, the metal can be slightly greased with polymer glue so that the wrapped material does not slip during its sewing.
Further, there is the actual plating process itself.
It is carried out by hand, over the edge.
The next step is to sheathe the hoop wrapped with padding polyester with a cloth.
Well, so that it does not slip, at first its edges are wrapped inward and cleaved with pins.
The fabric is also sewn by hand, over the edge.
As you sew, the locking pins are pulled out.
The trimmed hoop is inserted into the cover through the hole, into which the zipper is sewn, which then fastens.
Further, two pieces of 2200 mm each and two pieces of 2800 mm are cut from the cord.
Then, the cords are folded in half and the ends are tied together.
After that, they are threaded through the cut holes under the hoop.
The cords are fastened to the hoop by threading the knotted ends into the loop formed on the other side.
Last but not least, suitable pillows are cut and sewn, and the chair is hung in the place chosen for it.
How to carry out the process of fixing the chair to the ceiling or in the yard will be discussed below.
Second option
The second option - two hoops in openwork braiding

In the second version, in the manufacture of the hanging chair, slightly different materials are used, in contrast to the first model. Such chairs are made in the same way as hammocks using the macrame technique, but they can be made in another way, accessible to everyone, since not everyone knows the art of weaving.

 • So, for the manufacture of this chair, you need to prepare:

- two metal hoops (ready-made or made independently, for example, from a metal-plastic pipe) with a cross section of 30 ÷ 35 mm, a diameter of 700 mm for the manufacture of the seat frame, and 1100 mm - for bypassing the back;

- in this case, a 4 mm thick nylon cord is used for weaving and it will take 900 m, but instead of it, a linen or jute cord with a diameter of 5 ÷ 6 mm or strips of dense leather can be used;

- nylon cord with a cross section of 6 ÷ 7 mm for hanging the chair - 12 m;

- 2 wooden bars with a cross section of 20 × 35 mm, or 2 metal tubes with a diameter of 20 ÷ 25 mm. Instead, you can use two pieces of rope with a cross section of 10 ÷ 12 mm.

The manufacturing process for this version of the chair includes the following operations:

IllustrationBrief description of the performed operation
The first step is to wrap both hoops with a cord. Every 20 turns, a tightening is made so that the loops do not slip.
Sometimes a small amount of polymer glue is used to secure the rope to the metal, which, of course, should not protrude outward.
The cord must be laid very tightly, otherwise the finished product will look sloppy.
The next step is to braid a hoop that will serve as a seat.
For this, a "checkerboard" pattern can be used, consisting of various nodes.
This illustration shows a version of the checkerboard braid made of flat knots along the diagonal.
This photo shows the same drawing, but in a direct version.
For those homemade craftswomen who find it difficult to master the art of macrame, or simply want to work on braiding the hoop as quickly as possible, we recommend using the technique that is used to weave rugs. But, if, after finishing the rug, it is removed from the hoop, then during the manufacture of the chair, the resulting weaving remains on the round frame.
To make the weaving strong, you need to choose high-quality cords for the base, which is fixed on the hoop.
The next step is to connect the two prepared hoops together with a cord, tightly wrapping it in the front of the future chair.
For the rigidity of the back, two supports are made of bars, tubes or a thick cord, which are tightly braided with a thin cord.
These two jumpers (shown with green lines in the illustration above) are fastened to the back and seat hoop using weaving.
Next, you need to do the weaving on the back of the chair - in the remaining gap between the two hoops.
Braiding can also be made using the macrame technique, the above technique for creating rugs, or the simplest crocheting - as it will be more convenient.
It should be noted here that the installation and braiding of the backrest supports can be done both before and after the weaving of the back.
It is also better to braid the slings for hanging the chair with a cord - this way they will be much stronger and more reliable.
The slings are fixed on the backrest hoop in four places, and their length is adjusted to the desired size when the chair is suspended in the chosen place.

It should be clarified that instead of a hula-hoop, plastic (polyethylene) pipes for water supply can be used to make chairs - they are light in weight and have sufficient strength. The advantage of this material also lies in the fact that the braid will look much more profitable and aesthetically pleasing on a pipe of a larger diameter. In addition, plastic is warmer and softer than metal. Pipes are sold in construction markets in the form of coils and already have a suitable shape, so you just need to choose the desired ring diameter and fasten it correctly.

Suitable for creating frame and pipe hoops. They are somewhat more expensive, but also more durable, since their walls consist of several layers. Metal-plastic pipes, like plastic pipes, are easy to cut with a hacksaw.

The length of the pipe segment required for the hoop is determined by the formula for the circumference:

L = π × D ≈ 3.14 × D

- where D Is the required diameter of the hoop,

S - required pipe length.

For example, if you need to make a hoop with a diameter of 1100 mm, then this will require 3.14 × 1100 = 3454 mm, or when rounding 3.5 meters of pipe.

There is no need to purchase rigid polypropylene pipes, since when bent, they can behave completely unexpectedly.

The ends of the pipe are connected to each other using a special insert of a smaller diameter than the pipe, but tightly fitting into it. Such an insert is usually made of wood or dense plastic. It is inserted into the ends of the pipe, then they are tightly shifted and fixed with stainless self-tapping screws 15 ÷ 20 mm long, depending on the diameter of the pipe. This circumstance is important to take into account so that the screws do not go through.

Wicker hanging chair

Advanced task - wicker chair

Hanging wicker chairs, which can be made from specially prepared flexible twigs of willow, bird cherry, rakita, rattan or bast, are considered a traditional option. In central Russia, it is easiest to find a broom or willow, which grows densely along the banks of rivers.

Weaving material - long and flexible willow rods

In order to make a wicker chair, you need to purchase and prepare the following materials:

 • Long willow twigs with a diameter of 10 ÷ 15 mm - they will need about 400 ÷ 450 pieces. It is better, of course, to use rattan, especially for those who are trying their hand at the art of basket weaving for the first time, as it is more flexible and easy to work with.
 • For the front of the chair, a metal hoop, metal-plastic pipes can be used as a frame, or the base can be created from several twigs of a vine, woven obliquely.
 • Strong twine and glue will be needed to tie the frame.
 • A pruner, an awl, a knife and a ruler are needed to measure the material and cut it.
 • A cord with a section of 4 mm made of nylon in color is close to the shade of the rods - it will be needed for weaving the back. If you have skills in weaving, then the back is also made of vine.
 • Cords, chains or ropes for hanging the chair. Their length will depend on the height of the room's ceiling or other suspension point.

The weaving pattern can be different, and its complexity depends on the experience in this art.

The simplest option for making a suspended cocoon chair involves the following operations:

 • The chopped vine is steamed and peeled from the bark, and then, beaten off - this is necessary in order for it to be more pliable in weaving.
 • To begin with, the frame of the chair is formed. If a hoop is used for the front part, and an oval shape in the form of a cocoon is planned, then the hoop will have to be flattened a little. However, it is best to use a metal-plastic pipe for this frame element, which can be easily shaped into the desired shape and connected to its ends using an insert.
 • Then, the rest of the frame elements are fixed to the pipe. The rods must have a cross-sectional thickness of at least 6 ÷ 8 mm, and the length is greater than the height of the chair by 250 ÷ 400 mm, if they are fixed vertically. If, however, rods of this length were not found, then the frame can be made of horizontally fixed elements.
 • By mounting the rods vertically, they are fixed on the upper part of the frame, in its middle, so that they gradually move apart, and in the middle of the back of the chair the distance between them should be 20 ÷ 25 mm.
 • The rods are bent, creating the shape and depth of the chair, and at the bottom they are gathered again towards the middle. This is a kind of basket-frame, which will be in the finished form in an upright position.
 • There is another way to form the base, when horizontal rods are fixed on the sides of the frame. They are also mounted every 20 ÷ 25 mm, and the shape of the future chair is also created from them.
 • The fastening of the frame vine to the base occurs by bending it through the pipe from the inside of the chair to the outside. The folded end is then intercepted with twine with the vine.
 • Further, the frame rods are braided transversely with a thinner vine, starting from the bottom and gradually rising up. If weaving goes along a horizontally arranged frame, then it necessarily starts from the middle of the back to the sides. On the pipe, the end of the twig is bent and twisted around the main vine. Each rod is pressed close to the previous one.

An example of compaction of the laying of the vine when weaving along vertically installed frame elements.
 • The entire basket of the chair is woven in the same order. The end of the last rod is bent, tucked in and secured in the weave.

Since in such a chair in the seat area there is no reliable support due to the oval shape, a foam cushion of sufficient thickness is inserted into the lower part as it - this can be tried on in place.

Hanging chair from the board

Another type of hanging chairs can be made of boards, in several versions. Installation of such a structure is quite simple, even for those owners who do not have skills in carpentry. It is enough to be able to carefully handle the surface of the boards and drill even holes in them.

First option

This option is ideal for a summer cottage - such a chair is easy to hang in the shade of trees, where it will be very pleasant to relax in the fresh air.

 • To make such a structure, you must have the following materials on hand:

- Boards, dimensions: length 600 ÷ 700 mm, width 120 ÷ 150 mm, thickness 10 ÷ 15 mm. These elements will require 16 pieces. The boards must be well finished, it is desirable to round off the edges on them. Some craftsmen use boards from standard Euro pallets.

- Nylon paracord - 10 m.

- Water-based varnish for outdoor use.

 • To work you need the following tools:

- Hacksaw or jigsaw.

- Drills and drills for wood of diameters 6, 8 and 10 mm.

- Sandpaper.

Work on the manufacture of such a chair is carried out as follows:

IllustrationBrief description of the performed operation
If the chair is made of pallet boards, then it will need to be carefully disassembled, while not allowing cracks to appear or expand.
Then, also very carefully, nails are pulled out of the boards.
After that, the edges of the boards with holes from the nails are sawn off exactly.
All surfaces must be carefully processed to perfect smoothness, otherwise you can easily get a splinter, and in the most inconvenient place.
The processed boards are marked out, folded in two or three pieces and through holes are drilled in them at a distance of 50 mm from each other.
It should be noted here that the holes can be drilled along the edge, with a distance of 15 ÷ 20 mm from it, or in the middle of the board in two rows, at a distance of 30 mm from each other.
Further, the boards are stacked side by side, and the cord is inserted into the holes, as shown in the illustration below.
In the next step, the cord is pulled into the holes across the previous connections.
When assembling, it must be remembered that you should not tighten the cord too much, since the boards must be sufficiently free in relation to each other. This is necessary so that the resulting structure can take the shape of a chair.
After pulling the cord, it is tied with a double knot on the back of the structure.
Further, in the upper board and in the second board from below, with an indent from the edge of 35 ÷ 40 mm, in the middle of the board on both sides, two holes are drilled symmetrically relative to the center.
They will be required to pull the cords of the required length, for which the chair will be suspended.
In order for the cords not to converge pyramidal upwards, but to be stretched at the required distance, in the upper part, just below the suspension point of the structure, they must be fixed with a wooden frame.
After passing through the frame, all the cords are connected and braided into one rope.
The result is a comfortable chair, which can be additionally equipped with a foam mattress or pillow for comfort.
Second option

The second version of the wooden chair is even easier to make than the first, but it is more suitable for giving in quality. However, taking the proposed design as a basis and strengthening it, even a suspended sofa can be made according to this principle.

In order to make just such a chair, you will need:

- 14 well-processed boards 500 ÷ 700 mm long, 50 ÷ 60 mm wide, 15 ÷ 20 mm thick.

- Nylon cord with a diameter of 10 mm, a length of 10 m.

- Self-tapping screws with wide heads (press washers) 10 mm long.

Of the tools, you will need, in principle, only if the lumber is pre-processed and covered with protective compounds.

 • In the first step, the boards are laid out evenly parallel to each other, face down, a distance of about 10 mm is maintained between them.
 • Next, you need to determine how long the cord is required on each side - for this, fitting is performed.
 • Between the laid boards, at a distance of 40 ÷ 50 mm from the edge, a cord is laid with a snake, and then in the same way it is laid in the opposite direction. Thus, each of their parts on both sides must be “dressed” with cords. The cords are twisted together in the gaps between the boards, tightening so that the distance between the beams is approximately 8 ÷ 10 mm.
 • When the cord is completely intertwined on one side of the chair, on the lower board, on the seamy side of the chair, both ends of the cord are aligned and securely pressed with a self-tapping screw with a wide head.

Hanging swing chair prices

hanging swing chair

After that, all the same is done on the other side of the chair.

 • Now on each crossbar, on its two sides, on the back of the chair, the installed cords are fixed by screwing in self-tapping screws.
 • That's it, the chair is ready, and all that remains is to fix the slings and hang it in the chosen place.

How can you hang a chair

The suspension chairs discussed above can be fixed indoors or outdoors. If you decide to hang the finished chair from the ceiling, then you must carefully prepare the place for this. The ceiling must be strong enough to support the anchorage with a minimum load of 120 kg.

 • If the ceiling is concrete, which does not have voids, then, as a rule, there are no problems with mounting the mount. It is enough to drill a hole for a powerful anchor with a hook and then fix the hanger.

In the assortment of hardware stores, you can even find a special kit designed for this application - anchor, hook, metal chain.

 • If the ceiling slabs have voids, then a hole is made in the place required for hanging the chair, through which the cavity is filled with a special solution. These mixtures are called differently and they are made on the basis of high strength polymers. Such formulations are usually sold in special packages (tubes) for construction syringes.

Special composite polymer composition - "chemical anchor"

When the hole in the ceiling is filled, the metal anchor itself with a hook or ring is installed in it, and then left for at least two days until the solution is completely polymerized and hardened. Only then can the chair be hung on the mount.

 • If the ceiling has guaranteed reliable, durable floor beams, then fasteners specially designed for hanging the chair are mounted on them with bolts.

 • If the main ceiling is closed by a suspended structure, then another fastening option is used to hang the chair, which has a connecting section of the required length, ending with a threaded sleeve. This bracket is fixed in the concrete ceiling and exits through the surface of the false ceiling, and then a ring or hook, usually with a decorative collar, is screwed into it. Further, the chair can already be suspended from the ring.

 • You should not come up with your own fastening structure, as it may simply not withstand a heavy load. It is recommended that you purchase a special ceiling mount made of high-strength metal alloys and rated for the appropriate load.
 • The slings for hanging the chair can be chains, cords, ropes, ready-made or self-woven from durable fabrics. It is desirable that the ropes correspond to the chosen style solution, in harmony with both the chair itself and the general interior of the room.

Other interesting hanging chair options

There are other types of hanging chairs that can be made at home. Perhaps one of these constructions will seem easier or more interesting to someone.

 • Such a model of a swing chair can be made not only by those who own the technique of weaving macrame. Those who have the simplest sewing skills will also do quite well, since the back and seat are woven, knitted or sewn.

Manufacturing requires slings and four wooden or plastic parts. A kind of frame is fastened from wooden elements, which will become the frame for the seat and back, and slings for hanging the chair from the ceiling are also tied to it.

Find out how to do it by reviewing several of the available options in an article on our portal.

Such a chair is quite comfortable for adults, but most likely not suitable for small children, as it is not safe enough.

 • This version of the chair can be independently made by those who own the welding craft, since the frame for such a structure is made of steel reinforcement and metal sheet. The seat of the chair is made of plywood, on which foam rubber is laid and fixed, and then sheathed with leatherette or leather.

Frameless chair - only fabric, foam rubber and strong cords
 • For this swing chair, you will need a dense fabric, foam rubber, which will give the seat and back a shape, a nylon cord and a wooden part-spacer for the lines. To make such a chair, you only need a sewing machine, a centimeter, scissors and the ability to work with these tools.

 • Another interesting option for this unusual piece of furniture. The most difficult element in this design is the backrest frame. In this case, it is made of bent wood, but it can be replaced, for example, with two metal-plastic pipes. They are fastened together with construction tape, and then, decorated with a strapping of nylon cord, or first sheathed with padding polyester, and then with a dense fabric or leatherette. The slings are also made of rope or cord, and the seat and back are cut out of strong fabric and secured to the frame back in four places where the slings will be secured.

From the examples considered in the article, it can be seen that making a hanging chair yourself is not such an impossible task, it is feasible for any diligent person. Therefore, you can choose the option that is most harmonious for a particular interior and is most suitable for the complexity of the work and the level of your own skill, and then boldly get to work.

In conclusion of the article - a detailed demonstration of the manufacture of a country hanging hammock chair.

Video: Making a hammock chair yourself

The swing is one of the favorite rides for children. In principle, this is not a very complicated design that you can do with your own hands. "Nest" is a suspended model that has some advantages over other structures. It is a good option for installation in a summer cottage or in the yard of your own house.

Design features

The design "Nest" is quite popular, it is also called "Basket" and "Cobweb". The main feature of the product is its round seat. Thanks to this shape, the swing has additional advantages:

 • the model can fit several kids at once, if you choose a sufficiently large diameter of the seat;
 • due to the method of suspension, the structure can swing in different directions, bounce and rotate;
 • if you choose the oval version of the seat, the attraction can also be used as a hammock for relaxing adults and children.

On the other hand, in such a modification, the suspension ropes are subject to a significant load, therefore strong and safe ropes must be used. If we take the standard factory model, then it has the following characteristics:

 • the seat mesh in it is created using machine knitting, therefore it easily withstands constant stretching;
 • you can hang it at a height of 2-2.5 m above the ground;
 • the ropes are usually made of polypropylene, they are strong and safe, have a thickness of at least 1 cm;
 • fasteners and rings are made of galvanized steel.

Ready-made structures are made taking into account the effects of ultraviolet radiation and high humidity, therefore they are immune to negative external conditions. All these points need to be taken into account if you decide to make a swing "Nest" with your own hands. This is beneficial because the cost of products made in production is quite high.

Construction device

To make a practical, convenient and reliable model on your own, you need instructions and knowledge of the device of this attraction. You should also think about the materials from which the main elements will be made.

 • A frame made of metal profiles serves as a support for the swing; it is also made of wooden beams.
 • The base of the seat can be made of a hoop, plastic or steel, this central part of the structure must be well thought out both in shape and in the raw materials. There are usually no questions with the net - it can be woven from a climbing rope, it will represent the central part.
 • The basket, as a rule, is complemented by a round pillow with high-quality artificial filling and a nylon cover, which can always be easily removed for washing.

It makes sense to take the following materials for making a home swing:

 • safety cord or tow rope (diameter 5-6 mm) for binding the seat;
 • synthetic fabric for tents, felt and foam rubber, because the outer part of the pendant needs a multi-colored or at least bright material that children will like;
 • a steel water pipe (about 4 m) is suitable as a support;
 • two steel (gymnastic) hoops with a diameter of 90 cm to create a frame.

You will also need to acquire steel carabiners with a 50 mm cell or locks.

How to arrange a seat?

Arrangement of a children's swing should begin with the manufacture of a seat. First, the steel frame of the seat is made, for this two hoops are taken, they are connected using loops or clamps. If it is assumed that adults will also use the structure, it is better to use a steel pipe with a cross section of up to 15 mm and a length of 150 cm, which is bent on special pipe bending equipment and welded.

The "Nest" swing net can be woven in any way, if only the knitting is strong enough.To do this, use such weaving techniques as tatting, macrame or patchwork. However, it should be borne in mind that the use of openwork fabric or too thin cords is suitable for using the structure by one child. You should also pay attention to the fact that the mesh does not sag - for this, the cords are pulled extremely tightly. The created seat fabric must be securely attached to the frame with knots.

There is another option for making a seat from the rim of a regular bicycle wheel and a polypropylene pipe, which, by bending, is inserted into the rim and fixed through the holes for the spokes. You will need four rings and two carabiners to fix it to the frame.

Creating a suspended structure

When the central part of the structure is ready, you can proceed to making the frame. It makes sense to use the traditional version of the profiled pipe or timber (100x100). Procedure:

 • prepare two support in the form of the letter "A";
 • for a horizontal crossbeam, a steel pipe is mounted to them, while the height of the swing should be the same as the distance between the supports;
 • ropes and slings are fixed in pairs on the crossbar, polypropylene cables are preferable, but chains previously wrapped with dense material can also be used for suspension;
 • so that the cable does not undergo abrasion, a polyester gasket is made under it;
 • four carabiners are required to mount the basket.

After installation, it is necessary to test the structure for strength - this can be done by laying bars with a total weight of up to 120-150 kg on the frame. At this stage, the degree of tension on the ropes is usually checked and the distance of the seat from the ground is optimally adjusted. Already after checking, before finally hanging the basket, the metal frame should be pasted over with foam rubber, and then with a special foam polypropylene, having performed thermal insulation of the steel pipe.

The outer edge is carefully braided with a turnip, it should be applied evenly, and on top it should be supplemented with a polyester cover. Self-production of such a swing model will not take much time and will require a minimum investment of money. The main thing is to follow the instructions so that the structure is strong, durable and safe.
